Lamb Ami Kampa fantastic

By Ruth D |

But whatever you do do not do not order the chicken lefkadas. It was so dry I physically couldn't eat it. My son didn't like it for the same reason so the dog got it. Would recommend the calamari appetizer, that was great. Make a reservation and arrive early. This was a Groupon special and we will probably come back for the lamb. Service was a bit slow and not many people there so plan on a ton of talking.

Needs a new look & menu - perfect for TV makeover

By susan g |

Arrived around 8 pm for dinner. The restaurant was far from full. We ordered appetizers and entrees. The presentation of our meal was poor. Prices of some of the basic greek specialties was high and portions were small. Kabobs did not taste like they were cooked over charcoal. we expected better and leaner cuts of lamb. The bottom line is - we wont be back! There are a lot of quality restaurants in Manayunk and this one has tired itself out over all the years that it has been there.

Great food and atmosphere

By Lindsay Z |

I was a bit worried when my husband picked the restaurant, but was so pleasantly surprised. The food is amazing the service is wonderful and the tech savvy establishment and fun decor make it hard to believe it's 22 years old. I felt ill mid meal which happens to me a lot and we had to leave in a hurry. Our sweet waiter whisked our entrees away wrapped them up nicely for us and helped us exit quickly. The whole staff was so polite and friendly and we can't wait to try it again when I'm feeling better.

great service, very overpriced basic food

not worth the price at all. the food was very simple, had small servings, and was very bland. the service was good but it was barely authentic greek food

Great food and awesome staff. The steak was delicious and the staff made this place somewhere I will return. The owner is a very kind man. Blase Garrecht

Although sounds like a ice cream parlour, really a very nice Greek Restaurant

Great, relaxed dinner in the heart of the cute town (part of Philly) of Manayunk! Good food, great service, and nice ambience.

Not bad

By Ironmon2 |

Coffee was excellent. Waitress snobby. We got omlets and they were good. I had to get my own coffee. The food and atmosphere and very good, I've eaten here several times over a period of 15 years and generally good Greek food and a good change from your typical American Bistro.

Avoid at all costs

By DavidDPhila |

Just had lunch at Munk & Nunn and I feel compelled to warn everyone about it. We had hummus, greek salad, portobello sandwich, and coffee. I cannot describe in words how bad the food was. The salad ingredients were very old, including dried out cucumber and a stuffed grape leaf in an advanced state of decomposition. The hummus and sandwich were very salty. The olives were canned and inedible. The coffee was the only thing that was acceptable. We told the waitress about the problems with the food, but she did nothing. Never going back.

Would not return

By ShihYu |

My husband and I decided to try this place out. The food was not horrible, but it was not good. There are so many great options in Manayunk, so I don't think we will be returning.

misses mark in several ways

By kod |

There is no wine list with prices, rather the server asks what you like and brings you a glass. 2 in our party had a $12 poor quantity glass of mediocre wine. Another party in our group had such a skimpy drink she had to have it replaced. The chicken stuffed with feta was bland and slightly dry. The whole Dorado at $34 was also slightly overcooked and a bit dry.On a Friday night this place was not busy and I know why. The fish was fresh, the place is clean, and the seating in superbly comfortable. The owner and the server were very friendly and nice. Its a shame the food and drink did not measure up.

Usually excellent - sometimes OK

By Harrietlou |

We have eaten here at least 7 times. Most of those times, the food was excellent. We have had hummus, stuffed grape leaves, various lamb dishes and calamari. The food is fresh, well-made and just plain delicious. On one visit, Zesty's was a little off its game - our hummus wasn't as tasty and the dishes just didn't seem as good. But we have returned after that off-visit and Zesty's has returned to its excellent food. The service is also very good - attentive but not too much.

Good food and awful service.

By Loracmom2boys |

We were there with two others couples last night for a friend's birthday. We ordered drinks and wanted to make a toast but my drink was not served until we asked the manager to check on it. We ordered a lemon drop martini and got dry martini with a slice of lemon. Needless to say it got returned. Then all but one meal was served. After the rest of us were finished the meal was served. Won't go back

Just Not Quite There

By MeridienneduCap |

The atmosphere was almost, almost attractive but the neon light strips in the ceiling gave it a diner vibe. Don't get me wrong its much nicer than that, but several touches keep it from being chic or elegant. I'd prefer to eat outside. I had stuffed grilled calamari which was too rubbery. Have had much better. The Greek side salad was yummy, especially the feta. My dinner companion had bronzini which was adored. Service was good. We felt welcomed by the staff & the chef came out and said hello which is always nice..

