Wokcano is my favorite restaurant (all locations) when I want Asian cuisine. The Downtown location is nice, with very helpful staff and big enough to avoid long wait to be seated. The food is excellent. The prices are a bit on the high side, but is worth it. Recommended.

Stopped in here for dinner while on a business trip. Originally planned to go someplace else, but was so glad we went here. Food was awesome. Had the Dragon roll and loved it. Had a slightly deep fried sushi roll that was amazing!!! The one issue was that since it was happy hour, we were positioned right next to the bar, which was a little loud. Seems like a vibrant place for after work drinks. Luckily our meal was done by the time the bachelorette party showed up! I would definitely go here again. Food was phenomenal.

I don’t eat sushi, but I do enjoy the main dishes at Wokcano, and it’s a great place to order several entrees and share as the portions of one dish is usually enough for 2-3 people. They are a little bit pricey and the ambience is high-end. However, the dim lighting and dark woods can come across as corporate. My big issue is that most of the customer service personnel have not been trained to work at a high end restaurant. The hostesses are never warm or welcoming. They are always busy doing something- close to nothing and make you feel like you are interrupting them. And, the service is lackluster. You will be kinda/sorta cordially greeted as your order is taken and then your server disappears. Then a “busboy?” who clearly, barely speaks English, will serve the food, refill your water glasses and clear the tables; however he is not able to help if you need anything beyond that. The server will magically reappear when it’s time for the check. So, come in when you have time and patience…and enjoy the food!

Great prices, fast service, always busy in the bar and great food.

This large, multi-level restaurant continues to offer a friendly (even if a bit too dark) ambience and a vast menu of Asian food (minus Indian) that is perfectly good, friendly on the wallet and an ideal place to unwind and chow down with friends. A long bar menu helps too.

Title says it all. Good food served promptly with a smile. Looked after us well and to top it all they have good selection of sake..

Went and enjoyed a delicious bowl of Pho and really great appetizers. Really nice group of people and a variety of things to choose from. Nice beer and wine selection too.

Ate here with friends on a business trip.. The food was pretty good for the most part. I had the garlic chicken and contrary to other comments about excessive salt and soy sauce, I did not find the dish to be that salty.. For the most part the food was comparable to a PF Changs restaurant.. I also had a salmon skin hand roll and hamachi roll.. All tasted great and were fresh.. One issue was the uneven delivery of food to the table.. My dish arrived 10 min before others.. So I sat and waited to eat.. Meanwhile the rice got cold.. They said they would replace the rice but never did.. We finally mixed the rice in the dish.. Also, my friends received hot steaming dishes nd by the time theirs came out mine was lukewarm.. Not happy at all about that..with all the restaurants in LA, probably will not attend again..

The good news is that food is very good and reasonably priced. The bad news is the service is not good and the first 3 wines I picked were not available but the server didnt tell me,he just brought a different bottle of wine and hoped I didnt notice. The manager told me they hadnt gotten the new wine lists printed yet. OK,you should tell people that before you Bait And Switch.

Ordered the sashimi dinner to go. It was ready in 15 minutes and good quality fish for the price. Garlic spinach was also good. Nice that they will deliver to your room at the adjacent Sheraton too.

Service was outstanding. Started with Won Ton Soup. Shared Monkey brain roll delicious calamari great. Pad Thai Crazy Rice and a Beef dish forgot name but it was really. Great. Line the ambiance also.

We had walked past this American/Asian fusion restaurant a couple of times as it was close to our hotel. On returning from an active day rambling Griffith Park we were looking for somewhere quick and relaxing. Wok and delivered on all fronts. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and plentiful. It had a good selection of beers and wines and, altogether, offered good value for money.

Had the fried shrimp tempura roll which was excellent and lightly fried. The menu also contains some Chinese food items. I wanted to go back here to try something else on the menu but ran out of time. The process are reasonable for LA and the service was great...good waiter. I'd go back again.

We decided to have a late dinner on my wife’s birthday in downtown Los Angeles. Found a Asian place called Wokcano. Parked in a public parking about a block away, walked thru the Bloc shopping center to get to it. We were greeted by a smiling hostess and were seated immediately. We studied the menu and found out that they offer appetizers, sushi’s, sashimis, rolls, noodles, soups and various Chinese dishes. For starters, we ordered a great mixed sashimi salad and a refreshing cucumber salads. For the main dish, we ordered salmon roll with truffle oil and a crunchy roll. The salmon roll with truffle oil was amazingly tasty and my wife decided we will come back here just for that dish. We also ordered Mongolian beef and a double chicken Kung Pao. The food was fresh, tasty and well portioned. The service was cordial and prompt. The ambience was trendy and pleasant. The price is a tad above average but reasonable for a downtown restaurant. I recommend it highly.

Excellent calamari dish and the crab roll is a must have every time I go. They even deliver to the bars in the area.

Stopped here for a late dinner. Nice atmosphere and great bar menu. Had the lobster and crab sushi. I am not a huge sushi eater, but this stuff was amazing! Would definitely go back again!

I really liked this place. Great menu, good tastes. I have a big appetite and to get well-eaten with 30 bucks is a rare occasion for me in US.

Had a great time here :) I recommend the emperors beef, or whatever it was called its beef with plum sauce, delicious! Massive meal which we added rice, soup and side salad for only an extra of $4. Thanks for the experience :)

The food was good, needed just a few more spices added though. Loved the Moscow Mule and the atmosphere was just right.

