Your best bet is to get a spot on the deck in the back of the restaurant. Get the olive oil/balsamic sampler to start. Don't forget a cheese plate to mirror your wine choices. Go for the "tastes" as they are generous pours. And a view of the pacific to boot! There is nothing wrong with a little day wine buzz.

On the shop side, I really liked that you could sample everything. They had a wide array of not just olive oils but spreads, jellies, vinegar, etc. And again, you can try it all. On the bar side, they have a cute little space (well, I mean the shop part is cute too) with a nice little patio out back where you can get a glimpse of the ocean. The happy hour deal was good (1/2 off glasses of wine), which is what drew me in, but otherwise it would be a bit pricey to do much more than one glass every now and then.

The glasses of wine and food can be overpriced, but there is a beautiful view and they make great olive oils.

What a nice little gem. The food was tasty. Wine delicious and half off on Wednesday’s. Quiet atmosphere with a beautiful view of the ocean. Please give this review and photos a helpful vote.

We were looking for quiet place to enjoy some food, wine, and the sunset and happened upon We Olive. We were staying a La Jolla Cove and were able to walk up the stairs from the hotel to the restaurant on Prospect Street. The wine bar is tucked into the back of a shop that sells various olive oils, nuts etc. the staff was extremely helpful and warm and aided in our selection of a great bottle of California red wine and a delicious hummus platter. We also had panini is with kale salad. the porch overlooking the ocean was intimate and the music playing was a perfect blend of oldies that added to the ambiance. (Samba pa it by Santana; Otis redding sittin on the dock of the bay). Highly recommend for a quiet, friendly evening!

Great place for olive oil, flat bread, salad, and wine. Ocean view in the back was beautiful! People are really nice and very helpful! We enjoyed ourselves. We bought 5-pack sampler for $30.

Eat on the patio, like in Italy... taste wine, order a cheese plate or salad. Nice petite meals while watching the surfers. A olive oil shop with mini patio dining.

My husband and I had read about this place in a magazine at our hotel, but had semi-forgotten about it when we stumbled across it while we were exploring La Jolla. We went in for the store aspect but were wowed by our lunch on the balcony as well as the olive oil we purchased. Lunch was great, the olive oil and bread sampler was fantastic and the views were stellar. I would highly recommend We Olive as a stop when you are in La Jolla.

One of our most favorite stops. Opportunity to try wines in small portions, good beers, however the olive oils and meat/cheese tray was unique, quite good. Nice view of the ocean from the patio. Well worth the stop!!

Friendly staff and unique food. Just popped in, and we were treated like VIP guests. A very pleasant visit! Recommend the Jalepeno Olive Oil here!

Fantastic for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We loved the peach white balsamic vinegar and the Meyer lemon olive oil. They also have a wonderful wine bar with a wonderful view.

Really nice wine bar to drink a glass or two of some really nice wines whist enjoying the ocean views and the sunsets. The staff are really knowledgable on the different wines and olive oils that they stock. Nice menu of snacks to with your wine as well. The flatbreads are delicious

Grab a few bottles of incredibly flavorful olive oils and balsamic vinegars for sure. But make some time to enjoy wine tasting and hors d' oeuvres on the back patio with views of the cove in the distance.

Great place to have a glass of wine, have a great cheese plate, sit on the deck next to the fire and hang out with friends!

We were on a ship tour and decided to stop here. What a great find. The staff was so friendly. The artichoke flat bread was delish. Alas, we live on Long Island. Wish we had the recipe for the flatbread. If you are lucky enough to live in the area stop in there

I could not believe the selection and the incredible view from the patio in the back! Go for happy hour, decent wine selection and friendly staff!

They may seem like an Olive Oil shop but stroll to the back. There you will find a slice of the La Jolla coastline.Enough of a view to take in a great glass of wine a topa, flatbread pizza or a salad. Our server was very knowledgeable of their wine list and had great suggestions on pairings. She made sure we tried a complimentary olive oil tasting plate. We enjoyed this place because it wasn't overly touristy or overpriced. I would describe this as more of a local gem. We did take home a small bottle of their Basal infused Olive Oil. It elevates simple pasta to a hole new level.

Combination of wine, olive oils and tasty meals. We had lunch twice and sampled various wines and olive oils and a great balsamico. Try their flatbread with olive oil, prosciutto and parmesan - delicious - at the bar It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Great view for enjoying a glass of wine. Interesting selection of wines... many are unique. The food is awesome along with the service. Take time to try the oils too. They will ship the wines, oils and other things. Nice for happy hour or lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Great local spot! Not too expensive, loved the calamari! Also the fries were great with the sauces!!

This store is the BEST! Infused olive oils and white flavored balsamics were my favorite. The variety and quality were amazing. Lots of spreads, nuts, and other stuff, too. And wine as well. Have to experience it to believe it.

We stopped in after pricing some multi-carat diamond rings in the shops lining the street. Who buys a $40,000 ring on a whim? The service was excellent, very friendly. There is a great wine selection and decent beer selection. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the view from the balcony in the back.