Not as good as the first time.

By Janet H |

The food was good. The Greek salad very tasty as well as the octopus salad. Tons of flavor might be where the name of the restaurant comes in, very zesty. We had the Borbone fish. Also good. I may have spelled the fish incorrectly but sounds like that. I have a couple of complaints though. Even though we said we were sharing the salad they didn't split it for us. We were asked if we wanted a second drink and we said no. Then a second drink appeared. Since we didn't order it I figured it was on the house. Mine was a different drink then I ordered the first time as well. I was asked if I liked it and I said yes it really wasn't my cup of tea though. I would've disputed it however I was told I was getting a discount when he came to the table with an iPad to pay for my bill. I will never assume a discount means there was no charge for the drink, the discount was a dollar off each drink. Big deal for something I didn't order. I need out a lot and I've never had this happen where you say you don't want to drink they bring you a drink not even the first one that you had and then charge you for it and take a dollar off. I feel that is very strange After we left the restaurant I felt very upset that I received a drink I didn't order it didn't matter there was a dollar off of it. If you didn't order it you shouldn't have to pay for it. The food is good I will go back I think, however I will be more careful when ordering. If I split a salad even if there is a charge to do so, I will ask that'll be served on two plates. Also if I'm asked if I want another drink I will make it clear do not bring another drink to me and if you do I'm not paying for it. Another complaint is the iPad form of paying your bill. I am a good tipper and tip 20% on top of tax or even more if I really like the person and the service. I find it offensive that you must pay your bill on the iPad and put the gratuity in front of the food server. I don't like it and I hope other restaurants won't turn to this. I feel sorry for people who are not good tippers they may feel very pressured into tipping differently than they would've with the food server holding the iPad. The prices are fair and the food is good and it's an interesting looking place with hammered copper walls. But be careful when ordering. Be clear. But I still don't like the iPad payment method at the table.

My second visit awesome again

By Denine J |

This restaurant is a greek restaurant. Girls night out. The food and the services was so good. I server was Shavav. He was excellent. The had a $35 speciial going on. appetizer, soup/salad, main course and dessert. Every one had the special. The fresh mussels was very good. The saganki was very good. It was 7 of us and everybody got something different so we could tasty everything. We were not disappointed. The presentation of the food, the taste and service was awesome. The chef came to our table because we was making so much noise. We really enjoyed everything. Also the place has been renovated. Looks very nice. I usually take pics overwhelmed with the company and the food.

Not totally Greek

By Steven S |

Why would a Greek restaurant have an Italian dish like veal Parmesan as it's special? I haven't been able to figure that out. The lamb dish that I got was average, the calamari was very tasty and the Greek salad was just a usual Greek salad, nothing special. I did enjoy the live entertainment with the guitarist and singer, which added a nice touch to the environment.

Mixed review

By Dona D |

True, it was a Sunday evening but when we walked into a totally empty restaurant warning bells should have gone off. That being said, it was a mixed bag and thus a mixed review. Our server, Jenna, was fantastic. She could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Warm bread was accompanied by a garlic olive oil dipping sauce that was, if you like garlic like we do, superb. We ordered two entrees, Shrimp Glyfada (Extra jumbo shrimp, sauteed with olive oil, garlic, shallots, ouzo, Greek olives, feta cheese and tomatoes, over rice pilaf) and Pastitsio, a Greek version of lasagna. The shrimp dish was great, the pastitsio not so much. The cinnamon and clove flavor was overwhelming and was really not to my taste. We finished up the meal with a generously sized piece of baklava, but it was obvious it was refrigerated and I prefer my baklava room temperature. So you have one happy diner (shrimp glyfada) and one unhappy diner (pastitsio & baklava).

Zesties is a great place the food is great and the atmosphere is great as well. The owner came around asking how everything was, he made us feel at home. The server was very nice as well

Good food, good service, high prices

By Ken T |

We went here for an early dinner on Saturday. It was an extremely hot day in Manayunk so there were not many people out and about. We had a party of seven, which they accommodated very easily. The service was attentive and friendly. The food came out very quickly. The portions were about average but the prices were a little high. Overall the food was good. I couldn't rate it higher because the food was good, but not great, and the prices were a little high for what you get.