We stop in many nights when we work late a don't want to go home and cook. My only complaint is when the check is totaled it adds tax into the base bills and suggest tips based on that total. Unless Jerry Brown serves our meal I usually deduct that from the bill, before I tip. Don't tip on tax!

We booked a table at Wokcano through TripAdvisor based on the reviews we read, and selected the love boat from the photos on one such review. Initially we also ordered some pot stickers for starters however upon asking the waitress we were informed this would likely be too much. We were grateful for her honesty as the 'love boat' alone was far more than we could eat. Perhaps the love boat was anticipating a love triangle...? 3 or even 4, may have been better equipped to demolish this feast. Everything was incredibly fresh! The produce was of the highest standard. The love boat was accompanied by salad and miso, each were delicious! We took our left overs home for later. The restaurant was clean and modern. Had we not been so exhausted we would have enjoyed making an evening of it. Having said that, the Happy hour referenced in earlier reviews was not bought to our attention in any way.

From the table service to menu selection, this place has it all. The happy hour Menu is great, its from 4-7 PM and reverse happy hour from 10pm- 2AM. Check this place OUT!

Nice surroundings for a quiet pleasant dinner. The spicy chicken and broccoli was not very spicy but the portion was plentiful and the meat was tender. Good quality ingredients marred by watered down Americanized blandness. Not bad overall but certainly not authentic.

Stumbled on this place around the corner from my hotel, looking to placate my growling stomach after a typical domestic flight with no food. Impressive happy hour menu, reasonable priced. I ordered a sushi combo platter, and was pleasantly surprised - 6 meaty pieces of high-quality fish (weird way to describe fish, I know). The spicy tuna roll I ordered next wasn't bad either, as was the house cabernet - good pour for $4! If you want the happy hour menu, you have to put up with the somewhat cramped bar/lounge area, but its well worth it. It does get rather loud.

Had dinner at this restaurant since it was close to the Sheraton where we were staying. Really enjoyed the ambiance. Food was good. Service was great. Ordered the pad thai and pan fried chicken dumplings which was very good. Prices very reasonable even for downtown LA. Would recommend!

This is one of my favorite Thai Fusion restaurants, The food is great and we love the atmosphere. My friends and I always eat here when in town! Make a reservation. This place is right next to the Sheraton were we stay.

Good sushi... They have happy hour and the price r cheap... Nice set up... Neat and clean place... For a date, meeting, family, good for everyone...

If you are looking for a great sushi place for a good price this is the place to go. Menu had a variety of Asian dishes but the sushi was the Item that I was looking for. Made Fresh an to order and at a good price. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Don't be afraid to ask if you do not know see something you want. Great quality and taste. Ate there twice while in the area. will go back again if in the area and would recommend.

First time at this restaurant. I had avoided it previously as it is part of a chain and assumed it was a typical Americanized Asian food place. I was wrong. The décor of the restaurant is quite attractive. Our party of 2 had a reservation for 7:30 pm on a Friday night and the reservation was promptly fulfilled. Sound level is high but not as loud as many other restaurants. Our server, Yuleny, was professional, helpful, and provided excellent service. She helped us in deciding what to order and the amount of food that would be adequate. Restaurant has a full bar (both in terms of liquor served as well as the number of people in it). We started with 2 appetizers: pork dumplings and a dish called "The Monkey Brain." Both were exceptionally good. We both like Asian food; the dumplings were some of the best we've had anywhere, and the Monkey Brain was an outstanding fusion dish that is impossible to describe. We then shared two entrees: Black Pepper Beef Mignon and Garlic Noodle with Shrimp; again, outstanding tastes to both. We ended by sharing a Tempura Cheesecake Bites; the perfect end to a truly enjoyable meal. The Bites were creamy on the inside, lightly fried on the outside, and sat in a chocolate and caramel cream. Not your typical Chinese or Japanese restaurant but one that is worth going to if you like creativity in food that is outstanding in taste. Will definitely come back, soon.

We at dinner here after the last day of a conference. I had the Double Kung Pao and it was very good. I don't know if I would necessarily seek this place out if I was ever in LA again, but I really did enjoy it.

This place is weird. First of all, my sushi's all of them were very bad, like the ingredients weren't classy. The staff was OK but could be better and the restaurant smells really weird.

Great happy hour prices. Nice selection of happy hour hors d’oeuvres and beverages. Fun atmosphere. Friendly staff,

Low key place in heart of downtown. Extensive variety of Asian dishes-Japanese, Chinese, Thai. Food average, on the noisy side and not cozy.

I came in for their Happy Hour which was the most amazing happy hour I have ever been to!!! I would pay double the price for their spicy tuna roll but it was only $5!! Their beer selection is wide and features many fun craft brews! Service is friendly and attentive but the real star of the show is the sushi! The quality and value cant be beaten!

Had a enjoyable meal with friends with varying palates. Wide variety of options. Had a short wait at lunch, service wasn't remarkable.

The food here is amazing, Had Lunch and dinner here as it was very close to the hotel, Service was grate and fast for both eat in and takeouts. Try their Tuna rolls and the garlic shrimp

... and nowhere really. The menu takes items from all over Asia: From Japan to Thailand. However, I admit that the salmon nigiri was quite good. Paired with high-end Japanese craft brews, the dinner was pretty good. Nothing to brag about, just another place downtown.

If you don’t have anything nice to say....then don’t review it!!! So, TripAdvisor forces you to add a minimum of one hundred words. Therefore here goes... The food was pathetic, the service was pedestrian, after waiting for fifteen minutes for a beer, I rose and went to the bar to grab one myself. Nothing at this branch to write home about and you folks know I have eaten and reviewed sushi joints across the globe. This one is not worth your time.

