Too Big Too Busy

By Karen C |

We picked Wild Ginger after seeing all the great reviews but were terribly disappointed. We had dinner for 2 at 8pm on Saturday night. We had black pepper scallops, shaking beef, BOK choy, and jasmine rice which were pretty good but not exceptional. The service sucked and our waiter was inattentive, he forgot to order the appetizer and didn’t check on us to see if we needed anything. He was in a hurry and set things down and was off. This was definitely not a fine dining experience. Don’t waste your time or money. Go to Locosho, superb service, fabulous food and they appreciate your business.

Very good Asia dishes

By Johann S |

Very good, authentic Asian dishes from different countries. We had Malaysian satay skewers, Indonesian beef and Mongolian noodles with shrimp.

A Family Tradition Since 1993

By RH0s |

My wife and I have been going to the Wild Ginger since it was a tiny little place on Western Avenue at the base of Pike Place Market. That first evening we had two of their now-classic dishes, Seven Flavor Beef and the Fragrant Duck. On this visit, I took our youngest daughter for her first experience. We had the same main dishes and tacked on some chicken wings and vegetarian spring rolls. It's good to know more than 25 years later that Wild Ginger is still serving up great food with good, attentive service. Thanks also to the front-of-house team for finding us a nice table on a busy evening when we didn't have reservations.

Service and ambiance great, menu ok

By cyborys |

Given all the rave reviews—and appearance of Wild Ginger on just about every “Best List” for Seattle dining, I expected a knock-out dining experience, especially given the pricing for dinner. While portions were goodly sized, and presentations delightful, the dishes (two of us sampled four) were missing a “je-ne-sais-quoi” that makes for an unforgettable meal. All good but nothing memorable. If you’re looking for an authentic Asian tasting, look elsewhere

PLEASURES OF "WILD GINGER," SEATTLE

By JNFischman |

We enjoyed Dinner here 2 nights out of a 3-night vacation as the dishes here were so lip-smackingly delicious. One of us is a Foodie & Gourmet Cook, so the expectations were very high. We enjoyed the Lettuce Cups with shredded Sea Bass, although they were quite tart, the "Nonya," the absolutely delicious Mixed-Seafood Noodles, & the Sago Coconut dessert which was a nice combination of textures. This retaurant is a must to visit if in downtown Seattle!

Disappointed

By Eric S |

Was really disappointed. Read several reviews and decided this was the must eat at Thai place. We ordered the tuna, and it was quality tuna, no issues there, but the flavor and texture of the dish just wasn't good. We never leave tuna uneaten and we didn't want to finish it. The phad thai was also underwhelming. The portion size was big enough ti share. Sadly, we won't return and left with over $100 bill for only a few items. Only reason we didn't give a 1 star is the service was great and friendly.

Just average

By Gatorbuilder |

My wife an I were very excited to eat here based on all of the great reviews but were ultimately underwhelmed. The food was nothing special, it wasn't that it was "bad" it just didn't live up to the "hype". We were hoping that at least one of the dishes we ordered would be something special, but even though we ordered several dishes nothing really stood out. The duck was dry and had no flavor, the string beans were on par with PF Changs, the mushrooms were good but not spectacular, etc. Then there was the simple basic restaurant stuff .... like offering black napkins instead of white (we were both wearing black pants), we wanted bottled (still) water but they were "out" (we ate at 6:00 pm btw) and my wife's tea had loose leaves which the pot didn't strain. These last few things are just notes and had no impact on my rating of the food.

Fantastic dishes and great attention to detail

By ChefLadyKatie |

Had a quick lunch date and it was worth it!!! We will definitely add this restaurant to the must have Franklin eateries! YUM! R2D2 Roll and Tokyo Gyoza are pictured!

Love this place

By FERNANDO A |

I have been lucky enough to come several times in different years, and always the experience has been extraordinary, I do not fail to recommend the Duck, and the cod, the attention is extraordinary, and the Mood is unbeatable

So good!!

By lea676 |

We decided to book a fairly last minute reservation on a Sunday night, and I’m so glad we did. We enjoyed the Thai Spring Rolls to start and shared the duck, the 7 Flavor Beef with rice, and the Bok Choy. The duck and steam buns were amazing!!! And the 7 Flavor Beef was also incredible. Our server was great and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere, but we able to wear our casual attire we were in from the baseball game earlier in the day.

Výborně pad thai kai

By Pavel Rak |

Great Pad Thai Kai. Service was perfect. Unbelievable homemade pasta from garlic, peppers, chili. Kind of like sombal.

SE Asian fusion menu with good authenticity and presentation

By Dean S |

We have lived in SE Asia and the food had authentic taste and seasoning with a good variety of dishes. The spiciness is toned down from what one would find in Lao or Thailand to meet the USA palate I presume. Interesting that they added chopsticks which aren't used all that much in SE Asia. Service was friendly and prompt. Our meal was late lunch so not crowded, but at certain times it can be packed with people. Price is not cheap, but quite acceptable for downtown Seattle.

Stick to the Satay

By dangerousd2018 |

Satay is great, everything else was mediocre for too much money (Bellevue location). Probably better location for parking than downtown. DO NOT go to the Bellevue art museum near by, worst rip off ever for an art museum.

Uneven service

By Bill S |

My first visit to this large two level restaurant. We had reservations and were quickly seated at a table on the top level on the rail, as requested. Good start. Water and menus came quickly. Then came the first of multiple long waits. After more than 10 minutes, a server showed up wanting to take orders for drinks and food. This is not an inexpensive place, but I felt like we were at Bob Evan's. We ordered cocktails only. Good thing because it took about 15 minutes for the drinks to arrive. I'm sure the food would have been served before the drinks were. Only then did we order an appetizer, again resisting the server's encouragement to order our entire meal. Not knowing the portion sizes, we wanted to wait before ordering another dish. The portions are generous, so we decided to split another appetizer instead of a main course. Another 15 minute wait. The restaurant was only about half full so the kitchen delay made no sense. Food and presentation was good. Timing needs a lot of work.

Great food but...

By rschiller |

This place was recommended to us and we stopped here for an early dinner during our short trip to Seattle. The food was really terrific. I had the Seven Flavor Beef and my wife had the Chicken Pad Thai. It wasn't that expensive either. Our waiter (forget his name, had a beard and worked at the bar) was friendly and accommodating. However...when we got there, we were relieved to see that the place was not crowded. I'd say maybe 10% of the tables were filled. The hostess though said that we would have to sit in the bar area because no table was available. Huh?? The view from my table also overlooked a messy desk area. Not the best. During our dinner, we expected to see an influx of guests since we were not allowed to sit at a "real" table but by the time we left, maybe 30% of the tables were taken. Again, excellent food but a really strange way to treat customers.

Tasty and interesting food

By travels_ahoy |

Went with my husband for dinner and had the lamp chops and mongolian noodles, All the food was tasty, but the portions were huge - we could have easily fed an extra person with our 2 dishes!

Very good but expensive.

By Coeurdopale |

We dined in a large room , a little noisy because many groups dine here. The dishes are very hearty and we shared a starter (excellent nems) and a dish (green curry chicken) at 2. Friendly waiter unlike the one who brought the dishes. In all we got for 53 dollars + tip for a starter, a dish and a San pellegrino, so pretty expensive anyway. They should make a corner room for couples because it feels a little factory.

Give it a miss. Disappointing

By 342rdm |

This is a place for people who haven’t ever had Asian food before and don’t know any better. A shame! When WG opened it was innovative and known for its fusion cuisine. We hadn’t been for years and walking by decided to give it a try. Wish we hadn’t. The Mongolian Noodles tasted mostly of cornstarch and chile, muddy flavor and sticky. Chicken sate was bland and the peanut sauce not up to corner Thai restaurant level. The curry tasted of coconut milk but not much else, and the vegetables were overcooked. Lots of large work parties of non-Asian people drinking heavily and making a lot of noise. Give it a miss and take an Uber to the ID or try Din Tai Fung or Vivienne’s. if you want to stay in the area.

Good meal

By BoardingPass631103 |

I dined here with my family on a Friday evening. It’s been years since I dined here (I lived in Seattle long ago) so when we were in town I thought we’d give it a shot. Overall, the experience was nice. I have three children (12, 12, 9) and they enjoyed the meal and the service was great. They were accommodating to my children which always make me feel more comfortable. I found the food to be very good, but not as amazing as I recall it from years ago. We had duck (with some buns) , skewers, and the seven flavor (?) beef, among other dishes. All good - beef dish good but a bit on the salty side. It’s a little bit on the pricey side so when balancing with the value I decided to give it 4 out of 5 stars. I found the cocktails to be small, way too full of ice, and not that good. I also want to mention that right outside the restaurant there is usually one or a couple of homeless people (right outside the door) which does make me feel uncomfortable with my children (as they don’t really mind their own business if you know what I’m saying). I recognize this isn’t abnormal for downtown Seattle, but it would make me think twice about going here again. I realize this is somewhat outside the control of the restaurant’s management team - but it is what it is.

