Great view, poor management

By johnhorn2015 |

Amazing views, but left to wait 20minutes for booked table as ‘running late’. Enjoyable until noisy kids allowed on terrace after 10pm at night (advertised as over 21 after 6pm). Asked to re-locate but staff not very accommodating. Real shame as amazing view.

Null !

By Julie B |

Unfriendly refusal to serve a drink to one of us because she took too long to choose. Forbidden to sit because no reservation.... beautiful view but that's it!

Rude management

By Jet64570662553 |

The location for this rooftop bar is great and as a visitor to NY we were looking forward to sitting down and savoring the views. But the Maître d' was the rudest person I have ever encountered. Her explanations could have been conveyed politely, but instead she was just rude and arrogant. Service was slow and we felt like were treated like second class citizens. I would advise people to go elsewhere.

Cool! It was worth the trip!

By Paolla |

Cool atmosphere, beautiful view of NY from a A different angle from the rest of the rooftops in the center. The food good. Always full, I made a reservation in advance via the website. Would go back again!

Fabulous View but Terrible Hostesess

By ShakWestVancouver_BC |

The view is exceptional, the food is good more of a tapas menu. The bartenders are very busy but good, the drinks are ok for the price of them. Our servers were all very pleasant and food came very quickly. The worst part of our experience was the 2 hostess girls that are not very helpful with your reservation. The wait for your reserved table is ridiculous and they only seem to sit the people that pay them. Since I was staying at the hotel I didn’t feel that I needed to bribe them to get seated for my reservation. I think they should go find another job that doesn’t include customer service. On every occasion we had to wait from 1 - 2 hrs, ridiculous.

Amazing view

By mesl27 |

Stayed at The William Vale for 3 days with customers. We went to Westlight each day, what a view and good drinks and service

Food with a view

By George C |

Our hotel concierge made us a reservation with a window seat for this bar after I read about the views. It didn’t fail to live up to expectations- the views are stunning but what really surprised me was how good the food was - my partner said the burger was one of the best he’d had. My curried cauliflower dip was sublime - we’ll be back in the summer to see if the views are as good in daylight was they were after dark

Great views, a bit pricey!

By K&M rates plates |

AMAZING views of the whole of the New York skyline. We came last afternoon around 5/6pm and were able to see the sunset over the city which was beautiful. The drinks/food are quite pricy, but I would say that’s the same for any rooftop bar. They have the restaurant area and then another terrace a floor higher which has astroturf and you can chill out on deck chairs/bean bags/on the grass etc. A MUST VISIT!

Excellent views of Manhattan together with great cocktails and bites

By iremdeyneli |

If you want to have great cocktails with friends overlooking the spectacular Manhattan skyline, Westlight is the place for you. The bar is located at the rooftop of the hotel therefore has a panoramic view of the city. Reservations are highly recommended if yo want to skip the waiting line. Also, it is better to pay a visit during sunset since you get to capture the golden sky followed by the city lights that sparkle like diamonds once the night has settled. Foodwise, I highly recommend the crispy chicken wings, tempura bass buns, beet hummus and herb fries.

couples drinks

By Nektar G |

pre dinner drinks with my wifey with very very stunning panoramic views of the city ... you get to sip your drink and gaze out on the NYC skyline

Gorgeous Views

By Linda D |

Just spectacular views of Manhattan and Brooklyn! Great food and drinks in a wonderful area of Brooklyn! Can get windy even with the glass walls, but who cares 😃 Not to be missed!

Amazing views

By Lauren G |

We reserved a table so that we could watch the sunset over Manhattan. We were given a table with a great view and enjoyed watching the sunset and popping outside to take photos over a bottle of wine. The staff were pleasant. We didn't order food.

Fantastic roof-top with great view of Manhattan!

By MEM3403 |

Spent a great Saturday afternoon taking in the cool vibe and wonderful views from the top of the William Vale Hotel at the Westlight restaurant and bar. Truly spectacular roof-top environment, with a very hip but relaxed feel. Small plates, excellent food! Try the potato skins (I won't give away the secrets, but well worth it). A little pricey, but on a sunny afternoon/evening it is really special. Kudos to our waitress Eby--great personality, very considerate, and really fun. Go a little early on Saturday (NLT 1230), as it will fill up fast in the early afternoon and the wait will be >1 hour. Definitely worth the effort, and extremely memorable. Even had a couple get engaged--the whole place erupted in applause!.

Inconsistent

By emikodon |

The first time we came here it was amazing. We had a rude waitress but then got moved to Erin’s section and she was amazing got chatting about Australia. She was the best waitress. So nice and accomodating. Now our second visit was so inconsistent the wait staff was not attentive at all and slow! The drinks didn’t come with any garnishes as they previously did... & one of the waitresses with long blue nails was picking her nail dirt off and touching her hair and ears lots... kind of gross

AMAZING SERVICE

By Jaayr_V5 |

Thanks to our server Stephen, our time at the Westlight was awesome! Definitely coming back! And the food was good especially the tuna burger!

Best view of the Manhattan skyline?

By JohanAde |

Best view of the Manhattan skyline? Can't say I've been to all the rooftop bars, but it must be hard to beat. Then the food, drinks and service were very good too, which made the evening perfect. Can be highly recommended.

fantastic bar

By mikenz2015 |

Visited here to celebrate my Son's engagement. What a beautiful location to view the Manhattan skyline. The staff treated us all to a dessert on the house to celebrate as well. We were lucky enough to see a blizzard approach over the city towards us which was an awesome experience. Luckily only lasted 30 mins. Really enjoyed visiting this bar and will return one day.

Great location

By Keziah J |

The team at Westlight when making a reservation from the U.K. Everyone we met was lovely except our waiter who was quite rude and surly. The food was great and I had the king salmon miso soup (waiter: you do know that’s soup, yeh?) and the salmon was large and well cooked. Kindly moved us inside when the heat got a little too much for our teen. Probably worth it for the view.

Great View

By mb2242014 |

The bar/restaurant are standard NYC food/drinks, nothing spectacular but all very pleasant within the normal range. The view however of the manhattan skyline is the best I've ever seen and makes it well worth a visit.

Exceptional Views of Manhattan Skyline

By Peter L |

The is probably the absolute best spot for viewing Manhattan's skyline in the evening. With that said- realize you're going to pay for the view. Food and drinks are certainly adequate, but certainly priced higher than the quality and service should dictate. By all means- go once for the views, but I don't think you would need/want to return.

Bad treatment by JUAN Miguel

By Javier P |

We have a great time having dinner and drinks, until we wanted to take a picture in the balcony and Juan Miguel came out with a racist behavior and most rude way he would not allow us to take a picture.

Below par service for an upscale rooftop bar! Avoid unless you like being humiliated!!

By Knm R |

My wife and I went out to celebrate and each had one drink while enjoying some snacks. After finishing, we stepped outside to the outdoor area for about 5–7 minutes. When we returned, we were surprised to find that our table had been completely cleared, and a security guard was standing nearby. As we approached, he curtly said, "Please move," in a manner that made us feel as though we were being treated like panhadlers. We found our server and asked for the check, as we had no choice but to close out. Once again, the security guard rudely told us, "Please move away from the table, someone else is coming." I informed him that we had been sitting at that table, but he responded with, "I understand, but you need to move," which made little sense. Additionally, the restaurant states that each reservation has a 90-minute limit. Our reservation was at 6:30 PM, and we were essentially forced out by 7:05 PM—well before the allotted time. It was a truly appalling experience.

Stunning views, great food, superb service and a buzzing ambience.

By Abu |

Westlight has it all. The views make for the best dining experience in New York. The food is very good and very reasonably priced in addition. Very pleasant, attentive and friendly service. I dined there on three occasions it is so good. Special thanks to Barry, Micah and colleagues for their help and support on one occasion when I was unwell. Perched, as it is, on top of the equally superb William Vale hotel makes for a marriage made in heaven. Unsurpassable.

