I have gone twice to this Southern Indian food restaurant and loved both visits. The food was delicious. I had seldom eaten Indian food and really fell in love with it here. They have a buffet for lunch that offers many different types of food that makes it easy to try new foods without committing to an entire plate of new flavors. My son recently visited Indian and wanted to show me what real Indian food was like and how it was eaten. I really enjoyed the food and the friendly staff.

We had a lunch buffet here on a Saturday. The food quality was excellent. The service was professional and courteous, and inspired confidence with respect to cleanliness and hygiene.

Decent food, average ambience. Seats are old. Veg food is ok, nothing spectacular as one expects from woodlands name.

Located in a strip mall off Topanga Cyn Blvd parking can be a challenge. The restaurant is authentic judged by the number of native Indian customers. You have a choice of ordering off the menu or going for the buffet. Their specialty is a kind of South Indian "Burrito" called a dosa. If you get the buffet they include a smaller dosa. The cost for the buffet is about $11. There are quite a few choices all of them vegetarian. The skill of Indian cooking and spice is well evident. Everything was enjoyable. The staff is very courteous and (extra points) they keep your water glass empty without you having to ask. They have another restaurant which does serve meat dishes.

Very good food. Great service. We have been to the buffet service and the food has been fresh and tasty. Worth the money and time.

I love Woodlands-great service, quiet and the lunch buffet is perfect for vegetarians and meat eaters alike-you almost don't notice that there is no meat. The thin rice pancakes there are the specialty and very good

Very good Rasam, good Butter Dosa and food was very decent. We went for lunch Buffet. North Indian part wasn’t super great but the South Indian food was all very well made. Great price for sumptuous food. Worth a visit.

We have had group dinners here and they have been wonderful and reasonable. Everyone enjoyed everything!

For a tasty reasonably priced south Indian fare, Woodlands is the place in Chatsworth. For sampling of variety of dishes, lunch buffet (Tues-Sunday) is recommended. Wine and beer are available and seved quickly. Savouries like vadai and dosa with generous coconut chutney are very good. For larger parties, reservation is recommended for configuring seating arrangements. We have been there several times in the past years and consistency of taste is their niche. The restaurant, despite the official address is in Chatsworth CA, at Topanga and Lassen in the"West Valley" neighborhood of L.A. it is closed Mondays.

Had dinner here with friends and the food was good. Loved the mango lassi and vegetarian combo dish.

Loved the delicious and authentic South Indian food here! The service was very nice: friendly and efficient staff. They went out of their way to accommodate our requests.

This place is home away from home for me and many south Indians who live in los Angeles. Best vegetarian food place ever. We eat here more than once a week. The best place for Dosa or Indian crepe. All kinds. Great buffet in the afternoon. Check it out.

Lots of parking in the plaza. Very traditional southern Indian food. Lots of Indian people eating there. The food is a little bit different than the Indian food I have tried. Very interesting!

So far we have traveled to LA area 3 times in the last 4 years. Every time we make sure that we dine in here. First 2 times both Lunch Buffet and Dinner. The food experience used to be fabulous. Us being vegetarians from South India (especially Tamilnadu), loved the taste of the food here. But this time (7th June 2015) we opted for Dinner only and I must say we were disappointed. We had the following: 1. Masala Papad - Exceptionally spicy (in our family my wife eats a lot of spicy/hot food - even according to her standards, it was too spicy - but on complaint they did replace with a moderate spiced papad) 2. Gobi Manchurian - must say it tasted OK. Not exceptional. We did leave some left overs. Usually we don't leave any. That says something. Too saucy. 3. Mixed veg pakoras - they honored our requests to exclude potatoes. Must admin that they were very good. 4. Mysore Royal Thali - Plantain Curry, Dhall and another curry that I forgot already. Chappati, Fryums, Rice, Sambar (very average - we make better sambar), Vathal Kuzhambu (again very average), Rasam (OK), little pachadi and pineapple kesari (I make better kesari). They forgot the Coffee at the end. 5. Mini Idlies - OK. 6. Poori and Bhaji - Good one according to our elder one. Not sure because of Sunday evening. But we were very disappointed. My wife has said: "That's it. This may be our last trip to this restaurant if we ever come back to this LA area again". Guess they need a better Indian Chef.

Our second visit here. Did not disappoint. We had the buffet this time. The MOther's Day special lunch buffet was fabulous. Each and every item tasted awesome! Highly recommended!

We went to this place after visiting the malibu temple. So it was around 2ish. We called and confirmed that the place would be open till 3PM. But when we arrived, we saw that most of the items in buffet are either empty or half empty. Food was good, we liked it. But they started removing all the items from buffet without informing us. We were shocked as some of us didnt finish yet.

If you love South Indian food... This is the Place to be. Don't come with high hopes. On a Wednesday Evening, it's spread us value for money. But sadly the Chinese combination with Idly n Sambar does not go well. A menu is listed in the picture posted. Mysore Masala Dosa is signature dish. Try.

We loved the food at Woodlands. Very authentic south indian fare. Everything we tried was good. Excellent customer service as well.

This restaurant offers South Indian food. The dosas are simply superbly done. The chutneys and sambhar tasted excellent as well. We ordered a-la-carte. Did not sample the buffet. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for South Indian vegetarian food.
