Skip the shrimp de jongh

By Christine H |

The atmosphere at Wilde is wonderful this time of year. It’s very warm and festive. Even though it was busy, our wait time was brief. The menu, including the chef specials, is pretty repetitive. The food generally is good, but tonight we were disappointed. We tried the shrimp de jongh which was inedible. The chef added cayenne pepper to the dish which ruined it, and there was no mention of it being spicy on the menu.

Delicious and Safe Dinner

By ChgoLvr2 |

This was my best take-out ordering experience during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a neighborhood restaurant and my husband and I have vowed to help out the small restaurants during these extraordinary times. When I read the owner, Martin Cournane’s, letter and pledge to stand by his employees, I was thoroughly impressed. The online ordering process, directly with the restaurant, was the easiest platform I’ve encountered in recent weeks. I didn’t have to place my order hours or days ahead of time. I submitted it around 5:00 and shortly after I received an email that it would be ready at 5:18, perfect. It’s a short walk from home so I arrived at exactly 5:18. The restaurant is set up for social distancing and contactless pick up. The staff were all wearing face masks. I gave my name and my order was placed on a table for me to pick up. They were very friendly. The order was correct and delicious. I was extremely impressed by the gluten free options. We sampled the burgers, fries, onion rings for my husband and Brussels sprouts, gf mac and cheese and burger and salad for me. That was one of the best gf buns and the mac and cheese was sinfully delicious. I couldn’t believe it was gf. We will definitely be ordering from them again soon and we hope that they weather this storm successfully.

Saturday Night Out

Wonderfully festive! Enjoyed the atmosphere at this packed restaurant. Shared the Shepard's Pie and were very happy!

Great place for a meal with friends

By Lawrence K |

I met a few of my former colleagues here for lunch recently. There is an extensive beer and ales menu. The food is quite nice. It's pub fare with staples like fish and chips, shepherds pie, burgers, a few curries and such. The onion ring apps were very nice too. The atmosphere is warm and cozy featuring a fireplace, a beautiful wood bar and subdued light. The front windows open to the sidewalk weather permitting and the day we went they were open. The price is moderate and the area is full of other shops, restaurants and bars.

Wow!

By TravelForDummies |

I was staying in an area of Chicago with which I was unfamiliar. At the end of our street was Wilde. We had been traveling and were looking for a late lunch. The menu looked nice, and the open air feel was attractive, so we stopped in. WOW! Not only was the service great, the food was wonderful. Honestly, I was NOT expecting to find decent crab cakes. But these crab cakes were some of the best I have had. I always compare crab cakes to those my grandmother made. And these were close. Right away, Wilde found a friend and advocate. The crab cake appetizer was accompanied with lightly dressed arugula. Very tasty and fresh. My house salad was ample and fresh. I wished it had been dinner. I was dying to try their beverages :-) I would consider taking the train to Belmont from anywhere to eat there again. Well done, Wilde. Well done.

Awesome Concept-Awesome Place

By Eileen F |

I went here on the Friday night after Christmas and it was the perfect scene for a warm, cozy, winter meal. I love the concept-the fireplace & dark wooden library makes for a great setting. The staff was outstanding. The night we went, they were packed, but they clearly knew how to accommodate that kind of volume and we didn't have to wait too long. Plus, we were able to grab seats at the back bar (they have two bar areas for guests). Full-bar with a great selection of beers. My brother in law is a whiskey drinker and got some good Irish whiskey there. Bartender was very helpful with recommendations and the perfect blend of friendly/talkative without being overbearing and annoying. Same goes for the waitress we had. Food was classic comfort food. We got the spinach dip to start. We also got an order of the homemade mac and cheese to share. My sister and I both got salads that were extremely fresh and tasty (I hate a weak dinner salad) and my burger was cooked perfectly with caramelized onions and sweet potato fries. I left extremely satisfied with the setting, the service, and the food. Next time I visit Chicago, I'm definitely coming back.

Cozy, Comfortable Pub

Late Friday lunch. Open air seating, the bar area is great. Regular and sweet potato fries were to die for!

A fun way to cap an evening in Chicago

By Neoborg |

A late dinner at Wilde Bar & Restaurant was delicious. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the food was very good. Portions were large too. Warm atmosphere with different styles of seating (bar tables, booths, sidewalk café). great decor.

Lobster Mac n cheese!

By Melanie G |

Very good food! On recommendation of a friend, we stopped here after a show. The helpings were just right. The atmosphere was more than a sports bar but not over-the-top expensive.

Irish style bar/restaurant in Lincoln Park

By srvctraveler |

We went to Wilde bar and restaurant because it was convenient to Blue Man Group and still open after the 7pm show. It was great. A bit crowded when we got there but the bar staff were attentive and we had a pleasant time waiting. British style comfort food done well. Shepherd's pie was well cooked and well flavored.

Good options for vegetarians, but the cheese things are heavy

By David S |

There are a number of things available for vegetarians, and the online menu even has a separate section for that. We ordered the grilled cheese and Mac and Cheese, which was a mistake for the summer. They were tasty but heavy. I will give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that in the winter they would have been fantastic.

Great place

By maverickfile |

What a great meal the food was really good and the service was amazing. We went during pride so very busy but seemed to go ok for this place. The drinks were good and food was so well presented and prepared.

Nice Neighborhood Pub/Restaurant

By Ottissmithjr |

Walking around North Chicago near Wrigleyville and stopped in for a beer. Very nice and large Irish type pub with great feel. Staff was great and had a nice outdoor patio. Really was Hungary but ventured down the menu and settle on a grilled cheese sandwich with 5 different cheeses, bacon and tomato served on a parmesan crusted sourdough bun and was to die for. Safe to say did not need to eat the rest of the night!

Fun place to spend some time. Brunch Food is just okay

By KrisK_8 |

Bottom line: Big restaurant that looks great. Very fun and lively Irish Bar atmosphere. I'd go back for drinks, but I'd skip the food. Food: We went for brunch and it's pretty standard fare. Some breakfast items like pancakes and omelettes plus bar food (sandwiches, fried stuff). Hollandaise for the eggs benedict was very thick and not much flavor. It was supposed to be chive, but I think they may have forgotten to add them. Breakfast potatoes were pretty good. We also had a Grilled Chicken sandwich that was a bit on the dry side, but fine. Beverage: Pretty large specialty drinks and beer menu. I would definitely come back for drinks. Atmosphere: Irish bar with an Oscar Wilde theme. Definitely the highlight of the restaurant. Service: It was friendly, but they seem to lack communication. It's someone other than the server bringing the food and they kind of hold it up and say "Who had the...?"

Surprisingly good

By Tom W |

We stopped here by accident due to an unexpected rainstorm and greatly enjoyed our meal. The Brussels sprouts were exceptional and the salads and burgers also were very good. The bar selection was perfect for my taste as well.

Great food and service

By ChipInFLL |

Good location and great menu and great service. Cocktails are small but well served. I and my friends will return again on next visit.

Creative and Delicious

By LA Art Advisor |

We had brunch here on the recommendation of our hotel concierge and it was D-Licious!!! I enjoyed the eggs florentine along with a champagne cocktail. Yum! Plus the ambience was wonderful! We found out that all of the ornate wood decor was custom carved and brought in just for the cool Oscar Wilde themed interior. Amazing!

Great Irish Pub and Food

By Charles Y |

This is an authentic Irish pub, owned by an Irishman and with Irish managers and some staff. Everyone was exceedingly friendly. The pub is beautifully decorated, with a number of beautifully separated seating areas (the library area is incredible). The food served is clearly comfort food, so come hungry and don't plan on counting carbs. They have a fantastic chicken pot pie (HUGE), shepherd pie, and other traditional dishes. I ordered an inside-out beef wellington and it was amazing. The steak was super tender. Will plan on returning when back in Chicago!

Good, Neo-Irish Bar

By MartinEldred |

Went here for a supper with adult sons. Food was excellent, service very good. Loved the "neo-pub" atmosphere--plenty of wood, books, and historic pics on walls. My hamburger (Wilde Burger) was excellent, the $1 upgrade to a pretzel bun was well worth it. Son had Turkey Chipotle Burger, which he enjoyed, his husband had Blue on Blue burger, which also very good. My wife's wrap, also great. Can get a bit noisy. Plenty of good beers and other drinks available. Prices good.

There are a lot of good things at Wilde

By Alan S |

This is a good looking Irish pub themed restaurant in a fun part of town. It was not overly noisy and we were seated on time. The apps were good especially the Brussel sprouts and Mac and Cheese. Many of our group had burgers and liked them a lot. Unfortunately I had the Shepherds Pie. It was WAY too much mashed potatoes and hardly any stew.

Chicago Favorite

By gprice8702 |

One of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. You can eat at the bar and Morris makes you feel at home . Food is always delicious and reasonably priced.

