Came here before a show at the Troc food was good but service a bit slow. Bout 30 min for any food and we had to pay before deserts just to get out in time. In all it was a good restaurant with nice staff ... I would go again but not on a time limit. Menu very extensive which was nice

This was my first visit. I had a Philly Roll and Chicken Liver Skewers as well as several drinks. My philly roll was about $3.50 and Chicken Liver Skewer was about $1.75. The skewer was to die for and everyone else that tried different skewers were happy with all of them. Some had corn skewers, salmon and scallion, asparagus, chicken gizzard. There wasn't one complaint. They were all so juicy and flavorful. I cannot wait to go back! The only down side is, they aren't filling so you either need to order regular dishes with them or order tons! The food was affordable, drinks could be pricey depending on what you order.

This is an okay place, but not that impressive. Near the Pennsylvania Convention Center, in Philly Chinatown area. Lots of choices & affordable.

We found this restaurant by accident and we both were glad we did. We had appetizers, drinks, main courses and desert. We really wanted to know what this place was about and we loved every sip and bite. I had two lychee drinks and one bourbon drink after dinner. I was blown away by both. I have NEVER had such flavorful and rich drinks as these. My cousin had all appetizers and I had the spring rolls. So very tasty. My main dish was a prepared rice and chidden bowl. This was not your average bowl. It has rich flavors and was filling which was what I was going for. For desert was the most unusual that I have ever had. I have had fried ice cream before but not like this. This fried ice cream was GREEN TEA in Tempura pastry then friend. Wow, what a treat. I just hope I am able to find this somewhere else. The waitress was fantastic and the whole staff were wonderful. If you visit please look it up and give your taste buds not only a vacation to dream of but an experience beyond belief. Oh yeah, it is that good. Thank you Yakitori Boy for such a delightful experience.

Sushi places are hit or miss. Some are dingy & quiet and some are awesome. Yakitori Boy would fall into the category of awesome. Wait time - almost non existent if you're in a party of less than four Quality - it's solid. Not earth shattering, but it gets the job done Drinks - decent selection, usually have good beer specials Service - very attentive

Yakitori Boy was all in all a great experience. My boyfriend as I LOVE sushi so we thought we’d try a new joint (to us) out. We went on a Thursday night during Center City Restaurant week – awesome deal, I recommend it for next year. Our reservations were for 8:00 but we didn’t get sat until after 8:30, which is my only real negative remark on this place. Why make reservations at that point? But, anyway… The food was incredible. The grilled lobster was very good but mine was a little chewy, my boyfriends’ was perfect, so it may have just been the lobster itself – who knows. The sushi was so good I could not help but eat WAY too much. Loved it. The tempura ice cream was just perfect; if I wasn’t so full already I would have devoured it. The service – after being sat – was awesome. Our waiter was so friendly and helpful and the food came out pretty quickly – but not in a way that made us feel rushed at all. The tables are a little close together but it made for a pretty fun meal. We met the people next to us who were there before us and gave us tips on the restaurant week menu. So sweet. Great night!

This is a great place to have a good time with close friends or family. It's dimly lit and the ambiance is definitely inviting. Their food is always good. Their service is usually great. Karaoke is always a good time. It's just an awesome spot to just hang out and have a good time. The food is pricy but above average so it's worth some extra moolah.

Went here this past weekend as a random decision since things were pretty closed down due to Hurricane Joaquin. When we entered, it was very, very dark and continued to be throughout the restaurant. I did not go to the karaoke bar, so I cannot comment on that. My partner and our friend got a table and the service was excellent. Everyone was very kind. Our food was promptly served and glasses refilled. I ordered ribeye skewers- the first one was fantastic and very juicy. I loved it with a bowl of steamed rice. However, the second one I got a little later was very burnt and had a smoke taste. It was not enjoyable. I ordered chicken cutlet also, which was very, very, very hard. The chicken itself was hard and difficult to cut and chew. The flavor was okay. Our friend ordered and loved udon beef (I believe it's called?). They both ordered sushi and enjoyed it. My partner loved the eggplant, asparagus, and especially the mushroom skewers. The bacon with quail egg was just eh for him. The saki average. All in all, nothing special. I wouldn't revisit. It is a nice atmosphere and I like the idea of ordering cheap, random things throughout the meal/night and they come when ready.

