You must go and try if you are vegan. I thought that price and food are reasonable and also the location is convenient.

On a recent trip to Seattle, I had dinner at Wayward Vegan. Though not vegan personally, I went on the highly positive recommendations of several relatives. I ordered the potato cakes and was pleasantly surprised by their mashed potato-like texture, which was not what I had expected. The cakes were served with tasty sausage and tempeh-based bacon. The cafe itself is quaint and well-kept with a menu that offers breakfast, lunch or dinner all day. The service was speedy and unobtrusive. If in the neighborhood, it is a good option for a quick, affordable meal.

We ended up going here because my wife is a vegetarian, and let me tell you: for no meat it was delicious! The "fried chicken" , the herb bred crunchy things, the everything was great. I would recommend any vegetarian/vegan try it at least once. Parking isn't always the best, but it is Seattle so be ready to accomodate traffic and the what-not. Enjoy!

I'll start this off by saying I'm not a Vegan or a Vegetarian, so I'm very bias. I was basically coerced into going here with friends that enjoy this type of food. Have you ever walked into a room at a party and immediately either wanted to jump out a window or otherwise make an immediate escape? That's what this place screams to me. AHHHH GET TO THE CHOPPA!! I didn't want to order anything, but I ordered the blueberry pancakes thinking that this would be a difficult thing to screw up. Well, it tasted like fried snot with blueberries. I gave half of one to my vegetarian friend and he could only stomach half of that. If you are not a vegan. Don't come here. You are not welcome. These aren't your people. For those of you that are vegan. You will find some tasty things for you but even my vegan friends said "It's ok."

This was our first eating experience at Wayward. I ordered the crispy chicken and my husband ordered the ribs. Plenty of food. Tastefully presented. Unusual. Delicious. We could not eat all our meal. It was extremely filling. We took the leftovers with us and had it for lunch the next day. Excellent service. Reasonably priced. A very enjoyable dinner out.

Delicious, inexpensive vegan comfort food. We ordered the steak breakfast, the philly cheesesteak sandwich, and the dirty bird; for dessert, we got a cheesecake and a pecan pie. Everything was divine, and it was nice being able to eat a vegan lunch without breaking the bank!

This is a MUST for any vegan. Phenomenal place for all vegan food. Non-vegans beware - you won’t know the difference. Large, varied menu. Fast service. Excellent staff - knowledgeable, helpful, courteous, friendly, fun. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert.

I cannot attest to any items outside of the breakfast menu but I loved every bite of it. Vegan protein options coupled with traditional American comfort breakfast items makes it very worth the trip.

Yummy chicken and waffles. Good BBQ. Amazing fried artichoke hearts (can you tell I like the Southern style?). And it is all meatless! It is so fun to have so many choices for vegetarians on a restaurant menu! The menu is a bit unwieldy in its size but it's all done with good humor. The new space on 65th is big and clean and bright.

Had the omelet with gravy and tater tots, and a blueberry pancake. Both dishes were amazing and I can’t wait to come back to eat there again!

Our vegan son loves this place. We, as Mom and Dad, expected not to enjoy it that much as we're not vegans by any stretch. That said, did sample the pancakes, waffles and french toast (which they serve all day) and found them to be pretty good. Not excellent, mind you, because they can't use eggs or milk - but must admit that they tasted much better than we expected for 100% vegan items. In the end, we left the restaurant impressed at their ability to make good tasting breakfast items that we had no clue you could find at a vegan restaurant.

We stopped in for breakfast as we were passing through Seattle on a recent road trip. So glad we did! The food was incredible and the menu was huge - I had a terrible time trying to pick out just one thing to eat! My husband was smarter, he had a platter that had french toast, tofu scramble, veg sausage and tempeh bacon so he could try everything. I had the chicken fried steak. All was delicious! The space is lovely as well, very open and has upstairs seating, and the servers were super friendly. We were very sad we didn't have time to stop in here on our way back so we could try dinner.

Me, my wife, son, and nephew went to this restaurant to try out another vegan establishment and I can say that we were not disappointed at all! My wife had the Belgian Benedict, my son had the Lockjaw Burger, and my nephew and I had the Country fried burrito! We were not disappointed and the next time my wife and I are in the area we plan on visiting this outstanding place again!

I live in Bellingham and every time I'm in the area I ALWAYS get take out from Wayward. Best vegan junk food ever. I crave their buffalo wings all the time. Also the wraps are the perfect comfort food. I swap the fries out for their potato salad.

Delicious food in a low key setting. Many items to choose from. Portions are large, so bring an appetite. French fries are delicious.

I've only eaten breakfast here. It's yummy. I always get the chocolate chip pancakes and hash browns. They serve mostly vegan dinner food. It's a great place for vegans and non-vegans!

I can't get enough of this place. Makes eating vegan so easy. I love breakfast food, but sometimes I don't want to deal with the brunch crowds. Luckily Wayward serves breakfast all day! Everything I have had their is delicious. Highly recommend them! Now if only they had a location in Capitol Hill.

never did vegan food taste so delicious... and cheeap cheaap breakfast!

Stopped in the lunch and was amazed at the variety of vegan options. The place has a "diner" feel and many creative options based on a traditional diner menu. Had the Farmer's Hash and the Good Morning Crunch Wrap. HUGE portions that we had to take home. Good service and a homey eclectic vibe.