Mmmm Good

By kenp123 |

This was the first time for us at the Wilde, and I can say it will not be the last. Atmosphere, service, and food were all Mmmm Good.

Great Food!

By Karen M |

Came here to celebrate our sons 24th birthday. Came on a Friday night around 7. Had to wait about 25 minutes but it was well worth the wait! Our waitress was friendly & quick to serve us. The food is delicious and served piping hot! I had the Shepherds Pie & my son had the Chicken Pot Pie! So delicious & hot! Definitely would come back!

Great red breast (irish whiskey) couple with inside out beef wellington.

Great atmosphere. Very good food and drink. Energetic atmosphere. Much fun. Will return. Special were great.

We eat here all the time :)

We literally chose our apartment so we could be closer to Wildes. It has wonderful drinks, great menu items and good service. LOVE IT. Good atmosphere too. Great for a date night or a meeting!

My 'go-to' Lakeview restaurant/bar.

By Laura O |

Wilde has been my go-to for many years when I have friends/family/dates in Lakeview. The food is always delicious, the drinks are worth their pennies, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The staff doesn't go above and beyond, but they do their job (what more can you ask for, eh?) There is outdoor seating in the summer, which I suggest snagging if you can (I believe they accept reservations). However - the inside is lovely as well with an abundance of seating. This place gives the feeling that you're in the home of a sophisticated professor (my opinion, of course) - dark wood, fire places, bookshelves, even a section with big comfy chairs.

Disappointed

By Denise L |

Raw fries. Bones in salmon. Cold potatoes. Overdone burger. Under done brussel sprouts. We would not go back there again.

Terrific restaurant

By Denise D |

The food was great! The variety was great and so many choices it was hard to choose. Great flavor in the food and often times there was a small twist to the sandwich or meal that made it spectacular. The decor was really fun as well. There is obviously indoor seating as well as a patio. There is also seating for just drinks/coffee inside. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area.

Nice Holiday Decorations!

By CharlieV2011 |

This restaurant is perfectly decorated for the holidays with beautiful Christmas lights and cozy atmosphere! The staff were friendly during all interactions. The Shepherds Pie, french fries, and cocktails were perfect! Great place to get in the holiday spirit with friends, coworkers, and/or partner!

Delicious food close to theater

By Inspiration529530 |

Family of four walked here for Easter dinner after seeing show at Briar Street Theater. Staff was attentive and friendly. Decor is warm and charming. Every one of our meals was delicious. I selected the roasted beet salad and added salmon. It was a perfect combo of flavors with the lemon dressing highlighting all components. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable, especially given the high food quality. This was the best meal of our weekend trip to Chicago!

Great meal on NYE!

By Tyra1276 |

My husband and I stopped in for dinner prior to seeing Blue Man Group. For New Years Eve, they handled the crowds well. Quick seating, delicious drinks, dinner was wonderful. A bit pricey, but was worth it for a nice NYE dinner.

Food is fine but expensive

By UCmaroon |

I live in the neighborhood and end up at Wilde quite often. I like the place but the food is just ok and the prices are pretty high for what you get. Very cool atmosphere though and a decent English style pub to take a group to for food and drinks. Good beer selection and nice staff. Just don't expect to be wowed by the food and expect to pay more than you would like.

Great atmosphere, delicious cocktails

By Pam S |

We visited Wilde after a cubs game. It was a great atmosphere with no wait! We enjoyed our delicious drinks while snacking on cheese curds! Definitely a place to visit.

Rude bartender

By Becky S |

My husband and I sit down at the bar. Wanted to see what drinks they had to offer. Noticed a menu to the right of my husband. He grabbed it. A bartender turned his head, quickly ripped the menu out of my husband's hand and slammed it back down. He did not offer an explanation and did not offer to help us. We got up and left. No thanks....

Great Surprise in the City.

By Geri C |

We loved the atmosphere, service and food. Wilde offers outside seating, near outside seating or inside seating. Your choices are phenomenal. Our server was friendly and helpful. She gave an excellent option for the choices I asked about. One of our choices was Eggs Benedict. The eggs were not poached, they were hard boiled. The manager suggested a new plate, properly cooked or another plate. They recognized the mistake and tried to make our experience better. In the end they removed the fee from our bill. Another meal ordered was the salmon sandwich. It was perfect. I asked for well done. It was well done and seasoned to perfection. My side was a salad. Delicious. We ordered a side of biscuits and gravy. We enjoyed it. The Bloody Mary was yummy with a pickled green bean. The ice tea was great with several sweetener choices including sugar in the raw. We will return.

Great Stop in Lakeview!

By JaymePollock |

As a visitor to Chicago, I relied on my cousin's expert opinion as she is a local to the city. She enthusiastically recommended Wilde for brunch since we were in the Lakeview area. The decor is an homage to Oscar Wilde himself, with the room adorned in books and low-lighting. I ordered my go-to brunch option of Eggs Benedict and was not disappointed. The mimosas were also delicious! I definitely want to visit again next time I'm in Chi Town!

Good for a lighter meal in a relaxed setting

By David And Eugen... H |

Wilde, as in Oscar, which set the tone of the decor, kind of Edwardian. This is a very relaxed restaurant with very good service. The traditional English food (Fish and Chips) isabout right and they also have sandwiches. There is a good beer and wine menu. They also have a substantial spirits menu, which wwe did not try, tempted though it was. We returned for second dinner during our vacation in Chicago.

Excellent Service

By Tamela J |

We were scheduled to attend an event and we were running behind. Had a restaurant in mind that was too busy. So looked for another place in the neighborhood and found the Wilde. Nicole our waitress came to the table and we told her about our need to eat quickly and she accomplished this for us. Shared the Blackened chicken club with my daughter and it was fantastic. My husband had the Blue on Blue Burger---and he said it was the best burger he had in a while. We had two flights of beer which were excellent! We were served and out within 45 minutes!

Warm and Inviting Decor for Pre Theater Lunch

By Marsha McClary |

We are here before Blue Man Group. The service was perfect and atmosphere is very conducive for a nice family or semi-casual group meal. The menu is large with choices for pretty much anyone. You won't be disappointed.

Great find in Lakeview

By FlyFar01 |

Wilde is a really great restaurant that is a bit hidden in Lakeview. Service was great and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend whether if it's with friends, family, or a date! Can't wait to return again.

Great spot for dinner

By Doug C |

After earlier meal plans fell through, we stumbled across this place and it was a good find. The staff was great, the menu was definitely celiac friendly and everyone left full and happy. We’d go back if we come back to Chicago.

Evening meal with a few beers

By pathfinder010 |

Recommended by our hotel, had a really good meal, the selection of beers was Brill. Staff were excellent, very helpful with some great suggestions.

Great brunch in Chi-town

By Jr43528 |

Had brunch today at Wilde and what a great spot! Really great menu and so many good things to choose from. I went with the Grilled Scottish Salmon sandwich which was delicious! One of our companions ordered the mac and cheese which was unbelievably good (I would go back for), and we all really enjoyed our meals. Highly recommended!

Good Brunch Spot

By vox-sf |

Stopped in here on the Fourth of July for a unexpected meal. Really enjoyed it. Had eggs benedict, which is one of my favorites. The better half indulged in the fish and chips which were really good. Got a seat on the sidewalk. Great spot for people watching.

Great meal

We had an excellent dinner here one night. I had the half chicken and my wife had a fish bowl and both were delicious. One of the best meals we had in Chicago

Pot pie lover

By Paula J |

First went for lunch with a friend, next went to dinner with my family. I was very surprised to find out it's a very good restaurant. Definitely recommend for chicken pot pie and (when available on their specials) trout almandine.

Nice place for an afternoon brew, or an evening meal.

By 949randallb |

We actually went twice, once the afternoon we arrived for a beer whilst scouting the area, and out last night in town after a long day of sightseeing. A fairly large establishment featuring a good choice of beverages and a fairly typical Irish pub type menu. The crowd on Friday night was large and quite diverse. We had fish and chips, and the meatloaf. Both were well prepared and tasty, without being outstanding. The meatloaf was a tad bland for my tastes. The cheese/artichoke dip was excellent. Service was very good and it fits the bill for a nice pub meal.

Great atmosphere and delicious food.

By swonk |

This restaurant is more that pub-grub. It's all delicious. Parking was pretty easy for lunch. Staff was friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and portion size.

Outside patio

By missie A |

Enjoyed taking in the neighborhood sites while visiting friends and they suggested this restaurant. Walking there as it was a nice fall day and we were seated right away. Food selection on Sunday was brunch but they also had burgers, salad and sandwiches which were done to perfection. Wait staff were great and turkey burger was very moist along with huge onion rings. Bloody Mary's with a beer chaser was appealing as well. Home cut fries and portions were substantial. Prices were good.