Wow! As a foodie, I can be hard on these types of places. The food was perfect! Bar had big selection of tequila, surprising. Friends raved about the forbidden fruit specialty cocktail. Wolfgang, our waiter was so attentive and helpful. Recommend the brussels, spicy garlic wings and mignon. Enjoy!

Just few minutes walk from our hotel Intercontinental, is an Asian fusion resto. There are Japanese, Chinese & Western styles cuisine. We try pork dumplings, sashimi deluxe, wonton soup, beef and broccoli, chicken terriyaki and chicken fried rice. All delicious !

Wokcano is a fun place to be. Lots of locals stop by and the bartenders are great! Good variety of dishes and the portions are generous as well!

Recommended by hotel. Japanese sushi restaurant. (Not all you can eat) Sushi melted in your mouth. It was excellent. Seaweed salad and eggplant dish was also very good. Wait staff very attentive. We did not have reservations on a Friday evening but staff was very accommodating and found us a table very quickly. Highly recommend. Will return

It was a bit hectic being seated, but the staff friendly, the food tasty, the portions large, and the prices low.

Four of us decided to enjoy a dinner here. Two ordered the Sushi and loved it! One ordered the Beef & Broccoli and liked it. I ordered the Pad Thai and thought it was okay. The service was good and the location was convenient. Good value.

Cons: May need to get a servers attention and experienced an issue with my take out order. Pros: During my second visit (friend wanted to eat there because the sign was visually appealing). We ordered steamed and pan-fried chicken dumplings, grilled salmon, honey Walnut shrimp, broccoli, greens, and fried rice. I have to say they knew how to put a real meal together. How so? Well I've eaten around the world and can tell you the quality of all foods were cooked just right. Let's be honest, how many restaurants do you know can screw an order and bring you from hungry to food comatitis on your second visit. My visit was ~46 USD per person but check out the photo, quality and portion. Plus I had a red to wash it all down. Oh, the honey Walnut shrimp wasn't tangy or too sweet. Awesome food runner/presentation/presentation.

we had a secluded room in the back with a very funny waitress and great food. the sushi was wonderful.

Unfortunately, I happened to hit this jewel during the Coronavirus pandemic...so we were not able to enjoy the full ambiance of the Wokcano experience...I had the Sashimi Sampler and my friend had the Pad Thai...because of social distancing, I can only attest to my meal which was superb...I’ll check on his meal tomorrow...

Food was fresh and service was fast for what I ordered. The fish that I ordered was well prepared and the drinks were fantastic.

Prices were mid of the road affordable, but the food was well worth it all. Great Sushi.

We had emperor's beef and lemon chicken. The beef was great but the lemon was a bit tasteless. The salad that came with the meal had a really tasty dressing.

I had lunch at Wokcano while in LA on business. Pros: Fresh food Friendly staff Delicious chicken lettuce wraps Clean Priced appropriate Nice ambiance Great location Cons: None the place was awesome

Decent sushi restaurant within walking distance of the Sheraton Grand Hotel. Friendly service and a nice variety of maki rolls. Regular Chinese and Thai food also available. Drinks were okay.

Worth the wait. Eclectic Asian menu, great broad selection. All of it good. Attentive service, even with the crowd. Packs a lot of people in, but meandering dining room feels intimate.

Popped in to Wokcano for a quick bite and while the happy hour was on, we decided to go with the standard menu. It offered a fantastic variety and our attentive servers were quick to settle us in and start taking your order...drinks, the food. The food was on our table quickly and tasted great. Both orders were fresh and tasty. There was no rush to get us from our table. Nice

Started with some excellent apps... Brussel sprouts were a table favorite. Everyone enjoyed their meals...I enjoyed the Singapore style noodles. Great service, excellent selection with tastey dishes.

Well managed restaurant with professional staff and a wide variety of food offerings. Service was good with the exception of a minor mixup on delivering my choice for a main (one side and one app) before my soup. Roasted Brussels sprouts especially good. Wine choices very nice.

Great Rolls and Apps and nice full bar and cocktail menu. The Peacock roll was particularly delicious and something I had never had before. Had a lovely meal and a great time.

I always have such a hard time ordering food, but Wokcano makes it super easy. They have a Love Boat for 2 which includes to rolls, sushi, and sashimi. It definitely gets you full for a great price. The customer service here is exceptional! Everyone is extremely nice and I really like how they have booth seatings. The quality and price of food is great. You will get your moneys worth here. I wish they had a place in Orange County!

We went with another couple who live in LA for lunch, which seems to be a rarity that a sushi restaurant is open for lunch. The interiors I thought were pretty good and it had a good vibe. We ordered so many different dishes, I can't remember them all. Our friends wanted an option of sushi with no rice, which she's had in other restaurants we've been to but the chefs said this wasn't possible but they offered to do brown rice instead. The food was really good and in good size portions, so much so, we had to take some food home with us. The service was absolutely fine and we'd go back again.

We stumbled upon this restaurant & so glad we did! The food was great & so was the service. Highly recommended!

It was our first time dining at this restaurant after the suggestion of a friend. Javier, our server, made our experience very pleasant and helpful. We ordered basil shrimp, crab fried rice, Lo mein noodles, lemon chicken, and mixed vegetables. The lemon sauce that you pour over the lemon chicken made it taste so good and lemony. The shrimp lo mein noodles had a great flavor and the crab fried rice was simply delicious. The whole meal was some of the best Asian food in the downtown area. Easily accessible from the train...Expo, Red or Purple line it was the perfect stop after the play. The atmosphere is conducive for meetings, couples, or if you're single and want a great meal.