Superb Asian Meal

By Trish H |

Excellent service, excellent food, every item served elegantly. It was so nice to eat there. BUT beware this is on 3rd Ave and you have to watch the dead beat homeless in the street and hold on to your puruses. We had two very large men with us and so no one bothered us. But if you are a single lady, do not go without someone BIG to walk you there.

Great food

By cruiseagentandtaxman |

We wanted a nice asian dinner and the hotel concierge recommended Wild Ginger. Very nice venu - and they have apparently been around a long time. Despite the time in grade, the venu was clean, modern and attractive. The food was superb. Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian orientation. Every sinlge dish was delicious. The service was a bit disappointing - our waiter was just not very attentive. But we had time and made do just fine. We recommend it.

It's as though we ate at a different restaurant than other reviewers!

By Ann D |

Used to the many wondrous sources of food available in the Northwest we ventured to Wild Ginger, pre-theater, after not going there for some time. Our waiter had missed the daily check in for staff and gave us "yesterdays" specials as a start and though he attempted to make up for that, the service was rushed. We were a foursome. Lettuce cup appetizer was tasty as was a salad two of us chose. For main course two of us chose the black cod special ( spendy - but a rare treat) ... we received a piece of fish on a place, a few sprinkles of garlic on top and two ratty pieces of the white end of scallions! No vegetable though we'd been told it came on a bed of steamed asparagus ( that was "yesterday's special"). The fish was good, but not outstanding. The steak dish one of us chose had a tasty sauce but the steak was really tough and chewy. The fourth member had coconut prawns which were also tasty but super greasy. Desert of coconut gelato was good and the couple who shared a chocolate torte, covered with cream, enjoyed it. Thinking that watching all the gorgeous young high school graduates in elegant gowns was the highlight of the evening ... not the food. We'll be heading back to other favorite eating haunts.

7 flavors beef for the win!

By MCH65 |

We asked the hotel for a few recommendations for dinner and were looking for something more moderately priced than a lot of the seafood places, but not fast food. The hotel staff at the W suggested the Wild Ginger, It was a short walk and we were able to get right in. We had an amazing waiter, Alexander. He suggested several things and crispy prawns and seven flavors beef were amazing, especially the beef.

Downtown location

By krisgils33 |

Conveniently located downtown, this restaurant doesn’t disappoint. The food is amazing. Our waiter Nick was unbelievably fantastic. I also really liked the high back booths that give your party a modicum of privacy.

Excellent and unique food

By ari405 |

The restaurant is in a nicely renovated space in an old and somewhat rundown part of the city. The food was excellent and relatively unique. The Pad Thai was special–different from many others we've had. The monk curry was also very good. They were quite busy when we were there, so that probably contributed to their bringing egg rolls when we ordered spring rolls and bringing my rice well after the dish that it goes with, but these were very minor problems. The prices were a little on the high side relative to comparable restaurants.

Among the best food I've eaten

By Priscilla B |

Friends took us here before a concert next door and we were bowled over. This is simply a wonderful restaurant. The staff were superb, willing to give us all the time we needed to choose the right dishes for us, then we tucked in to them with increasing delight and amazement at the brilliant tastes. It was so good, we went back on our own for a second round another night and that was just as good! Go for duck, dumplings, skewers and pad thai. Just remember that this is not cheap, hard to find because it hardly advertises itself in the street and there may be harmless homeless outside.

Weekday lunch hits the mark

By travelequalsbliss |

Met a friend visiting from out of town here for lunch. Service was efficient as far as seating, ordering, and receiving our food. Try the potstickers!

Consistently very good

By SunnyandBuster |

The Wild Ginger has become a Seattle institution with an incredible and varied menu of South East Asian inspired dishes. It is the perfect location to dine at prior to a concert at Benaroya Hall. The service was attentive and our meals were fresh and tasty. For dessert they offer gelato from the shop across the street which I highly recommend.

Great lamb chops

By Sid Maxwell |

Asian fusion that is interesting and creative. A group tried about 10 dishes all of which were very good. The lamb chops were trul fabulous however as was the fast, helpful and very friendly service. It’s a bit noisy but it’s fun and really delicious.

New Years Eve Dinner

Wild Ginger is one of my favorite restaurants. As usual, Wild Ginger didn't disappoint. The food was fantastic, service over the top and atmosphere was just right!

A Plus Food and Service

By fernh |

We stayed in Seattle for one night before our Alaska cruise. We were desperate for a good dinner that we could share. We found Wild Ginger and were blown away by everything. We were there around 5pm on a Monday evening. We were seated immediately and were really well taken care of by our server. I wish I could remember his name. We didn't want to eat too much so we had the pad thai with shrimp. I've had pad thai in many many places but this was the best I ever had. I still think about it. The service, the food, everything was first rate. If I ever come back to Seattle, this is the first place I will visit.

Birthday dinner

By Michelle A |

Husband, two sons, and I came here for a birthday dinner. Parking was okay downtown Seattle. Restaurant was clean. For drinks, I had a mango mojito and a ginger martini, two guys had Saporo, and one guy had spicy mango soda. We had the kobe beef appetizers. One son had laksa soup - a sea food soup. One son had Mongolian noodles with flank steak. Husband ordered Hanoi tuna. I ordered green curry chicken. All meals were delicious. Three desserts: raspberry sorbet mixed with vanilla ice cream, chocolate torte with homemade whip with orange and coconut cake with berries. All delicious! Service was awesome!

Restaurant Week Disappointment

By Ron D |

This was a RW dinner we were really looking forward to as WG has been one of our favorite restaurants. Sadly, we came away majorly disappointed and concluded that WG may not care about RW customers. Here are our reasons: Despite cold weather outside and the restaurant being almost empty, we were taken to the coldest table in the entire restaurant, close to the door, and had to ask to be moved to a different table. The Duck Bumbu Satay appetizer that both of us ordered was acceptable but served without any dipping sauce. For the main course we both ordered The Beef Rendang Curry which came with white rice and pickled vegetables. The dish was served luke-warm instead of hot, the meat was dry; in this case coming with only about a tablespoon of sauce – not enough by far and, although there were a few nice chunks of meat on my plate, my wife’s plate had less meat and no chunks, just shredded meat and gristle which looked like dregs scraped from the bottom of the cooking pot. The Malay Cake desert we both felt was plain and bland. What made our dinner bearable were the cocktails of the main menu (not included in the dinner price) and our two great waiters. Thank you to John and Alex! We gave the restaurant two stars for food and value, as this quality of food one might experience in just such an establishment. This dinner was not worth our time and money spent and frankly it discourages us from coming back.

Excellent

By Rodney220 |

Lamb and Duck were perfect. Thanks Ronald! Reservations are recommended but we sat at the bar. Our visit was superb

Eat here!

By CharlieW |

We had a wonderful meal at Wild Ginger during a trip to Seattle. The restaurant is very large with modern decor. The staff were all extremely helpful and welcoming and never hesitated to answer questions and offer recommendations. They recommend you get a couple of appetizers and then a couple of entrees to share ‘family style’. We ordered the Malay chicken, Thai spring rolls and Mongolian noodles; everything was served hot and quickly, but was obviously made with care. All of our selections were delicious! Our meal was just over $100 CAD for two adults, but the price was fair for the quality and quantity of food. They do offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Ambiance, service and food were all fantastic and we’d recommend to eat here!

Good food

By AdeMSurrey |

Dropped in on the off chance early Friday evening on a recent visit for the NFL, the place was very quiet got shown to a table and were greeted by the bar staff they recommended a couple of dishes chicken satay and spring rolls to start followed by pad Thai all of which was excellent, the bill was reasonable and all the staff we spoke to were friendly and courteous. Would recommend and will return when in Seattle again

Lots to share and enjoy

By BarryandJackie |

An interesting menu with lots of choices and mostly all intended to be shared family style. Big place and service was good, and food was served when it was hot and ready.

Great Food

By Lisa G |

Food was awesome, Malaysian / asian vibe. Serve great. We are actually talking about coming back. Online booking easy.😃

Always more than satisfying

By Trup |

As usual when I have visited Wild Ginger I order one of their specialties -- their crispy duck. A must in my view! Also enjoyed the Mongolian noodles. I did not care for the curry chicken but my friends liked it a lot.

Outstanding fusion restaurant

By dustythoughts |

I took family here when they were visiting from out of town, and we all loved this place, even my mom, who loves Asian fusion food and is picky about it. The fragrant duck (a house specialty) is superb and tender, and the chicken potstickers and Mongolian noodles are also amazing. The service was impeccable and decor is trendy without being offsetting.

Perfect for quick drinks

By Anastasia S |

We were limited on time and stopped by for drinks after symphony (after 9 PM), had a ginger martini (lovely) and another cocktail, name of which alludes me, but it had coconut in it, and was very refreshing, and shared a chicken satay, which was do die for (we regretted sharing it)). Service was quick and server was friendly, check was affordable (we got more for our money than at a nearby "Frolic"), and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would definitely recommend it for the same scenario. We stopped by one time before though, but that would have been after 9 PM, and their kitchen was closed and everybody was acting like we were crazy for thinking about eating anywhere at that hour. So, come at the right time, would be my suggestion.

