Great City Market

By snorkler09 |

My daughter brought me by the New Wholefoods, it was amazing. With several small area dedicated to "restaurant" experiences and a pub. On top of that they had the BEST soft pretzels in Philly. Stopped by several times during my stay.

Grocery Store

By Thomas V |

This is just a high-end grocery store. They do have lots of prepared foods and a small place to sit and eat, but it's a grocery store.

All you can eat....and more

By tenpagesaday |

This is a phenomenal market. It's got every kind of food ingredient you could possibly want. The produce is gorgeous and always tastes great. Fruits and veggies are beautifully displayed. The one thing I don't like is the feeling that they jammed too many aisles into the layout at weird angles. This place is always crowded and there just isn't enough room to navigate with a big cart. Although Whole Foods is known for its groceries and baked goods, this new version has multiple restaurants and a brew pub. It's much larger than the old store but you'd never guess that because the layout of the store makes you feel like you're in a perpetual traffic jam. Food options are infinite and prices are high, so think before you splurge.

Utter Disappointment - and I expected good flavor!

By Greg S |

Wanting to eat light, I ordered 3 different portions of: tuna salad, egg salad, and chicken salad. What a disaster! The tuna salad was barely acceptable to the palate but watery with a thin taste. The egg salad was simply hard, clumpy, and thoroughly without taste. The chicken salad had protein, but not much more. Range chickens might work for other foods, but not here.

Locals & Travelers Alike

By Andrew |

Great Whole Foods with the typical grocery goods. Excellent hot bar and stations with plenty of available seating. There is even a Philly Cheesesteak Station. Highly recommend for travelers looking to cut the costs of restaurants and/or want to keep it healthy.

Great Variety

I had ramen noodles (vegetable) which were delicious. My wife dined on a fat sandwich with falafel and vegetables. The food was fresh and tasty. We had a fine lunch.

I want to live in this store!!!

By Beatrice Predescu |

If you're staying in Philly for more than a couple of days, this is the right place for all of your groceries. A bit pricey but worth every penny!! I'm not a beer fan but I felt in love with "DirtyBastard"

Really cool!!

By Lisa H |

I actually went when they were located near the Barnes Foundation but I understand they even expanded!! Unbelievable!!! LOVE it! After my experience there, I not only bought the company's stock BUT I found the one we have in Charlotte, NC. which is not as impressive as the Philadelphia version but I believe in their concept. Last time I went I just ate in the café and spent about 2 more hours shopping. They don't only have groceries but makeup, candles, etc. etc.

Local goods

By Autumn M |

This Is a great place to shop for local goods. There are a few places to eat inside. You can local beer and coffee.

Good selection of prepared foods

By JoanofArt |

We went to Whole Foods because we were tired of eating at restaurants. We found a very good selection of prepared foods, they had a salad bar as well as a hot bar. Everything looked clean and fresh. We could also have had food at some of their restaurant style booths, and may try those on another trip.

Fantastic City respite

By aim19862016 |

What you have to understand is that Whole Foods tailors their stores to the physical location and limitations of the location. This particular store is tucked into a very urban setting, and does an excellent job with the footprint. We were visiting and from out of town, so it was a nice respite from walking the streets. we enjoyed the prepared foods section, sat in the expansive bar area to eat, and had a generally pleasant experience. Every one of the store employees was friendly and professional.

Really negative customer service experience

By Bill G |

Recently I came into this store to stop at the cafe for a latte and to pick up some groceries. At the cafe there was a sign that said it was 'Temporarily Closed'. A nice woman whom I think might have been from customer service said the barista might have gone to the bathroom or was on break. Fine. I offered some feedback about 'Temporarily Closed' being indeterminate (i.e. was it closed for a few minutes, hours, days, etc.). Most places like that where I have been will say something like "Be back in 10 minutes" or other. Unfortunately, some other store rep felt the need to step in. He said to me: The barista works by herself back there and isn't she allowed to go to the bathroom? I told him I was only offering feedback to make it clear what 'Temporarily' meant. He seemed to ignore what I said and repeated what he had already said. Then he said I could go across the street to Wawa and make my own coffee. I could not understand, one, why he came over to me in the first place as the customer service rep had already answered my question and was kindly listening to my feedback. Two, the employee didn't seem to care what my point was. Instead continued repeating that the attendant had a right to go to the bathroom and I could go across the street and make my own coffee.