Wokcano includes a full kitchen menu, so if you're not into sushi, there is still something to please everyone. The fish was fresh and nicely presented. The rolls were a little too saucy for my taste. We all thought it was very odd that, with the exception of the soup and salad course, everything was delivered at once. Literally, our appetizer (duck wraps), sashimi deluxe platter, sushi rolls, and hot courses all arrived at exactly the same time. It would have been nice if they had coursed it out a bit.

Our last night in LA and we wanted something nearby and chose this place. We ordered the edamame, both the salted and spicy..spicy was nicely done. We also ordered pork dumplings that were very tasty. I had the sake sampler which was unique..particularly the blueberry. The various sushi we ordered were nicely presented and very fresh. Our overall experience was very good.

Great place for drinks and sushi, dumplings and other asian dishes. And open till 0200! We loved all the things we ordered, and the coctails were favorably priced. Nice staff!

Good food, very big portions, enough to share the take out box with a homeless. Good sake and plum wine.

Absolutely a fantastic experience. Service was terrific. My wife and I had a green salad, wonton soup and the sashimi selection. Everything was over the top. Between the salad and soup that could have been the entire meal. The sashimi selection was generous and well worth the money. If I lived in LA this would be my regular go to place. Can’t say enough about the entire experience!!!

This restaurant was located in downtown a couple blocks from LA live. The staff was friendly, place was clean and modern, and set up with bar area, tables, and in the back they had a large room with two tables for parties over 7 people. Great cocktails. (Sangria!!) Tasty apps (spiced edamame, albacore sashimi with ponzu). Each meal was impressive with presentation and taste. Sushi rolls were delicious and reasonably priced. Loved the peacock and late party roll. Asian food (chow mein, pad Thai and orange chicken were also tasty and filling. FYI - happy hour after 10 for 7$ sake bom. I will definitely return!! Enjoy!!

We were staying at the Hilton and wanted to eat at an Asian restaurant within walking distance from our hotel and Wokcano fit the bill. We were pleasantly surprised with the large portion sizes than what were were used to. If we had known this, we would not have opted for the add-on of soup and salad. We also ordered a side of fried wonton cheese puffs, and a side of tempura sweet potatoes. Everything tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. I had the Teriyaki chicken and my husband had the spicy szhezuan chicken when I didn't care for too much, but the Teriyaki chicken was on point and came with 2 chicken breast and steamed green beans plus all the other stuff. For the 2 of us it was around $67.00 before tip. To keep the price down you can stick to appetizers and sushi and still have plenty to eat. Service can use some improvement. Seemed like they were short staffed the day we went.

Great location in the center of downtown LA. Nice modern restaurant with good quality food and good quick service. The menu has a good variety of options and the meal sizes are very large. I thought the tastes were very good. Service was good and quick. This is a good lunch place and great for business meetings. There is also a private room for small groups to work and enjoy the food.

Nice atmosphere in the middle of downtown! Friendly staff and food was very good and portions generous.

Came here on a Saturday night with friends. The bar area is awesome and the bartenders are nice as well.

The restaurant had a nice buzz, when we where entered. Quick to be seated. Menu was quite elaborate with many options. We ordered, appetizers, sushi and rolls. Food came in quick and was good.

This restaurant is located at the corner of Flower and 7th in downtown Los Angeles. My friends and I had some extra time after office so we decided to try this place. It was packed and it took us some time to get a table. We found out why there was a line - the drinks and the bar food menu are varied and delicious, the prices are very affordable and the portions are generous. We ended up ordering seconds. If you are ever in downtown LA between 4-7PM and you have some time to spare try the happy hour at Wokcano.

Went with some coworkers after a long day at the office. The sushi was good, however the chicken curry had no flavor, which surprised us. The service was lacking as well. Needless to say we wont be back.

Ate here with my wife and two daughters (ages 20 and 19) during our stay in downtown Los Angeles. We chose the restaurant for its proximity to our hotel and because we wanted sushi. And because our oldest daughter had been here before on a date and thought the sushi was excellent. We made a reservation via another web service, were seated promptly on our arrival, and proceeded to have a terrific meal in a comfortable, casual setting. The highlight was no doubt our server, a remarkably pleasant and upbeat woman (and yes, an aspiring actress). I thought the food was very good, if not spectacular. I don't think this is the spot to expand your sushi or Asian food horizons, but I would be happy to eat here again.

I used to live in Southern California and would go to the Wokcano in Pasadena from time to time. I was in Los Angeles, staying downtown, and chose to order food from Uber Eats one night when I did not have plans to go out. Wokano was a great choice, and while traffic downtown is bad, the delivery arrived quickly -- via bike delivery. Bravo!

Open late, amazing food. Seriously, the hype is real. BFF and I went for a weekend in LA and came here after seeing Ovo @ Microsoft Theater. We LOVED: the hot and sour soup, calamari, crab wontons (BEST EVER) and chicken gyoza. AMAZING FOOD!

I was staying staying downtown LA for a business trip and was looking for a healthy food option after a couple of days eating primarily fried food. I ordered a combination of sushi and sashimi and everything was very fresh and delicious.

This is a place you will want to go out of convenience if you happen to be downtown. The sushi is fine but nothing special. Their range of dishes are unremarkable.