Iconic restaurant

By Marie B |

Wild Ginger is one of the few restaurants that have been part of Seattle’s astonishing growth over the past 20 years. Always consistent on quality and service, I wanted to enjoy it during its big anniversary year. The space looks the same, the host stand feels just as welcoming, the food is as good, but service was not. Some menu items have been taken off the menu but are still available if asked. I don’t know if our waitress was having a bad day, but she certainly did not make us feel welcome. With barely a check-in and a whispered “Thank you,” so quiet my dining companion couldn’t hear it, this felt like such a departure from all things Wild Ginger. It was disappointing to walk away wondering if I’d come back.

Great Dinner!

By Glory Marshall |

We were staying in downtown Seattle, and my boyfriend found Wild Ginger. What a find! The food was delicious - I had the Thai Passion Tofu with a side of brown rice, and he had the Thai Seafood Noodles. The ambience was lovely, as was the service. Highly recommend!

Duck, Duck, Bun!

By Rome |

My girlfriend and I came here under the recommendation of our hotel staff. Great Food ✔️ Great Service ✔️ Ambiance -✔️ kinda Value - 👎 I had the fragrant duck, which to be perfectly honest was probably the best duck I’ve ever had; compliments to the chef! But with that being said, I don’t think the price of admission wasn’t really worth the experience. Service was good, and the ambiance was nice but for the price I’d expect more sizable portions unfortunately. So if you have a large appetite or if you’re price sensitive this is probably not the place for you. My GF: “The food was good, and the ambiance was nice .... until you looked outside, especially for the price we paid”

A Good Downtown Spot

By Rumples |

A friend and I were Downtown on a late weekday afternoon and decided to stop at Wild Ginger for an early dinner at 4:30 p.m. Only a few customers sat at tables, and the greeter led us to a prime spot by windows in the side dining room. I much prefer this area to the large dimly lit main dining room. Our pleasant server proved to be prompt with the menus, helpful in answering questions and attentive throughout our meal without being obtrusive. This popular Asian-fusion restaurant offers many dishes, and we found it difficult to make a selection. Finally, we settled on lobster and prawn dumpling soup, chicken potstickers and fragrant duck served with steam buns, all to share. The duck stood out for its preparation and marvelous flavor, but I would have preferred warm buns. We found the soup to be delicious with plump, tasty dumplings. The potstickers, though brimming with chicken, lacked flavor. I found a small piece of bone in one of mine and considered myself lucky to have avoided cracking a tooth. This drawback kept me from giving the restaurant a 4-bubble review. The room remained quiet throughout our stay, but many more customers arrived just before we left, which may have affected the noise level. I especially enjoyed the view of outside activity during rush hour. A vendor, selling “Real Change” newspapers, captured my attention because of his enthusiasm and obvious humor, based on the big smiles of passersby. I could not resist leaving the table briefly to buy a paper from him.

Prime location for Benaroya crowd, average food

By Zipster16 |

I've eaten at Wild Ginger many times, but the last instance was years ago when I still worked downtown Seattle. For a celebration, I was happy to introduce my now 20-something son to this taste treat before attending a Benaroya concert. Unable to get a reservation, we decided to show up at 5:15pm with the hope of being seated at a table. Although most tables in this sizable restaurant were vacant, the only options were to be seated at the lounge bar or at the satay bar. Since my son wanted to see the cooks at work, we took seats right in front of the satay grill. The menu and water promptly arrived, and our order taken without much delay while we enjoyed visiting and watching the satay chefs prepare the grill and ingredients. Wine by the glass has a choice of 5 oz or 8 oz. Although I ordered 5 oz, I believe I was served the larger portion, at least it seemed that way. That seemed nice (at first ... read on). We ordered the chicken pad thai and the seafood thai noodes. Both arrived steaming hot from the kitchen. The seafood was perfectly cooked and a compliment to the kitchen for this as it's so easy to turn shrimp, squid, scallops, mussels etc into elastic chewy bits by a minute of overcooking. Nicely done! When we left at 6:30pm, the waiting area was full with patrons waiting to be seated and a majority of the tables were occupied. But there was still room at the satay bar with no waiting. There were a few disappointments: (1) While watching the satay chefs, it seemed that there was a server who spoke harshly with them and at one point reassembled one of the plates, herself, by angrily tossing the rice cube in the trash and choosing one better to her liking from the service tray. The satay staff reacted with shrugs and smiles when they saw that we had observed this unpleasant interaction. (2) The wine list is a multi-page tome. All I wanted was a glass of an inexpensive house red which I couldn't find on the menu. The server suggested the cabernet blend. My disappointment was to discover at the time of the bill that I was served the most expensive red by the glass and it cost more than our ordered menu items. I admit "buyer beware" and perhaps should have asked to be shown this on the menu. And, maybe he didn't hear that I wanted their least expensive red (however, we were there early and the restaurant wasn't busy and relatively quiet). I'm just saying this was a disappointment. (3) Our food was served by a different person (not our black-shirted server) wearing a light colored shirt. When I asked for a bowl to place the empty mussel shells, he answered that I could share them with my companion. Huh? I repeated my question and was brought a bowl. I guess because we were there early and it's the holidays, I expected interaction with staff to be friendly. But with this person, we seemed to be a bother to him. (4) The chicken in the pad thai was dry and the tofu overcooked & dry. The "hint" of chili in the seafood thai noodles in some cases caused me to gasp for air after something hot hit the back of my palate. Although there were no visible chili in the dish (I like a medium hot but set aside the actual chili in these type dishes), apparently there were red pepper flakes hidden amongst the wide noodles. I feel it lacks creativity and suggests short cuts to use pepper flakes rather than actual peppers. Both of these dishes are better at places in Seattle's International District. It's a disappointment that after so many years in business, Wild Ginger has implemented short cuts in these two dishes which are simple to make in a more authentic way.

Original food, wine and cocktails

By johnpares1 |

Great food, great service, great cocktails, great wine list and the music wasn’t bad too. After 10 days on the road with “bar and grill” the only option this was a refreshing change. They also allowed us to take our time - we finished our cocktails before the starters arrived and only ordered our mains once we had eaten our starters. As Europeans, we like to take our time over food and there was no rush at all. (For the Americans - I’m sure they go quicker if you want 🙂)

Excellent in every way

By Bee727 |

We loved our visit to this restaurant. The food was superb and the service charming. I would recommend the Kolkata Vesper cocktail which is their version of a James Bond Martini and the Thai spring rolls were simply superb. Definitely recommended

Bring Your Family to Feast!

By kelven w |

I am getting hungry looking at these pictures. If you are in Seattle, you need to get here pronto! EVERY dish was absolutely fantastic and not surprising that the chef is a James Beard award winner. Their seven flavor beef is infused with lemongrass, peanuts, chilies, hoisin, basil, garlic and ginger. Wow! Angkor wat chicken… another masterpiece with their fantastic blend of herbs and spices. Chinese sausage and shrimp fried rice.. can’t go wrong here with that fried egg! Sayur lodeh is their Javanese vegetarian curry has just the right blend of spice. And we had their Thai seafood noodles along with chicken pad thai. Make sure you go with friends so you can sample all the dishes!

Great food, 5 star ambiance

By Rich P |

I travel to Seattle often however this was my first time to this restaurant in Jan 2020. I have only one negative thing to say but ill save that. The food was great and the wine list extensive. Service was great as well. Coming form Australia I usually question this type of cuisine in North America as our tastes can be different. I found the food to be comparable with some classics Asian fusion restaurants in Melbourne, Chin Chin, Long grain and Cookies is that helpful. The only little thing was the sommelier. I'm sure he was trying to help us choose a nice wine for dinner but i felt he was kind of elitist. This was probably not the case and perhaps this style is appreciated by the local customers. I would definitely go back. In fact i will in March.

V good

By c p |

This is a pricey place but the food and service were very good - and the entree portions are huge, you really only need one between 2!

Good food. Good service.

By Kay L |

We ate here for dinner last night and had a great experience. The food was delicious and portions are large. We had the 7 flavoured beef and the Kung Pao chicken. Our server was attentive and polite. We would recommend.

Fabulous Asian Fusion Food

By Colleen G |

Stopped by here on way back to downtown hotel cause name sounded interesting & what a Fantastic find. Waiter was great in recommending beer 🍺 after we both explained what we liked, even got to taste test first being a plus. Great service, fabulous food , very enjoyable. We ordered Mongolian Noodles & Penang Beef Curry to share & plenty of food .

Slow but very good

By Texasbirdy13 |

Enjoyed it though we were not pressed for time. Appetizer and drinks took some time but entrees delicious. Would definitely come again.