Spectacular view

By Janice D |

We visited the restaurant for the views and enjoyed a number of delicious sharing plates. The beet hummus, the guacamole, the ‘fried filthy green olives” and the charred eggplant dumplings were each beautifully presented and very tasty. The drinks were also good! As we went for the view - I should say that it is a breathtaking view of NYC and Brooklyn.. we were lucky to have a warm and sunny fall Friday afternoon to sit outside - but the views are good from inside as well for winter enjoyment!

Bad Service - Bad Management- Avoid

By Monica Luque |

This has been my worst dinner out ever in Brooklyn. It’s sad to experience such poor service in a rooftop with a beautiful view.

Excellent

By Micheal N |

Good drink , good good and good view ! What else do you need ? Service was really good en gast! A recommandé

Great experience

By norphano |

Amazing view on the rooftop in a high end setting, but be prepared to pay for it. Our food and drinks were all very good and did not mind paying for the outstanding view. Would definitely recommend for a great experience.

DEALING WITH FAKE MONEY

By Martina S |

Guys, KEEP AWAY!! They are ripping you off by changing FAKE MONEY! We just got a fake 50 $ this week and our claim just got ignored with the only comment: we don’t take cash! You must ne wrong! Please watch out, place is not faithful but is making use of the tourism traffic to rip off! They don’t even have a working phone line! Now I know why…

Spectacular views and great selection of drinks

By Bettylafea67 |

My friends and I went here for a girls night out. We arrived at 11 PM and ordered several dishes. I ordered the burger and it was very delicious. Others ordered the ribs, the French fries and the shrimp dumplings to name a few. Portions were about tapas size. The drinks were delicious. I recommend the chai colada. Pretty much everything on the menu was a little pricey, but this is Williamsburg we're talking about. The views more than made up for the prices. Unfortunately, we were there on a cold and windy night so taking pictures outside was quite unpleasant. I would definitely return during the summer months. I recommend making a reservation, especially for large groups.

Unimpressed overall

By Allie G |

I am a 5’5 average woman and when I sat on the sofa-style chairs at the very low table, my knees hit the table. Salmon for dinner was “good” but a very small serving with very, very small amounts of accompaniments. Service was inattentive. Gorgeous view.

What a view!

By orestcrete |

Spending a Friday evening in Westlight bar is the best choice I could think during my stay in New York. Reasonable prices in appetizers and drinks and excellent varieties in cocktails and drinks :)

Best place for cocktails at Sunset

By Lost in Paradise |

Finally the good people of NY have caught on to the fact that the best views of New York are from Brooklyn where Liberty is visible too. The cocktails are excellent and unique. The food is delicious. Be prepared to open your wallet, but they’re not rude if you’re only in for drinks and nibbles.

Racist management

By shanta m |

Racist female manager. Steer clear of this place. It’s not worth the time or effort getting to this place. Racist, rude, no thank you!

Beautiful View and Ambience

By SasPDX |

I was surprisingly alone in Brooklyn for 2 days and staying at the William Vale decided to give the Westlight a try. There definitely seems to be a wait at all times. But you do have the option of spending time finding a drink and chilling at the bar before you are seated. When I went it had rained and no one was in the terrace, which gave me and a few others a fabulous opportunity to see the Manhattan skyline in cold crisp weather. Not much available by way of vegetarian food but the French Fries I had ordered was excellent. Definitely worth a visit for ambience, forgettable cocktails and small eats, with a fabulous view.

10/10 views. 1/10 vibes.

By Jem B |

This spot is great if you want to feel humiliated, x2 lemonades and 1 Diet Coke was $40 and were mostly ice. To make matters worse we had to sit on the floor. Slow service, stingy drinks and disgusting bathrooms covered in urine. Poorly designed male bathrooms meant we could see the urinals in use whilst waiting in our never ending queue of drunkards. Once inside, 4 of 6 toilets were locked by the staff and the remaining 2 were destroyed. The only saving grace was the insane views & meeting some sweet girls in the queue who gave us recommendations for superior alternatives to visit… incase you need the list here it is: Jimmy rooftop Over story - cool bar City vineyard Walk around west village - bar hop round Hudson or Greenwich street Chelsea has cute spots RH rooftop Packing high line - jungle bird in Chelsea - Shy shy bar - Bar banobo 10/10 not returning!

Great dinner at sunset

By OC345 |

Stunning views of Manhattan and Williamsburg - you can absolutely see the difference in skylines. Great food, great roof top setting, amazing sunset (best time to go) and tasty food - highly recommend the ribs. We really really enjoyed this place. Can get busy at sunset so reservation is highly recommended! Awesome service. Good cocktails. A great and memorable NY experience away from downtown!

Brilliant sunset spot in NYC

By sportingfruit |

Tasked with finding a drinking spot for sunset, I was recommended Westlight - and it didn’t disappoint. Amazing views across Manhattan and great vibe

Great views, wonderful service

By thebettyramos1 |

We grabbed bites and drinks 3 times here, during our visit to Broooklyn and it was great everytime. The views were fantastic and the service was the absolute best. A wonderful experience, with great atmosphere for couples or a group of friends. The only draw back was a limited drink menu. Despite the fact thay had a nice, full bar we were told they could not make certain drinks, which was surprising. Other than that, I highly recommend the Westlight.

Westlight

By debrasJ4176IB |

We visited Westlight during our stay in New York. It was a excellent evening. Good views, great food and drink.

Just wow

By lil_cathy |

Wonderful service, delicious food, great cocktails but the view is out of this world. Yes, it is pricey but for a treat it is absolutely worth it. I can't imagine there are many bars with a view this good...

Sweeping views of NYC

By Travel with Lauuuuu |

Gorgeous rooftop, chic vibes. Located in trendy Brooklyn this rooftop is perfect after a day of exploring. We ordered the delicious tequila freezies and had some guacamole to nibble on.

Cocktails up in the W'burg Sky (with prices to match).

By dieswaytoofast |

So yeah, this is where you go to See And Be Seen. It's so cool, it's almost painful, and prices for the drinks make sure that it actually *is* painful, in case you had any doubts. The upside is that you're way up there, and the view of the NYC skyline is actually pretty cool. Go if you must. OTOH, if you've already been here, you probably already know that you don't need to come back...

Stunning views; rude security and expensive!

By CarlCymru |

This is surely one of the best views of Manhattan from Brooklyn - absolutely stunning. However, it is frightfully expensive for drinks (in addition to the absurd 18-22% that the US think is reasonable for tips) and the security/reception staff downstairs are utterly rude. We had a burger each and fries between us as well as a mediocre bottle of wine (which would cost around $10 in a supermarket). The total bill including tip was $169.04 which I just think is really bad value for money. The overall experience was okay and the views really made the evening, but my advice would be: pop there for sunset, grab a beer and then leave - much nicer places around Brooklyn to dine/spend your time.

Amazing view over Manhattan

By Fanny S |

Very nice small dishes and drinks. Nice interior! Amazing view over Manhattan! Sure it was expensive but if I ever visit Brooklyn again I will definitely return!

Wonderful Place

By Carlos Rech |

Perfection is the word to describe this place. Attentive and dedicated personnel from the beginning till the end. Unforgettable views and a pleasant atmosphere. A place to return, always!!!

Obvious popular night spot

By fastidious-one |

Lots of millennials, Noisy and crowded on weekends. $20 drinks, so a double with tip runs $50. Would be an expensive date. But great view of the city.

Best view from the terrace!

By noranora121moens |

This place has amazing drinks, great atmosphere, tasty small bites and also a great, professional service! I highly recommend it!

What a view!!

By Daniel G |

First night in New York and we had dinner at this venue. The cocktails were quite nice and the food was delicious - very nice mix of flavors. We went on the balcony to enjoy the view afterwards - impressive!!