This restaurant has delicious food in a comfortable friendly atmosphere. While most items on the menu can’t be classified as super healthy (it lives up to the name comfort food), it is still a healthy alternative to the standard American diet. If you are transitioning to a plant based diet and/or curious about how great plant based food can taste, the Wayward Cafe is definitely worth trying.

I went there 2 or 3 times when I was in Seattle! Each time was a good surprise. One of the best vegan place in the city !

I took my omnivore family here and they loved it. I had the chipotle chicken club, it is THE best vegan burger I've ever had. The biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had, and the french toast was phenomenal. I would highly recommend this cafe vegan or not. Both times I've been here the servers were not that great, but the food definitely makes up for it.

This certainly isn't the type of place I would eat at every day. But as a vegan, I don't eat "unhealthy" food very often. It is a treat. Wayward certainly was. It is pure southern comfort food. I haven't had comfort food like this for a while. It was completely worth it. The portions are very large, we could barely finish what we ordered.

Great and tasty food with friendly service. Subs are huge and tasty. Plenty of parking near the restaurant. Buffalo chiggan sub with cheezy bacon fries is highly recommended. Bring your appetite! Clientele is very interesting to observe. Enjoy!

I miss it already. I wish I was in Seattle. Maybe I should move to Seattle. The food was fantastic, solid classics of the northeast but VEGAN! I felt like a lumberjack. Chill atmosphere, a great place to ponder growing your hair/beard/collection of 20-sided-dice/ death metal, what have you. I did all of the above. No regrets. I had the Country Bumpkin most recently. Hot damn.

I love this place. Its really awesome vegan food and a nice open atmosphere. Have cash though, thats all they take.

I ate a lot in Seattle. I ate more than usual because I wanted to try everywhere but at the same time I wanted to try everything at Wayward. Biscuit Mountain. Oh Biscuit Mountain. All the feelings. All the love. All the flavors. You are by far my favorite Biscuit Mountain. I saved a bit of you because I could only climb the Biscuit Hill at the restaurant but you made me so happy later that day. Wayward. I love you. I arrived at 10 am on a Friday and had you for breakfast and had to come back for dinner. Then we came back two days later again. Twice. I am sad we forgot to go to you before we hit the airport back to NY. Your menu makes me sad because I would need a month to eat it all. I still love you though. We both do. My girlfriend and I both love you. She was there every step of the way. She's actually vegan, I am not but please do not fault me. She had the French Toast slices. The Ex-benedicto *Eyes emoji* LOVE!

I have been going to this restaurant since they were at their original location in the U District. Initially, I thought they closed, but it seems like they moved to a new location half a mile away. I am not vegan or vegetarian, but the food here is quite unique and refreshing. They have a very comprehensive menu covering most types of American comfort food (made vegan of course) and breakfast. Definitely worth trying!

The gigantic portions are large enough to split or take half of it home. Your delicious cup of coffee is never empty for long. The menu uses conventional names for familiar dishes and the food is made totally with out meat or dairy products. Everything on the menu is served all day long which is another plus. The food is so compelling that over the course of 2 years we have visited over 25 times. For the two of us our bill including tip comes to about $30. I have tried to vary what I order so just cannot recommend one item. Just TRY one familiar item and see the Vegan interpretation of it, e.g, biscuits and gravy or French toast.. I am amazed at the number of children ordering, and it also appears it is a place to take a date.or meet a friend. The servers are quick and friendly, but you need to come with an open mind and overlook all the jewelry hanging out their noses etc, as well as lots of visible interesting tattoos. Enjoy this experience.

The extensive menu offers a wide variety of items, including "drumsticks" and fried chicken. The mac and cheese was tasty, so were the drumsticks. Food which can be enjoyed by both vegans and non-vegans. Small wine and beer selection as well. Decent service as well. Would not hesitate to return.

I am not vegan but my daughter is vegan! The food here is great, flavourful and reasonably priced. I would recommend this restaurant for vegans and non-vegans!

Due to the pandemic, this was only available for take-out but the food was great. Popcorn chickn salad, a crunchwrap, BBQ drummies--all good. Would definitely make an effort to go there next time we're in Seattle.

Okay, the outside and the inside are both very unimpressive. This cafe has a sort of student dive cafe vibe but you can get some really good vegan comfort food here when you are in the mood for it. Some of it is just plain "fast food" but is certainly a lot healthier than your typical fast food place. I like the pancakes with blueberries, chocolate chips, coconut, walnuts, banana, or cranberries tossed in. You can choose any of those and it comes with margarine and maple syrup made right in the cafe. Waffles and french toast are also available if you prefer. If you get the griddle special instead of a stack, you'll choose a pancake, waffle or French toast to accompany a tasty tofu scramble with a vegan sausage patty and strip of tempeh bacon. The biscuits are good and they have biscuit sandwiches. An herb biscuit stuffed with vegan cheese tofu, a vegan sausage patty and with hashbrowns on the side is a nice way to start the day. I love the Mexican biscuit with vegan cheese and a vegan chorizo patty served with hashbrowns and a lovely cilantro lime sour cream. There are many other breakfast choices including breakfast burritos. All are good. Lunch is excellent too. I like the Country fried burrito made with vegan chicken (it is seitan), hashbrowns, grilled onions and peppers served with home fries. There are also salads, subs, sandwiches, "chiggen" (vegan chicken) buffalo "wings" and wraps and some really good sweet potato fries. Plenty of beverage choices too. They are very generous with the servings and it is a great value. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonable (especially for the huge servings!).