March 4, 2017 Visit

By Harold S |

First visit to Wilde and must say I was not impressed with the overall experience. Restaurant was very crowded and the two ladies serving as hostesses must have had a bad day as they were short and bordered on being rude to guest as they came in to check on a table. We were told that the wait was about 45 minutes so we left and came back at the suggested time. It was cold outside and we wanted to wait inside but the area available to wait was very small and congested. Half of our party went to the bar for beverages so the remainder of the group waited up front. We wee seated in about 15 minutes and given a semi-circle booth for seven people. Seating was crowded but we decided to make the best of it. Our server came over within five minutes after we were seated and took our drink orders. Another wait staff brought out water and placed the seven glasses on the table along with silverware and napkins, which pretty much filled up our semi-circle when four of our party had beverages from the bar on table. Our orders were taken quickly and relatively smoothly except the server did not know there a difference between brown mustard, spicy mustard and yellow mustard. One member of our party wanted brown mustard and she kept saying all we have is ordinary yellow spicy mustard. Orders for five of our party came quickly and were prepared correctly. Within five to seven minutes the other two members of our party received their orders. The server attempted to move some of the glasses out of the way and sent two glasses flying across the table and the contents of both a Sprite and a water landed in my lap. She apologized half-heartedly and handed me three paper napkins which were useless with the amount of liquid on my pants. I told her I needed cloth napkins so several members of our party gave me their cloth dinner napkins. I dried off as best I could and tried to enjoy my dinner. We had to ask her to bring us more cloth napkins for our dinner and I had to ask her to bring me another Sprite since I was wearing the first one she brought me. When the check was brought to our table the bill was incorrect as she had put the orders from the bar, which were paid for when ordered, on the tab. padding the bill by about $50.00. When asked about it at first she acted surprised and confused on why it was on the bill. She never admitted to padding the bill or any responsibility for the mistake but did rerun the bill and brought back a corrected bill. As far as her turning water and Sprite into my lap she did not take anything off the bill, ask if she could pay the dry cleaning bill, or make any gesture toward her mistake of turning over the two glasses nor did any member of management come over to check or offer an apology. Not sure I would ever return when visiting Chicago.

Everything is Delicious

By ChgoLvr2 |

We are always pleased with the selections and quality of the food at Wilde. I am positively delighted by the number of gluten-free options. You wouldn't believe what a treat it is to get a simple sandwich because gluten-free bread is an option. The service was great. The servings are large and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. This truly is a neighborhood gem.

One of best bars in Chicago

By friarweisse |

The best burger I've ever had in a bar. Staff are exceptional professional and friendly . It's an Irish bar but in the modern design . Great lighting which makes it feel warm as soon as you walk in . .

Great atmosphere and good food

Love the decor, felt like being in Ireland. Bartender very nice, great curry chips and large beer selection.

English Pub in Lakeview - Great Food!

By Jewelsworld |

We went to Wilde Bar to celebrate a couple of New Year's Day birthdays. It was our first time there in spite of it being exactly a block and a half from my daughter's apartment and we were really pleased with just about every aspect of our evening. I made a reservation for our party of seven but somehow they had down that we were only six so we ended up squeezed in around a large round table when a couple tables put together might have been a bit roomier. We didn't mind at all - much better for talking and sharing bites of our great food choices. We heard that the Chicken Pot Pie was awesome and it is! We also had the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich with Tomato-Basil Soup - another good choice! The burgers are great though my daughter thought the bison burger wasnt quite as awesome as the Wilde Burger. We started with the Artichoke Cheddar Dip - great blend of flavors and gone in a heart beat. Yum! We also ordered sweet potato fries. They were served with Maple Syrup and we all decided that from now on, when we make these at home, we are serving them with maple syrup. Wow! One of our party also had Shepherd's Pie and gave it five stars. We had two birthdays and our waiter brought out two huge and delicious flourless chocolate cakes for us to share served with a lovely melba sauce and whipped cream. We had two members of our party - one born in England and one who lived in England for a while and they both thought Wilde Bar had great authentic English Pub food. Since we were there right after Christmas, the holiday decorations were still up and the environment was really beautifully ambient. Loved it. Our only complaint is that it was a chilly night and we were a little too close to the front door which as the restaurant got busier, ended up being held open by people waiting to be seated. Since the door is right next to the hostess stand, I think the hostesses should have been more on top of the door situation for the comfort of the seated guests. Other than that, it was a five-star evening!

Great upscale casual place!

By arsoftness |

I really enjoyed eating here! Relaxing ambiance, great bar, great food. I loved my burger, and my friends loved their soups and salads. Easy to get to, and awesome service. Also loved the affordable prices. The delicious mashed potatoes made my meal fabulous.

Great atmosphere and food

By Rvanthof |

I love this place in cold weather. Dark paneling, cozy library feel. Named after Oscar Wilde this restaurant has cute little booths and small tables by the library fire. The menu boosts an ever changing beer menu on tap and the oven chicken with mash potatoes is not be missed

Great Buddha Bowl!

By Kim K |

Crowded on Saturday night so we ate in the bar. GREAT Buddha Bowl full of veggies. One of us had salmon and one blackened shrimp on it. Salmon was cooked perfectly.

Great food, cute restaurant

By Teri |

Every dish I've had here is great. I feel comfortable dining solo, meeting friends, or taking family from out of town here. The atmosphere can be casual but also appropriate for a nice dinner out.

Oscar Would be Proud!

By RoyboyIII |

Great find on North Halstead. All the classic bar food/midlevel restaurant items -- burgers, salads, and an extensive beer/bar menu. Brunch on the weekends, lunch or dinner are all well represented with great menu options. The ambiance is very 20s with a fireplace, library seating and dark interior. Outside seating is also available. This is your classic, neighborhood Chicago bar/restaurant. Definitely a place to stop by and enjoy!

Delicious food and beautiful bar and restaurant

By eltup |

We enjoyed the interesting decor in this restaurant. We were there for St. Patricks Day so they offered some Irish specials and items off the regular menu. A DJ was playing music which added to the fun experience. Great food and service!

Wild About This Place!

By dmblnd74 |

Atmosphere, service, drink and menu options - all impressive and worth stoping in. They have a variety of meals for different dietary needs. Drinks were crafted well and delicious. Service was outstanding. We were able to sit in the "library", which made for cozy and enjoyable family dinner.

Friendliest waitress

Great food and service!! what else needs to be said?! It is one is if liveliest places in Chicago! A definite must for a fabulous dinner!

Best Pub Around

By David H |

Just a great place to meet friends, have dinner or do some serious drinking. Becoming more popular and crowded, especially on weekends. The best Sunday brunch around. Very friendly wait staff. Reasonably priced menu and drinks. We've been here many times and always had great food and a good time.

Great atmosphere

By flyairdave |

I now live near Wilde and this is just the second time I have been here. The interior is much like the great pubs in Europe, but with better food and service. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. (Please don't tell my cardiologist.) It was almost too rich, but goo. My sister had the Rosemary and Garlic 1/2 Chicken and it was fantastic. The food is slightly overpriced, but the drinks are decent for Chicago prices.

Top! And reasonable pricing.

By StoffHub |

We found this restaurant by coincidence during a bicycle trip and really loved the place, the flowers at the terrace, the friendly service and the excellent breakfast.

Outstanding!

By D3Denise |

Loved everything about this delightful pub from tasteful holiday decor to delicious beet and goat cheese appetizer, hot and hearty chicken pot pie, fresh and zesty Buddha Bowl with blackened salmon and fun, friendly vibe. Definitely recommend!

Nice neighborhood pub

By jennygirl57 |

Staying in Lakeview/Lincoln Park area and met son for lunch at Wilde. Nice atmosphere, friendly professional staff, inviting ambiance. Has appearance of Irish pub crossed with a library in a private home, with pictures, quotes from Oscar W. Open air in the front to enjoy the warm spring weather. We shared an array of small plates: flatbread, mac and cheese, warm beet salad, and kalbi chicken wings. Very good lunch. Am planning to return soon for dinner and some refreshing adult beverages.

Be sure to order the chicken pot pie

By Taylor B |

In our quest to discover the best chicken pot pie in Chicago, my wife and I stumbled up Wilde Bar & Restaurant by accident. Located at 3130 North Broadway, south of Belmont, in the Lakeview neighborhood, it is a literary-themed, upscale Irish pub with leather banquettes and one food critic's opinion for having the second best chicken pot pie in Chicago. We had to find out for ourselves. Open from noon to 12:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 1 a.m. on Friday, 11 to 1 a.m. on Saturday and 11 to midnight on Sunday, Wilde offers a wonderful menu of Irish favorites. we started with tomato basil soup, a half slab of backyard BBQ ribs and a chopped salad with romaine, egg, American bacon, rotisserie chicken, onion, tomato, white cheddar cheese, whole grain croutons and garlic dill dressing. Bring on the chicken pot pie with rotisserie chicken, onions, celery, carrots, peas, potatoes, chicken cream gravy and pastry crust. As good as advertised. My wife was delighted with the grilled Scottish salmon with mashed potatoes, sauteed brussels sprouts and lemon beurre blanc. For dessert, we shared a huge portion of key lime pie. Wilde's menu also features fish and chips with fresh haddock and tartar sauce, a Classic Burger with lettuce, tomato, caramelized onions, cherrywood smoked bacon and Irish cheddar cheese on a butter bun and a Reuben with molasses glazed corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut and 1,000 Island dressing on dark rye.

