Outstanding service with food incredibly prepared; simply amazing!

By Johnny G |

This was a most fabulous dining experience! The ambiance was incredible, the service was above reproach and the food simply scrumptious. This is a must do!

Want to try more menu items!

By Negrilgurl |

Ordered the lobster ravioli. Delicious and tasted good the next day. Tried the pork chops, I believed they were smothered. Great comfort food, especially if you like to eat something heavy on a cold rainy day. Went on a Thursday night and it was very packed.

Good appetizers

By kthorn91 |

We didn't stay too long but we got some of their chicken tenders which were pretty satisfying. Other people in our party got the meatball which was huge and tasty. Someone else got wings and they wing pretty good sized and cooked right. Service was really nice and on the ball with keeping up with our large party.

What a find!

After a long day and a wrong turn I arrived at Zest! What a wonderful meal! I was pleasantly surprised with the food and great service, our server was Miguel! I had chicken and shrimp kebabs absolutely outstanding! If your in the area go!

Went back a second, third, fourth, fifth....

By Jason S |

Went back a second time and the food was even better!! I had their chili sauce bacon wrapped prawns and the flavor is just right! Not spicy not too sweet just flavorful! Try the shrimp stuffed chicken with the buttery sauce and it was an explosion of fresh flavor in your mouth. The service is great, the restaurant is clean, it is kid friendly since they can make smaller portions of pastas, and the deserts are not frozen and tastes great!

Gem worth the trip

By LabrotsEating |

Had a wonderful dinner and was worth the drive from the strip. Our waitress Donna was very friendly and kept offering us samples of their delicious food. Make sure to pick a meal with the potato pie, it's to die for. Ordered the bruschetta for a starter and the Cajun style rib eye. Then finished with a complimentary taste of their delicious cheese cake. Make sure to visit for a meal. Thanks again Donna for your recommendations and your friendly service, we'll make sure to head back on our next visit.

Nice Dinner

By VegasToEssex |

When looking for restaurants near my parents’ house on Tripadvisor, I found Zest. It’s a local, family friendly restaurant - please don’t expect a fancy ambiance. But it’s great that there is no gaming at the bar or smoking. Our server was friendly and professional. He brought us a complimentary portion of the potato pie, which was amazing. My mother and I started with martinis - cucumber for me, raspberry for her. They were just ok. The included Caesar salads were great. My father was not a fan of the clam chowder, but I think he was being fussy. For our mains, we had sliders, the chicken stuffed with shrimp scampi, and the lobster ravioli, accompanied by a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir. The sliders were tasty as expected. My mother and I both liked our chicken and pasta dishes, but they were very rich. Neither of us could finish our dishes. We also greatly enjoyed the complimentary cheesecake we were offered. Overall, we decided that although we would not run back for another meal, we would definitely walk back at a leisurely pace.

Family friendly and high quality dining experience.

Really good menu, good bar, local place that is well managed. Dollar for dollar, the Filet Mignon is the best in Vegas.

Difficult choice

By bex94mat97 |

What a great meal from an unassuming bistro restaurant. Excellent food, well prepared and well presented. The French Pork chops were as tender as a filet steak and the cheesecake was a perfect end to an excellent meal. If you've got a car and don't mind a 20 minute drive from the strip the give this place a try. You'll find it well worth the trip. The service was very attentive and I couldn't fault anything about the meal.

pleasantly surprised

By Linda N |

I was looking for a restaurant on the strip with good food, not a buffet and not costing $100 a person. Off the strip fit the bill. The service was very good, the waiter was friendly and gave us good recommendations- the chicken parmigiano and the ribeye. Portions were huge. We would definitely come back again.

Meat “bowling” balls.

By csrockclimber |

Excellent pasta! But the meatballs were extraordinary! They are gigantic so beware! Loved them so much that ordered one to go also.

Worth the Trip!

By LasVegasDonna |

This is a great little restaurant with great food and wonderful service. Sat at the bar and had dinner, which was pretty busy, but the bartender handled it wonderfully and was super friendly and nice. Food was cooked to perfection and very tasty for a reasonable price. You won't be sorry.

Excellent service, food and quiet away from the expensive restaurants on the Strip.

By Beth G |

We were looking for someplace away from the crowds and expense of the Strip and found this jewel on TA. What a find! Great food, great prices and excellent service. Not much atmosphere but amazingly quaint and quiet! Highly recommended. I had the chicken stuffed with scampi and hubby had lobster ravioli. House salad has excellent homemade balsamic dressing and the NY cheesecake was delightful!!

Another great meal at Off the Strip

By Eshaw_57 |

I always get at least one meal here every time that I come to Vegas(2 or 3 times a year). The food, service, and atmosphere is always incredible. Tom, the owner, and his staff take excellent care of the customers, providing personalized friendly service. The food, as other reviewers have noted, is exceptional. I believe that he told me he was from "little Italy" New York, and the food is as good or better than any I've had from there. There's a more direct road there now off of the freeway, so it took me less than fifteen minutes to get there from mid-strip. You can get half the amount of food for twice the price at the upscale Italian places on the Strip, or you can come here for the real thing. Keep up the good work.

Off the Strip and out of the way

By Stopandeat |

Don't go for the curb appeal, as this is just a strip mall store front. We were in Vegas and read the restaurant reviews so chose this one based on its ranking. Many very strong recommendations. You WILL be greated promptly upon entering by a very friendly (not pretentious) host/owner(?). We were shown a table immediately. The atmosphere is bar-type with tables and very un-assuming. Extremely casual. Our young waitress, Katie, was great. She was vivacious and answered any and all questions with a sincere smile. We had mussels for an appetizer. They came sizzling in the pan they were cooked in. Wonderful. I had the special stuffed chicken breast, my wife the rigotoni. Both were very good and plentiful. Based on the ambiance and location, I cannot give this place 5 stars. We likely will not return soon as there are too many other restaurants in Vegas to try, and Off the Strip did not wow us.

Delicious at reasonable prices.

By Amy A |

First time and we will be back. Read all the good reviews and had to check it out. Reviews were correct! Great service and we felt genuinely welcome. Entrees included a salad with delicious homemade Caesar dressing. I had the lasagna special and am normally very picky. It exceeded my expectations. Large portion so I can enjoy it at work tomorrow :) My husband had the chicken Parmesan and felt the same about his meal. Cheesecake for dessert was good but not the best I've ever had. If you live in southern las Vegas you should definitely try it out. I can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

Best food in town

By TinkyHolloway |

(This review refers to the new location by the Highroller). We came for CES and had been suffering an endless stream of oversized deep-fried food for the week. Today we discovered this restaurant. The food is spectacular and a refreshing change from ubiquitous fast food. Great service, great food.

Best and last place we ate at while in Vegas

By alythia101 |

Owner came and greated us personally. Fast service, friendly people, excellent food! So happy we stopped by here! All three of us loved our food. Only wish I had a larger stomach so I could finish it all!

This place and it's people redeemed my overall okay experience in Vegas.

By Whitney_hey |

Went there on our last night in Vegas and it wasn't just the amazing food that made the drive worth it. There was such a friendly atmosphere and I will be sure to tell all my friends to try it out if they're ever in Vegas. And I will definitely go back if I ever have the chance.

jekyll & Hyde

By alf1052 |

Had a horrible experience. My 5th time back and waitress snide. Worse, the food was bad. Linguini in white clam sauce had chopped clams from a can. The sausage was overcooked. Neither boss was there on a Sunday. They will not see me again.

A gem

By USAFAMOMFL |

We wanted to have dinner off the strip and this restaurant fit the bill. An interesting menu and everyone loved their entree. The white wine Sangria was a real treat! We highly recommend it.

Fantastic Appetizers!

By Rottman |

Went here on a Wednesday nite for a family dinner. Has a sports bar theme with several TV's. Had a couple of their appetizers which were really tasty but kind of pricey at $12 and $13 each. The Thai prawns were large and delicious but I think we only got two. The bacon chicken bites were very good also but again you only got three. The server brought a little plate of bread and said he would bring more since it was in the oven. A while later he brought a small loaf of hot bread. I had their Wednesday Lasagna special. It was very very good and huge at $18. The grandson had spaghetti marinara with the largest meatball I've ever seen. It had to be at least 3" in diameter. The food and service were exceptional although I thought it was a little pricey. I would go back.

Great meal

By 230JohnR230 |

We always make the effort to make the trek out to Southern Highlands to dine at Off the Strip when we are in Las Vegas. We went for our 42nd anniversary and started with the rolled New York, our favorite appetizer anywhere. My wife had a delicious filet and I had a pasta dish. The food was well-prepared and delicious as always. While the service was good, we did not get the warm, personal attention we are accustomed to, but it was still a great experience and we will be back.