It seems to be an oxymoron to put the words vegan and comfort food together, but Wayward Cafe excels at creating comfort food that is totally vegan. This go around we went for the chicken sandwich which is soy based, but in the past, we’ve also really enjoyed the tofu houevos rancheros. Everything we’ve had here has been very good. The service is friendly and casual. Highly recommend this spot, especially for those curious about vegan food and transitional diets.

been here twice. real good vegan cuisine. serve breakfast all day. lunch and dinner menus are also served all hours of the day. good srtvice. Friendly staff. good spot for locals and tourists alike.

Heading back to Vegas and found this great spot to eat... my daughter is vegan and it’s hard to find a good place to eat, she’s in heaven with this restaurant

If you are reading this review, get thyself to Wayward Vegan Cafe! Portions were large, food was delicious, staff was helpful and friendly. Support this incredible establishment.

We made the long trip from Downtown Seattle to the Wayward and it was worth every minute. If you are looking for the vegan version of a "Greasy Spoon" or "Truckstop Diner" with amazing tastes and lots of dishes to choose from, than you are in luck. The staff was really friendly and funny, people that are obviously into the vegan lifestyle and we felt right at home. We had a breakfast and dessert and the servings were generous and the taste incredible. The interior is a mixture of diner and campus cafe. And there is free Wi-Fi. Whether you are missing Omelette, Bacon or Burgers from you non-vegan days, this will convince you that there is nothing you should miss at all.

I've actually been to this restaurant quite a few times. I absolutely love the Presto Pesto and the Mac Attack Crunch Wrap. Since I became vegan this summer and I also have a severe dairy allergy, coming here has been a dream. I am so happy at all the types of foods I never thought I could eat growing up. Happy that there are places like this serving great vegan options!!!

Wayward cafe it’s love! I was so excited to eat here after hearing amazing things from friends and it delivered. The staff had amazing customer service so friendly and helpful with suggestions which we definitely needed with such amazing choices. I had the lumberjack my boyfriend had the Mac Daddy both were incredible! If you vegan or even if your not you have to check this place out! I would eat here regularly if I could! Thanks wayward cafe for the best vegan food in Seattle ❤️

If there had been a buffet, I would have stayed there from open to close. It took me 2 minutes to read the whole menu, but the moment I finished reading it, I revisited it, over and over, like a favorite short story. I couldn't decide on what specifically to order, so I got one dish for dine-in and one to-go. They know vegans, and most of us love experiencing new meals, but also sticking to things we love. They bring Nutritional yeast and Braggs with every meal, because they know. The Lumberjack was two plates strong, but stood no chance against a hungry Mexican. Farmer's Hash was too small for how good it was, and I had to restrain myself from licking the plate.

So happy this place opened up again! I wanted to come back after eating here a few years ago and finally got to when visiting Seattle again. I had the CA dreamin Crunchwrap and fries! Omg! It was huge and juicy! So delicious! The place is in the same spot as before and looks to have had a bit of a face lift! It’s nicer now than I remember! New lighting or something made it feel more inviting! Decent prices and amazing food! Can’t wait to come back here!

I was in the Seattle area for one day and being vegan, had this place on my "must go" list due to all the great reviews ive read! The place is wonderful! I am sad I was able to only go once (and dont live near by) If i lived in the area I would live at this place... This place is a vegan gem!! Great service, great vibe, easy city parking (a small lot behind the building). This cafe served me one of the best vegan meals ive ever had! They have a large selection of a entire vegan menu- and I had trouble picking. I got the Warlock- a "chicken" sandwhich on delcious bread with coleslaw and I subed the chipotle mayo for ranch dressing. The sandwhich was amazing and the mock chicken was fried, crispy, and delcious! I also ordered the vegan mozz sticks because its a rare veganized item to get eating out. I was blown away by how gosh darn good they where!!! They where huge too- I couldnt even finish them but you best beilive I got them packed to go! Those are little gems! I have all great things to say about this place- vegans and non vegans alike this has some great grub! 5 out of 5 stars... I would give them more stars if I could!

Me and my boyfriend were visiting Seattle and had looked at going to a lot of different vegan places. Wayward vegan stood out amongst the rest because of their HUGE menu and amazing sounding breakfasts. After taking what seemed like 5 hours just to choose what to eat, we decided upon a Pacific Pita (chicken salad pita) and a Mexican style Omelette. To drink we had a juice and chocolate almond milk. Everything we are and drank was incredible. Fast service, and we could take out what we couldn't manage to finish. We're quite sad to live thousands of miles away or we'd be regulars!

During our visit to Seattle, this was on our list of places to eat. I'm not a Vegan but my daughter is. Here, you place your order at the counter & the food is served by one of their friendly staff. We ordered the French toast, pancakes, tofu scramble & tempeh bacon. The French toast was delicious, however, I didn't care for the tempeh bacon. I'm sure its an acquired taste. My daughter loved her entire meal. When you're done eating, you bus your own table so they can keep their costs down. Makes sense & we didn't mind. Overall it was a pleasant experience & would come back again. And of course, we couldn't leave without buying a t-shirt.

Although I’m usually a carnivore, I couldn't help but notice how many people with amazing skin and vitality follow a raw food or vegan diet. Intrigued, I decided to give The Wayward Vegan a try, and I was pleasantly surprised from the moment I stepped in. The warm greeting and positive energy of the restaurant made me feel right at home. The staff, including my waiter, were incredibly friendly and attentive. The ambiance was enhanced by the nice music playing in the background. I opted for the CA Dreamin Crunch wrap, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors and textures were perfectly balanced, and it left me feeling satisfied and nourished. The Wayward Vegan has given me the confidence that I could make the shift towards a vegan lifestyle, knowing that I won't be compromising on taste or satisfaction. This hidden gem of a location has won me over. If you're on the lookout for delicious vegan food, I highly recommend giving The Wayward Vegan a try. You won't be disappointed!

