Nice lunch

By Janis |

With an older but comfortable environment, this restaurant seems to be a local favorite. We had an "excellent" Soup and Salad, great Fish and Chips with "extremely light batter", and Fried Clams. No complaints!

Just Like Granpa Used to Like

What can you say about a place that hasn't updated its look since it was built in what looks like the early 70's. This is not a bad thing. Wood paneling and brick. Old school booths and solid wooden chairs that have been burnished by years of use. All the things above add to the sense of nostalgia that the Wedgewood Broiler evokes. this is the kind of place that my grand parents would take us for special occasions and we would sit around drinking glasses of milk while the grown ups sucked down highballs and questionable wine. The menu is somewhat limited but it is what I expected steaks, a few burgers and a few "healthy" options. I had a NY Strip and it was slightly over cooked. The baked potato came out with just butter on it which I thought was weird. The veggies were quite frankly tired looking. My brother and I ordered beers and it tasted like the draft lines needed to be cleaned. The high point of the experience was the bread. A huge loaf of piping hot crusty goodness served with tub of whipped butter. Nice. The low point was the smell of acetone creeping through the wall from the nail salon next door. I would go back but I would sit in the lounge.

Consistently Good

I live in the area and eat here often. The place itself is a bit threadbare but their food is always fresh, usually way better than average. They grind their own beef and will cook hamburgers to order. They have high quality steaks and their cooks always prepare them exactly as ordered. On weekends they have Prime Rib, which is always good and their salads are always fresh. Their prices are fair also.

A flash from the past restaurant

By Alec D |

When you walk in the door you feel like you might have stepped into a time machine and you back in the 60's-70's with the decor. The food is good comfort food. The service is good as well.

Atmosphere!

If you like a good old supper club feel, this is it! Good food and great service! We had a waitress that had been working there a very long time. She was knowledgeable and very good at her job. Prices are decent.

Wedgwood Broiler

By christopherswaby |

i enjoyed my meal. i had a burger. it was better than average. i had a salad with it - again, better than the norm. the staff was very nice. the food took a little bit longer to get to me than i expected given the number of people in the restaurant at the time i ordered. the decor is definitely a throwback to the 70's (which i liked). the restaurant side was populated almost exclusively by those of us in the AARP set. there is a separate bar in which i saw a much younger crowd. its located in a little strip mall - i think one could miss it if one werent looking for it. i expect i will return at least once more

Hasn't changed a bit!

By SashaStorm |

When some older friends treated us to their favorite after church spot we weren't expecting to go to our old neighborhood. It was surprising to see that the Broiler was still there. We had eaten there once when we lived in Wedgwood in the early 80's. At the time it was over our price range. The prices aren't cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. The food is simple, American staples, but tastes better than the usual franchise fare. My husband got a huge omelet that came with an equally huge amount of hash browns. I ordered the Cheese, bacon and tomato sandwich. It was so big I could only finish half! Our friends ordered seafood dinners that came with baked potatoes. Be sure to ask for extra toppings. Next time I've got to try one! It was actually a nice change from our usual eclectic, exotic brunch choices. It is a little tired and worn and is definitely from another era. As an interracial couple we were treated like everyone else, even though the feel and décor are like going back in time. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of parking, another throwback to a bygone era!

A unique place

By Nancy D |

It's easy to enjoy eating here, with the looks of a 1960's restaurant, view of the open kitchen, and a menu full of comfort food. You just don't find restaurants like this these days. I had a mixup with the wait time for food and my order, but the wait staff was very apologetic and did everything they could to make up for it. My check was adjusted, and I was offered an extra side and free dessert. The food was good and I will definitely go back again. Note, there are menu price differences for lunch and dinner, and since they serve lunch until 4 p.m. you may want to for a late lunch/early dinner. The lounge area is popular for happy hour food specials from 4-6 and later in the evening.

Good "comfort food" sort of place

By bwanderer |

For those of us old enough, this is somewhat like a trip back to the 1970s in terms of decor and the restaurant experience, from the servers (older) to the seating (upholstery) to the type of food (comfort food) to the environment (darkened) to the amount of food (not too little, but no leftovers). The food is good, the service average, and it's a good neighborhood choice.