Wokano does provide a fairly consistent experience where you can trust their sushi options and provide for a good meal. I absolutely love their Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice dish and Truffle Salmon Roll - two items that seem to be Wokano specialties. The cocktail menu is robust here and I've even had their fish entrees (SeaBass and Salmon) in the past which were both really delicious.

Was staying at hotel next door and ordered some sushi to go from here. Sushi was really tasty and their menu has nice varieties. Very comfy place to eat in as well.

Wokcano's food is excellent! And the entrees come as a dinner, not a la carte, so they offer good value with a salad and soup. Wokcano seems popular with the local office workers and has a vibrant/loud happy hour, but the back of the restaurant is quiet and pleasant. The sushi rolls are fresh and excellent. I'd recommend the Spicy Basil Shrimp – there’s some real heat on this dish, but its excellent. More on my trip to Los Angeles: http://bit.ly/P6oYF5

One of the quieter restaurants downtown, it has a good Sushi and an extensive Asian menu, small but good wine list, friendly service and perfect for an evening with friends.

The Triangle, The Dragon, The Walnut Shrimp!! The atmosphere! The service! Oh - The wanton soup! Really enjoyed it.

We found this place just up from our hotel the first night in LA, we were so happy with the food, service and price we ate here 3 out of our 4 nights in LA. Good variety of food, fantastic flavours, if you have a dish where you can add the soup and salad and rice for $4 then do it. The sour soups is really nice, this side is almost a meal on its own. The sushi is great also. This is very busy restaurant with nice decor and lots of atmosphere.

Happy Hour specials everyday I was in LA. We couldn't tear ourselves away. The food was terrific, the drinks were good, the staff was friendly. W We discovered this little gem just a few blocks form the hotel (Westin Bonaventure) and were literally there everyday of our stay! I HIGHLY recommend if you are in downtown to get by at least once. Its worth it.

Honestly, the food wasn’t great. It was edible, but a little weird. The meats all had a chewy/spongey texture - specifically the black pepper beef mignon and the lemon chicken. I had the pad thai and it was pretty good. There was a lot of pad thai sauce and it was a little funky (smell and twang in the flavor) but I’m just going to assume it was due to an authentic ingredient that I haven’t experienced before. You have to try the monkey brains! Delicious! Now here’s a real pro tip - the portion sizes are DOUBLE a normal serving. Absolutely made to share. The service was excellent. Very friendly staff and quick service. I might go back and try something else next time. The menu is large and worth another try.

I dined alone at this pan-Asian restaurant and found it too dark to be able to read and too noisy to be able to speak on the phone comfortably.

Told it was a Japanese / Oriental fusion restaurant by the very helpful waitress , thoroughly enjoyed a reasonably priced, very nice meal. It was obviously the place to eat as we watched lots of trendy young couples (men in suits but no socks!) take up tables and enjoy an evening.

This is a great little restaurant and the place was hopping the night we were there. Great food - thai, chinese, and the service was very good despite all the people! Good prices too.

Busy place but not so much so that we couldnt get a seat without a reservation. Large varied menu, didnt try the sushi which seemed popular, however the dumplings were disappointing to say the least, the salt pepper calamari was dry and had more batter than anything else, seaweed salad was just ok but wouldnt recommend it, the only dish we enjoyed despite not being authentic is the cumin lamb stiry fry, tender and generous. Service and ambiance was lovely.

If you are in the downtown Los Angeles area Wokcano is an excellent choice for your culinary pleasure. We enjoyed delicious food artistically presented in an attractive and comfortable setting. The staff was welcoming and helpful from the greeting and seating thru our departure. We felt a well balanced presence of staff - there with just what you needed without hovering... We returned for a second time in the short time we were visiting LA. When the wine we had enjoyed the previous visit was not the same, apparently they had substitution on the wine list on our first visit, they made it right. We would recommend the Louis Martini Cabernet Sauvignon to compliment your meal. The green beans were exceptional as was the sushi. Treat yourself, your palate will thank you!!!

It took almost an hour and a half for the food. I ordered wonton soup which had one wonton and the chicken did not look like chicken.👀👀 an animal yes chicken no. I also ordered Teriyaki chicken which looked like a grilled chicken breast they had dropped on the floor. Teriyaki sauce on the side! Lomein noodles were overcooked and all stuck together! Now I realize I was born, raised, and live on the east coast and things tend to vary on the west coast! But Soy Sauce is suppose to be dark I thought. Chicken broth is at least golden and not clear!!! This was truly an horrible order!

Came upon this by chance the food was very good as was the service my only gripe was that it was very noisy but hey we were all young once

So Ive been to all the sushi places (for the most part ) downtown. Best is WOKCANO!!! I love this place and best of all they also deliver. Always delicious, chill atmosphere, just love it, Definitly go here I send people here all the time and go often myself for their happy hour

Loved this restaurant and ate there several times both for lunch and dinner. We were staying downtown but would definitely travel to get there if necessary

I went there with my group for dinner. At the end I received a receipt for 28$ which I paid with my card - unfortunately some days later I receive 68$ charge without reason. They only wanted to take advantage of tourists and they money.

We ordered from our hotel so that they could deliver,it was late night and I was given an estimate of an hour or so..about 40 minutes later I received a call from the delivery guy and I couldn't understand what he was saying it took a good 5 minutes to get established. When he dropped off the food he didn't seem to be in such a good mood and was just really rude,I ordered the spicy ribs and somehow ended up getting them sweet..Will not be ordering from here next time we're in LA.