Only Good Things!

By Tammie B |

We go to Zest every time we're in Vegas. This time we went twice, it's just that good. I got the chicken stuffed with shrimp scampi and my husband got the lasagna - you really can't go wrong with either of those dishes, both are excellent. And the cheesecake is a must, if you aren't too full because the portions are generous. Our waitress, Stephanie, was so friendly we made sure we got her for the second visit also.

Average place in an area where there are not many restaurants

By Yvonne M |

This place used to be great. They renamed it and cut corners. Seating is too crowded and VERY uncomfortable. You feel rushed. Special of the day is ALWAYS over cooked. Not many options in this area so we drive to find better restaurants.

nice place for our family reunion dinner

By Bill W |

The service for our party of 16 was great, very solicitous. The food was uniformly fine and the setting unpretentious and welcoming.

Always the best

By kbroomie |

We travel to Las Vegas from Ohio at least twice a year and we always have dinner at Zest (formally Off the Strip). We love it! Mainly Italian food with a fresh spin. The staff is great especially Stephanie. It is located in the Southern Highlands and is about 15/20 minutes from the strip. Worth the trip. And don't forget the cheesecake

Best Kept Secret

By JoAnna K |

Large portions, service great. Everything is made fresh. This is a must for all locals in Anthem and Southern Highlands area. Be sure to make reservations. The pasta and scallops is a fabulous dish

Was great but...

By chinobob |

WE love this place. Even after they went thru they're ownership issues and changed the name to Zest. They maintained good, consistent quality of food and drinks. But...lately, over the last several times we've gone, it seems different? Food slightly different and that local atmosphere seems to have gone away a bit? I hope they don't forget where they came from as they were awesome!

Great NY Cheesecake

By IronMerMayden |

We live in Vegas, this was the first time going to Off the Strip. Great little place. Nice friendly and helpful staff. We started off with the asparagus and artichoke appetizer. I had the Penne Pesto Salmon which was rich and yummy. The more I ate it, the better and better it got. Real good! My hubby had the scampi stuffed chicken over spaghetti. He loved that. We also had their in house NY cheesecake. Just how I like my cheesecake. Fabulous! There were more items on the menu I need to go back and try.

Best Italian in Vegas!

By Dennis I |

Zest formerly Off The Strip continues to Dazzle! My go to place every time I'm in Vegas worth the trip. Had Shrimp Scampi with Pasta and still the best Caesar salad Ive ever had any where. Homemade cheesecake for desert is a must have Sinful ending to a perfect meal. Still the friendliest staff and ownership in Vegas. Thank you for 3 years of wonderful dining!

Delicious

By Connie S |

The food here is amazing! Had the New York strip wrapped asparagus for an appetizer. It was the perfect combination of flavors. Went with our server Nicole's recommendations for dinner and we weren't disappointed. We will definitely visit again!

Delightful Discovery

By Peter L |

New to neighborhood and happened to see restaurant while grocery shopping. We've become regulars. . .we love the atmosphere. . .menu selection is broad. . .quality & portions are excellent. . .owner & his daughter are involved & care. . .price is reasonable. Highly recommend.

Excellent local restaurant with no frills.

By David S |

OK when we arrived we thought twice because it really did not look like an Italian restaurant, more like a sports bar with huge TV's everywhere showing games. A real locals place. To the real issue the food, This was excellent from start to finish. We are from Wales where there are more Sheep than people but this was the best lamb chops I've ever eaten. Cooked to perfection and must have been marinaded as it was like a Filet Steak. Vegetables were great also and cooked to perfection and unusually included Brussell Sprouts not something you often encounter in the USA. Wine was excellent. Service was good and a totally enjoyable meal compared to the rip off the previous evening "on the strip". We would recommend highly.

A great neighborhood gem

By dodback |

Off the strip is hidden in a small shopping center/strip mall in southern highlands. It has a cozy ambiance and food that never disappoints. Living in Vegas it is easy to go to a different every night of the week and never ever return to the same place. I lean towards trying new places unless I am particularly impressed. Off the Strip has earned my love and respect and we dine here on average once/month. EVERY dish I've tried is excellent and if you like cheesecake, I dare you to fine one better than chef Al's. My only regret in sharing this review is the risk I take in sharing one of my favorite spots and making it more popular/busy. Worth the trip from anywhere in the valley, but if you live I the southwest and have yet to try Off the Strip, what are you waiting for?? PS... Not as impressed with the food or the service at the location at the Linq.

Found this place off the beaten path and loved it!

By KENFICHTNER |

Great atmosphere, superb service, and out of this world food. We will be back again on our next trip to Las Vegas

you can't go back

By anubis10 |

Went on a Sunday. Bad news from the go. Ignored for a whiled then seated. Ordered Lin guini in White clam sauce. No clams, hard to believe no clams. Sausage wasgood but not great like it was. Vibes bad. No way the prices are $$. They are $$$ minimum. Still it was a value, what isn't com pared to Vegas, and worth the ride. Not so anymore. Neither owner was there and I believe their hubris wkill get them in the end.

A great Italian Restaurant in Las Vegas

By DoughertySean |

Zest is the best Italian restaurant in Las Vegas for the money. Great food, great service. We are particular fans of the lasagne, the sausages and linguini and clam sauce but really everything is good. I'd give them a demerit for taking pizza off the menu a few years ago but really, you can't go wrong there. The atmospher is unassuming but the food is elite.

Good, but nothing special

By Michael1964 |

Good, but certainly not great. I feel the menu is a bit pricey, considering the atmosphere, and food quality. Did I like it? Yes. Would I go back or recommend, probably not. Service was excellent. Just nothing special, and higher prices not justified in my opinion.

Great Restaurant, Great Food, Great Service!!!

The Restaurant: Though we stayed on the Strip, we made it a point to drive out to eat at this restaurant after reading several good reviews. It was not difficult to find using our GPS. We arrived there close to 9:30pm and they were closing at around 10pm, I believe. Despite that, we were given a very warm welcome by a blond lady (sorry, I forgot her name). The restaurant was quite dark on the inside. Other than that, all's good. The Food: Healthy portions at very reasonable prices is how I would sum it up. I ordered pasta with clams (there were more clams than pasta!). My son ordered a hearty vegetable soup bowl. My husband ordered a steak off the menu (sizeable portion). All main courses came with a salad, and I must say it was the best caesar salad I had in my life. Overall, I give a 9/10 for the food! BTW, there is free refill on our drinks. The Service: The blond lady made our visit special from the very minute we set foot through the door. She was exceptionally helpful and friendly. At the end of our meal, she even gave us two pieces of home-made cheese cake to go. We didn't want any dessert as we were already so full but she insisted. It's definitely worth the visit!

If you're looking for great food 'Off The Strip' look no further than here.

By Roberts69 |

Being in Las Vegas for a huge trade show ("CES") I wanted to get away from the busy and over booked Strip restaurants and so looked for an alternative and found "Off The Strip" on Southern Highlands Pkwy. Having a rental car so it was no problem for me to get there form my Strip hotel. I received a warm welcome on arrival and opted for a table rather than a seat at the bar. The restaurant has good low ambient lighting but the industrial unit type building and high ceilings made it less cosy and intimate than it maybe could be if in a different location. That said it was still fine and I liked the fact you could see into the open kitchen from where I was sitting. My server, Stephanie, was just great and was in good spirits as it was her Birthday and she was getting the attention she deserved. The menu has a great selection and there were many things I fancied on it. In the end I opted for the "Sweet Chili & Bacon Wrapped Prawns" (at US$12.00) and they did not disappoint, they were delicious. For my main I had the "NZ Lamb Chops" (at US$36.00) with cheese pie (mash), gravy and broccoli as my sides. You get 3 chops and they were again delicious. In addition you get a side salad as well, I had a Caesar and it was pretty good. I would of love to have tried the homemade NY Cheesecake for desert but I was simply too full... Maybe next time. With a total bill including just Diet Coke to drink of US$56.21 (with Tax) it is not the cheapest place to eat and you could even has 'On The Strip' prices, however I enjoyed my meal a great deal and so I would certainly come back again if wanting to dine 'Off The Strip'!! They also do carry out I believe.

Excellent Hangout

By jackbD8786LQ |

this is another Vegas jewel. Great place for tasty appetizers and outstanding drinks. don't miss the wings and Bloody Mary's. great late night hangout.

Another Delicious Meal!

By guestAZ |

Dining at this restaurant is a must during our annual visit to Las Vegas. We've never had even an average meal -- the food and service have always been top-notch. My wife loves the French Chops while I can't get away from the Gnocchi Ragu or Tortellini Ragu. This time our server was Jesse -- the best we've ever had -- we left him an extra large tip and hope that management gives him a raise!