Just for the View #2

By Maria Apostolos |

I fully agree with the previous review. The view is outstanding and if you are nearby the area, it is worth to visit it. But, be prepared for a very loooong queue, very slow service and in general an unpleasant experience except for the view of course!

Rooftop with a view of Manhattan

By Luc M |

In Brooklyn, a rooftop restaurant with industrial decoration with a superb view of all of Manhattan. Very New York atmosphere.

Could be better

By Paola B |

We stayed in the William Vale is a amazing hotel, great views, nice staff clean room specially in the time of the pandemia We decided to go on a Monday night to enjoy this famous roof westlight the view is AWESOME but our server CHRISTIAN made us have an uncomfortable moment he was so rude he was trying to be funny but he didn’t, I asked for a bottle of champagne rose and the first thing he told me was about the price like we can’t pay for that it’s very disrespectful, even we saw the price on the menu I think is very mean you tell the customer: “ oh but the price of the bottle is high” I was like WHAT I don’t ask for price first thing, second thing I ask if he can pour my champagne in the glass he told me he can’t so I have to do it by Myself and it’s very weird bc I travel a lot and I visit a lot places and restaurants and they usually have to serve the champagne well thanks god he went a brea. And a new server came to us her name was PAOLA she was very very nice and helpful she made our night work out thanks Paola if you read that and to end the rude guy came after his break and we ask if we can move tomo the table bc was very windy in the area we was sitting before and he found one table with the same windy and he told us “ what you want you want a good table or you want a warm area take this table and that’s it” we was in shock we order food and we change the mind to take the food to go bc we was very uncomfortable with his answer and we gave a good tips to Paola bc she deserve that and I think they need to training the staff properly bc we spend a lot money in this hotel for have a good time and we didn’t feel in this roof bc CHRISTIAN was very rude with us...

Lovely lunch with stunning views

By r0siel0we |

My partner and I made a special trip over to Westlight for lunch during our stay in New York. We were blown away by the view of Manhattan when we arrived just stunning and the restaurant is tastefully decorated and very luxurious. We ordered the tortilla chips with guacamole, the chicken empanadas and the burrata cheese with sourdough to share we also had a glass of wine and a beer each and this all came to $120 with tip. Not cheap but all the food was delicious so we didn't mind paying. The reason we have not given 5 stars is that at the end of our visit we found the staff member serving us to be quite short and rude. We had moved from our table inside with the intention of ordering another drink outside but something came up and we had to leave. We went inside to pay the bill and were met with a grumpy attitude and asked why we hadn't approached the server from outside (we hadn't even met the server outside). This was strange as she had been very polite and helpful the whole rest of our time at Westlight. All in all we would definitely visit Westlight again and would recommend it for a special lunch.

The Turf Club

By Blonderaisa |

It is free entry to the roof top bar overlooking the manhattan skyline. Drinks are priced accordingly but not overly expensive for the location and view. It is really relaxed atmosphere with great music.

Amazing!

By Sophie S |

Went there for lunch. The staff was amazing and very friendly! And the food was delicious:) we ordered tacos and shared some chips and guacamole. Also the place looks so nice! Would definitely come here again.

Very beautiful top of the hotel

By Yvany S |

Wonderful service, beautiful bar, great wine and the view of Manhattan day r night is a must. take a photo.

Only for the views

By Mbykova |

Ambiance is nice. Views of the city is amazing. Food is really bad… like don’t order food just have a cocktail bc cocktails are ok. Beer is warm… overall come just for a view and a cocktail

Gorgeous views and great experience

By Allie J |

Went here for drinks with my husband and had such a fun time! The view was incredible, we will definitely be coming back!

A real experience

By Charles R |

Even though it was a rainy night with manhattan skyline drifting in an out of view- What and atmospheric experience. The effect was pretty cinematic - and then the food arrived! Great Tapas, every dish was great. Hardest part was not overordering - We didnt succeed. Thanks for a great night in the compant of your hip and friendly staff.

Wow, wow, wow

By TracyCollard |

What an amazing bar on top of the William Vale hotel, the drinks are great but the view is to die for, you can see across to Manhattan and when it’s all lit up at night it is breathtaking!

Amazing view of Manhattan, Terrific Vibe and Great Drink Menu

By David S |

What a find! This bar is at the top of the William Vale hotel. We met friends for drinks on a early Saturday afternoon, and were not disappointed. Absolutely amazing in every way, especially if the weather is good. Unmatched views of the Manhattan skyline. Make sure to book a table in advance as it gets quite busy.

Stunning views of Manhattan

By Foodie578 |

What a lovely lovely place. This is a double height rooftop bar, where the seating outside and inside needs to be booked for food/ drinks. There are areas available for non-booked individuals to stand outside and drink. Great choice of drinks available, wine list was extensive. Best part of this place is the views back to manhattan, if it’s a sunny day, head over for the ‘golden hour’ to get some magnificent views!

Gorgeous view

By Esther S |

I was pleasantly surprised with the octopus. The meal was good and the mojitos were great lol. But the best part by far was the view!!!

Terrible service and management

By Gabriele B |

Just terrible service and management team. We arrived, waited in line for 30 mins, then where we were about to go up they told us to wait for an undefined period of time - 20/30 mins , they don’t know, as they were full upstairs - not really...

Great Views Pretty Poor Overpriced Food

By RedJuly50 |

We made a reservation for snacks & drinks and when we arrived the restaurant was empty. The day had started very foggy and we had thought that our view would be very restricted but as the morning wore on the fog lifted and by the time of our reservation at 14.30 was clear. The views are fantastic. The food unfortunately is far from fantastic and the mustard coloured bench seating is starting to look shabby. We ordered drinks and a selection of snacks - ribs, herb fries, duck dumplings, empanadas, cauliflower dip. Unfortunately the empanadas were very dry & clagy. The duck dumplings were just awful in texture and taste. The ribs were good as were the herb fries, however the herb fries cost $9.00!! I though all of the food was very overpriced and most of it of poor quality & taste. I would not recommend ordering food. Stick with drinks. I was unlucky enough to have a dirty napkin too which was rather off putting from the get go really. For an establishment that was supposed to wow me, it did not.

Great in the evening

By Jean-Philippe M |

Evening dinner, mind-blowing views of all Manhattan lit up from Brooklynn. Good meal and spacious roof top at the top accessible to all without resa to have a drink and selfis. Unforgettable. Attention, very complicated parking at this place very popular with hypsters. Same day stay with choice in (very noisy) or out

Amazing views, amazing staff!

By sarah c |

This is a must-visit when you visit New York. I came on an early evening with my husband to celebrate our honeymoon. We were given complimentary glasses of bubbly and seats looking right out onto the amazing view. The cocktails were absolutely delicious and we had so much fun! Would absolutely recommend to anyone!

Unbeatable Views and Trendy Vibes: Westlight Restaurant & Bar, Manhattan

By Defne Ertuna |

The views at Westlight are truly spectacular. From the rooftop, you get an unobstructed panorama of Manhattan, including the Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Brooklyn Bridge. The view of the city lights at night is absolutely stunning, making it the perfect spot for a sunset cocktail or a relaxed evening drink while taking in the skyline. The outdoor terrace seating is spacious, with cozy corners that make it ideal for both intimate gatherings or larger groups. Westlight offers a great selection of creative cocktails and a carefully curated menu of small plates. I tried the Grilled Octopus, which was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, paired with a refreshing Cucumber Gin Fizz. For a lighter bite, the Tuna Tartare was fresh and delicious, with the perfect balance of flavors. The drink menu is equally impressive, featuring a range of classic cocktails and inventive mixes that perfectly complement the laid-back yet stylish atmosphere.

Views of Manhattan!

