Very good first time visit!

By Morris C |

Met our son for a pre-concert dinner. Food was very good; waitress a little pushy about ordering but we were there at 5pm so not a long dinner by any means. Interesting area of the city. A/C could have been better but they had just opened. Very good selection of Asian and American flavors!

Beautiful atmosphere with great food

By CraftBeers |

We loved Whiskey Bird. The white-washed brick storefront has a simple elegance to it. Inside, the open airy decor has a loft feeling. The thin row of patio seating out back is great in nice weather. Service was enjoyable. The host and bartenders were busy but engaged. They answered questions fully and made great recommendations. The food was wonderful. My warm quinoa bowl had fresh vegetables with crunchy nuts and seeds. The poached egg on top pulled it all together. The chorizo sweet potato has was very good. So was the Bao Benedict. Another huge bonus are the craft beers. They don't have a lot, but the fact that they have any is great. Great place. I am positive my wife will want to come back here during future visits.

Great food and service

This was our second time eating here. Everything was perfect both times. This time we had the Crispy Grouper sandwich on brioche bun, the Hong King fried chicken sliders as an appetizer, and the key lime pie with macadamia nuts and coconut for dessert. Best key lime pie dessert we’ve ever had. Our new favorite place to eat.

Brunch

Another great choice by my husband. Last minute selection, which I ordered the steak breakfast burrito and comes with greens and he had the burger top with bacon and avocado served with fries. Most places had a long wait, but they had open seating right away. We would like to try their dinner menu next time. Go check them out if you’re in the area.

Wonderful Food and Ambiance!

We loved the Yakitori and small plate style of serving. An extensive wine (and whiskey) list added to the delicious food and atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to go back!

Best Brussels Sprouts in Atlanta

By marvlatitall |

While they have many yummy items (great steak, pork tenderloin- delish tuna tacos) the star here are the Brussels sprouts. Crispy-with bacon, miso sauce, shaved dried BONITO TUNA, and a sunny side up egg in the center!!! I have them as my entree! They have many other great veggie options for your non-meat folks.

A little gem in Morningside Village.

We selected Whiskey Bird for an early bite before heading to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for Sip and Stroll in the Garden. A nice bonus was that there were early bird specials going on when we arrived. Our waitress was super helpful recommending a fantastic appetizer, the Peruvian Chicken Tacos. The taco shells were crisp and flavorful and the chicken was juicy and well seasoned. The real star was the Blackened Grouper. I was a little skeptical of grapes paired with arugula and tomatoes, but the grapes provided a nice contrast to the spice of the blackened grouper. The one item that we did not enjoy was the dip duo. The queso/salsa and guacamole were uninspired almost a store bought kind of quality to them.

Great brunch spot!

By CSSS |

Omg! Whiskey Bird is awesome!! We went for brunch. I got a Bloody Mary and the vegetarian breakfast burrito and my husband got the Caribbean coffee (it’s an iced coffee drink with rum in it) and the fried chicken breakfast burrito. We both loved our food. The atmosphere is perfect. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful with our questions. We got a slice of the hummingbird cake to go. All around wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

Asian Fusion with a Twist

By robertgoingjr |

Interesting dining concept in a popular area. Great atmosphere, appetizers, and service. The salmon and wonton dish and the croquettes were the highlights.

Food looks and tastes great!

By juliegI6249SD |

I can tell that this restaurant takes time and care with the presentation of the food it serves. The plates looked so good that you didn’t want to mess it up. However, it looked so good that you can’t wait to taste it. And they didn’t disappoint! All I tasted was yummy! The service was friendly and helpful with the menu. The food came out pretty quick. We had just finished appetizers.

Great neighborhood spot

By Richard M |

With the closing of Morningside Kitchen the area is now pretty spare in its eating choices. Whiskey Bird is a nice, inexpensive casual spot. Small plates and tapas primarily. Everything we've had is good. Only complaint is when it is full it is very loud and hard to carry on a conversation. Ask for outside seating if that's a concern.

