This place has a special deal on food every day. Friday is halibut fish and chips all day. It is as good as any fish and chips I have ever had. We visit here every time we are in Portland and it just keeps getting better. In addition you can watch your favorite sports team on TV. You will never get halibut at this price any place else.

The meals here can be great................or not. I used to recommend their Fish and Chips to everyone because the halibut was always plentiful and delicious BUT, anymore you don't know what you'll be getting. Sometimes it's thin slices and sometimes it's chunks...............they cook them the same amount of time, apparently because if you get the thinner slices they are DRY. It never used to be like this. They have dinner specials..............the same thing every Mon, or Tues, or Wed, etc. so it's easy to know when to go if you want steak or spaghetti, etc. The service really varies, depending on who you "get." Most are friendly and accommodating, but if you get the "snarly" lady just go with it.................she never changes, so don't take it personally. Their hamburgers and very good as is their Clam Chowder.

I had the special, Honey BBQ ribs, garlic mashed and coleslaw - 8.95. Falling off the bone delish. Wait staff very attentive and friendly. Rest of party had fish n chips (halibut) and a shrimp basket. All very good and hot.

Been going here for 20+ yrs. Time to get new wait staff. Last time my husband and I had lunch there, my husband was told that he'd have to pay extra if he wanted more than 2 glasses of ice tea. Mind you.. It's mostly ice. Not there extra charge we minded. It was the 100 lbs of "attitude" that came with it. Bartender said she'd worked there 40 yrs. Yep. I can tell. Thought we'd give them another try today, thinking it was just an anomaly. Nope! This time we got attitude, on top of crappy service! They acted like we were putting them out for showing up. Fyi... We were literally the only 2 people in the place. (At noon) To say the least.. We... Along with our friends won't be back.

Six of us stopped for lunch at 1:45 pm. Our poor little waitress was the only server in the whole place! She was running the bar, trying to take orders, serve everyone, bussing tables, and it took forever to get our bill. The food was satisfactory, but through no fault of her own, the service was miserable! Come on, manager. Get adequate help to take proper care of your guests.

Good drinks and fantastic salad for one wanting a figure friendly meal. Honestly I have never had a bad meal here and I live with in 10 min.s.

Nothing to it from the outside, but hey, it was close so we went. It had just the right level of quirkiness that gives Portland its cool vibe & reputation. GREAT SERVICE, full bar, and great bar food for my $$! The fish & chips were EXCELLENT! So were the jalapeno poppers, and I forget what else we got but it was good. Nice job Wooden Chicken, I'll be back!

Hadn't been here in over 20 years. We were driving by and decided to go in. We had a very friendly waitress. I'm assuming that almost everybody is a regular because she asked us what we wanted without every offering a menu. She hunted us down a couple and we both ordered sandwiches. I've had worse and I've had better. I will say that I loved their cole slaw. Right up there with the best I've ever had. Lots of screens if you are into sports. There are also pool tables and the usual video gambling.

Stopped in mid evening on a wednesday night had the steak special and was very pleasantly surprised.

Went out for dinner with some friends.Decided to go to the Wooden Chicken because of their daily dinner specials. No matter what the special it is always good and very reasonably priced. The staff is so friendly they make you really feel welcome.

Friday by 3 piece Halibut Fish & Chips for price if 2 $12.99 ! They have a special every Monday through Friday. Can't go wrong with the food! Great food & drinks. Nice crowd. Waitresses are wonderful. Love this place!

This is not a fancy place for a good meal, be it bar-food or a great burger. Dozens of different beers on tap along with a full bar. This is a place where the locals go for an informal meal or just a couple of beers. Our executive team enjoys the laid back atmosphere with several big screens showing many different live sports. If you require a cloth napkin, you are in the wrong place. Great burgers and fried chicken.

u ordered the fried chicken it was soo overcooked it loosenened my front tooth a little a cap or crown my sisters fish n chips were delicious though and it is very friendly in side I have been back I just order a burger or something else and its fine

Was looking for a place for a quick lunch and found the Wooden Chicken". The decor is every wall is covered with beer taps everywhere. The food was typical bar food that comes out of a can or freezer, but served the purpose and the many flavors of beer on tap added to the lunch.