Highly recommended creative pan Asian

By ElliotinOhio |

A stylish setting. Creative pan Asian menu. We shared the tuna bruschetta bass with herbs and peanuts and Szechuan green beans. All were excellent. Appreciate the reasonably sized portions. The not so Asian chocolate mousse was a fine complement

Nice food, worth a try

By Jeei |

Wanted some light but flavorful food and found this place to catch up with a friend. Food was great, beer was awesome. Service got a bit delayed with big groups, and had to wait for beer and orders a few times, but overall was very nice

Fantastic food and service

By Barts101 |

We visited as a large group for lunch and all the food was amazing and service very attentive. Would recommend for intimate dinners and large groups alike

Expensive for lack luster food

By JudyCTrip |

We had 3 noodle dishes (one chicken 2 beef) and there were few vegetables and a minimal amount of meat for the price. Unimpressive - unlikely to order from there again.

A Welcome Return to Dining

By Judy W |

Wild Ginger was just reopening this location and it showed in our experience. We ate there twice as it is so convenient to the Symphony and we have going there for years. Both meals were excellent, as always. Our server the first night was awesome. He was experienced and went out of his way to welcome us back. The second night service was more of a struggle - wine forgotten, appetizer served with main dish, tea came too late to drink. Hopefully it was because the restaurant was more busy than our first meal and the server was new. I would allow some extra time for a meal the next month or two as the new staff learns the ropes.

Great Thai restaurant

By Sandra R |

Enjoyed a wonderful dinner of princesses prawns and chicken pad Thai, followed by great refreshing dessert of blackberry sorbet combined with vanilla ice cream. Our server David was attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend.

Kitchen is 5 star

By SeattleTravelLover1 |

Had a funny night with very uneven service. Food was spectacular as always... Waygu and lamb satay , both great. Salt pepper scallops were spectacular. Seafood pasta remarkable. Green beans were extra special. My sea bass was underwhelming. But the service, surprisingly diffident. Food a solid 5 star for sure.

Great food and service

Came here with friends for dinner as we were staying in the downtown area. We had some spring rolls as appetizers and I ordered the angkor wat chicken. Both were quite good. Service was also friendly and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere in general. Would recommend coming here.

Amazing restaurant in Seattle and a must to visit.

By BarrySueDay |

The Wild Ginger restaurant was highly recommended to us. We were very impressed with the design and atmosphere of the restaurant on our arrival. The service was first class and the food amazing. We saw that the meal sizes were large. We ordered the restaurant’s classic dish Seven Flavor Steak dish accompanied by the Chinese Sausage & Shrimp Rice. Wow! We highly recommend this restaurant when in Seattle. Marvellous. Alex was our waiter and he made us feel very welcome with his professional service and personality. Try this one.

Yum

Delicious. We expanded and had the traditional fragrant duck with steamed buns - oh soo good. We also tried the Sea Bass Cha Cha - really outstanding We will definitely be back on our next trip to Seattle

Amazingly Delicious Food

By samuels5731 |

The food here is totally amazing. The 4 of us shared 2 appetizers (spring rolls and mussels) and then shared our 4 main courses. Each dish was totally delicious, and I had hoped there would be left overs for my lunch the next day, but no, not a chance. We gobbled everything up, it was soooo yummy. Our waiter was excellent, and made great recommendations for our wines. I just wish I could remember what wine I ordered, it was very good. The ambience is great, although it is a large crowded room, the nose level was totally acceptable, and we were able to converse freely without shouting at each other. This restaurant is definitely a winner!

Solid experience.

By Craig S |

Solid experience. I stopped in here on a business trip to Seattle. I was by myself and it was pretty busy, so i opted to sit at the bar. It took a while to get service, but not an unreasonably long time, especially given how busy they were. The Seven Flavor Beef was excellent. Tender and flavorful with an unusual mix of spices that really popped. Also ordered a mango mojito that was ok...a little on the bland side but otherwise fine.

Delicious food and nice ambiance.

By Oakislandgirl |

We probably picked a crazy night and had reservations, seems like our server was too busy. Our food was very good, one in our group got the Sea Bass and was in heaven! Def will return.

Great happy hour

By Sara S |

We tasted as many hh appetizers as possible and they were all so delicious! I especially liked the spring roll, pad Thai (huge portion), and pot stickers.

Appalling Service.

By bookyd |

We ate in the upstairs area as downstairs had no vacancies. Right from the beginning, we were completely ignored. We waited ten minutes for a menu - several servers saw us but just walked by. In the end, the barman took pity on us and took our order, even though I’m fairly sure it wasn’t his job. The mains arrived twenty minutes apart, with the appetizers arriving last. When it came to paying, it was virtually impossible to get anyone’s attention. I asked one passing server who looked pretty exasperated. I said I didn’t know who our server was, and he just shrugged and said ‘me neither’, before walking off. Finally, at the third time of asking, the sommelier handled our bill. We never did identify out server and felt completely ignored and in the no mans land territory for being served. What angered us even more was the table beside us, with three men who sat down afger us, was served immediately and promptly. We were two women dining. I really don’t want to read too much into this but the difference in standard was absolutely blatant. And a final point, there were two male servers with longer hair. As they were carrying the food trays on their shoulders, their hair was flopping in the food. I’m so grateful they weren’t our dishes but a definite message would be if you’ve got long hair, don’t carry food right next to it on your shoulder. The food was ok but the lack of respect and engagement really ruined our meal and left us feeling angry and extremely disappointed. It’s not cheap and we’re right to expect better service (or, to be frank, any service)

Excellent Food and Fabulous Service!

We loved our dinner at the Wild Ginger. You will too! A very eclectic selection of food choices - fresh and perfectly spiced. We'll be back on our next trip to Seattle for sure.

To Tears

By @LibTourKarl |

From entrance to execution, from plate to palate, from taste to tipping, it was the best food experience of my life. Expert attention by David our waiter punctuated flawless dining throughout. I savoured the Thai Spring Rolls wrapped in lettuce (as suggested by David) and the Lobster dumpling soup. I was almost moved to tears with every bite. The dessert..a coconut cake drizzled in coconut glaze provided a unique taste using the same ingredient. My words are wholly insufficient in describing how good the food, service, atmosphere and dining experience was. Well done.

Never again

By SandranBarry D |

Been eating here 2x a year for many years now, but tonight was the final straw. Ignored, mistreated, poured our own wine all night, ignored again, etc. Service was horrid by any standards. On departure, we tried to engage the "manager" and he literally turned his back on us. Food was good as always but anyone can put decent food on a plate. The experience is what counts, and our service from 3 different servers was bottom barrel. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Seattle there is no need to give this one a go.

Amazing Thai restaurant

By Grandmasid |

Wild Ginger is a delicious Thai restaurant! Our waitress was the best we have ever had. She was so attentive and recommended great choices for us. There were four of us and we had a starter of lettuce cups with sea bass, shrimp Pad Thai, Seven flavor beef, Mongolian noodles. Everything was fresh and delicious! We would highly recommend this restaurant and especially our waitress Ari.

Had a group, amazing

By tannamoore |

I had a group of about 25. Seating and service on lazy Susan’s mid table was excellent. Offerings for vegan and vegetarians. Delicious

It’s gone downhill in a bad way

By ScottRoby |

It’s been a few years since we’ve eaten here. I’ve been coming here since the 90’s when it was in its smaller more quaint location. It’s always been packed but on this Saturday night it was fairly quiet. Maybe I know why. Service was horrible. It’s one thing to be willing to pay for overpriced Asian food because it is good. And honestly the fragrant duck saved the night because it is still a classic dish. But the curry dish we ordered had way undercooked inedible potatoes (nearly raw) and lacked flavor. Plus $4.50 for soda water is steep given no refills offered. Sad, but this visit will definitely influence whether I’ll come back again.

A Seattle Treasure!

By PDXFolks |

I've been dining at Wild Ginger since moving to Portland in the mid 90s (it was recommended by a former colleague) and it still remains a personal fave! I so loved the original location on Western but the reality is, they simply outgrew the space. We visited last week with another couple who enjoy it as much as we do. In fact, we took Amtrak up for the sole purpose of eating there! I reserved via Open Table and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Grace was lovely, as was the new hire who shadowed her. They were both helpful with menu recommendations. We began with a round of martinis and then a few appetizers. The Potstckers were amazing and the Seabass Lettuce Wraps packed a delicious punch of spice! My only reason for 4 stars is, the Fragrant Duck was dry, fatty and totally flavorless. Given that this is their signature dish which I've enjoyed during every visit, I was ready to cry, as my mouth had been watering... To Grace's credit, I didn't convey my disappointment. On the upside, we moved on with a bottle of wine and entrees. The Seven Flavor beef was enjoyable, as were the Butter Chicken, Pad Thai and of course the Sechewan Green Beans! We skipped desert and opted for a Spanish Coffee in the bar. All in all, I will never stop loving the Wild Ginger! As a side recommendation: we crashed at The Belltown Inn which is 3/4 of a mile down 3rd and it was cozy and economical.

Exceptional

Fantastic food. Wonderfully seasoned 7 spice beef & butter chicken. Great service. Relaxed atmospher.