Good Food Near The Barnes Foundation

By Traveller |

My wife, two children, mother and I ate lunch here in August 2016. My wife, two children and mother had visited the Barnes Foundation nearby and I met them there for lunch. Whole Foods is a global chain and the food is always very good. I had two slices of pizza. They also have a very good salad bar. Of course it is also a supermarket for food shopping. I would recommend eating here if you are visiting the Barnes Foundation.

Love this store

By Nata S |

Love everything about it. It is pricey but you want to invest in your health. They have everything I imagine ever wanting and needing. From fresh veggies, to ready made foods and cruelty free cosmetics.

Organic Wonderland

By 1superlady |

The costs are a tad on th he high side but generally the quality is very good. The cheese selections were great and I got a terrible fresh high grain bread that I loved. While wondering I found delicious Breton style crepes that are perfect for breakfast, lunch or dinner or even dessert. There are many options in every department from fresh fruit and vegetables to fish and meats. It is an adventure to shop there or to eat in one of the new cafes along the front of the store.

People Of Color Being Racially Profiled

By Bishop D |

I feel as though I am being racially profiled as a young black man and I feel very uncomfortable and disrespected when I've been a customer at this location for well over five years spending thousands of dollars of my hard earned money even before Amazon bought it out and made all of the changes... and it seems as though it's just getting worse. On multiple occasions I've been followed around the store and in the parking lot in a way they try to make it unnoticeable for no good reason. I've spent well over $10,000 there, yet they have undercover security guards stopping me in the middle of my shopping experiences to ask if I'm walking to the register when that is none of their business. Even jetting into the restroom to catch me walking out talking on my cellphone which literally happened yesterday(1/18/2022) and was essentially the only reason I stopped at Whole Foods at the time. In-between my deliveries on the Uber Eats app I parked my car in the parking lot, and went directly to the restroom and to my surprise I see a security guard acting as if he was checking the restroom as I was leaving out. I am so tired and furious of this and I want them to take action for how they make people of color feel when we are at the location. It's putting me in a position where I want to stop spending my money there and take further action. Let's not forget to mention yesterday(1/18/2022) I was informed they have done this to multiple people of color I know. One of them being a wealthy inspirational influencer that caught the attention of Whole Foods owner Jeff Bezos who traveled to this specific location to have a talk with the management and employees about the incident after a social media post was made. I use to enjoy stopping by and grabbing lunch and snacks sitting down and taking breaks here when I spent time training at the skatepark across the street, but now I have this grudge towards this specific location because I always feel like I'm being watched, followed, or crept up on and I really do not want to go back.

Great healthy options

By ambera1844 |

Recently just started my alkaline diet/cleanse . They have alot of options . Spelt flour & alot of organic options. Friendly & helpful staff also.

Great place to plan your dinner/meal for your visit.

By TheChiefFromCali |

My wife and are staying in a row house in Grays Ferry area. We landed here and found a market on Tenth and South Street. We walked over to it and found it to be full of great choices. We planned out our dinning to be at home and found all the right menu items. There is a beer and wine section.

Stopped in specifically for Federal Donuts

By Kelli |

We came here specifically to get breakfast from Federal Donuts. The hot donuts are melt-in-your-mouth delicious! The other varieties are overly sweet and very dense. FYI - they do not sell any beverages at this donut location, but we were able to grab some from the Whole Foods store itself. I’m not a big fan of cake style donuts, but these were pretty good!