Excellent

Food was delicious. The server and Chef were accommodating and the atmosphere was great. We really enjoyed ourselves very much, Thank You!

A Dining Experience Beyond Outstanding!

By b b |

This is a great restaurant! Wonderful ambience, service, and above all GREAT FOOD! We were a large party of 12 people and the service was outstanding and our dishes were beyond delicious. We all tried something different: Appetizers, Greek Chicken soup, Greek Salad, calamari, Octopus, and Greek dips with pita bread. The homemade warm bread was to die for. Main courses chosen by us were: Crab cakes (no fillers like most restaurants), Chicken breasts (started with a Lef…) rolled around spinach n feta, moussaka, roasted lamb with orzo n tomato sauce, fillet mignon done to perfection, and lobster ravioli. The main courses included delicious vegetables and potatoes. Portions were VERY generous and the servers packed up the extras to take home. (They were packed so nicely in plastic microwavable containers NOT in flimsy styrofoam). For desserts we all HAD to have BAKLAVA! It was the most enjoyable outing we have had at a restaurant in a very long time. Everything about Zesty’s is First Class at moderate prices. The owner/chef walked around and greeted all the tables and was so nice. We shall return! Thank you Zesty’s!

a find

By Jeff S |

We ended up in Manayunk to retrieve a forgotten credit card. I looked at a few nearby restaurants and found this Greek one. It was outstanding. Everything was top shelf, except the bread, which was nothing special. Particularly good were the grilled calamari, grilled baby octopus and the mussels. My wife said it was one of the best she ever had. It was so good, we asked for a spoon to get every drop. Maybe it was because it was relatively early on a Tues night, but the place was empty. People don't know what they're missing. As you can imagine, the service was quite attentive.

Will Not Honor Reservation

By Nikki M |

Rude host, doesn't honor reservations they actually called to confirm (We did arrive on time.), doesn't provide basic customer service when turning people away, will ignore you standing there.

Good food, pretty awkward service.

By Britt H |

I've passed this place at least 50 times and never gone in, so on a Sunday afternoon we decided to grab a late lunch., because who doesn't love feta cheese? We were also persuaded by this man who was the maître de/DJ/owner? dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and had been hitting the sauce midday. Obviously, winning me over. The outside tables were all occupied, so you'd figure - wow everything must be delightful! Well we were seated inside, and were among one of three tables, making us 2 of 8 inside - patrons. It's an awkward set up, 2 bars and then full of [empty] tables - with a DJ that is playing the cupid shuffle and every version of the electric side [with no dance floor lol]. Aside from the fact that it took them about 15 minutes to come back and ask for our order, she only took our drink orders then left for another 15 minutes before coming back and taking our food order. With one grilled chicken Caesar salad & one small classic greek brick oven pizza - you'd figure 15 minutes for our food? Well, about 25 minutes later the runner brought out the salad. Then I waited, and saw the waitress and she came over laughing with "Oh did you hear what happen to your pizza...?" I'm thinking...it fell on the floor? Rabid dogs ran away with it? "It's pretty funny, our bartender thought it was hers, put it on the bar and that girl over there just started eating it. And what's weird is that's not even what she ordered! HA ha HA" Umm..... "So I just re-placed your order, should be up shortly". I should have said, no thanks I'll just eat at home, but she walked away so I was a little stuck. Anyway, it FINALLY came out, and was DELICIOUS, but with no apology and my food literally taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r, it just made me want to box most of it and head out. To which I jokingly told the waitress "Hey does she [the girl at the bar] want this half too? Or should I take it home?" When she came back with the box, she also had our check/iPad. This was extremely awkward because she stared at my boyfriend while he either chose "18%, 20% custom gratuity" Now we never skimp on tip - 20% at least, but this made for a somewhat uncomfortable/awkward moment. I think the only way to go here is follow two rules: 1. Get take out & 2. Pay with cash

Good Dinner

By Steve W |

I went with a lady friend before our New Years celebration. Dinner was very good. Our server was attentive without being intrusive. I had branzino, which was prepared perfectly. My friend had a vegetarian moussaka which she really enjoyed. We have Zesty's on our list for a return visit.

