This is just average food with bad service. We waited forever to get anything. The food was alright. Our pancakes were burnt. The scrambled eggs are premade so a little dry. Drinks are overly priced. We had water that was warm, gross. I wouldn't go back.

We arrived at this place on a Saturday around 9:30am and were seated immediately, the place was 70% full. Service was efficient and friendly. Food was good, my avocado omelette was delicious. Extensive menu with lots of options, the only downside was the coffee, It wasn't bad but could be better.

Eggs and orange/strawberry juice were good . Service was very slow. Missed part of our order, the pancakes/waffles were ordinary and doughy and coffee, while good and hot, was weak.

Visiting Chicago for the weekend....wish there was a Yolk on Cape Cod! The choices on the menu were wide and varied. Everything was fresh and yummy. Atmosphere was comfortable and overall truly loved the whole experience! We sat at the breakfast bar but you could sit outside or in. So worth it ! Look no further to start your day ! Yolk is it !!!!

This is the second year we have visited Chicago and enjoyed Yolk both times. There are many locations but we went to this one each time as it is conveniently located just a few blocks from Michigan Avenue. The food, service, and atmosphere are great. They have a patio to sit outside when the weather is nice. The stuffed french toast is great as is the chocolate chip waffle. Our server we had this time-Michelle-was fantastic. She had great suggestions and was very outgoing and friendly. We will eat there each time we are in Chicago.

we had the California omelette and south beach half pineapple for breakfast. pancakes and muffin came with these orders. they were yummy. its drip coffee was just perfect with topped ups. outdoor seatings were comfortable and shaded. Highly recommend

The absolute wore service ever. Came with the family waited outside for a table for 15 minutes, which is totally understandable but not 20 more minutes without being acknowledged. What a joke.

If you find a place to eat were you have to stand in line to get a table because it's full of locals then you know it will be worth the wait. Four of us ate breakfast here every day for a week and everything from the coffee to the service was outstanding. Just this one dish will I hope give you some idea of the quality :- Half a pineapple hollowed out and filled with pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, banana and home made greek yoghurt. Absolutely Delicious!

We got into Chicago fairly early for a conference and took a walk to Yolk for breakfast. It did NOT disappoint. We were able to walk right in and didn't have a reservation. Our waitress was very attentive and our food was amazing. If you like cinnamon rolls, you MUST try them. I wish I would have stopped before I left and got some to bring home.

Had the French toast with berries, yoghurt and granola and it was truly amazing. Huge size so could barely eat it all but worth each mouthful. Loved it and great value for money.

This is a real gem for breakfast or brunch and we always enjoy eating here, but haven’t done so for months. So for us on this occasion the best part was getting to eat our favorites- the Hey Ricky and a Kale Scrambler. Delicious with unlimited coffee. Reasonable prices, a comprehensive menu, & great service. Can’t beat it. Check it out - you’ll love it.

The French toast I had was delicious. Service was very good. The best part is the ice in the drinks. I like a lot of ice in my beverage and the ice here is perfect!!

Meal was great. I had the eggs Benedict and one muffin must’ve had pepper on it as it was hot, but other wasn’t. Tamra (waitress) was nice. Website is big hype. Would give 3.5 but no halves to give. Nice outlook.

What a way to start your day. We had a sunday brunch. Arrived and had to wait around 30 minutes to get seated. It was packed but it was worth the wait. Service was very good and the food, amazing.

During our visit to Chicago we took our breakfast in Yolk Streetersville..It was a very busy restaurant and opens for breakfast and lunch timings only. We took Pancake's and mushroom omelette for breakfast along with coffee. Really it was a tasty dish. Staff service equally good, with staff behaviour excellent. A must visit to the restaurant.

The fantastic breakfast spot has a wide variety of food that is done well and right. I recommend this place to anyone who wants an excellent meal before they start their day!

This way, your wait for a table will be MUCH shorter! (I used "waitlist" on Yelp) Fast and friendly service (but not rushed even though there are people waiting..) Extensive menu - ANY sort of breakfast item you want. AND, if you can't find what you are looking for, just ask.. Bright and lively restaurant. Positive and fun vibe just being there!

We took an Uber to the Streeterville location because it had no wait. Breakfast was delicious. So many yummy looking menu options. I loved having goat and feta cheeses available for the build-your-own omelette. Only negative was the food took longer than I expected for a mainly breakfast spot (we ordered an omelette, and biscuits and gravy).

Great breakfast spot. I had the Hey Ricky omelette, which was fantastic. Spicy, cheesy awesomeness. My friend had a bagel sandwich that was excellent. Large portions, great service. Can’t wait to go there again!

Horrible service. Mediocre food. The server was rude and the manager had to come over to apologize. Much better places to go for brunch// breakfast.

Most of the folks coming here do the breakfast options no matter what time of day - the locals know why ... We did the lunch fare and it was good. But I would stick with their signature breakfast items....

Very popular and packed for breakfast and you’ll probably have a wait. However, it’s well worth. We had a seat at the bar, so got a bird’s eye view of the kitchen and the servers. It’s like poetry in motion, frenetic and bustling but so well organised. We had fluffy pancakes which were light and melt in the mouth. Recommend the Yolk all-Star combo. Thoroughly recommended.

Good breakfast spot on a busy corner. Lots of spicy flavors infused in the dishes. The signature hot sauce leaves an after burn. I ordered hot black tea and it came loose leaf so that was extra points for me. We each got the eggs Benedict but the hollandaise sauce was very thin and lacking but overall the dish was good.