Great new Morningside Village restaurant

By Danielle P |

Loved the food, atmosphere and our waiter, Paul. Roasted cauliflower and the ahi tuna were amazing. The dessert, a bowl of soft serve with cereal toppings, was so fun. Will definitely be back!

just loved it

By Jim B |

service food attitude presentation all just wonderful. delighted to have such a good spot in the neighborhood again. a winner.

Tapas with a twist.

By Jim B |

We were here for Mother's Day brunch. The food selections are unique and sharing allows for everyone to get a taste. Order from the Yakitori menu and enjoy the different skewers. The Brunch menu has some really flavorful dishes such as the Avocado Toast, BAO Benedict and Fried Chicken and Bubble Waffle.

Outstanding Gem in Morningside

By GoJackets97 |

Had dinner twice on Saturday evenings and Whisky Bird nailed it both times. Service, food and environment were all top notch. You can tell that the owners Anthony and Chad pay attention to the details here. This restaurant just opened recently but it feels like it's been around for a while. Food is American with a fusion twist and entrees are meant to be shared. Start by ordering several off the small bites Shi-ta-ki app menu. Fantastic skewer-based apps. The main salads and entrees are all outstanding and the flavor profile is amazing. Bar scene is good here too with many hanging out enjoying their craft cocktails. We will be back!

Birthday Dinner

By Ben H |

My son turned 20 and we were looking for a great restaurant to celebrate. WB did not disappoint. We decided to have a number of appetizers to share. The selections on the menu were very good. We ordered theWHOLE ROASTED CAULIFLOWER, tSPICY KOREAN BRAISED SHORT RIB, some of AL PASTOR TACOS, ROASTED PORK TENDERLOIN and CRISPY BRUSSELS SPROUTS.... all great choices on the menu. It was tasty, and well presented. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive... We shall be back.

Our new favorite restaurant in Atlanta!

By VBATL |

You have to try this relatively new restaurant! It has been opened for a little more than a year and the food is really very good with excellent service. I meant to leave a review earlier, but we have been there many times and we have never been disappointed. It is very inexpensive (likely too inexpensive for the place to continue like that), so go soon to enjoy everything before prices increase. The chef Chad used to be at the Iberian Pig in Decatur. Very friendly and very creative. The menu changed recently and the new items are excellent. Cannot have enough of the Peruvian Chicken Tacos, Tuna and Ceviche! Many small plates or plates to share. Try everything and just come back. It is as good (if not better) than most of the renowned (and way more expensive) restaurants in Atlanta and Decatur. Located in the heart of Virginia Highland and easily accessible.

HIDDEN FEES...NOT CUSTOMER FOCUSED

By ITravel97 |

WATCH OUT FOR THE HIDDEN FEES!!!! AUTOMATIC 3% MANDATORY FEE The restaurant does not accept cash BUT REQUIRES a 3% SURCHARGE just to pay. 2ND SURCHARGE JUST TO PAY On top of that, they also charge you a "digital fee" to pay via the online app they provide you at checkout. You can ask to pay directly, but they will not offer unless you ask. AUTOMATIC 25% TIP unless you opt out The app automatically adds a 25% gratuity unless you specifically change it. AUTOMATIC UP CHARGES Additionally, the staff will up charge you for premium liquor even if you don't request it, and sometimes they might state it in a way that makes you assume the name brand liquor is the standard. YOU WON"T GET YOUR "Restaurant" bonus points on your credit card Restaurant payment app does not code as a "Restaurant/dining" and you will not earn you bonus points/miles like other restaurants. NICKEL AND DIME!! Not a way to run a business.

Creative menu

By jaime w |

There's a lot of interesting menu choices, I wish there were more than 2 of us so we could have tried a lot more food! We definitely got a great sample though: several skewers of various meats - octopus, pork belly, stuffed peppers, shrimp. Then we tried the spaghetti squash and crispy brussels sprouts. Everything was delicious! The service was wonderful too - we had a fabulous waitress!

Thank you Whiskey Bird

By Brian |

Great neighborhood restaurant and bar that continues to provide high quality food and drink even during this global pandemic. Great service and great food! Thank you!