This place was the bomb. Everything on the menu was vegan. If you desired breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any time of the day, this place would provide it. We had went there for breakfast 1 day and dinner the 2 day. Highly recommend this place to all vegans.

We went twice on our four-day trip. This is fantastic comfort food. The vegan menu is so tasty, pleasing both vegans and non-vegans alike. The breakfast options are so tasty, and the coffee was wonderful! We also went for dinner. The burgers and quinoa dishes were super.

It seems to be an oxymoron to say vegan comfort food, but Wayward Cafe truly delivers. Transitional vegans and folks open to the experience alike will be amazed by what vegan food can be. We each had the tofu rancheros and split a waffle. Both were very delicious.

We reviewed this restaurant in 2017 and actually haven't been back until this weekend. We ordered take out through Caviar for ASAP and the food was ready within 15 minutes of placing our order. We wanted some brunch so we ordered breakfast food, including The Lumberjack, Fried Chicken and Waffle, french toast, and sides of tater tots, mashed potatoes and home fries. A lot of these items would not be vegan in a typical breakfast cafe. Other than the tempeh bacon, ham and sausage being a little too different for our liking, we enjoyed every dish. The french toast and fried chicken were definitely highlights. I think the reason we haven't come back since our last visit 4 years ago is because of the long wait we had to get a table. Now that take out is the efficient and safe way to get food, we will definitely be back for more.

Although I am not a vegan, I truly enjoyed my lunch today. I had the "mozarella" sticks, followed by the Biscuit Mountain, both of which were delicious. The service was fast, super friendly, and truth be told, we all felt like family. I would highly recommend this charming cafe. We'll be back, especially since my daughter maintains that The Wayward Vegan is the one of the best- "crazy good!"

After searching around for vegan restaurants to visit for our first trip to Seattle my husband and I were so excited to try this place out - the huge menu alone was enough to convince us when we walked in that we made the right choice! They have every type of breakfast food you can think of all veganized plus a good assortment of lunch and dinner options. I ended up ordering the vegan crunchwrap supreme and my husband got the club sandwich with fries. The food came out really quick and was delicious! The crunchwrap may have been a bit thick for my liking with a little too much fake crumbled meat, but I happily switched with my husband to the club and was in heaven. This is a bus your own table kind of place, but it was so worth it! We also ended up trying mozzarella wedges from there and some buffalo tofu. Highly recommended!

We seem to now start and end our road trips with a stop at Wayward as we pass through Seattle. We've ordered countless items off the breakfast menu and never have been disappointed. The service is always good and we love the atmosphere. Which we had a restaurant like this at home!

Ordered the Firehouse chicken sandwich and it far exceeded my expectations!!! They have a very large menu, my only disappointment is that I wish we had more time to come back to try more items on the menu! Excellent!!!

Best food we had in Seattle! We got biscuits & gravy and a sandwich with a side of fries that was incredible! We'll definitely be back to eat here many times!

Very solid vegan food with a wide selection of your typical breakfast dishes, but without animal products. We went for the biscuits and gravy--be warned that the portions are huge. Two biscuits cut in half, with two cups of gravy over the whole plate--it is decadent. The biscuits were excellent and the gravy extremely tasty. A nice balance of flavors. Decor is a bit blah towards grungy. Service was good.

Wayward is one of the best "home-style" restaurants in Seattle, vegan or not. Their menu ranges from "chicken" and waffles, to hearty burgers, to lumberjack breakfasts. All super-delicious! Their fries are amazing. Nearly everything I've had here has become an instant favorite, so it's nearly impossible to pick something off the menu each time I go. A few I keep coming back to are the Chiggen Parm sandwich, the breakfast biscuits, the Warlock sandwich, the classic burger... I could go on. I feel great going here knowing that it's all vegan, but I know that omnivores would be perfectly happy here, too. The new space on 65th is larger and more spacious, but still feels cozy and inviting. The staff is, as ever, friendly and welcoming. The only problem with this place is that the portions are so huge (and hugely delicious) that we never have room to try a dessert! It's a good problem to have to put up with. Try this place - you won't be disappointed, or hungry, afterwards!

We had breakfast and coffee at Wayward Vegan Cafe up on NE 65th St. The restaurant has 2 floors of seating with the second floor overlooking the first. We both ordered the bottomless coffee with soymilk cream. For a restaurant coffee, it was excellent! We started breakfast with a cinnamon roll. It was hard to believe it was vegan since it was so creamy and delicious! My wife ordered pancakes, and I ordered biscuits with gravy, tofu scramble, and bacon. The food was delicious! Being lactose intolerant, I was able to enjoy the gravy without feeling ill. Our waitress came by frequently and did an excellent job particularly in keeping our coffees topped off. It was a great way to start off the day.

2nd visit. Same great food. My partner and I went for lunch; she had a Very Veggie Omelet and I had a Bahn Mi sandwich. FOOD: 4.0. She said the omelet was "great". The Bahn Mi was excellent. Wasn't made with a baguette (with a crunch crust), but with a delicious soft white sub-type sandwich. Had the Tempeh Reuben on a previous visit - EXCELLENT! SERVICE: 4.0. Friendly and prompt. AMBIANCE: 4.5. Comfortable, clean, and bright.