Good food

By susanmary6 |

As visitors to Seattle did not know where to eat. Saw the restaurant and liked the Cambodian type menu so walked in. Staff helpful and got us a table. Good Service. Food very tasty, however, portions very large so would suggest ordering one meal and sharing - unless you are very hungry!

I finally made it / you should too.

By mardi c |

fun food here. Many fun drinks as well. we had bok choy, pot stickers, a soup with so many herbs in it, I was blown. Like a tom gha soup, only better. (I didn't think you could improve that one.) we also had the green beans, which were delightful, and skewered shrimp.

OK, but not amazing

By Steve Lewis |

I was very excited when seeing the pictures of the scallops. They were serve with no side, not even rice. The pepper was not enough prominent. The entrée not enough warm. Overall it was good but not as exceptional as stated

Disappointing.

By Jet lag |

I visited Wild Ginger while at a healthcare conference, and dined with colleagues one evening. The restaurant is cavernous with high ceilings and extremely loud. Bathrooms were only moderately clean. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended the duck. We waited. and waited, and waited. Those in our party that had ordered sandwiches were finally served. One duck dish came out (three of us ordered). It appeared that there was either a kitchen (or waiter mix-up) A few minutes later, another duck came out, but we found out was set in front of the wrong person. Later, the final duck arrived, but the rest of the table had nearly finished. There were apologies of course, but we had all been fed finally. The duck (that we had heard was fabulous) was overcooked, and was seasoned with far too much 5-spice powder. The little dumplings that accompanied the duck (the idea is to make little sliders), were good, but very filling. I ate one, but left the rest. No side dish/veggie. The dipping sauce lacked flavor, and didn't complement the seasoning. Disappointing. We didn't stay for dessert.

Style over substance

By MartynG_11 |

First time at this Wild Ginger. We were attending a concert at Benaroya Hall across the street. Arrived without reservation to a really busy restaurant, the front of house greeted us warmly and got us a table after 10 minutes. Our server again really friendly and helpful. A low lit cosy eating environment. We ordered wine and soda and entrees of Butter Chicken and Monks Curry (tofu). Really wanted to be positive but the term “style over substance” really springs to mind, we shared jasmine rice but the actual entrees for the price were really low on well Chicken and Tofu, lots of sauce mind. The sauce was tasty but we genuinely felt short changed. Definitely not a cheap experience, very friendly but just not a lot of actual food for the money. We will dine elsewhere pre concert in downtown next time. 3 stars for ambience and happy persona of staff.

Just what we needed

By rldavis |

It was a dark and stormy day. We were cold and wet. The crumpet shop and Italian delis were packed. Then, we found Wild Ginger! Their seafood soup, curries, and noodle dishes made the world right again. Everything was perfectly spiced, super hot, and came to table quickly. To top it off, we got boiling hot towels at the end of the meal, turning the whole thing into a spa experience! WG, you saved the day.

It was okay.

By Wyominghamster |

The service was good. The food was okay. The ambiance was like a school cafeteria. Overall, it wasn't bad, but not stellar. Probably a solid choice if you just need a meal in the area. Doubt I'd drive very far specifically to eat here. As a side note, the menu consists of two sheets of paper, front and back (four pages of text). Three of those pages are the drink menu.

Take out food was very marginal

By Amy H |

I used to love Wild Ginger but we have ordered take out twice and I think we are done. We ordered the Seven Flavor Beef, Sichuan Green Beans, Thai Passion Tofu and the Chicken Chieu Salad. I'm not clear if the salad was supposed to have chicken but there was no chicken at all in the salad. The portion size for $12 was very small. The other dishes were very oily and just all around not great.

Magnificent

By Family i |

Order the duck with steam buns. Huge portion and very tasty. Seven ingredient beef flank steak was also very good. Don’t leave without trying the Malay cake with coconut sauce. Extremely light and fluffy and more than enough to share. Portions are very good at this restaurant. Quality of food is excellent.

Fading Star

By ywetravel |

We have loved this place for 25 years going back to their original location. Last time out they were just OK. While the Seafood Noodles and Seven Flavor Beer were great as usual, the Black Pepper Scallops were over-cooked. The service was adequate but not great on a night that was not very busy (i.e. half full in the main dining room). The greatest disappointment was in the wine service. After discussing three selections, our somm recommended one that she had never tasted (it was also the most expensive of the three). She tasted it with us and agreed that it was not what she expected. The white wine was also served at a warmish room temperature. Oh well, enjoy. I do hope that they pick up their game and not become just another over priced tourist stop. We would really miss the Seafood Noodles.

Excellent food, service and decor

By Paul C |

The duck is particularly good. Big pot stickers. The chefs specials are to be considered as they were all excellent. Great service, would recommend and return.

Very good food.

By Atlantis_514 |

Prior to an event at Benaroya Hall, we shared Seven Flavor Beef (skillfully seasoned Beef), and Seafood Thai Noodles (excellent rice noodles). Just a little noisy for my taste.

Lovely atmosphere for late dinner

By WI Cheese Girl |

I wandered through closed Pike Market after hours, as I got into town after 9pm. Walking back to hotel to settle for hotel food, I took a chance here. Dining room closed at 10, but they sat me at side high table in bar, totally comfy and welcome for a lone woman eating alone late. Good wine selection and pad Thai was yummy. Not best ever but very good. I really like the vibe here. Great service!

Great food and service

By MostafaPajouyan |

We had mainly Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese appetizers and main course. All were great. Taste is still quite authentic and not too Americanized. Service was outstanding. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.

Amazing restaurant and staff!

By Kris B |

From the moment we walked in for our reservation we were impressed. The greeter was super friendly and sweet, our server went out of his way to be awesome and even brought our daughter a free non alcoholic drink just to see if she would like it. The food was top notch as well. I in the strongest sense recommend this restaurant.

Great food and place to visit!

By Sdyck67 |

The Pad Thai and seven flavors of beef was amazing! Excellent food and a wonderful atmosphere. Worth the dinning and not to expensive.

Perfect setting for a group dinner

By GratefulMo |

A very nice setting for great Thai food and friends. I’d rate the green curry among the best I’ve had, and I’ve had a few! There were good acoustics, so although a large space with many full tables, our group was able to converse without straining to hear. Really well done dining establishment.

Wonderful Meal and Good Service

By Daca L |

My husband and I went here with a group of friends/colleagues for dinner before the symphony. The service was great and the server made wonderful recommendations. She even asked if we had any time restrictions - which we did due to the 8 pm performance. Starters and mains were excellent as was the wine. We had the scallops, lettuce cups, spring rolls, tofu, sea bass, and Thai noodles - all were excellent!

Good things comes to those who look for them.

By Kelzabelle |

Firstly the location of this restaurant might be deceiving. I questioned it. We had to walk past a fair amount of homeless people in what seemed like not the greatest street. However this restaurant is fantastic! We are big fans of this type of cuisine so we had actively searched for a restaurant like this and were not disappointed. My partner had the duck and still raves that this meal what designed for him. The menu was great, drinks lovely and the service was good too. The only thing to make sure is that if you order a meal make sure you state if you want the larger portion or the single one. My partner ordered the duck thinking it would come out as the single portion (as i had already ordered my main) out came the portion with about 8 buns and a plate full of duck. Once we asked the waiter about the portion size it was quickly corrected. Great place, calm atmosphere and would highly recommend.

Delicious but expensive

By Neta_Avivi |

Very good food including a special Satay menu. Everything was very tasty including some special non-alcoholic drinks. Prices are quite high.

Solid choice

By ckster |

Everything was solid. Our server was very nice. The food was nicely seasoned and not too salty. Prices were reasonable for the portions.

Superb dinner

By EpicGuy12 |

I am in town for work and this place was close to my hotel so I wanted to give it a try. I went on a Sunday night so it wasn't too crowded so I was seated right away. It took a bit longer for my server to come up but he then apologized for the delay. After glancing at the menu I decided on the lamb chops along with a spicy mango soda. I will say the spicy mango soda did have some kick to it do to the thai chilis that were placed into the drink. My lamb was brought out and not only did it look good it tasted even better. The sauce that came out was simply amazing and I really wished there was more of the dish. It was a fantastic meal with great pricing and friendly service. I would certainly go back again.

Did not like it

By matufa |

I was at Wild Ginger on a busy Saturday night, the restaurant was full but the food was taste less, we ordered the Seabass lettuce wraps, there was barely any fish, then a Tuna bruschetta on a horrible oily bread, there is such delicious bread in Seattle, really don’t know why the restaurant use this kind of baguette. The lobster wonton soup was the least worst of the night because the beef was very hard to chew. Total disappointment.

Great evening - delicious

By Krisinseattle |

Great evening - delicious food! We met friends here and shared many plates. The Siam lettuce cups are disassembled so you make your own with sea bass. Delicious - $24. The seven flavor beef was average $22. The black pepper scallops very flavorful- $33. The princess prawns very good - $28.50. Seafood Thai noodles average -$19, green beans delicious -$13. Bowl of brown rice $5 and additional hot sauces rounded out the meal. Finished off with a chocolate torte. Yum! Lots of wine so bill came to $233 before gratuity. Our server: Pepe, was spot on and very attentive and timely. Loved the hot towels to wash up before and after. Will definitely return!