Another place that I drive by all the time but have never stopped as I've gone back and forth on Sandy BLVD. Today I stopped to see what the place is like. I found a Pub that is jam packed with Taps as decorations. And is very spacious and full of eye catching things. It has the look and feel of a hot night spot. There are three pool tables in the room to the South of the bar. A couple of Video Poker machines are in here. And about three video poker machines are in the main room between the entrance and the bar. They have a nice menu with lots of food listed. Signs all over the place announcing daily specials. And the happy hour items are posted here and there. There are plenty of tables in this large spacious Pub. They even have a dance floor in the Northeast area of the pub. I ordered a Bud and played a little Video Poker. And looked at the items they had in the merchandise area. Mostly T-shirts. Lots of T-shirts. I can't help but wonder what this place is like later on in the evenings. So I should return and check out their Happy Hour which is 4:30 to 6:30 PM every day. If you are an early bird you can do like I did and still in at 11 Am. I was a wee bit early so I killed some time next door at Uncle Vinny's Pizza. A real nice little cozy eatery that serves Breakfast all day.

Excellent burgers and wings, definitely try the jojos, clean place with good food and inexpensive. Will be back

Local venue in NE Portland offering a wide assortment of local crafted beers and wines and a menu full of burgers, pastas, fish and vegetables. Lots of monitors following every sport imaginable with music playing in the background (not too loudly, fortunately). Pool tables also available. What makes it great is right mixture of the above elements and very pleasant locals gathered at the bar. They were very welcoming when I joined them, and the conversation was lively and witty. It made for a pleasant afternoon. And, the beer was quite good!

Clerk in the hotel raved about their fish and chips. They were average. Nice pub atmosphere with big screen tv's. Service was pleasant. I was glad they were there for a late night meal not too far from hotel

My steak sandwich and coleslaw were the best! Just the right size, made me full - but not stuffed. The coleslaw has just the right tang to it and I loved the bread they used for the steak sandwich. I ate the bread separate from the meat - seasoned like a garlic bread, oh so good. Such a fun place with a very pleasant DJ, who kept the music playing at a level where I could still enjoy a conversation at our table. Atmosphere of fun!

Wow sooooo good.. had a bacon 🥓 cheeseburger 🍔 and the chilli nachos with potato waffles.. 😋... First visit.. lovely service..

I had the chicken wings during my visit. They were pretty good. Staff are very friendly and welcoming and had a good conversation. I really liked this place.

Food was very good, we shared fish and chip dinner, and it was perfect for us. It was happy hour and the beer was cheap and cold, service, did not catch her name but her I'd on our bill was 19, she was very inventive and very cheerful, checked on us a couple of times. The pub has a neighbourhood pub feel with local, very casual.

Great Fish & Chips! Go for lunch on Fri.’s as it’s a 3 pc. For the price of a 2 Pc. We’ve gone to this neighborhood Pub for at least 35 years. Great atmosphere and food. Great Sports Pub.

Very old school sports bar. Great vibe and neighborhood location. Happy Hour is especially amazing and love the daily food specials! We make this a weekly watering hole!

The owner "trying to run a business" humiliated me in the middle of his restaurant during the lunch rush by insisting that my ADI certified service dog was a comfort dog. He refused to listen to anything I had to say. I mean anything. I described a task my dog does when the guy asked but he said "so he makes you feel good, that makes him a comfort dog not a service dog." I presented my the information for my dog's training organization so he could call and verify my dog's status but he refused saying he wasn't going to call because its clearly a comfort dog. Then he told me to never bring the dog back again. If this is the way this guy treats disabled combat veterans with service dogs then he certainly doesn't deserve my money. He needs to learn what a service dog task is when it is explained to him instead of being a righteous jerk and insulting people in public. I will be filing a discrimination complaint with the State of Oregon. Enjoy.

I had read on a couple of places that this place had good fish and chips and it was also listed in the nearby restaurants in the Holiday Inn express book. The atmosphere is typical bar style, though I did like all of the different beer taps that they had. I looked at their actual beer on taps at the bar and ordered one that they had a tap for and was a bit disappointed when they brought a bottle. If you don't have it on tap then remove the tap. I ordered the fish and chips and am used to the fish being large pieces so I only ordered the two piece dinner. What I got were two pieces of fish about the size of a spare rib bone. While the fish was good, the portion was well below what I expected, especially for the price. They may want to advise future customers when they order that the portions are small and that they may want to order three or more pieces. Otherwise it was a decent place

We were visiting our cousins in Oregon City and were talking about fish and chips. They said "Let's go to the best fish and chips place in Oregon". We went to the Wooden Chicken and had the best halibut fish & chips I've had in years. We drove an hour to get there and it was definitely worth it. In addition the service is very good and friendly.
My kind of place
Was definitely impressed with this place. I'm not a big bar person, but this was nice. Good food, friendly people, pool tables, daily specials. Very comfortable surroundings and interesting decor. Definitely someplace I'll go again when in the Portland area. Now that I have a daughter that lives there, it'll be more often.........
