Fine Dining + Pizza

By 5reillys1975 |

Excellent service and we asked a lot of questions, all were answered. Food was very good. Atmosphere busy but friendly. Crowd was a mix of neighborhood people, downtown workers, and visitors.

Fun, relaxing, and pleasant. This is a great place to dine with your wife, family, or friends. It has a great ambiance feel to i

Me and my wife loved everything about this restaurant from the atmosphere, service, and the dishes. My wife ordered calamari, which was cooked to perfection. I ordered a cocktail called the South Philly, and it was really refreshing. we also ordered their pull apart rolls with softened butter it was warm and soft. And for the main course, we ordered a couple of their seafood dishes

Hidden Gem!

By Stephanie S |

This may have been one of my most favorite meals while in Philly. There were 5 of us dining and we all found something we loved. The service was amazing, great wine selection and the food could not have been better. They were offering a family style option for a very reasonable price and there was an abundance of food and it was to die for. The appetizers were tasty, pizza was perfection (Margherita & Winter Fever), the pastas were delicious (butternut squash ravioli, Mafaldine Alla Vodka, Bucatini Nero, Speghetti Cacio E Pepe, Rigatoni Ragu) and if you are able, do splurge and get the truffles added...really enhanced the meal. We packed up the entrees and enjoyed them later that evening because we were so full...we may have still partaken in the dessert but don't tell :-) I would absolutely go back with friends, on a date night or with the kids because there was something for everyone and it was all amazingly fresh.

Excellent Food and Service

We had a great experience at Wilder! I will definitely be back! The service was outstanding! Lucy was friendly, attentive, and made sure to ask about food allergies…which I really appreciated. The ambiance is lovely. It’s decorated nicely, not too loud, etc. The food was delicious! We shared the pull apart rolls, Calabrian hot chicken, and the bucatini cacio e pepe. Everything had great flavor and was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend trying Wilder! Thanks for a great experience! Be sure to book in advance.

Perfect Spot in Rittenhouse SQ

By Eric F |

Food was exceptional. Staying in Center City / Rittenhouse SQ and Google Best Restaurants near me turns up lots of options. This place did not disappoint. Fig & Ricotta salad plus their Rotolo pasta dish were just right. Certainly give them a try. Had no reservation, I just sat at a bar side table, it was a Sunday however.

What a disappointment; they missed the mark on nearly everything.

We really wanted to like this place. We live nearby but have never been. We made a res for 1:45 (late for brunch). The place was 1/2 empty but we were seated at a table for 2 at a banquette squeezed between 2 noisy groups and very close to the front door which brought in icy air. I looked at a long expanse of empty tables and asked if we could sit over there and was told no; they were expecting a big party. Note: the big party arrived one hour later when we were ready to leave. Also 2 other couples arrived and were seated in the forbidden zone. Okay that was #1. Then no wait person showed up for a longish period of time: #2: no water; no welcome. Menu was okay. We both ordered a different version of a salad with grilled salmon. Mine included a poached egg. #3 poached egg arrived hard boiled. I asked for a replacement t and they did bring me a softly poached, runny egg. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for someone to refill our iced tea. #4: food was mediocre. Edible but no where near the quality anticipated based on the prices. I do not recommend this place and would not go back. Plenty of far better places a short walk away.

Just what we were looking for...

We went to celebrate a very special birthday lunch and special was what we experienced at Wilder. It is hard not to be in awe of the eclectic but sophisticated decor as soon as you enter the restaurant. The staff was welcoming and attentive throughout our 2-hour lunch! They didn't overdo it but made special note of the birthday girl and made sure she was treated to an extra special dessert. The food was just tremendous from the quality of what looks to be a simple salad to the outrageous burst of flavor in the seasonal fall squash pasta. The pizza was just fabulous, I got the sweet and spicy, and it was just soo sooo good! The owner was able to take some time to chat with us and give us the history of how the restaurant came to be. I really cannot say enough good things about this place...it is a must try! I know we have decided it will be some place we go back to monthly if not weekly.