Food and service here is excellent with a laidback atmosphere. We tried the Korean short rib, peacock sushi, spicy crab tempura sushi, spicy salmon rolls and volcano sushi. All was absolutely delicious, even for a picky teen. If you're in Downtown LA, try it. You wont be disappointed.

While the staff at Wokcano was very friendly and accommodating (my waitress was good spirited about the modifications I requested), I found the noodles to be a bit too greasy for my liking. The food wasn't bad, by any means; it was just average. Vegans and vegetarians will be pleased to find that there is a dish with 'mock chicken' offered.

So I stayed downtown LA for a couple of weeks and tried everything from $200 sushi to taco food trucks. I was skeptical about Wokcano because it is owned by a corporation and they have many branches. However, I went back twice as it was a great place to hang out and eat some really good food. First, it is open till 2 am -- honest. And a nice crowd till the end. Second, the garlic wings are awesome, and the sushi usually very good (a bit uneven in consistency during my visits). Staff is amongst the friendliest I have encountered in any part of the world. Try it out. Especially if you have a large crowd and/or don't want to spend a fortune on dinner.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing. I had the Maki roll dinner. I have no complaint with the price or the amount of food. There was soup, salad as well as ample rolls. This was $19.00 not bad for LA, but the salad was not at all elegant with large pieces of lettuce with chips on top and an overly sweet dressing. The soup was overly salty and lacked good flavor and the rolls didn't look or taste fresh but as if they'd been sitting for a while

Wokcano is on 7th, right in the heart of downtown. We took a leisurely walk from the Bonaventure to eat dinner here. Very pretty with a friendly staff. My husband had a sushi combo and I had two rolls. We both had hot (crazy hot!!!) tea. The food was well presented and were generous portions. I had a spicy scallop roll and a California roll, both of which were delicious. This is a nice sushi option when staying downtown.

Wocano is my favorite asian food chain restaurant. Great Calamari with garlic, onions and peppers and the crab fried rice is so yummy. My favorite is the monkey roll (i think thats the name)? Its a fried ball of yummy with crab meat and tuna. May not look good but the taste is great.

I went with a group of 23 and as a vegetarian I had to fight off the carnivores for the dishes i had ordered. Everything was very good - the crispy brussel sprouts were a definite winner with both groups of eaters. If I lived in LA would definitely return.

Was seated in the bar area as a solo diner. First off, the good. The food was really good and the portions were HUGE. I started with soup and salad. The soup was meh. A little too earthy for my tastes. The salad was great. It was large for a starter salad and was really fresh tasting. The dressing was excellent, too. I then had the grilled salmon with white rice. I have never seen a piece of fish this big served at a restaurant! It was easily 3 servings. And boy was it good. Yum! Now to the other….There was only one person working behind the bar. It wasn’t jam packed, but there were maybe 4-5 at the bar and another 5-6 at bar tables. The bartender was working very hard and was as sweet and as pleasant as could be, she just needed another one of herself and it would have been better service-wise. All in all it was good and I will plan on trying it again if in the area.

I was in downtown L.A. for a conference, and my colleagues and I were hungry and ready for lunch. We walked in and the nice hostess was attentive and quickly sat the four of us. The menu is a fusion of multiple Asian influences, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean mainly and blended with a California style cuisine. Each of the four of us ordered a different dish, one a dragon roll, one a calbi korean shortribs, one a combination fried rice, and one had a salmon dish so we can all sample something different. Each dish was heavily seasoned and much soy sauce applied, and eventually each separate dish began tasting very similar to each other. Perhaps it was the busy lunch hour in which the kitchen was not quite up to par, or this type of cooking was the regular line up. All four of us began to crave water after eating at Wokcano probably due to some heavy seasoning used. The service was quick, cordial, and responsive. The dining room was busy and noisy, so it is not a place for a business lunch meeting, but more of a casual social environment. All in all, we might return, but worth a try if you are in the area. Apparently there are multiple locations throughout Los Angeles, and was informed by my hotel concierge that it is a popular restaurant for the Kardassians of pop tv fame. I am happy the restaurant was busy and popular, but was so so for my colleagues and myself.

Be of few restaurants near our hotel that had late night hours on Sunday night. We had been to a show and looking for a nice dinner to cap off the evening and Wokcano delivered. We had wontons, special fried rice, beef and broccoli, and Korean spare ribs. All were full of incredible flavor and great presentation. Although it took a moment to get seated, was close to full at close to 11pm, the service was excellent.

This is one of my favorite go to places in downtown LA. The food is asian, asian fusion , sushi.. and all is very good. Check their menu on line The Happy Hour is good for tap, well and shelf. Staff and service is friendly and efficient. Both bar, lounge and table seating. There is a private dining area for a group.

Wouldn't go out of my way for a nice dinner, but the bar area is good to hang with friends and watch the game. Or after a late night out for some food other than street meat. The food is average. I like the Calamari here, it is served with a spicy mayo. And the wings are good. Happy hour prices and menu is pretty good. And they deliver which is great when you are too lazy to get ready to go out or don't feel like cooking. Sushi is usually pretty good, but better in store than delivered. I find the noodle and rice dishes to be bland.

I went here for a quick bite to eat at lunch. Had the 12pc sashimi meal which included salad and miso soup and it was very good.

Great restaurant for sushi in downtown LA. Nice beer selection too. Was not too busy on the weeknight that I stopped in, so no reservations needed. But could see the restaurant being busy towards the end of the week and on the weekends. Highly recommend Wokcano if you are in the neighborhood.

