We had dinner tonight with our teenage daughter. Our daughter is vegetarian we are vegan. We all had a nice selection of vegetarian and vegan sushi. Everything very tasty! To top it all off the service was excellent!

Meeting up here for a friend's birthday, I honestly haven't always been big on being adventurous enough to really try sushi outside of basic California rolls and a few Chinese restaurants but, I agreed to give it a try and now my opinion of sushi...that's now totally changed! Everyone at our table ordering a different type of sushi along side an order of Tempura veggies and my order of shrimp spring rolls. I also ordered the Brandy and Soy Glazed duck just in case... Every thing was absolutely wonderful. Being my first true experience eating sushi, I will not question eating it going forward and, as for the duck, it was absolutely h-e-a-v-e-n-l-y. I'm going to need to say, likely the best I've ever eaten to date. I loved the entire meal and had a great time with my friends. This is definitely a restaurant for my regular rotation. They are bit on the pricey side per person for the everyday value diner. My portion of the order was around $45 but, it was worth the money for the market price of what you are ordering and the high quality of what is put together that I had. I will not hesitate to pay it again and is definitely a must go to place for sushi (or even the duck for that matter) in Dallas.

My vegan son and his vegetarian mom and girlfriend decided to try this spot since it was highly recommended by the Dallas observer. The atmosphere is so serene and tranquil. They have a separate menu for vegans. We had the protein starch and vegetable plate and we left home with more than half in a to go box. Food is fresh and flavorful. Service was wonderful too.

My go-to roll is the Xalapa Roll- always fresh! Tonight we added the carnitas buns to start, the California Sun roll and a spider roll. All quality dishes, but holy moly- the carnitas buns were heavenly! The Sun roll had a mild sweetness that was a great balance to the spicy zest of the Xalapa. Great to share...

Michelle's (owner) heritage is Japanese and Cajun. This makes for amazing and unusual dishes. She not only serves the best sushi in this part of Dallas, she offers steak and sometimes duck breasts on her menu. If you happen to be there the night she has oysters with a yuzu granita, don't miss it. This may be the best oyster dish I've ever tasted

I dream about the Xalapa roll. Literally. DREAM ABOUT IT. It's so fresh and light and bright. I always get it with soy paper. I want one now...

We were a little concerned because we got to the restaurant around 6:00pm on a Friday and the place was almost empty. Went went ahead based on the great reviews and were not disappointed. The Salmon Nigiri was especially good. Service was excellent. Not the best sushi I've ever had, but very good for the price.

This is a classic location for a wide selection of outstanding sushi. The food is matched by excellent service.

Started with Cajun edamame, then had the Zen Bruschetta, both were fantastic but the flavor explosion from the bruschetta was something unexpected but wonderful. I chose to try only rolls from the "Michelle creations" section of the menu and totally paid off, the star was the Mussels, it was like a beautiful crabcake on a mussel shell-plate. I could have eaten my weight in those. the service was outstanding, very helpful with explanations from sake to what sushi rolls. everyone at the table had a great experience, we will definitely be back.

We've eaten here twice while visiting family in Dallas and this place is the best! Really good, fresh sushi as well as handcrafted cocktails that are inventive but not crazy. We branched out last time from our standard spicy tuna roll etc. to try the xalapa (?) roll on the recommendation of my brother in law and i couldn't believe how good it was. Tuna, avocado, jalapeno (yet not super spicy), cilantro and sliver of lime. A combo I would never have tried without prompting but I'm so glad I did. My teenaged son loved it all as well. Staff are attentive and pleasant, no negatives here. Give it a try, you'll be glad you did!

Fresh fish and creative rolls by Michelle. Xalapa roll is my absolute favorite...tuna with a bite of jalapeno and a sliver of lime on top...you will not resist coming back for more! Great cocktails as well. Lychee martini is delicious.