Whether you are Vegan or not the good is incredible. I enjoyed the Country Fried Steak breakfast. Hearty and ultra-filling. Coffee was great. Atmosphere is open and well-lit. I had a really enjoyable time here. The rest of the menu looks amazing too and all of my friends were happy with what they chose as well. Have fun.

There is a four page menu with breakfast lunch and dinner options available all day. A group of friends and I went in today and all enjoyed delicious meals. I had the "tots in a blanket" I was so excited to try the vegan hollandaise and was not disappointed it was pretty good. I would much rather recommend the vegan alfredo sauce though. There are so many non meat and dairy choices the whipped cream on top of the italian sodas is amazing. Not one thing we tried today disappointed would definitely return. Highly recommend.

The food options were plentiful and very well prepared. The service was relaxed but well attended. We had the tofu scramble and the bikini bowl, both which were very flavorful.

The biggest issue is picking something on this menu it is yuuuuuge as the donald would say. The omelettes were something I've never had before at an all-veg restaurant and enjoyed it a lot.

This is the definite go to place for Vegans in Seattle. Their breakfasts include Suzanna's favorite, Tofuevos Rancheros with awesome fried potatoes. We still need to try their Omelettes, Scrambles, Pancakes, and Waffles. So little time... I've tried several lunch items, including my favorite, Chiggen Parm, which is a vegan version of Chicken Parmesan. All the sandwiches come with tasty french fries or potato salad. They also have drinks like (including beer) and desserts like Cherry Pie and Cinnamon Rolls. Everything, and I mean everything in the place is 100% plant based, which may be confusing to some folks because not all the menu items mention this, but rest assured it's all vegan. My one criticism is that with a few exceptions, almost every menu item is an analog of a something made out of meat. I'd prefer, if they'd introduce more non-analog menu items for lunch and dinner.

Checked their web site and it said nothing about it was only pick up and delivery with no sit in dining available. Finding this out on arrival, I advised them that a simple upfront message on their web site would have saved a wasted journey, they told me that wasn’t an easy thing to do…hence the one star. Shame as they’ve got a great menu, there was just nowhere to sit and eat anything from it!

I loved it! I was hesitant to give this place a try at first since the food did not look too pleasing from the photos. however, the food might not be the healthiest (for vegan food) but it sure hit home! I can't find what I had on their online menu but it was a muffin sandwich with a slice of grilled tofu, cheese, and sausage. Not going to lie, it tasted like the McDonald's Egg McMuffin *which I miss!*. We also had the pancake (tasted exactly how my mom made it when I was a child). The Biscuit and Gravy combo were not that good. Too dry and lacked flavor but I was told by my partner that the Tots-In-A-Blanket Burrito was excellent. The best way to start this breakfast is with their vegan White Russian! Delicious.

Sooooo many vegan options, and everything we got was GREAT! we got the vegan meatball sub, buffalo wings, filet mignon, and biscuits and gravy. I want to cry knowing I can't try everything on the menu. Not only that, everyone we encountered there, from the greeter to the waitress to the cashier, was the nicest person ever. If my family ever moves to Seattle, we agree that we will be here at least once a week.

Really great vegan food. Breakfast available all day!!! Tons of options. It took me forever to decide.

I have been here once before and really enjoyed it...this time i ordered the 'fried chicken' and waffles i was really looking forward to it as i had made my decision before i even got there...i got it and the waffle was totally undercooked still gooey and wet inside so i sent it back and they made me another one which was exactly the same if not worse than before our server had dissappered on a break so we talked to another server who didnt have much to say so i had to choose something else meanwhile my sister had finished her meal which she enjoyed she had the herb biscuit...it took me a while to decide what to try next as i had my heart set in the chicken and waffles i did try the chicken part and it was suuuper greasy and gross so i wouldnt have eaten that part either i finailly decided on a griddle combo with the french toast this was good i wasnt keen on the burger type thing and the temph sausage but thats just personal taste the french toast and the tofu scramble were good i was just glad to finally get some breakfast a group of guys ordered food nearby and it all looked really gd i would reccommend not ordering the waffles unless you like undercooked waffles and greassy 'chicken.' The service was not great at all no engaging in conversation they were not busy and as i said the server went on break she seemed nice but when she was gone the service was lacking this is not to say i wont go again i really want to try more things on the menu perhaps an omlette next time...

Wonderful, filling, flavorful food without animals in it! What could be better? I love this place! I had the philly sandwich and it was marvelous and enough to last the rest of the day! Good prices, great food and right across the street from sidecar for Pigs Peace!

We ordered three meals and shared them...indecisive!! It was so good. Such a good place to have. I think all food lifestyles can appreciate this establishment.

Went to Wayward for the first time after reading many, many positive reviews, and it didn't disappoint! Every item on the menu is Vegan which is wonderful for people who are vegan by choice or for those with food allergies. We had the french toast, pancakes, chicken parmesan sandwich, and the hamburger. Everyone loved their meals! And it was all vegan!

Being vegan can make travel a little difficult but when we stumbled on to this cafe, it was a delight! Although the atmosphere is a little hectic for us (it caters to a younger crowd - I am retired) just having a fully vegan menu to choose from was great. I had a delicious, scrumptious hoagy sandwich with "prime rib", cheeze, red onions and sauce. It was beyond good and my non-vegan husband couldn't have told it from the real thing, It is in a bit of an out-of-the-way area for many visitors to Seattle but we were there to shop at the vegan Pigs Peace Sanctuary store and noticed the cafe just across the street. It is worth eating here whether you are vegan or not. Yummy, yummy food!