We popped in for a drink and snacks after being recommended. Flat sparkling, warm white wine and the slowest service ever despite being almost empty. Bar tenders all just chatting at the bar. People next to us had asked for a wine list twenty minutes ago so we gave them ours. Totally unapologetic barman/waiter. Such a shame

A cornucopia for connoisseurs of all devices. The flat bread, Sicilian Olives were perfection and Morgan a true sommelier made my Memorial Day extra special providing pairing suggestions from the California winery wall map guide. The open air patio with "green flash" sunset was a added bonus.

This is a comfortable little wine bar & olive oil marked. The here are a handful of bar tables positioned to look out over the Pacific Ocean. The wine list is great with a mix of standard and non-standard grape varieties to choose from. Since they are also a wine shop, if you find a bottle you want to take home you just ask your waiter to put a bottle (or a case) aside for you to take home. My wife and I visited for happy hour. I would highly recommend you do the same, but do not be surprised if you end up staying for dinner as well.

We shared a sandwich and a bottle of wine whilst sat on the deck. Service was excellent and the shop is very easy to spend time in

We went there for dinner and drinks. It is a very cute and trendy place for dinner. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the ocean. They have a good wine selection and the good is very yummy. We ordered flatbread , which was very tasty. It is located in downtown

this place has a great location and the idea of selling olive oil and other stuff makes great, it has a beautiful view all over la jolla beach and food is ok, try panini

Late afternoon drinks in an outstanding location with a fantastic list of wines and a breathtaking view. Relaxed environment to meet friends or family and even better to take a date. Staff are very friendly and knowledgable.

You would never know this patio existed at the back of the olive oil store. So glad we found it. It was so pleasant to sit outside enjoying the partial view of the ocean. The wine list has lovely wines. We shared a chauccaturie (spelling?) board with a variety of cheeses, cured meats and relishes that was a great accompaniment to our bottle of California rose.

We sampled We Olive as part of the Bite of San Diego tour. The staff is very knowledgeable in regard to their olive oil and wine offerings. Olive oil tastings are available.to all visitors. The food menu is small but has very interesting and delicious creations. All of their foods are sustainable. We shall definitely return.

Small tables out back with ocean view. Unique olive oils and balsamic vinegars. You can do a taste tests. The shop has so much atmosphere. They have a lovely wine selection and this is a place worth stopping for a bite.

This little spot doesn't look like a restaurant from the front, or even from just inside. You need to walk to the back to see the few high top tables inside, and then the small patio with high top tables outside, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We opted for inside; padded chairs with backs v.s. wooden stools outside; way more comfortable for us. I had a chopped salad with pepperoni; it had arugula for the greens, cubes of goat cheese, a light italian dressing, and was rather large for the price ($14). Hubby had the salami panini, and he loved it. Really fresh ciabatta bread, pickled onions, arugula, lots of salami, and a light olive oil to dress it. Came with a nice sized arugula green salad. We had an appetizer of sweet red peppers with goat cheese and salami and balsamic. Fantastic with our red wines. Waiters were quite knowledgeable about the miriad of red wine choices. A nice atmosphere, but they need more art on the walls. Plain light green concrete walls....almost made me want to sit on those hard stools outside just to see the ocean. But not quite. A really nice meal!

Stop in for a delicious sampling of flavored olive oils, balsamic vinegars, and unique ltd. wines. Let's not forget a thorough background to the history of olive oil, and it's processing styles/requirements. Experience the We Olive Tasting opportunity, available on a regular basis, or join the Bite San Diego's La Jolla Walking Tour (bitesandiego.com). It's a nice ending to a historical excursion. The staff is friendly, accommodating, and pleasantly informed of all things olive (in addition to wine, and vinegar). It's definitely a fun way to learn. Enjoy!

If you live in La Jolla or are just visiting pop into We Olive. The olive oils are delish (you can taste them all) and once you've finished with that and great epicurean shopping there is a small terrace with seating to enjoy a glass of wine and small plates.

We’ve been coming here for a few years. The wines, olive oils, and vinegars are excellent. The staff is very knowledgeable too. We stay at La Valencia and come to buy wines and always get excellent help from everyone. Wish you were in Atlanta!

We Olive is such a fun place. The staff are knowledgeable about what they are selling and gave great suggestions. The atmosphere is nice with a nice outdoor space.

We found the place by accident and ended up returning a couple of days later as well. The flatbread was excellent and the Italian sandwich was enormous and almost to big to eat. The staff were friendly and overall a great experience. Would definitely return if we visit La Jolla again

We were going to eat lunch at George's, but they treated us so shabbily we left and walked down the street. We took a chance with We Olive and it was a great accident. We each had a couple of tastes of wine and shared an appetizer and a salad. The sample and the walnut, apple salad really hit the spot. Our server treated us like royalty and overall we were lucky the way things worked out.

Wanted a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel. They had a nice list to choose from. Let us taste a splash of what we were interested in. Fun place to buy olive oils and vinegar too.

Recently I wrote a review of We Olive in La Jolla which was not positive. I could not believe I received an email from the venue to apologize and invite me back. My husband and I accepted the invite and can't say enough at the reception we received. We tasted a variety of California wines and had their cheese plate. The wines and cheese were lovely. In addition, we did an Olive Oil tasting and as someone who isn't a fan of olive oil discovered some delicious new oils that we will definitely try again. In particular, lemon and peach were great. Mike, the manager, was very attentive and the wait staff couldn't do enough for us. We will definitely be back and highly recommend. Thank you Morgan

This is the place you want to go to sit out side and sample great food and wine. (Flights) Every waiter we had, we loved by far my favorite little nook to spend the sunny 'til twilight hours. It's a tiny little deck area. Don't let the "Olive" oil section fool you. Keep walking back, cross your fingers and hope for a stool out in the back.

