Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone is a large park that showcases traditional Chinese Buddhist culture. It has many attractions, and the 108-meter-high Guanyin on the Sea is one of its highlights.
The main attractions include Nanshan Temple, the Nanhai Guanyin Buddha Statue, the Unique Dharma Gate, the Ten-Direction Pagoda Forest and Guigen Garden, the Buddhist Cultural Exchange Center, and a vegetarian shopping street.
The world's largest statue of Guanyin on the sea is also located here. The statue is in the shape of Guanyin, showing three sides, with a solemn appearance. It is 108 meters high and cost 190 million yuan. It is well-known throughout Hainan as the "treasure of the island".
There is a vegetarian restaurant in the park, which provides "temple vegetarian" buffet dishes, and there are hotels that provide accommodation, which is very convenient for sightseeing and worshiping Buddha.

Because I ran too far in Nanshan Cultural Park, I walked all the way to the Nanshan Temple at the end. On the way back, I left the right path by mistake and ran to the seaside and walked along the beach. This was not a passage, so I was blocked by barbed wire halfway. I had no choice but to find a gap to get through, o(* ̄︶ ̄*)o Haha, I didn’t expect that my clothes were almost caught and my camera bag was torn, and a lot of time was delayed. Ultimately, I didn’t get to see the "Golden Jade Guanyin". This can be regarded as a memorable episode in my trip to Hainan.
When we arrived at Nanshan Scenic Area, we found out that it was the 19th day of the second lunar month, the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva. This was the origin. The one-year-old baby was very quiet in the scenic area. He didn't sleep during the tour. Maybe the little guy also felt the Buddha's comfort.
Suggestion: The old and young groups must buy tickets for the battery car. The earlier you arrive, the better. Otherwise, you really can't see it all.
Sanya is worth visiting twice or three times. The magnificence of the Guanyin on the sea cannot be described in words. You must see it with your own eyes. It is a scenic spot suitable for both the elderly and children. However, if you want to visit it all at once, you need to have a certain amount of leg strength, or take a battery car. The Guanyin base has been newly built in recent years and it is very good. The second visit still gave me a surprise! The sea water is particularly spectacular when the weather is good.
The memory I got from seeing this photo is that this park is so big, really big. I remember that it took a long time to walk, and finally I walked to the bottom of Sister Guanyin. I must say that this Sister Guanyin is the biggest, the second is bigger, and the third is super big. There are souvenirs for sale under the Buddha. I remember that I also bought a jade stone Sister Guanyin, which is pretty good. I have forgotten how much it cost
This is my third time to Nanshan. The first time was in October 2006 for my honeymoon, and the second time was during the Spring Festival in 2014 when I and my wife came here to relax with my father and daughter.
This time, our family of seven was the largest group. We invited Daxin to accompany us as a guide. The journey from the Guest House to Nanshan was not short. Daxin came to pick us up on time in the morning. The number of tourists was much less than that during the Spring Festival, and it felt less noisy. We lined up for half an hour under the Guanyin statue and entered it at noon. We visited each floor and prayed to the Buddha at the top. These were things we had not experienced before, and this time we made up for the regret.
Under Daxin’s guidance, the family participated in the activity of copying the Heart Sutra, which was also very meaningful.
The main reason I went to Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area was to see the statue of Guanyin of the Nanhai Sea. Although I don't have any religious beliefs, I feel that I can be less impetuous here.
The place is very big. From 12 noon to 6 pm, I basically visited all the scenic spots. I walked the whole time and was exhausted. In fact, it would be more appropriate to take a sightseeing bus, which stops at almost every spot.
There are so many tourists.