ארוחת ערב משפחה

By _G9501WU |

A restaurant that is hidden in a commercial center far from the center. Excellent, tasty, huge dishes prepared on the spot and coming out of the kitchen, which is open in excellent order. The place is polished and clean. Sympathetic and good service. Reasonable prices. Good atmosphere. If we are here again, there is no doubt that we will return to eat here.

Zest or Off the Strip

By Wayne P |

This is where all the "in the know" locals dine, and for good reason. The menu is diverse, the wine selection decent, although limited, and the bar staff know how to make great cocktails. One of the best Old Fashioned I've tasted in the west. The food was delicious, and reasonably priced (for Las Vegas). It's definitely worth the short drive from the downtown area!

Great food and atmosphere!

By AD702 |

Had dinner here with some family friends last weekend. The drinks were good, not the best we've ever had but still good! However, the food was to die for! We got a few appetizers: truffle fries, new york roll, and bacon wrapped prawns. All were delicious, especially the prawns! My dinner was great too, the chicken and artichokes. They also gave us a few slices of cheesecake for being first timers which was a nice touch! Would give 5 stars if the server wasn't so scrambled.

What a find!

By AltGol |

In planning this Vegas trip, I was looking for a place with Italian food that was away from the main tourist track. "Off the Strip" turned out to be a remarkable find. The place is far from fancy--the strip mall location and "eclectic furnishings" may give you pause, but go for it! My wife and I were greeted by Rita, a super personable woman with a huge smile. We followed her recommendations in ordering and were really impressed. The service was great all the way. The cooking at this place is really top drawer and the portions are more than generous. This is really a quality eating experience. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Vegas.

Recommended by a friend and they were right!

By JaynDC |

We stopped here for dinner after driving through Red Rock Canyon. Very friendly staff, HUGE menu with options for everyone. Our meals were delicious, and so large that we took half of them home in doggy bags for a snack the next day. Very good value, especially compared to dining options closer to the casinos.

Great taste Big portions

By renee d |

We went close to closing time. They still accommodated us. The food tasted great. the server was friendly. Ordered the rib appetizer and we could have stopped there. The food has great flavor. It is very dark in the room. The chefs are in an open kitchen and they cook everything to order. It's comparably priced to what I would pay at Red Lobster. Some meals a little more some a little less. I would definitely go back!. It was well worth it and we all had leftovers the next day to enjoy. They have great variety and all four of us were able to enjoy something different. It is in a big strip mall area with lots of stores around Very nice location.

A great meal

By BobCNewJerseyUSA |

We first went to off the strip perhaps 6 years ago when it first appeared on Trip advisor. The meals have always been hearty and more importantly really good. The pesto with salmon was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant

Best in Las Vegas

By rrp1720 |

I have been to numerous restaurants in Las Vegas and this #1. Food and service were outstanding. I will be back on my next visit and will bring friends.

Best Food

By Barbie G |

Highly recommend this place. You have to try the Ribeye and Salmon and the giant meatball! We give it a thousand thumbs up 👍

Go out of your way to find this out of the way place

By 49skeeter49 |

We were looking for a simple dinner and found our way here based upon prior good reviews. Tucked into one of the cookie cutter shopping centers among the sprawl of Las Vegas, you find yourself in a very unassuming seating area. Simple furnishings and tables, there was nothing simple about the dinner. Excellent, prompt and courteous service from the start, led me to a wonderful Chicken Saltimboca dish, rich in flavor and generous in size. Always tough to judge Italian dishes because they are all prepared in a somewhat standard way, but this was really good. My family members thoroughly enjoyed their dishes as well, and we were also given a complimentary dessert, that was yummy. If you like Italian, and are in the area, this is a great choice.

Consistently excellent!

By Brian L |

Off the Strip provides consistently excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Their bartender, Donna, hustles like crazy and provides exceptionally friendly and superb service; she makes you feel like a member of the family! You can never go wrong with Off the Strip's White Clam Linguine, Homemade Meatball or Sausage and, when they have it, their Spaghetti Squash is terrific. I've dined at Off the Strip nearly a dozen times and I've yet to be disappointed. Oh, and at my request, they directed insults throughout the dinner at my co-worker Shrek. Just priceless! I highly recommend Off the Strip for an outstanding dinner and enjoyable atmosphere.

Worth the drive.

By mrheat101 |

We were looking for a new restaurant to try with a varied menu and we found it here. They have pasta, steaks, chops, chicken and even gluten free. The atmosphere is very casual and unassuming. If I wanted fancy, I would have gone to the Strip and paid an extra $100.00 to look at the pretty curtains. Service was excellent, food was excellent and portion sizes were large enough to bring home leftovers. If I had one bad thing to say was that an appetizer they call Rolled New York is disappointing. For $13.00 one would expect more than two asparagus spears with a thin piece of steak rolled around them with a little sauce. This should have been a $6.00 starter. It was ok though because the rest of the prices were excellent. We drove 20 miles across the Valley to get here, we will be back.

Absolutely outstanding!

By marybdvm |

Great service, good and ambiance. We had the asparagus wrapped in bacon as an appetizer beef stroganoff and pork chops for entrees and cheese cake for dessert. All delicious and I would happily order them again except I want to try other things on the menu.

Really good food

By lisa9962 |

About 15 min drive from the strip but worth the drive. Great variety of food - salads, pasta, sandwiches, entrees (fish, steak, etc). Something for everyone. I had chicken kabobs which were great - cooked perfectly with veggies between the poultry. Meatball is awesome - served on penne. Daughter had the filet steak on wheat pasta. Several other healthy meal choices. Highly recommend! The only negative is the atmosphere (not much of it) and the 3 sets of doors that open into the restaurant. We were freezing when anyone opened the door.

Hidden Gem

By Marrissa M |

The atmosphere is very cozy. We had the lightly fried shrimp and the bacon wrapped prawns for appetizers with a couple drinks. They were both so good that we ordered each one for a second round!

Don't let the strip mall fool you - great food!

By Ligaya M |

We were renting a house in Southern Highlands over spring break and read the great reviews of Off the Strip. We weren't disappointed! The service was friendly and attentive and the food was fantastic. We were happy to enjoy 30% off our wine during Happy Hour and the kebobs, chicken saltimbocca, eggplant parmesan and spaghetti with a giant meatball were all hits! The server heard we were going to see "O" at the Bellagio to celebrate two birthdays and brought us a complimentary slice of their home-made cheesecake. We were stuffed, but couldn't resist! We would definitely go back and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a great, reasonably-price meal off the strip.

Great food! Reasonably priced.

By lgilchrist |

The service and food was amazing especially the truffle mac n cheese. Very nice ambiance as well. All The plays we sampled were amazing.

Disappointing

By Grace A |

We had high expectations coming to this place as we heard others rave so maybe we set the expectation too high.... We really really wanted to love this restaurant. Anyway, we had limited time as we had a show to attend & weren't super hungry so I asked for various suggestions from our server between several choices including entrees & pastas. Maybe she was convinced I was barely going to eat anything... Well, she raved about the New York Roll appetizer which is supposed to be wrapped with asparagus. It came out very tiny & thin & overcooked & when I went to bite it, I could not as inside was not asparagus but long stringy onion instead that would not break. There was so little to the dish & very little flavor & not as described. Perhaps it's better with asparagus & a lot more beef to wrap around... Too late to get something else & I didn't want to pour cold water on her since she really loves this dish but I did point out the difference of green onions vs asparagus which she said yes, they changed the recipe. Just like that. Wished she told me while describing it (didn't mention this change at all). So, I was left very unsatisfied, eating lots of bread. My husband had salmon $24 & it was pretty good, not spectacular, but ok. We were not sure we went to the right place.... But after double checking, it was. Maybe we just had an off experience there.

Very pleasant Italian dinner in the Southern Highlands area of Las Vegas

By Anthony S |

We had a very pleasant Italian dinner at Zest. The food is excellent and I had one of the best lasagnas I've ever had and I order lasagna a lot. The menu is extensive. The prices are fair. The décor is only OK. It could do with upgrading. It has a huge sports bar. The wait staff were charming and professional. The owner Billy is extremely charming and friendly. The location is in the Southern Highlands district of Las Vegas, around 10 miles south of the Strip

Great Food, great atmosphere, great staff.

By Stephen B |

Absolutely the best local Italian eatery in Vegas. Treated like we were family. Staff was amazing and the food was to die for. The Cheesecake is one of the best I've had. Definitely want to pay these people a visit.