How can it be Zesty, if it is bland?

By GLDawson |

Party of four, two adults and two kids decided some nice Greek food would be perfect for a Friday night dinner in busy Manayunk. We made reservations. Warning number 1: Bad feeling when we entered the quite attractive restaurant and saw that reservations really would not have been needed. Odd, because restaurants in this part of Philly fill up quickly on weekend nights. Menus were presented, but no wine list. The waitress mentioned 2 specials, however I overheard another waitress explaining 5 specials. I ordered a glass of Retsina, which the waitress did not recognize. This was warning number 2. Retsina has been made in Greece for over 2000 years. We ordered for appetizers, descriptions are from their menu: "Saganaki - Deliciously flambéed Kefalograviera cheese with Ouzo & lemon - $12 "- 2 very small pieces of cheese, the waitress really did not know how to set it on fire, but it was OK. "Baby Octopus - Apple-wood-fire-grilled with onion, tricolored peppers, chick beans, capers, and cold pressed oil — $16." Sounds really good, but it was tastesless, tough, and really not pleasant. The onion was OK. "Greek Spreads, Taramosalata (“Caviar” mousse), tzatziki (cucumber and yogurt with garlic), skordalia (garlic), served with pita — $12." Taramosalata was tasteless, tzatziki was good, as was the skordalia. Not enough pita, but there was bread on the table too. Mains: My wife ordered the Gyro Platter which was sold out at 7:00PM on a Friday night in a sparsely populated restaurant - Warning number 3. We should have left, but we trudged on. She then selected the "Shrimp Glyfada - Extra jumbo, sauteed with olive oil, garlic, shallots, ouzo, Greek olives, feta cheese & tomatoes, over rice pilaf — $24." She got three shrimp for the $24. The dish was bland, but OK, the shrimp were not bad. My teenage vegetarian son ordered "Gnocchi al Gorgonzola Uniquely light ricotta gnocchi in a white cream sauce with Gorgonzola green (sic) cheese — $20." The gnocchi actually was light and fluffy as it should be. All of the cheese made it a bit much and there was no vegetable accompaniment, so not really very healthy. I gave my son some of my broccoli which he appreciated. The youngest son ordered a "Filet Mignon Marinated & apple-woodfire-grilled to taste — $28." It was OK. I had the again, just OK, but disappointing because it was just OK "Royal Dorado - Mediterranean delicate white fish of the Dorado family - $26." Their website menu claimed to have Black Sea Bass, Red Snapper, Lavraki, Branzino and the Dorado as fresh whole fish grilled over apple wood. It also shows pictures of many kinds of whole fish on display on ice. Only the Branzino and Dorado was offered. The Dorado was bland, filleted, small and lonely on the plate, no rice, just a side of two pieces of rather old, boiled, long stemmed broccoli, one of which I gave to my son. Service seemed rushed, but I don't know why, since no one was beating down their door to have a very expensive but just average meal. Zesty? I don't think so. We will not return.

Delightfully Delicious

By Frugalfranie |

Got a Groupon deal and wasn't sure what to expect, glad we stopped in! I couldn't pronounce most of the dishes on the menu but Ashlee our sever had us covered. The appetizer presentation was great and the taste was even better. The meal size is just right and the food very favorable. Yeah parking sucks but that's Manayunk. Restaurant lay out is very modern vibrant colors and 2 bars. This looks like a great weekend hangout. I do have to say the desserts need improvement. I had the chocolate lava cake, and my daughter the cheesecake, we should have stopped after our entrée.

Such a nice discovery! Greek with Heart!

By Alexa F |

We kind of stumbled across this restaurant while walking through Manayunk. So glad we did! We were looking for a good place to eat before attending a musical at Venice Island. We received a warm welcome and a nice booth table (interesting use of old church pews), a friendly waiter, Juan took our order. He was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended the perfect glass of Greek white wine. Cheers! I ordered another! We started out with a delicious Caesar Salad, shared a hot crab stuffed Squid Appetizer (beautifully presented and very tasty) , shared the Veal Marsala (fabulous!) , and shared the Baklava dessert. Everything was perfect. We couldn't have asked for anything else. The chef stopped by our table to ask us how we enjoyed our meal and we had such a nice conversation. It's apparent that he uses high quality ingredients and pays special attention to the preparation and presentation. It's hard to find a restaurant with heart these days. This place makes a special effort. Bonus: check out the friendly fish. There are several big and beautiful fish tanks in the restaurant. Approach the one with the biggest fish- they will swim toward you and it 's crazy but it really looks like they want to say "hi" and that they are smiling at you! We had a great time and will return for sure, even if we have to drive 30 mins to get there. Worth traveling the distance! Thank you!