Early Dinner

By John_M_1999 |

We walked in before 5 on a Friday. They asked if we had a reservation but did not. They said ok but became very busy later. Pizza was very good as well as the pasta my wife had. Waitress was very attentive and we had a quick meal. When we were leaving it was starting to fill up. We sat upstairs but has a few levels and outside too. Newly renovated and wife commented on nice bathrooms. I would go back.

Excellent service and very good food

I can't say enough about the wonderful service we experienced at Wilder on a recent Friday evening. We asked to dine outside and were easily accommodated, with the server immediately seating us and the manager appearing to show us how to operate the heaters if we needed them. We chose both from the happy hour and regular menus, ordering oysters, arancini, and spritzes from the former and pasta (cacio e pepe, ragu), pizza (brussel sprouts and bacon), shishito peppers, and bread from the latter. all to share among us. The service was exceptional at every step--the two servers with whom we dealt most frequently were prompt, friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. The food was very good--the only misstep was the cacio e pepe, with the pepper (tasting like basic McCormick's) overwhelming the dish. All else was nicely prepared, and the flavor combination of the pizza was inspired. I'll certainly consider returning to Wilder when we're next in Philadelphia.

Perfection!

By AdventureTraveler60 |

I had lunch at Wilder 4 months ago and fell in love with this restaurant so when it came time to pick a restaurant to host my cousin's birthday luncheon, I was thrilled when my mom and sister agreed with my recommendation! My sister coordinated a lot of the logistics with Brett and his wife Nicole, and they could not have been more gracious and accommodating from the get go. The luncheon was perfection! We had rented out the room on the 3rd floor (which if you haven't been, definitely pop up and take a look) which was fabulous. Special thank you and much gratitude to Madison, who was so fantastic from start to finish, ensuring that everything went smoothly, which it did. She could not have been more professional, friendly, helpful and kind. And her photography skills were off the charts so we have a wonderful memory of the day. I highly recommend Wilder if you are looking to host an event (or just to grab a meal or have a drink). The owners and staff are consummate professionals and you will not be disappointed! The food (and drinks) are delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you!

Delicious, not to be missed!

We had the mafadine, halibut, foie gras, carrots and zucchini blossom. Their take on each of these dishes is inspired! The decor and ambiance was also lovely. Enjoyable experience all around. Very thoughtfully designed. We loved the skylight on the second floor. We will definitely come back next time we are in Philly.

Very good food and great service

Great service and very good food. My daughter and I shared 3 items. The tuna crude and agnolotti pasta were terrific. Finally, we ordered a summer pizza with fresh vegetables which was tasty but had a soft crust. Atmosphere was just ok. Too crowded and noisy

2/26/25 Year End Celebration work lunch in semi-private space upstairs. Exceeded our expectations on all fronts! Food, staff, service, beautiful space. Worked closely with Brett who owns Wilder with his partner Nicole. I let Brett know that is was wonderful and we cannot wait to return for another work event and to bring family and friends. Thanks for everything Brett!

What a fantastic place, a hidden gem! Nothing short of spectacular. Thank you for an incredible culinary experience!!

A bit pricey. Solid food. Good atmosphere. Would be 5 stars if 15 percent less

By Anywhere_on_the_road |

Super tasty and hip spot. Really would have been 5 stars, but, is just a few notches on the pricey side. Table of 4, one appetizer, each had a basic beer type drink, midday menu. Bill was north of 210, pre tip. Food was great. Service was great. Again, that price was a bit something. All of that said, I have never had a better calamari dish. They give the plate some chunks of grapefruit and a healthy squeeze of grapefruit juice that brings such a brightness to complement the fat. So very, very good!!

Good Restaurant

Five of us for early dinner on a weekday night. Seated promptly. We shared all dishes and there was enough for all of us to share. Began with a green salad which was just ordinary and really enjoyed the tomato & burrata salad. We then had malfadine, octopus, aspida and a potato and artichoke pizza. All dishes were very tasty with interesting combinations of ingredients. Prices for these dishes was quite reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The drinks were quite pricey.