Compliments to the chef!

By Judith J J |

My friends read about this place in a local magazine, and chose it to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Upon entering, the place seemed to common for a celebration, which was my treat. The noise level was a bit high, with close tables and nothing in the environment to absorb sound. Once the food was served, it was clear that the rave food reviews were more than justified. Since we are always looking for a new experience, we were more than delighted.

I tried to like this place

By Genece M |

It is a dark place with a pizza area, bar and causal dinning. Food was average. I did not like the pizza. The staff are nice, but not enough for me to want to return.

A hidden gem

By Mr. B |

Once in awhile you stumble upon the type of place that reminds you of the joy of dinning out. A place where you are treated like a valued customer and they want to earn your business. Well this is that place, great service, amazing food and an unassuming atmosphere. Do yourself a favor and don't pass this place over.

Best food in Vegas!!!!!!!

By Nikki-scooter |

Hands down the best place to eat in Las Vegas!!! Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere and awesome service... U can always find Billy or Tommy the owners there interacting with costumers like family:) I love this place!!!!

A local's delight!

By VegasKen1 |

I live in the Southern Highlands area of Las Vegas. On Southern Highlands Parkway is a small local restaurant called "Off the Strip". It is delightful, and I go there often, because the food is wonderful, the service is efficient and friendly. The other night my wife and I had the chicken Piccata and each took 1/2 of the plate home because the serving was huge...and very tasty. However, most tourists wouldn't drive the 20 minutes from the Strip to get out here. Now...they don't have to because "Off the Strip" has opened a 2nd location ON the strip, at the Linq. I have not eaten there, because the original location is so close to home. However, I would hazard a guess that the quality of food and atmosphere will be the same at the new location.

Good comfort food

By Rojomillar |

small and a bit noisy restaurant off the beaten path in Las VEGAS. but the meatloaf and smashed potatoes were a super value. The pasta was good with fresh ingredients. The service was attentive and timely. All in all good value for your money, but nothing special.

Great food and service!

By Amber C |

Delicious food and outstanding service. A good atmosphere and break from the strip! Large portions. Highly recommend, can't wait to go back!

good food music too loud for large groups dining in.

We had a group of 13 to celebrate after my brother got married. we enjoyed the bread and most of the food was awesome. my filet mignon was too tough so I was disappointed and the music was so loud you could barely talk to the person next to you . it is not for large groups but great if you have just a couple of people and want to enjoy the good food.

Excellent

By sadiegravy |

My coworker recommended Zest. She had just been there the day before. It was our first time there. I had the lobster ravioli which was excellent and a large portion. My husband had chicken parmesan with spaghetti. Both came with choice of salads, we both had ceaser and the dressing was very good. Homemade. You could taste the anchovy and garlic but not overwhelming. They also brought bread warm out of the oven and butter. We love butter better than olive oil some places do. A hidden gem. Zach our waiter was attentive and personable. Too full for treats. C ant wait to return again.

On vacation

By denging |

A very hidden treasure. Went there and thought was just a pizza joint, but boy were we wrong. Awesome staff, excellent food, and left with the idea we are going back again before we return home. Just be careful of taking a cab from downtown, they will take you out of the way.

Off The Strip - But Worth The Drive

By Bill M |

Our meal here was fabulous. It was our first visit and trusted the high ranking on TA. We were not disappointed. We started with an appetizer of Mussels Oreganata. That's mussels in garlic butter and dusted with seasoned Panko crumbs and baked in a beuŕre sauce that was so delicious, I had to eat all the sauce with a spoon. My wife ordered the salmon grilled in rosemary pimento butter with sautéed spinach with garlic. She absolutely loved it. I ordered the Orange Roughy Francaise which was pan fried with white wine, lemon and shallots served over thin spaghetti. It was superb and cooked perfectly. We were going to split a cheese cake for dessert; but, before we could order it, they brought a complimentary slice for our anniversary. It is made in house and was excellent. This is a small restaurant in a strip mall; so, you may want to consider making a reservation. They have a large menu that covers just about any type of protein you may want. The wine list is good with most of the choices in the $25 - $35 range. Wine by the glass was about $8. They do have a full bar. The service is friendly, quick and attentive. They were constantly filling our water glasses and quick to remove used dishes. I really appreciate that kind of service. We will definitely be coming back here when we are in Las Vegas.

Omg!! You have to come here!!!!!!!!!!!

By Danielle H |

I LOVE this place!!!!! Waiter was amazing, food was amazing … even the song choices were amazing! Make sure you get a Caesar salad for your side!!!! It’s the best one I’ve ever had!! Also!! The martinis! I love a good dirty martini and this one did not disappoint!

Linguini and clams

By Sac722 |

I sat a the bar... ordered the linguini and clams. I was not really content with the dish. Pasta was a bit over cooked and it tasted salty. It was a plate of equal ration of garlic to clams. Lol... I’m not exaggerating. I was hungry and ate half the dish. Didn’t send it back because it is what it is. Now, I’ve had other dishes here and were good. This one though, I’d stay away from IMO.

Somewhere between average & good

By rjclem |

As with some of the previous reviewers, we went here hoping for some good food. The location is different, but shouldn't worry anyone. The sound level does make it difficult for conversing. I went with a group of four and two plates were good and two poor. The wait staff were very nice and helpful, and the vibe here is good, just the food was a little off. I'd try again for a solid verdict.

Nice find

By kss695 |

Zest is an interesting combination of neighborhood sports bar and Italian bistro. Service was friendly and prompt. Menu is diverse and interesting. We just had a dinner of appetizers, including the short rib ravioli special. All the items were excellent! We travel to Vegas frequently and like finding places that are less tourist oriented away from the strip. This place is worth finding!

Mr DA

By mealticket1 |

I regularly dine at Zest bistro. It has THE BEST chicken Parmesan of all the places in Las Vegas. I love Italian and have been to many Italian restaurants around town. Meatloaf lovers will be very pleased as will the prime rib Philly lovers. Quit messing around and go get some good eats there.

Simple but tasty

By nadia_pleasanton |

It was just as good as we remembered it from our last trip 3 years ago. We wanted to try different things so instead of main dishes we ordered 4 appetizers – rolled New York, sweet chili and bacon prawns, fried calamari and mussels Oreganata. There was more food that we could eat. My husband loved everything; I found mussels somewhat boring. Our total bill w/ 2 beers and a glass of wine was very reasonable.

Off the Charts!

By NJoisygirl |

I normally do not review restaurants, usually I am a bit disappointed with something about the food... BUT... this place is the exception for me... I love this place! A visit to Las Vegas is not complete without eating here! *The staff is above and beyond... Pauly remembered us from a previous trip! Stephanie was attentive and entertaining. * The food is nothing less than incredible! We strive to order something new every time we go there and I don't think either myself, nor my husband has ever been disappointed. Do not let the fact this place is in a strip mall give you a moment's pause... it is an incredibly-delicious place!!! We will be back!

Attention to details

By n39051 |

Service is great. Food needs more attention. Wife's salmon was ok, while my stuffed chicken was not as flavorful and my pasta needed two more minutes of boiling. Also, the setting was a little confusing. Music was for a restaurant; but, flat screens gave it a sports bar feel.

Thumbs up to OTS

By Glorya L |

The menu includes sandwiches, burgers and seafood. Our party of four were very content with our orders. The outdoor seating was perfect for watching the Vegas scenery and enjoying a cold drink. Typical or prices, here

Best steak in the last years!!

By Jimmy W |

We found this steakhouse on tripadvisor, we didn't want to go to a Restaurant in the center of Las Vegas, where plenty locations are overrated. When we came to Off the strip we were kindly welcomed by the owner. Our waiter was also very kind and recommended some great sides to our steak. The only thing I have to say about my steak is: I didn't need a knife! It was delicious, the best steak in the last years! And also the sides were great, we had a potato pie and zucchini, we were very happy about that, after all the French fries you get in every location. If I ever come back to Vegas I will go to eat another steak here :-)

Fabulous!!

By Egolfer |

The food & service was fabulous!! The Chicken Parmesan & cheese cake was terrific! Can't wait to go back! This place is worth trying out!

Decent food and friendly service but a little pricey

By RichandBarbara |

My family was seeing the Mat Franco magic show at the Linq, so we wanted to eat in hotel because it was convenient. We decided on Off the Strip based on the Yelp reviews and the menu choices which suited everyone in our party. We had the Beef Stroganoff, Penne with Pesto and Salmon, the Rib Eye and the Garden Salad. The portions looked big, so we decided to share it among 4 of us (all adults). All of it was good - the Stroganoff and RIb Eye were both good, and the Penne was just OK. While the RIb Eye was good, at $46 for the meal, it was a little pricey. If you are planning to go there and don't mind eating very early or very late, they have the Rib Eye on special for 20 before 5 PM or after Midnight. Altogether with a beer for each of us and tip it cost about $160 for the meal - considering that we only had 3 entrees, $40 a person seems like a bit much.