Chicken Pot Pie!

By ChiGuyJon |

Dinner with friends, group of 4. Attentive friendly efficient service but the chicken pot pie was the star of the night. My friend had the rosemary chicken and said it was prepared absolutely perfect. Wilde has a nice selection of draft beers that change throughout the year. Wilde gets busy in the evening so feel free to enjoy a drink at the bar while waiting. Definitely recommend!

Dinner for Six

By Alamills |

We were going to the Blue Man Group show nearby. As Wilde offers a 10% discount if you show your tickets, we decided to have dinner there first. In general all was good. Nothing was really overly noteworthy except for the service. The waitress that served us was super - kind and patient. The ambiance was comfortable and well-spaced. There are lots of places like this one ... it doesn't really standout.

Excellent mashed potatoes, a killer grilled cheese and a well-cooked burger...

By Kerry M |

We ducked in out of the cold and were delighted by the fireplace, the cavernous space, the lovely staff. The food was pretty good, too.

Casual but classy. Good food

By Kevin S |

We came here for dinner one night, and this is a very nice, casual bar/restaurant. We sat in some comfortable chairs around a somewhat lower table, which was actually a nice setting. For my meal, I had the buffalo wings, an order of brussel sprouts, and a beer. The wings and brussel sprouts were both very good, and they had a good number of interesting beers on tap. Good service, and overall a very nice dining experience.

Great atmosphere

By GoIllini888 |

Stopped by the Wilde and was blown away by the decor. The dark stained woodwork and fireplaces were amazing. I had a Wilde burger with some whiskey glaze. It was alright but not exceptional. The service was acceptable. I would give it another try if I was in the neighborhood again. Parking nearby was very difficult to find - locals will know this but out-of-towners may not.

An efervescent classic

By IvyCassa |

In addition to having a literary touch for being inspired by the works of Oscar Wilde, it has a charm that starts from comfortable tables and has its peak point in cocktails. A salve to apple with vodka and caramel. 🙏🏻🙌🏻👍🏻 The grilled salmon is also to be eaten by praying - it would only suggest the exchange of Brussels cabbage for a spinach cream, which is less indigestive.

We just keep going back

By Marinerette |

I visit Chicago every year and Wildes is a must. Whether it's Brunch, Lunch or a cocktail with nibbles we always fit in a number of visits to Wildes. The service is friendly, efficient and the food fabulous. The burgers are the best, and with sweet potato fries with a pot of warm maple syrup to dip into we are hooked.

Fabulous!

Gorgeous food and great value! Such a lovely atmosphere and service! Spotlessly clean! Great place for food and a few drinks!

Great Irish bar food; sizable portions

By PADiamond |

We all enjoyed our meal. Chicken pot pie, fish and chips and mac-n-cheese were outstanding. Salmon, burger and fries were very good. A little pricey, but at least it doesn't take itself too seriously. Friendly service. Ask top be seated outside or by the windows during nice weather.

Excellent food - wonderful atmosphere!

Love this place. Visit it often when we are in Chicagoland. Never had a disappointing meal. There is such a great variety of options - you can find something for everyone. French Onion soup is tops! We've recommended it often.

bring your bf, gf, family.. whomever!

Awesome selection of beers and cocktails. the appetizers were great --- we ordered the spinach artichoke dip and their soup was great!! as a vegetarian, there were plenty of delicious options. i went with the buddha bowl!

Cozy atmosphere at my neighborhood restaurant

By Tantra Butterfly |

I arrived here on a Tuesday evening alone and went to the hostess stand to be seated but she seemed a little confused as to what I wanted till I told her I was dining in. Perhaps she assumed I ordered takeout 🥡 but she directed me to a tiny table at the end next to a father seated with his child. I figured it might get a bit claustrophobic so I requested a more comfortable table just three seats away from them so they could have their privacy and I'd be more cozy. My waitress introduced herself to me right away and I didn't request a menu because I really wanted to try their version of a Ceasar salad. I kind of wish I had scanned their menu code because she went through the 3 tiers of caesar salad 🥗 too rapidly and suggested I also choose a protein to go with the knife 🔪 and fork 🍴 version of their caesar salad. She of course suggested the two most expensive 🙄 proteins without even mentioning tofu so between the shrimp 🍤 or the chicken 🐔 or salmon I decided on the blackened salmon since I wanted to keep my salad 🥗 healthy. Bread doesn't accompany the salad however so when I asked if bread could be added my server suggested a roll for an additional $2 so I decided against it. Now to describe the salad 🥗 itself. The romaine lettuce was cut in long wedges and grilled and there was a sprinkling of cheese 🧀 at the top shredded into slivers instead of large pieces. The salmon was burned 🔥 but still tasty. I was extremely disappointed that there weren't any hard boiled eggs or anchovies and instead of bold croutons they gave me four thinly sliced toasted slices of sourdough. I found out later my bill came out to $30 plus tip for an extremely expensive caesar salad 🥗 and 1 lemonade. It really felt like I had been hustled by my server so she could get me to spend the most amount of money 💰 for a salad. If I could do a redo I would have picked their traditional caesar salad without a protein added and that way I would have spent much less money on just 1 salad. The couple who were seated next to me chose mussels which come with bread 🍞 and their meal looked way better than mine and they spent much less money 💰 than I did. It would have been nice to receive complimentary bread 🍞 especially since the croutons tend to be the best part of a caesar salad 🥗 and their version wasn't as exciting or tasty. I guess because I'm a carb junkie the lack of croutons and bread 🍞 really bothered me. In summary I was definitely disappointed in my selection. It was the most expensive salad 🥗 I'd ever ordered in my life and definitely not as creative as I would have liked especially since anchovies are usually included as a major ingredient in most authentic caesar salads. The atmosphere here is casual and comfortable and everything is decorated and painted in a brown motif. It's a very "masculine" vibe a place where people tend to order fancy beers 🍻 and cocktails with their friends. I would definitely come back in the future but only for macaroni and cheese or some other dish like chicken 🐔 pot pie 🥧 or shepherds pie. The caesar salad 🥗 felt underwhelming and incomplete but I'm a foodie and maybe my standards are higher. I suggest you peruse the menu very carefully before ordering so you don't end up overspending beyond your means. In summary this is a cozy spot for couples 💑 or family. But as a single woman dining alone I wasn't happy that the hostess initially tried seating me next to a father dining alone with his ten year old son when there were so many other nice tables not too far away. I'm relieved though that the hostess let me choose my own seat further away from them because the child got much louder and honestly they needed their privacy. It wasn't super crowded and I've no clue why the hostess wanted me seated next to them. This restaurant is better suited for couples who want to enjoy fancy cocktails and split appetizers. I would label this place as an upscale and intimate setting for casual bar food and fancy pub beers 🍻 I wouldn't call the food itself super fancy but the prices were set higher than the norm. My caesar salad 🥗 was a disappointment. I was charged a lot of money but several key ingredients were lacking. I'd prefer coming back here again for more traditional Irish fare.

A Restaurant For Readers

By marjohnal |

People that like to read love books and love being surrounded by books. So when asked if I wanted to sit in the 'library' section of Wilde, OF COURSE! So ambiance for me was heaven..esp. when I saw several books on the shelves that were on mine. Mother's Day early dinner for four, attentive and friendly service, great food and drinks. While Irish in theme, there is enough variety on the menu for every taste. Will visit again...maybe next time the kids will pay...:-)

Just right

By Skoneal90 |

Good food, fair service. Irish music, food, and drink. All good. Two bars and a library section. Sunday brunch.

Where to go after the Art Fair

By DON_2013_CR |

Enjoyed volunteering at the annual community art fair and were looking for a nice place to sit outdoors and have a relaxing dinner. Just up the street is Wilde, an Irish pub with an excellent menu. After a chilled martini, we enjoyed some fresh fish, accompanied by fresh steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. While we watched the folks passing by from the art fair, we especially liked seeing the families with little children passing by. The apple crumble with ice cream was a great finish, along with some coffee. Summertime in the city doesn't get much better than this.

Great atmosphere

By loriar |

Found the restaurant while walking in the neighborhood near our hotel. What a great restaurant! The staff very helpful and very attentive. We loved the atmosphere, and the food & drink selections. When our server found out that we were on our honeymoon, brought us a complimentary dessert. Definitely will be back, next time in Chicago.