I had been to Yolk before. My only complaint is they did not want to give us a menu, you are supposed to scan a thing and read it on your phone. Well, I am not going to do that. Phone screens are too small to do this easily. They finally found a menu. Menu is much condensed from before Covid, but food was good, service good. Restroom was clean. I had a citrus salad, my brother had a burger with an egg on it - does not appeal to me,but he liked it. Prices are reasonable.

Came here on the first morning of our trip, and it definitely did not disappoint. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices on the menu. Will definitely be back when looking for a longer sit down breakfast.

We went here on a Wednesday morning, so it was easy to get a table. The food served was fresh and served quickly - portions were big but not too big. Would love to go here again!

We visited Chicago in February and it was freezing and fell across this place which had big hot US breakfasts and we went back on 3 occasions. We had eggs, sausage, grits, bacon and French toast plus mountains of coffee, just the start you need before walking around a windy freezing city. Good service but yes a bit pricey but again it is in the middle of a large city so expect to pay a little bit more. Enjoy.

Divine! The service from Melissa was terrific and the food quality was beautiful! I'd eat here any day and all day if I could! Salmon and poached eggs, and coffee.

Family friendly with lots of tasty options. Friendly prompt staff in an indoor and outdoor environment😎 Nice kids menu

We really enjoyed our brunch here. I had an eggs with pesto and ham which was really tasty and portions were huge. Everything was really nice except the coffee which was sold as unlimited but we were only offered 1 cup the whole time we were there.

No wait for a table, but my group of four waited 15 minutes for coffee, another 10 for our order to be taken and 25 more for our food. I ordered the BLTSMA Wheat toast, smoked Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato, Swiss, Mayo, smashed Avocado. Please explain to me what cheese is doing on a BLT? I suppose you might ask the same about the avocado, but in this case there was so little of it I could barely taste it. The bacon was limp, the lettuce limper, the fries a close third. The tomato was good, the toast okay. I liked the pickle. All in all a sandwich that is so easy to put together, how did Yolk find a way to mess it up? Also, this is the first place of its kind where I was offered fruit as an alternative to fries, but was told that it would be $1.50 extra. Not a real encouragement for those wishing to avoid extra fat.

Came here for breakfast one morning and had a lovely time. We were seated right away ans service was friendly and attentive. Food was big and tasty and came with unlimited coffee. Price was very reasonable and there was lots to choose from.

Grabbed lunch here while visiting in the downtown Chicago area. There really isn't any (or practically non-existent) parking in the area so I walked here from my nearby hotel. There is a good amount of seating and the place is busy with the locals. The place was fairly clean overall with employees constantly sweeping and cleaning things up. Overall the staff ranged from somewhat friendly to dismissive with the service being equally inconsistent. My food was very good however, they give you a miniscule amount of ketchup in a small metal cup that isn't even full and they grudgingly will give you another small dollop in a cup if you ask for more. My server was quick to take my order but then all but ignored me for the rest of my visit so I had to ask someone for refills. When they continued to ignore me, my server finally realized I wanted something and he obliged. While the food here was decent, the service was lackluster so be warned if you come here.

If you like breakfast food and LOTS of it, Yolk is the place to be. I ordered the “All Star Combo” that included: eggs, bacon (way good!), sausage links, and two large pancakes with butter and Vermont maple syrup (warmed). The meats were absolutely delicious, and the maple syrup was terrific with the pancakes. I needed a bit more butter than the teaspoon or so that i received. Our server was accommodating. The pancakes were large, but a bit spongy, however the bit of powered sugar dusting was a nice touch. Coffee was strong, hot and absolutely delicious! Evidently, it is Yolk’s signature blend. Refills were plentiful. Price point is high. The service was attentive, if not necessarily engaging. The space is open, airy and full of windows which makes it a nice early morning spot. All in all, my experience was quite good.

So good! Staff was perfectly wonderful and the food was unique, beautifully planted and tasted just as good. We loved it. My son and husband agree. Would definitely recommend it and go back!Best waffles I have ever had.

Yolk, in the Streeterville neighbourhood of downtown Chicago is always packed in the morning and now I know why. They serve great breakfasts! The 5 egg omelets are delicious and more than enough food for 2 adults. The accompanying potatoes are fantastic and they even offer gluten free toast. My only negative is the that their coffee is mediocre but the food more than makes up for that.

What an amazing breakfast! Everything on the menu looked good, everything we ordered tasted good. And the waitress was very friendly. A place well worth visiting.

I must say that it’s a VERY popular place. There was a 30 min wait when we arrived that ended in 15 minutes. It’s a functional restaurant that could be named the McYolk, so it does not matter the quality but the quantity of parties sold per minute. We were seated just in front of the kitchen and I was able to see how they functioned. I ordered exactly the same food as the day before in other restaurant, and now at 10pm still feel the food in my stomach. It was the most indigestible food I have lately tried. My friends felt the same and some were not able to finish what they ordered when they usually eat like lions. There is something in the cooking process that makes the digestion difficult and makes feel you full for a lo g time.

We had a lunch stop at this buzzy, busy cafe/restaurant and enjoyed our meal. The service is super fast and friendly. There is a great range of dishes including some that would feed the most gargantuan appetites. The food is fresh, tasty with big portion sizes and explains why it has such passionate followers.

I had found this place searching on google where to have breakfast the second day in the city, i did not expect the breakfast to be as good as it was! we had breakfast at 1pm and we did not even regret it, they have the best chocolate chip pancakes, red velvet french toast and the BEST waffles!! if you're a local or a tourist like i am, this place is highly recommended, the prices are reasonable, but the food is amazing!!!

