Awesome view

By Cora W |

Went for a friends birthday party and was amazed at how beautiful the view was. Right on the ocean and gets a gorgeous sunset view.

Just Say No.

By triptosip |

Himself and I went to the Wonderland Ocean Pub in Ocean Beach this past Saturday, and will never step foot in there again. Horrible. First of all, the main room with all the ocean views is so loud you can't hear yourself speak (How the health department allows this...the wait staff will definitely suffer hearing loss). We saw an empty table and asked to be seated there. We were told that the table was only for a party of 6 or more. Hmmmm-ok. We were then invited to sit in the back room. Great! Almost empty!!! We can sit anywhere we please. Wrong. Every table had the same requirement. What? Even the two person mini tables around the bar had reserved signs everywhere. It was 3:30 in the afternoon! So the entire time it took to eat a less than memorable lunch and walk out, NOT ONE person sat at the mini tables with reserved signs nor the tables for 6 people or more. It is not child friendly, again the noise level. Do yourself a favor, go back around the corner and treat yourself to a welcoming establishment known as South Beach Bar and Grille on Newport Ave. Great seafood tacos!

Great food, awful service.

By Brian C |

The food and view were great but the service Was almost nonexistent. We arrived at the restaurant at 6:15 and we got out at 8:30. In the span of a little over two hours, we may have talked with our waitress three times. It took almost 40 minutes to get a drink order in and over an hour and a half before we got our food. The only thing that was speedy about the service was getting our check. I would love to recommend this place, it’s got a cool vibe, the food is great, and the view is awesome. They even do a toast at sunset, although we didn’t have much of a sunset tonight. While these are all great things about this restaurant the service was absolutely awful and that’s why I’m giving this restaurant two stars. If the service were even slightly better, then this would be a four or five star review restaurant.

Great Views

By JOE |

I had meals here on two occasions over a 6 day stay in Ocean Beach and service was excellent and the views over the beach especially at sunset were amazing however the food was only average. Beers were good though I will be back for the beer only.

Nice food, oven view

By ShonkeyDonkey |

We went to the night market, which is great but we wanted to sit down to eat. We had to choose a place that kids could enter, this fit the bill. We asked to be seated somewhere a little quieter, as the was music playing inside and we needed a breather. Besides, there was some live music on the beach front and it was nice to just hear that. They were accommodating with the kids meal selection offering half serves for them. I had lump crab with fried green tomatoes. Not a great deal of crab but it was delicious and I liked the tomatoes which were breaded and fried. The slaw had sliced green chilli through it and it was delicious. My partner had a chicken tahini “sandwich” which is another word for roll, it wasn’t great. The view was lovely though and we really enjoyed the atmosphere.

Happy hour

By John P |

Stopped for a drink during happy hour ocean views and good service. Honestly wasn’t thrilled with happy hour menu. But enjoyed a cocktail with a great view!!

Watched nfl football

Bar tenders were great, food (breakfast and apps) was great, drinks were good- had tons of specials. Perfect view of the ocean and all the surfers.

View and food

By SileneinSing |

You have the view of the ocean, and you just can’t beat it. Week day brunch till 3 pm. I had the crab cake Benny which was delicious, runny egg which is the way it should be and it comes with potatoes. Good price points. Would totally come back.

Wow, so shocked !

By jdlittle7 |

I have eaten here for breakfast and lunch at least 2 times each. The food and Service has always been superb. NOT today, 2-16-17 . The view along the glass is exceptional and we try to sit there normally. For some reason today at around 12, just getting started took along time. Then the 3 people next to us got their food and were done before we even got our food and they sat down after us ! I could elaborate even more. Im pretty sure it was our waitress, Jennifer Ann Pappas ? Wow, shocked like I say. People are Everything !

Nice view but food could be better

By Sally M |

Despise the great reviews by San Diego Magazine, I was a bit disappointed. Food was good but wasn't something to come back to. I got the seafood ceviche sampler. The shrimp one was too spicy. Ahi tuna was good but the last one with fish was very bland and tasteless, not good at all. Just get the poke ahi and skip the other 2.

Great View Great Beer Good Food

By Van H |

Best view in Ocean Beach. The bar is great. There is a back area of the restaurant that would probably be good for kids. Can get loud and crowded out near the windows. When I was there there were free shots at sunset!

Beautiful beach view!

By Diana D |

This was my go-to spot when I lived in SD! Awesome beach view, good variety of food and tasty drinks. Great for watching games, brunch or just to hang. Def will go again when visiting!

Best Sunset

By Kelly K |

Went with a group of friends for dinner Very busy, good food and friendly staff Fantastic sunset, is a little loud.

Wonder-full!

By Mina D |

There are a few significant places to take guests from out of town and this is one of them. You can see from the pier all the way to La Jolla from this restaurant. Full menu, full bar, casual dress, Ocean Beach, beach right in front of you, underground parking and killer sunset toasts each night.

Disappointing visit

By 7Serendipity7 |

While this place has a great location overlooking the beach, I was disappointed with the food. I had the hangar steak, which was cooked well but had next to no taste. The accompanying veggies were mediocre and some were over cooked as well. I really wanted to like this place and maybe I’ll give it one more try but I’d definitely give the hangar steak a pass. They need to either marinade or season it to give it some flavor. Service was good and food came out in a decent time so no complaints from that side of things.

Best view at sunset!

By MamaspoonDiane |

The food was above average, but nothing to brag about, the service was mediocre, the view and live music was fantastic and stunning! I recommend getting there well before sunset to get a table though. Our table was taken as we stood up, before it got cleared. Its happening at sunset and probably the rest of the evening. Well worth it! Not pricey either.

Came for a beer

By Jason S |

We spent the day at the zoo and wanted a place to sit, relax and enjoy a beer. They have a great selection to choose from. They also provided great service. We got to sit by a window, watch the sky darken with night, and watch some guy on the beach try to light off some fireworks (little success). Overall it was a great place to unwind after a long day at the zoo.

Great views, good atmosphere, food disappointing.

By susan s |

Really nice place with a good atmosphere, and we had a seat at the window looking out over the ocean. The drinks were good, but the food was disappointing. I had coconut chicken which was really dry, and my husband had tacos, which were too big, and very dry and the fish one only had 2 small pieces of fish in it.

Love this place.

By Catherine C |

Wow! The view is perfect. Go for a sunset - its right across from the beach and the sunset on the water is stunning. Lovely pub. Had some live music the night we went for dinner. Service was good and the food was great. I had the tuna melt and my husband had the fisherman's stew and both were delicious. Prices are very reasonable! Perfect date night.

Amazing view

By Amanda N |

My wife and I had dinner here on vacation - the service was just ok, but with views like that who cares! We got ocean facing bar stool seats, which overlook Ocean Beach pier. We were glad we came for an early dinner - at around 5 people were starting to line up waiting for these seats. The food was delicious - cauliflower tacos and guacamole were to die for. I also ordered the cucumber cocktail which was also amazing. Live music topped it all off. If you visit Ocean Beach you must go here!

Wonderland bar

By Julie D |

Spent a beautiful afternoon here on a recent trip. Cold beers, attentive bartenders, great pretzels bites, sits up on a second level across from the beach with two sides with open windows that look out onto the beach and ocean with great sunset views.

