This dish is made from wild edible larvae, including pupae of giant black bees, bumblebees, wasps, grass bees, white-legged bees, gourd bees, earth bees, honey bees, tree bees, bamboo bees, and shrimp bees. These larvae are collected from August to November and are sweet when boiled or fragrant when fried. Giant black bee and bamboo bees are the best. These pupa dishes are incredibly delicious and are a top-notch delicacy at banquets.