Colorful, Eclectic Restaurant in Manayunk

By HalliePhiladelphia |

The minute you walk in you know you are in for a great evening. The restaurant is colorful, crafty, and radiates energy. Our waitress was exceptionally knowledgeable about the whole fish and provided guidance based on each individual’s palate. Any of the fish dishes are terrific or try the wide variety of small plates. Highly recommend for a lively night out in Manayunk! This is so close to home we can’t wait to visit again!

OMG!

By Denine J |

We had the Chilean sea bass. Awesome. Nice portion size which is a plus. I hate when they give you a little piece of fish. It was flavorful served with mashed potatoes and green beans the sides were also good. Mom got baklava cheese cake. She said it was very good.

Great Greco-Roman Experience!

By Jack W |

This was our first dinner at Zesty's, and it certainly will not be our last. The menu is first rate and the results of the owner's artistic and savory cooking is delightful. I love octopus and I put this dish up there with one of the best I have had. We all had something different - crab cakes, salmon, sea bass and gnocchi. Praises from my family on each one. Also, I consider my knowledge of wines to be pretty decent. However, I know little about Greek wine. Our waiter made a recommendation of a red from Crete that was both reasonably priced, very delicious. We even got a surprise treat at the end. Tom, we will be back.

Great Healthy Meal after Thanksgiving

By AkHasan |

First, many thanks to Marco our server for introducing us to some very delicious Greek wine and his attentiveness. I started with the grilled calamari in a balsamic wine reduction. Very tasty. My wife and I both had the grilled branzino. We could taste the freshness of the fish. Live pianist playing while we ate was the cherry on top.

Hurry up and wait

By Cynthia K |

We had a reservation, but there appeared to be no Host to seat people. Finally a very nice woman greeted us and confirmed our reservation and told us she would seat us shortly. Another wait staff addressed the people who came after us and went to seat them. Thankfully, the woman who assisted us came to the rescue and sat us infuriating the other couple. Meanwhile, my husband went to get us cocktails as we had be now been standing there for 20 minutes. We are seated. No one comes to pour water or say hello. Finally a waitstaff person appears, takes our order. We finish our drinks. Nothing. Finally an appetizer arrives. We eat that. Nothing and no one. After a good 30 mins or more, my husband's grilled fish arrives. But my fish soup is no where to be found. 10 minutes later they take the fish away to keep it warm. 10 minutes or so later my soup arrives and my husband's, by now overcooked is brought back to the table. My soup was horrible. All the fish was overcooked and rubbery. My husband like his fish. We used to come here years ago and it was delicious. But this was a bad experience. I am hoping they were just having a bad night. But I won't be going back soon.

Mediocre food, Mediocre service.

By Joan S |

Mediocre food. mediocre service. There is nothing special about this Main St.Manyunk eatery. Tasteless uninspired food and inattentive service. After waiting for 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge our table, we were given a 10lb Beverage menu on an iPad, that offered little or no explanation of the wines offered. The food was just boring. No need to return, that’s for sure! February 2025.

OUTSTANDING!!!

By b b |

This is the very best restaurant in Philadelphia...Great food, service, ambience and value for your money!!! I have. been here more than ten times over the past year with different groups of friends for different celebrations and just to have a delicious dinner out. After eating here so many times I decided to post it. The Calamari, Saganaki (flambe cheese with Ouzo & lemon) and Greek egg lemon soup are among my very favorites for appetizers. For the main course, I usually go for the Crab Cakes with mustard sauce which are the VERY BEST I’ve ever had, the Baby Lamb Chops, grilled to perfection, or the Chicken Breast stuffed with spinach and feta cheese. My friends usually go for the fresh fish which are displayed on ice and you choose exactly the one you want. There is always a great selection of desserts if you can make room after the generous portions. The servers are very efficient, professional and cheerful. The owner, Tom, is a great host and always comes around to greet diners and make sure everything is perfect. Zesty’s is consistently a wonderful dining experience that I always know my friends and I look forward to.