Good but a little expensive for what you get

By Lizrome23 |

Good food, nice place off the strip towards the linq. Had the fish with mashed potatoes and vegetables ($23 a plate) Good was good quality and very filling, just a little expensive. Not a high end restaurant by any means. Nothing that really stood out to me, think there are probably better places to eat but we were seated right away so that was a plus.

Good price for vegas

By JaneRCanvey |

Good price for Vegas. Close to flamingo and excellent food. Best caeser salad my daughter ever had. Would also recommend the garbage. Sounds awful but is basically a salad with lots mixed in. It was wonderful. Service good and friendly too.

Highly recommend!!

By B-radLV |

Really enjoy coming here. The food is consistently very good, as is the service. The eggplant parmesan should be considered a signature dish and well worth trying. When we asked why the lasagna (another signature dish) was only available as a special on Wednesdays, our server apologized that it was not available the night we were there, but introduced us to their "secret menu" whereby they would be happy to make a baked rigatoni bolognese with nearly the same ingredients. Almost as good and a good alternative to their awesome lasagna. We had a large party this time, but the service was outstanding! What more could you ask for? Highly recommend!!

Italian done Right

By Golfgma |

Take a trip off the strip to find this gem. You'll be glad you did. Watch them prepare your food in the open kitchen. Fresh ingredients skillfully seasoned and prepared. Great flavors to satisfy you taste buds. You can pay twice the price elsewhere in Vegas for food like this.

Why go to the strip when you can go "Off the strip"

By tone72014 |

Went to the Southern Highlands restaurant after reading about it for a while. It is located in a strip mall so the atmosphere is not what it would be in a stand alone place and too many TVs to be considered fine dining while the food rates it! My wife's comment upon walking up to it on Valentines was: "I hope this isn't a sports bar" added to my fears when we walked up and first thing I noticed was televisions, ugh. Even though the restaurant was VERY busy, and I am assuming more busy than typical for a Saturday night food was prepared nicely. Several customers around us commented on service being a little slow, but as I wrote, it was VERY busy so taking that into account we were not overly disappointed in the wait. Servers were very gracious and not seeming to be ignoring anyone, kudos to them. One of the things I liked is some old school menu items: Like Beef Wellington! Which, by the way is what I had. Many couples including us were dressed, I think hoping for something a little more romantic and formal, which for us was nice to see, too many people go out dressed like they are going to the beach instead of dinner

Not what I expected but worth the trip and RT taxi fare

By scubasam |

First and foremost Rita added to our experience from the time I called for reservations, to our taxi getting lost and having her give us directions it was worth getting off the strip for a great meal with fantastic-friendly service. For some reason I thought the place was going to be fancy not casual and relaxing boy was I wrong.... Food was great - Chicken Wing Appetizer excellent - large portion. RITA suggested their pork chop special which was very good. If they know you are a first time visitor you get a treat at the end complimentary. This "KID" from NY doesn't eat Cheese Cake but my spouse & I even though we were full enjoyed their Chef Al’s own New York-style cheesecake. Made for you by hand daily, plated with a strawberry reduction or chocolate and a caramel drizzle was that good!

Real good food

By PC Foodie |

A bit off the strip (as the name suggests). Real good food and good portions. Service was great. Sports bar atmosphere - no on tap beer but good bottle selection. We had 4 adults and 1 kid - everyone liked their entrees. Filled up quick but quiet by 10pm. Seems to have a good locals following.

Mom's Night Off

By Robbie M |

Off the Strip has great food at a reasonable price. We usually get a couple of entrees and share between several of us. I particularly like their meatloaf and we often asked them to prepare Chicken Marsala for us, even though it isn't on the menu. They have expanded their restaurant and now have a bar. The staff is friendly and make Off the Strip a welcome place to enjoy dinner.

Nice!

By Shawn9032 |

Stopped in here several times during my stay on Vegas. Good drinks and good view. You get a good view of The Linq from the bar. Highly recommend this place

Excellent experience

By nshoreslimguy |

After reading a lot of reviews of Italian restaurants in LV, I decided on this place. I was not disappointed. Industrial decor rules here. Kind of a cold feel but that is okay with me. The food and service were outstanding. I will be back on the next trip.

Local Gem

By graberh51 |

Great menu, service and food - there were 4 of us - we all enjoyed our meals and said we would return

food average ambiance none very noisy, wait for food 1 hr

By Karin H |

After reading reviews about this place I wanted to eat there; I am not a food critic, but used to eating good food that said the food was average with average price. This place is a bar and very very laud one has to yell to be heard, the food is fresh so a wait of 1 hour is common. The good part was our server she was very good polite and she brought us a piece off cheese cake which was free and very good.

Glad we tried again

By Pat M |

Had been in this restaurant once before, and honestly, the waitress at the time was more interested in talking to people she knew than waiting on us- we ended up leaving before we ever place an order. With all of the positive reviews and word of mouth in the community, we decided to try it again, and are really glad that we did. Manager was marvelous. She seated us, and then got to know us a little. She found out we were still fairly new to the area, and she wanted to make sure we had a great dining experience and that we would come back. She brought out samples of a couple of their dishes that she recommended or wanted us to try, including the clam chowder and the potato pie, as well as the house made salad dressings. Everything was very good! Went on to order, the wife got the Horseradish encrusted salmon and I got the Chicken Parm sandwich. Both were very good (wife absolutely loved hers), but the best part of the meal was the service. We finished it all off with a homemade slice of Cheesecake. It was fabulous! Will definitely be back & highly recommend after this experience.

Casual atmosphere, fun servers, short drive, GREAT FOOD!

By Jon W |

Ate here two nights in a row....choose Michelle as your server if she's available...and, ask her for guidance on your food options...she's fun, she's cool and she won't steer you wrong! First night was a near perfect experience...great food, great service...an A+ experience...second night we had great food but service was very slow and not nearly as personable. If we had been on any kind of timeline the second night, the experience would have been frustrating...thankfully, we weren't. We'll definitely return.

Great place to eat for business

By RodFeurtado |

Had a business dinner, been there a few times, the food is always good, the Italian dishes and the Thai butterfly shrimp is always good. Great selection of wines. Definitely I recommend this place. The beef Wellington is really good and the rib appetizer is a meal on its own. This is an award winning restaurant.

Great food, wonderful service

By Paul C |

Our party of 5 ate at Off the Strip on New Year's Eve this year and all of us had phenomenal meals. Off the Strip has never failed to deliver an amazing meal in all the times we've eaten here, and we've been coming since they opened. Some of our party had special dietary needs and Billy, the proprietor, didn't hesitate to deviate from his New Year's Eve fixed menu to deliver anything we desired. The service at Off the Strip has always been 5 Star, and that level of excellence was certainly on display this New Years Eve. The service and attention paid to guests without a doubt sets Off the Strip apart.

best food in vegas

By James M |

The food is fantastic. The chicken parm was the largest, juiciest I've every had. The shrimp scampi stuffed chicken is to die for, sauce was delicious but they won't give up the recipe. From the owner Tommy to our waiter Paulie everyone made us feel like old friends. If they ever open a place in Palm Coast FL. we will be regulars

Great Food Always.

By beenthere34 |

If I am in Vegas, I find a way to get there for a meal. I have even stayed an extra night out of my own pocket on a business trip. It's an easy cab from the strip or downtown. The service is always top notch. The food is just unreal. The menu has so many outstanding items it is very hard to choose. I usually stick with a pasta, but don't miss the french chops. I have introduced numerous guests and friends to this experience and they are always surprised. Cozy, friendly atmosphere. A must try.

A True Local Gem

By Kevin C |

We took my wife's sister to this restaurant and at first she was not impressed with its location (a strip mall in Southern Highlands) nor its ambience, UNTIL she tasted the food. We haven't had a single dish there which we haven't loved, although the lasagna is amazing, as is the NY cheesecake.

Pretty good for brunch

By Barbara B |

We have been to this restaurant many times when it was called off the strip. It is my understanding that the brunch on Sundays is relatively new. The menu is very good. Bloody Mary's were excellent and the food was good. Our waitress was excellent. I gave it three stars for atmosphere. It was not the best ambiance and we were the only people there. But I think it will evolve.

Quality has gone down

By Yvonne M |

We eat here a lot. Staff is great but the quality of food has gone down dramatically since name change from Off The Strip to Zest. It is one of the few restaurants in a large and growing neighborhood.