This was the 2nd time our company ate at this restaurant. And it was just as delicious as the last time. Also a lot of FUN if you visit one of their private karaoke rooms after dinner. They have a wide selection of Japanese cuisine to choose from. Everything from appetizers, soups, tempura, sushi rolls, you name it. We ordered several appetizer samplers and sushi samples along with some individual items. There were 9 of us and had a great time! The service was wonderful and fast.

This place had generally good reviews and a few horrible ones. As I suspected - the bad ones were unfounded. I am convinced that some people go out with an idea to have a bad time. My wife and I had wonderful, piping hot, yakatori - chicken, beef, seafood, and veggie. The sushi was wonderul and the sake and beer were delicious - the latter served in nice chilled (fresh with each serving) glasses. Perhaps too good - as I wound up leaving my credit card there. As we live a couple of hours away, I canceled the card late at night on the way home only to find the next day that the manager had left a message on my cell phone that they had found and would send back the card - which they did. I wish I lived closer. I would go back in a heartbeat.

We have gone here in the past, but have always reserved a private room for karaoke. This time our group of 10 went on a whim and no private room available. We went and enjoyed about 2.5 hrs of singing (or screaming), dancing and drinks in the main bar area. I love the private room, but that is not an atmosphere for dancing. Sang songs with the crowd that we would never have sang in our private room. Very hard to get a hold of a mic to really belt out the notes, but I am more of a sing along kind of person anyway.

Enjoyed a night on the town in Philadelphia, PA at the Yakitori Boy Bar and Restaurant. Consisting of two levels of entertainment, cozy drinks and food on the first floor, and an energetic Karaoke crowd on the second floor. Both were fun. Multiple private party rooms are available for corporate or family functions. Thanks to Security Guards- Nick and Soutiri, DJ Kevin, and Hosts- Ziara and Kate. Enjoy!!

I'm not Japanese so I probably can't comment on what is truely 'authentic' when it comes to sushi, teppanaki, and yakitori but this place was very similar to many of the Japanese places I have eaten in asia. Huge selection on the menu ranging from familar dishes to organ meat and asian specialties. Also includes pictures to help people unfamiliar with Japanese menu terminology. I liked how you could order many small dishes to sample a number of different things rather than being stuck with one entree. For example, I tried the chicken heart yakitori which was surprisingly good but I would probably not have wanted an entire plate of it. the sushi and other grilled item I ordered were also very good. The servers were professional and attentive. The atmosphere was also very clean and contemporary, unlike some of the other 'authentic' places in the china town area of philly that have a more 'worn' look. This place is definately worth a try if you are looking for something more interesting than california rolls and terriaki chicken. There is also a bar unstairs with Karaoke but I did not check that out.

My friends and I went to Yakitori Boy to celebrate a couple of birthdays, and we had an excellent time. The restaurant's main draw is karaoke, so we reserved a small room where we spent about three hours singing (I use the term loosely) to a wide range of songs. Early on, however, we ran into a small problem: although we'd been emailed a catalog of available songs before our visit, none of those songs appeared on the machine in our room. An attendant explained that the catalog related to an older model of karaoke machine, then went to get the older machine for us to use. Oddly the controls for that machine were labeled in Japanese, so we had to experiment a bit to get it to work. In short, if you look at the song catalog before you visit, be sure to ask for the appropriate karaoke machine in advance and also ask the attendant to show you how to use it. As for the food, we ordered a chef's choice platter that consisted of several sushi rolls. Apparently the rolls the chef chose that night didn't have much sushi in them, as they mainly consisted of rice and avocado. Had we chosen rolls individually, I imagine they'd have included more fish and would have been of a better quality, especially since many other reviewers on this site have praised the sushi. All told -- and once all of the kinks were ironed out -- we had a great time.