My friend and I came here for breakfast before heading to the airport. I ordered the farmhouse (biscuits & sausage gravy). The service was friendly and quick and my food was hot & delicious. The menu is full of sweet & savory breakfast options, so you’re sure to find something to satisfy every member of your party. They were pretty steadily busy on a Sunday morning and I could see there being a wait at times.

We opted for a full breakfast for our first full day in Chicago. We opted for breakfast at Yolk in Streetville. The service was very good. Breakfast was delicious, we ordered the loaded baked potato cakes, el torero scrambler and the happy cakes.

Nice place without a crazy wait like WildBerry. Really good breakfast and nice service. Enjoyed an egg scramble with sausage, bacon, green onion, and goat cheese. Very clean place.

Ate here while visiting town. Not sure what the typical experience is. But the day we were there, the place was *incredibly* smoky inside. The food was good, as was the service (even though it was hurried). But the smoke really dampened the experience, and there was no mention of it (like a "sorry, our exhaust fan is broke and it's a little smoky in here"). I'd recommend getting that fixed ASAP.

Went with family and got here by luck just exploring around the area Big group of 12 people seated in 20 mins on a Saturday morning. Excellent experience. Food was fresh with great flavor. The best was the service from the staff. Our waiter was on point always checking but giving our space to enjoy the food and time. Pedro one of the guys accommodating the tables was super friendly, telling us his life story. He goes to work by bike 7 miles each way. Very friendly, hard worker and respectful.

Walked to Yolk from our hotel on a 21 degree morning and were greeted so warmly and friendly! Felt right at home. The food was perfect for such a chilly morning. My husband and I both ordered eggs and potatoes. He had a side of pancakes also. The pancakes were light and fluffy with the the eggs being flavorful and fresh! Wish we had a Yolk closer to home.

Yolk was a close walk from our hotel and we went here for lunch the day of our arrival. Be aware that it closes at 2:30 pm. The menu was large and varied with lots of egg options as well as sweet, savory and sandwiches. Service was friendly and attentive. Check it out for breakfast or lunch!

There was nothing wrong with the food. My husband and I were just looking for something a little more authentic “off the beaten path” type. We ordered eggs, bacon, sausage and French toast. The scrambled eggs aren’t cooked to order. I would request freshly scrambled next time.

Get here early to avoid a long wait. The food was imaginative and large portions. I had the chilaquiles verde, which was basically like breakfast nachos. My fiance ordered the California omelet, which he gobbled up. I would recommend for breakfast.

We found this gem for breakfast as it was walking distance from our hotel... we came back every single day. Amazing choices for breakfast and really friendly staff.

Great food with something for everyone from the health conscious to the sweet tooth! Easy walk to the Navy Pier and riverboat cruise!

For people from out of town, this is your place. Yolk delivers some of the best, simple brunch options that Chicago has to offer. You will encounter long lines on most days from 8:30 am - 12 pm, but the food is well worth it. Once you are seated, the food comes fast. I recommend a pancake on the side of whatever you get for your main dish.

This was one of the BEST spots we've visited for a breakfast. It had a nice view, comfortable atmosphere, amazing tasty food, at a great price for our family of 4 (2 kids). Recommend the Breakfast Burrito!

Omelets, French toast, and crepes were amazing. My husband and I only waited a short time (5-10minutes) on a Saturday morning and were seated quickly. The regular coffee was good quality and the strawberry orange juice was good! Will come back!

We came to Yolk after another cafe was busy & were glad we did! It was extremely busy but the guy on the door was so helpful & because we had a UK tel no, not a US one, we couldn’t go on the waiting list for the queue but he found a way round it & got us in! The server was also helpful & cheerful & the food was delicious! It’s recommended by me!

This place was packed but tables turn over quickly so the wait isn’t too long. Great spot for families as well, really enjoyed the avocado toast and would go again next time I’m in Chicago at any of the locations. Great place for families, friends and couples to grab breakfast in a casual atmosphere

Such friendly staff and a knockout breakfast. Go for the green eggs and ham or scrambled eggs with kale and onion. terrific pancakes. Top cup of coffee, too. Our daughter is vegetarian and loved the menu. Terrific set up for a day exploring this great city. Bright environment almost matched the cheerfulness of the staff. This was our first dining experience in Chicago and was a great welcome to the city.

You walk into the very clean and modern room decor with bright light due to many windows around. Greeted by the friendly staff serving the delicious coffee first. Extensive selection of breakfast menu and pancake is so good. Glad that we arrived before 8 AM and after that you may have to prepare to wait in line. Best place for breakfast in the Streeterville, east of downtown Chicago. Many staff members to handle the large volume of tables and customers keep coming to enjoy it.

I read a lot of great reviews but was less than impressed. I got there around 8:15a.m. just before the rush hit. Glad I did because as I left by 9am it was swamped! I order the El Torero Scrambler for $12. They were great about keeping me safe due to my food allergies but their gluten free options were limited. They even said to avoid all the potato dishes. The manager did come to my table to verify my allergies and was very precise. I felt safe. The food came. It was average at best. No side dish options. I could gave had fruit or a salad (yes, for breakfast cuz the had nothing else) but I declined. Waitress was definitely friendly but food was average at best. Not having gluten-free was just not cool.

One of the best places for breakfast in Chicago (they have meals also). I recommend the south beach (photo), fruits and Greek yogurt served in a half pineapple. Amazing.

Great choice for both savory and sweet breakfast options. Service was good and the coffee was good. Cinnamon roll was the highlight of the visit.