Great Beach Location

By hattrick225 |

Great location on the beach for lunch, dinner, or just some drinks. A very good selection of Local Beers

Best View and Amazing Sunsets!

By Mina D |

If you want to get a glimpse of San Diego beach culture is, this is your spot. Vibrant, fun, wont break the bank, and casual. Menu is made up of seafood, salads, fish tacos and a perfect brunch menu. Full bar, sometimes live music and dj on the weekend nights. Come for the sunset toast! It's a fun experience. Great place for groups and families too. It's usually crowded and high energy.

Fun restaurant with a great view

By meaghan K |

My sister (who lives in San Diego) brought me and my 2 kids here for a late weekday lunch during our visit. The view is beautiful. The vibe is very relaxed, service even more relaxed, perhaps apathetic, but it sort of works here. When you're eating delicious tacos while looking at the ocean, it's hard to feel in too much of a rush to go anywhere. Food was excellent and fairly priced. My scallop taco was really yummy with the scallops cooked perfectly. I ordered garlic kale on the side which was perfectly seasoned with lots of garlic. My kids enjoyed the gnocchi and cheeseburger, both of which looked delish. Definitely recommend.

Sunset Happy Hour

By vagabondginger |

Try to snag an upstairs open window bar seat at 4pm start of happy hour and linger thru the sunset. Later it's just too noisy to enjoy. Another really good time to come is Sat or Sun 9am for the start of brunch. Or come for lunch and again try to get the good ocean view seating. Interestingly the name Wonderland comes from the old amusement park that was located here over 100 years ago. It went into foreclosure and then the tidal storms swallowed up what was left. Great place if you can get the seat you want at the right time.

Great sunset and appetizers

By Lucoid |

We went on recommendation on our last night in SD. Not a smart pub but great beach views, and perfect sunset. We had great starters - mixed fish cocktails which were stunning. Then I had the fish taco which was bitter and horrible unfortunately. Great range of beers, loud and probably not so nice later on after people have had a few. Go early - I would again

The best view in San Diego!

By jbd |

This place has it all: a great combination of super staff, delicious food, amazing cocktails and numerous local craft beers on tap. Oh, I forgot about that view! One of the few bars on beach in all of San Diego, Wonderland has absolutely stunning views of Ocean Beach, the pier, beach goers and surfers. The sunsets are absolutely epic and if you take the best photo you might win a little something. If not, you are sure to enjoy the sunset toast regardless.

Wonderland WonderFULL!!

By Roger B |

We visited Ocean Beach for a few days in February and stumbled on Wonderland following a walk on the pier and the beach. We loved it so much we had to go back again during our short stay! Our first visit occurred just before sunset so we were there in the ocean view bar when the bartender rang the bell, stopped the conversations for a moment and toasted the end of the day at sunset, giving thanks for the day - an excellent idea and beautiful moment. Drinks and food were fantastic (I had the pretzel balls with beer cheese dip and the scallop tacos BOTH times I was there!) and the staff was attentive and friendly. All around, an excellent bar/restaurant for a casual California beach experience.

Unless you're a regular, forget about good service

By scouch71 |

I went there for the "shot at sunset," it is a beautiful place with an awesome view. Drinks are expensive--to be expected with such a venue. I felt completely invisible during my 90 minute stay. The bartenders were overly attentive to the regulars (their friends?) and I received --not horrible service-- just zero service at all. Go for the view, NOT the service!

Great location, view, and service

By Patricia B |

This is a great ocean side location, plenty of parking, nice shops and the beach. There is a downstairs pub and upstairs dining. Service was friendly though not quick. You can get a view of the ocean from sitting just about anywhere. Lots of choices on the menu. We had fish and chips. The batter a bit greasy but the flavors were excellent. The chips were perfect. The slaw was very fresh and tasty. Nice selection of brews.

Wonderful indeed

By TarquinNibbles |

Popped to Ocean Beach from local hotel to sample some local fayre. Sat outside on the terrace of this charming, friendly little place and thoroughly enjoyed some good food and a cold beer whilst the sun set across the water. Very friendly staff and i would have gladly paid a little more for the food. Wonderful!

Great time had by all

By justhe2ofus2017 |

Spectacular views, great cocktail menu, fresh market seafood, sports, beach bar, friendly service, fast, interesting menu, we loved it. Highly recommended, parking is an issue, come early to find some.

Sunday Funday

By Amanda M |

I highly reccommend Wonderland! Great casual fun place to get together to watch football, but not too loud and obnoxious to still hold conversations with friends. Great food and even better craft cocktails! The view is gorgeous too, never can have too many OB sunsets!

Sunsets and Beers

By Lyn H |

Upstairs open air views at sunset were amazing, great selection of local craft beers and the foor is really good, lobster & fish tacos were our choice.

A little taste of Ocean Beach

By Tabatha J |

Great eats with great views!! All the windows open up along the Oceanside making it a one of a kind dinning experience. Prefect for catching a beautiful beach sunset. Make sure to get there early because the seats fill up fast!

Nice view!

By ana_1uc3r0 |

We were there for brunch and enjoyed the view a lot. Since it was a Sunday brunch, the place was very busy and the service really slow, nonetheless, food was very good.

Our favorite spot in San Diego!

By Jillian H |

We just LOVE coming to Wonderland for the sunsets and drinks. The food here is delicious, and view is spectacular!

Great view with pretty good food.

By Dean R |

Decent beer selection with an amazing ocean view. The Chicken sandwich is excellent and should be tried. The fish, scallop and lobster tacos are very good but i have had better in OB. Great place to meet friends for a game, happy hour, or a sunset.

Perfect place to watch the sunset!

By droa92 |

Great service, great drinks, great food! If you are looking to watch the sunset this is the perfect spot. Definitely recommend for happy hour drinks and bites.

Room with a view

By Odette P |

Great outlook from this venue. We sat by an open window and watched the world go by. Lunch was a great experience. I had a tuna ahi wrap which was sensational. Huge serving as it came with fries. Others had tuna melt and lobster tacos. Both enjoyed immensely. Washed down with a nice Japanese lager.

Excellent

By sphunt |

The view was fantastic. They have a bench facing the ocean. The seafood stew pictured was excellent and hearty. Service was very good and not pressured. O would go back again

That View!

By RainJames |

This place has such an amazing view! My food was delicious and well cared for (I have some nearly unavoidable allergies). My drink was delightful and the service was fast and friendly. Ocean Pub is right by ocean beach hotel. Super convenient if you're staying in the area. Shrimp cocktail - wow! Mule - ended up having two ;)

We just stopped for a Bloody

By Cheri H |

We just stopped for a Bloody Mary snd pretzel balls. The Bloody Mary was very good it came with celery, bacon, green olive, lemon, lime and they make their own mix. It’s been a long time since I had a good tasting Bloody Mary and this was very scrumptious. The pretzel balls were filling and served with mustard and cheese. Great tasting and matched Wonderfully with the Bloody Mary perfectly. Across the street is the beach So you can watch the surfers come in and the waves. Service was excellent!!