By Matt |

We made a reservation to be able to have food and watch the sunset over Manhattan and we was not dissapointed the views are amazing. We visited on a sunday night and the place was still very busy so would recommend booking in advance. The dress code is relaxed this may differ on friday/saturday nights. After it has gone dark this is a nice place to have a few cocktails sit back and admire the view.

Disappointing experience

By Sam J |

We arrived 18 minutes late for our reservation because the subway was delayed, and the desk lady said we couldn’t have our table because we were too late. While I recognise the need to have a time limit, not all the tables were occupied and so it should have been possible to give us a seat for one drink (we weren’t planning to stay all night). We had a drink at the bar which was ok but nothing special. We sat down briefly at a empty table but we’re told to move because it was reserved, although no one actually turned up. Perhaps they were late too! It does have a good view from outside so in summer this place would be good. In winter unless you get one of the few tables with a view, you are better off going to Brooklyn Brewery taproom round the corner where the staff we much friendlier, the drinks were much nicer, and the prices less lofty.

One of the best rooftop bars anywhere

By Brad M |

One of the best rooftop bars anywhere. Entire indoor and outdoor space showcases the views. We hit it for early evening cocktails before sunset and dinner and it was spectacular.

Exceptional - frequent NY diners but this was a great experience

By Michael W |

Travelling from Scotland we are frequent diners in New York, in particular rooftop restaurants, Westlight is exceptional. We were running slightly late, emailed ahead to let them know, communication was first class, Dani assured us everything would be taken care of and not to worry. The views from the restaurant are exceptional, we sat on the outdoor terrace, the sunset and skyline was unbelievable, got better and better the more the night went on. Our server Juan was so attentive, patient, nothing was too much trouble whilst also monitoring the table discreetly to check on your drinks and food. This level of service was reflected by all staff actually, such a friendly, welcoming and hospitable team. Up there with the best service revenue in New York, would highly recommend to anyone thinking of booking here.

Awesome

By InesandDaniel1969 |

Views from this rooftop are incomparable. It does live up to its hype. But you can also have a very good dinner (bites and tapas), good service and very good bar and cocktails for a memorable sundown. Do not come without a booking.

Amazing atmosphere

By Alexa Baez |

Stephen was the best server ever! He was so nice and funny. I’ll definitely be coming back! He made sure everyone was happy and always cared about his customers. If you happen to go, ask for him!!

Poor experiencr

By Laura |

They run the bill before I had a chance to review it because they asked to keep a card on tab. Charged $16 for an iced coffee and $26 for a margarita! More than their "specialty" cocktails. Very poorly run. I am debating on disputing my charges.

Four only for the view

By Luke M |

The view from West light Brooklyn is second to none. Book a table outside and soak in the entire Manhattan skyline. Sparkling Rose was our parties drink of choice. Light and crisp on a very hot Summer’s day. Despite the beautiful venue, staffing seemed a little stretched. Our waiter (who was lovely, happy and gracious) was covering an entire large area on their own. Management should better plan how accommodate large volumes of guests at popular times such as a sun drenched Sunday.

Incorrect information given when booking - rude hostess made this worse

By Anna A |

The view is amazing and the cocktails are great. However, this place does not deserve to be patronized in any way due to the incompetence and rudeness of some of the staff. I booked a table in an enclosed terrace over a month ago. "Enclosed" was key here as the rooftoop is quite high and I knew it could be windy. When we showed up we were given a table in a fully exposed terrace, super windy and cold. When I first complained to one of the hostesses she said I had booked the terrace and she did not have other tables (notice that there was an area of the terrace which was effectively enclosed and we were not offered a table there). After a few minutes of being under strong wind and quite cold I checked my reservation again and I saw I had in fact reserved an enclosed terrace. I went back to the main hostess who said very rudely that they had opened the terrace because it was good season and that either we stayed outside or that was it. Problem is, this is not what I booked and I was never notified in the month between my reservation and the day of it that the seating situation would be any different. In the end, after our waiter (the only one to be polite and understanding, maybe because he was stuck outside wearing a wind proof winter jacket) we had to forego the table I had booked 1 month in advance because it was way too cold and went to the standing bar inside. No solutions were provided by the main hostess, no apologies for ruining a reservation that I had specified was for a special occasion when I made the booking. Very disappointed by this experience, I strongly advise anyone planning a special occasion to book in a more professional venue.

PLEASANT EXPERIENCE

By Guy M |

Made a reservation for 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon. We're promptly seated. Outstanding views. Service was efficient. Interesting drink menu and choice of wine and spirits. A little on the pricey side. The crowd was mostly Millennial Hipsters. Pleasant experience

Amazing rooftop views.

By InkTraveller |

The rooftop bar is atop the William Vale hotel. Go for sunset cocktails with incredible views back over Manhattan.

Westlight

By Ashlye E |

The venue is so chill and pretty. Stephen (our waiter) was amazing ! He was very attentive and friendly. The food and drinks are really good, my friends and I would definitely come back.

Incredibly disappointing

By Carly T |

Service was terrible. My friend ordered a drink and 20 mins later they came by to tell him they were out of that drink. So in place of that drink which was a cocktail, the server brought him a glass of rose and a warm pint of beer. Both were leftover or found on a table somewhere. It was so strange. He should have just offered to bring my friend a different cocktail of his choice. We also ordered the potato sliders that were 22 dollars. There was barely a whole potato in this dish. It was so small. You could not call this an appetizer. We had a dinner reservation after but we were late for it because it took over 20 mins to get our credit cards back after paying. We were asking multiple times for our cards and finally our server told us a different server was handling it so she did not take any responsibility. In total we were served by three different people. View is amazing but not worth the bad service and over priced food.

Stunning view!

Amazing atmosphere and drinks! I highly recommend this place to chiil in the upper terrace or grab drinks in the restaurant.

Rudest place in New York

By anyhow |

Never experienced such rude staff in my life, lots of empty tables and not allowed to sit on them as the hostess hadn’t approved, the hostess tried to claim they were reserved but empty for over an hr, the way staff told us to move was incredibly rude despite staying in the hotel

LOVE WESTLIGHT!!!

By Susan Renee |

Booked this gem to head to on our first day of our honeymoon in Brooklyn & were absolutely delighted with how amazing everything was! The vibe, the decor, the VIEWS, the cocktails delish & the food sooooo good! We didn’t want to leave! We will be back!!!! (Get the crispy rice & the rhubarb burrata! YUM!)

Great view

By 551sophie |

Amazing view, beautiful food and great drinks. Definitely recommend booking in advance especially if you want to go at a busy time such as the weekend. Quite expensive but the view and quality of food is worth it!

Wonderful views and service

By Sandra |

Not so big choice of food but you can take some tapas and drinks and that's fine while enjoying the beautiful views of the night Brooklin. the waitress was kind and helpful. We enjoyed the rooftop with different games, there's also a bar you can take some drinks too, down is a restaurant indoor and outdoor Nice place, must go for sure

Awesome views!

By Catherine S |

Buzzy buzzy bar with friendly staff. Snacks spicy street food. Recommend the coconut cashews! Apart from the views, great place for people watching!

Disappointing local experience overrated

By sara o |

Local with a very nice view too bad that our reservation outside was replaced inside a few hours before our arrival due to wind. The terrace above was closed, no show or live music was present and the view was almost non-existent from our table. There is no smoking area despite being on a terrace and when I asked the waitress where to smoke she answered me outside the room (I was on a terrace on the 21st floor so not very comfortable for me to leave the room and go back to sit at the table!) The waitress asked for our credit card before ordering to check the availability of our account and at the time of payment we were charged two transactions. We wrote to the local and apparently their policy is to withhold the money and then return it within 7/10 days. Poor and disappointing experience because in addition to there being no entertainment the view is the same as many other places in NY and Brooklyn where the staff and service is much better and less combed!

High life over Brooklyn

Excellent rooftopbar in Williamsburg, stylish with great views over New York Manhattan/Brooklyn. Be sure to book a table in advance, order a bottle of wine and some bites and enjoy. Not cheap but who cares, it’s a great experience!