I took the trip out to Wayward Cafe after talking to a staffer at Left Bank Books (the anarchist bookshop near Pike Market!). My hubby and I were looking for suggestions for places a vegan and a meat eater could both be happy and it wouldn't cost a million bucks. (We were staying in a downtown hotel, surrounded by very expensive places without much to offer for vegans) She recommended Wayward Cafe, which is open daily until 4 pm. We stopped by yesterday and even though it was an all-vegan spot, my meat-eating husband was satisfied. For $20 we had two filling entrees. I don't remember the names of the entrees we got - but one was a toast with gravy and greens. we liked this a lot. We also got a breaded/fried fake chicken thing with biscuits and fries. We liked the biscuits quite a bit. It was worth a visit and I know if I lived in Seattle, I would go there again.

Order online no dine in at this time. Ordered a hot cake and side of hash-browns as well as Fried Chicken and waffle. All was excellent. Would definitely go back. Love all the plant based restaurants in Seattle.

What can I say? We've been here repeated times and things are pretty consistent - Good down-home VEGAN food at great prices, fairly helpful staff (you bus your own tables) and reliable service (this isn't a fast-food joint, don't expect your meal in five minutes, but I've never waited over long either). The atmosphere is funky-college-student-dive sorta hang out. Not bad though. The food is probably the reason you'll come here though. Vegan food! And a wide variety of tasty choices. The sandwiches, burgers, salads, tempeh and fried "chiggen" tofu are completely awesome, all fresh, and completely, wonderfully delicious!!! Their fries and hashbrowns are the best I've had. This is NOT vegan "health food", but crispy, breaded, deep fried, salty, greasy diner style eats that we all crave once in a while. However, the soup is from a can (or box?) so don't order that, you can get the same thing at the grocery store. I don't know if I'm picky or not ordering what others do though, as their breakfasts have yet to impress me. The tofu scramble tastes like salt and too much turmeric, the french toast is gummy and overly sweet with the bread dry and stale in the middle. Gravy for biscuit-n-gravy is overly thick like paste, tastes 'flour-y" and salty. Sorry Wayward, I really WANT to like your breakfasts, as it seems everyone but me does! Don't let that chase you off though!! Otherwise, everything else is awesome and totally worth coming back for, vegan or not. NOTE: They have moved, the address listed above may or may not be correct. They are in a newer location, address: 5253 University Way NE, Seattle. Google with this address if you haven't been before.

One of the first places in the US that I visited after going plant-based, this is where I learned that a vegan Reuben was not only possible, but that it could hold its own against any of the best Reubens out there. (This is not hyperbole. I'd put this sandwich right up there with the one from Rein's Deli outside of Hartford, and any of the sandwiches that I've had in NYC.) And the Chico Vegan Melt? Good LORDS that's an incredible sandwich! In addition to the crazy-good food, the service is friendly, welcoming and attentive. The only hiccup that had was when I made a mid-stream request to switch from the small bar to a table, there was a slight delay when the server had to check with somebody first. Not sure why that happened, but it could have just been somebody new. Barely worth noting, but it happened. Otherwise, service was flawless.

This is the third time I have eaten here and it’s still the best! I am traveling with my mom who isn’t vegan and she had the chicken teriyaki and absolutely loved it! Everything inside had is always so good here! Cute restaurant and friendly staff!

We had a family dinner here and it was good but not great. They have a big menu and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner all day. The Bah Min sandwich had good filling but too much bread. The biscuits and gravy had really good gravy but very average biscuits. The side of greens with garlic was small and not very garlicky. The eggs Benedict and gyro were both good. This is the kind of vegan place that tries to replicate meat and non vegan dishes but should focus on good vegan food instead. The service was very good, friendly and fast. The atmosphere nothing special.

A comfy environment with great service and delicious home-cooked veg food. Happy we made the trip across the city. Parking will be tricky (depending on time of day), but don't let that stop you! Can't wait to stop in again.

As tourists to Seattle we stumbled across Wayward Vegan Cafe and were so impressed we came back the next day! I have been craving a club sandwich for years as they arnt easy to come across in Australia - even more so when your vegan! So the club hit the spot so well! Would recommend to anyone wanting some delicious comfort food and arnt worried about calories! My boyfriend could have eaten here everyday! Definitely worth the drive over to the University District! And walk across the road to Vegan Haven and support a wonderful sanctuary by buying some groceries or vegan wares!

Very delicious vegan dishes, especially the Tuscany Alfredo. The organic strawberry lemonade was yummy as well. Excellent service.

I've been turning more towards the vegan diet this past year, and ever since living in the Washington area, I've been on my search for more and more vegan restaurants. On my way to SEATAC one day, I finally decided to stop in here for some brunch, and I'm glad I did! I would first like to say, don't get discouraged about the word "vegan", just come here and try it, the food is very delicious, you won't regret it! Staff was welcoming, and were willing to answer any question imaginable. Staff was also knowledgeable about the different menu items. The food is very well portioned, big eats basically! You will get your money's worth for sure! The menu had so many great food choices, it was hard to choose. Highly recommend this café, even if you're not a vegan, you will be truly amazed about the food here!

Though the Reuben was okay, it lacked the spices and herbs in real pastrami. I recently had Harlow, Portland's beet Reuben and it tasted like the real thing as did the one I enjoyed at Fermentor, Portland. You might want to consider studying pastrami recipes and adding those herbs and spices to your sandwich somehow. I'd love to come back.