Great meal. Very crowded and full of families with young kids. If you are looking for a quiet place to nurse a hangover, this isn't for you. Service was swift and friendly. Portions was large and we felt like we got out money's worth

Enjoyed a nice breakfast at Yolk. The restaurant is, as expected with the name, a breakfast themed eatery. There are several tables and a great eat at diner counter-top. The menu is a great mix of omelettes, corned beef hash, egg dishes, breakfast burritos, etc...my waiter was very good and attentive. I had the corned beef hash scramble with two eggs sunny side up, added an English muffin, a side of fruit and a cup of coffee. Overall a good choice for breakfast in Chicago.

my review is strictly for a carry out order for five. ordered online, food was ready at time stated. our order consisted of various orders: Yolk All-Star Combo, Countryside Skillet,Two Eggs, prices are what you'd expect for downtown chicago. plentiful food. my personal dish was countryside skillet which tasted a tad salty for my taste.

Eggs, potatoes and pancakes for breakfast. Good size portions were served. Fresh squeezed OJ was very good. Pretty sure the syrup was from a bottle (e.g. Log Cabin), so that was a little disappointing to someone who is used to real maple syrup. Wait staff was fine.

This is a good family oriented restaurant. We enjoyed our brunch and look forward to going back again for more! Service was good. My only negative is that you have to line up by the front door to pay your bill. There's not much room for people lining up to pay and those trying to get in to eat. it was a bit confusing where folks are suppose to do -- where to stand in line. Otherwise, a great place.

Be prepared to stand in line or a wait up to an hour depending on the time of day . The foods great and the service is awesome at least our waitress was .:) It was worth the wait food was delish

My sister, my young son and I ate breakfast here on a Saturday morning while visiting Chicago. I had heard good things about the restaurant and was following them on IG for a while. Our meal did not disappoint! I had the breakfast burrito and it was delicious! The kids' menu had some great choices. My son had the pancakes with chocolate chips and strawberries. The coffee was very tasty too! I will definitely return to the restaurant the next time I'm in the city.

It is hard to find a good place for breakfast before a morning meeting. The hotels start at 7, sometimes 6:30. Yolk was clean, bright and welcoming at 6am. I has corned beef hash with poached eggs my first morning and it was delicious with rich flavors and savory onions. My second day i has eggs benedict which had PERFECTLY COOKED eggs and a delicious sauce. The coffee was Hot and fresh. They have an extensive menu.

There was a wait when we arrived but we were seated quickly. The menu is large and the breakfast is wonderful. Plenty of food, we took half with us. The daily pancake was awesome, would substitute that for potatoes any day! Service was great, we even had a conversation as we were paying on what our day looked like, and he provided suggestions. Very welcoming

Amazing choice and top quality food. Staff very welcoming and attentive. So glad we found this amazing place for breakfast. Wish I had be here for longer to sample more of the menu

Couldn’t finish my meal, the portions are generous. The bacon was perfectly cooked! The pancakes were super fluffy! The Turkey sausage and scrambled cheese eggs. Yum!

Arrived 7:30 AM at end of morning walk. I'll try. Bad decision. Seated immediately in almost empty section. Waited and waited. Signaled the first passing employee who said "Oh sorry, they are all in a meeting." He did get me a cup of burnt coffee and took my order. Read on line news while waiting for avocado toast. A little after 8, meeting broke and wait staff flooded area. Asked about order to another passer by--there were three others standing and chatting by coffee stand. "Oh, sorry". A few minutes more and new person brought the toast. Cold toast, one slice cut in three, lots of salmon chopped and mixed with onion, etc. mounded on top with thin slices of avocado over dill butter. At least the salmon had some taste. Coffee refills now coming to my table, the only one occupied in this section. Asked for check which came from another new server. I knew when leaving that this experiment was a failure. Back to my regular bkfst. spots.

Yeah Yolk is good. For me it wasn't much different from a Denny's, but other people at my table ordered more interesting meals and they were really happy with food. If you happen to be in the area and looking for breakfast or brunch, you can't go wrong with Yolk.

To much money. It’s nothing great. I live in the area and I’m very disappointed in the quality of food

Always love coming here, but EARLY because it gets quite busy in the later morning. On Memorial Day I feared getting there at 8:30 am would be a little late, but I was delighted when we were immediately seated. Our server, Madison F., took good care of us. We enjoyed the California Omelette and a Hey Ricky as well. Both were large and delicious (as always). The food is consistently good and plentiful. The service is prompt and professional and the atmosphere is a great place to start the day. However; arriving later on the weekend can encounter quite a line - which we saw when leaving. So we highly recommend you try Yolk at any of their locations, but remember get there early for a filling start to your day.

With floor to ceiling windows allowing you to 'people watch' while enjoying a variety of choices for breakfast, Yolk was more than accommodating in satisfying our early morning hunger. That said, Amber did an outstanding job of keeping our coffee cups full and was quick and efficient in delivering our timely meals.

At a table of four, two orders of pancakes/bagels were decent but two egg skillet orders were served with raw potatoes. The skillet I had resulted in a quick “return” of the food in the ladies’ room. Save yourself the money/nausea and order baked goods.

We called ahead (on the app) to reserve our spot in line and after an 8 minute walk from our hotel we were seated immediately. There were plenty of people waiting so I suggest you use this app. The food we plentyful, the service was attentive and the flavors were creative and tasty. Our coffee was filled continuously. There was one downside We were offered cute seating outside but our daugther was a little cold so instead we were seated in a booth. There were 3 open booths but we bypassed two to be seated in the corner - right against a swining door that was a constant traffic jam of people coming in and out. We looked on to a service cart. Bottom line - there should not be a table in this location. My husband's arm was getting bumped the entire time. There is plenty of seating to never use this booth. I'd say it was the equilivant of sitting next to the toilets on an airplane. To be fair, the waitress asked if the seat was ok. I figured she wouldn't put us somewhere that was a bad seat. She did. Still, a great place to eat!