4th July Party - No Seats, Long Queues and Partially Obscured Fireworks

By Nicki McKenzie |

Booked this 4th July 2019 party in advance through Eventbrite. Now in fairness, it was organised by a group called ‘Babel’ but hosted/held at the Westlight. Stunning rooftop bar, great Brooklyn location with a quality view of Midtown Manhattan. We booked the 5pm entry expecting this to provide ample opportunities to get a good spot for the afternoon/evening - we quickly discovered there were two levels of dance-floors with the only seating being one couch and a random table an older patron had decided to use as a makeshift seat. Even hardcore dancers need to sit down at some point, right? Arrival at 5 pm is great but how can anyone be expected to stand in New York summer heat for 3/4 hours waiting for fireworks and possibly longer if staying until later in the evening. There weren’t even so much as bar stools available. This seems like a decision taken to cram as many people in and sell as many tickets as possible. The line for the main bar was pretty long and tedious and given this, the prices and the heat and lack of any seating (apart from outside seating which was pre-booked by other patrons), we decided to go to ‘Brooklyn Billiards’ to see if the party would improve and to get a much needed seat and affordable pint. We returned three hours later, there was still a fairly empty downstairs dance floor and everyone else had crammed into the AstroTurf area upstairs - bar lines still pretty busy despite the abundance of staff. We got some complimentary food - a burger and some waffle-fries which again didn’t really live up to the price of admission let alone the costs of alcohol on the evening. When the time came for fireworks, the DJ played a rock cover of ‘The Stars and Stripes’ about 15 minutes too early and the fireworks were indeed visible but mainly tucked behind an apartment complex downriver. Overall friendly staff and stunning location but I am afraid it failed to deliver a quality evening of fireworks and 4th July celebrations as advertised and really not worth half of what was paid.

Must do when you visit New York

By Ellis V |

Wow! The view was magnificient! We arrived just before sunset, so we enjoyed the sight while sunny, during sunset and at night. It was magical and literally one of our highlights of our trip. Bites and wines are good, and quite affordable compared with other restaurants with much less of a view. So....go there when visit New York!

This one has it all.

By easytraveler52 |

Tip: call ahead to reserve. You jump to front of line. Once up there you see in all directions, the cocktails are unique, there is seating, or you can stand and look all around. Staff are friendly, if you are. Lovely space, lounge style.

Beautiful views

Westlight was amazing The views was amazing Food and drinks was great The staff was very good and helpful Loved every min of it

10/10 would recommend!

By Navigate37477596658 |

Stayed at William Vale hotel and dropped by Westlight for a couple drinks and light snacks Saturday night. I tried to get a last minute reservations but it was just too busy. Fortunately, I met the manager Christina at the host stand who was so sweet and got us a table for just an hour but then came over and let us keep the table for the rest of the night! Cocktails were so good and the food was light and refreshing! Cant wait to return for the views and outdoor dining this summer! Speaking of views... did I mention this venue is so stunning I even recommended it to a friend planning an engagement soon! Christina is the best but pro-tip definitely try to get a reservation in advance if possible accommodations aren't always possible especially if you have a group of 7 or more like we did!

Come here to see all of Brooklyn and the Manhattan Skyline!

By Briana K |

What a classy, fun rooftop bar and restaurant this is! The small bites were great. Try to get a table outside; it is worth it. It is a bit costly, but you will not regret going!

Great food and views of the NYC skyline

By Mark |

We had a wonderful experience here. The views are unparalleled and Andrew Carmellini’s menu is inventive and delicious. The tempura bass buns were especially memorable. Westlight will be one of my top recommendations for out of town guests from now on.

Plenty of time to take in the views!

By JamesOliverC91 |

Had booked to go for evening drinks with my partner to toast our recent engagement. After reading great reviews, we were looking forward to it but unfortunately Westlight didn't live up to our expectations. On the plus side, you can enjoy great views of Manhattan from across the river. But sadly, that's where the positives concluded for us. Having been shown to our table at 5:50pm, we waited....and waited....and waited a little longer until we were asked for our order. My fiancé and I had time to carefully identify each Manhattan skyscraper by the time our drinks arrived - no apology made by any staff. Very unfortunate as the location and the William Vale Hotel itself are both impressive!

Excellent on all respects

By malibuirishmike |

Pre dinner drinks and appetizers with my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. We were seated inside which was fine as it was a little chilly outdoors. Still enjoyed marvelous views of the Manhattan skyline and were able to take some snaps from outside and from the roof (where there was a raucous frat scene). Cocktails were excellent and our appetizer pair of potato skins and tempura bun were first rate. Service was polished and professional, yet friendly.

Disgusting welcome

By mariettavvidales |

I did a reservation 3 weeks ago at the location, I told them that my entire family from Spain will come, I took the only spot free 8:45pm. At that time nobody told me that kids are not allow after 9pm. So I came with my family from Manhattan paying 60 dollars taxi, we arrived to the host desk and they told me about the kids, so really disgusting service, they really don’t know how to transmit to customers the policy. Very upset, probably they really don’t care but I will never ever recommmed again this place to anyone.

The Place with a View !!!

By Lee Ann J |

This bars view of the Manhattan skyline from the roof top is truly phenomenal. Staff are friendly and efficient. The food menu isn’t huge but the “bar bites” they do offer are delicious. I’d highly recommend the cauliflower dip and the beef burger. Plus lots of unique drinks ..... like the flavourful chai colada.

Cancelled with no explanation!

By Sian B |

I’d heard great things about Westlight and was so excited to have it booked as part of our trip to NY. I booked a table for 3 back on May 1st so that I knew we could have a table. A couple of hours before we were due to go. I received an email saying that it was cancelled with no explanation why. I tried to call but couldn’t get through so messaged on Instagram but didn’t hear anything. Very disappointed. Why have a booking system in place if they’re cancelled at the last minute?!

Excellent view to Manhattan

By Ágnes B |

Exclusive rooftop bar on the top of Hotel William Vale. Beautiful view, polite stuff, professional bar tenders. It was a little bit crowded for us, mainly on weekend. Popular place in Brooklyn.

I had the best server

By Apoena J |

My buddies and I went to Westlight last night and had one of the best nights out in a while. We got a table outside with a really solid view. Drinks were good, food was awesome , it was seven of us and we all go the burger. Stephen was our server who kept the party going. His energy was the type of vibe I wish we we got with every server. We only came for a few drinks and some food. The next thing I knew we were doing shots, shots, and more shots. Stephen kept us going with the great service and his fun personality. We were all visiting each other from different parts of the world and we needed this to be a great night, and it was even better than we planned. Stephen I hope you are reading this, please keep up the good work man. Next time we come we are taking you out with us !

Amazing views and food and drink to match.

By AMBesq80 |

At the top of the William Vale Hotel, Westlight's top outdoor floor offers unobstructed views of most of Manhattan's skyline. We tried their french friends, octopus, and duck tacos along with a few of their drinks and all the food and mixed drinks were delicious. Between the food and the view you can't go wrong. It's worth the trip. Reservations were hard to get for the same day, but they were taking walk-ins and if you keep checking their website it seems things open up.

rooftop bar with fine dining dishes

By Foodpope4Life |

it was a recommendation from a fb group and oh boy this was a good one. a must seen place if you are in nyc. brooklyn is a very nice neighborhood and seeing the manhattan skyline is just the icing on the cake. you need to reserve a table it was very crowded and we had to wait for our table. our waiter juan was very kind and his recommendation on point. it is a rooftop bar, but they serve fine dining food as well. the best i had so far in the entire usa. the tres leches is to die for. my virgin margarita was never tasted before flavor. thumbs up. go there now!!!