Nice little place to chill out with friends. Good food with reasonable price. Nice place with nice surroundings

I admit it: I refuse to eat raw meats or seafood. So when my friend invited me to eat here, I was concerned that there would be nothing for me to eat. But this restaurant is awesome! The owner has done a wonderful job of making authentic and fusion Japanese food very accessible. I had the dumplings and the brined pork with marinated pears. There was also a very refreshing cocktail whose description I have forgotten. My fellow diners had the sushi. While, I have an aversion to it, I could not deny that it was beautifully plated, and my friends definitely enjoyed their meal. Zen Sushi is an excellent restaurant. I highly recommend it and will return to it the next time I am in Dallas.

Though reservations were recommended, we popped in for a quick bite. Didn't have but an hour to kill before a planned nearby family occassion The staff was excellent, and seated us immediately at the Sushi Bar. There's a reason they have won so many awards. The best Sushi and service in the Bishop Art District.

We have been here twice and we spotted this place out just recently only because we were to watch a movie at Stonebriar mall and wanted to have a quick bite before that. Never regretted it! We've by far had atleast 6 types of their sushis. Everything is just amazingly delectable. I am not at all fond of adding spicy mayo to any sushi as it just confuses me in flavor. It simply isn't Japanese. Fortunately whatever we had from here had no tinch of spicy mayo. A must try sushi place.

This place has become my favorite sushi place I've ever been. Adrian was a very helpful and friendly server. The sushi was terrific, good wine, fast service, awesome atmosphere, comfortable seating. What else do you want?!

My friend and I had sushi here on a Saturday night. We ordered the California sun, Alaskan, caterpillar, and fox's ear. We thought the rolls would be smaller than they were but they were decent size and we left completely stuffed!! Attentive staff and great sushi!

It's an extensive menu and very fresh. I will visit again for sure.

Sushi choices were not a diverse as the adds stated. Have had fresher sushi in Deep Elum Dallas. Probably will not go there again.

We went for some food and drinks, and I have to say I loved the place. They were actually about to move to an even better location, so I guess they have really high standards! The beer and sake happy hour was cheap and excellent, and the food was delicious! I tried like three plates before accepting I was too full to eat anything else. The bartenders there are the most amazing guys in Dallas! All in all its a great place and I will go again in my next visit to the city.

Many thanks to Michelle and her talented crew for a fabulous dinner. We decided to celebrate a very special birthday at Zen Sushi, bingo! Our dinner choices included, duck breast with soy, brandy and honey glaze. In addition we had octopus, a variety of sushi rolls, salmon and tuna sashimi. Our grand finale included ginger cremebrulee and callebaut chocolate souffle. Wow, what a party. Thanks

We had the food delivered and it was crazy expensive and it was 100% disappointing and well... the food just sucked.

Zen Sushi is what you want in a sushi bar... high quality, fresh fish. The quality here is always good. The specialty rolls are very nice. Bonus: we don't usually think of sushi restaurant and dessert as a thing. Zen has outstanding desserts. We are pretty sure there is no better chocolate souffle in Dallas.

Don't go blow your money at the high end sushi places in dallas. Come down to the bishop arts district and have the best sushi in town. Good prices, great drink selections and of course the best rolls you can order.

My wife and I found this small restaurant by accident. And we had an excellent dinner, and the sevice was just perfect. The white fish sashimi was superb. An excellent place to visit in Dallas.

Look, we're in Dallas. I'm a local. We live about 300 miles from the nearest ocean. Fresh fish can't be the hook. It's the "freshest" fish, generous portions and affordable prices - all with some culinary curveballs in an eclectic setting. Gotta love Bishop Arts. Do a "Michelle's Original Creations" off the menu. We were not let down. A solid 3-for-3. Ask your server for details. Not all are just factory rolled in seaweed and rice. Luckily we asked about the Zen Bruschetta. it was a lightly fried eggplant with a heavenly heap of tuna, basil and other things. So glad we went in expecting our normal, robotic offerings of sushi rolls, and came out with a full appreciation for great cuisine. Tuna Tartare is another gem not in its more redundant presentation of a rice roll, but served with won ton "chips". This was an outstanding meal. Top notch. And the prices were not over the top. We'll be back.