It was a big breakfast indeed. I ordered California omelet that had smashed avocado, sauteed mushroom, green onion, tomato, swiss, cheddar, garlic and sour cream mixed with white eggs and came with pomme fritters and toast (see picture). The omelet excited me as most of the ingredients were my favorite. The service was responsive yet the ambiance was not that comfortable because it was rather noisy (Yolk was a popular breakfast spot) and squeezy. If you like egg breakfast, this is the place, but you need to disregard the noise.

Not sure why this is so hyped in Chicago. Long waits (45m on a weekend) with average diner style food and high costs. They will also charge you for every little extra, for example if you change milk to soy milk Get ready to pay more... Strange... At least to me...

Efficient and friendly staff. Huge portions of tasty food (eggs Benedict, breakfast bagel and the pancake of the month were all good choices). You won’t be disappointed stopping in here for a bite.

Folks at my Conference were talking about how good the food was here. I tried it and was disappointed. Obviously I ordered the wrong thing. It was lunch time and my sandwich was very very ordinary. The French fries were great. The place was very busy......almost chaotic. I had to sit at the counter because of the wait for a table. It was uncomfortable and there was no where to place my purse so it was in my lap. I had it on the back of my chair and customers rushing by knocked it off. Service was decent and friendly. If I went again I would stick with breakfast items only.

Solid breakfast options. Huge portions. Really friendly staff. Great place to get great food. Red velvet french toast is a standout for those with a sweet tooth!

After eating at a different Yolk location for breakfast, we needed a stop for lunch after a great river cruise. This Yolk had a great menu, so many delicious choices. The service was wonderful, reasonable prices. Friendly staff.

Our server this morning was awesome, and she gave us great recommendations on what to do in the city. The food was good. Eggs, sausage, and cheese grits were delicious. The only bad thing was the pancakes were so overcooked that they were hard and kinda crunchy. That was disappointing, but other than that, it’s a good place!

We went for a late breakfast before we hit Navy Pier. We ordered the bacon waffles, Nutella crepes, salmon and eggs, and protein and eggs. All were delicious! The server was kind and attentive, and we loved the yellow and blue decor. Highly recommended when you're in the area!

I ordered the iron man omelet; 5 egg whites, avocado and other good stuff. It came with grits or potatoes, toast or pancakes. $14. You won't leave hungry! Lots to choose from.

Breakfast was okay, but not anymore. Prices from the menu on TripAdvisor have currently been exceeded by about 50%. You can't pay by card.

We had been to the Yolk in the South Loop several times over the years but this was our first time at the Streeterville location and it was as delicious as the other one. It was only moderately busy when we arrived on a December Friday morning. Coffee was piping hot and our food came very quickly after we ordered. A custom omelet was generously large and perfectly cooked as was an order of Eggs Benedict with spot on poached eggs. Cheesy Grits were very good as were breakfast potatoes and a hearty multigrain toast. A great place to start the day in Chicago!

A family breakfast event. Good food, friendly staff and efficient service. Location is perfect for runners preparing for upcoming Chicago marathon :-)

This is a chain so everything is cookie cutter. That being said I was impressed by the variety of choices. Husband had oatmeal with very fresh berries on top. I had caprese eggs benny which was great and the pesto on top was a nice touch. Daughter had Farm House with sausage gravy - she didn’t like the biscuits but enjoyed everything else. I also enjoyed the fresh squeezed strawberry and orange juice- all in all a good choice for breakfast or lunch in Chicago

Took my wife and 3 kids here (12, 10, 6) and had an absolutely DELICIOUS breakfast with TREMENDOUS service. Charla was our server and she was great. Highly recommend stopping by Yolk if you find yourself downtown in the morning!!! We arrived at 8 on Labor Day, which was good because the line at 9:00 was super long!

My husband and I came here on a whim while we were trying to figure something out for breakfast. This place was wonderful! I never have high hopes for restaurant coffee as it’s usually just meh and this was fantastic. The staff was incredibly friendly and engaging and seemed to really enjoy their jobs. The food was amazing and the portions are huge! Would definitely come back here again!

My family and I were in town for a wedding. We stopped at Yolk for breakfast. Upon arriving I gave the hostess my name and number. She told me she would text me when our table was ready, which was to be about a 30 minute wait. After 35 minutes I went in to see how much longer it would be. She said that she didn’t have my name down for a reservation. I asked her to look it up by phone number, thinking perhaps she put the name down wrong. Still no luck. Instead she said she could add me to the list and that there were still 6 people ahead of me. By this time 45 minutes had gone by. I should have asked to speak to a manager but instead walked away out of disgust. I will never visit here again and I would highly recommend that you double check that they have your name down for a reservation.

Very handy to where we stayed in Chicago. Great menu and we had the best waitress I can remember in recent history. Fast service and great food.

Place is clean, bright and good selection of food. Had a "make my own 5 egg omlet" and it was packed full of meat, cheese and my own veggie selection. Nice to have customized options. Think of it as picky eaters solution...that's right....even your kid (friend or spouse etc.) can find or create something they like.

Simply perfect! I was here two times, if you are in Chicago, you MUST go there for a brunch, food is really tasteful and staff is friendly . I kindly suggest the west coast crepes! One time Yolk, always Yolk!