Deliciously Different

By LuckySpivey |

Good small plates. Best Brussel sprouts -topped with an egg ! Whiskey menu has many different takes on familiar cocktails. Service indifferent.

Lousy service and mediocre food

By carlasue31 |

I was looking for a fun place to take a friend in celebration of my birthday. We had an early reservation (6:15) and I requested a quiet table. We arrived on time, ordered drinks and dinner-- in a few courses-- and at 7:10 we were told that we must leave as another party would be coming in! What?!?! Mediocre food, perfunctory service (wonky table I was made to adjust myself), and then booted in less than hour?! Never again!

So much potential... wasted!

By Villouf |

Whiskey Bird has great potential from location point of view. We live nearby and have visited on several occasions. The food is mediocre at best. Anthony and Chad (the owners) have to challenge themselves to up the ante here. The drinks are ok. The wine list is limited. The decor and ambiance are plain, borderline insipid. No identity, no warmth... So much potential wasted! A shame.

Creative, but just okay food

By alexisrachelletx |

My husband and I had brunch at Whiskey Bird this past Saturday when we were visiting Atlanta for my birthday. We made a reservation that day, but there were very few slots left (so reservations definitely aren't a bad idea). While they have a brunch menu with items like avocado toast, bao benedict, fried chicken and bubble waffle, etc., we decided to share a few small items so we could try more of the menu. We tried four items from the yakitori menu: crispy chicken meatball (with cilantro lime crema), pork tenderloin (with spicy gochujang bbq glaze), pork belly (with ponzu brown butter), and charred octopus (with chinese sausage and yuzu kosho aioli). All of them were pretty good, but none so good that I'd have to order them again if I went back to Whiskey Bird. We got one order of each of the gyoza tacos (each order comes with two tacos): Peruvian chicken (with aji pepper sauce and cotija cheese), Hawaiian tuna (with cucumber, mango, and avocado), and al pastor (with braised pork, grilled pineapple salsa, cilantro lime crema). The taco "shells" are fried wonton wrappers, which was a fun twist. My favorite was the al pastor, but my husband preferred the chicken. The tuna taco really needed the lime wedges they served on the side (as it was a bit bland otherwise). We also tried two of the "Hong Kong sliders" - sliders made from bao buns (it's one slider cut in half for a serving). We tried one of the fried chicken (with dill pickle and wb sauce), and one of the saltine-crusted fish (with yuzu caper tartar). The chicken slider was good, but the saltine-crusted fish "slider" was my favorite, as the fish was perfectly cooked. It was the best bite of food I had during the meal. The restaurant is pretty, and the service was good. While we liked everything we tried, I enjoyed the concept of the dishes more than the actual taste. Everything felt a little flat to me. However, it was a fun meal - and the menu is definitely on the more creative side. If we lived in Atlanta, I'd probably give it a second shot to wow me. As we live in Nashville and only visit Atlanta occasionally, it didn't impress me enough to keep it on the list of places I'd return to on a next visit.

Delicious New Restaurant

By Elliot C |

I met a group of friends at Whiskey Bird a couple of nights ago and couldn't have been happier with the evening. We had a party of 10 and they set us up with a semi-private room between the patio and the main dining area. We ordered family style and shared the various dishes and everybody sort of found their favorites. I loved the 72-hour ribeye and the charred octopus yakatori. The brussle sprout salad is also a must in my book. They had an interesting looking cocktail menu as well, although I stuck to the Malbec and was very pleased. I hope it's patio weather next time I'm there, although I know I'll be happy either way!

Best hamburger I've personally had in Atlanta since arriving in 1968.