Attentive service, nice dishes

We enjoy going here before concerts at next door Benaroya Hall. Service is prompt and attentive but never rushed. A decent variety of dishes are available to choose from.

Best Meal in Seattle!

By Tina56_8 |

We loved everything about our dinner at Wild Ginger! We enjoyed a drink and potstickers at the bar during happy hour and then had a sharing menu, as recommended by our server, for dinner. The amount of food was perfect and all menu items were delicious!

By MaryDoe |

Nice experience. Was convenient to hotel so thought give it a try. Food and service were excellent. Was recommended by someone who stopped in hotel.

Bursting with flavor!

By Hsteinmiller |

Oh, dear, where do I start? From the friendly greeting at the entrance to the unexpected birthday card (my husband's) to the simply amazing food, Wild Ginger surpassed our expectations. Our server Courtney was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, with many suggestions. We shared the duck with bao and the sea bass over noodles - simply heaven in the mouth. The desserts were equally wonderful - my husband had the coconut sango and I had the house-made chocolate mousse. Both were phenomenal. The only jarring note was my non-alcoholic Emerald Breeze - I found the flavor combination a bit weird and bitter, but that's my personal taste buds. Absolutely 100% recommended,

Absolutely amazing

By Travellover |

Love at first glance. Former department store became Seattle's most loved authentic Southeast Asian cuisine since 1989. Very nice atmosphere around, quiet soft light and fresh air. Two floors and a lot of free space . Outstanding service. All dishes with no exceptions was absolutely delightful. We have a wonderful time on Thanksgiving day 2019 .The best choice!

Really Good Asian Food

We had a great dinner. They have an incredible wine list and excellent service. We shared all our meals and were glad we did. Highly recommend.

Exceptional!!!!

By PaulFiveOThree |

Top notch service! From hostess to server to cooks to manager….there people deliver on a mission to present great food and drink and a memorable meal experience!!! 100%. If you find yourself in Seattle for business or pleasure, find your way here in the heart of South Lake Union, “the” happening area and you won’t go wrong!

Gourmet Asian

By wdan2014 |

This is one of my favorite downtown restaurants. The menu is huge and never disappoints! The convenience of being close to Benaroya is wonderful. We have gone back to this restaurant since it was at it's first location which was at least 30 years ago.

Near Perfect Experience

By SmartKd |

Food was really excellent. Seven flavor beef was recommended and so tasty. Hanoi tuna was seared perfectly and has awesome sweet green sauce. Sichuan green beans were slightly too salty but great. Our server Eddie made the meal awesome. Really great sense of humor, solid recommendations, and always balancing attentive service with our privacy. Near perfect experience.

Our second visit for a Meat Lover and a Vegan.

By chrisb55 |

This is my second visit to Wild Ginger. Both visits were preceded by making reservations; since dinner time is usually packed. We arrived and were seated timely. The food was prepared to our liking. My meal included beef and chicken. While other members of our dinner party were treated with vegetarian dishes equally as well prepared. One member has special dietary restrictions and was easily able to tailor the meal to meet his needs. We will be back again for our third meal the next time we visit in Seattle.

Horror show

By Paul G |

Bring your sleeping bag your going to be there a long time. I have never had service so bad in all the places I have traveled in this world. After an hour and a half I had to get my food to go. My GF got hers and 1/2 hr before me, a different server brought mine. I had to get it to go as we had a show to catch. You would think an hour and a half would be enough time to get dinner before a show but not at the wild ginger. The only reply from the waiter was if I wanted silverware to go?.....I wanted to like the food, I guess I’ll have to get home and Nuke it to see.

Wild Ginger is an adventure in dining S.E. Asia with menu items from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam

By Marvin G |

We had heard wonderful things about Wild Ginger and while there are locations in Atlanta, we had never had occasion to visit. We were genuinely excited to test the waters in Seattle and really wanted to experience as much of the menu as possible. Everyone was into wine that evening and we ordered a Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, NZ and a Pino Noir from the Willamette valley, OR. We started out with Singapore beef satay that was marinated in lemongrass, ginger, shallots and spices. It was served with a peanut-dipping sauce. This plate was joined by Island Crumbed Scallops that were coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried. They were served with a home-made dipping sauce infused with curry, black pepper and mayonnaise on green cabbage and red radish. We also ordered Siamese Lettuce cups that contained sea bass, jicama, and peanuts in a sauce made from basil, lime juice, chili and tamarind on a bed of lettuce. We then moved on to Green Papaya Salad that was shredded and mixed with carrots and herbs. It was served with a spicy fish sauce dressing. Next was Thai Seafood Noodles made from wild rice and wok-fried with prawns, squid, mussels with a light soy infused with basil and chili. The Fragrant Duck was a no-brainer. The twice cooked duck spiced with Sichuan peppercorns and five spices was served with steam buns and plum sauce. Nam’s Lamb Chops were also a crowd pleaser. They were marinated in cognac and Sichuan peppercorns, grilled and finished with hoisin sauce, resh toasted coconut and crushed peanuts. Our last dish was Sea Bass Cha Ca. The fish was marinated in a type of ginger, wok fried and served over rice noodles seasoned with fresh herbs. We were highly impressed with the quality and variety of offerings on the menu. There was literally something for everyone. We were not disappointed in our choices. The wait staff were very knowledgeable about each item on the menu and helped us to coordinate our ordering decision as we navigated the menu. They were very professional, nearby when needed, but not overbearing. This helped to make our evening most enjoyable. We heartily recommend Wild Ginger McKenzie and will visit one of the Atlanta sites upon our return home.

Not on Mother's day

By brider58 |

The evening was a bit of a disappointment but no fault to the restaurant and all to the day...Mother's Day. Unbeknownst to us the restaurant like many in the US on this day offered a buffet vice menu service. We are not fans of buffets but at that point options were limited so we opted to stay and eat buffet. Overall, we were glad we did as the food was kept fresh and the options mostly mirrored the menu. Our waiters did a great job with cocktail and wine recommendations and kept the table clear of used dishes. The food was quite good and changed out so as we never felt anything had sat "just a little too long" in a chaffing pan. As the food and service were very good no hit to the ratings. I suggest if they, or any other restaurant, know in advance they were celebrating a special day by dropping menu service or even offering a special menu they should note that at least a month out from the day. I make the majority of our restaurant reservations via Open Table at least two weeks in advance. I Had I known they were doing a buffet I would have sought out other reservations. Much better a patron go elsewhere and plan to visit another day than show up disappointed.

Bigger and better

By BarbaraQuayle |

I have eaten here several times on past visits to Seattle. The new location is big and elegant and the food and service Is just is outstanding. Every dish that came out was superb and everyone had a wonderful time.

Great Asian fusion food

The place was packed, so we sat at the bar. Had never done that before, but a very good experience. We had excellent food, made with passion, and very reasonable prices and quite good local beer

Date Night

By Will_Travel |

Decided to try something new. Loved it!! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They have a section on the menu that has original entrees from when it opened 30 years ago. The chicken satay and duck were some of the best we have ever had.

For us the best Thai restaurant in Seattle

By MattKeyzer |

We had not been there in a while, but everything is still how we remember it. Very good food. Attentive team, just a little noisy if you are seated in the main area. Best to ask for a table in the more quiet side area of the restaurant.

Skip this one. The food was sub par.

By Jaewriter |

The chicken satay was meh - the chicken was a bit rubbery and the peanut sauce was so-so. The potstickers were tasty. The real disappointment was the main tuna dish *Tuna Hanoi. It had thick membranes that made it impossible to chew. I sent it back. Ended up eating just the side dish of green beans. Left hungry and unhappy.

Perfect for a concert dinner

By Pippiduck |

Wild Ginger is in the perfect location for a pre or post concert dinner when attending an event at Benaroya Hall, which is across the street. This restaurant has an Asian fusion menu that offers a diner many choices, whether it be noodles, fish, chicken, meat, etc. Even staple type curries and vegetables, such as Pad Thai, are presented with flair and interestingly spiced. This is a large in-city restaurant catering to downtown business lunches and dinners to pre-post concert meals. It’s a good choice!

Excellent meals to share

By nmb |

From appetizers through main courses, selections are excellent. Full bar and a varied menu including some of their ageless standards. Suggest you make reservations

Dinner so good we went back a second time

By khiservice |

After reading the online menu we were very excited to try Wild Ginger. It's not the easiest to find the main front door (on 3rd St side), just don't give up because it's worth it. The ambience and experience was top-notch. Our waiter was busy but still took time to visit the table many times to make sure we were enjoying our food and drinks. Both of our entree's were prepared well and was, by far, the best dinner we had while in Seattle. In fact, we went back a second time for our last night in town. How's that for an endorsement?!? If you only have a chance to visit a couple nice restaurants while in Seattle, make Wild Ginger one of your choices.

Just WOW!