My friend Gregory recommended this restaurant to me. He said that the food is incredible, that the restaurant operates at significant reduced capacity due to COVID-19, and that the owner (Michelle) has worked to avoid staff lay-offs in the midst of the pandemic. So he and I agreed to meet there yesterday at 7PM after he secured the reservation. The staff were friendly and the service was courteous. The real standout was the food quality. We started with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. The chicken was perfectly cooked and well-flavored. The appetizer was a great size for two people to share. Based on reviews on-line, I ordered the California Sun (which everyone raves about). It did not disappoint. It was well-prepared and had a perfect spice level -- *almost* too hot, but actually just right. My friend had the Sake Maki (salmon roll) and Scallop Roll. I sampled one of the two and really enjoyed it. Having had sushi in Japan, I was impressed with the quality here. For dessert we each had the Ginger Creme Brulee. It was perfectly prepared and had a great light ginger taste. The owner, Michelle, also came by our table and chatted with us briefly. Zen is a value for what they charge, given the very high food quality. I will return.

High quality Sushi in a small but cute space. Portion sizes can be a bit small for some eaters (even compared to other Sushi places ) but the overall quality of the food presented is excellent

Don't miss an opportunity to enjoy this amazing culinary experience. You can watch the sushi being made from the freshest ingredients. Amazing service and food! In Bishop Arts where everything is better. Chef and proprietor Michelle Carpenter is amazing!

After eating some of the best sushi back home in Maryland, it is hard for most sushi restaurants to match the high quality we are used to on the East Coast. We stopped by for a light dinner at Zen: a few rolls, a few nigiri pieces, miso soup and edamame. The miso soup was good but it was served lukewarm. The rolls were tasty and the nigiri pieces were just ok. While our waitress was pleasant, we had to wait a long, long time for our short order to be filled. While this place may deserve a 4, I only gave it a 3 mainly because service was so slow. I feel they would benefit to have three sushi chefs rather than two

My husband and I really enjoyed eating here tonight. The sushi was fantastic. The Lychee Sangria was both unique and delicious. This is our newest favorite sushi place in the DFW area. We'll be back!!!

After moving to Texas earlier this year I had not had sushi as I did not know a place to go as of yet. Heading out to get Pho on this warm Sunday evening we got turned away because they were not open yet. We stumbled upon Zen sushi and decided to try it. I have to say this is some of the best sushi and rolls I have ever had. I had yellow tail, tuna and white tuna along with a few rolls. Awesome melt in your mouth fish. Tasty ingredients. Very nice presentation. Awesome service. I have found a new favorite sushi restaurant as of now.

If you have the opportunity to visit Dallas - the trip to the Bishop Arts for sushi at Zen Sushi is worth the drive. The Bishop Arts District is not far from downtown Dallas and is a upcoming little area for dining and shopping. But by far the best - is Zen! If you have the time - call ahead for reserevations for the omasake table with the head chef, Michelle Carpenter. While it is pricier than the ala carte - you can enjoy a truly blissful night of sushi prepared especially for you.

Monday night they had a special offer for rolls on so here we go. Tempura plus 4 rolls. Tempura was very heavy on the batter and the sauce lacked flavour. Same thing with the rolls minimal amount of fish smothered in tons of rice. Maybe a one off since most other people seemed to like it and can't judge their other dishes.

I have really enjoyed the sushi here, both eat in and to go. The service isn’t very good but the sushi makes up for that.

This was our first time here and it was very good. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the staff was amazing. The sushi was great. Highly recommend this place.
Great sushi
I loved this restaurant. Great selection on menu, including lots of vegetarian choice. Everything we ordered was delicious. Nice restaurant with friendly service. Would definitely recommend and will be back.