I would consider the menu a more of an asian style menu over just your typical Chinese food. Although mostly Chinese dishes, they also serve Japanese style (including sushi) and some Thai style dishes. Food is very good but a bit on the pricey side.

We ordered Hot and Sour Soup, Spicy Tofu, Szechwan Chicken and Ginger Fried Rice, and a couple glasses of wine. The service was great, and the food was average.

Excellent Service and good food but nothing out of the ordinary. Great curry dishes and seafood but spicy.

Had delivery for eight people: sushi, rolls, garlic chicken and other dishes. All dishes were good but not OMG good. None of the eight people had any complaints. Lunch ran about $45 per person (food only) but we had plenty.

We are visiting DTLA and have had many recommendations but seriously Wokcano? Part of a chain but the food was quite good with enormous portions. Thought we had not ordered enough but wow. Would highly recommend. Great seasoning. Both Chinese dishes we tried were great. They also have sushi which we did not indulge in.

Went for rolls and beer. They have both. Actually a great selection of rolls and very tasty! A more limited list of draft beers. Location is very convenient in downtown LA. Nice restaurant, and good service. I'll be back.

A relief to have healthy food. We ordered as we went in order not to over order. Great atmosphere and very reasonably priced.

Spinach fried rice was pretty tasty, as well the hand rolls. The Jameson was the best part though...

This restaurant looks the part. Modern and great decor. 5 chefs standing behind the sushi counter. But this place is all looks and no substance. The food lacked any flair or finesse. I am suspicious that they only have cooks (not chefs) on the premises, Dumplings come with extra thick pastry and very little filling. The wrappers are so thick that they come slightly under done. They are clearly made by someone without ant expertise. Ma Po Tofu, a szechuan staple, had no hint of chilli or the numbing effect of szechuan pepper. This should not even be called Ma Po. Food was all served lukewarm to cold. I think this was mainly because everything was plated onto cold plates, which is again a beginner mistake. This is also meant to be a such restaurant, but the hand rolls we were served were roughly made which makes me further doubt the training of the sushi chefs as well. Deep fried brussel sprouts were good and the Beef Chow Fun was also good if a little oily. Very short wine list and a short sake list, although everything is by the glass. Service here is also lacklustre. There are plenty of staff but they tend to stand at the back of the restaurant after taking your order to fold napkins and chat. There are two tiers of waiter - those that take your order and then disappear and those that serve the food and clear the tables. I think this system only further encourages the first waiters to take your rider and disappear. The staff that serve the food and clear the tables are not able to help if you need anything. So twice we were forced to get out of the table and walk to the rear of the restaurant to get service. Staff have no knowledge of the wine list and virtually none of the food. So it seems they must eat elsewhere. I have been to worse, but there are also plenty of places much better.

I love Chilean sea bass, and this place did not disappoint! It melted in my mouth! Portions are good-size, and my friends loved all of the sushi they ordered! The only thing lacking was a dessert at the end of the meal, if you are so inclined. They only offered ice cream and coffee. Otherwise, it was a tremendous meal!

Every time I work in Downtown LA, I visit Wokano. Walking distance from the Westin Bonaventure. Fun ambience. My co-worker and I must time visiting this place. Although the bar is hoping and the restaurant is filled, there's never much of a wait. The food and drinks are spot on and awesome. Fun getaway after the work day.

love their food. they have a good variety of rolls, and love their black pepper beef. also like the walnut shrimp. they also have a great bar. was there for their happy hour, and the pricing is good.

Dined with family and friends on 26 May 2016 during our maiden trip to Los Angeles in this mid-price range Asian Cuisine speciality restaurant. Conveniently located near our downtown hotel Milner and within close proximity of 7th Street/ Metro Centre, the restaurant was a popular dining place for young and old as was informed by my friend, a local resident here. Friendly staff provided attentive service having great ambience and comfortable seating. The tuna sushi was delicious and melted in our mouth like butter. The spicy Singapore Noodles & Shrimps were also quite delicious and was cooked to a nicety. The restaurant has a valet parking / parking garage facility convenient for the diners.

Visited on a Friday (game) night. The bar area was lively. Beer was good and the food was flavorful. Worth a visit if you are in DTLA and enjoy Japanese food.

Nice fresh sushi and food in a lively environment. The specialty rolls are delicious with well balanced combos of ingredients. The chicken curry dish was a bit bland. The pear cocktail was fabulous and very refreshing. Service was good and friendly.

If you like crowds, elbow to elbow eating and having to yell so your prtner can hear you then this is your place. Food was just average and horribly expensive. Dinner for two with no alcohol was over 125.00. This is a hopping place and people do get dressed up to go here. I won't be back.

I was excited to try the food as it looked like a nice place and was near my hotel. The service was nice and so was the atmosphere. Then the food - the hot sour soup had nice ingredients but you had to go through an inch of grease to get to them. I also go the crab fried rice but it was tasteless and lacking crab and cucumber the two main ingredients. Lastly the Mao po tofu. This is supposed to be a spicy dish but their version tasted, well, like tofu in grey gravy. I normally never use the soy packets that come with take-out but was grateful for them.

4* Wokcano DT Los Angeles High quality Cantonese food and sushi Efficient food service Nice beer selection, especially large Asahi and Kirin Loved the broccoli and beef; double kung pao (chicken and shrimp); white fish w/veggies Brown rice is an option

great food!! Fresh sushi and some creative styles. The curry chicken was a bit basic, sadly but everything else was great!!