Can i say how much I love this place just on the fact that they are open till 2am everyday and they have some of the best prices in town. My go to favorites are the fried bussel sprouts as appetizer and the pork ramen bowl and shrimp tempura roll are a must try as well.

I came here this evening for karaoke. I wasn't aware of their policy for requesting the songs, I saw the songbook by the bar, and asked the bartender if I could request a song. She informed me the cost per song was $2. I wasn't aware this place charged, I've never had to pay to request a song to sing, but I said sure I'd like to pay. She seemed confused that I wasn't aware of their policy for charging per song, and reacted as if I had made an error (is it a philly thing to charge people to sing karaoke???) Anyway, I immediately pulled out the cash and then waited for her to take my money and give me a ticket to write the song. She never came back to me. She helped a dozen other customers, some right near me, but never acknowledged that I was ready with the cash. I have no idea why she was so dismissive. I asked a busboy if he could please get her attention for me, he tapped her shoulder, pointed at me, she looked over and didn't even blink. The bartender was wearing a tube top and had her hair in a bun. I'm identifying her because she was so especially rude. After a 10 minute wait to pay $2 to request a song, I decided to forget it. Even though we expressly went there for karaoke I didn't even get to sing. My friends decided we should leave as they didn't want to support an establishment where the bartender was so rude to their friend. The sad thing was that while I was waiting to give my $2 for a song request she took about a half dozen other song requests and served drinks to other customers, including my friends. I really doubt the bartender was having an off night. I would expect someone in the customer service industry would be more people focused. One could argue that perhaps she didn't see me, but I don't think that was the case. I've always been generous and respectful of waitstaff. I've never been dismissed by a bartender. It was an all around rude experience and as much fun as this place could have been, I am not returning here again.

I can definitely see how this can be a fun place, if you really dig karaoke. I get that, so I amnot going to knock the atmosphere. However... I have had bad sushi in many places, and this was by far the worst. It tasted ons, like itis made ahead of time. The fish also didn't taste very fresh. Too fishy, I know this is kind of gross, but I was burping up a fishy aftertaste all night. A clear sign, it wasn't fresh.

Was in Philly overnight for business, went to Yakitory Boy for dinner alone - sat at the bar and had a satisfactory experience. Food was good as was draft beer.

Tuesday nights are the best! You can get skewers for $1. My favorite skewers are the pork belly, quail eggs wrapped in bacon, and the chicken hearts. Delicious! They also have awesome karaoke upstairs.

My travel companions and I visited on a Saturday night and could not get a room for karaoke so we settled for the bar, where we had appetizers and drinks. Food was good but the bartender was moody. She went from nice and pleasant to totally rude to one of us. Everyone else working in the bar was consistently pleasant.

Ok, so this knock off of a Japanese hip izakaya style restaurant isn't perfect. SO WHAT?! It's pretty darn good. If it were in Manhattan, LA or Honolulu, maybe it'd be in trouble...but, in my hometown of Philly...All I can do is pray that it stays open .....4EVER.... (Or at least until I move back to Honolulu......

Yakitori Boy is one of my favorite restaurants in Philly whenever I am in the city. Many of the items on the menu is a la carte but affordably priced for the high quality of food that you enjoy. You can create your own combinations and they also offer bento boxes that are ultra tasty and allow substitutions. A la carte items range from $4-12 and are decent portions. The atmosphere is always vibrant but can be a bit cramped if you are seated against the wall with other diners. Best to get a booth or separate table if you can. Hostesses are very pleasant and the wait staff are very much in the know concerning their menu and definitely aim to please. All around this restaurant is always a satisfying experience. No one rushes you here.

We stopped in before the Lantern Festival on a Saturday and were seated right away. We had never had "Japas" before so we assumed we would just order waves of food like we do for tapas. Everything was good from the skewers to the sushi. I will say that everything on a skewer was cooked well done, I guess that's just the style. I would have preferred most of the selections more medium rare but they were still tasty.Service was great and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend the takoyaki (octopus balls) ...they were awesome.