Wedgewood Time Machine

By Charles H |

The Wedgewood Broiler is a fantastic restaurant and an incredible value. It's like traveling back in time to the 60s because it's largely unchanged including the prices on the menu! I've eaten there hundreds of times and my family and friends love the place. The daily specials just can't be beat and other favorites are the London broil, chicken fried steak, french dip and lasagna. Enjoy!

LOVE THIS PLACE

The steaks are always yummy. I love this salad that comes with your meal. It is definitely affordable. I love the decor and the atmosphere. Always good service.

Can you say "Comfort Food"?

By 806traveller2 |

This restaurant has been an institution since I was a kid! Nothing fancy. Just decent food at a decent price. As it was near St. Paddy's Day, corned beef soup was on the menu. The person in our party who ordered it said it was good. That is a seasonal item so won't be around until next year. Two of us had the special beef stroganoff. It was good. The salad that came with was fresh and had salami and Cheez-Its! The waitress was very helpful and attentive without lurking annoyingly.

Not What It Once Was...

By E L |

I've been going to the WB for years, so it pains me to write this review. The quality of meat has always been a bit of crap shoot, but tough and gristle seems to be becoming the norm. Service has been taking a slide as well. The last time I was there (and it will be the last time) I sat without being acknowledged for 15 plus minutes while three staff took care of four small tables, two of the couples came in after I did. I didn't receive so much as an ice water. I had waited long enough and went somewhere else. On the way out I stopped to give the assistant manager a heads-up. He feigned remorse, but not very well. I won't be back.

The place for craft beers!

By BigJNK |

First, this is where the locals go! No tourists (although they could get in). It is not impressive on the outside. Second, look at the taps! Each one is at the temperature specified by the brew master. All local craft beers that change very frequently. Well curated collection. Food and service are just fine. Definitely a keeper!

Classic neighborhood bar.

By BMW123456 |

What a great place. Fantastic service and stiff drinks. Erin and Kathy are fantastic bartenders. Give it a try and you will be transported back to what neighborhood bars used to be... Where the bartenders knew your name and your drink.

An institution!

By Krisinseattle |

Went here for lunch today because my 89yr old Mother wanted liver and onions. ( No comment!) The service was friendly and the food quite tasty. You even get a few Cheese-its on your salad ( with homemade blue cheese dressing). Her liver and onions were perfectly prepared” and “tender enough to cut with a fork!” The bacon cheese burger and French dip sandwiches ( with nice hot horseradish sauce) predictable and delicious. With a cold beer on tap, how can you go wrong! Place has been there for a half a century and has a loyal following.

"FEEL GOOD FOOD" is exactly what the locals want and what visitors need!

By kctab |

I think I was about 10 years old, I think it was 1965. My Dad would sit me in a booth and visited the lounge when it was first called The Sir Wedgwood. The Wedgwood Broiler has a concept I like of buying different cut steaks, by the ounce, along with the accompaniments. I know the daily specials by heart but over the years the selection has expanded. Some days chicken or prime rib or pork roast but always consistently good. I think they make an excellent Cheeseburger. I like their home made style soups and the dinner salad has cheez it crackers instead of croutons. The bar is well stocked with liquor, locals and frequent visitors. There is a separate space for private groups/party and the bar is always busy during sporting events with a multitude of televisions. I'm spoiled because I watched this reputation maintain it's reputation and quality over 50 years and they have a 72 oz. steak free, if you eat it all, following their rules and giving 24 hour notice.

Good Comfort food in North Seattle

By Alec D |

Wedgwood Broiler has been around much longer than I have lived in Seattle and my guess is that they might outlast me. They seem to have a loyal clientele. The service is pleasant and the food is good. I like the tuna melt sandwich.

Good but not great.

By jpwiii1958 |

We had a large family dinner at the Wedgwood Broiler. Being a bigger party there was a varying order off the menu. The traditional beef and broiler items went well where the fish items lacked. We had London Broil to burgers to trout. The meat items were better and appeared to be fresh and cooked to perfection. The fish items ordered appeared to be out of the freezer and not so much. The staff was excellent. No one went thirsty waiting for the water or drink orders to be replenished.