Hidden in plain sight

By Christine G |

I don't know how I've missed this place over the past 5 years I've lived in Philadelphia and come to Manayunk. I made a reservation for 9 for 630 on a Saturday night and we were seated right away as we came in. Know that valet is complimentary; we brought multiple cars and 2 of us didn't see the free valet sign. Whoops. No wine menu so be sure to ask the server about the wines available. The humus was delicious- a must order dish. You can tell it's a home made dish. I ordered a Greek side salad which was good, just a little too much dressing (there was a small pool of dressing at the bottom of my bowl). The grape leaves were also a table favorite I ordered the scallops for dinner, very good and well done and I liked the sauce. Grandma ended up ordering the same thing and was glad she went with it! Mom ordered the shrimp Glyfada and it was gone by the end of the night. There were 2 or 3 other dishes ordered that people devoured. The service was great and the servers did a good job with us, especially as service began to pick up later in the evening. I'd come back here!

Awesome meal

By EdMaleRN1967 |

I rode up to Manayunk from NJ on my motorcycle. I'm not real familiar with the restaurants in this town, but this one caught my eye. It just happened to be restaurant week. The menu outside the door looked interesting, so I went in to try it. It was a 3 course meal for $35.00. I started with the mussels for an app. My main course was filet mignon ( medium rare of course) with vegetables and potatoes. My dessert was a cannoli. Everything was fabulous. The filet mignon was small, but extremely tasty. The vegetables and potatoes were cooked perfectly. The mussels were fabulous. This is definitely a restaurant I will come back to. The service was great. My server, Jenna, was very personable, attentive without being annoying and very nice to look at. Hey we all know that adds to the experience :-). I highly recommend this establishment! Bravo!

Feel like part of the family!!!

By twocapemay |

We chose this restaurant for something different to celebrate my son's birthday. It came highly recommended & now we know why. From the moment you walk into this place you feel like part of the family. Although we had one main server, everyone pitched in to make our experience wonderful. Even the owner came out to say hello. Since we immediately felt we were Greek, we stayed with that through our ordering process. We ordered the grilled octopus (which I thought I hated but now I'm hooked!), the hummus & the cucumber/yogurt dip. Each one was wonderful. Ofcourse, staying with the theme, for our entrees we ordered the Mussauka, lamb on skewers (which I can't wait to go back for again), Sea Bass & some Greek Chicken dish. Well, needless to say, all plates were collected empty!!! The food here is fabulous!!! The decor is beautiful & very authentic from the portrait of Anthony Quinn as Zorba the Greek to scenes painted on the wall & ceiling depicting the Greek Isles. Again, couldn't finish the night with shots of oozo for the table & a wonderful concoction called Greek coffee. This is not only a fun place for a special celebration but also romantic for a couples night out. When we were leaving, the intimate outside seating was starting to fill up also with people having drinks (all served in authentic glassware) watching the streets of Manyunk filling up with the nights crowd. Just an absolute perfect place!!!!

Pretty good

Service was fine and food was OK. Beer was a little flat. Many children when i was there and they were loud.

Amazing Food And Service

By Bill H |

We wound up at Zesty's on a recommendation from our Uber driver. While checking out the menu outside, we were warmly invited in with the promise of a great meal, and we were not disappointed. We were treated like family the whole time we were there. We were well taken care of at the table, including personal service from the bartender. We had the calamari and the mussels as an appetizer--both fantastic. Make sure to get some extra bread to dip once you're done with the mussels!! Three of us had crab cakes--excellent! Light breading on the outside that was just enough to hold them together--all crab and no filler! Not only a great meal, but a great experience. Cannot say enough about the service. Will definitely go back!

Impressed

By Brian D |

This restaurant was amazing. First, the decor was nice and the lighting was just right. Second, the music was not blaring. Third, the waitress and the host were friendly. So we ordered an appetizer. It was a fried cheese with lemon over it and it was amazing and they served like fresh bread on the side that was also good. Then I ordered the a stuffed chicken with spinach and feta that came out on top of potato fingerlings and green beans. Simply amazing! My wife ordered the moussaka with beef and she loved it. They also gave each of us an amazing bowl of butternut squash soup with sage on top of it and we also enjoyed that as well. Definitely recommend this place to take your date out for a nice, but romantic time.