Waited 40 minutes at 9:15 am on a Saturday. Noisy and very crowded waiting area, but they text you when the table was ready- a plus in all that noise. Top of table was cleaned off when we got there, but high chair, food on seats, spit up and lots of food all over the floor in multiple places. To their credit, it was promptly and efficiently cleaned up when we told them.. Our waitress Rebecca was great- and coffee and food came very fast! Food was pretty good but pancakes were in the dry side. Overall a cheery, busy place- but too noisy for our taste.

Wonderful from start to finish - friendly service, fast, plenty of options, huge portions, reasonably priced. Would definitely come back

Went here with my friends for breakfast. Such amazing food and service! Probably one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to in Chicago. Highly recommended!

We haven't been here in awhile and had no idea how much food we were going to get for so little money. Everything was absolutely amazing and we left utterly stuffed, with at least half of everything left on our plates! The gingerbread pancakes taste like giant gingerbread cookies transformed into pancakes; unbelievable! The smoked salmon scrambler was incredible! The eggs Benedict and breakfast burrito were also fantastic! Our server was great; efficient, and he had wonderful suggestions!

Omelet was awesome! Kids really enjoyed the French Toast sticks and Pancakes! Service was fast and very good! Overall very positive experience!

Terrible. Wouldn’t let us check in online. Got there five minutes later. Had a 30 minute wait. Our server took 30 minutes to get our drinks. People in our sections were still waiting for food 45 minutes later. Management wouldn’t do Anything about it. They stopped seating in that section but wouldn’t help the server. Good not good. I would suggest another restaurant.

We have been here twice. If you arrive before 9 am the wait is 20 - 25 min after that it gets busier. We sat at the lunch counter. The waitstaff was attentive and friendly and the food was good. The portions were just right not too much or too little. we ordered Chilaquiles and Avocado Toast

Had been to another yolk location years ago. This is just a great breakfast place worth lots of options, traditional and also creative (spicy, good Mexican breakfast). Great, fast service with a smile.

Good food, large plates and good variety to choose from! Highly recommend when visiting Chicago. $12-$16 for most plates. $75 for 4 people. Sat by window looking out on E. Grand Ave.

Came for the tasty brunch, stayed for the service. Visited while staying in Magnificent Mile with our 18month old son and we were treated like royalty throughout the stay. The food was already great but the consistent checking in to make sure we were taken care of was great! Chilaquiles were pretty good, make sure to add chicken! The Croque Madame was tasty and is served on Challah French Toast Bread. Good flavor. Most definitely making a return visit!

A late breakfast/ early lunch was wonderful. Husband had cheesy grits with sausage biscuits and gravy and loved it to the last crumb. I had the yogurt/granola pineapple and was very pleased- delicious and fresh!

My husband and I ate here our first day in the city and sat outside to enjoy the nice weather. The menu has lots of options and the staff is friendly and helpful. I had the homemade yogurt with berries and it was delicious. Definitely, a great place to eat when you are in the area.

Great spot for breakfast or brunch in Chicago. It was busy when we arrived, but we were seated very quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. The service was fantastic and the food lived up to the hype. Portions are generous without being over-the-top, and everything came out hot and well prepared. A special shoutout to their Yolk-branded habanero sauce—it’s absolutely amazing and adds the perfect kick. Would definitely return on our next trip.

Awesome food and service. We loved our waiter Jon. My husband needs lots and lots of coffee, Jon made sure he had it. Jon joked around with us. I ate crepes with 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage ,juice and coffee. The overall experience was excellent. I even grabbed a pen as a souvenir. Check out the statue of Mr. Streeter in your way out.

One of the best breakfast I have ever had. Great price too! Waiter (Nathan) was great. Lot of good food for little money. A must visit place!

We had a lovely breakfast after we had arrived in Chicago for a vacation during the summer. It was great. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious! If I could go back today I would stay there all day!

It's good to have choices. This family group of four people ordered 3 lunches and 1 breakfast after our morning at the movies. I chose the Pot Roast Sandwich with au jus, melted Swiss cheese, grilled on sour dough bread. Yum. Hot fries and an added house salad made a great lunch.

Great stop for breakfast. My wife and I were in Chicago for vacation and we stopped for breakfast. The place was busy, but we got right in. The wait staff was great and the food was good.

The service was great and location is convenient. The food is fresh and delicious. We will definitely be back to try the waffles.

Stopped here with my wife for a quick breakfast before heading to the museum downtown. Breakfast was cooked nice and fresh great wait staff.

We stopped in Yolk for some breakfast while in Chicago. We were seated immediately and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was good - breakfast skillet and bacon waffles - and the lady who was looking after us gave us fantastic service.

We enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast at Yolk this morning at outdoor seating by a small park. Oatmeal, omelette and grits plus beverages that were all very good. Stop by!

We usually go to Wildberry when visiting Chicago but decided to try Yolk because of all of the great reviews. I have to say it was only ok. We arrived early on Saturday morning and although it wasn't busy, our waiter was nowhere to be found most of the time. My waffles were not cooked all the way through and our waiter did not check to see if the food was to our liking after serving it. When he finally came back to our table, the waiter was apologetic and had them remade. We ended up waiting for another 20 mins for them and my husband had long finished his crepes by then. It wasn't a horrible experience, just not a great one either.

Had never been to a Yolk and enjoyed it so much we went back two days later! Huge huge meals- definitely share if you can decide on one dish. Eggs are the best! Staff lovely. Sit at the bar if you can’t get a table. Go on line to get on the waitlist as you’re walking over!