The staff is friendly, decor is nice and service is excellent! Would definitely come here again and also recommend it to anyone who is in Dtla.

very good place to eat highly recommend this restaurant very nice food very nice service personnel very nice

Wish I could have rated this higher. The Monkey Brain was the only dish I cared for; cucumber salad was too spicy and not listed as that spicy. The wonton soup was unpalatable. Expensive and not worth it.

Excellent food with a nice Sushi Bar and a menu that provides options that everyone will enjoy. I recommend it.

Terrible service avoid this place at all costs ! Go upstairs for better Asian styled food. Food was sent back and the manager refused to refund us even though we hadn't touched the food

Wakanos has a great happy hour. It starts early & they have a great happy hour menu options. We loved the peacock roll & the sunset roll & terrific sangrias. If we go to downtown again we will definitely stop here for their happy hour. The service was fast & friendly too. We didnt have to wait very long for our food or drinks.

We have eaten there twice in the last three days. The food is amazing. Fresh, tasty and huge serves. Staff very attentive and helpful. Quite reasonably priced too. Highly recommend!!

By far the most disappointing meal we have had since moving to downtown 3 months ago. Felt like were in a chain restaurant with food to match. In fact, between the dim lighting and surface finishes, it seemed somewhat dirty. This group is the parent to adjacent Green Hut Cafe, which is a great lunch place that we frequent, and Le Ka, the high-end restaurant we love, so even more of a reason for disappointment.

Four sixty year old guys who just took the train to LA from East Jesus Colorado, we live in a sushi'less town, so we figured lets try it. Glad we did. Food was very good, sushi fresh, prices surprisingly cheap for sushi. We had beers and sake', salads and sushi, fun night was had by all. Give it a shot, Salida1048

Garlic noodles with chicken - not so good- chicken was almost raw. Noodles were overkilled with garlic. The beef medallions were extremely good - very very tender beef - almost melted in my mouth Service wasnt great - waitress tried hard but it took some time to get an iced tea refill Lunch was expensive - not a cheap place And place was noisy

But this place was recommended and had a cheap HH. I had the wings- spicy and a shrimp tempura roll. The service was great. The food ok.

We really enjoyed the truffle oil spicy salmon roll. One of the few places in downtown LA where you can get food after 10 pm.

Order the Orange Chicken with white rice when you are at Wokcano's...its delicious

The food is Mediocre at best. The sushi was blah, the appetizers were blah, everything was blahhhhhh

Enjoyed the Japanese food very much. Price was as expected for downtown LA.

Sushi rolls were HORRIBLE! Practically inedible, ordered delivery through Grub Hub. Delivery was fast, that was the only good thing about it. When arrived portions were small and messy. Moderate pricing but not for quality of food. Probably better sushi out of a vending machine. Both rolls tasted as if they had been pre made and sitting around all night. I will NEVER eat here again! Stay away if you know what good sushi actually is.

Great place to spend a night and eat with friends! Sushi was awesome 💎💎 open til late night good music

I recently dined here with some coworkers. We had a nice table in the back and the room was quiet. Service was very good and attentive. The sushi was good, but when compared to my gold standard of Uchi in Austin it was just good not great. I had the volcano roll and unagi. The volcano roll had just the right amount of heat. Seems like it would be a good pre game or date night restaurant.

Mostly Japanese inspired menu. The food was all very good. Portions are very large. Great for sharing. Plenty of vegetarian options.

We went for supper and it was great. We took our 4 and 6 year old and they were very accommodating to them even though they don't have a kids menu. They got the teriyaki chicken and loved it, and we had sushi and the orange chicken. Some of the best orange chicken ever.

Went there for a late lunch and was pleasantly surprised with the decor and service. Food was pretty good and portions are big. Their monkey brain entree and pad thai was really nice and recommended. Service was attentive and price was reasonable.

Great food. Great service great drink. New years eve visit. All was excellent got seated with no reservations on NYE and had a excellent time

Great sushi, great drinks (sake bomb and pear-lychee martini is what I had), great sashimi. Went with a large party - service a tad slow. But nothing major. Will come back again.

Went there for a quick lunch and found a gem. I ate at the bar and Melanie (The Bartender) was GREAT!!!

Can't rave about the food at this place enough. All the sushi rolls were amazing, as were the hot dishes - try the crispy beef dish. Atmosphere was pretty chill - would be great for a date or nice dinner with friends. Service was great as well, highly recommend.

When we got off the plane and settled into our hotel a block away, we ate here. The atmosphere is that of a sports bar but it has a few benches away from the tumult and hubbub. The dishes are very well made and presented. The quantity is very important (we had forgotten this detail before ordering); so we left with our meal the next day at noon :D The service is friendly and efficient. A good experience, which we recommend.
Great food
I wish I could give this a higher rating because the food was delicious but service was terrible. We arrived a hour and a half before they closed and we we’re greeted maybe 20 minutes later. The server told us it was last call and we had to order everything at that time. It took another 20-30 minutes before we were served. Our food came out before we even got our drinks and we ordered Water and mixed drinks. We had to ask for silverware and even that took a minute or so before we received ours. But the food was great! Don’t order the calamari(nasty) but the sushi was amazing. We ordered a volcano roll and a Crunchy Roll. The Black Peppered Chicken was delicious. Omg it was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right. The rice wasn’t hard or under cooked and when you out that sauce from the chicken on it so good. We will give them another shot just because of the food.