Awesome cheesy pasta goodness...

By Colin M |

Just go here. I do every time I am in Vegas. Don't stay on the strip for god sake! Rent a car when you're in Vegas, and just go to Off the Strip! Found out about this place, where else, on Trip Advisor! I usually get any of the Rigatoni dishes, awesome, cheesy, pasta goodness. I will try to venture into the other entrees next time, but the pasta here is just delicious. Every time I see somebody next to me with the pork chops, lamb chops, or beef wellington, I just want to try it. No regrets, just keep coming back! 15 minutes south of the strip, just off i-15 in Southern Highlands Vegas. Awesome owner, and servers are always top notch, friendly and real. No fake personalities here or fake trumped up service, just good local people, proud of their restaurant. And they should be! Will keep coming back! Free cheesecake for dessert if its your first time. Cheesecake= awesome! Just go!

You can't judge a book by the cover!

By SrGrammyLinda |

We found this jewel in Trip Advisor and decided to give it a try. As we entered, I was rather disappointed because it looks like a newly started coffee shop but since we were already there, and the reviews were mostly good, we decided to stay for dinner. The chefs are doing a tremendous job here. Once my food was served I could not have cared less about the lack of ambience. My husband had the Chicken Saltimbocca with a Caesar salad. I chose the Orange Roughy Franchese and per the servers recommendation, tried the House Salad. Everything was wonderful, though I will admit the House Salad was significantly better than the Caesar. This is located a little off the strip, but it is well worth the short drive. Give it a try.

Great Food Comfort and Ambience not as good

By Yvonne M |

We live near this place and the food is amazing and priced right. However, the chairs are so uncomfortable and you are crammed in where you feel like you are eating with the tables next to you. Since this is a little hidden gem in an area of a lot of nice homes and few restaurant options we deal with it. I personally would like to see them raise the entre prices a buck or two and get some more comfortable seating. You cannot request a server which is also not to our liking.

Get away from the strip and eat like the locals.

By MaralagoKid |

This place is about 3 blocks from my vacation home in vegas and go every time I'm there. The prices are good and you don't have to deal with the pretentious snobs on the strip. The food is very well prepared. A small complaint may be the portions being too big. No one can ever finish their meals and we don't want to look cheap by splitting plates…LOL. Better yet is the service. You will be checked on by every waiter. Pretty unusual these days. The setting is not 5 star but casual…the food and service is what this place is all about. Good job guys!

Paid alot for a filet - could have been better

By TLM-Jupiter |

Went with 5 other adults - each of us ordered something different. The hamburger wasn't real good, the filet was good but very dry. Food was so-so but pricey, not sure we'd go back. The veggies were good ...

Amazing!

By CindyLouSantaRosa |

What a special evening! We celebrated my 50th birthday here. Came with a group of 11 and we had an amazing experience! The food was awesome! We tried several appetizers! Wow! I don't know which was my favorite - short rib ravioli, bacon wrapped shrimp, new York steak wrap, or the calamari. My daughter even ate the calamari and shrimp and she doesn't eat seafood. Everything cooked to perfection with amazing flavor. We loved the entrees, wine selection, and homemade cheese cake as well! I highly recommend this place! You will not regret!

Good and Bad

By cubswin1234 |

I always come here once or twice during my visits to Vegas. So I'm partial to this place. Had an amazing Cajun ribeye on Monday. Couldn't have been more pleased with the meal. My wife wanted the meatloaf special on Wednesday, so we went back. I liked the steak so much, I ordered again. Terrible, overcooked, and bland. I did not complain because I've had too many good meals to let one bad steak ruin it. The service is always spectacular, but I could see where people have bad experiences. We were there during SEMA/AAPEX week and several large tables really monopolized the staff. I recommend you give this place a chance. I'll go back the next time I'm in town.

Not So OFF THE STRIP - and WORTH THE TRIP

By Angela W |

Found this place as a result of the online reviews. Nominal distance off the strip and given the ease to get there, it takes less time than eating on the strip - no traffic, no valet, no walking. Straight off the strip - 8 miles north so easy to get to. And then you get there - Tom the owner and the entire service team are great. Very nice group of people. If you are looking for a local gem, this is it. We will go back every time we are in Vegas. "Came all the way from Florida to eat here!" I told Tom as we arrived - that started off the best meal of the entire week. The food - comfort italian food. The potatoe pie, the artichoke, the chicken parm. All very good. Two guests had the chicken parm and the portion was GI-NORMOUS and yummy. I had the Pesto Pasta with Grilled Salmon. Once the food arrived it was quiet as everyone enjoyed the savory food.

Disappointed

By abcdTEAMG |

This place was so overpriced and pretentious. The food was average, nothing special. Portion sizes are small. Would not recommend and will not be returning.

Hate to do this...

By funseekerlv |

I have been gong here since it started out as another name. I have always been happy. Not today. I write this from a toilet. Seriously... not to be gross. I was very specific MORE than once that I cannot have gluten or dairy. Neither can the baby I nurse. Let me say first it took an hour to get our entree. By the tine we got food our baby was done. My husband ordered the Mother of all burgers and said it was terrible. I got my meal with melted cheese on top. I scraped it away.I ordered the chicken piccata. Which was told was gluten and dairy free. It appeared to be in butter and came with mashed potatoe's and veggies. I ate the veggies and chicken thinking it must be olive oil. Wrong. So wrong.... I am very upset so little care or attention was given to my request. There are two people now affected by this tonight. Me and my allergic baby.

Absolutely awesome food and drink

By Joelle B |

Had dinner tonight at this restaurant. By far the best food I have ever had. The appetizers are to die for!! The short rib stuffed ravioli was absolutely mouth watering. Visit - you will not be sorry!

Wonderful Food, Great Service!

By GeauxFrogs |

We went to the restaurant for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The food was made with fresh ingredients and the service was wonderful. We had the pleasure of sitting near the kitchen and it was great watching how clean and professional the team worked. We will be back for another great meal!

Perfect Bistro for Two

By Michael S |

We were staying at the South Point Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. The wife and I chose this bistro due to its location, ease of access, and previous TA reviews. Quaint diner made for two. Fantastic food and fantastic service from staff and owners. I chose a Mediterranean salad while my wife chose a traditional Spaghetti and meatball dish. Both dishes contained out of this world flavors and would have no hesitation to recommend to others. Without a doubt, fantastic!

Fresh cooked

By Dave P |

This family run restaurant in a strip mall serves mostly locals, but they welcomed us in and seemed truly glad we made the 20 minute trip from the strip. Everything is fresh cooked, prepared the right way and it showed. And the staff were fun and helpful with everything. Also it is not very expensive. It is just a very good neighbourhood place, hopefully an few tourists will come but not too many to spoil the place.

Daughter's Great Advice

By AZ2015LadyDi |

We took some old friends to Off the Strip at my daughter’s recommendation and everyone was delighted with the dining experience. We started with rolled steak appetizers and we all immediately knew we were going to a great evening. We ordered grilled salmon, beef wellington, beef stroganoff and chicken parmesan and finished with their homemade cheesecake. Everything was delicious and everyone left happy. Stephanie provided great service and treated us like a guest in her own home. By the way, our friends are well traveled and grew a bit concerned when we pulled into a community shopping mall. We had to drive around the parking lot to find it. It was a great dining, well worth the drive to get Off the Strip. They have an on-line menu if you want to check out the prices. Try it; you will love it.

Great Italian

By Crystal Y |

Pleasantly surprised. Liked the authentic Italian vibe. Flat bread pizza was a good size, fresh and delicious. I had the chicken and artichoke dinner, good choice. The homemade balsamic vinaigrette on the house salad was tasty. Would definitely go again.

Quality with affordable prices

By Helly N |

Quality does not always mean expensive and this restaurant is the proof of it. They have the quality with very affordable prices. The food is very tasty in deed. The service is top notch!

Want to Eat at a Favorite Local Spot? This is Your Place.

By Copper1212 |

Wanted to leave the casino resort for a good meal and we were lucky to find this local fave. It was a little late on a Tuesday night but they welcomed us with open arms. We sat at the bar and had a delicious affordable bottle ($32) of Chianti. The manager, Donna was awesome and seemed to know most of her customer's first names and favorite dishes. We had warmed bread to munch on while we waited for dinner. The Eggplant Parmesan is cooked lasagna style with ricotta cheese and mozzarella melted perfectly on top. It is a generous sized portion with al-dente spaghetti and marinara on the side. For a lighter dish the arugula salad with salmon was yummy. The salmon was a nice thick portion and cooked medium upon request. The freshly baked cheesecake topped off the night perfectly. If I lived here I would visit this spot all the time.