Recognize the union Jeff

By Kimm T |

have been shopping at this store for many many years. The workers recently voted to unionize. Jeff Bezos says he won't recognize the union. Therefore I will no longer be doing business with this or any other Whole Foods store.

great place for lunch

By ERSK1988 |

Easy place for self serve lunch. Great soups and salads. And free parking. Did some grocery shopping after eating too.

Lovely place but quite pricey

By antenna5 |

We have visited whole foods many times and it is amazing. We ate in there from the buffet which was lovely and the bill for 4 people without drinks was $70. If you want good quality food at a price it’s a great place.

Many reasonable food choices

By Nick C |

We really enjoyed our trip to this brand new Whole Foods and were especially impressed with the variety of food options. Didn't like the layout of the groceries as it was difficult to find some things.

In and Out Quickly

By Thomas V |

We were happy with the food products we bought here for our breakfast in our hotel room while we were in town visiting with friends. It fit all of our needs and we got out quickly.

Location and variety

By Nora E |

When visiting a city in united states, I try to stick to whole food for my daily grocery shopping . This store is located in a perfect location , the view downstairs from the coffee shop is facing the museum and not far from the art museum or as they call it rocky steps. You can get lost in a good way inside , so much to see and try. Only thing that was inconvenient is the coffee shop is located downstairs so if you want a bakery item and coffee ... you would have to get your coffee first then head upstairs for your baking goods . Although they do offer some at the coffee spot, it wasn't what I wanted. Oh and try the vegan doughnuts!!.

It s amazing market with organic products

By jhnkef |

The best market for natural organic products. It s a little expensive for daily shopping. I suggest this market

Break for lunch when at Barnes

By Harmonicaharold |

One can't possibly see everything at the Barnes without a break, so we walked over to Whole Foods where the 2nd floor had many different fresh & cooked food options. We chose sushi and enjoyed freshly made rolls and Japanese beverages for $30 while overlooking the park. Then back to the Barnes fully refreshed for an amazing day.

Blown Away by This WF

By Hal J |

This Whole Foods has got to be one of the newest and biggest. (During a 30 minute stop, I thought I was in California.) -- However, this Whole Foods seemed even mo' better. Certainly the salad bar set up was THE BEST salad bar offering - most appetizing and extensive, that I'd seen in a grocery store. And, the staff was amazingly helpful and cheerfully chatty. The Allegro Coffee Bar downstairs is most modern and the barista there makes a friendly but "mean" espresso mojito as well as a deliciously creamy and hot flat white. Viva Whole Foods in Philly!

I wish I lived nearby!

By Heather S |

What a great place! Get your grocery shopping done (with fantastic options) and have a great meal and your favorite drink?! Yes, please. Parking was easy and we really had a great time in a grocery store!

Fantastic food

By dennis fontana |

In a city that we do not know, you cannot go wrong. Come here to buy your healthy food or to eat something on the go at the bar. Personnel very helpful, quality of food exceptional.

Best prepared food section of any Whole Foods

By John M |

I wish my local WF had the selection and freshness of prepared food the this location does. Hot and cold food alike were better made, with a larger variety that I've seen elsewhere. Nice work, Philly!

A wonderful selection and place to relax.

By Harmonicaharold |

Our last visit was in 2019 in the middle of visiting Barnes and the sushi is still amazing fresh and tasty. We love the selection and enjoyed sitting comfortably opposite the huge panoramic window looking out onto the park. There were also other food options so we took home fresh hummus and other special items not found in regular stores.

A great city market option.

By mcdedrick |

This place packs them in. And for good reason. There’s a little bit of everything here. Specialty coffee, doughnuts, lots of prepared meals and sushi all up in the second level. Coffee and cocktails down on ground level! Would be a perfect Whole Foods except that it was so busy and things were getting a bit dirty in the eating areas. Other than that it was certainly an adventure.

One of the best!