The one-day tour of Nanshan and Tianya was booked online, which was very convenient. The local tour guide would call the night before to inform the itinerary and pick-up location for the next day. We got on the bus at the station downstairs, which was very convenient. If you go by yourself, there are also many buses to Nanshan and Tianya Haijiao. Going to Nanshan is actually to see the Guanyin on the sea, which is said to be 108 meters high. When you get there, the tour guide will recommend you to go to the Buddha's feet and eat vegetarian food. Of course, these are voluntary and self-funded projects. Personally, I think Nanshan Scenic Area is suitable for the elderly and believers to worship Buddha. However, this is also a five AAAAA scenic spot in Sanya, which is worth seeing. The scenic area is quite large. If you play for a day by yourself, because you have to go to Tianya Haijiao in the afternoon, you can only take a quick look this time.
The ticket to Nanshan Tourist Area is 115 yuan, and there is a sightseeing bus in the scenic area for 20/person. The distance between the attractions is not far, and you can also choose to walk. Our route is the Best Way ~ Guanyin on the Sea ~ Sanshisan Guanyin Hall (Yuanqizhai Hotel is opposite) ~ Guanhai Platform ~ Nanshan Temple ~ Changshou Valley. The whole journey takes 5-6 hours on foot.
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area has mountain and sea landscapes with blue sky, blue sea, and soft sandy beaches, as well as a strong and devout Buddhist atmosphere. When you come to the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva of the Nanhai Sea, you will deeply feel its grandeur. Accompanied by the sound of waves, walking towards it step by step along the Puji Bridge, a sense of peace and solemnity suddenly arises in your heart.
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone
It is recommended to go there for elderly people to visit, and for people who worship Buddha. Other groups can choose according to their preferences.
Duration: 4-6 hours
It is recommended to take a one-day tour with the Tianya Haijiao tourist area on the same day.

Sightseeing bus: 30 yuan (must buy, the scenic area is too big and walking is time-consuming and laborious) It is recommended to buy tickets and sightseeing bus tickets online in advance
Public transportation: Bus No. 29, tourist bus
Remember not to throw away your ticket, as you will need to verify it when you get on the bus again.
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area is located 40 kilometers southwest of Sanya City, Hainan Province. It is the southernmost mountain in China and a large park that showcases traditional Chinese Buddhist culture. Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area is a national AAAAA tourist attraction. Among them, the 108-meter-high Guanyin on the Sea is one of the highlights. It is the world's first golden jade Guanyin statue and is a treasure known throughout Hainan.
Nanshan has always been known as a place of good fortune and blessings. According to Buddhist scriptures, the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara made twelve great vows to save all living beings, the second of which was to "reside in the South China Sea forever". The famous Chinese saying "Happiness as vast as the East Sea, longevity as great as Nanshan" has been passed down through the ages, which further reveals the long-standing origin of Nanshan and the culture of happiness and longevity.
After having breakfast at the nearby Yumulonghui Restaurant, we took a bus to Nanshan Scenic Area to pay homage to Nanhai Guanyin. The buses in Sanya are very convenient and can take you to any scenic spot you want to go. This is one of the reasons why I like Sanya. Maybe because of the Mid-Autumn Festival on August 15, or because it was the first day of the National Day holiday, there were a lot of tourists in Nanshan Scenic Area. You had to queue everywhere, and the weather was very hot. It was not easy to get to the feet of Guanyin to "cram for Buddha's feet". I understand this as: if you want to worship Guanyin, your sincerity is tested.
In 1993, the State Council Religious Affairs Bureau and the Hainan Provincial People's Government approved the construction of Nanshan Temple and built a 108-meter-high statue of Guanyin in the sea in front of the temple. The three-faced Guanyin statue standing in the South China Sea is 15 meters taller than the Statue of Liberty. It is majestic and spectacular and is known as a "world-class, century-class" Buddhist project. The six characters "Nanhai Guanyin" were written by Zhao Puchu, the former president of the Buddhist Association.
The scenic area is very large and the weather is hot. Although we took the battery car, my mother and I were still too tired to get off when we passed some stations. During the visit that day, I learned about Buddhist culture. When worshiping various Guanyin statues, a feeling of admiration and worship naturally arose.