My daughter is vegan, and was very excited to try all-vegan restaurants on our recent trip to Seattle. Our first stop was the Wayward Vegan Cafe, and it did not disappoint. I chose the Sunrise Poutine, which is crispy potatoes topped with a mushroom gravy. It was delicious and I enjoyed it very much. My daughter chose the waffle with fried "chicken" and a side of mac and "cheese". She was thrilled to be able to eat old favorite foods. We stopped here a second time, and this time I ordered the Tator Tot Hash, which was scrambled tofu over tator tots. My daughter had the Totchas, which were tator tots topped with cheese sauce and sour cream. I promise you will not miss the meat, cheese, or eggs should you try this restaurant!

I don't think it gets much better than Wayward for vegetarians. I've traveled all over the country and seek out veggie restaurants as I go, luckily I live close enough to hit up Wayward on my trips from the south sound. The new location is fantastic, with a very open concept and room for seating on a bottom and top floor. I park in the back, hoping that is kosher, seems like the signs apply to those spaces. The wait staff has been incredibly friendly and checks in with you just enough. I can't say enough about the menu. Want breakfast, you have your choice of so many flavor combinations from vegan omelets, scrambles, sandwiches. The french toast is the best I've ever had, vegan or not. It doesn't have that awful eggy flavor of normal fresh toast, is perfectly crispy, sweet and absolutely mouth watering. I've had the Monte Cristo, which is a huge amount of food, and ate every single bite. Of the veggie meats, many props to the sausage, the bacon isn't my favorite, ham is tasty. Recently had a Cage Fighter omelet which had all the meats, vegan cheese and served with hash browns. It was incredibly good, sadly the egg wasn't cooked as long as it may have needed, but since it was vegan I wasn't overly worried about that. They have plenty of vegan burgers, sandwiches and wraps to tempt whatever meal you feel like eating at that time. I'm a sucker for a good vegan breakfast at anytime of the day, so mostly stayed with that trend. You get a lot of food for the money and you will enjoy every bite. There are healthier options and some gut punchers, if you are a vegetarian or vegan you'll basically be in heaven with the sheer amount of choices you have. Tried different things each time and never been disappointed. The best part is, they serve some pre-made sandwiches at Vegan Haven (not sure of other places) and got to bring home some Chiggin' Wraps, Breakfast Sandwiches and other goodness back home to Olympia with me. My one wish is they'd expand the distro to the south sound so we could grab some at the Co-Ops down here along with our Quickie Too sandwiches. If you happen to be in the University area or traveling through Seattle, it is absolutely worth a stop to eat here. I dream of the french toast and can't wait until I can get some more.

We took the family here for a vegan dinner option. We all tried different things and tasted each other's meals. The Chicken Fried Steak came out on top! We were all pleasantly surprised on the quality of the food. Nice dinner overall and I'd go back again! Who knew vegan could be so tasty?!

If you are looking for fine, 5 star dining, don't come here, because you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a great, small cafe with fantastic food and friendly service, you will be delighted. You get your menu when you come in (it's on the right). Peruse, choose what you want and go up to order. The friendly waiter will come by and deliver your food when it's ready. Everything is vegan, they have a great, extensive gluten-free menu which delighted my non-wheat stomach. Great little place and we will be coming back.

Awesome vegan restaurant in Seattle. Had their Steak Breakfast- super yummy! Especially the creamy hash browns. Very reasonably priced, excellent service. So far my fav vegan restaurant in Seattle!

This is one of my all-time favorite veggie restaurants, with a menu full of awesome vegan comfort food that is perfect for brunch/lunch/dinner. The new location is lovely, and the sit-down service is great. Their biscuits are not to be missed!

Due to power outage in the U District today, we decided to try take-out from Wayward Vegan Cafe. I am soooo happy we did. It was extremely busy (waiting time for a table around 15-20 minutes) so it took about 20 minutes to get our food but everything we tried was great. I ordered the Basic Breakfast, Fried Chicken and Waffles, Steak and fries and a chicken burger for our family of 4 to share. Enjoyed all of it and we will be back to try more from the extensive menu.

Finding decent vegan options in restaurants is difficult in many establishments, and there typically is a lack of diversity in meal choices. Wayway Cafe has all of the foods that anyone would love to eat but all vegan. They have really worked to make their meals delicious and they have so many options. It is worth checking out if you are looking for a good meat-free meal.

Hubby and I were in Seattle for a teaching trip and we had dinner here two nights in a row. We tried the Ex Benedict, the biscuits and gravy, the Pioneer, and the Philly Seitan. We also had the side Cesar salad and the mac and cheese. All of it was really good. They have some lighter fare options on the menu but we obviously went "comfort food". We'd have to go back another 5-6 times to try the majority of menu items that appealed to us. We'll definitely be back every time we can make it to Seattle.

When we're in the University District, we usually stop at our favourite teriyaki place but my wife likes vegan/vegitarian food. I'm a committed carnivore, but I do appreciate veggie food once in a while. This is a nice place if you're looking for a bohemian style, bus-your-own table at a reasonable price vegan restaurant. It's a little "grungy", but has tons of atmosphere. The staff is very helpful in making choices, if you have questions about vegan food. I think they see themselves as strong advocates for the whole dietary lifestyle. They have all day breakfasts as well, which is a nice feature. Lots of tempeh, tofu and seitan boiled, braised, deep fried in innumerable ways. Just goes to show you don't have to sacrifice taste for good health. They have a very good selection on their menu.