By AtlantaJim |

Two weekends before my most recent visit I stopped in on a Saturday with my wife, Susan, and a friend during their Brunch. It was a new place for all three of us, and we weren't familiar with the menu. The two ladies each had different salads, but I really just wanted a good sandwich. I thought about trying the Yakitori items, but their WB Burger caught my eye. I decided to give it a try. I've been disappointed over and over by all burgers I've tried in the last 20 or so years, including those offered by several of the newer burger specialty spots. None were really terrible, but, in the same vein, none were memorable. Whiskey Bird's burger didn't really sound special - burger stack, cheddar cheese, the ever present "special sauce", pickles and slaw served on a locally made brioche roll - but it really was memorable. It wasn't one of those monstrosities you can't eat in your hands, but it was large enough to be satisfying, and the flavor was outstanding. I'd like to know what there was in that special sauce, because it really does the job. I'm one of those hamburger bigots that always wants to add mustard to any cheese or hamburger I have, but not this time. I do want to try some of their other menu items, but I'm definitely going to get another hamburger there, soon. I returned to Whiskey Bird on a non-brunch day for lunch with another friend last Thursday fully intending to have that follow-up burger, but my fickle eye landed on the two different Gyoza Tacos on the appetizer section of the menu. I finally decided on one order of each taco: the Peruvian Chicken and the Hawaiian Tuna. These are half-size crisp tacos with unique toppings. The Peruvian Chicken is chicken marinated with Peruvian spices, and the Hawaiian Tuna contains chunks of sushi-grade raw tuna. Each choice consists of two tacos. Oh man! Once again I was wowed. All I can say in description is that the flavors were wonderful. Period. One day I'm going to try the Yakitori, and then I've got to have another burger. The only caveat is don't expect a quiet meal. Its all hard surfaces, so sound propagates.

Super fantastic!

By kkr6767 |

Loved experience there—service, food and drinks were great! Will definitely return. Yakitori, sushi rice and grouper sandwich recommended! Jody and Paris behind bar were excellent at describing and recommending items to try! Super frozen frose and mudslide with many other fun craft drink options Super fresh and flavorful

Interesting food.

By Lbs58 |

The menu has categories of selection all with somewhat exotic preparation with an Asian flavor. Items are served as ready and this was not especially conducive to a large family dinner (7 of us). First item served were chicken sliders (2) that could not be shared. Yakatori skewers were very spicy and could be shared but were last to arrive after other single dishes. Some make like this style but while it was good it did not fit with us.

Fantastic Restaurant, Great Atmosphere!

By Mary Z |

My best friend and I tried Whiskey Bird a few weeks ago. I didn't know what to expect, but I had scoped out the menu in advance. For two people, in this particular restaurant, we found that ordering one vegetable, like the Brussels Sprouts(which is enough for 2-3 people and was really tasty), and each ordering a small bite was what worked for us. My friend had the fried chicken slider, which she raved about, and I had the Yakitori Chicken Skewer, which was tender and delicious. My friend had a whiskey sour and she said it was really good. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful, we just really loved this restaurant!

Very good brunch!

By bgreenley |

This is a place to revisit because there are so many things on the menu to try! The avocado toast was great, the breakfast sandwich, yakitori and my favorite, the sweet potato and chorizo hash! I'm still thinking about that yummy combination as well as the frozen rose drink!

Great concept and great food

By Mari M |

We tried this new restaurant in the Morningside neighborhood in ATL (North Highlands Ave) today. Great concept: small plates with an Asian flair. Lots of variety with meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. Something for everyone including children. We shared the yakitori (ordered one of each) along with three sliders: butter burger, snapper, and fried chicken. My husband loved the octopus yakitori. My favorites were the meatballs, sweet potatoes, and chorizo on sweet peppers. Actually, I loved them all. Great presentation and so many different flavors. The sliders were perfect four bite wonders; I especially loved the spicy tartar sauce served with the snapper and hubs really enjoyed the little pickles on his fried chicken slider. The hostess promptly seated us and our server, Shannon, brought drink refills without having to be asked. Seating was comfortable, noise level was acceptable, and the owner (running expo front of house) stopped by to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Though it's a bit of a drive, we'll be back and highly recommend this gem!

We all had an excellent meal

Very good food and service. I had the Korean rice cakes which was outstanding. Almost like ramen with really rich broth which I wasn’t expecting but turned out to be great! Highly recommend Whiskey Bird.