By LancsPozzie |

From the moment we walked in we were made to feel welcome. Courtney, our hostess, was just exceptional; happy, friendly, helpful but without being overwhelming for two almost geriatric Anglo-aussies. The food was great ; the potstickers certainly stuck well inside my pot and felt and tasted delicious on the way down. My wife really enjoyed the Butter Chicken, which had the right balance of spice and creaminess. My Angkor Wat chicken had just enough tang to make life interesting without being over the top. The only issue was there was far too much food- I did ask Courtney when the family of five was joining us. This was the perfect antidote for three weeks of cruise ship food coming from Brisbane to Seattle which, whilst good, could never have the flavours of the food we had at Wild Ginger Just a great meal

Asian greatness.

By Candleligh |

I have been going to this restaurant for over ten years when in Seattle. The Fragrant Duck is my go to and tonight it was even better than remembered. The duck perfectly prepared and of course the buns to put the duck in were so light and melt in your mouth good. The serving of eight buns and duck was more than enough to share for two. We also had the spring rolls that when wrapped in a lettuce leave with picked vegetables were super good. Service was over the top good so a perfect dining experience.

Superb early evening out

By AbsolutelyDubrovnik |

Superb early evening out at Wild Ginger with family. Menu had so many great choices. Loved the cocktails we tried. Service was great & timely. Loved the food. Satay was popular at our table.

Best Thai Restaurant in Seattle!

By Pam W |

Our Server, Danny, was ‘spot on’ — so personable and gave excellent knowledgeable Entree suggestions. Our Family of 5 found the quiet Booth to give lively ambience away from others dining…look no further for authentic Thai food — The Beef Short Rib Entree will not disappoint.. be sure to add a bowl of white rice !

A very good asian food in Seattle

By Luis R B |

Hicimos reservación de última hora y nuestta expectativa no era muy alta; sin embargo, nos encontramos con un lugar muy amplio e iluminado, muy buen servicio, platillos bien preparados y una buena carta de vino. We made a last minute reservation and our expectations were not too high; however, we found a very spacious and bright spot, very good service, well prepared dishes and a good wine list.

Second time just as good

By Nigel B |

We came here on our last visit to Seattle in 2011 and thought we would risk another sample. We need not have worried it was wonderful! The food is more Asian than West and they do it very well. We had booked a table but given we had a 4am start we turned up at 6pm (or earlier) and were seated in the bar area as the main restaurant was not open yet. The barman and later a waiter gave us some really good service. We ordered way too much food but everything sounds so good it’s impossible to limit yourself. We staggered back to our hotel for an early night.

Wonderful food

By Sister L |

Wild Ginger was truly a gem. We stumbled upon this restaurant after attending a recent conference in downtown Seattle. Several of the Asian-fusion entrees we had were absolutely delicious, so we went back the next night to try a few additional ones. Our waiter was very attentive both evenings and helped us choose a nice wine to complement our dinner choices. The decor was upscale but not over the top. It was very comfortable, however, it was a bit noisy when we first arrived, but as the crowds thinned out, it became a little less energetic. We will definitely be coming back here and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an enjoyable evening with excellently prepared food and accompanying wine.

What a wonderful place to eat....

What an amazing treat to eat at this restaurant. Great vegetarian choices and even with tofu on the menu. Location in down town Seattle was within walking distance from our hotel with a superb atmosphere. Extremely busy but servers were great and the wait time was within expectations. Food was delicious and good value. Staff were wondefful. I would recommend.

In a city with a lot of restaurants this one is worth a visit

It is conveniently located and large enough that there was no waiting to get in. We had the duck because it was what we had read about. It was very good.

Enjoyable Mid-week Dinner

By mgargiles |

Dined her mid-week, so it was not crowded, although it is ia pretty large space that can accommodate smaller and larger groups alike. They have free standing tables, in addition to booths so they can give you the experience you prefer. They have a good selection of hot teas, and went with a pot for 2 of us. We started off with the chicken chieu salad, which has shredded chicken in a slightly spicy dressing, with cabbage, onions, and carrots. The kids chicken fried rice was a good size, and meant a doggy bag. The green curry chicken was what you would expect, tasty, but nothing too exotic. The peanut and herb sea bass, had a good marinade and was pan-fried, cooked just right. It was light, not too spicy, and very flavorful.

gourmet Vegetarian option

I had dinner with a group of friends here. The menu was broad, the food was excellent for every course including desert. I would highly recommend taking a little time to drive over to this establishment

Disappointing on many levels

By NCDoc |

I have often come to Wild Ginger on trips to Seattle because the food and service have been good and the wine list is amazing. My most recent sampling was not so good. We were seated upstairs, which I recommend if you can get a seat there. The service was problematic. First we received the wrong entrees (they asked the next table if they were theirs - they weren’t. Back to the kitchen to try again). Then our entrees came. Followed in a short while by our appetizers (note the order). The scallop satay was tasty, but petite. Really petite. The green curry chicken was bland and under seasoned. Hints of curry, not much flavor. Pad Thai was decent. I suspect they have dishes with more flavor - none of these earned a recommendation. As noted, the wine list is a reason to come. But I’ve crossed it off my list of favorite Seattle restaurants. It was faulty on too many levels. Mostly I was disappointed because I was really looking forward to the visit. I rarely write negative reviews, but this one was earned.

Very good food, large, noisy, a bit chaotic

By stevenhoward2 |

Went there before theater. Fortunately we were very early because there was some problem with the main courses and by the time they came out we had to go. Restaurant nice enough to comp the dinners. Highlight was the soup. Spring rolls fair. Would recommend making meal off the apps/soups/ salad. Interesting in that prices for food very reasonable but extensive and expensive wine list that you would expect in a much fancier restaurant.

Great dinner before theatre

By JimboMalibu_CA |

We had theatre tickets so came early (5:00) for dinner. The restaurant is large and well kept. We shared several entrees and sides, also delicious coconut ice cream for dessert . The wait staff was attentive and cognizant of our timing. Very enjoyable.

Lovely food

By AJMglobaltraveller |

Luckily we had booked a table at Wild Ginger as the restaurant was packed. We were seated on time at a window table so we could people watch inside and out. We had a nice bottle of white wine and we ordered the special seven spice beef, with chicken pad Thai and Bok Choi, which were all delicious.

Disappointing

By KMB4766 |

We have loved Wild Ginger for years and go there to celebrate or before shows. We will give it another chance, but our recent experience was just sub-par. All the food was meh, good but not great. The tuna was ridiculously expensive, especially given the way it was presented and tasted -- meh. The bathrooms --- both the mens and women's -- were just not clean. Paper towels on the floor, water/soap all over the counter, out of things and it was the very beginning of the night. Obviously the bathroom doesn't make or break a place, but it does seem to be an indicator that it was "slipped". We were not impressed and with so many other options, we will be going to other places. I really LIKE giving good reviews but just cannot this time.

Great service and wonderful Pad Thai

By JudyTom2015 |

We are in Seattle for one day and are so impressed with this restaurant. At first It was challenging to get the attention of the hostess station to get a table.. three employees caught up in conversation and ignoring us... But once seated at a great table, it was a wonderful experience. The waiter was quick to help us find vegetarian choices, and knowledgeable on the ingredients of the menu choices. The wait staff kept our drinks full and were the perfect balance of attentive, but not invasive. The food arrived and was amazing. I know Pad Thai is such an over ordered dish, but it is my daughter’s favorite. She is very clear on what makes a good dish vs not-so-good dish. She loved it! It makes us sad we are leaving tomorrow, but plan to return.

Quintessential Seattle!

Wild Ginger was one of the first restaurants I went to when I moved to Seattle 15 years ago and it is still going strong. Amazing food and lovely interior. Highly recommend!

Good service, delicious food, GF/DF options were great!

By andi876 |

Fit us in on a Friday night. Hostess was very polite! Food was very very good… GF/DF options were excellent! We ordered 2 starters & 2 mains for the 4 of us & we had some leftover. Price was reasonable.

The waiter was the key

By RadioGuru |

This was a recommendation from a colleague for a special night in Seattle. It was made memorable by our personable, super-friendly and attentive waiter, who went beyond just recommending dishes, but actually bought half of a second appetizer so that we could order the spicy one and our daughter could have something else (there were about three such above-and-beyond acts) over the course of the evening. We encountered a lot of choices for Thai in Seattle and we're glad we chose this one.

AMAZING!!

This was the best restaurant I visited on my trip to Seattle! The waiter we had was so kind and offered great service! The food was delicious and plated beautifully! The menu was unique! Highly recommend!

Most Delicious!!!

By JRMADA |

We had dinner here and OMG! What an experience! The restaurant is very comfortable and modern with a great atmosphere. The service is friendly, helpful, and attentive, and the food is the star of the show. The fragrant duck is superb. I'm not a fan of duck, but absolutely loved it here. This place can fill up, so make a reservation to secure a table. The down town location only serves dinner. We highly recommend it.