Located on the edge of Chinatown. We walked in a realized this was a happening local. Enter the front door and go left for eating and right for upscale karaoke. We ate a noodle dish and a chirashi bowl (assorted sashimi over rice). Good was authentic and service terrific.

My friends and I come here about once every month or two for karaoke in the lounge and we always have a great time. We rented a room this weekend for my birthday and it was even better!! Jasmine was our server and we loved her; she was helpful and fun. Huge selection of songs, good food and drinks. Only complaint is there's very little seating in the lounge.

My girlfriends and I decided to go here for dinner since it was close to our hotel. The sushi is very reason price for it being in the city. Our bill was about 100 for the 3 of us only because of the cocktails we got. It would be more like 50 bucks if we didn't get the drinks which is pretty reasonable for 3 people. Highly recommend it!

We went on a Saturday during their free room promo hour (7-8pm). We felt very rushed with our service and not able to relax and enjoy the food. The food is so so. We have had better yakitori elsewhere. The picture of the food do not look the same as the real food. We had the grill squid, tempura rolls, yakitori samplers, seafood pancake. The rolls is the best. The rest is forgettable. Oh they automatically added 20% tip. No wonder they don't really care about your customer experience. The karaoke system takes some getting used to. The room is not sound proof though so you can definitely hear the loud music in the lounge area.

You got to be fricking kidding....Was here long enough to leave!!! Visited yakatori boy because of all the great reviews and rumors of celeb sightings This place is a toilet....As we entered the building with alot of excitement we were greeted by the over whelming smell of bleach....The unfinished concrete floor had cracks and divots...The table and chairs are old and smelled of smoke, The place is very dark ...our guess was it was to hide all the other inperfections. It reminded us of an old basement night club with the smell of smoke, bleach and urine... We were seated at a table that wobbled because of the uneven concrete floor. The table was dirty and smelled so the server tried to wipe it clean but the cloth she used smelled of old dirty bleach. The only chardonay was canyon road.. A cheap, sweet $3 bottle My wife and I got up and left like the place was on fire... Not sure why all the reviews are good... Take my word and do not waste your time to park to visit this toilet The absolute worst place we have ever visited

Nice atmosphere, friendly waiters. This was our second time there and both times we had a great time. Food is delicious try Salmon Boy, Rainbow rolls, and more

I went here with some coworkers. If it were just me, I'd probably have ordered everything off the menu. Lots of choices including some quirky options. I was pleasantly surprised with the yummy flavors. I will definitely go back here and eat my face off the next time I'm in Philly.

Rented a private karaoke room with friends to celebrate a birthday. Each room gets their own server for drinks and food. Drinks are a bit pricey but that's expected in the city. Would definitely go back again for karaoke!

My husband and I took a group of 9 kids (ages 6-14) here to celebrate a birthday. Huge hit with everyone. Underage groups are only allowed on Sunday and Monday nights. There's a room charge, but it is waived if you order a certain amount of food (we easily did). The service was fabulous. We had our own private room with karaoke machine and two cordless mics. Our waitress showed us how to use the machine (it is quite easy) and checked back on us frequently to make sure everything was going smoothly. We ordered food, in several rounds, and they just kept bringing platters out for all to share. Food was delicious - we chose several rolls, dumplings and tempura items, as well as chicken teriyaki. Everything is family style. Our waitress was really helpful in guiding our selections. Your group just runs the show - people can all sing as a group, individuals, duets, whatever you prefer. Nobody else is watching so even shy guests can let loose. Tons of song options (at least of recent pop songs). They let us bring cupcakes, which they organized on a platter and decorated with sparklers. Overall cost was really reasonable - less than I typically spend on a birthday party when all we serve is pizza. I think our bill was about $160 for our group of 11 (we didn't order any alcohol). That met the minimum, so the room charge was waived. We loved it and will be back!