Very good happy hour deals

Interesting food, good discounts and good service. A nice alternative to the video poker bars that all have lousy food.

New Name, Same (And Even More) Excellent Food

By DonnPearlman |

The former Off-The-Strip restaurant in the Southern Highlands shopping center in Las Vegas (actually, it's located in Enterprise, Nevada) is now owned by a former manager and partner, and has been renamed Zest. (An Off-The-Strip restaurant owned by the original owner has opened at The Linq area, which, ironically, is actually located on The Strip.) The food at Zest remains excellent, and additional items have been added to the menu, including lighter meals for the hot summer. Two of my favorites year-round are the chicken parmesan and the penne ala vodka. My wife enjoys the eggplant parmesan. Portions are large. Only open only for dinner on weekdays, Zest now also opens at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday for brunch.

Disappointing dinner

By Frugal_traveler21 |

We had high expectations for dinner, based on reviews on Tripadvisor. First, it is a long drive from the Strip, so people should be aware of that. This is very much an informal local bar type place. Not fancy at all. Our service wasn't very good. And the food just wasn't very good. Didn't really enjoy it. It was not worth the drive.

Great NY Italian meal off the strip

By Steve C |

If you don't mind traveling a little off the strip, and you want a great NY Italian meal, this is the place to go. Don't get turned off by the dreary outside appearance in a strip mall or the lack of ambience inside. What it lacks in Vegas glam, it makes up for with authentic NY style Italian food, huge portions and wallet friendly prices. An eggplant parm afficianado, theirs was one of the best. Also enjoyed chicken saltimbocca. Although we were stuffed, our server insisted we try the NY cheesecake and she comped us a slice. She was right about it and somehow we managed to finish the whole thing. Eat where the locals do. Doubt you would find 4 real cowboys wearing hats and spurs on their boots at a bar in the Bellagio.

Amazing food & service!

By Expert101702 |

Calamari was to die for. The service was impeccable, very attentive and spot on. Friendly staff, owner came by several times to check on us. Food was amazing, the sauces, the pasta just right. And the amazing cheesecake at the end of our meal.... Just WOW! Highly recommend this place.

Great pork choices

By Jesseryanfarnsworth4 |

Love it love it love it. Don't forget the cheesecake!! If I smoked the smoking lounge is pretty cool and has a guitar to play with. French pork chop is unbelievably delicious!

Noise level

By Fred H |

As a parenthetical comment diners should be aware the music is especially selected to create a high level of energy. A number of years ago it was fusion. The owners/management pay attention to detail.

Good food and super friendly staff!

By majtie |

We had dinner here on the last night of our roundtrip in the US and had a very good time! First of all the staff is super friendly, they make you feel right at home. The food was also very good and not expensive at all. We got a cheesecake on the house which was delicious! Nice touch: there is a room for smokers where you can play guitar and there's a karaoke set, very cool! I would definitely recommend this restuarant to others and would come back here if I ever return to Vegas!

Outstanding food and service

By dfs38 |

Found this restaurant on our last night in Vegas, and it was a great find. On any return to Vegas it will be on our required eating list, in fact, we would be there more than once. It is a ways off the strip and a car is needed. It is a little bit of a challenge to locate in the shopping center. Just remember, it is in the corner on the south end. Enjoyable, casual atmosphere with an open kitchen. You may want to sample the appetizers, good selection and outstanding. Be careful though, the pasta servings are ample. We had the cheesecake for desert which was moist and delicious. The prices are right and we couldn't have had better service.

Hidden Gem

By supad711 |

Love this place. I live in this general area and was recommended to try this place by someone that lives clear out of town. Although not too old of a restaurant, it has a cool backstory from older Vegas (like when the old wet n wild was by the strip). Great food at reasonable prices! I recommend this place to locals and to tourists (just don’t make it tooooooo busy, as I am starting to frequent this place).

Poor food

By simonkemp |

The salad had been sitting around doused with balsamic vinegar for a long time . My chicken masala was too salty and the chicken was overcooked. A very poor meal.

Scrumptious!

By Carmen P |

With a group of 10 for a birthday party, we had some of the best food I've had. Appetizers were Calamari which was crispy and tender, short rib ravioli mouth watering, giant bacon wrapped prawns cooked perfectly and the Rolled New York off the charts. Sea Bass was a special for dinner that was so fresh and flaky. This causal restaurant is definitely 5 star all around.

Good find in Vegas - off the beaten track somewhat

You need a car or a cab to get here, and it's also not that easy to find within a rather sprawling shopping area, but it's worth the effort. I'm not sure how a chain restaurant like Cheesecake Factory (good as it is) gets higher ratings here on Tripadvisor than an option like this. I had the rolled New York as an appetizer and it was good, but the main course was the real star. The French pork chops I had (along with a cream sauce of bacon, mushrooms and onions and a helping of potato mash) were one of the better renditions of the humble pork chop that I've had. The chops were of generous size and I could not finish the meal to have dessert. Service was top-notch, the staff seem to genuinely enjoy working here. A bit on the pricey side for the establishment that it is, though the quality does speak for it - it came up to around 40 bucks for the two choices, excluding tips.

Delicious food and great service!

Stopped in around 9:30 for dinner and we’re so happy we did! Everything about this place was great! We ordered scallops with linguini and the pork chops. Both of our meals were delicious! We can’t wait to go back!

Off the Strip

Off the Strip ---- normally very good food. Smokey, a bit loud, fun place, gambling at the bar. Nice area.

Pleasant Surprise

By GP Smith |

Our server James was amazing! He greeted us knowing we had Brunch on the brain. He showed us the options which were mind boggling and said it was ALL YOU CAN EAT. It was appreciated because it isn't buffet style it's a menu of 5-10 items and you choose a category and then can select which small plate options you want to eat and he brings them out one by one. Each plate was plated well and tasted great for a low price.

Good but puzzling

By SoItinerant |

I'm not even going to try and explain this restaurant. The location is out-of-the-way, in a strip mall in the recently developed Southern Highlands neighborhood. Even in that unpromising environment, Off The Strip is hidden away almost apologetically and is difficult to find unless you are specifically looking for it. On entering, the place looks and feels like a small, undistinguished neighborhood watering hole and restaurant. The colors are warm but dark, and the decor is uninspired. But stay a while, friends. You will discover the difference as soon as you sit down. Service is fast, attentive, friendly and strikes exactly the right balance between attention and distance. And as you will shortly discover, the food, unexpectedly, can hold its own against most of the far fancier and more expensive restaurants on the Strip. I'll just mention one thing that particularly stood out: their Caesar salad is probably the best I've had anywhere in the world. I cannot explain this bizarre phenomenon. But I urge you to take advantage of it before it vanishes back into the time-space portal from which it unexpectedly arrived.

Good service. OK food.

My wife and I had dinner at Off the Strip. I had the beef stroganoff special and my wife had the salmon. The salads were fresh and crisp. Both entrees were tasty. There was a generous portion of stroganoff served over noodles. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The waitress was prompt and courteous. We thought this was a nice neighborhood restaurant but not anything special. The only negative we experienced was the $11 charge of a Cosmopolitan. Given the atmosphere and the type of restaurant this is, we thought the charge for the drink was excessive.

Tourist if you go has off the strip, you will get nabbed

By Fredbush |

A big swindle !!!! The waitress proposes us the today's special: lasagnes. That we take for the children. She forgets to tell us the price : 35 US dollars for a plate of lasagne. In the end : 200 us $ for a meal of 4 people. It is to expensive. At Thon prise it's better to etat no tre strip. Tourist if you go has off the strip, you will get nabbed

Off The Strip on the Money

By Shakersalt |

After visiting vegas numerous times you realize the strip restaurants are way over priced and the food not worthy of the cost! Off The Strip is just that and worth the trip. The food was excellent, service outstanding and prices that make one realize you don't need to pay out the nose for an outstanding meal. Thank you Rita for a great time and we will see you on our next trip to Vegas.