A Taste of Greece in Manyunk

By Foodie Explorer |

This was our first visit to Zesty's. From the moment we walked through the front door the service was excellent. Greeted by what we believe were the owners, one immediately went to get us a table. Another came by to make sure we were being taken care of. That continued through the meal, checking on us periodically. And it was a very busy this night (a Saturday) with every table occupied. We ordered the combo app with hummus (excellent), tzatziki (very good), and roasted eggplant (excellent) served with pita. Two of us ordered the Lamb Kapama (delicious) and one ordered the Moussaka (wonderful). Desserts were chocolate mousse cake and of course baklava - both excellent. Many other selections on the menu including various fish and Italian dishes will definitely bring us back in the future. Varied beer menu (mainly bottled with some on tap) with local selections was a welcomed surprise. Even had entertainment on this night. Strongly recommend it if you like Greek food (and they had Italian as well).

Happy Hour!

By AttyCSB |

We were in Manayunk in search of good happy hour deals and we tried Zesty's. They had a good selection of beer on draft and hot and cold apps. We tried the calamari, mussels and the hummus. All delicious! The calamari is done Greek way not the typical fried and breaded, so it was different but good. Service was awesome, our bartender was attentive and we swapped lots of stories. Will try having dinner next time.

Excellent Greek/Mediterranean Restaurant in Manayunk!!

By Rebe K |

The food in this lovely Mediterranean Greek restaurant was WONDERFUL!!! The muscles were outstanding - the sauce was a fabulous mix of wine, dijon mustard and spices and was a large portion for 2 of us to share as an app! Tazizki was delicious and plenty for us both ! The Chilean Sea Bass was perfectly broiled with vegetables and potatoes. We LOVED this place and will return soon!!!

Contemporary Greek

By jhu81alum |

We went on a cold blustery Sunday afternoon, There were very few diners there, so we expected a lot of attention, and in that regard, we were not disappointed. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and the available drinks. They have red and white Greek wine, beer and mixed drinks. I had a red wine that was supposed to be comparable to a Cabernet, but it was disappointing. My friend had a nice chocolate porter. The Greek (?) bread was a bit dry and not exciting. I had the Arni Kapama which is slow cooked for hours in advance, and it was very good. My friend had the Chilean Bass special--when the bill came we found out this was $36!!!--- definitely over priced so beware about that. The bass was good too, but nothing "special" By that time we were stuffed and had no dessert. Overall, a bit pricey, and hoping to find better places in Manayunk to eat--- there are a lot of other options on the Main street. Funky, non-stuffy decor, with a semi formal feel. Some window seating so you can look outside and watch the passers by on the sidewalks. Clean, upscale bathrooms. If there was a 3.5 option, I would give that, not 4.

Very pricy. Weak atmosphere

Great food, awkward waiter but would eat here again.

Went here with a friend for dinner and we each ordered one "small plate" to share. I ordered the hummus/pita small plate, my friend ordered an artichoke dish and both dishes were delicious. Service was quick and the outside dinning was very pleasant. Our waiter was very nice but a little clueless. Right after handing us menus, he immediately asked us if we were ready to order. Also, my friend tried to order an after-dinner tequila drink off the menu, the waiter said he wasn't sure if they could make it and had to check with the bartender. The waiter came back out and confirmed they did not have the ingredients to make the tequila drink and recommended a White Russian because "they are very similar." My only true complaint would be the way Zesty's collects credit card payments, the waiter used an iPad and charged my card right at the table. He then handed me the iPad so I could enter in my tip and signature. The iPad gave me options of submitting either a set 18%, 20% or I could enter my own dollar amount for the tip. I kind of felt obligated to give him the pre-calculated 20% tip because he was standing right next to me watching the iPad screen the whole time; also, the pre-calculated 20% was tipping off the total bill which included tax. Overall, both my friend and I enjoyed the meal, but I will definitely make sure I have cash next time for the bill.