The breakfast here was insanely fantastic! I loved how this place had breakfast items here that I have never seen before! For example, I had the Nutty Monkey Cakes (the best pancakes I have ever had and I especially enjoyed the peanut butter sprad in the middle YUMMY!!) Try their french toast latte too, please!!

We have been coming to Yolk for years and always get the eggs Benedict the pot roast Benedict was exceptional and the chorizo Benedict unbelievable.

7 years ago, in 2015, my wife and I started a Route 66 road trip in Chicago and ate breakfast at Yolk. I was so impressed with it, that 7 years later…on our second U.S.A. Road trip…we couldn’t wait to go again! And the wait was worth it! Epic portions, friendly service, and tasty! The ONLY downside, which is purely a personal preference, is the absence of hash browns from the menu, but Yolk is without a doubt one of my favourite breakfast places I’ve ever been to in America…and quite possibly…the world 👀👏 See you again soon Yolk, hopefully sooner this time around!

We stopped by for breakfast on a Monday. The staff were friendly and seated us quickly. There were many options on the menu and the coffee menu was great. I ordered a blueberry muffin latte and it was delicious! For breakfast I ordered the Banana Bread French Toast. It came with a side of peanut butter and maple syrup. It was amazing. I would recommend to anyone that loves banana bread. We had a wonderful time and will be back!

overpriced for the small amount of food we got, waitress didn’t ask or explained the dishes brought everything wrong and we were waiting excessively for the table for the waitress for the check and it wasn’t rush hour it wasn’t that full

We went to Yolk for a late breakfast while visiting Chicago. Glad we did. The waiter was friendly and attentive answering our numerous questions. His recommendations were spot on. The wife and I decided to split the Everything Omelette. This thing was huge! The menu described it as a five-star omelette and it was! It was yummy! The other member of our group decided on chicken and waffles. Menu called for bacon waffle but she was allowed to substitute a regular Belgian waffle. It came with sausage gravy which she asked for on the side. The chicken breast was huge - it covered the entire waffle! Breakfast was terrified! The coffee was some of the best we have ever had. It is made in Chicago. For a special treat, you can buy a bag of it and take it home. Next time in Chicago, we will definitely stop in again for breakfast.

Yolk was recommended by a local, so I knew it would be good. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs, hash browns, and coffee. I lucked out and sat right away at the bar and my food hit the table in less than 8 minutes. Some of the best biscuits I've had. The drip coffee was fresh and hot. Service, excellent. Total w/tip $28.

Went to Yolk for breakfast. We were told would be an hour wait but found seats at the bar. Table was ready in 11 min but we stayed at the bar with our waitress Sarah! She was great! We went with her recommendation of Croque Madame. French toast sandwich! Was delicious. Our friends had the 5 egg omelet which they said was also very good. Coffee was excellent. So if in Chicago again we will definitely so back!

Long wait, but it was a festival weekend, so to be expected. The food was great. They have chipped ice which I absolutely love. The service was friendly. I will be going back anytime I am in Chicago.

Split the Very Berry French Toast and some eggs. Wow on the french toast - yummy with a big pile of fresh fruit. Highly recommended.

Super extensive breakfast menu, good portion size and great value for money. Recommend the 3 egg scrambler with sides of fruit & toast (lots of side options available), or the homemade granola, Greek yoghurt & berries with.muffin accompaniment.

::Sighs:: We shall meet again soon, my precious, PRECIOUS Grilled Cheese Supreme <3. Truly the plate to get here. And if there's space in your heart for some suga', order the banana peanut butter french toast and thank me later :) mmmmm... shoo good...

As the name suggests the menu is strongly based on egg dishes. Decor is a cheery yellow. Servings are more than adequate. Variety of omelettes. Outdoor sitting available

This restaurant is pretty big in size. Plenty of tables. They also have counter service. The breakfast menu is pretty extensive. You can get almost anything you can imagine. They offer water to all tables. The coffee is pretty good. The food was good. I had an egg white scramble. My wife had the Mac and cheese skillet(very large portion) You do get a lot of food. The service was friendly and quick.

Normally breakfast is hard to mess up, or hard to excel at. Most breakfast focused restaurants are not too bad, but few stand out. Although there are not many exotic items on the menu, there is enough variety to go beyond the usual omelette and other standard fare on everyone’s menu. They had huevos rancheros, and other items just a little different from the usual. The multigrain pancakes were a world away from the more common Bisquick fare available everywhere else. Portions were huge, so some will be better off sharing.

As a local, despite increasing competition, nobody matches the smooth flow here, top notch service, great menu covering every possible breakfast or lunch desire. Very personal service; hard working staff. Quality of food preparation very consistently good. convenient location east of hotels on Michigan Ave; Fairbanks; on the way to Navy Pier.

Really delicious. Huge menu with something for everyone. Big American portions. High quality food of all kinds. Some fancy stuff but the basics were best. My kids were in heaven.

It was on the high side of average. Both my husband and I ordered our eggs "medium" and the whites were pretty runny. Bacon was thick but surprisingly not that great tasting. Asked hostess if we could be seated outside - she said 15 minutes so we said we'd eat inside. We were seated , saw a couple tables open outside and then saw someone seated outside right after we sat down. On the plus side, our server was very attentive and friendly.

We had the cinnamon roll french toast, steak and eggs and the Nutella crepe. All were good, service was attentive and quick, whats not to love? A bit pricey, but huge portion sizes!

great food and service. convient location. a large variety of options, we were 6 and everything we ordered was great and tasty

Excellent breakfast spot. The skillet is very tasty and the Eggs Benedict was perfectly done. Service is great. Best breakfast in Chicago. You will not be disappointed

The food was delicious! The hot sauce is amazing. It was a very hot and sunny day, the staff realizing this brought us water glasses filled with ice, as well as gave us to go cups with ice on our way out. Excellent service!