Nice place

By MPtripletta |

In town ok business and traveled to here. I thought overall beer prices a little steep. Food, good stuff. We all had tacos, each overstuffed. Guacamole good, not great, I've had better homemade. Taco price reasonable but no sides. All very happy with food but view is what you may want here.

Best Sunset in OB

By Gretchen L |

One of the places I take all my out of town guests because the food is good, drinks are better, and the sunset out of the big open windows is the best in OB.

A Gem overlooking Ocean Beach!

By David OConnor |

Excellent variety of cuisine to choose from. Reputation for great burger menu but underrated for its seafood and guest beer listing. Order the pescadero trio platter. It is full of marinated ahi tuna, a delicious shrimp aguachile and fish ceviche to share. Leave room for the lobster tacos. The guest beers are very distinctive in flavors and range from lagers to stouts. Beautiful views from the huge window layout over the beach and its surfing community. Relaxed bar layout with TV so it is feels comfortable. Staff is quick and replenished drink without asking for water. Good experience all round. Vegetarians are going to like the garden salads and veggie burgers offered.

You MUST go to Wonderland at sunset!

By Andreea_Cl |

Oh boy - what an amazing view of the beach, the pier and the sunset - magical! There was live music when we were there and it fit great. Food is fantastic, beer menu is really interesting and variate, atmosphere absolutely fabulous - California at its best! They have this tradition “sunset shots” where everybody needs to have a shot when the sun sinks under the horizon - absolutely magnificent. Free parking just across the street. An absolute must if you are in San Diego.

Loud but wonderful

By Tina N |

The food here is fantastic, and you can't beat the view! Breakfast here is a must! The kids are well and enjoyed the view but it is definitely a pub-type atmosphere.

Quick snack and some deinks

By Melissa B |

This was our 2nd time here and at ocean beach. We came back since we enjoyed it last year and weren't disappointed. We had the guacamole with chips, black and stormy mule, and a Kentucky mule. They had the drinks on happy hour pricing and the guacamole while different was very good. I've never had macadamia nuts or sun dried tomatoes in my guacamole but they tasted good. Beautiful views rounded out another good time here.

Great people watching spot

By sket101 |

In Ocean Beach for a wedding. We stopped here for dinner the night we arrived. The beach was crazy around sunset and there was a farmer's market going on a couple streets away. We got a table with a good view and was waited on immediately. The menu was good sized. We started with the fried calamari that packed a kick in the sauce. There were 6 of us and most went to the burgers or fish and chips. The fish portion was huge and tasty. The burgers were also very good. Service was efficient. Nice spot to watch the people on the beach.

Awesome view and great food and drinks

By ABBaptiste |

When visiting San Diego, a trip to Ocean Beach is a must. Wonderland is a must go to spot. Located upstairs, the restaurant has large windows that open to the ocean. You truly know you are in San Diego with the ocean breeze blowing! After sipping on an ice cold IPA, I decided on the Woco Moco (Wonderland's version of Loco Moco). It's a grilled hamburger patty, kale and garlic fried rice, two sunny-side up eggs and housemade beef gravy. OMG.. so delicious. I recommend 100%. Great place for couples, families and big groups. A don't miss in San Diego!

Watched the sunset while enjoying the best crab fettuccine

By Suz227 |

Our hotel bartender suggested Wonderland, so we worried it was just another tourist trap. We shouldn't have second-guessed him...it was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed the sunset while having the best fettuccine I've had in a long time. (it was infused with crab and other non-traditional ingredients)

Evening meal last day of holiday

By H.W |

Slow service, waitress not totally friendly. Food mediocre to terrible. My son had chicken wings which were so greasy he couldn't eat the. All food only just warm. Nothing special- I couldn't recommend going there for anything but a drink- even then service poor.

Fabulous Place to see the sunset plus great food!

By Rosanne Z |

Very eclectic area that definitely had a California vibe. We were able to grab two seats along the open window area which gave us the perfect vantage point to see the sunset as well as watch the bubble man in the park and see the surfers trying to catch a wave. Sunset was amazing. We shared the fisherman’s stew (ordered extra garlic bread p1er our server’s recommendation) and it was incredible. The fish was so tender and fresh and the sauce to dip the bread was to die for. If I had something like this on the East Coast it would easily have cost much more. Overall this was a great spot and we were so glad we found it on TripAdvisor.

Mitch Could Use Some Customer Service Training

By jgullickson |

UGH. I really don't want to do this because I LOVE this place. Great views, great beer, great food. But we just had the worst experience the other day that left a bad taste in my mouth. My friends play volleyball in a local sports/social club that partners with bars like Wonderland to give teams pitchers of beer after the volleyball games. It's this agreement they have where the team gets a card that they exchange with the bartender for a pitcher of beer. We go EVERY week. Get the beer and spend plenty of money on additional drinks and food. It's always a great time. This past week, we had an extra card from the week prior that we tried to go to Wonderland but they had a private event and we were unable to use the card. So we kept it and used it at the bar this weekend! We had this card, the card from that day's game, and a third "free pitcher" card from our opponents who weren't able to make it to the bar that day. So we went to the bar, drank beer, and ordered $90 of food. After pitcher 3 was delivered we were approached by the bar manager Mitch who said "Hey guys, I saw that that's your 3rd pitcher. Normally we have a guy from (the sports/social club) as a liaison to handle situations like this, but he's not here so we're going to have to charge you for 2 of the pitchers" They were $20 each, by the way. We tried to reason with him, hey man we didn't know, the bartender said it was cool. At that point, Mitch threatened the bartender's job right in front of us despite our pleas to not take it out on him. Mitch said he couldn't run the cards in the system because it doesn't work that way, and we asked, what if had just been 3 separate teams ordering beer? Surely you could make it work since we didn't know, and we come to your restaurant weekly and order tons of food. He was extremely rude and clearly has never experienced any kind of customer service training. At the end of the day, it was 2 pitchers of beer vs. weekly customers who spend hundreds of dollars at the bar and restaurant, and he chose to nickel and dime us for those beers. Mitch, we will not be back and it is 100% of the way you abuse your customers.

Good food and service

By Scott |

I had the ceviche and my business partner had a wrap. The ceviche was decent size and quite tasty. It came with plenty of chips. My friend enjoyed his rap. Service was quite good. Diet Coke glass always full. Server very friendly. Restaurant almost empty, but still playing good '80s music. Bathrooms clean. This looks like it would be a great place after dark for food and drinks. Easy curbside parking at 2:00 p.m. on a Monday. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be back here for food.

Fun Surfside Spot

By Concord119 |

Very happy to receive this recommendation from some locals. Lots of restaurants in this area but we wanted an ocean view. Wonderland Ocean Pub is on the second floor so ocean views are available from every seat. Great food and drinks! A fun spot!

Nice view

By Meghan M |

Came here for a bite and a beer - had a delicious cream ale on nitro that made my night. I love that you have a nice view and can hang out with the windows open at this place. Had tacos - one cauliflower and one fish. The former was delicious and had great flavor, but the latter was underwhelming. The fish was a bit over cooked and overall didn’t have much flavor. However it was pretty busy, staff were all great, and I’d definitely choose this as a spot to visit again.