Sorry to say this place is not like it used to be, the bar service was terrible, and the food was dried out and over cooked, microphone for the karaoke was not tuned to the system music and made your voice sound muffled which made it very hard to sing. In addition, the bar tenders were padding up our bills and charging mandatory 20 % tips on my friend's credit cards without previously informing them, my friends were not happy about that and argued with bar tender. furthermore, there was hardly anyone there on the second floor not like the crowds that use to be there. The establishment built some type to stage sitting area, which took away space for the original dance floor. It was quite boring and a great disappointment. I was extremely embarrassed, and my friend were let down. I don't think we will ever visit there again. Sincerely, Jason Cruise

Excellent food, friendly staff and the upstairs private karaoke was the best! One thing I recommend is to park close ... Walking through the city to get back to the car can make you want to loose the food you just ate.... The smell was horrific....

My husband has reserved one of the private karaoke rooms for my birthday. Can't wait!

We had a Groupon for this restaurant and figured, we'll give it a try and definitely liked it. The restaurant itself was downstairs, while the private rooms and karaoke was upstairs. Since we only went for dinner, we were seated downstairs. The menu had traditional japanese dishes that you don't get at many restaurants (e.g. the japanese seafood pancake or the squid balls, etc). All the items were tapas style aka small plate style, which makes it easy to share and try out. My hubby totally loved the pork belly on the stick. I liked everything from fried oysters to the tokai sushi roll. I've posted more pictures on my other food blog: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Been-There-Ate-That/156499854368045 We will definitely be back for more!

I was in philly on business and thanks trip advisor I found this gem! I was well taken cared of by "Jenna" and had about 5 shrimp tempuras and 1 lobster which was totally excellent. The ambiance is great and the drinks were awesome...I had something called the Samurai martini and it was an excellent compliment to the meal!

Don't judge a book by its cover! From the outside this place looks like nothing special, but the inside is so neat! A great place for Japanese food. Let's just say my Japanese MIL approves! The good was good, service fast, and prices not bad! My picky kids tried some new things here and loved the atmosphere too! I have no experience with the Karaoke bar upstairs, but there is one. It's not a huge place. Reservations definitely recommended on a weekend for sure. There are only 2 one person bathrooms in the restaurant area. The private room in the back is neat, but small. We were a party of seven (5 adults and 2 children, 10 and 12). But, it worked! Just keep ordering food! They'll keep bringing it! Definitely a place to try if you like Japanese food! FYI: They don't open until 5 PM.

This place is the real thing! We got a 20 person room for my husband's 30th birthday and had a blast. It was a Saturday night and we had the room for almost 3 hours. The food was good and if you order a certain amount in food and drinks, they waive the room rental, which is $70/hour. We had so much fun. My husband said it was one of the most fun he had in his life, which was music to my ears since we were celebrating an important milestone. The song was strong but not excellent as there were many songs we could think of that were not available. However, we had plenty to fill 3 hours and could've kept going so the number of options weren't shabby. Anyway, this is a must do experience especially for a special occasion. It's a great set up, private, with food and drinks delivered to you. All you have to do is bring the fun! ...and not get hooked.

There are two floors; one with dining room and sushi bar, the other with karaoke boxes and karaoke lounge. I was there just for drinks with friends. There was a variety of beer, wine, shochu and sake but all average, nothing that would stand out. Nevertheless with karaoke it seems it could get quite fun if you like that type of environment. It was quite while I was there so I can't really tell. One of my friends had a beer in a plastic glass that smelled like bleach, later they came with a real beer glass (why didn't they do that in the first place?). Not a bad bar but neither spectacular.

We had just completed a stressful 12 hour drive. We were tired and hungry. This restaurant was recommended to us. We were greet promptly, seated and given menus and water immediately. Our waitress and server were terrific Jenna, Asami and Arron were terrific. We ordered a variety of food. The portions are small, but we still shared. The soup and salad and appetizer were delivered first as we requested. The edamame was cooked just right. We loved the Ika squid. We ordered steak, with broccoli and sides of mushroom and asparagus. The magic sushi was a wow. Our servers were very attentive. Overall great experience.

We did a corporate event here and the staff was great to work with - food was excellent and drinks were made with great care. try this place out for a fun night with friends

This is a good place to end a convention day. A very short walk from the convention center. Good sushi and bar downstairs. The seaweed salad was tasty. Upstairs is private seating and the karaoke bar. Electric energy upstairs and probably within walking distance to your hotel.