Wonderful selection of olive oils and balsamic vinegar. The peach balsamic is heavenly. Lunch over looking the Pacific, good atmosphere and friendly helpful service.

Some friends and I were looking for a light lunch with a view, something different than Brockton Villa, our normal go-to. We decided to give We Olive and Wine a try, and it was perfect. We got there early enough to sit right at the railing, nice view of the ocean, slight breeze, pretty close to perfect San Diego weather. We had some wine, flatbread and the cheese plate, everything was very tasty. The energy is that of a upscale coffeehouse. I'm pretty sure we'll be back.

We had the best time trying different wines at the happy hour! The selection and service was great! Food was delicious but small portions.

We stopped in this restaurant by chance. Looking for a glass of wine while walking through La Jolla we decided to go in and browse for a few gifts (great selection of oils and vinegar). What a delightful surprise! It was early evening and we ended up ordering a bottle of wine and appetizers (try the cheese tray) and enjoying the sunset from the back deck from one amazing view! We loved that they offered boutique wines and tried several (we were on vacation after all!). The staff was very nice and helpful. This was one of our favorites evenings during this trip.

My wife and I were sightseeing and decided to check out all the olive oil. We were surprised to find out that they also serve lunch since the tables are in the back. We ate on the deck with a small view of the ocean. We shared a very nice arugula salad and the artichoke flatbread which featured their olive oil. They were nice enough to bring us extra plates.

We stopped in for a quick glass of wine and had a nice breezy view overlooking the coast. A great touch is the olive oil tasting with the breads!!

Stopped in on a raining Friday afternoon after some shopping. The service (wish i had gotten her name) was outstanding. She would not stop offer wines until I was a 100% happy. The light food and great wine with excellent company made for a bright spot in a cloudy day. I highly recommend their own honey mustard.

Good wine and a simple menu. However the bar area looks like an afterthought with terrible lighting. Pleasant staff and probably better in daylight

Simple well cooked food. Amazing list of wines by the small tasting or large glass. Nice patio with view of the sea. Very friendly people and lovely olive oils and balsamic. The caprese panini was yummy and the Roussanne white wine delicious. A great little casual spot with nothing pretentious. One small thing they could consider getting a coffee machine. Otherwise loved it.

I came across this wine bar by accident. The unique sauces and dips drew me in until I found out it was a wine bar in the back with a beautiful ocean view. I sat down to have a drink and happy hour cheese board. The waiter was informative and gave me two wines to try he thought I would like. He was right! I purchased a wine and two dips before leaving

Place Must go in La Jolla !totally in love with the atmosphere and service!delicious apps ,wines and amazing view! Surprised it wasn't crowded and I got a chance to enjoy the view! Will definitely be back!

Tried to go to George Restaurant but there was a special event there so we ended up here and it was pleasantly quieter and the food was more like a tapas bar and good wine choices. Not for someone that likes a lot of food choices but nice for lighter eating.

We stopped in here for the tasting. So much more than we expected. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We ended up buying 5 bottles of oil and had lunch. Delicious!

We went here before going for a meal. It's a lovely little place with friendly, knowledgeable staff. We got some nibbles to eat with our wine, which were delicious. I don't usually like olives, but these were beautiful-could've eaten a bowl all by myself!

This is a hidden little jem along Prospect street , You need to look and walk past the store part of this place to get to the wine bar. A small but fun patio with small tables and stools , Nice selection of wine by the glass or bottle , a nice selection of cheese , meats and breads. Go for sunset and and enjoy . Staff is helpful and interactive Parking can be an u=issue in the are , go one balck back to find some space on the street or public places.

We stopped by to look at the huge selection of olive-oil-based products and ended up getting something to eat. We sat out on a small terrace with a view of the ocean (squeezed between two buildings). The food was nice and well prepared and the selection of craft beers was good also.

Had delicious cheese tray made to take back to hotel room!!! Also tried some great wines at the tasting bar!

My girlfriend and I have been to We Olive a few times, usually for a light dinner (small bites only) at sunset. Great service, great food quality (from scratch) and decent prices for LJ

Enjoyed our wine and flat breads so much! Would definitely stop by again! View is limited, but high quality.

I stopped here for lunch, it was delicious, the wine selection was great and I got to enjoy the amazing view.

After a long walk from pacific beach to la jolla, the caves and the beautiful views dursty and hungry. Occasionally I found the shop and discovered the little nice terrace with ocean view. The dip of humus and goat chees were excellent, the side salad an aromatic creation. I enjoyed the meal with a matching good glass of red wine. Great.

I have been purchasing my oils and vinegars from We Olive for a few years now. I always get the garlic olive oil and the lemon olive oil. These are just practical for all kinds of cooking and salad dressings. My newest purchase is the while balsamic vinegar. I prefer it over regular balsamic for a lighter salad dressing. However, I do love all their balsamic vinegars as well. I also buy truffle salt here that my son puts on popcorn, pasta, and french fries. They have a helpful staff and you can taste everything before you purchase.