Great service and food and atmosphere

By mbullett |

Let me put it this way.....we are in Chicago for four nights and we ate here twice! Inside atmosphere on a snowy, yukky night was wonderful. We were seated by a fireplace and just loved the whole ambience of the place. Our server was attentive and courteous. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup was outrageously good. Shepard pie was huge! It warmed up for our second visit and we sat on the sidewalk. New server, same attention and curtesy. We each had a burger that was huge and done to protection. The fries were plentiful and crispy. Over the two visits we sampled four different desserts. All were a good size and yummy! Will visit again next time in Chicago.

Great late night spot

By KevinMY |

We visited this bar/restaurant around 11pm on Saturday night after Lollapolooza. It was perfect. Great drinks on special and a perfect spot to end the night after a long day in the sun. I had the burger. Cooked perfectly, great toppings (thin cut onion and tomato) and great fresh cut fries on the side. Would definitely visit again soon! Service could have been improved, but heck it was 11 at night.

Very, VERY Good

By LSweany |

Found Wilde's when we were searching for a restaurant near Blue Man Group. It was just two blocks away. The service was very good, the food excellent, and the ambiance fabulous. The best Shepard's Pie ever!

Why would you not go?

By Jeff L |

I had the pleasure of dining here for 5 different brunches, all A +. It's the unique environment of a bar / restaurant / library / university themed establishment. The menu, most important - vast, secure and so popular, everyone's tongue will enjoy the ride. Awesome different mimosa's. Want to view street culture on Broadway, get a 2 or 4 top table near the sidewalk or on it, otherwise larger tables are a little more inside, but with the big open deck, everyone is a winner. This restaurant makes your meal unique and cool, different options for sides, ways of cooking your food, it's all good. And, the music is mainstream so everyone enjoys the tunes. Fun all around, fill your soul and stomach. Go!

Near Blue Man Group

By Grandmoose |

We selected this place because it was two blocks away from the Briar Street Theater where we were going to see the Blue Man Group. It is in a lovely neighborhood and the inside of the restaurant is beautiful. One section of the dining area looks like a library. I enjoyed reading the Oscar Wilde quotes on the menu while selecting my meal. I chose a chop salad with a roasted garlic and dill dressing. Yum! The portion was large and the prices were reasonable. Our server, Molly, was a delight. She was friendly and helpful in answering questions about the food. We splurged on dessert here and was not disappointed. We walked the two blocks over to the theater on a tree lined street and enjoyed looking at the well kept homes in this area.

A Wilde meal!

Irish-Inspired Goodness in Chicago's North Side

By Justin B |

This Lakeview staple is just great all the way around. The warm and cozy atmosphere makes you feel extremely comfortable, despite the fact that it's a pretty big place. Yes, it is a little on the expensive side but I think the quality of the food is worth it. I've eaten here maybe 20+ times in the four years I've lived here and never had a bad meal. (I have no idea why I'm just writing a review now!) The menu is chock full of hearty Irish-inspired dishes, so don't come here looking for a "light meal". Although, they have added more salads to their menu, so you could definitely find something. If you're in this kind of mood, the steakhouse salad and roasted beet salad are highly recommended. Want some soup? Get the seafood chowder. It's pretty awesome. They're burgers are juicy and done well. They're served on a pretzel roll, which is awesome in and of itself. Build your own or get the Bison Burger (veggie options available). Want a sandwich? Don't ask me. Admittedly, I've never had any of their sandwich selections. This place has too many other tasty items on the menu. Go big or go home!! NOW, for the good stuff. Saddle up, because these hearty selections are so worth the calories and are perfect for a autumn or winter meal. Order any of these and you will NOT be disappointed. 1) Colwater lobster mac and cheese - decadent (enough said) 2) Chicken pot pie - fluffy puff pastry on top of chicken goodness 3) Shepards pie - yummy mashed potatoes on top of hearty beef stew If here for brunch, make sure to grab a side of cheese grits. You won't be disappointed. They also have, in my opinion, one of the best bloody mary's in the city. Street parking can be tight in this area of town but there are a couple of garages close by. If taking public transport, the 36 Broadway bus can get you right there. The Red Line, 151, 146 and 136 buses are also close.

Excellent ambience, excellent local beer, good food

By Emmjayess |

The staff, ambience and beer were all excellent. The booths near the back are nice and cozy. I visited twice, I liked this place so much. The food is good, though the selection is a bit limited. Do yourself a favour and get the brussels sprouts. They are insanely good (bacon, maple and cheese - ye gods).

Really good food, drink and ambience

By farnal |

Self-billed as an “Upscale Irish Bar and Restaurant”, Wlde is aptly named for Oscar Wilde, the flamboyant Irish writer and poet. Filled with wood, leather, cozy nooks and quotations, the décor is warm, comfortable and inviting. It was especially nice on a cold evening in December with a glowing fireplace with Dickensian holly and lights everywhere. Reservations are only accepted for six or more so it can be a challenge to get seated. You wait in the crowded foyer or the bar area but it moves along and the mood is festive. Noise level is high but somehow seems appropriate. Servers are bustling and very friendly. Our server, Vanesa, was charming, familiar with the menu (both food and bar) and very patient with us. The menu includes an assortment of comfort foods (chicken, meat loaf, pot pies, and fish) that have been elevated by the addition of creative sides or ingredients. Lump crab cakes are accompanied by Arugula, blackened pear and remoulade. Delicious. The salmon for both entrees and sandwiches is impeccable Scottish Salmon; the haddock is line-caught. Cold-water lobster and truffle cream are in the mac and cheese. Clearly there is a chef in house. You choose from an assortment of small or large plates, burgers, sandwiches, salads and sides. There is an amazing list of craft and imported beers, more than eighty whiskies as well as a reserve wine list. Cocktails and wines by the glass are available in large and small sizes which can be a bit pricey. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our food. Wilde is a welcoming neighborhood pub with above-average food, drink and ambience.

Fantastic vibe - excellent brunch!

By Gerard O |

You've heard that it's the little things that make a big difference. Well, Wilde covers the big things that a restaurant need to but its the little things that make it special. Went to Sunday brunch and was greeted warmly at the door. No reservation and was seated immediately. Waiter was very friendly and knowledgable. Took our drink orders and also delivered a plate of small apple cinnamon muffins (little thing... but delicious). Delivered the bloodies with a shortie beer on the side (little thing... but again, nice touch). Food menu had lots of choices and we ordered a number of them, all delicious. Finished with a whisky flight. Would not hesitate to come back here and will look forward to a trip back here for dinner. The place has great ambiance, good size bar with seating, and even a library!

Great Space and Neighborhood

By scorpio5 |

We ate here after a day at Wrigley—great space, still COVID aware and felt safe. We were seated at the front, and it was cold and the biggest pain was people standing in the foyer holding the door open to the outside/wind. That was a pain, and hey...just trying to be part of the solution! Food was very good: we shared small plates and had drinks; recommend the BBQ ribs, wings, Mac and cheese and cheddar artichoke dip—all very tasty and filling. The ribs are very tender, falling apart! Makes me want to get a full order next time! You will love this place!

Be sure to save room for the desserts

By Taylor B |

When my wife and I are out dining, the last thing we usually think about are the desserts. Sometimes we skip them altogether. There are good desserts and there are great desserts, like chocolate souffle. And everybody has their own version of tiramisu and creme brulee and key lime pie, right? But dessert at Wilde Bar & Restaurant is a special treat, one not to be avoided. There are six choices on the menu, every one a difference-maker. There's only one problem: You can't eat them all at once. We chose the sticky toffee pudding and the home-made mint ice cream on an Oreo cookie crust with Belgian chocolate sauce. Next time we'll have to sample the apple crumble or chocolate pecan toffee tarte or blueberry peach crisp or Ginny's toffee sundae. I can't remember the last time, if ever, that I started a review by praising the desserts. But chef Henry Pariser has formulated a delicious menu at his upscale Irish pub. Located at 3130 North Broadway in the Lakeview neighborhood, Wilde Bar & Restaurant matches its menu with a luxurious ambience. Named after the Irish wit Oscar Wilde, whose "Love and Gluttony justify everything" saying is the pub's motto, Wilde features leather banquettes and an extensive bar list and an everything-you-can-think-of menu. To get to the desserts, we started with Buffalo hot wings, tomato basil soup and Caesar salad. We chose two big plates, fish and chips and country chicken pot pie, and I added a Haddock sandwich for good measure. I had read an article which rated Wilde's chicken pot pie among the best in the Chicago area so I was anxious to make my own evaluation. Filled with chicken, carrots, peas and onions and topped with a fluffy pastry shell, it was as good as advertised. And I still had room for those wonderful desserts. Wilde's menu also includes some other show-stoppers, including Wilde's Shepherd's pie, roasted garlic chicken, Scottish salmon, cold water lobster with mac and cheese, meatloaf, the Ultimate grilled cheese sandwich, the Reuben and the Classic Burger. I'm told Wilde's brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 2 is one of the best in town, especially the traditional Eggs Benedict. Whatever you do, however, don't pass up dessert.