Great roof top

By KKM2010 |

Amazing view even if it was cloudy ! Can’t imagine a sunshiny day !!! Great food, incredible cocktails and the waiters really nice, always smiling, we felt like home !!! Muchas gracias

Stunning views AND great food/coctails

By michellema54 |

So many rooftops get away with relying on the views but Westlight hs it all: stunning views of the Manhattan skyline, fabulous cocktails, delicious bites, and attentive service - from the hostess stand, to the bar, to the table servers. A great place for drinks/apps in Brooklyn.

Perfect for a night out

By DeJaneé M |

Was taken here by my friends for my birthday last month and it couldn’t have been any better. They only serve tapas but the menu does have a variety of options. Prices are very reasonable and the view is amazing. We made it right in time for sunset which was perfect timing. The service wasn’t the best, there’s plenty of servers walking around the area but was hard to locate our actual waiter at times but wasn’t that big of a deal. Would highly recommend for a special occasion.

Rude seater

By Trine |

I went with my boyfriend to get dinner and drinks a friday night. We were dressed up for a night out. Unfortunately the seater told us (with an arrogant and rude attitude) that there was no table available and that we could only get in Line if we had a us-phonenumber (which we hadn’t). Instead we went upstairs to get a cocktail and 10 mins later we looked downstairs and saw at least 10 available tables. We spoke to another seater who showed us right away to an available table. Afterwards we waited half an hour to order, even though we asked for a waiter. The place gave such a bad impression and we won’t come back. There are a lot of other good rooftop bars in nyc.

Amazing.

By JackIe4536 |

Four friends and myself went here for dinner and drinks, was fantastic. The staff couldnt have been more accommodating, the food the drinks and especially the view were amazing. I will for sure come back in the summer

Disappointing

By devongirlie67 |

We'd read the reviews about how good this place was and were completely disappointed when we got here. We went for drinks one evening after it had got dark to see the views of Manhattan. The waiting staff seems to take no interest in us as we weren't here to eat. They waved us in with no help about where to go or where to sit. We made our way out of the indoor bit and onto the balcony then up some stairs to an outdoor seating area with fake grass on the floor. There was one small bar at the end nearest the stairs with a few drinks menus on and two staff making the drinks. They were very overpriced drinks, there was no table service and the drinks came in cheap plastic glasses. The cocktail I ordered I couldn't even finish because it tasted vile.

Amazing Views

By RLM |

This was the best view we had from anywhere we visited in New York, the skyline looks incredible from this rooftop. We didn't book a table, just went up spur of the moment for a drink. It was obviously very busy as you would expect so we didn't expect to get a table, but were quite happy at the bar and taking our drink outside to the balcony. Definitely go even for a drink or two to see the view on a clear day!

Mid-Afternoon Snack in a beautiful Fall Sunday

By HenryNYC |

This place deserves a very high mark for an overall experience, from food, drink, scenery, to ambiance. We chose to go not at lunch or dinner rush hour so you can find parking easily as well as to avoid long wait for table. It has a wonderful drink and food menu and they were of decent portion. Sake came in a wine glass and it was fantastic! Do wear your sun glasses as the rays are piercing but the spectacular views are still all around you. Service might be slow but who cares when you are enjoying so many other things.

Best skyline view

By Laurent H |

Living in New-York, I have the chance to have tested several rooftops. This one is definitly the best one to get the skyline view. It worth the waiting line (I recommend to come before the opening, coming at 5:10 on a Saturday night, I had to wait 50 minutes before being able to go to the bar). Cocktails are good and not so expensive (for New-York). You can go on the rooftop to take picture and enjoy the view even in winter. You can take your drink on the bar or have some food on tables.

Gorgeous views, fabulous drinks

By Lisa Wheeler |

We ordered this fall drink made with rye and holiday spices. the name escapes me but it was absolutely delicious. unparalleled 360 views!

Trendy bar, restaurant with amazing views.

By Jean T |

Interesting Spanish Caribbean menu, pleasant service, though there is a 90 minute limit. Great cocktails.

the view is great but that was it for me.

By 502ericaf |

parking is street parking unless you are a guest at the hotel and pay for the hotel valet. this is located at the terrace of the hotel and it has amazing views. there's outside and inside sitting. we tried to get a table when we came in and they gave us a hard time, we waited for very long and I took the time to go to a reservation app to see If they were that kind of busy, turns out they had a lot of availability, they did not try to accommodate us right away even though we were guests at the hotel, to me it seems like they do that as a strategy to make the place seem more desirable, not a very good strategy to me at all. THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT, IT IS A TAPAS PLACE. small platters are all you will find here with the exception of the burger. CHAI COLADA- it was a ok drink, however there was so much ice it was not worth it. I would skip this drink. BURGER - Only meal like item on the menu, bread was hard. FRIES COCONUT TRES LECHES - I can safely say that this cake tasted nothing like coconut. There was a ton of citrus in it. It made no sense to me. this place seems to me to get busy only cause of the atmosphere, the drinks were not great and the food is not worth the price at all. the service of the waitress was also not super exceptional. Weirdly enough the busboy was so effective at cleaning the table that at the time of desert he actually stood next to us waiting for us to finish the last bites of the cake so he could clean the table. for the views it is definitely a nice place, everything else was not worth it.

Just for the View

By Raiya |

The view is great, can't deny that, but Westlight really doesn't stand out beyond that. First off don't go there hungry, luckily we weren't but plates are small, and a bit boring in comparison to the quality at nearby restaurants and hotels. In a place so well designed you would expect the food to be more interesting it seems like a lost opportunity, the menu jumps all over the place from dumplings to nachos, sliders and wings none of which were particular tasty or refined considering how expensive they were even for New York standards. We went on a Friday night but found the mood subdued, very quiet background music no DJ, quite tired irritable and slow serving staff who needed to be grabbed for their attention, it certainly wasn't the life of the party place we were expecting considering it opens till 2, by 11.30 we moved on - it felt more appropriate for a business meeting than an evening with friends.

Impressed with the views

By Jacques R |

Came to this place after having lunch at Peter Luger to have some drinks and enjoy the view with my family! Boy did I have a pleasant surprise... we had reservations, and these are highly recommended... we had a table inside as it was drizzling... the views of Manhattan are simply awesome! We had a nice table that had great views as well and were served quite nice... there is food available but we just had drinks.... ambiance on a Saturday afternoon is very good... lots of nice people, definitely a great plan for a weekend afternoon... cheers and enjoy the views...

Pricey, but your paying for the views!

By pageporter |

Westlight is a swanky rooftop bar on the 22nd floor of the William Vale Hotel. We got there around 3:00 on a Saturday afternoon and lucked out by getting the last outdoor table. Outdoor tables are first come, first serve. Reservations are available inside, but the views are not as spectacular as the outside area. Speciality cocktails average $18 and wine was $15 and up. The Saturday we were there was a gorgeous afternoon, so it was crowded. It became standing room only by 3:30 and we could of easily sold our table for $50 as people pretty much jumped into our seats when we got up to leave. When we left and took the elevator down to the first floor of the hotel, there was a line of people that extended all the way outside, who were waiting to go up. It was at least a two hour wait. So if you want a table, get there by 3:00, nurse your $18 drink until sunset, or prepare to wait on a very long line starting around 5:00 (or earlier) I highly recommend this expensive rooftop bar but you need to get there early!

Great place, best place to see NYC skyline. Good food, a bit expensive for the small portions. Great drinks. Must visit place

Pretty unique rooftop hangout!

By Andy P |

I chose to have a low-key birthday here. Didn't want to do the club thing. I loved everything about this place. The hotel is beautiful. I didn't even know this building was in Williamsburg and I hang out in the neighborhood from time to time. Luckily I was sat where we had an amazing view to the city. The only thing I didn't like was the variety of food. Wish they had more choices. The food was good however and the drinks were strong. I would have given them 5 stars however, I feel like if they had a larger menu, I would have gone more than once.