We had just checked into our apt in La Jolla for a much anticipated week of doing nothing in earshot of the crash of breakers and knew we needed a bit of lunch. We weren't sure where to go (we lived in La Jolla eons ago, in the 1980s, but things do change) so we ambled down Prospect in a northerly direction. We window shopped, noted a gelateria, and thought about what we might want to eat. Neither of us were starving but I was interested in a glass of wine and something savory but light. We Olive was across the street--advertising olive oil and a wine bar. Seemed just right. It was quiet--but then the first full week of January is not the social high season here. We asked about lunch and were ushered into the back, where we chose to sit on the deck. (Damn. Didn't bring a camera, left my cell phone in the hotel back in Philadelphia, and the view of the ocean was incredible.) We both chose panini, my husband the one with salami and I the one with chicken. We both went for the "Italy blend" wine and it was very good. So we sat there, watching the breakers roll in, sipping wine and loving the warm crunch and great flavors of our paninis--to say nothing of the giant heap of arugula dress with balsamic, olive oil and something vaguely citrusy. The servers were attentive and helpful. And if I had been sitting in a comfortable chair rather than a bar stool I'd be sitting there still. Later on I saw that our landlady texted me with a recommendation we consider a glass of wine at We Olive. Even better than we found it on our own. On the way out I looked at olive oil and balsamic vinegars. And you get to TASTE everything! Not long ago I would have been grossed out by the idea of swilling straight olive oil but now? MMMmmmmmm. I got a taste of the balsamic imported from Italy too and just about died. It. was. so. incredibly. delicious! But it was the kind of balsamic your drizzle on strawberries or ice cream or a fragment of Parmesan cheese. What I needed was vinegar I could use for salad dressing and there was some of that back at the apartment. But who knows. Maybe I will shop again before we leave.

Excellent selection of wines and wine tasting options. Superb canapes, appetizers and salads. Great (simple wooden) seating especially on the patio with ocean view.

Love this place, it's cozy and has a really good view of the water. It's a nice spot to grab an appetizer and glass of champagne or wine.

Tried a couple of red wines they had a discount this night on bottles had a few eats recommend the hummus

Had a glass of wine and prosciutto dates with blood orange balsamic! Great small outside deck ( w heaters!) with a view of the water! We will go back.

Went in because the store looked interesting during our walk uptown...amazed by the delicious flavors once we came in! Adam and I were just walking uptown when we saw this cute little storefront and decided to stop in since my favorite local store back home sells gourmet oils... but not wine. Wow, are we glad we stopped. The flatbreads were to die for, the wines each more delicious than the last and the view was just lovely! Definitely check it out.

There's a very nice We Olive in our hometown, but we rarely visit it ... choosing, instead, to take our business to the We Olive in La Jolla. After all, in La Jolla you can enjoy a bowl of olives and a glass of wine while overlooking the Pacific Ocean!

We found this fabulous place while walking along the street and what a find it was! The service, the atmosphere and the food! Delicious tasting plates - one of my favourite places in La Jolla now! We sat on the balcony with our rose wine, and even though we were a little early for the kitchen, we were still offered bread with olive oil, some olives and other nibbles until the kitchen opened. I love this place - would highly recommend it and hope to return one day!

We go to We Olive every so often to fill our bottle with their Fig Balsamic. This time we decided to have lunch there and do some wine tasting. Great appetizers and flat breads. We sat towards the back to get a wonderful view of the ocean. You can sit inside or outside on their patio. We love their different Balsamics and olive oils. You can taste them all before you buy. Fun place.

Popped in for a late afternoon glass of wine. My wife had a Napa rose and I had a Napa chardonnay. Both very nice and reasonably priced. Friendly low ket=y service in a nice location overlooking the ocean.

We Olive has an amazing happy hour deal with delicious food and great wine on Wednesday afternoon/evening. We sampled a bunch of their appetizers to go along with our wine and it was perfect. The server came around a couple of times with olive oil samples while we were eating and it added a nice dimension to our conversation.

Delicious foods with very tasteful olive oils/balsamic vinegar drippings. Great view with a wonderful breeze made for a great lunch. Service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend for a light meal.

Small balcony at the back of the main shop affords great views of the Pacific as you end your day with a chilled glass of wine and a few light bites. Enjoy the olives and rustic bread as we did before dinner. A great place for lunch if you prefer, however we decided to make it our meeting point for pre dinner drinks. Good service and and focused wine menu made for a very pleasant evening.

We had a flight of red wines, some were really good. I won't get into the wine selection as I'm sure they have a little something for everyone. Nice selection of olive oils and balsamics for purchase. Wife had a salad that she's still talking about. Great food and friendly staff and a nice view of the water from the back patio.

I had a wonderful time at We Olive. Excellent Wine tasting and Great Cheese & Meat Platters. Highly recommended. Great view of the Sunset!! They also have great Olive Oil.

My friend and I stopped in for a glass of wine prior to a business dinner. The ambiance is delightful, and the wine selection is what you'd expect from a California Olive & Wine Bar... good, that is! Quite pleased with the choice.

Very friendly relaxed bar with really good wines. Loved our tasting and bought a couple bottles to go. Wish we had more time as they have a lot of wines available to try, very reasonably priced.