A good place to eat for an appropiate price

By Patrick J |

What is good about this place is not only that the food is good but that they have a variety . It is not the same menu as everyone else has. The potato leek soup was fine but their special desert was unusual and fine. It is worth a visit. On the weekends they have brunch and that adds more choices. My waiyer helped me to choose and all of his advice was good.

Excellent

By Kelly1 |

Stumbled across this place after a long walk Although it was busy on a Sunday afternoon providing brunch service was excellent for two tired walkers new into the city.Food amazing and a great selection of beers. Well informed staff regarding the city and architecture city cruise amazing following recommendation One to recommend !

Food was very good.

By jfurukaw |

Tried several dishes and they were all good. Chicken pot pie and Reuben sandwich were excellent. Some of the best I have had. Food traveled well as we had it delivered. We are not that far away, so that may have helped. Well packaged and nothing missing.

Warm cozy atmosphere with fantastic food

By Kyle R |

Have been here a few times with friends and family and the food, service and atmosphere have never failed. Such a nice place to relax and have some great food and drinks. The chicken pot pie is out of this world and a huge portion with a flakey crust on top. Have also had there mouthwatering burger and skillet Mac and cheese which were both very tasty. Looking forward to enjoying there sidewalk patio this summer. Does tend to get busier on weekends but haven't waited for a table longer than 20 minutes. Highly recommend!!'

Great food, nice atmosphere

Stopped in for a late night, light dinner after a long day. The flatbreads and salads we ordered were excellent. They even ha veggitarian and glueten free menus.

Love The Decor!

By Stephanie C |

I really loved the decor in this place! The Oscar Wilde theme is a nice touch. It feels like your sitting right in the middle of a library. I was there for Sunday Brunch and ordered the brioche French toast with vanilla cream. I will be back!

Never had a bad meal here yet!

By Fernando C |

This is a neighborhood gem, I see why this place is usually full. Ive been here several times and I just love their food. This is one of the few places that offers a buffalo chicken sandwich that is just awesome! Another favorite of mine is a curried soup they have that is so good I can taste now. The wait times are always reasonable and the staff is always smiling and happy despite their workload.

Best gluten free brunch ever!

By Patrick D |

Great location. The staff is very nice. If you can't eat gluten this is a great place to go. The staff is aware and they offer many gluten free options. I was there for brunch and had very GF French toasts. This made my day!

Warm, Comfortable and Inviting

By Aaron M |

Visiting our Daughter and wanted to take her to a nice restaurant for supper. We were promptly greeted and chose to set by the fireplace since it was cold out. The décor was very nice with lot's of wood tones and a library setting towards the back. The waitress was very friendly and was always there to fill the water and tea. The average dinner prices were about $14.00 and everything we had was delicious and filling. The fish and chips were comparable to the ones I had in England. Worth the stop.

Cozy Irish Pub

By Aaron G |

-Cozy Irish pub--great atmosphere with dark wood paneling, fire places, and even an old library area. There's lots of Oscar Wilde and other Irish-related paraphernalia. -The place is always decked out for the holidays--tons of lights, wreaths, and other Christmas decorations. And of course they have all the fire places going. -All the staff are always extremely warm and friendly. -They poor a great classic pint of Guinness. -Extensive menu with lots of pub standbys. They also have great specials for the holidays--we especially enjoyed the bison pot roast and beef Wellington. You can definitely get some hearty stick-to-your-bones fare for a cold winter's night. -We tried a peppermint ice cream pie for dessert--and it was the perfect way to end our holiday meal.

So so so good

The restaurant was amazing. Service was top notch. Mimosas were to die for. Prices not bad. We went for brunch before a theater show. Thank you for such a great time!

A "Go To Pub" for Friends and Families

By DON_2013_CR |

What used to be a hardware store is now tranformed into a beautiful, paneled Irish Pub. The owner, an experienced restauranteur, invested himself and considerable funds to create a most welcoming pub for friends and families. There are both small and large booths, tables that can be placed together for large groups, or separated for small groups, and spaces ranging from near the fireplaces, to a bookshelf lined space called "the Library". The food, however, goes beyond pub fare. Winter features home style chicken pot pie and beef stew. Year-round favrorites are juicy, top quality burgers, as well as seafood specials such as glazed salmon(which I often order with a pretzel roll for a Great sandwich!). The weekend brunches are excellent. The full bar features a large selection of craft, imported and domestic brews. Friendly and knowledgable waitstaff are always ready with a suggestion for those wanting to try something new or different. Finally, warm weather brings outdoor tables, shaded by umbrellas, to watch the parade of people at this busy urban oasis.

Low key late night outing for DESSERT!

By DGainer |

Great atmosphere and ambiance for a late night treat. We enjoyed the crab cakes and asparagus for a light starter, but it was really about the Reese's skillet cookie and key lime pie. Both were really wonderful treats.

Fun place, would try again

By Julie E |

Nice, very busy place. Roast chicken, preserved lemon flatbread was boring, blackened chicken club was better. Beer flights were mixed up, so we never really knew what we were drinking. But our waiter was really nice! Would go back, just would order something else. Good beer list.

Fish and Chips, steak and cobler.

By Rolf A |

Wilde serves a decent fish and chips but their three flour batter goes unnoticed. A fine strip steak was to my taste mismatched with sweet potatoes and long, stingy broccoli. For dessert, the apple cobbler was tasty but over sweet and the apple chunks lacked subtlety. Thin apple slices would have given more flavor and been more subtle.

Terrific Neighborhood Place

By Kathryn J |

This very large and busy restaurant serves very good food. The decor is warm and welcoming. When we were there on a Friday night, it was jammed and the noise level was pretty high, so perhaps this is not the best for romantic dinners. I had the Ruben sandwich and my husband had the chicken pot pie, and both were very good. The only thing I could quarrel with was the cole slaw, which I found pretty ordinary. But, we'll definitely be returning. The service was pleasant and efficient.

Great food and service

By Joan M |

Went here for lunch after walking by it while visiting in Lakeside Lincoln park Chicago. Decor is beautiful dark paneling with a library room, full bar, sliding doors opening to street and also sidewalk bistro tables, flowers and shade umbrellas. Vibe is casual and relaxed. Food is great I had haddock fried sandwich with Irish cheddar cheese melted on pretzel bun. Great place for a beer or drinks with friends!!

Great food and service in an interesting setting

By Asian_Delight_10 |

Food was excellent with attentive staff in a very lovely setting. It's all Christmasy with lights and has a little library nook with 4 tables away from the main dining area and bar. Overall warm decor and interesting pictures and things to look at. Would come back again and again to try multiple items on the menu. The key lime pie for dessert was fantastic!

One of my favorite places but… Really?

By TommyORD |

So, I love this place. Generally speaking the food is always good and the service is usually acceptable to very good. Tonight I came into the restaurant and asked for a quiet table. My first suggestion was the library area where it's generally a little quieter but the hostess said no that's full. Then I suggested the back of the bar where, again, it's usually a little quieter but the hostess said no that's full. I finally said guess what - I'd like a quiet table what do you suggest? Really? She couldn't figure that out on her own. In the end, I was seated near the fireplace in the front and it was reasonably quiet. Just wish - as a regular customer - I didn't have to beg.

My go-to neighborhood place

By Tigger1971 |

If you want great comfort food, friendly service and a warm atmosphere any day of the week in Lakeview, this is the place. From the lobster mac and cheese to the steakhouse salad to the chicken pot pie, you can count on your entree being delicious. And if you're lucky, you can get a table with comfy chairs by the library's fireplace on a cold winter day. Their craft beer and wine flights are nice too, as is the brunch menu. In addition, they offer unique sides like edamame and black bean salad and herbed quinoa salad when you don't want fries. My friends and I meet here often.

Nice Place

By wildlifeship |

Service was good. Nice outside and inside seating. I got the fish and chips which I felt was decent.

Usually Better

By twolarrys |

Stopped by for lunch today (1pm on a Monday with few customers.) Disappointed with the Reuben sandwich -- very dry. Both it and the fries appear to have been reheated. Fish & Chips and Chicken Pot Pie are popular on the menu. Lively place in the evenings and on weekends.

Excellent for other reasons

By Matt59 |

Wilde is a unique place with an incredible atmosphere. Even if not dining, enjoy a drink in the space. The decor is luxurious but tasteful. The service is extremely relaxed and friendly. The food isn't gourmet but wonderful interpretations of bar food and other favorites like Shepard's Pie. Wilde is a treasure that we would not have known about except for the concierge in our building. Affordable and reasonable pricing. Two beautiful antique bars and many other pieces of architectural salvage all designed to look natural and authentic.