We knew a few days in advance about our dinner, but the expected attendance kept growing as the date of the event approached. Our final tally was 52 people. Accommodating such a large group can be a challenge, but their use of multiple nearby tables allowed for lots of interaction, our goal. The service was super and the food was excellent. We have have these annual dinners for about 2 decades, with the city varying from year to year, and people consistently said this was the best one ever.

deliciuos dishes and excellent service

By solidvu |

we were a group of 7 with different dietary needs, Vegan Vegetarian and etc.the restaurant is able to accommodate any size group and any dietary need. i belong to the etc. group and my recommendations are the Chicken Satay, Chicken dumplings and the sea bass fish dish. very nice atmosphere and excellent wine choices. i was at the Seattle location but they also have a Bellevue location.

Disappointed in our take out dinner during quarantine 😩

By Juanafriedman |

We spent almost $200 for our once a week take out for our family of 4 during quarantine to support local Seattle businesses. I specifically stated no spice in 3 of the entree meals (costing $19- $24 each). We drove 20 min to SLU to pickup my order for 530 but wasn’t ready until 6pm. They brought it to my car and wore gloves which I appreciated- thank you ! It smelled amazing 😉 We opened all of our order, filled our plates at home for a family Friday night dinner, and in one bite of the seafood noodles, my daughter who is fine with spice had a complete explosion 💥 in her mouth and was unable to eat the rest of the meal. I specifically said in the notes no spice and I even added “please” I called to ask them if they read the order notes - the gal was SO offended and said it’s a separate company for takes the order- and after 15 min of talking to her manager, she took off 2 meals from our order which I highly doubt will ever happen- yet to see that on a receipt. How about saying “thank you so much for supporting our restaurant! We are so sorry! “ I am a true Seattleite, I want to keep businesses that I like alive during the Covid disaster, unfortunately I will not be supporting Wild Ginger again. There are just too many other restaurants in Seattle who will appreciate your business during this time and won’t give you a hard time for asking for no spice on your $200 meal.

Superb Meal, Excellent Service

By Ebo |

The 7 Element Soup is as good as it gets. It’s one of those dishes where all the flavors meld into something that’s hard to put into words. The pot stickers were perfectly balanced.

Fantastic place to dine in Seattle!

By Chris |

This was our first dinner on a two week vacation. As soon as we walked in, the cool décor and ambience caught our attention. Service by David was super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and if you consider how expensive EVERYTHING in Seattle is, this was not an outrageously priced dinner at all. The chicken satay, 7 flavor beef, and assam prawns were all fantastic, and the coconut sago was a pleasant dessert surprise. The only negative thing I can say is the alcoholic drinks were tiny. Maybe a couple ounces of liquid around a giant ice cube. That aside, still 5 stars.

Superb Food-Dense Chocolate

Wild Ginger has everything that you want when you go to a restaurant. Impeccable service, really great selection of dishes - all well prepared. The room is quiet enough to speak at a normal level. The dishes arrive promptly and at the right temperature for each. Perhaps the best description might be that this is a restaurant for adult (or really well behaved children).

Dependable but stick to downtown

By Cara |

The food here is very dependable and the duck is the best. I tried the South Lake location and the space is small. MAKE SURE you stay in the main area and not the string of tables leading to the bathroom. The drinks were really slow, like 10-20 minutes for each drink. Don’t get a mixed drink. They really wanted to rush you through dinner. They asked if we wanted to order 5 times and then the food came out pretty fast. Go to the downtown location for the pretty space and better service.

Delish Duck

By Debs |

Made a reservation and showed up on time . We had to wait since it was packed . It’s right next to the theater , and people were scrambling to get out the door . Service slow, but I’ll give them the benefit since a big crowd being served . . Potstickers, duck and beef all excellent .

Fun

By howardr530 |

We let our imaginations do the ordering and was not disappointed. We probably ordered a bit more food than necessary. Had some great appetizers....the wings and spring rolls were the favorite. The som was helpful in the wine selection. Service was just OK...

A great find in Seattle

By algedwards |

We hadn’t booked in advance but were able to get a table after a short wait. We had just one course which was sufficient for us and it was absolutely delicious.

Very Good and Interesting Asian Fusion

By paddlerdave23 |

We have returned to Wild Ginger after 7 years. Still a very interesting Asian fusion menu. The fragrant duck and green papaya salad were the highlights of the dinner. The chicken pad thai is quite spicy but tasty. If you like Asian fusion this is a great spot.

Beautiful bar and wonderful food

By Jndent |

9 of usage here in July....we had a large round table in the bar area which was beautiful! Our waiter helped us to a variety of dishes which we all sampled from a large lazy susan. Fun evening!

Good!

By angies25 |

Visited here on a business trip. Great selection of Asian food, I had the chicken pad Thai. Serving sides were more than adequate. The only area that was lacking was getting service when we sat down, it took longer than I would have liked.

Excellent wines

By John O |

It was a good lunch here. Away from the tourist madness that is Pike Place market. We enjoyed the fresh food with for flavor. Our server was excellent, with good recommendations on the menu. The wine program is outstanding. Lots of great bottles for a fair price with age.

Always good, but short of greatness.

By Joel P |

We had a good meal but it wasn’t amazing. Staff: good, but lacked that extra touch. Not as warm and welcoming as could be. Environment: nice, warm, comfortable and right in downtown Seattle. We sat by the window which provided a view of all sorts of people including a man urinating and a couple aggressively making out right at our window. Food: Mussels were amazing, best part of the meal. Papaya salad was okay (don’t bother adding “prawns” - $6 for five little shrimp with nothing on them around the outside). Ahi Tuna was very nice, second best dish. Green curry was only okay. It lacked the flavor that you expect from a curry dish. Wine: we did carafes of sac blanc and the WG Pinot Noir. The wine was delicious, especially the Pinot but you are only getting about a half bottle so the pricing is pretty high at $30. We always try to visit WG when we come to Seattle but I think we will branch out and try other spots going forward.

Our favorite restaurant in Seattle

By PaloAltoTraveler27 |

This is our favorite restaurant in Seattle. Their food is absolutely delicious and so filled with flavor! Our favorites were the seven flavor beef, the seven element soup and the siam lettuce cups - all of them have this wonderful mixture of sweet and spicy flavors. But every single thing on the menu that we have tried there has been wonderful. We highly recommend.

fusion restaurant has the location and service

By Kenpasha |

We were getting ready to attend a concert at Benaroya Hall and met with two friends to try out this Southeast Asian or Fusion establishment. Since there were four of us, we managed to try several dishes: First of all, it should be noted that the setting here, location (across the street from the concert hall--talk about Feng shui), and service, are all great. The staff is attentive, the setting refined, and the before-dinner cocktails were well-made. The actual food gave us something of a mixed picture. The Thai spring rolls were fine and we wrapped them in lettuce with some sprouts to eat, per the server's suggestion. My wife had the wagyu skewers (the appetizer for her was the main course), but we both found the beef somewhat bland. For a main course, I had "Angkor Wat Chicken" (again note the SE Asian theme coming out), but this dish, while tasty and I would have it again, seemed like simply a kind of gong bao ji ding. It was good though. Another friend had the "Mongolian noodles"--but I'm not sure what was Mongolian about them; and they were a bit oily. Finally, the friend on my right had the 7-flavor beef (I may have gotten the name wrong), but this was I think deep-fried first, then given the wok treatment. Perhaps not the tastiest? My question here, and I don't want to sound too fussy or dead-set against the whole fusion idea, is that, don't some of these dishes lose their definition when we begin tampering with the recipes? Because it seemed like the best dishes just kept close to their original concepts; the chicken and the spring rolls. So then, do we really need fusion... Anyway, I don't want to seem too finicky. We would come here again. I really enjoyed the setting. We'll try some other dishes on the next visit. With two drinks (not everybody had one), this was about $150 for four for dinner.

Worth every star

By Peter C |

Wild Ginger crushed it for our special dinner. We were seated promptly at a perfect table. Wait staff had good suggestions and tips for our orders. A nice card signed by some staff was at our table which was a very nice touch to start our evening. Food was prompt, nice and hot, and most importantly delicious! It did get a bit loud briefly but once crowd for the show at music hall left it was very lovely.

Loved it! Excellence in Food and Service

By dunadan |

Four of us had early pre-show dinner reservations on a Sunday evening at Wild Ginger, and had a fantastic experience. We'd eaten from the restaurant before while seeing shows at the Triple Door, but this was my first time in the actual restaurant. Service from start to finish was exceptional. My wife was in the middle of an elimination diet, and had several dietary restrictions (onions, garlic, gluten, milk, among others), but our server was prepared with a list of ingredients in all of the entrees, and was able to suggest the dishes that she could eat. He couldn't have been more accommodating and was a highlight of our meal. The food was great, from our appetizers to the main courses. My wife's pad Thai was great, as was the chicken and dumplings I had. We had ordered some potstickers to start, and they didn't show up until our entrees arrived, and our server comped them without hesitation. Oh yeah--I had the best Manhattan I've ever had with my meal. Just an amazing drink that embodied the best parts of that classic drink, with the top-shelf whisky and the skill of the bartender.