My husband and I stumbled upon this place wandering through La Jolla on our honeymoon after a bike tour. We had some LOVELY bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and the hummus plate with crackers/vegetables, paired with some really delicious tasters of wine. Sat outside in the sun looking at the sea...perfect way to spend a couple of hours, will definitely return! Friendly staff too!

After visiting Turkey last year, I was in seach for some similar olive oil. We Olive has so many different kinds of olive oil, there's one for everyone. You can try them all too. It's a bit pricey, but if you like good olive oil, it's worth it. They also carry different types of baslamic vinegar, they serve food, cheese and wine and have a great view of the ocean.

What a gem! My husband and I strolled in after shopping in La Jolla. Of course we sat on the small patio and enjoyed a cheese board; my husband had a glass of white and I had a tasting of four very different, delicious wines. Oiur waitress was very knowledgeable and the shop is cute!

fine wines and small plates and great views over the pacific from the veranda. Only remark was that they advertise happy hour but its not half price as usually bau 3 dollars of ( a wine that is 12-14 dollar) No reduction on food even though the waiter told us it would be.

At 1158 Prospect, La Jolla on the main drag this lil gem of a wine & beer bar. By accident we discovered it walking. The main entrance brings u into a store w/wonderful selection of olive Oil [along w/other goodies] At the back of the store & also inside there lies a wonderful lil bar with seating over looking LaJolla Cove. We've had almost everything on the menu fr their Sandwiches, flat breads, salads, dips all tastefully presented & more important delicious. Their portions are plenty for 1 person. Wonderful happy hour fr 3.30-6.30 Wine Wednesdays 1/2 off btl win. Certainly recommend for great wine, small bites, service, ambience & above all great prices. A MUST IF IN LA JOLLA CA

One of my favorite things to do wen we have visitors is to go to La Jolla and have some wine at We Olive. Our server maggie was courteous and sweet. Melissa was also very attentive and helpful. The Mimosa were soon good and the view, well it just doesn't get much better!

Thank goodness for Tripadvisor because we may not have stopped, thinking it was just another olive oil place but we couldn't have been more wrong! We went before noon and we had our choice of outdoor high table seating with a partial view of the ocean. Emily, our server, was absolutely perfect and knowledgeable about wine, cheese and olive oils. We really appreciated the extensive wine list with the detailed descriptions. The sparking wine was a sure hit. A person could order a glass, half glass or a few ounces. It is highly recommended to order a meat and cheese plate. The Camembert cheese which was comprised of cow, sheep and goat milk was absolutely unique and delectable. You must try the blackberry balsamic vinegar, simply that good. I would never have tried the fresh jalapeno olive oil and pineapple white balsamic vinegar mixed together but it was a fabulous blend. In the store area, I bought a beautiful wooden platter. Just go and feel yourself relax with a great view, wine, cheese and olive oil.

What a find this place was. Part store, part resturant with an amazing happy hour with DELICIOUS food. We ordered the hummas and cheese platter to go with some amazing glasses of wine. Staff was very helpful with suggestions and service was perfect. Get there early if you want to see the sun set as they have tables on the balcony but full up quickly. Also a great place to shop for super different kinds of olive oils

It's easy to miss this place. It's kinda tiny. You wouldn't expect.....but the wine, food and olive oil drinks were exceptional. The salads and finger foods. nice. After, take a quiet stroll along the beach front. Just a great place, great atmosphere here.

This is a delightful place in the heart of downtown La Jolla. We loved the flatbread with mozzarella, basil, tomato and lemon olive oil! Enjoyed wine tasting and knowledgeable chats with attentive and friendly staff. Going back later this month. Will buy that fabulous lemon olive oil for sure. Salads will love it!

Fabulous view. Wonderful food. Even better wine. We had the Dip Duo (hummus and Parmesan Asiago). Both great! Vegetable pizza and the side salad. Really enjoyed the side salad. So fresh and simple but rally good! Highly recommend!

Really wanted to enjoy as heard appetizers and wine was fabulous but children are not permitted to be on premise with their parents, even when coming to eat. Doesn't make good busy ness sense.

Visited as part of an impromptu birthday outing after visiting the nearby museum- while walking, noticed a sign that they were hosting a small winery tasting (Onyx) for $20. Best: The food was tasty and fresh- arugula salad, various cheese, olives etc. Also good: The wine was delicious, and since we arrived late, the server was generous in pouring the last of the bottles. We enjoyed the conversation with him about the vineyard, etc. Tricky: parking. We had arrived early for museum tour, but La Jolla fills quickly, esp in summer, so plan accordingly. Secret shortcut: you can park on the street below the shops (Coast Blvd.), and walk up the long stairs from the Cove, thru La Valencia hotel. Take a left when you reach the top, at the street (Prospect) and you are at We Olive. Best places to sit: on the deck, for a sliver of ocean and view of la Valencia bungalows. A nice glimpse of classic La Jolla.

Their cheese plate is great and a really good wine selection. You can bottle what you don't finish, though with the views in on the back quaint deck...you'll want to stay and relish the views overlooking the ocean. Staff and owner are super friendly...this was our 2nd visit. Highly recommend. Great gifts as well.

Stumbled upon We Olive when we had some time to kill before a dinner reservation at George's. Awesome wine list and the crostini app was delicious! Would highly recommend for a glass of wine or two with a beautiful view!