Amazing view

By Michel M |

Westlight is another great attraction in Williamsburg’s charming, relaxed neighborhood. In addition to the wide variety of drinks, it offers spectacular views of Manhattan. We went late in the afternoon and could watch the sunset and the lights on the island.

Westlight

By Thermite Tours |

Charming rooftop bar with jaw dropping views of the city up top. The vibes were very good (as one would expect in Brooklyn). Drinks took a very long time to make and receive, it is best to get a table and indulge in their delicious menu (The Peruvian Roasted Chicken is A+). Drinks as one would expect are on the high end ($20) but it is well worth it for the experience.

Great rooftop for drinks!

By Benjamin-traveler |

This place can get very busy before sunset. You can get a table inside (wait or reservation), or order at the bar and sneak outside for that instagram shot. $9 beer, $16 wine glass. Good cocktail list. This is a great spot to meet up friends, chill and enjoy the view. Trendy williamsburg at its best.

Perfect view on may evening

By Jeanette B |

Very nice view with perfect ambience. The food was really good (burger & fries) the birthday drinks also ;) Service was excellent, very courteous, kind and lovely. If you’re in NYC You have to visit this place

Great views, just don’t expect to see it

By tal202 |

After an utterly miserable morning, we were very excited that the sun came out just in time for our visit to Westlight. Fortunately I had made a reservation so we breezed past the line and got seated inside. We didn’t mind sitting indoors given I burn so easily so we ordered drinks from our lovely server. What surprised me is that despite having a booking and buying drinks we were refused to walk around the outside balcony by a different rather rude waiter. We challenged and were told ‘tough’ but when I asked our waitress she seemed surprised and said it was fine. The views were fab and then we quickly returned to our seats. From our view we could see others walking around so I don’t know why he took against us. Having said that, the lady sitting next to us who went out after paying up was treated similarly but she gave up and left. Whilst I appreciate they may want to avoid sightseers, that is not an appropriate way to treat paying guests. Fortunately the drinks were nice and I would seriously recommend the chicken empanadas. Not cheap but worth the price. I would just suggest management consider their approach and training of staff going forward.

Dissapoiting. Bad views!

By Jelte S |

So excited to go here for the view. But once we got there, they gave us a table with a very bad and poor view. I was sitting with my back to Manhatten and had a view of tennis court.

Worst restaurant Brooklyn

By dulimtl |

Worst experience ever in a restaurant, from the time we can in it went to bad to worse .the drinks were horrible had big ice cubes in a margarita and had to taste just tasted the simple syrup ..when food came in it was cold and un eatable the waiter didn’t even cared about us kept on chilling by the counter ..I even mentioned that I’m coming to celebrate my birthday didn’t even cared about it either ..to be honest this place doesn’t really care about customers they just wanna make money ..I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who wants to have great experience..waste of time and money

Just look at that view…..

By stewW4 |

We had just booked for drinks at the rather early time of 5.45. We stayed for dinner because seeing the sun set over Manhattan from our perfect table on a warm evening was irresistible. The service from the start was so good. The cocktail menu is interesting. The Corpse Reviver at €21 did the job. The wine we ordered was not available but we were offered a similar quality wine at a slightly cheaper price (€60). The burgers we ordered were very good - medium rare. A very busy vibe - and a perfect place to enjoy the sun going down.

Fantastic place!

By GirlfromLewes |

Great cocktails, amazing location and views back across to Manhattan, good service too. Would highly recommend this place. Make sure you pre book well in advance as very popular.

Not suitable for sunset!

By DieBubis |

Supposedly one of the best rooftop bars for watching the sunset. A total failure. The sunset is obscured by various skyscrapers, it is totally overcrowded, the staff is understaffed. After more than an hour of still not getting any drinks (when we asked, we were always told "a colleague will be here soon") or not even being able to order, we left.

Beautiful Brooklyn Rooftop

By C C |

This rooftop is my # 1 and I love coming to the Westlight at the William Vale hotel every time I visit to NYC. The view is overwhelming and endless. The size of the NYC skyline can be felt here like no other place. The atmosphere is fun & the service is great. The menu offers a good variety ( we love the hummus ) and the drinks are great too. It's cozy inside during winter and so much fun outside as it gets warmer.

Amazing Place to watch the sunset over NY

By Lauren W |

We went here for a few drinks in a late afternoon on a recent trip to NY and got a great spot for watching the sun go down over the city, honestly breathtaking. It can get very windy up there though just to beware! The staff were polite and courteous without being overbearing. Service was efficient and facilities were very clean. We didn't eat here but the food looked nice

Disappointed

By julieC5167PW |

Was so looking forward to this but unfortunately my husband took ill and I gave 22 hours notice to be charged $50 for a late cancellation. It was 2 hours less than the required 24 hours I emailed as soon as I knew we couldn’t make it, very disappointing and they ignored my email advising my disappointment.

Amazing views!

By VParPed |

We were having dinner here and It was a good option. The food is quite good (different small meals prepared/batter to share). The views are fantastic, then you can finish with a coctel in the terrace. The only issue is to come back to Manhattan with Public transport as the nearest metro is around 20/25min walking.

Beautiful view but...

By Enrike_59 |

The prices are correct, the service not so bad but there are plenty of empty tables outside where you are not allowed to sit...

Bad experience

By Christina B |

Hello. We had a reservation at the restaurant at 5:45 and we arrived almost at 6:15 as we came from Time Square. We arrived and sat inside as it was booked about 5 minutes later the weather changed and a strong storm started, the people outside came in after the things flew and there was some broken glass. I know it's not the restaurant's fault. But the order was taken after 50 minutes because of what happened and we know that the table is supposed to be reserved for 90 minutes normally. But we came to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was our last day here. We didn't feel like we were celebrating and the waiter came 20 minutes after bringing the order with the bill (meaning pay and go). We paid and there were looks from the waiters, get up and go. After we got up, I went to the official and told him that we did not feel that we were celebrating and that the service was not good. They suggested that we drink two glasses of champagne, we thanked them and went. Unfortunately it is supposed to be a high quality restaurant and because of that I chose it to celebrate regardless of the weather, it is supposed to take care and it is not our fault that we ordered food after 50 minutes. I am very upset and have never enjoyed and will not advise anyone and will write in a trip advisor about what happened. Sorry for the harshness. You did not serve as you should.

Great view, poor service

By AuroreS22 |

The view is amazing and food and cocktails are very good (thus pricy for the area). Yet, the service is terrible - they’re nice - but they make you feel like they want you to leave (they take your plate before your done, same thing for the drinks.... I went there twice and had the same experience, with friends and family. That’s a shame!

For the skyline

By Lauren J |

As expected the skyline sunset views were exceptional. It was very windy on the day we went but apart from that it was very cool experience. Prices are what would be paid in any other rooftop bar. Worth a visit for the views. I had reserved a table outside which I would advise to do if you can.

Wonderful

By Sophie Melissa Hughes |

Really cool vibe at Westlight. The view is just gorgeous and I can imagine it would be even better at sunset. We only had drinks and by NY standards they were reasonably priced. The service was excellent. Would highly recommend for a day away from the hustle and bustle.

4th of July

By Abasile |

We came here for the 4th of July because it was "the best place" to see the fireworks. The view of the sunset and the city was beautiful and the fireworks could be seen from their rooftop. However, this bar is literally the douchiest bar ive ever been to. I have never seen more plastic surgery in my life. It is definitely a place to be "seen" at. The drinks are over $20 per cocktail and there is NO FOOD to order. They did come around with free snacks half way through which was appreciated. Also the timed entrance ticket is just a ploy to get you there early so you spend more money. The fireworks do not start until 9:30pm, and im sure you could have arrived at whatever time you wanted. The music was horrible trance techno. Also they save the edges for all the VIP tables so you cant even really get a great picture. This is not what I expected for my 4th of July experience. ( Disclaimer- My husband and I are in our 30's from Boulder Colorado and prefer the mountains, so this place was clearly not our "scene". )

Great view for a nice get together

By Culture116991 |

Friends wanted to try a rooftop with a view. We choose the Westlight and must say that was a very good choice. Great view on NYC skyline, lots of space for each party (we were 6). Lots of drinks and food to choose from. Very good service, effort made of choice of sofa/chairs and real plates/ silverware. Plus, never rushed out. Just strange that we had to pay for extra chips...