Brunch is very recommended

We went for brunch and everything was great. We split a salad and each got our own entrees and we were very satisfied by the end. The staff and very friendly and helpful and the decor is gorgeous in the restaurant itself. I will definitely be coming back soon.

Excellent Food

We were there as part of a business conference. We had a private room upstairs with our meal served family style. Everything was delicious and the service was excellent. I sampled a little of everything that was served and it was all excellent. Highly recommend!

Good food and an extremely rude server.

By Jan F |

Food was delicious, decor lovely. I will never step foot in this restaurant again. Ordered an appetizer to share and 3 main courses. One main course came out within 5 min of ordering (by someone not our server) and nothing else. When my friend used the bathroom she asked nicely that that dish be made new when the other entrees were served. The other entrees along with appetizer all came out together a bit later. We really didn’t want the appetizer at that point since we had our entrees. From that moment on I have never had a ruder server. A second glass of wine was set down with force on the table and server spun on her heel. She would not make eye contact with us and when we asked for the check she dropped it on the table with not a word. I left a 20% tip on a $150 bill. I got her attention when leaving to let her know the service early was not bad, we just thought the order of courses was off. She told me we “Got the day we deserved” and walked away. Her name is Nicollette P. My friend has been a server for 31 yrs. This is NOT how to treat a guest.

Great soup and sandwich

By Joel JZ |

Stopped in for a nice lunch with a local friend. We went with the soup and half sandwich with a side salad lunch. $25, which included their delicious butternut squash soup. I went with the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of salad. my friend had the burger with fries. they decided to give us full sandwiches instead of half, which was a lot of food. but I finished it!

Nice pasta place

By Nancy G |

We came here on a Friday for dinner. We were seated promptly. The banquet seating is slightly tight, but not too bad. Our server was Geneva, who was terrific. She was informative and helpful. We had the jumbo crab pasta in vodka sauce. It was delicious with large pieces of crab and a wonderful sauce. We also tried to sausage and pancetta rigatoni. It was also very good. We wanted to try a pizza afterward because every table seemed to order a pizza, but we were too full. We had sorbet and a chocolate dessert. Both were good, but the chocolate dish was absolutely fantastic - and enough to share. The only negatives to mention was 1) the tap water came out warm, not even room temperature, but warm. 2) my husband had two glasses of Chardonnay and both glasses were very short on the pour. For $16 per glass, he expected more. Overall we will be back.

Great New Restaurant in Philadelphia

By SIXOCLOCKTICKET |

Wilder has only been open since Mar22, but this is a fabulous restaurant, with great food and great service and a great pedigree from the owners and chef. Handily located near Rittenhouse Square, Wilder is open from 5pm every day. We came across this from a foodie review which praised it highly and it did not disappoint. The restaurant is light and airy and very fresh, and immaculate décor as it is after all, newly refurbished. Oysters are available singly and the staff will provide details on origin and taste, and they were superb. The starters were also amazing with the steak tartare coming out as our favourite. The main course strip steak was excellent as well, very tasty, perfectly cooked with a gingery sauce, whilst my other half had the octopus with charred aubergine sauce. For desserts, I can certainly recommend the chocolate cremeux. The wine was on the expensive side, good but pricey. Service was unquestionably good. Definitely to be recommended.

Dinner in Philadelphia, PA

By Vy H. |

Came here for dinner Saturday night—had reservations so we were seated right away. Cute small restaurant. The bar area seems pretty energetic but we sat in the dining area. Started off with Half Dozen Pink Moon Raw Oysters—so delicious! Also tried the Roasted Oysters which were overloaded with breadcrumbs I could barely taste the oyster underneath—also has a spicy kick to it as well! For entrees, we tried to Bucatini Cacio E Pepe and Mafaldine Alla Vodka—both pasta dishes were generous portions and overall were pretty good! No issues with our cocktails and service was great.