Recommindation was perfect!

By Travelingbug29 |

I just wanted a piece of Chicago steak and the waitress gave me the perfect recommendation. I got the rib eye and it was fantastic. The atmosphere was beautiful. I found out all the wood there is hand carved and it shows. Prices were reasonable for a steak house.

Great afternoon late lunch

By Alex C |

We visit Wilde at least once a month, as you see we really enjoy this restaurant, the food has always been very good, the service prompt and friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and the big booths comfy! And they make a nice cocktail!

Lets Get WILDE!!

By Dude Man |

Great burgers, salads, wings, sandwiches, and appetizers! Cool atmosphere in here! It is themed like a swanky library bar! Really good sophisticated bar pub food! The bar menu always has good beers rotating on tap! My wife loves this bar for food! Her favorite meal is the caesar salad. The brunch is outstanding at Wilde!

Cozy, Friendly, and Delicious!

We were referred to Wilde after enjoying some wine and cheese at Pastoral down the street. Wanted to watch the rest of the Cavs game. Wilde is a very cozy atmosphere. A beautiful Irish library themed pub. Fireplaces , books, very cozy! We sat and enjoyed beverages at the bar while watching the game. Decided to stay for a bite and ordered the curried mussels. The best plump and mildly spiced curried mussels. Amazing sauce ! Wood fired flavor.the best mussels ever!! Definitely will be coming back ! Extremely friendly staff!

Cool Place

By Mark R |

My wife and I were headed to a show at the Vic. We had limited time but wanted to eat at a nice restaurant. We asked the hostess if it would be possible to get food quickly enough to make it to our show. Both the food and the service were great.

Fun times

By steelersbabe |

The atmosphere here is great. Enjoyed our dinner and drinks very much. Our waiter was great but I can't remember his name.

Great brunch

By Diane K |

We enjoyed our brunch on a Sunday. We ate inside in a cozy seating area by the fireplace. They brought out some complimentary banana bread while we were figuring out what to order. I had the Eggs Benedict and my husband had the Denver Omelet. Both were a nice side - not too gigantic. I had mine with fresh fruit which was a nice variety of raspberries, strawberries, pineapple and melon. Price was reasonable too for Chicago. Our waiter was very efficient and friendly.

A Wilde And Hoarse Time

By SUBZEROSKIDD10 |

Our first night in Chicago and my sister brought us here because it's one of her favorite places. While at Wilde's we could clearly see why the young clientele enjoy it: the dark and noisy climate made it feel more like a club than a dining restaurant. In my opinion the noise level was too high and distracting to even hold conversations. I literally left hoarse at the end of the meal after having to yell to the people sitting just across the table from me. While I appreciate a darkened atmosphere for dining ambiance, this was too dark and I could hardly even see my menu. The food was a different story: the macaroni and cheese reached a new culinary level. With a mixture of cavatappi and Irish cheddar cheeses, tomatoes, caramelized onion, and Irish bacon, all topped with a garlic crumb crust, it was the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had. The buffalo chicken sandwich came with a garlic dill aioli that would make an old shoe taste great. In the end, though the dining experience left something to be desired, the food was definitely worth it.

Great Service and Extremely Accommodating!

By vacationauthority |

We went here with a fun group and had a phenomenal time with outstanding service. This is an Irish style pub so as a vegan I was planning on just joining for the drinks, however, our server notified me he was a vegan and that he could offer me several options. I really craved broccoli and asked if I could get a plate of steamed broccoli, it was presented beautifully and I greatly appreciated being served a vegan. I would go back.

Good food with great atmosphere

By crose75 |

Part of the restaurant is set up like a library and there is a stained glass ceiling! Our hotel pointed us towards this place, and it was a great tip. Food was great with amazing sweet potato fries. Kind of like dining in turn of the century England, but with better food!

Fabulous job with party of 14+!

Large family dinner was possible and a pleasure with great food and service. Quickly added room for 3 more at the last minute. Very flexible. Kid friendly with children’s menu, crayons, etc. Will definitely return when in town again.

We were advised to come here by our concierge upon arrival to Chicago and he was right. We had great service and wonderful food. We ended up returning here for our last dinner in town. So many great options. Wonderful spicy mezcal mango margarita.

Wonderful food, wonderful evening

By KathleenA60 |

Restaurant has a wonderful feel to it, very relaxing and cozy. I ordered the Irish curry which was amazing. Didn't know the Irish had curry. My husband ordered the standard Shepherd's Pie. The portions were large and very well prepared. We went there on a recommendation from a local and we were not disappointed.

Saturday night. Pretty good place. Would return. Recommend the fish & chips and lobster mac. Avoid the Scottish Salmon. Good gluten menu. Kind of slow. Perhaps under staffed.

Nice bar for streetside drinks & food

By PathManSlough |

My wife and I dropped in here yesterday for a couple of lunchtime drinks ahead of eating at Crisp (Korean chicken wings), just up the street. Nice place to enjoy a lunchtime drink and the food looked good, so we decided to return in the evening to eat here. When we returned, we sat inside but right by the street so we could enjoy the world going by. I had the classic burger with cheese and fries and my wife had the half ultimate grilled cheese sandwich with a bowl of tomato & basil soup. The food looks good, but is let down a little on flavour. The burger wasn't seasoned (needs salt please chef!), but all the other contents were good and tasty (nice lettuce!). My wifes soup was just warm, not hot as she likes it, and the grilled cheese sandwich needed some stronger cheese. However, the ambience is good and the bar has a buzz about it, so we will return for drinks agan!

Nice place, good feel, good food

I liked the library feel of this restaurant, made it feel comfy, the food selection is good, the food quality is good, the service is good, prices are to be expected, 12-20 ish, was a nice outing that was enjoyable.

Over priced but tasty

By ChiCityIrwin |

Dined on 08 Oct. Tasty food and prompt service. My two complaints are portion size to price AND paying a 3.9% surcharge as a “credit card processing” fee. I’ll come back once Wilde ceases this unethical business practice.

Bad & Good

By Dok |

Bad, blackened does not equal burnt chicken. I know my bad, they can probably only cook it in New Orleans, but if you cannot cook it then don't put it in the menu. I wasn't looking for free food, only acknowledge what was wrong, note to management if you don't want bad reviews then admit your mistakes! Good, wife had Fish & Chips hence the 2 star. Service was good, thanks Declyn, but I asked you to tell your manager. You may ask why I ate 80% of the meal? Chips (aka fries) good. Main reason is generally I don't send food back, I know what some do to the meals being re-done! Again handling my complaint by management, not server, is the reason for my rant. Only in Chicago a couple of nights, thanks Wilde for leaving a bad taste.

Awesome Bar Upscale Bar Food

By Carla Jo S |

We tried Wilde Bar and Restaurant on our way to a concert at Wrigley and we were extremely impressed! The food was amazing (with a great gluten free menu) and the drink selection was impressive. The had great mixed drinks, scotch and craft beer to choose from.

Poor service, cold potatoes

By Nancy f |

I've been here numerous times over the last 8 years, and usually we have a great time-that's why we keep going back. This experience will have me choosing elsewhere next time. They open for brunch on Sunday at 11, driving in from 30 miles away we arrived early (a group of 4) and were waiting outside at 11 as they unlocked the door, and were about the third group seated. A busperson brought us water and menus immediately. I was going to ask for a gluten free menu (they have them) when the waitperson came, but no one ever did. At 11:15, I got up and went to the hostess desk at the entrance, which had no one there, and grabbed my own. By 11:22, we still had not had any waitstaff to our table nor even a drink order. My husband asked the gaggle of waitstaff at the outpost behind us if we could perhaps get some help and put in a drink order. Around five minutes later someone (not a waitperson, nor any of the people who had been standing there not helping, perhaps from management?) came and asked if he could take our drink order. He looked annoyed when my husband asked if we could order food as well, as we had now been waiting almost 30 minutes and were quite ready. I would like to say they weren't busy, but by now, many people were seated and being waited on, most had arrived after us. They weren't busy when we got there, half an hour previously. He took our order and as the drinks came a waitress came and apologized stating she didn't know she had our table. I get that-probably not her fault. Don't people notice, however, when no one gets a waitperson? Certainly maybe the hostess? Maybe when I had to walk across the restaurant to get my own menu? Perhaps I have the protocol unclear, but the kiosk of waitpeople behind us might have helped by pointing out to someone else that our table wasn't being helped-we were right in front of them, and they had lots of time together standing there between helping their tables. When the food came, it was mostly good, except every potato dish was cold. There were 2 orders with breakfast potatoes and one order of fries, and all three were cold. As we were finishing our meals and the dishes were being taken away, I had to call the waitress over (she only came by once, at the beginning when she brought our hot tea selections) to ask for more hot water for my tea, and then 2 people at our table needed more coffee (they were never asked or refilled before this). She did come by with the bill right after that. I get that his might partly be my fault-as we entered the hostess tried to sit us at the booth right next to the door, but as we had already waited outside to enter and it was 20 degrees outside, I asked if we could sit a little further in to avoid the draft. Beyond that, we let her seat us where she wanted and made no other requests-so I do not think it should have been too difficult to provide us with a seat on waitstaff's assignment list. Even if it was her error, she might have eventually noticed her error? And it is also not an excuse for cold potatoes and seconds on tea and coffee after the meal was completed. Sorry, next time, we will have to go elsewhere. Not only will they probably not mind, they probably wont even notice.