By BKandCB |

I've been to many Whole Foods stores, and this one is beyond amazing in terms of size and what they offer customers. In addition to a great selection of produce, meat, groceries etc., their prepared foods and restaurants are hard to beat. We ate a great lunch there and then did take out for dinner; it was all fresh, tasty and well worth the prices they charged. Very impressive operation.

A little pricey, but good quality

By Mike B |

I visited to see what the fuss was about. Definately a notch above Trader Joes since it has so many prepared foods. Don't go hungry!

WOW. The new, expanded Whole Foods is fabulous...even on a busy Saturday afternoon.

By Susan S |

We went to the new Whole Food just to "take a look" but came away with two bags full. The eating area is lovely and clean. the choices are wide and wonderful. they have three sections of salad bar set up with hot foods (like brisket and pulled bbQ chicken) salad stuff with lots and lots of fresh vegetables, and a large section of side dishes like roasted vegetables. Broad array of salad dressing and nice rolls...and that is just the salad bar area. They also have fresh hot pizza and much more. So you can eat and buy groceries all in one place...And we can get there using public transportation. But they do have free parking too.

Overwhelming but they've got it all

By Danielle S |

Largest Whole Foods I've ever shopped at. They have dine in eating and drinking- yes a bar - with comfy seating both inside and out. There is a cafe with top notch service and a juicer. High quality produce and so much selection. You want an obscure brand they probably have it. A lot of people shop here so your item may be out of stock. Best to shop at night in the beginning of the week.

Good Whole Foods

By ErikaDuenas |

This whole foods has so many restaurants! There's cocktail cart and a coffee bar! I was in heaven! Definitely a must-see if you're in the Philly area!

Beautiful Whole foods

By Slythe777 |

This particular Whole Foods Market is really well laid out. Superb selections of takeout available and very convenient area.

Great cafe

By jer b |

Philadelphia was so hot when we visited and we just needed something to drink and a snack after touring the Barnes for three hours. This WF cafe was just the answer. Super friendly, well trained staff who were great to talk to as they prepared our ice teas using a state of the art extractor/brewer. Great scones. Nice seating area with a nice view and stations for charging our phones. Just a perfect spot to relax, refresh and recharge.

Fun place to shop!

By jms1818 |

If you're looking to get good fresh food, whether organic or not organic at a high price, this place is for you! I enjoyed walking around but I was getting sticker shock on most of their products. Although to be fair, they did have decent prices on some things. The prepared food was lovely looking, the bread looked amazing, and they had a brick oven to make pizzas, but their baked goods were really expensive...i.e., cookies $11.99/lb. One small cookie cost me $.96 cents. I'll definitely go back to get a loaf of one of thier lovely breads, or maybe the pizza... or I hear they have wonderful breakfast buffet with steal cut oatmeal I'd like to try, but for most of my shopping I'll stick with Wegman's, Trader Joe's or Aldi's, which carry just as much as Whole Foods but a better prices.

Special supermarket

By Steven M |

Overall very good supermarket complete with several well known and excellent concessions as well as a large bar area serving well priced drinks. Nice takeout wines and beers too. Prepared foods for in-house and take out consumption are the weakest part of the store - Mediocre food with little variety day to day. A flight of steps at the entrance is very ill conceived although there is one elevator.

Usual great spot

By danibrig |

Great market, much as all other Whole Foods. There is a great coffee shop at the ground level that we really enjoyed. We purchased some breakfast items at Whole Foods and then lounged around at their tables with some coffee. Offers a really great view of Benjamin Franklin Parkway since the ground level is all windows. Definitely a good spot!

What a place!

By christinert |

This is the most amazing food shop I have ever visited. There are foods from all over the world, and every ‘healthy option’ known to man. You can fill a sectioned tray with delicious fresh food to take home or eat there. There is also a great little bar where you can sample one of the many many craft beers which are on offer. One point- you can only buy wine or beer at the till by the bar, not as part of the rest of your shopping.