This bar is in chinatown section. went there on a monday late night and it was just us, the bartender, bouncer and guy runnin karaoke. Dark place that stank, the smell was atrocious. there are a ton of private rooms off the main with tvs and couches, not sure whats goin on with that. the bathrooms are didgusting, looked like the aftermath of some sex party. not sanitary at all. highly DO NOT RECOMMEND

A decent choice for a variety of food, sushi, sashimi, and meat. the place is okay, for a group, but nothing special..... The best part was the Yakatori, the meat on a small skewer. Order a bunch and share!! The prices were fair, reasonable for the choices. Most orders are small portions, that seem inexpensive, but do add up! Try the Yakatori, the sushi was ok, not better than I have had outside of Chinatown. Good service, friendly, and not over-bearing. They also have Karaoke, rooms and fun, but we did not try that. A good place for a crowd to go for Happy hour.

In town on business on a cold night, we looked for a nearby restaurant and happened on Yakitori Boy. I do not eat sushi, but do like other Japanese. I had the chicken teriyaki box, which was a nice mix of food and solid quality. Tempura was flaky and not too greasy. We also enjoyed the Brussels sprout appetizer. The only real miss was the "slider" - tasty fish and veggies on the inside were completely overpowered by the doughy pancake outside. Service was slow and the tables are really close together. If you get seated next to a loud talker, forget trying to have a conversation with your dinner guest.

Japanese restaurant with Karaoke rooms and bar. Great group fun. Karaoke rooms have adult VIP room feel but are clean. Standard Japanese dishes are good. Both alcohol and food well priced. Pre-gaming is helpful.

Omg. I love Yakitori Boy. It is so cheap. It's not the best sushi that I have ever had but it's very good. I eat here when I'm in Philly. I tell everyone about it. It has such a great atmosphere and all the food that I have eaten has been excellent.

We went for a moms night out. Got there early at 5:30pm and stayed 2 hrs in a private karaoke room. It was my first time doing karaoke, actually singing. I can't sing but still great fun. Food was good and reasonably priced. The location in Chinatown and competition w other local restaurants keeps the price low. The service was good, too! If you go early, you can get the room for free if you spend $xx amount each hour. I don't remember the exact amount....$50/per hour? That includes spent on drinks so easy to do.

Went with friends after dinner for karaoke while in town and had quite a bit of fun. We didn't use the private rooms but instead choose the lounge for our crooning friends. Although I myself didn't sing my friends had a blast and I have enough incriminating evidence that I shall use for years to come. Drink prices are high and it costs $5 for 3 songs to sing, but the place was fun. Personally it was probably more that my friends and I were having fun then this place was good. If it weren't for that I would never have come in.

I love this place! I had no idea there was a Karaoke place in Philly that was this much fun! I reserved a room for my wife's birthday and they charge by the hour. It's pretty inexpensive and there are tons of songs to choose from. If you pick a good group of people, you'll have a great time. When our session was up, we made our way to the main bar for more open karaoke and sang along with random strangers. The food, drinks and service are all top notch. I will absolutely be going back in the future.

Stopped by here a couple of times when I was in town for a visit. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. The manager of the place was kind and very welcoming. I'm not a big sushi eater, but this place challenged everything I knew about it. We were served with a sample of these fried sweet chili peppers. Very good. I'm going to guess it was fried Shishito? Goes down well with a Sapporo. Now if there is one thing to grab on the menu it is the Meteor Roll. It is a chef special and it is delicious. I don't know if it's because the roll was fried, but with some soy sauce mixed with wasabi, it had a great kick to it. Nice and spicy with full flavor. I promise you won't regret it.

Relatively authentic yakitori in downtown Philly. menu is vast, Yakitori is simple by design, but simply grilled chicken meats are quite tasty. I have eaten yakitori in LA, NYC, S.F. and in Japan. This place holds its own. I did not try the sushi, but who goes to yakitori for the sushi?