Amazing view and amazing place

By Elvira-Lila |

This rooftop is just crazy I loved it. Definitely need a reservation and is great place to enjoy NYC lights. Food was good and drinks also nice

The view is breathtaking!!!

By Doron S |

We visited the place after getting tipped off by our daughter, who recommended the place. The view from the balcony of the 22nd floor is breathtaking!!! Some live music (cool saxophonist, but I didn't like their music), cocktails, some bites, and it felt so nice! I would come back again.

great views

great bar. outdoor area a little hot and windy but staff happy to move tables round. Good service and cocktails but the real reason to go is the amazing views

Outstanding view and experience

By sej60 |

We were here twice on the same evening, once around 6 pm and later near midnight. Staff are fabulous, food is excellent, and the views from the 22nd floor as the sun is setting at after dark are amazing. Highly recommend.

Extremely un professional Host who was extremely rude on our visit early evening 4 Sept. Clear training needs identified in this front of house role. Ruined the experience

Pessimo

Pessimo. We made a reservation two weeks in advance for my mother’s birthday. As a special request we specified we were coming with an infant five-months old. Reservation confirmed. Once we got there they did not allowed us to get in because of the baby and no valid alternatives were offered despite the fact the reservation had been confirmed.

My Friends and I were super excited to go to WestLight and to finally get a reservation. Keep reading on why I rate it a 3. First off, the ambiance, the decor , the VIEWS 1000% to die for and gorgeous! Everything else was really unexpected for the price and place. I work in the hospitality industry and service to me is Huge! Our waitress took our orders and pretty much that’s it, never engaged or asked if we were ok and needed anything else. I waved my hand at her to get her attention multiple times, waited on our cocktails twice for a good amount of time. She could’ve easily offered a round on the house for waiting 20 mins on drinks, which we had to remind her twice. The staff definitely needs some retraining. Food is good but not the best, I’ve had better. Food is not consistent on taste, one plate tasted different than the other. Cocktails, don’t even bother. My table except for one person switched or returned it. Taste is watered down and couldn’t even make a simple cosmo or margarita. Stick to the wine and beer list. Forget about even looking at your bill, I guess you just have to trust your waitress. They take the orders on an iPad but you would assume for the type of place you would be able to print a receipt. It’s either one person pays or you def. can’t split to see what you had since we cannot even touch the iPad due to COVID. The waitress said “yeah it’s just all there” Unfortunately I’m very disappointed.

All right.

You have to want to, take the subway and walk about ten minutes (but Williamsburg is a lively and nice neighborhood). The view is fantastic all over New York. The inside is a bit noisy, the outside can be cool if you are chilly but it allows to have the view. Cocktail a little expensive for quantity.

Beautiful views

Really great ambiance and amazing cocktails at Westlight. Service was awesome and even though we didn’t make a reservation, they managed to accommodate us rather nicely. Only negative is that we were rather hungry and hoping for a more extensive dinner menu... only nibbles were available when we went. Otherwise all round gorgeous venue.

Stunning views. Thank you Kristina!

Absolutely the most stunning views! The food was different but good, the service was very nice but very busy. The price is expensive but I like the order and exclusivity, I felt like a celebrity. Westlight is hard to find, it’s a big space but compared to everywhere else in the area it’s by far the best! It’s just hard to get a table so book ahead. Must book a reservation! Kristina the Maitre’d is fantastic and well organized! She booked a party for me for 20 people with only 2 days notice. The day turned to be raining but she and her team did everything to make my husbands birthday special. Thank you Kristina!!! Will visit every time we visit New York city without a doubt !

What Manhattan Views!

Make a reservation for a light meal and drinks on the top floor of the WIliam Vale Hotel. A long line of young people were waiting on the ground floor for entrance on an elevator, as space permitted in the restaurant/bar, but with the reservation, we headed right up. The small plates to share were very good, drinks (Aperol Spritzes as good as what I had just had in Argentina), and the waitstaff was very pleasant. In addition, the views and outdoor area (weather permitting) were lovely.

Must try

Wonderful views with unbelievable drinks! Try the Matcha martini! Service was great. We will definitely go back!!!!!

Gorgeous views, although does vary depending where you get sat

Firstly the views at this place are absolutely stunning. However we were given a table along the outside wall of the restaurant which meant we had the over hang and other tables blocking our view a bit in comparison to the front tables. Drinks were very very expensive. You’re looking around $20 for a cocktail and $60+ for a bottle of wine. But we appreciate in a place like this you’re paying for the view. Had a really nice vibe, music playing. Staff were pleasant enough. Overall definitely worth a visit but maybe specify when you book you would like a table close to the edge so you can see the view more clearly.

BEST SUNSET OVERLOOKING MANHATTAN

By Yanine |

From movie watch the sunset in Westlight!!! something inexplicable, for me certainly the best view of the Manhattan skyline is here. We got a movie sunset. We arrived and our table was clear and ready on the terrace. I found the drinks a little expensive but it is worth 100%!

Could it be any prettier?

Okay, so I wanted our trip to NYC to include a rooftop bar experience. I did a bit of homework on the places in Manhattan close-ish to our apartment in the East Village and none of them felt right. So, we took the L and headed over to Williamsburg and Westlight to get the best Manhattan view of all (being all of it). We made reservations (from the other reviews I read, I think this is key). The wait staff were friendly and attentive. We were there early September and arrived around 4:30 in the afternoon and waited out the hot afternoon sun until dusk. A spectacular view as the lights of Manhattan switched on. Besides the view, there are other things to enjoy about Westlight: the food was good; the cocktails, wine and beer delicious; and the music a really good mix. We spent a small fortune, but we were there for a few hours and it was all totally worth it.

This place is simply amazing . Everything about it. The staff friendly and efficient , the food excellent and the views amazing. It is definitely a great place for a drink and dinner or lunch on a beautiful day . I totally recommend this as a must visit.

Amazing view!

I came here for my birthday dinner and the views were nothing short of amazing! Awesome view of the river and the rest of the city at night! I would totally recommend this to anyone traveling to the area! Make sure you make a reservation a few hours beforehand! The only thing I didn't like was that there were few vegan/vegetarian options - granted it is mostly cocktails on the menu (which tasted great). I ended up eating only herb fries and cheesecake

Perfect experience

I used the Westlight as a place to ask my partner to marry me. I tried one or two other rooftop bars before and none were willing to help or seemed interested. Westlight replied straight away, gave us the best seat in the house and the lovely waitress kindly accompanied us on the rooftop and recorded me proposing. We came all the way from Wales, UK so I wanted it to be perfect! Amazingly beautiful views, some of the best of Manhattan, the food was so good and the drinks were great. We recently did one of the ‘Skyscrapers’ views. I’d argue Westlight is just as good or better as you can see all of the Manhattan skyline. All in all, a wonderful experience and I am thankful to have Westlight as part of a special day. The fine details in there are spot on. Low light so you can really see and take in the skyline when it gets dark. If you are in New York/Brooklyn then you have to visit! Thank you so much and we will be returning in the future!

Waiter who ruined everything

By Francoise M |

First great welcome However, we came across an odious server We wisely wait for the card And without explanation the waiter assaults us makes us change places No problem old restaurateur I change places and when I ask him the card he yells at us The big boss should teach him to talk to customers especially tourists I reported it to the reception because during my stay I have never seen a waiter so odious and rude