Pretty good / Mix of American and Irish influenced foods

By Daniel A |

Went here with a few friends the other day and end up ordering brussel sprouts which are covered in maple syrup in a bacon aioli which is just simply amazing. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich Club and my friend ordered the huge pot pie and my other friend order the meatloaf I tasted the pot pie it was simply amazing. My sandwich was alright I asked for sweet potato fries but was brought regular fries that's okay the Ambiance is really nice and the area it's in has lots to do. I will have to go back for brunch cuz it looks like that is something they're very well known for all in all nice place to grab some lunch or dinner I would definitely recommend it.

Nor worth the $$$

St patty's day visit

By Venessa G |

Great service, great food and good cocktails. Had fish and chips, mac and cheese, grilled cheese sandwich. Tons of cocktails. Good times and a nice place that can accommodate a large group of people on a holiday weekend! Best note about this place... I left my wallet on the table after too many of those great cocktails and an employee ran out to catch me before I left im my uber to give me my wallet! That speaks volumes to me! Honest people! Good karma!

Excellent place for couples and families

By CDNGlobetrotter79 |

We went to Wilde Bar with our 2 year old boy and had great time. The food was good, the seating was great, helpful staff and although it got really busy, everything was served in a timely manner. Quite a fancy Irish Bar and has food options for adults and kids. We sat at a booth but next time, we will go without our son to be able to sit at the bar. Seemed like a fun atmosphere at the bar!

Good food and drinks

By catarina824 |

Good food, drinks and staff. Lots of food on the plates. Sit outside in the sun with new and old friends.

Love this Place!

By 41christined |

The atmosphere is so comfortable, despite the noise from the friendly people. On nice days be sure to sit outside and people watch. Some of the best sights around! The Chicken Pot Pie is incredibly good with huge pieces of veggies and the best top crust I have had. The Macaroni and Cheese is always gone too soon, and everyone at the table has to join me in loving it. The full service bar has everything you could ask for, and if you sit near the fireplace on a chilly night you have the best seat in town.

Lively, friendly neighborhood place with kids 'n sports TV & of yes food!

By Gayle M |

Always love the Wilde Burger, but there are small plates: Curried Mussels, delish...Large plates: chicken pot pie... fish 'n chips... good wine... beer flights! In winter a fire and in summer outdoor seating on the sidewalks of Chicago... what more can you want?

Inviting Dark wood paneling and fireplaces

By Jackconly |

A very nice spot with a menu that's kind of a hybrid of what you might find in a Dublin pub, with fish and chips, terrific hamburgers covered in Irish cheese, broiled fish, and a great many beers both on tap and bottled. A great place for a first date or to catch up with friends.

Food was good, service was not

By Sar K |

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately our waiter practically ignored us for almost an hour (we'd asked for water and he never came back for orders) until we got the manager's attention. Then things were much smoother. The place could desperately use a bit of light, the menus are hard to read in the dark.

Wonderful food. Cozy, library/pub feel. Outdoor seating. Close to Briar Street Theatre.

By Skicatt |

We stopped here prior to seeing the Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theatre. Very convenient-about a block away. We had planned to go to the restaurant across the street from Wilde, but after seeing this restaurant we were intrigued. We had 45 minutes to eat dinner and be at the theatre. The waitress said it would not be an issue. She was true to her word. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent (I had the Chilean sea bass cooked to perfection.) The atmosphere is cozy. One section looks like you would be dining in an old English library. There are booths and tables, outdoor seating, and a nice bar. The meal was one of our more expensive meals in the area. A short walk from the subway or bus in Belmont.

Go-to spot to take visitors in East Lakeview

By Justin R |

We go to Wilde all the time. Tons of food options, amazing atmosphere (although it seems dark inside during the summer), and good drinks. I've tried most of the food here, 75% has been awesome, 25% fine. We always go back to the lobster mac and cheese, the chipotle turkey burger, the shepherd's pie. Amazing. The salads are unique but they all seem to have one ingredient I don't love, which is too bad. Like beets, or pickled vegetables, or the cheese crisp thing. I used to order them anyway, and pick around the parts I don't enjoy, but why do that when the turkey burger is so good? Anyway, if you can get a spot outside in the summer that's the way to go, but it's nice and cozy inside in the winter. The décor is pretty awesome with the bookshelves and the old-school bars.

Great Food

Great food and Drinks. Great ambuance and close to the laugh factory. I had a lobster Mac and Chees and it was amazing. The sweet potato fries are a must to get as a starter, they even come with warm maple suyrp.

Wait staff: Take notes!

By romalley6419 |

As this is within blocks of my house, I would love for it to be a regular destination for me and my significant other, family and friends from out-of-town, but this is not to be. My biggest complaint is that the last couple of times I have been there, my server (a different person each time) has failed to write our orders down, instead counting on their (apparently short term) memory. Writing pads be damned! A simple order: a burger, no onions (I'm not allergic or anything, I just do not care for them). Nothing else. Nothing crazy about it. No onions. Burger came to the table heaped in onions. I said something to the server, who offered to take the onions off and bring the (same) burger back to the table. I could do that myself but the taste of onions would still be there. Server got very testy and walked away. As I mentioned, not the first time this has happened and it is disappointing as this would be a great spot on a snowy night to sight in front of the fireplace and enjoy a cocktail.

BLAND food

By dcole773 |

Nice and cozy restaurant, but my friend and I ordered a chopped salad that was just....BLAND. I was sorry to feel this way since it is convenient! And the service was decent.

Best Pub

By pammundell |

Yea I love English and Irish Food. I use to live across Wilde and would go there all the time for brunch, lunch and dinner. The Brunch is definitely the best., well its very English, and I love the Irish coffee with the biggest breakfast in Chicago. This Restaurant serves all my favourite dishes, Fish and chips, potpie, curry fries. I wish this place is here in Alameda CA where I currently live. ITs the first place I am going back too when I return to Chicago for a visit.

Great food

By Jessica L |

Went there late night on a Friday. Their late-night menu was really good and they had a good selection of beers. They were pretty busy for the time of night, but the service was still really good.

Cozy at Christmastime!

By BaseballFan5 |

There were 5 of us as walk-ins the day after Christmas. The holiday decor is gorgeous - garland & twinkling lights everywhere. Try to sit in the "library" area with the fireplace....absolutely adorable. The gentleman at the front was very accommodating as helped us find a good table for my elderly mom. That was very much appreciated. Our waiter was also great....helped us answer questions and was very patient and helpful as he helped my mom, who has dietary restrictions, find something that would work on the menu. The food was very good overall. Such a cute atmosphere!!

SUNDAY BRUNCH IS SOLID, SERVICE VERY PROMPT

By Tim |

Brunch menu as it is Sunday early PM. Eggs, breakfast but burgers too. The service was prompt and attentive.I liked my eggs benedict. Good value as well.

So-so Salad

By carachil |

We’ve been here a couple of times since my mom lives in the neighborhood. The ambience is great and it’s a relaxing, comfortable bar-type place. I ordered what was supposed to be a grilled romaine Caesar salad with no croutons and added blackened shrimp. The romaine was not grilled and the portion size was that of a side salad. All 5 (over a $1 a piece) blackened shrimp were great, but for $12 plus $6 for shrimp it was disappointing to leave hungry.

Almost Dublin

By Tom O |

Large local pub, big bar, good food. NO parking. Can get loud, outdoor seating available on Broadway friendly atmosphere. Great burger selection plus lots of Irish dishes. Weekends are particularly crowded. Since I can walk there I go often. A great place.

Good atmosphere

Stopped in for drinks and late night snacks with friends. If I lived in the area, this would be my go-to place - good food and drink, efficient service, great décor.

Can't wait to go back!

By firebird350 |

Was here for dinner, have not been in the neighborhood since the 80's. What a great area. Cool looking restaurant, way too many choices of food so I will for sure have to go back, drinks were excellent and prices were wonderful.

Perfect for friends, food, relaxing, fun...you name it

By Easyg1 |

Five of us had a late dinner here last week...folks from LA, St. Louis, Chi. This is one of our favorite places. The atmosphere is distinctive, comfortable, tasteful. The menu offers a wide selection, our dishes were outstanding (try the chicken pot pie or the shepherd's pie). Very mellow and energetic at the same time. And there's outdoor dining as well.