Yakitori is lots of fun if you enjoy Japanese style foods or if you enjoy sushi. I always eat at the downstairs restaurant. The atmosphere is modern yet secluded. Iv been here many times, usually I try to get their Tuesday/Wednesday Specials for price deducted sushi or yakitori. This place is a must for everyone weather it be a date night, girls night out, or happy hour! They also have Sapporo on draft!

We went with a group and wasn't sure what to expect since none of us had been here before. We were seated in the lounge area instead of a private room because we booked too late. The rooms get booked months in advanced we were told. There was 16 of us and as it turned out the lounge was lots of fun. Everyone sang Karaoke and it was a blast. The group ordered lots of appetizers for the table and everything I tried was wonderful.

What a find!!! Just near China town. Very cute and very authentic. Had some amazing food, it was fantastic. Not sure that this makes my point of how tasty, amazing and great this food is, but the Yakitori selection was what blew me away. I had not tried it before, but the selection was huge and the choices we made were all incredibly tasty. Took the recommendation of another reviewer and went early which was a very good call as it was packed when we left. Great for a couple or a group but definitely give this place a try.

Had a great time at Yakitori boy in philly. Attended a birthday gathering. We reserved a private room and its sound proofed and has selections for karaoke. We enjoyed a few hours of appetizers, drinks and song after song of our choosing. It was a very nice experience.

We got a private room for a bachelorette party this past weekend. I emailed Yakitori Boy prior to our arrival, and they told us we could split the check up to 5 times. I knew we would be going to the restaurant with cheap or picky eaters/drinkers. We know this can be an issue, so before we ordered anything we asked the waiter if we could split up the check. Basically the answer was "no." But that they would accept as many as 10 credit cards. Needless to say we spent about 40 minutes trying to split up the bill at the end of the night. In the end two of us got completely screwed and had to cover most of the bill. If it wasn't for the not being able to split up the check, this would have been the best time any of us ever had. The food was great, the singing was so much fun. Seriously a great time!

So this was fun until our room rental time was up, and then we were rather rudely put out middle of a song which would have been understandable except that room sat empty for the next two hours or so that we were there. So why did we get bounced mid song? Idk. Pricey drinks

Was in Philadelphia for one night only and read good reviews about this place on TripAdvisor and decided to give it a try. The place is very nice (some guests were a bit noisy but it's not the restaurant's fault), service was fast and thoughtful, food was delicious. I would definitely recommend it :)

I didn’t expect much walking in because Yakitori Boy had an awful smell like old, sour dishrags were used to wipe down all the tables. However, we were pleasantly surprised by the food and the service. Sushi was fresh and there was a decent selection of rolls on special for the day we were in.

Ate their for dinner tonight. Everything we had was super. We tried several of the sashimi's that were on special. They had Corona's for $3 and they were super cold, coldest beer I have had on our visit to Philly. We also tried several items including the softshell crab and the oyster tempura. They were both excellent. The asparagus skewers were very good. We also had the bacon wrapped quail eggs and the bacon wrapped hot peppers. Had the one special roll. Service was good and price was good for sushi in the big city.

Yakitori Boy has become a staple for me ... I've been coming here every so often, either with my wife or a group of friends/family, for the past few years. The menu changes every so often, with the best staying the same. Their menu consists of appetizers (takoyaki and negimaki, mmmm), various sushi, sashimi, skewers, etc. The center of the menu has special rolls that come and go. There are also special deal days like $1 Skewer Tuesdays. Regular sushi rolls come in 3 pieces so that's a little disappointing. Prices are reasonable as sushi prices go. Upstairs is the karaoke bar, where you can sing in the main lobby/bar area or reserve rooms for private use. Only reason I lowered it a star is that while the food is food, it can be inconsistent sometimes. Service is same way... a few times they forgot something we order, which would be quickly fixed. But it's the principle of the thing. Fun, "hip" atmosphere, good food, good drinks.... not bad for a late night in Chinatown.
Alot of Fun
Always have a great time here! I normally Stay upstairs but the food is great downstairs and the atmosphere is great for small parties.