Good food, Great views

By Trish S |

Wonderland Ocean Pub in OB is a must! Anytime of the day is a good time to go for ocean views; happy hour and sunsets are the best time. The food and views more than make up for the average service.

Can’t speak to the food

By Scott N |

Can’t speak to the quality of the food because we couldn’t even get seated. We stood at the entrance waiting to be seated before we had a few menus thrown at us and told that it was open seating. We took a high top table and waited for service. First person that showed up told us we couldn’t sit here because it was reserved for bigger groups. We decided to take our business elsewhere.

the view

By Maps204160 |

Loved the ocean view, I enjoyed the extra crispy wings they were wonderful. My waiter was very helpful and very happy. the beer is very cold. I enjoyed the the place. but the view. nice pub

Bruch with a View

By Spencers Gone Nomad |

Stopped by for Sunday Bruch. Great view of OB to watch the surfers catch waves near the pier with its upstairs seating. Clean restaurant and quick service for a busy Sunday.

Great View, Great Food, Great Value!!

By Roger S |

I LOVE what they have done with Wonderland in Ocean Beach! The food and drink are only surpassed by the view. Excellent value and a great vibe with staff that seems to enjoy their work and having fun with the customers. Highly reccommend this place day night - it will NOT Disappoint.

Nice Spot

By Garry M |

This restaurant overlooks the ocean and the second level window seats has an excellent view of the surf. Food was great and service not bad. Recommend this as a good lunch and dinner place with a view.

Great food

By Patricia t |

At first we thought it was just a sportsbar and did not expect much fron the food. But we were pleasantly surprised by the great food they serve.

Excellent food and views!

By Dachshund Dad |

I came to San Diego in August for my birthday and Wonderland was one of the restaurants we tried. We are SO GLAD we did. The food, mostly seafood but also a number of beef, chicken, and pork dishes (try the chili!), is excellent! The fish and chips were perfect, the calamari had a nice kick to it, and the chowder fries are a bust have. I have no idea how they can smother french fries in clam chowder and cheese and not have the fries get soggy. The view is also amazing. It's the perfect spot to sit and look out at the ocean. It may be a bit of a wait to get the view, but it's well worth it. Go during sunset!

Fantastic atmosphere with good food

By Hatcher08 |

Met a friend for dinner - and sunset. What a fantastic location!! I love the fact that there is a group toast at sunset. Fun!! The atmosphere was great. The food was great (I had the surfer's teriyaki bowl) and my friend had the buffalo cauliflower along with a salad. This will be on my list of "places to visit" each time I return to the San Diego area.

Still excellent!!!

By Chris C |

We eat here every time we visit San Diego. The food is always fantastic and the service is great as well. We love the view of Ocean Beach from the bar at Wonderland. Best Bloody Mary in town. Best breakfast in town. Best lunch in town. Best service. If you go to San Diego, go to OB and eat at Wonderland.

Beautiful sunset

By Hélène C |

Come for the sunset! This pub has very large windows, a prime spot to see the sunset on the beach. Food was nice and service was fine. Great live music too! Don't miss it if you visit Ocean Beach

Amazing

By vanessb. |

Tried the lobster taco... DELICIOUS!!! As well as the happy hour drinks.. delicious, strong and tasty! The place itself is super nice and you get a great view of the beach! Love love and love!!

Rude staff

By Nicol |

We spent 7 days in Ocean Beach and of all the places we ate and visited this place by far had the rudest employees. We walked out before ordering. Based on that impression alone I would never go back.

Great food! Great place !

By Maureen P |

The food is delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. The only thing I can complain about is trying to find a parking spot and the bathroom was kind of dark but other than that it's all worth the visit.

Wouldn’t go back

By Cindy02352 |

The view was wonderful. Drinks were pretty good. The mussels were overdone and tough. The salsa was so hot it hurt my chest when I ate it. The waitress never brought a box for leftovers after being asked twice. She was not very friendly.

4/5 for the view

By Drax90 |

I think it's quite turistic even if I went in with a San Diego friend who took me there. Plates where ok, service was good. In my opinion you can find places like this everywhere in San Diego. One cool thing about Wonderland OP is the view, that's great!

Sundown fun!

By Leesa R |

This is the best place to be, hands down, when the sun goes down. They pass out "sundown shots", ring a bell and give a toast to the sun going down. So much fun and the most amazing view of the OB pier at sundown (or anytime). Super friendly wait staff.

Great View with Casual Atmosphere

By Ray Shaheen |

Wonderland is right on the beach, two blocks from the pier. It has a very beach-oriented feel and good food. Most tables offer a good view of wild surf and surf-boarders. Many seafood choices, and salads but limited vegan options.

Great food spot in the heart of OB.

By Jim H |

We visited Wonderland twice over our weekend in Ocean Beach, once for Breakfast and once for late night drinks. Breakfast was solid and they have $10 bottles of sparkling wine with a splash of your favorite juice for breakfast on weekends.

VERY GOOD SPECIALS & HAPPY HOUR.

By ROSE S |

Came mostly for the incredible views, but very pleased with HAPPY HOUR. Great service, food offerings, and beer selections. An excellent value and an unhurried meal.

The servers make this place!

By Klgusty |

Our family enjoyed 3 meals here during our week's vacation in Ocean Beach. The food was great and we consistently were pleased with our meals. However, I do want to say that the service was exceptional. Rarely do I see such commitment to service and love of job from service staff at casual restaurants, especially those in tourist areas like this. Smiles all around with patience and attention to detail were obvious.

The bar facing the beach looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months

By K3857 |

Recently went to this spot for food and drinks. The bar facing the ocean was very dirty and not just because it was a busy day, it looked like it hasn't been properly sanitized in months. The majority of our drinking glasses were dirty and not scrubbed very well. We eventually got to our table and our server was very careless. We had to wave her down to get her attention and waited more than 5-8min just to have our beer delivered to us. Other than the view, this place was very disappointing. Go somewhere else!

Amazing view and great drinks

By rebeccabS8464ON |

Great service, awesome view with even better drinks. You can sit and sip while watching the waves or the sunset.

Fabulous Food and View!

By WaterGirl55 |

Recently stopped in with my husband to enjoy an early lunch. We had Fish & Chips which were so delicious. Very light, nice portions and absolutely cooked to perfection! Pair with an amazing Bloody Mary and you are good to go! Great beachside view of surfers and pier. Really liked the ambience and great, friendly service. Will be back soon!

Great View, Good seafood

By RustyWater |

Great place for a drink and there fisherman's Stew is very good. We had a large group, reserved a large table and received excellent service. Good choice of beers and great items on the menu. Group of 14 people all enjoyed various items from the menu including the rice plate. The place is somewhat of s dive bar and the atmosphere is loud. Great view of the sunset.

Most romantic and lovely place at noon

By Katherine N |

All I can say is this place takes my breath away when I go during lunch time. Not very busy and the views are incredible. Food is great as well. Totally relaxing early in the day. Love

Better view upstairs, better service downstairs

This place is a ton of fun! They ring the bell at sundown, as they should to honor the sun's beautiful setting and God's awesome artwork every night! Food was ok to good. Service was a bit off. But the view is BEAUTIFUL!