By far my most visited place to eat. The menu is extensive and the food is delicious. You can get something healthy or comfort food. Their cinnamon rolls are to die for! The only downside is that it gets quite busy after 10am on weekends and you have to wait for 20-30 min for a table if you arrive for brunch. Yet, the wait is worth it!

Eaten here with my vegan son on numerous occasions. Nice atmosphere good service eclectic space Will go again

Abundant vegan dishes breakfast, lunch and dinner served all day. Nice vegan Alfredo sauce an vegan chicken. Informal setup. Nice!

We were on a 3-day visit to Seattle, and loved this restaurant so much that we ate thrice...the same dish twice, in fact. Loved their vegan omlette, and bikini bowl. Very clean place, courteous staff

We have been going to Wayward Cafe for years! They consistently produce some of the best vegan food in Seattle. Their menu is diverse and plentiful serving breakfast or lunch all day. The quantity of food is generous and many items on the menu could be guilty pleasures. For any one sympathetic to plant based food, Wayward is a must!

I love Wayward and eat there every time I come to Seattle. Service is fast and everyone who has ever served me has been super friendly. The main problem is deciding what to eat off the huge menu. I love the Farmer Hash and the Basic Biscuit. I tried the Reuben which was pretty good but not the best I've ever had. Tried a bite of the big mac type sandwich which was good but too decadent for me. Best potatoes anywhere.

Liked it better a few years ago when George had the place and called it"Good Morning Healing Earth". That was the best homestyle vegan cooking ever.

My wife and I recently visited Seattle, then ended up finding Wayward Café. Look for parking along the street adjacent to the public transit parking lot. Also, be sure to check behind the restaurant, although it isn't marked, Wayward shares lots there too. We frequented Wayward Cafe, 3 times to be exact. We absolutely LOVE this establishment! The food is reasonably priced (relatively cheap actually, considering the portion sizes), portions are huge, and the everything is so good! If I had to make a recommendation, I would certainly steer new customers to "Biscuit Mountain". The biscuits are soft on the inside with a crisp outer layer, the gravy is lovingly savory, and the faux chicken is fried to perfection. Wayward Café is the quintessential restaurant for vegans to showcase to carnivores. Every visitor in Seattle should stop by! Love this place!

My husband and I stopped at this place on our final day in Seattle, and boy are we glad we did. Had we stopped by sooner, we would have gone more than once, no doubt. The place was packed (always a good sign). We grabbed menus by the door, decided on what to order, made our way to the cash register where we ordered and picked up a "number" to place on our table. Be warned, you will have to stand around waiting for someone to be finished with their table (everyone buses their own table) before you can sit. Coffee, water, napkins, silverware are all self-serve. When you order/pay there is a place on the receipt for a tip, so you essentially have to tip before you've had any service. They do bring the food to your table though. And boy is it good. I hope the entire kitchen splits the tips. Dave ordered the "Country Bumpkin" (smile) - Open-faced herb biscuit (to die for) topped with tofu scramble and country-style sausage gravy, with a side of steamed greens with garlic. This was a large plate of food and was really tasty. I was only allowed two bites, and I am still thinking about the biscuit. There was plenty of sausage in the gravy, and the tofu was well flavored and plentiful. I had The Warlock a sandwich on sourdough with- crispy fried chiggen (I think this was tofu - it was CRISPY and DELICIOUS) with a chipotle-tahini sauce and a side of fries. The sauce was really yummy, and again, the chiggen was so much better than I had even hoped for. The fries were fresh out of the fryer and lightly crisp. They serve breakfast and lunch fare during their open hours. They close early (4pm), so plan accordingly. Many different types of people were eating when we were there on a Saturday, young and old alike. Aside from the initial confusion about how it all worked, I really enjoyed the experience and the food, and we will be back the next time we are in Seattle. Check out Pizza Pi too, they are across the street and also delicious. The University District has many options for vegan dining.

This is one of the very best vegan restaurants ever! We have been there multiple times and everything we had was excellent. Don’t forget to try the hot chocolate! It was the best I ever tasted!
Vegan Utopia.
Living in British Columbia, especially Victoria, is truly painful when it comes to food. When you have a homogenized population catering to cruise ship passengers and other tourists, with a population base that is British, white, and insular looking (it is an island, after all), you will simply get over-priced mediocrity. Being a vegan is grim here, despite the hype. Going to Wayward Cafe makes this pain much worse. What a gem! Two levels of airy space, lots of windows, and cute/funky and youthful staff who know their clientele. No wonder they have been around since 2004, and why they get so many excellent reviews. The menu is so huge; you'd have to visit a dozen times to scratch the surface. Seriously! Coffee amazing. Best vegan creamer EVER. I chose the Breakfast Club, a vegan Monte Cristo. It was stupidly decadent and delicious. Savoury and sweet. A good maple syrup. And the hash browns are possibly the best I have had of that style of hash browns. The partner had 'fried chicken' and waffles. Also amazing. The chicken was breaded and scarily reminiscent of chicken, and I last had chicken 28 years ago!!! This is exemplary vegan cuisine at very fair prices, with very large portions. My only regret is not discovering this place earlier. At any time of day, this place a a MUST, MUST visit for vegans, and a great place for non-vegans to discover what the cuisine can be at its' best, where you can also feel good about the positive contribution you have made to animals, the planet, and your health, even for just one meal.