A stop with the family

By Luv2beonvacation |

This review is only my opinion, but it is an honest opinion This was my first visit to this establishment and I was not very impressed. Service was mediocre, and the food was okay. Three out of four of us ordered steaks, all three medium-rare but one came out very rare, another was medium-well, the the last one was good. The last individual ordered fried scallops, and they came and were cooked okay but I wasn't impressed. Scallops were tiny and the breading was to hard. When biting into one it was full of juice and very little scallop. The vegetables that were one of the sides with the steaks, was soggy like they came from a can. The bread was yummy I do no know if I recommend this place, I might, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Coco and I must attend the mostest before he leaves.

This is a restaurant that Nick introduced us to. We are grateful!!! Friday, Sat. And Sunday Nights our favorite places for steaks. We will keep coming! Service and food are great!!!

A heartwarming meal

By Bodhisattva_75 |

I'm very passionate about food, which is quite cliché about Italians (and I perfectly fit the cliché by the way!) so as I travel I usually do extensive research concerning where and what to eat. I don't care very much about super trendy restaurants as I'm more interested to eat at hidden gems where the locals go. Long story short: even before leaving Italy to start our brand new journey in Seattle and Washington State we had decided we would have had at least a lunch or dinner at the Wedgwood Broiler. I chose their London Broil (medium rare cooking) while my boyfriend had a tasty Pan Fried Trout: everything was excellent and service was very attentive! To me old-fashioned restaurants are more than a place to have a meal at: they offer comfort food and share their story and good vibes. So just reward yourself with a time travel and have your lunch/dinner here: it will be a lovely, satisfying and heartwarming experience.

Classic throwback

By Lauralalali |

This was an awesome find! It was a class throwback feeling restaurant with really great food and great service. I had the French dip and it was two thumbs up, both my husband and son had steak and they loved them! We will be going back next time we are in the area, and don't forget to order the hot fudge sundae and one of their many classic cocktails they were exceptional 👍😃

Change in the meat used in Teriyaki steak?

By Mike |

I've been eating here as well as Blazes Broiler(when it was here) for many years. Last night I again had the Teriyaki steak as did a friend of mine that was with me. Normally it is a skirt steak. The Teriyaki steak we were served tonite was something different. Tough to cut, chewy, definitely not the normal teriyaki steak they have served for 40-plus years. Does anyone know if they switched their cut of meat used in the Teriyaki steak? Also they served us only one roll (which you have to request to receive), asked for a second and was told we would be charged extra. Asked for green beans for the veggies, and again, it'll cost ya, we're only giving those out as an appetizer. Never had either of those situations arise before. I guess that's the reality of Covid world. The staff was very pleasant as usual, but it looks like business as usual is not what it once was. Anyone else experiencing this??

Blast from the Past

By Margaret B |

We went here with my aunts (ages 93 and 85) because it is their favorite restaurant. Good old-fashioned comfort food with 1960's decor. If this is what you're in the mood for, this is your place.

Needs a real revamp

By Beth E |

Olde timey restaurant in wedgwood. Food is really pretty bad. I think folks come here mostly to drink, consequently. We ordered baked potatoes which had dried dusty chives (ouch), fake bacon bits (double ouch) and little sour cream. Not a respectful treatment of the noble baked tater. Salad also bad with the type of dressing which never separates, and served, oddly, with cheez-it crackers on top. Steak was middling only. Good parking, potentially great location. Needs a complete overhaul. I left feeling older and a little bit dusty.

Disappointing.

By mcglk |

It's been named as one of the best steak restaurants in Seattle, and certainly one of the three steaks that we ordered (a 6oz filet mignon) was deemed "perfect," but I think my New York Strip steak got replaced with a Newark Strip steak—about a third of it was gristle—and our guest's steak wasn't very good, either. Also, what's on the menu is not necessarily what you'll get as far as side vegetables. Our server was lovely, so there's that, but the steak is definitely a bit of a crapshoot. Side note: They accept reservations only for parties of 8 or more.

Good place but medium-high prices

By Paolo_sambiase |

A place with a not very welcoming location. Fast and kind service. Very good food, the meat was well cooked and very tender. Medium-high prices.