Overpriced tourist spot

By Gale Force |

If you are looking for something not quite so "local" and want over priced drinks and terrible service with an amazing view then this is the place for you.

Wonderland has wonderful seafood!

By gcotant |

Great views of Ocean Beach pier and surfers! The raw oysters and ceviche were excellent. I'd give 5 stars, but the noise level was too loud for my personal taste.

Bueatiful views

By c0ffeegeek007 |

Fantastic view with great food

By clmatthe05 |

We initially thought we would come here to eat dinner and watch the sunset but it was packed (not surprisingly) so we enjoyed the sunset at the end of the pier and then came back to a more empty restaurant that still had amazing views. We loved the vibe of the restaurant and the service was great. We ordered pretzel balls with beer cheese and fish and chips and loved both.

The Bar with the absolute Best View in Ocean Beach

By blpettyaz |

Great Bar food, fun atmosphere, local music and Happy Hour specials. Sometimes they get very busy, but it is always a good time. Try to sit by a window, it's worth it.

Suds and Sunsets

By Ann C |

If you want to have an amazing vantage point to watch the sunset go to Wonderland. Their seating is perfectly directed towards the sunset and there is tons to see other than the sun setting. They have delicious food and I totally recommend going there.

Weekend dinner

By Mike B |

Came in for dinner and they’ve definitely set up the restaurant to ensure adequate social distancing. Staff was nice and responsive, but they were slammed so service was a little slow. Oysters were good, and so was the ahi tuna. My friend got the grilled fish and got sick, but not sure what it was. Would come back as they get used to being reopened, but probably not for a while.

Great Food & View

By Tammy C |

Our group of 4 all had a great meal. We had great service, a great view, and got lucky because it was happy hour and the happy hour specials are great. The fish tacos are huge.

Lunch

The pescadero sampler was the best thing we had short of the saffron cream mussels! The open seating window views are incredible. Perfect place to kick off the trip.

1st visit

By Everett H |

Very good food variety , different menu Something for everyone. Appetizers to main course very good overall Great location and view!

Warriors Game 7

By Alexandra T |

We visited Wonderland Ocean Pub after looking online for a place to watch basketball and see the sunset. We definitely got both! The bar was so crowded with basketball fans that there were no tables available so we had to stand at the bar. We grabbed the first waitress we saw to order a drink because the bartenders were VERY busy. We ordered spring rolls and calamari, finger foods since we were standing. Everything was delicious, the spring rolls were fresh and the dipping sauce was tasty. The calamari was hot and flavorful and the sauce with them was fantastic. We finally found a spot to sit along the window and watched the sunset after the Warriors lost. Great location and decent service.

Everything was Awesome!

By stpluv |

I used to think this place was only good for drinks and the view but I went back recently and boy have things changed for the better! Everything we ordered was delicious and the view and the beer was still amazing! They are keeping the tables clean and they have plastic partitions, which makes the table seating seem more private. One of the best establishments in San Diego.

Drinks after golf

By Chiplovesjudy |

This place i great .My husband and I had the shrimp sandwich with a spicy sauce. Omg yum. Now I am back in Texas i am having a craving for another one.PS the Sangria is awesome.

Ohhh the tacos

By SCostello69 |

I was vacationing in San Diego and wanted some fish tacos. A friend suggested this place. We went and on the menu were fresh fish tacos, but also fried cauliflower tacos. I'm. It vegetarian, but I love unusual food like that. I ordered one fish and one cauliflower. I will order the cauliflower from now on. Both were tasty but it was a surprise how wonderful the vegetarian taco was. It has a perfect view of ocean beach and the atmosphere is fun. Sunday football, beer and tacos. Perfect!!!

Best view in town

By ann k |

We sat right by the window facing the sunset, we got there about 45 mins before it set. The menu had a lot of fun/different things with a twist on some classic bar food. I also discovered my new favorite beer: Mother Earth vanilla cream (close?) it was heaven. I wasn't a fan of the cauliflower app with buffalo sauce, it was too spivey for my taste. But I loved the fish and chips and the calamari with mango type of sauce. They had live music towards to end and they toasted to the sunset ❤️ Will definitely be returning.

Too Loud

By Cliff P |

Stopped in for a late weekday lunch and found the place busier than I expected but was able to get a table toward the back. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor with lots of windows for the great view of the beach & pier. The seating is open with a big bar in the middle. The downside to the place is the music. They were playing classic rock which was good but at a volume that wasn’t appropriate for the time of day. It might have been a one off occurrence but I wouldn’t go back for lunch because I couldn’t carry a conversation across the table. The service was just ok, the waitress was very pleasant and offered great advice, but went missing many times and was inconsistent with checking in on us. It was busy so the place needs to get more staff. The food was pretty good. The Da Kine Guacamole was really good and liked their chips, which tasted like home made. The guac was good with a little spice. The short ribbed rolled tacos also were very good with the taste of the beer and fresh tortillas used. I couldn’t decide on the fresh fish so I went with the Pescadero Sampler. I should have gone with a full serving of the Mac Daddy Ahi Poke because it was the only fish that I thought stood up. While the food was good it was the spotty service and volume inside that will keep me from going back. It’s a pub, not a restaurant, I’d go if it was for a few drinks, but not enjoyable for a meal.

Great view

By Werekeke |

Across the street fro the beach, great place to grab a bite while enjoying the view. Fish tacos and mussels in saffron cream with margaritas!

Terrific sunset view and lively environment

By StarrySue |

This is one of the best spots for a view of the sun setting over the ocean, with drinks and food readily available. The crowd will start about 1-2 hours before the sun sets, everyone is vying for a good view, so get there early if possible. Pub food is great, lots of share plates with a tasty cocktail, I had a Paloma this time around and it was absolutely delicious. If you don't plan on packing your own picnic to take in the sunset at one of the many spots that SD has to offer, treat yourself to this terrific ocean side location.

Happy Hour With Amazing Views

By dkrstec |

Great drinks, bartenders and killer views. Can’t wait to go back for dinner. Make sure to grab a seat by the open windows.

Bring your earplugs!

By David H |

My wife and I went here for dinner on a Friday night which means the place was very busy with a musician performing. We planned on eating dinner there but the noise level was incredible...consistently 85-90 decibels. We quickly drank our wine then went downstairs to Blue Water Seafood Market where we got some fantastic seafood tacos and were able to hold a conversation while sitting outside.

Great food and great view!

By Azjackattack |

I love this place! Been twice and I thoroughly enjoy eating at the window and people watching as I eat. Their version of the loco moco was great...just bring your appetite!

Great Lunch

By Patrick J |

Had the Tuna and Guacamole app, both were well above average. Poke bowl and fried lobster taco were classic Cali Mex. Great view. Lovely place with locals abound. Great OB spot.

Great food, fantastic view

By Jeff C |

Located right across street from ocean and small park Burgers are delicious, great beer selection, full bar Enjoy it

Fabulous Fisherman's Stew

By Pat Y |

We had lunch here. I had the ahi tuna salad, which was very good and my husband had the fabulous Fisherman's Stew, complete with scollops, big shrimp, mussels, crab and a big piece of fish. We ate at the bar facing the ocean. We have also been there for happy hour, where they ring a bell at sunset and give everyone a small drink to toast with. Very fun!