We are a group from Portugal, traveling across California. We got sick of hamburgers, pizza and bad seafood, and decided to give ‘We Olive’ a try. Thank goodness! Delicious bites to share, with tasteful olive oils and cheeses. The wine selection was well curated, and we even got 50% off because it was Wednesday! Highly recommended for someone looking for a nice Mediterranean meal, overlooking the ocean on a sunny day.

Select California wines, artisanal bread, nicely dressed salad and hummus on a small wooden deck overlooking the Pacific in La Jolla. Saw whales spouting! Service California laid back but who cares with good food, tasty wines and sunshine.

An unmatched variety of olive oils, a well selected choice of Californian wines and some delicious tapas to be experienced on a cozy balcony overlooking the Pacific

shared a bottle of wine with husband and (adult) daughters. We had some lovely charcuterie while overlooking the pacific. wine at happy hour prices, and their wonderful olive oils served with bread and meat on a cool, sunny saturday was such a treat. We all agreed it was one of the highlights of our vacation.

We enjoyed sitting outside and looking out at the ocean. The breeze was almost intoxicating! We just ordered wine with an order of bread & olive oil (which came with different oils) It was the perfect ending to day of dinning at George's for lunch, walking along the beach and checking out the seal and awesome shopping! Highly recommend this place!

We had lunch here a few days ago - idea came from Trip Advisor. This would be easy to miss because it looks like a store selling upscale cooking oils and other kitchen items. However, in the back is an excellent wine bar and bistro style restaurant. We sat outside overlooking the ocean. We split an arugula salad and a cheese flatbread - and each had a glass of wine from their nice wine list. They also brought out a fun tasting board with bread and four tasting cooking oils. It was an excellent stop in all respects. If you are in La Jolla for a few days, put this on your list. A one of a kind lunch experience!

stopped here after looking up other reviews on La Jolla restaurants. limited seating with a view. I went around 1 & got a great seat with ocean view. Great place if you like wine & cheese boards! loved the balsamic mustard & bought a jar to go! great service! if your a wine person it's a must! :)

I can't walk by this place w/out going in and about 1/4 of the time I end up buying one of their olive oils or vinegars. They're that good. I think that they still serve wine in the back of the shop as well...

We happened upon this place by accident-- just wandering around La Jolla and it looked interesting (love olive oil) -- then we realized they had some interesting food for lunch, then we wandered to the back and saw the little deck with the view. Loved the wine selection-- and the mimosa (with peach balsamic vinegar and a touch of basil olive oil--sounds odd but you have to try it!). The food was very well done, and the olives were perfect. Service was super friendly. The only regret was that we couldn't take any of the wines or olive oils with us. They will ship but we managed to find our way to the only (as of now) northeast franchise location (Brooklyn) to get a stock of olives, oils, tapenades etc. Enjoyed a mimosa today! Although the Brooklyn shop was good too, it was hard to beat that serendipitous combination of discovery, good food, friendly service and great view in La Jolla!

Great stop, great concept, we are regulars at the Paso Robles mother store, which doesn't have wine or food because every other store in downtown Paso Robles has that. First time visitor, great shop, do stop!

Looking for a quiet cool place hopefully with seas view where I could have a drink and a something light to eat. This is just right; not sure why it wasn't packed out (OK at 6PM maybe a bit early). Nice charcuterie plate, breeze funnelling through and small veranda. Only light snacks (it's a wine bar) but it does the job if you don't want to stuff yourself.

We enjoyed lunch with our grown kids on a recent trip on the small open patio in the back of the store. It was a great place to eat and view the ocean. The salads we ordered were wonderful; appetizers a little small. Fun spot for lunch and wine tasting.

We tried this place based on TA reviews and it was great. Wonderful, fairly quiet, tucked away gem in the heart of La Jolla. Grab one of the limited seats along the back patio with views of La Jolla beach and nice, shaded breezes. We tried the olive oil tasting and I believe we will be leaving with some delicious olive oil and balsamic vinegar - maybe Rosemary and fig or Lemon and Elderberry...hmmm. The BBQ flatbread was far from pedestrian (think peach balsamic pickled onions) and very delicious. The Olive Caesar salad was light, flavorful and refreshing - a light olive oil based dressing vs the standard heavy cream. We will be back! It was nice to escape the crowds of tourists and packed trendy restaurants in favor of a small, intimate local hangout.

Great place to try different olive tapenades & wine! Such a cute place with a great view & relaxing. Nice place to start if you get to the area early & want a bit to eat & drink.

This was one of the first places my husband and I stopped when we got into La Jolla. The staff was really friendly and we enjoyed a cheese and meat tray with our yummy bottle of wine! The view of the ocean from the back of this place is amazing! What a nice way to relax and begin our vacation!

We stopped in to check out the olive oil and noticed a tiny patio out back. We decided to stay for lunch. Food menu is limited but incredibly tasty (hummus!) but the wine menu is extensive. The view is great unless someone sits directly in front of you and blocks your view (yes it happened but fortunately at the end of our meal). Worth stopping.

Met my Spanish heritage girlfriend here for a pleasant lunch on the rear balcony overlooking La Jolla Cove. We had a olive oil & vinegar tasting before sharing a Burrata salad, flatbread and a crisp Spanish white wine while discussing upcoming trips to Spain. The balcony is cozy and about as close to European ambiance as one gets in La Jolla. Great find find on Prospect that merits a return on a nice day.