There was a large selection. We had a hard time deciding on which items we wanted to order. We all loved what we ordered. The waitress was very attentive.

The food was really good but expensive for what it is. I had the smallest glass of orange juice I’ve ever seen. It was $3 and very disappointing. The table they sat us at wasn’t clean, there were a couple of sticky places and my leg stuck to syrup on the leg of the chair which was gross (I was wearing shorts). Overall not worth the money, I’ll find a different breakfast place next time I’m in Chicago.

This is our fourth visit to a Yolk. Have always been happy with the food. This time we got Yolk Combos- 2 eggs, 4 bacon, and pancakes or french toast. They had run out of sausage so gave us two bacon to replace two sausage. The food was hot & tasty. The coffee very good. The staff was friendly, the service could have been a little more attentive.

Great food, good location and prices are reasonable considering it’s right in downtown. However, if you are looking for peace and quite, then this is definitely NOT the place for you. One tip is to try to do a Yelp call ahead before showing up, as it can get pretty busy on the weekends (more than an hour wait). Nice place and will be coming back tomorrow.

Great place for breakfast! Food was great and portions were huge! Excellent service! Loved it. Highly recommend!

I ordered eggs over medium and they had runny whites. Pancakes were fair, coffee mediocre. Overall decent stop for a quick breakfast, but didn’t return in our 3 days in Chicago.

I live in the neighborhood and occasionally the logistics favor that I eat at the Yolk. Every time I swear it is my last visit due to the noise level. The food is good, but you can’t have a conversation with the person across from you. And who needs to eat a five egg omelet?

Great place to start your day if you are staying near the Mag Mile. Expected a wait for our table for 5, but the tables turn quickly and once we were seated, had coffee and beverages in no time. Our table went 5 for 5, everyone left happy and full ... I had the “Hey Ricky” Omelette with the cheesy grits, but I think the bonus play was my daughter subbing out regular toast for a sweet treat (Cinnamon Roll French Toast), which was a meal in itself for a couple extra bucks

It always throws me when there is a new menu, though rarely is there much deviation when something just works. Yolk works. I went with the French Toast which was topped with granola, yoghurt, fruit and honey. It was delicious,.setting me up for the day.

I visited this restaurant with my friend for breakfast during my recent trip to Chicago. I ordered the 5 eggs California omelette with potatoes and English muffin! The omelette was very delicious and the service was great! I would highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Chicago.

Had a great breakfast here. Eggs were the best cooked, tastiest I can ever remember having in a restaurant. Thinking about coming back even though would like to try other places.

My wife and I had breakfast here in mid-morning on a Wednesday. The menu was surprisingly extensive with a range from very hearty to lighter fare. My wife has the Santa Fe frittata, which she described as “yummy.” I had the countryside skillet, a scramble with an accompanying pancake. Very hearty and good. Our waiter was properly attentive. We would go there again on another trip to Chicago.

20 minute wait for 2 at 10 am on a Sunday morning. Glad we waited, good solid breakfast. We had a breakfast skillet and an omelette and split a pancake on the side. Food and service excellent. Price was good for a major city. Highly recommend Yolk.

The service was good, but when our food arrived the breakfast potatoes were over well over cooked, the breakfast burrito was bland and inside was like baby mush. Won’t be back.

We were wandering around River North looking for breakfast on Labor Day morning, and were happy to see Yolk open for business. We got there at just the right time, as the rush started right after the 6 of us sat down. Service was a bit slammed, but coffees were always refilled before they were empty, and food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering how busy they were. Food was excellent, with good benedict, crepes, and eggs, and really good cheese grits. Prices were about what we were expecting, with full breakfasts running $10-15. Would highly recommend.

Sausages are meaty. Pancakes are yummy. Omelets are delishable (yeah I made that up) and I try to eat all of it whenever I visit the Chi.

I was missing a good place where to get a good breakfast. I ordered 2 poached eggs with a muffin and like it. I regretted ordering the cheesy grits with the eggs because it has no flavour and didn't know before but wanted to try something different. However my friend who is from the area told me that it was good. The waitress was nice and we didn't have to wait a lot to get our food.

Had breakfast here twice on our weekend trip to Chicago. This location is very close to Navy Pier. The breakfast portions were pretty big and very delicious. Service was great too. There was always a huge line of people waiting but it went by pretty quickly.

Great choice for breakfast! The service was always available-the food tasted delicious and the restaurant was really clean! Hard things to find in downtown Chicago!! Prices are pretty average for Chicago-Eggs-English muffin and hash browns-$8.99 so pretty typical! The specialty pancakes were delicious!!

Whilst eating dinner one night our waiter recommended this as a good place for breakfast. It was a short walk from our hotel so we thought we should definitely check it out. We were seated quickly and on asking our server made some suggestions on what he thought was good. Neither of us was disappointed with our choices, chicken and waffles and the banana french toast, in fact days later I’m still thinking of the French toast. Very fresh and tasty and served very quickly.
Saturday morning breakfast
We went to this location on a Saturday morning and it was busy. There was a wait but it only took about 20 minutes. Look on the website prior to going it'll give you an estimate wait time for each location so you'll know before you head out. Food was very good and filling. You will not go hungry. I didn't know we had them in the Dallas area but I will for sure try and get to one now that I've eaten here.