Nice views and mostly good food

By rvbikelady |

We went here based on a recommendation for the views at sunset. We actually went too early for sunset, but we knew this going in. We still enjoyed the great view and watching all the people in the water and on the beach! My husband and I both wanted some coffee and the waitress was nice to have a nice fresh pot fixed for us. Not super coffee, but pretty good. My husband had the tuna melt and said it was a 4.9/5. I had the fish and chips and would give them a 2.5/5. It just didn't have much taste at all. I ate it - the texture was fine and I was hungry, but I just can't call it tasty. Fries were pretty good.

Great views over the ocean

By Escape-overseas |

Visited with friends for evening drinks. Great views out over the ocean. Nice bar, where one can escape and have conversation. Good service.

Late Lunch

By Blackeel63 |

Wonderland always has great energy on both sides of the bar! The ocean views and sunset are magnificent. We really like the fish tacos as they are fresh and satisfying. There is a fine lineup of beers available too. Food quality suffers just a bit when it gets busy. I say go and try this place.

Great view of sunset while dining

By HOCKEYMOM12 |

We had a party of 8, including 2 toddlers and were there for sunset. The view was great, service was poor, and food was good. We had lobster tacos (very good), fish tacos ( not so good), short rib taco (excellent), teriyaki bowl (excellent), salt and pepper wings and buffalo cauliflower for apps were both very good. Plenty of free public parking directly across the street.

Nice place

By TravelerOana |

Had a table by the window, overseeing the ocean. We went for brunch on Sunday, champagne for 10 dollars only, great breakfast food, great view

Gorgeous ocean view, cool setting and yummy fish tacos!

By Cathrine P |

Come early to get a good spot next to the windows facing the beautiful ocean – the windows are open, giving a feeling of being directly on the beach. The menu is varied (meat, fish, vegetarian..), and we decided to go for the fish tacos and tuna sandwich. Both HIGHLY recommendable! The crowd is young and laidback giving a good taste of the real Ocean Beach vibe! Some evenings they show sports on the screens, which of course rubs off on the crowd, giving it more of a sports bar feel. Other days it is just a relaxing place to enjoy a good cocktail with friends, watching the sunset. Life is good!

Great for drinks but not for food

By stpluv |

This is an amazing place for drinks but the food was overpriced and ok at best. It gets crowded but great to hangout at if you have a spot to watch the ocean.

Decent Food

By Constance M |

We had lunch here with friends. It is noisy for sure with a younger crowd. They do an efficient turn around of tables so we didn’t have to wait. I had the Pozole. The sauce was really flavorful and I liked the small hominy, but the pork was almost non-existent. I think I counted 4 small chunks. It was long on hominy and very short on pork. My husband had the fish and chips, which he deemed really good. It came with a nice green salad. Our friends had the tuna sandwich. They were quite large and chalked with tuna. They both agreed it was delicious. We ordered their $12 bottle of champagne and it was surprisingly good, dry with lots of bubbles. Our server was quite nice and provided friendly, attentive service.

Fun place for happy hour

By gumbygirl6 |

With a view of the pier at sunset, this was a fun place to start an evening. We had the fish tacos and poke bowl. Both were really good.

Great views, awesome Bloody Marys, but food...meh

By FayesFork |

It can get packed so finding a bench style bar seat with view of the ocean can be difficult. Service is tough as there isn't enough servers for busy days I think. We ordered: Grilled oysters: tasted lukewarm. Needed more cheese and time under broiler Hot beer cheese and Pretzel balls: cheese was gritty and tasted off Campechana: This was a nice size portion for $14. We only later noticed that it was missing saltine crackers and the house salsas. Plus, there was no avocado in the campechana (waitress later brought out a few slices when we told her so that was nice). There seemed to be more shrimp and octopus than any other seafood. I don’t think the cold tomato broth tasted ‘zesty’ as described Woco Moco: upgraded +$4 for short rib patty that was cooked well done (friend requested medium). The patty was ok but the gravy tasted solely of butter. Wonderland Ocean Pub is a fun place to watch football, catch up with friends, enjoy the views. We didn’t think much about the food but it’s worth returning to see if there’s anything else on the menu to try.

Great appetizers

By DDDFJD |

My 2 sisters & I stopped in to have appetizers one afternoon. Was able to snag 3 seats with a good view of the water. Beer cheese & pretzel balls were really good, hot & salted just right. The coconut chicken strips were good although a little on the skinny side. Our 3rd order was for the nachos, which were really good but got cold quickly. All in all, a nice visit & so much so that we took friends & went back on Sunday. At that visit, I had your Arugula Manchego Salad & it was wonderful! Had to ask for more dressing but the taste was delicious with the cheese, apples & lettuce. Our guests at that visit had a Bloody Wonderful Mary, which he loved, the shrimp goat cheese scramble that he didn't really care for, the Salt & Pepper Wings that they loved & the Da Kine Guac, which was huge & delicious but needed more chips for the amount of guac that was given. $3.00 for a cup of coffee is ridiculous! It's bad enough to pay $2.50 for a coke. So, some good, some ok & some prices were way too high. You be the judge!

Unbelievable ocean views and great food

By Joy N |

This place has the most fantastic views of the ocean/beach/pier. You can sit right up to the windows. The food is really good and reasonably priced. I ordered the pin walls and macadamia nut multi-grain pancakes are they were ridiculously good!

Cool place

By pandaski |

Delicious fish tacos and margaritas with a beautiful view of the sunset! Stumbled upon Taco Wednesday and it was a pleasant surprise, lots of good specials on tacos and drinks, very reasonably priced. There was also a guitar player who sang for two hours straight and we enjoyed listening to him as well. Our waitress was friendly and relaxed. The restaurant was clean and in a great location to take in the beach views. Would definitely go back here again.

Amazing view, good food and great drinks

By kingofthehill81 |

My wife and I saw online that this was rated one of the best views from a bar in the U.S. and figured we would give it a shot while in the area. It is pretty inconspicuous from the street and can be a little hard to see if you are not looking for it. The views are spectacular if you can get a good seat. It was the middle of the afternoon on a Friday and we had a hard time finding a good seat with a view for 2. We luckily did. We ordered the spring rolls and nachos. Both were good but not great or anything special. We both had fru fru drinks off the menu to start with, but felt they were overpriced for what they were. The next few drinks were Jack and Cokes, much better. Overall it was a good experience and since we got a great view it got the 4 stars I rated it. Had we not been able to get a good seat it would have been a 3 star review. I wonder what it looks like on the weekend or evenings, but will not write about something I did not experience. If you are in the area, definitely check it out, but do not go out of your way.

Great view, great drinks!

By SDConcierge |

If you want a great place to grab a drink and enjoy the sunset, look no further. If you want a stereotypical Southern California Sunset, you will get it here. Nothing quite says California Sunset like the sun over the pier, and Pacific Ocean with a couple palm trees within sight. Now that I have obsessed over the view, I also have to commend their drink selection. If you want a strong hardy drink, this is not be the best place. If you want an artfully crafted drink with fresh fruits and great ingredients, you will find your happy place here! Next, the food. The food is good, but will not blow your mind. I think everything is reasonably priced and tastes very good. Will you be telling all your friends about how great their Surfers Teriyaki Chicken is, but you won't be disappointing by it. All in all, a great bar, with a fantastic view to capture that Southern California feeling. If you are looking for the greatest food in Ocean Beach though, it is worth looking elsewhere.