It's always 3am in 1964

By RedAhead |

This is my local joint. We're here at least once a week. So...where to start? The best advice is: suspend all expectations. The Broiler needs to be taken entirely on its own terms. It makes no effort to conform its menu, its decor, or its service to any competitors -- and that's because it simply has no competitors. It exists in a time and place all its own -- a time and place where it's always three in the morning in 1964. Over the dark, windowless rooms and the worn upholstery, you half expect to see LBJ on the bar TV, and hear the Beatles on the jukebox. And isn't that Don Draper in a dark corner booth, plying his latest girlfriend with the Broiler bar's great, cheap Manhattans? The dining room menu hasn't changed in the last 50 years, either (except, maybe, the prices). It's sturdy American meat-and-potates diner fare, delivered without apologies. (I'm irrationally fond of enchilada night; but they're serious about their pot roast and prime rib, too.) The servers have been here for years, and are known by the neighborhood. The place is so dated that it's gone around and come out again on the hip side. You wouldn't expect to find such a fun time capsule of a place stashed on a quiet street in a remote Seattle suburb. There aren't many reasons for anybody to trek out to Wedgwood for anything; but this and the Fiddler's tavern are two pretty decent ones.

Old school awesome

By ofeelia9 |

I love it here! It’s the kind of place my parents hung out in in the 70’s and it remains retro awesome. Strong, cheap drinks. You can’t go wrong!

Nice little place

By FSUfaninWA |

Visiting the area, looking for a reasonable steakhouse. Found it. Had the London Broil. Very tasty and prepared to perfection. The hollandaise sauce for the broccoli looked different but tasted ok. Had the mud pie for dessert. Could have thawed a little more. The wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Overall it was a nice dining experience and would go ther again if in the area.

Burgers

By Rocks_road |

My wife and our moms have been on a search for a great hamburger and we got a tip that the Wedgewood Broiler was a place we ought to try. I am pleased to report that they make very good burgers. They grind their own beef and grill it properly; they don't fry it. I had the bacon cheeseburger and it was properly stacked with lettuce, tomato, pickle and onion, mayo on the side. The bun is lightly buttered and heated. The burger is pretty thick, and very tasty. Others had a hamburger and a cheeseburger. The burger came with fries that were pretty good but not fresh cut. All in our party said I needed to rate the burgers high.

Party for the taste buds!

By teknodave |

My mouth waters every time I drive by the Wedgwood, and I need to go back again soon. Their burgers are beyond awesome. The meat is ground fresh every day, and whatever they add to the meat, every bite is a party for the taste buds. I have never eaten a more delicious burger anywhere in my travels.

Still great steaks.

By Phathead206 |

Good to be back in a seat. Still great steaks and great bar atmosphere. Service was good with no issues. The bar is always hoping at dinner time. Make reservation for sure if you want to sit in the dinning area.

A Family Favorite

By riversandcreeks |

Many things have changed over the two decades we have lived in Wedgwood but not the Wedgwood Broiler (well thankfully smoking no longer takes place in the lounge). We love being able to walk to this throwback to a former era. The burgers—“we grind our own beef”—and steak dinners are the highlight and you might as well go all in with a baked potato with all the toppings. Fresh-baked rolls with plenty of butter arrive quickly along with your favorite cocktail. They have a simple but satisfying kids menu that keeps the little ones happy and a bowl of rainbow sherbet or root beer float makes a popular finish. Seattle has so many great restaurants but sometimes you just want something simple. Tom Douglas this is not.

Little hidden treasure

By Sarah C |

Fast service, great steaks, large portions, excellent prices, friendly staff & patrons. Lots of blue haired patrons frequent this hidden treasure & it's because of the cheap prices & good food. It's not the most exciting place to dine, but it's a great bargain. 18oz filet minion meal for two (includes potato, salad, veggies & bread for two people) only $39. That's a great deal & the steak was excellent! The ambiance is somewhat of an old folks but who cares if you're going with friends or partner.

Really bad

By Wickedtrixy |

We went because my girlfriend wanted liver and onions. Literally that was the only good part of the night. She said the liver was good but the gravy left a lot to be desired. The menu is small and doesn't list everything that's in your meal. For example I ordered turkey and it came with gravy covering everything on the plate, it didn't say gravy anywhere on the menu. I had to send it back and the waitress was so rude about it. I got it without the gravy and it was completely unimpressive, weird stuffing and basically deli sandwich meat. Unseasoned mashed potatoes and vegetables. We also got an appetizer of chicken strips. Reallllllly burned and bad and there were only 4 for 8$!? I ordered a cocktail from the menu and got something completely different and when I mentioned it the waitress was again so rude. None of the 4 of us will be back. Not even for the liver.