Good Food in glitsy decor

We took our son and his girlfriend for dinner on a Thursday evening. The restaurant was empty. Kind of surprising. Our waiter was very exuberant - a bit over the top - he was training a new waitress but did not include her in any of his serving. The menu is Greek-Italian. They bring a tablet to your table which gives you their drink selections with descriptions - nice touch especially since all the wines are Greek. He gave my wife a sample before she chose a wine, which was good. The bread was outstanding, even though we never received bread plates. We had two appetizers to share, the calamari and the octopus. The calamari was grilled and was very good. The octopus was in a vinaigrette over green and was out of this world. I had the crab cakes, two small cakes but all crab meat and it was excellent. My wife and my son's girlfriend had the moussaka which was large and they said very good. My son had the tortellini, which he enjoyed. We had coffee, strong and flavorful, and desserts. I had the chocolate mousse cake which was to die for. With four beers, two appetizers, four entrees, coffee and three desserts, the bill was $200 with tip. Not cheap but the meal was worth it. The large dining area is in all red and blue with strung lights along the ceiling, two bars.

A bit dissapointed

Our server must have been new to serving. Not attentive at all. Other wait staff looked good. It took a while just to get some bread for the table. We had to ask for more water. The food was average. What dissapointed me most was that I got the sampler platter and it came out cold. Once I flagged the server down (again not attentive) he took the food back for heating. It came back a bit warmer, but still had cool spots. No offer was made for the mistake. Should have offered a discount or a dessert. Again, new server?

Great food, Great atmosphere!

We're new to Manayunk but have already been to Zesty's 3 times. The Calamari is superb, the Greek Salad has possibly the best dressing I have ever tasted, and the trio of dips, Tzaziki, Taramousalata, and hummus are all equally fresh and delicious. Fresh fish from the Mediterranean, on display in the window is an unusual touch, as is the giant Piranha swimming around in an aquarium...not on the menu! Complimentary Valet parking on Main Street is a wonderful bonus! We just have to go back to try out the Octopodi! I only dropped a star because of a limited wine selection and pricey drinks.

Delicious Food but Noisy

Zesty's has great food. My husband and I have eaten there a few times, and never been disappointed. However, unless you are an ardent opera fan (which I am not) it seems that every other Saturday night they have live opera music which is so loud it is impossible to have any type of conversation. Great place to go during the week though

Delicious and Healthy!

My daughter and I enjoyed a scrumptious early dinner, including an appetizer of Greek dips with two types of warm bread, a classic tasty Greek salad and a whole Branzino fish that was cooked to perfection- moist and flavorful. Everything was wonderful.

Very good Greek Restaurant

Service is excellent. The owner sometimes serves you. The whole fish is considered a specialty and not always available. Moussaka is good as is the Spanakopita. Took visiting family here once and on the next visit they requested to go back.

Hot & Zesty

We unexpectedly dropped in for dinner after a long day, and what a great surprise. The service was exceptional, and the food quality excellent from the appetizers to the main course. The restaurant itself looks a little too glitzy, almost from the late 1980s. But the food and service is worth the stop. TIP: This is only minutes away from SJU and not nearly as busy as places in Ardmore.

Phenomenal meal, owner is the best!!!

Our family went to celebrate a graduation. We will not soon forget the wonderful dining experience we had! The mussels appetizer was so good, we asked for bread to soak up the mustard sauce. Seriously, they melted in your mouth like butter! My husband raved about the baby octopus appetizer. The owner is a sweet man with a charming personality who stopped by our table. We asked about the large fish in his tanks and he told us about his “vegetarian” piranhas that made us laugh! My crab cakes were delicious and we couldn’t decide which dessert was our favorite. The combination of the owner, Tom, and the cuisine made for a memorable experience!

Awesome food, pretty venue and great waitstaff!

Simply the best Greek food I have had in a very long time. Attractive restaurant with great waitstaff made it even better. The tzatziki sauce was the best I have ever tasted.

Great Food!

We ate at Zesty's on a Saturday night, going on the early side as we prefer a quieter place. The food was really wonderful, the prices reasonable and the noise level great until about 8:00, then tolerable. We had a terrific flambe cheese dish, calamari, moussaka, a great lamb dish and a delicious Greek salad. I highly recommend the food at Zesty's!

Wow! All I can say is what an absolutely fantastic time spent at this beautiful and cozy Greek spot. A friend of mine brought us here on a date tonight. The chef and wait staff were so accommodating, kind, and personable. The wine list, the delicious octopus appetizer, and chicken entree were 5 star worthy. The espresso and the cheese cake for dessert were a wonderful ending to a satisfying and full belly evening. Thank you Zestys, dont you worry, I will be back Perri