Great Views

By kellimlong |

This pub is upstairs on the busy corner of downtown OB and it has the best views of the ocean, the surfers, beach and pier. It has sliding windows that open completely to make you feel like you are sitting in an open air restaurant. There are TV all over so it also is a great sports bar hang out. We were there late afternoon and were able to catch happy hour which had good beer prices and a monthly cocktail special. We also ordered the fish and chips, nachos, fish tacos, and chips and guacamole. The fish came in one huge piece which was so fresh and perfectly fried. The show stealer was the guacamole which came as a huge portion with fresh chips. It was not full of the typical fillers (onions, tomatoes etc) but was seasoned with the right amount of seasons to bring out the fresh avocado taste. It was topped with finely chopped jalapeños to give it the right amount of heat. We caught a great sunset and started our California trip out right here!

Great tacos and service!

By TheDenni |

Confirmed a reservation with a large party. Staff had prepared a great space that was ready on arrival. Service was fast, friendly and informative. Most ordered the al la cart fish and lobster tacos which were fresh, filling and amazing. All of this in the midst of a lively environment and incredible view of the beach.

Fun place kind of loud but great view and some unique fresh things to eat!!! My husband loved the teriyaki chicken bowl and I loved their pork tacos.

THIS WAS OUR FAVORITE PLACE

By 623carr |

We had Courtney as our server and she was FANTASTIC. Great recommendations and super attentive to us. The food and drinks here are all amazing. You can't go wrong. Service has been hit or miss every time we visit CA, so we were extremely pleased to have Courtney wait on us. I highly recommend requesting to sit in her section. Their restaurant is on up the stairs so you get such a pretty view of the beach!

AMAZING!!!!

By Diana M |

Wow, we walked down to eat brunch, and holy great food!!! Bloody Mary's were great also. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLEACE.

View and bubbles.

By JDNYC60763 |

Sot by the window to see the ocean and people watch. $10 bottle of bubbly with brunch. The spinach crossaint and a bloody mary with bacon. Didnt see a fruit salad option on the brunch menu. Service was good.

Too noisy upstairs, poor food downstairs

By blsmeltzer |

This place is actually two, an upstairs dining room and downstairs open air pub. Different menus. We wanted what seemed to be the better upstairs menu, but when we walked in on a busy Saturday afternoon, the noise was deafening. I know my DH and I are getting a little older, but even our adult kids said it was awful. So downstairs we went and secured an outside table within 20 minutes. Location is beautiful, easy views of the Ocean beach pier, sunset, etc. Server was friendly. The lunch menu is served until 5:00 on the weekends, so ok, we have to order late lunch - it's about 3:45 when we are seated. No opinion on alcoholic drinks as we didn't order any. Food is slow...we didn't have our meals until 4:25 or so. My carnitas biscuit was dry with miniscule amounts of "avocado tomato salsa " and slaw. The taste was ok at best. SIL's albacore burger was over cooked. Cobb salad was good, veggie bean burger was "ok". My recommendation would be to enjoy a drink, the atmosphere and the sunset, then find a better place for dinner.

Perfect beach dinner

By KatieB1693 |

Our family had dinner here on vacation on a Thursday night (6:30pm or so). We had been running all over and really hadn't been to the beach. This restaurant provided a view of the beach and cool ocean breezes. We sat in the back section, which still had windows open to view the water, but was quieter. The food was great (kid's cheeseburger was enormous!) and we truly loved the experience.

Great place to relax just off the beach

By wilbur357c |

My friend and I rode Birds (scooters) down the boardwalk from PB to OB and by the time we got here we needed some cold ones and some food before going out that evening. The view is pretty great and there is a steady breeze cooling off the place which adds to the relaxing atmosphere. We got some drinks and a tuna dish I was unfamiliar with but it was really good. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Typical sports bar with the potential for an ocean view

By Christine P |

If you are remotely interested in visiting Ocean Beach, then this bar is the local hot spot to go for some eats. The food was good. The bar is multi-leveled with some outdoor seating. If you are lucky enough to get a seat near the windows, then you have an ocean view. But you also have a view of the crazies, pot heads and the homeless everywhere. Not easy to overlook even though you have an ocean in the distance. Although there is no smoking allowed inside the bar, everyone around you will reek of pot, so they might as well allow smoking inside. But the pot smoke isn't limited to inside the bar, it permeates the entire Ocean Beach area. Not a place I would recommend for families.

Very large with amazing views!

By joshuautley |

This is the largest place in Ocean Beach. Primarily a sports bar but with an authentic beach vibe based on the old Wonderland amusement park and history of the town.

Sunday brunch facing the ocean in December!

By Faith C |

Firstly Shane is amazing, great personality, and great teeth! I had the Eggs & Enchiladas, and it was amazing. My best friend had a great meal too. All I can say is go, go now, and enjoy yourself.

Great food, beer and view

By tvk111 |

Beautiful view from this second floor pub. Great fresh food, ice cold beer and great cocktails. Try the Sea Breeze. Fast and friendly service, a good menu and great portions. Gotta stop in if you are in the area.

10/10 would do it again

By Radclyffe S |

I don't know why go to a place thats this packed all the time, this busy, and yet complain about the noise. It's like my new neighbors who complain about the airport and planes constantly taking off. Do you not see the people or know you live near the airport before you bought your home or walked in? Reasons to come here: Tacos. Mimosas The view from the windows Reasons not to: - - - It gets packed for good reasons, they have good beers on tap, the food is killer! I would shoot for HH when things are cheaper though.

What a View!

By Elizabeth G |

Sat out at the front window/ bar area and had a great view for sunset. Had the Fish Tacos and they were great! The Wet Whistle Drink was also Delicious! Somewhat Loud Inside, but what you would expect for a pub off the beach! Good Food, Drinks and View!

Fantastic and Fun!!

By SouthCarolina250 |

Ask for a seat at the ocean front window and watch a spectacular sunset. The food is really good and it is a fun atmosphere.

Good view, not that great

By Rbb599 |

Good view, not that great of an experience. There are a lot of places near there I was more impressed with.

Not good

By John N |

The beer was the only thing that was good. The burgers were just so so and th fries were cold. Service was ok but slow. I wouldn’t recommend.

Funky brewpub with beach views

By katetahirah |

Wonderland is a great place to check out Ocean Beach. It's got a great menu of brews and food, and has great views of Ocean Beach. Grab a seat along the windows and watch the crowds while you wait for your food. The night I was here, I watched a couples yoga (or circus!) class meet near the beach while giant bubbles floated up from the beach, over Abbott Street, and in front of the restaurant. Come at the right time and you can watch the sunset over the pier. BTW, I highly recommend the fish and chips, which is more like A FISH and chips. Yum!

Can be improved

By ABZ |

PROS- -Beautiful location with lots of great views -good selections -great service -reasonable prices CONS- -had a long wait for a table -had to wait to order lunch -way too noisy- they need noise abatement panels

Fantastic view!

