My friend just moved down the street, and we’ve been searching for a new go-to local spot within walking distance. Christopher Wedin gave us the absolute best vibe. His passion for this place made...and he makes a great margarita (seriously) and even introduced me to bitters to help with my upset stomach. Quick, intentional, friendly, and totally on point, and fun!!!!! We’re already calling this our new neighborhood spot thanks to him!

We had to wait a bit on the street before being called in and sent up the elevator. This was an early weekday evening, with no one else outside waiting. I thought, wow they must be really busy due to the wait. But how? it was a dead night. ok, whatever. We got in and the place was practically empty. Another club that plays, "let's make them wait so our place feels exclusive and hard to get into". Ugh. Fine - another "whatever"...we go up to the bar. Nice atmosphere, kind of cheesy but great views. This bar has everything. I ask for my favorite lemon drop martini. We all know our favorite drink and how it's made. If it's made wrong it's obvious, right? RIght. It was a knock-off martini - a lemon-flavored drink with vodka in it. Srsly?? I sent it back, said I didn't like it, and changed my order. Nothing said would have improved their martini-making skills. Pick your battles. That's it, we left after that. Not impressed. Would I go back? No.

Isabella was amazing! She was super friendly and provided so many great recommendations for places to visit during my time in Austin (give her a raise!!!). Would recommend Zanzibar to anyone visiting Austin who is looking for a fun rooftop bar.

Dropped into the Zanzibar this last weekend and we were surprised with an amazing experience! The service was on point and it really felt like a getaway! Open air bar on the 7th floor, great atmosphere and the service was outstanding. The drinks all served in customized glasses which made the experience even better... Definitely recommend checking this place out. really enjoyed it

We spent 4 wonderful days at Marriott Austin Downtown - with a stop at Zanzibar each day. Why? STELLA! Stella created an atmosphere that was intuitive and entertaining while anticipated our every desire. Ambiance defines an event - but what sets an event apart is the experience, the interactions. Thank you Stella - it's been a week and my wife is still raving to her friends about you and ZANZIBAR (our gazebo's new name)! Thank you again!!

We have been in Austin for four days and went to Zanzibar all four days for food and drinks. Well on Sunday October 26 we weren’t happy at all with the bar/ lounge manager at all…. Lexi was very rude and thought she was all that , I am handicapped and cannot sit on a lounge chair but she wouldn’t let us borrow a straight chair so I could sit by the pool . When we came into the lounge area she wouldn’t let us bring food in even though we were drinking from the bar . She gave us attitude all afternoon. We stayed at the Marriott for the entire four days and we are also Marriott Vacation Club owners and have never been treated so poorly……. This manager Lexi has absolutely no personality at all . For this reason we will not return to the Zanzibar again 🥲 Very poor manager for this bar .

Ruben was excellent with service and great drink recommendations! He had great attention to detail at the Zanzibar! Great vibe will definitely be back!

Great for drinks before heading out ! We had wings and drinks. Beautiful atmosphere high tops lounge seating. Lowell was super friendly

Decent food. Neat patio. When they ask you for water, be advised that they have three options— flat, sparkling and tap. I figured flat was tap but nope. Scam in a can $4 for a can of water. Oh well. Live and learn. Wings were decent. Chips and salsa were okay. Mind not blown, but also not like I was horribly disappointed either. Reasonably decent. Server was friendly and lovely, but when a place gives you a QR code to review them and offer to have you write a specific review around the server’s name if they are awesome, doesn’t work for me. She did a good job. We got our food and drink. Still a decent place. Maybe other reviewers made me expect more? Not sure

We were visiting from out of town and Zanzibar was recommended to us as a great rooftop bar. It is fairly new and very popular so I would recommend making reservations. We tried to just stop by on Saturday night and they were full. Luckily, we were able to get in on Sunday evening right before sunset and the views were amazing! Michael was our server, he was attentive and had great recommendations on food. The Pina Coladas (on the rocks) tasted fresh, not made with the usual too sweet, premix stuff. Everything was delicious! We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Austin and hopefully stay next door at the beautiful new Marriott.

We had a couple of bad interactions with some restaurants and service while visiting and then we went here. We were quickly seated, our waitress was excellent, and the VIEWS were great. It is such a cute place. The drinks were affordable for the area. HIGHLY recommend!

Zanzibar is a comfy, laid back rooftop terrace with plenty of space for lounging and yummy specialty drinks and food. Hubs and I tried several drinks. Mai Tai was my fave. For food we started with the Pu Pu Platter and found it was very delicious and filling. Our server, Matisse was very welcoming and friendly and gave us great recommendations. Highly recommend for a chill evening with your bestie or group of friends. Reservations are highly suggested as this is a popular spot. Zanzibar doesn't have desserts so we walked a block down to the veranda at Dean's Steakhouse for Tiramisu and Salted Caramel ice cream.

We chose this place for the open air experience and tapas style. It did not disappoint! The food was great! We got pulled pork sliders, poke bowl, and hand rolled sushi. All were delicious! Chris took excellent care of us. He accommodated our tight timeline and did it graciously. A perfect night. Thank you!

Went up here for the ‘experience’. It’s a beautiful walk (10pm) from the elevator to the hostess check-in and the area is wide open and fun. The chairs we had at our table were extremely low to the ground - they just weren’t comfortable, but there are other options that may suit others. We each had a drink - one was a frozen one that came in a fairly small glass and the other came with 50% ice … not much to drink for what you paid.