Had a bottle of wine and some tapas - a flatbread & a sandwich. Good view from the balcony/patio/porch, although a little obstructed from some seats (not ours). Wait staff was nice and food was quick.

We saw this store and had to stop and take a look. The staff was very nice and educated us on all the different olives and oils. We ended up buying a bunce if items... Well worth the stop!

This is the place to go in La Jolla for great wine, bottled beer and fabulous house-made apps. Get there early and you can sit on the outdoor deck and watch for that Green Flash and enjoy happy hour specials. The hummus with black olives and blood orange olive oil goes perfectly with your sunset and top-notch wine or beer selection. Super friendly service.

Great place for lunch with a glass of wine and a beautiful view! Great for sampling olive oil and nice selection of pastas and beautiful wood crafts!

We Olive is just 3 doors down from the La Valencia and is a Must See!!! Absolute comfort, welcoming, stunning views, and great food! Small plates! Exceptional flatbreads and more. And I love love the atmosphere! Perfection!!

I loved this place! The staff was fabulous but the wine and oil were out of this world good! We did a wine tasting and sampled many different wines along with a plate with olive oil and vinegars. All of it was fabulous. We even purchased bottles to take home. But let’s talk view people! There was not a better way to spend a lunch hour than hanging out on this deck. Perfect! Can’t wait to find another We Olive!

We Olive & Wine Bar should not be missed! We sampled Olive Oils and flavored Balsamic Vinegars, then sat outdoors and enjoyed Heirloom tomato Caprese salad, sandwiches and flatbread. All dishes are simple and beautiful. The wine list is all domestic wines, but the variety is excellent. On Saturday nights they sample Panini's with a variety of the mustards they sell. If you are in Downtown Cincinnati, this is a must stop.

The staff was helpful but a bit reserved. The staff didn't come forward to offer guidance or information regarding the products. After 20 minutes of exploring the store, we finally asked the staff for information. The store offers samples of almost everything and the samples lead us to buy a few items. The food stuffs are delicious but the prices are a bit high.

We went twice to this quaint and delightful wine bar. Rob and Ryan completely spoilt us with great service and excellent food and wine knowledge. The wine selection was superb and local, we had 3 wonderful California whites with great advice about what suited our mood and tastes. The food was delicious, best olives I have ever tasted with interesting flatbreads baked with fresh and inventive toppings. We sat on a small terrace overlooking the cove. Excellent experience

I stopped in thinking they only sold olive oil. What I discovered is a cozy wine bar in the back where one can sample all of the wines on the menu in 1.5 oz flights. They also have a small outside deck with a limited view of the ocean. It is perfect for having a glass of wine and a small plate. I had one of their flat breads.

We Olive is a great place to share a cheese plate and a glass of crisp, cold glass of Sav Blanc, Riesling, or Chardonnay, or any glass of wine for that matter. The staff is solitious and savvy about wines, olive oils, and vinegars. Not only did we have a great view of the Pacific and a delicious cheese plate that enhanced the wines, we also purchased olive oils and vinegars to send home. The shipping was minimal and the oils were reminiscent of the EVOO that we brought back from Tuscany. What a great afternoon that will live on when we return to our home in Ohio.

In downtown La Jolla, near the Starbucks on the main drag, is what appears to be an olive oil store. They need to Chang that a bit so that people can see that it is also a wine bar, and one with not only a fine and unusual selection of wines by the glass and bottle, but also damned good eats. Their small plates of charcuterie and cheese are excellent, and the stuffed little peppers they offer are not to be missed. This is an ideal spot for a light meal or afternoon refreshment. Nice people there, too. Highly recommend seeking this place out.

Walking by, saw their sign that said best kept secret for lunch. Wandered in-4 of us-had an amazing lunch with all the wonderful offerings from their store. Great Beer, Wine, Cheese, flat breads, terrific salad and lovely staff. A great little "secret" behind a wonderful gourmet food store, featuring olive oil. Actually returned and purchased!

This is a cute little olive oil and wine shop. We went here twice when visiting San Diego. They offer free tastings and a great selection of olive oils and gifts. We sipped beautiful wines with breads, meats, and cheeses looking at the ocean. Adam served us with his great personality helping me to pronounce the wines , and Jackie with her sweet smile enthusiastically helped us choose gifts to bring back home. Wonderful place! Bill & Maggie

After strolling the coastline, we visited the shops on Prospect and were very happy to find this wine/ olive bar. Great gift ideas for souveniers at home and superb wines with a knowledgeable and friendly staff. We actually bought a case of wine and had it shipped home! Also decided to order salads and paninis to eat on the back deck with a sneak peak of the ocean. The food was delicious.

We went for Happy Hour. The deck is incredibly small but has an amazing view. We sat and watched the water, had great wine and a good cheese board. The waitress was very sweet. We enjoyed the visit and will be back.

What a marvelous surprise! We Olive & Wine Bar is simply elegant and elegantly simple. Great food. Extensive and rich wine list. Awesome food. Wonderful friendly service.

We loved this place. Great atmosphere and people who work their are friendly and know their stuff. Wine was great and same with small plates. They gave us a sample of their balsamic and olive oils! I bought two bottles. Come early if u want the coveted out door space, it is small. But more room in the main seating.