Excellent food...service very slow, disorganized

By Bornabrit |

We decided to come to this restaurant because of the reviews on Trip Advisor. It was about a 20 Minute drive from our hotel ( encore) It is in a kind of strip mall and I have to say was very refreshing to just feel normal again without all the lights and action of "the strip". It was Valentines day and it was busy but our reservation wasn't until 8:30 so it was slowing down a little. Our waitress arrived looking flustered took our drink order gave us a menu and returned with our drinks almost immediately , at which time she said " are you ready to order" we replied "well we will take some bruschetta for our appetizers, and will give you our order in a few minutes" to which she said ok, Now a good 20 minutes later she returned for our order, Iordered the Salmon with asparagus and my husband the Kabob Combo, and an order of Pan roasted mushrooms. Almost 45 minutes later our bruschetta arrived. In the meantime we heard 3 wait people serving tables around us telling their customers the restaurants "specials" of the day .When hearing this I informed my husband that our waitress never bothered to tell us the "specials" of the day and one of the specials was scallops which I would have had!. He replied ( while holding his empty ice tea glass in hand) "she also ever bothers to refill anything".almost an hour went by before we actually received our meal which was pretty good but not as great as what we had expected it to be. We had to ask another wait person for more ice tea ,our waitress eventually appeared and we asked why she hadn't told us about the specials ..and instead of apologizing she actually went on to describe them... while I am eating my entrée ..talk about having your head in the clouds..,,we wont be back, talk about disorganized !

Par Excellence

As good as any Italian I have eaten anywhere, not just Las Vegas, as I have covered over half the globe and all of US. Portions are sizable, prices reasonable, and excellent service

Delicious!

We were staying on the Strip for vacation, but had a rental car, and wanted to try something different for dinner. This was an excellent choice! I had the Chicken Saltimbocca and my husband had Lasagna. Both were excellent, Cooked perfectly, and wonderful flavor. Service was excellent, also. Brought us fresh bread right away and kept our drinks full. We also had the homemade cheesecake, which was wonderful. It's quite a drive, so could be expensive to take a taxi there from the strip, but prices were reasonable and way better than spending the money they want for good buffets on the strip. Very satisfied with our whole experience! If you are a local, you are lucky!

Small, not fancy but great food

By RVT49 |

We had dinner at Off the Strips last weekend. Quite surprised to find such a restaurant in strip type shopping center that was actually with fantastic food. Have looked for a good restaurant close by as there are not many in the southwest part of the valley. When entering this restaurant, you might begin to have second thoughts. Plain Jane for sure, wooden hard back chairs, mismatched tables. Upon entering we were warmly greeted, by Stefanie and seated. We were presented with menus and began to browse the entrees. Stefanie made several suggestions, one of which I took, the Beef Stroganoff My wife decided on the Vodka sauce Rigatoni. Both were very very good, big portions. Stefanie was very attentive doing our meal. The portions to being to big to finish, were giving a doggie bag for a snack later. We were presented with a complimentary slice of their own cheesecake. Got to say its one of the best I have ever had. Plans to return real soon, thank you Stefanie for being a great employee making the customers welcomed. If you do not try this place, you will certainly be missing out.

A bit of a sports bar with GREAT food

By xuanlocdoc |

This is a sports bar with a lively refined clientele. The food is outstanding!! Had stuffed mussels and my partner had Beef Wellington. Ordered medium rare.......it was served hot and medium rare!! Our first visit here and there will be many more. .

I like this place!

A family member just moved to this community and this restaurant was recommended to us. I would recommend i,t also. The food was good and the service was good. What more can you ask for? It was not 5 star but a solid four.

Never disappoints!

By Dearbooklady |

We visit from L.A about twice a year and head right to "Off the Strip" They even recognize us and warm hug from Donna. Our excellent server Katie pointed out some new exciting changes to the menu, and my husband and I blissfully settled back for a wonderful yummy meal. Happy food coma, can't wait to be back in Vegas soon! Thanks!

Nice change of pace

By Tina B |

We visited Off the Strip our last night in Vegas. The staff was very pleasant and she seemed very eager to please. The food was absolutely delicious. I think the price on some of the dishes were a bit high, Rigatoni and vodka sauce was $16 and add a meatball for $8 and that is a pretty expensive pasta dish it was a perfect amount of food. The lasagna and the chicken with artichoke meals were huge serving sizes, impossible to finish the, a shame because we couldn't take leftovers home since we were flying out the next morning, both, however were reasonably priced. Mixed drinks were a little pricey. Double Jack and dt coke was I believe $16. a bit high considering I was drinking them less on the strip. Overall it was a great change of pace. We would go back.. but maybe share a meal due to the sizes. Cheesecake was to die for!!! YUM!!! Oh, if you don't have a rental car.. the trip will cost around $30 each way for 4 from the Vegas strip. Makes the night a bit costly.

Always great food & company!

We go to Zest frequently. We can always expect a great atmosphere & great quality food. I love the Garbage Salad and chatting with the staff! :)

Tasty Food and Great Service

By Jamila K |

I recently attended a bridal shower at Zest. We were a group of 20 plus; and I must say that Stephanie, our waitress was excellent, professional, and fun. Secondly, the food was very good and everyone was impressed with their selections. I would definitely dine here again and would recommend the food as well as the staff.

Weekly Dining Place for us.

By Yvonne M |

Zest has really good food at a really good price. It is in a strip mall and has expanded twice so the flow is different. The staff has for the most part been there a while. Pasta dishes are great. Steaks are good. For some reason they put their salads on small plates so they are messy but none he less good.

Amazing little place

By kingofthenorthlv |

A precious gem located of all places in a strip mall. One of top 5 places to eat as a local. I have tried almost every entrée and have never been disappointed. My favorite are the French pork chops followed closely by an entrée not on the menu but can still be had the breaded pork chops. I always bring another entire meal home in a to-go tub as the portions are huge. If you have never been here you have to make the trip.

Very good food, great presentation!

By Barbara B |

Off the strip inside looks just OK. Some of the table have table cloths on them and some don't which is a little strange. Our server was very nice and attentive and friendly. But the food!!! Oh my goodness, it was scrumptious!!! The steak fries were perfectly done. My friend had the Friday night special of fish and it was also cooked perfectly. Definitely have to get out to Southern Highlands more often. It is worth the trip.

One of the best steaks

By Bernie B |

Small strip mall restaurant, neighborhood friendly, meals are great, service is stellar, we go for the steaks..very affordable and easily competes with the high end steak houses. Definitely a diamond in the rough. You won't be disappointed.

Awesome place!!!!

By Robert J |

I have been eating at this local hole in the wall type of restaurant for the past four years and it has NEVER disappointed me. Without a doubt the best meatballs anywhere and I mean anywhere. The portions are very generous and the quality is awesome. Tommy and Billy are the owners and they are great with their customers and make you feel like family. The staff is friendly and on top of their game. Believe me, there's nothing in the menu that will disappoint you, the scampi, the salmon, the rib eye, the eggplant on and on. Try the rolled new york sliced appetizer that is stuffed with asparagus and mozzarella drizzled with a balsamic reduction. A great way to start your meal......EXCELLENT!!! The wines are awesome and don't leave without trying their incredible cheesecake...... THE BOMB!!! It may be the best you've had any place. No need to dress up, it's very casual. Go and enjoy this place and you too will say that it's AWESOME!!!

Very local and Very good

By Charles R |

Love the food and love the staff - it was our first time and everyone (including other guests) made us feel very welcome. Donna (bar tending) is super and Billie the owner said hello and as we left he made sure to say bye (as we were in the parking lot). The drinks are well executed (great martini) and lots of help with wine selection. The grilled salmon is some of the best we have had. This is the ideal local restaurant/bar - we will be back. We highly recommend Zest.

Zest is worth the trip "Off the strip"

By John R |

Zest used to be "Off the strip"...we loved it before and we love it again. It looks bland and unassuming in a Southern Highlands strip mall...but don't be fooled. James was a great server and the filet and rigatoni dishes were delicious with plenty of food and a reasonable price...make the trip, it is worth it

Fresh pizza, fresh food, awesome

By Jason S |

Fresh pizza, fresh food, awesome service, and great management. We came in on a Saturday evening during this pandemic and we were impressed. Zest offers kid friendly food, high end food for your celebrations or dates, or just fresh pizza. The service was friendly and the owner himself even asked how we were doing and chatted with us for a few. A bit pricey but what isn’t right now? Well worth the money and can’t wait to come back!

Just like going home

By dramaguys |

We've been here 3 times now - over the course of 6 years. This time we brought our adult daughters. The ambiance isn't anything fancy but the service- thank you Jesse- was terrific. Everything was great as per usual. The grilled veggies as an appetizer were fantastic! Entrées were great and after past experiences 3 of us shared 2 meals and were very satisfied. The only real disappointment was the cheesecake - in the past it was the most incredible I've ever had but unfortunately the recipe or preparation must have changed because it just wasn't the same :(. Too too bad but okay because I seldom have room for dessert here. We will be back but Jesse also mentioned they are changing their name not to be confused with the restaurant on Tropicana.

Excellent food fantastic service

We read reviews online and decided to take a chance. We were very happy with our decision. They had Excellent food fantastic service. Only complaint would be it was more pricy than expected...We would definitely visit again next time we are in town...