By Aimee F |

Great view of the ocean. Watch the sun set. Good drinks. The menu was nothing stand out. We chose this place because of the view.

TOO LOUD and just okay food

By Banks214 |

We visited in November so there was no view at dinner time. It was so loud you could not have a conversation, the service was fine but the food was just average. During the day the view would be good, and they have lots of beer choices, but without the view there is nothing to recommend this as a place to eat.

Beautiful views

By TiffHenry716 |

Really cute place with a gorgeous ocean view. Our server was super sweet and welcoming. The drinks and appetizers we had were delicious too!

One of the surprise highlights of our trip!

By Scott J |

We just happened on this restaurant during our trip to San Diego beach. This had such an amazing atmosphere. There was live entertainment, that was not too loud, but played great music. The ocean views were awesome! On top of that, the food, service, and drinks were fantastic.

What a view

By Corkdork73 |

We happened onto this place after a day exploring Ocean Beach. It was close to sunset and Wonderland had prime seating to catch it. We were not disappointed! It was a Monday and they had a special mussels. We ordered the andouille and smoked tomato mussels. They were tasty and the beer selection was really wide. My only complaint is the prices are a little steep and seating can be difficult, but the view is worth it! They also have some special every night; you just have to check and the live music on Mondays is fantastic!

Have grown to really like this place!

By TJ Hill |

I wrote a review of Wonderland in Sept 2014 stating it was TOO LOUD. We started going back and giving it additional chances to please us. It has. Perhaps that was just a bad night or a different era in Wonderland's history. We've come to really enjoy our times there and we've even marked it as a must-go-to place when visitors come to SD. If you can get one of the seats along the ocean-side windows (might have to hover till someone leaves), you can enjoy good food and drink while enjoying the continuous show across the street in the park. There's always something going on over there. From other seats along the street side of the room, you can watch the waves roll in and the surfers enjoying those waves. If you plan your visit near sunset, you will witness the staff's acknowledgement of that event and your presence and participation. It's a nice touch. The food is always good. The beverages too. The service is almost always good and at our last visit, the lady referred to as D-Mack was really attentive, despite the place being packed. If you haven't gone, you should. If you've had a less than great experience there, give Wonderland another shot and see if they have an improvement. Have for us!

Breakfast date

By lulagirl2016 |

I believe this restaurant has potential however when you are served cold coffee sure indication that the food is not going to be that great I was kind of disappointed the food pretty much tasted like it had no soul and it was just thrown together on the plate

Delicious food

By The H |

The food is really good for a pub... cheap prices, big portions, and big variety. The chicken we had was delicious.

Beer AND Beaches

By Richard D |

Place is cool. If in Ocean Beach you have to hit this place up. Great selection of food and beer. Amazing views and picture ops.

Friday night visit

By Mindi A |

Got there at 530 on a Friday in the hopes to catch the happy hour. Party of 5. Got sat at 550. Just in time to get one round happy hour priced drinks and tacos which were on special. Sat at a shared table which most of them are there. Sunset was pretty epic and made going here worth it. Place was busy and service was just ok. Mixed drinks kind of weak. Stay w/ beer and wine.

Cool

By Traveling_addiction |

Fabulous restaurant with open air seating. Perfect place to watch the sunset in ocean beach second floor window seats. Order the buffalo cauliflower app, it wad tasty! Gotta love ob and it's hippy feel!

Great Place to sit and hang out

By zip2play |

My husband and I were in San Diego for a conference. The Conference meal was to go further inland at a spot no where near the ocean. Instead we opted to come to Wonderland to take in the view, drinks and food. It was perfect. Our server was amazing and this KS girl could sit and enjoy the view for HOURS and HOURS and we did just that! Well worth going to! The Guac was amazing and outstanding fish tacos...and then there's the ocean and sunset!

Fantastic Ocean Views

By Tommo |

Lunch at this venue was an inclusion on our beaches tour with SDR Tours. We dined upstairs at Wonderland which was located on the first floor with fantastic views of Ocean Beach. For something different I tried the Shrimp Burger and my wife the Chicken Terriaki Bowl. I tried their craft beer called Ariel and it was probably the worst beer I ever tried. My fault as I wanted to try something different. Both meals were very good and complimented with great ocean views.

Great Views, Good Food, Noisy!

By Spartan58 |

Four of us went to WOP based on a Yelp search and found the food to be good, the service was good, the views of the ocean was great, but the many TVs and volume created too much noise. If you like a noisy bar scene and watching sports, you will like this location. But it was hard to carry on a conversation with your table partners.

Nice views!

By Megan D |

The location is key! Amazing views of the ocean. The drink menu was okay but the food menu lacked many choices that a pub should offer. Most likely wouldn't return

World's best nachos

By 424reeder |

Amazing place to watch the sunset and grab drinks! Also, they have the best nachos I've ever had which makes me coming back weekly.

Cannot get enough of this spot!

By Megan H |

Cannot get enough of this spot! Views in every direction, a front row seat to the sunset, yummy menu with favorites like lobster or fish tacos and poke / ahi bowls, incredible staff... you simply can’t go wrong w a stop in!

Amazing Sunset View!

By Charles B |

Celebrating a birthday with some work colleagues while in San Diego for a conference and we found ourselves here for dinner. Our rowdy party of 14 was easily seated (though we took up two tables) and our drink orders were quickly addressed. While it did take them a bit longer to get to our food, and they did have a few delays when it started arriving, I don't think any one of us had a complaint. I know I was certainly pleased with my selection. It was a pretty sedate evening crowd, it was a Monday night after all, with our group being the loudest of the bunch, but it was still a great experience. The pinnacle of which had to be the sunset, which was breath taking. The bar looks out over Ocean Beach, which is an amazing view any time of the day, but watching as the sunset over the ocean through the wall off windows (which I suspect are wide open in the summer) was stunning and I highly recommend making an effort to be there to experience it.

Bloody Mary!!!

By Violasmama77 |

Clean, good service, delicious Bloody Mary , decent food , good selection. Great setup for an ocean view. We had the soy chorizo , nice and light with good fries potatoes .

Wow! A stroke of luck = a great meal

By TravelTales |

What a delight to stumble on this funky, delicious gem after arriving in San Diego and going to the closest beach. The four of us pretty much had it all: oysters (raw and Rockefeller), Spring roll shrimp wraps, clam chowder, an amazing tower thing with rice and a rib burger topped with eggs, a “flight” of ceviches and more. Oh, and a bottle of Prosecco for the ladies. All at about 12:30 in the afternoon and the chef didn’t miss a beat. I’m a little reluctant to post this because I selfishly don’t want this place to get famous — but they deserve to be.

Good food!

We visited during a business trip, and had a great time. Our associate was getting appetizers for the whole table, so we were able to try a lot of things! My favorites were the oysters and the carnitas nachos, which were unbelievably good. Everyone also enjoyed the chicken spring rolls and ahi poke. They had wings, taquitos, a whole bunch more to try. And the drinks were STRONG. We were in a separate area with a bar, where it was more spacious. It was a quiet night, so I didn’t experience things in full swing, but we had fun.