Plenty of fresh and healthy options

By Elyse M |

We started with the chorizo sweet potato hash which was very yummy! We got the chopped salad which was also great! This salad has a unique flavor due to containing mint leaves but it had just the right amount to not be overpowering. We got the ahi tuna tacos and the peruvian chicken tacos which were excellent! The menu had a lot of healthy light options but also had heartier options if that is your preference. I would certainly recommend this place !

Great, unusual brunch

By Saye506 |

There are plenty of great brunch spots in Atlanta. The problem is that many places don't take reservations for brunch, and they fill up quickly. My wife and I went to Murphy's recently and were told that the wait for a table was almost 2 hours! We drove around and finally took a chance with Whisky Bird, where we had only been to once, and just for one of their amazing cocktails. Check out their brunch menu! It is unique. There are a few brunch standards, but most of the dishes are these odd and tasty American-Asian "fusion" plates. You can get a big plate or do what I did and do three or four small plates. I had the charred octopus yakitori (with a sweet and spicy sausage), the spicy chicken yakitori, and some spicy clams. The yakitori menu changes. My wife had a poached egg on a HUGE salad of charred, shredded Brussel sprouts with apples, nuts, and a vinaigrette. A couple of great Bloody Marys. We were satistifed without feeling over-fed. Reservations recommended, although seating at the bar is first come-first served and you get a great view of the kitchen. Local laws prevent (for now) serving alcohol before 12:30 on Sunday, but Whiskey Bird does brunch on Saturday, as well, when this rule does not apply.

much better than expected

By LDWG |

Usually, I run away from "fusion" as often the results are awful; this place throws some interesting twists on its food but carries it off rather well. The brunch offerings were quite varied, so I would unhesitatingly recommend coming here on a Sunday. They could use a consult with a beer aficionado, and expand their offerings in this category. Everyone enjoyed the food. A bit noisy, though, for easy conversation.

Eclectic menu, tapas style

By Drdistance |

Good food with vegan options. Tapas style place so good to order a bunch of things and share. Cool vibe.

Great add to the neighborhood

By Michaela S |

We are local so tested this new place to see if we can find a new neighborhood gem. Loved it - went out with bunch of friends who are vegetarians and great tapas options for all. The sprouts were awesome. Great service, highly recommend - another neighborhood gem. Hope it stays around - good asian fusion kind of mix with small plates.

Exciting eats

By DadMD |

A short ride from downtown this is worth the trip. The food is exceptional with an Asian twist on American dishes. The cocktails are creative and luscious and the wines by the glass or bottle are great and of good value. The eggplant was the best I’ve had anywhere except China. The crispy brussels are out of this world with or without bacon. Prices are very reasonable and the service is perfect.

Good service, noisy layout, decent food

By Cruto |

Generous portions, polite and unobtrusive service. The place is also suitable for private events/parties (there was one happening during my visit). However, due to the layout, it is quite noisy, so you need to raise your voice to have a conversation at the table. The decor is nice. The food is decent, but not particularly impressive. Prices perhaps a bit high

All around, a great experience!

By Ton A |

We were staying in the area and asked our host for a dinner recommendation. She was emphatic. The name sounded odd and it was a small place that didn't look like much from the outside. As we were seated on the back deck, we realized the place was bigger than we thought. Our server was terrific and was helpful with the wine list. We ended up have several appetizers and a bottle of wine. Everything was flavorful and presented beautifully and such a great value. Best dinner of our stay.

Wow, what a find!

By Melissa F |

Ate here last night. Love that Atlanta has such a really great tapas restaurant. The starters are very small and sharing is fun but you need to order enough if you are pretty hungry. The Greens and Twos on the menu are considerably larger depending on how hungry you are. We had Yakitori’s: Sticky Chicken, Sweet Potato, and Chimichurri., and the Hawaiian Taco. For the mains we shared the Shaved Brussel Sprouts and each of us ordered the Sesame Crusted Ahi Tuna.. We were full. We will go back very soon. This is a pretty loud music and very casual, kid friendly place. Bill for all this food was $60 with out tax. Chef is formerly from Iberian Pig.

Nestled in the Virginia Highlands restaurant district this restaurant is a rare find, try the sliders and tacos. You can’t go wrong here.