I love to check out all the rooftop in each country. This is my first time at rooftop bar in Austin. I highly recommend to check out "Zanzibar". Awesome place to hang out with friends. Drinking at reasonable prices at the bar. Food was good. Excellent service!! Thank you " Taylor" for the excellent service and all the friendly staff. We all had a great time at the Bar. I really like all the drinks. It was great. My friend & I will definitely come back again.

I’m fascinated by this city’s new interest in obscurely-marked restaurants, hidden bars, and highfalutin security measures to enter hotel bars. A sense of exclusivity is intriguing, refreshingly fun, and disarming when the staff turns put to be delightful, professional, and warm. Zanzibar concerned me with curbside check-in procedures to the extent that I wondered if I’d underdressed. Once our party had been given the ok to enter the elevator, pretenses fell away and our server’s humor and hospitality relaxed the evening. Though we’d only enjoyed a nightcap, drinks were spot on and the rooftop view of Austin swept us all away. We’ll be back.

Great concept - you really feel like you have been transported to a tropical paradise. Private areas to sit and drink and snack on pu-pus. Drinks are all specialty drinks and are quite expensive. But this is a destination- very nice!

Ruben, was very educated on the menu. We loved him! Next time we are in Austin, will visit and try more of the delicious rum drinks. Until next time.

I saw this place from my hotel window and knew I had to try it. Even if you have a reservation, be prepared to stand in line for a few minutes. Once I made it upstairs, I had a lovely time. The bartenders were very nice, the food was great, and the drinks are delicious. I really enjoyed the Pork Wontons. The atmosphere is great and the views of downtown Austin are amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to escape from the every day bar/restaurant.

This was a great view of Downtown Austin, but I have to be honest, its hot up here during the day. Cool vibe, great for parties. I was there for a conference and they rented the whole rooftop which was pretty cool. The food is not my favorite part, drinks good and the view are definitely appealing

Don't waste your time with the pulled pork sliders. They barely put any meat on them. The "pineapple slaw" consisted of cabbage and one piece of pineapple between all 3 sliders. The atmosphere and music were super cool and the bathrooms were very clean. Those were the only 2 positive aspects of our visit. The server barely checked on us and didn't remember our drinks correctly. I had to go up to the bar and ask for limes because the server couldn't remember. I asked when we ordered the drinks and again when the drinks got delivered. Not once have I had the server come pick up the signed check before the guest was finished with either their food or drinks. It was very rude and unacceptable. I have been a server for many years and I have been told in every serving position this is not acceptable. I rarely write poor reviews because I'm all about flourishing businesses but this experience was very disappointing and I would not recommend.

Stephanie, the AGM and Dawn, the GM took care of me and my group and have us a great memory for our UT graduate. The place is fun and very popular. Reservations are a must. We stayed at the hotel, the valet staff is top notch, the Vine & Loaf is a great place, lobby bar is very live but they need more help. All in all, I would return.

Great location, beautiful bar, but disinterested staff and terrible service. It was half empty, we were seated immediately, given menus, but after 30 minutes we hadn’t been served. When we spoke to the hostess her response was “Oh, okay. Sorry.” No genuine apology, no attempt to rectify, we left.

Stopped by for drinks last night with a friend. The bar has a great vibe. Relaxed and mellow. Wait stuff could not be better. Mai Tais are strong but still very very tasty. Appreciate Jarvis going beyond expectations with hospitality..

Zanzibar is awesome! Starts out as an adventure, from the nice Asian Hostess that greets you at the entrance, the staff that welcomes you as you arrive atop the Marriott, and the bartenders. Superb drinks, and breathtaking views of the city for Austin newcomers. The ambience reminds me of a tropical resort!

Very cool concept for a bar. Three star review because there were seats available but since we didn’t have reservations we had to stay in the bar area. Also, they had an area roped off that was empty that we couldn’t access until 6 o’clock, but again didn’t have reservations, even though there were seats. We were definitely the oldest people there. wondering if that was why we couldn’t get seated. Bartender and host were not helpful when we asked about getting seated.

DONT GET THE BURGER ITS SO GROSS IT TASTES LIKE A MCDONALDS BURGER WITH A PINEAPPLE AND….. CHEESE. What a gross combination! Horrible! Disgusting! My chick fila sandwich that I had for lunch was way better…… but the fact that I’m comparing it to fast food is BAD. Bleh so bad I wish I could throw it up seriously. Drinks are fun, cute, and good. Vibes are great! (Add misters please haha)

We enjoyed the comfortable seating at Zanzibar, along with the amazing city views and the breeze on a perfect fall night in Texas. the drinks were well made and reasonably priced, and the service was attentive and friendly. All in all, this is a great place to wind down after a long day and felt like a mini-vacation in itself.

My friend and I had the most amazing time. Christopher was our server and he couldn’t have done better. Love him so much. It will definitely be a regular at this place.

New spot on the 7th floor of the Marriott downtown Austin. We sat in the lounge area where you can get drinks and food. Then there is a bar area as well. Seats were not overly comfy. Service was good. Prices were fair. Nice views to the north.

Sydney was an amazing server.Me and my boyfriend was visiting from Houston and really enjoyed the atmosphere and service !!! Thanks Again Sydney !

We went here to just have a drink before dinner as the location is beautiful. We were seated in a full sun spot so asked if we could move to a place with a little shade. It was not crowded and there were plenty of open spots. The host barely acknowledged us and used as few words as possible to hand gesture where we could move. The drinks were good and served in super cute drinkware but I am not sure I saw anyone working there smile. Such a thoughtfully laid out restaurant to have wmployeees who weren’t excited about being there.
Fun vibey spot!
The food and drinks were delicious. We had several ranch waters and Lowell took great care of us! 10/10 recommend and would come back!
