Puzhehei is a region of natural villages, with few large shopping malls or centralized shopping options. Instead, there are small stalls set up by local villagers. Shrimp, dried fish, dried lotus leaves, and dried lotus flowers are all very affordable. Qiubei County also boasts a wealth of local specialties, including flue-cured tobacco, chili peppers, lotus roots, rapeseed, white melon seeds, red beans, ginger, and taro, all of which are well-known local products.
The lotus seeds and lotus roots in Puzhehei ripen from September to October. On the 21km water surface of Puzhehei, there are thousands of acres of wild lotus flowers. The flowers are as white as jade, the lotus roots are high in starch and vitamins, and the lotus seeds are good for health and supplementation. They are a rare variety both at home and abroad.
Also known as "Qiubei Small Pepper", it has a cultivation history of nearly 400 years and is produced in Shuba, Tianxing, Shuanglongying, Rizhe and other townships (towns). It has the characteristics of rich flesh, bright color, high oil content, strong spicy aroma, and pure taste. It is also rich in protein, sugar, vitamins, amino acids, inorganic salts and other nutrients.
Nijiao Liquor is produced in Nijiao Village, deriving its name from the area. During the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1790), the Zheng family succeeded the Liu family (from Guizhou) in establishing a distillery, a tradition spanning a century. Nijiao Liquor is made primarily from corn, rainwater from local ponds, and a special fermented herb, then distilled through solid fermentation.
Pink kidney beans have a long history of cultivation in Ximatang, Nijiao Township, with an annual planting area of 7,000 mu, and are mostly planted in a mixed crop with corn.