We had lunch here and tried several wines but were surprised by bill, a rip off! Casual food was delicious, service nice and the terrace with a view (though there's hot air coming up from below!) but check prices twice before ordering.

Always like coming here after work for a happy hour glass of wine out on the patio. Great little view of the ocean. Quick and friendly service. Local wines, menu changes monthly. Great flatbread.

Found this place completely by accident then all the locals told us to go there. Great meat and cheese board. Fantastic selection of unusual wines. Great service.

My husband and I have visited We Olive on a number of occasions and have typically enjoyed the wine and ambiance. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENTS on our most recent visit. We ordered our wine and wanted to have an appetizer. Unfortunately we didn't know that our server was watching the clock. We ordered some hummus and waited 15 minutes -- nothing came when we asked our server, she said "I forgot to put your order in" no apology - just "do you still want it?" She then not only left our check but left her shift. When we shared our experience with other staff they looked at us as though we were crazy. How sad that people can simply say "sorry". Will rethink another visit - lots of other choices with better service.

We found this accidentally, and we loved it! We live to cook with Olive oil and love wine, so we had to check it out. We sampled everything and enjoyed a nice glass of wine with a gorgeous view. Small deck only seats a few people, but nice inside too. We come back here every time we visit!

I first visited We Olive when I needed to pick up a hostess gift... someone suggested We Olive and I thought that was a good idea. When I stopped by, I thought the hostess would be the luckiest person ever to receive a gift from there so I bought something for me and for family birthdays as well! Stop by We Olive and take a taste of olives, olive oil, and more. It's so wonderful to enjoy the simple combination of good bread and good olive oil. Simplicity and divine enjoyment for my taste buds!

Great little spot for happy hour and the sunset. Lovely wine selection and small pates for a lite bite. We tried the prosciutto wrapped dates which were divine. The store has a great selection of olives, olive oils, chutney and dips. The staff were so helpful explaining what everything was and generously providing samples. We took some great items to bring back for family and friends. Overall a really nice place and worth a visit.

You can treat this place like a museum or go and eat. I'll talk about the "restaurant" aspect. We didn't eat a full dinner but we did enjoy some wine and the great view. The restaurant looks down toward the La Jolla beach. It is very relaxing to just sit and view the ocean while sipping on some vino. Attended as part of Bite San Diego and can't wait to return.

Stopped in to taste some excellent olive oil as we meandered down Prospect Avenue and noticed a wine bar at the back with a view of the water. Decided to return one evening to enjoy a bottle of rose at happy hour. Felt like a local spot. Our waitress was awesome - she was very helpful with our wine selection and gave us a great recommendation for a restaurant for dinner. Will definitely come back!

We enjoyed sampling the variety of oils and balsamics. Afterwards we loved the samples of local wine & small plates. Each plate was freshly made with quality ingredients. All of this with an unobstructed view of the ocean. Will definitely return next time I visit La Jolla.

Popped in for an appetiser, the bbq chicken flatbread was fabulous but that is only the supporting act. The wine tasting was great and coupled with a fab view of the Pacific and friendly staff gets 5 stars from me.

I love this wine bar. Fantastic selection and the wines the staff recommends are always excellent. They have a great happy hour. This is a regular meeting spot for my friends and I!

My husband and I had a great lunch at George's on the Cove and decided to stroll the area for shopping. We happened upon the We Olive oils shop and discovered a cute place thats small, intimate, but has well educated wine experts and the buyers specialize in boutique wines with limited production. Rob was the beverage supervisor who was well versed and introduced us to some great wines and thoughts of foods to pair them with. The setting was also very good in that a small outdoor patio over looked the water. While you do have to "peer" through a row of beautiful townhomes to see the water, the setting is still very nice and good wine to boot. Although we had already eaten at George's which was great, a couple next to us ordered a cheese tray which looked divine. All in all, this was a nice unexpected find so I would recommend it to anyone who likes a quiet intimate little gem of a wine shop.

We stopped in with our teenage daughter, and despite the fact that we visit Napa regularly and have purchased olive oil online and in Napa, we were written off by the staff, as lookers vs buyers..too bad....

Looking for a place to sit, relax and have an appetizer, we saw the We Olive. Stopped because of the name....wine, olive and almond appetizer and a shared flatbread with artichokes and capers. Food was very good and sitting outside watching the ocean waves made it perfect. The wine was local and very tasty. Would have bought some to take back to Colorado but couldn’t put it in my carry-on. Will do an order on line. Would highly recommend...small kitchen with only about 8 tables with bench seating outside facing the water.

We brought our out of state family here for fun tastings & pretty beach views! Knowledgeable staff very helpful & patient with out of towners!

The owners have done a great job, and clearly put a lot of thought into the excellent wine choices - by the glass or bottle. Not the usual run of the mill selections here. Nice appetizers, a surprisingly good view of the cove, and ....not too noisy, for a change! An excellent place for a casual evening, a romantic tete-a-tete, or just an after work tasty glass from the well-chosen beer and wine list. Highly recommended if you're not feeling like a big meal.

Fantastic wine, olives, and breads.A must if you visit La Jolla.I would recommend the hard cider also from Julian
Phenomenal food amazing selection of wine
Came here during the winter of last year and ate and drank for a couple of hours and even came back the next day for another round!