Nanshan Temple is located in the "Buddhist Cultural Park" in Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone, 40 kilometers west of Sanya City, Hainan Province. According to historical records, Sanya Nanshan is the "Buddha's Palace" where Bodhisattvas live for a long time, and is known as the "Great Light Mountain". Sanya Nanshan Temple covers an area of 400 acres. It imitates the Tang style and has the Hall of King Ren, the Great Hall, the East and West Side Halls, the Bell and Drum Tower, the Wheel of Religion, the Dharma Hall, the Guanyin Courtyard, the Beitian Courtyard, etc. It is built in accordance with the terrain of the mountain, staggered, solemn, quiet and elegant. Entering the scene is like entering the real place where Guanyin Bodhisattva preaches. Nanshan Temple is a large temple imitating the style of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, located on the mountain and facing the sea. Nanshan Temple was selected by the late President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Zhao Puchu, and approved by the State Administration of Religious Affairs. The foundation stone was laid on November 11, 1995 and completed on April 12, 1998. The existing Tang Dynasty-style buildings include Renwang Hall, Tianwang Hall, Bell Tower, Zhuanlunzang, East and West Mountain Corridors, East and West Side Halls, Jintang, etc., with a total construction area of 5,500 square meters.
Entering the Buer Fa Men, you can see the majestic Nanhai Guanyin Buddha statue on the sea from afar. This 108-meter-high Guanyin statue is known as a "world-class, century-class" Buddhist project for its grand scale and rich Buddhist background. We all took a photo with the Guanyin Buddha statue from a distance. Some Buddhists even walked closer and solemnly worshipped and silently prayed for a while on the futon. As for whether the tacit wish can be realized, it is unknown.
The lotus platform at the foot of Guanyin in the distance was crowded with people. The view there was wide, and not only could we get closer to Guanyin, but we could also see some nice scenery. It would take at least an hour to queue up there, so we were daunted and decided to just take a few photos from a distance.
Someone found a suitable angle to place the tall Guanyin statue on the palm of the Buddha's hand. We enjoyed it so much that everyone tried to take several photos.
We went to the Nanhai Guanyin statue first. There were a lot of people there. My parents are too old to climb up to the Buddha's feet (I went there again the next year. I waited in line for half a day and climbed a lot of stairs. It is not recommended for the elderly to go up). I still recommend that you come to the Nanhai Guanyin in the afternoon as many beekeepers said. There will be fewer people after you have seen other attractions. In fact, if you have good legs and feet, you can skip the battery car and walk to enjoy the scenery of the park. The battery car seems to be 35 yuan per person.
There are two scenic spots in Nanshan, Sanya, Xiaodongtian and Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area. Xiaodongtian has a profound cultural heritage, while Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area is a well-known Buddhist resort. I went to the former last time, and today I will make up for the latter. Nanshan Scenic Area is quite large, and you need to take a sightseeing bus. Enter the Buer Famen, cross Guangming Square, and the sightseeing station is on the left. The Guanyin on the Sea is indeed magnificent!
It is really a magical place. Locals say that since the construction of the Nanhai Guanyin, Sanya and even the entire Hainan Island have been blessed. Typhoons have basically never passed through Sanya directly. Tourists coming and going will go there. To be honest, I don’t recommend taking photos with Guanyin. Although I am not religious, I still have to respect faith. If I pass by, I will still take a look to increase my understanding. The overall planning of the scenic area is also good. The small train is worth taking, otherwise walking is too tiring, hahaha.
Nanshan Temple, the Guanyin of the Sea, it's okay to go and see it, but I think it's too commercial. It's just a big garden with things for sale on both sides, and there's a big Guanyin in the front. I just think it's better to go and see it when I go to Sanya
It is a large scenic area, with key attractions including the Guanyin on the Sea, the Golden Jade Guanyin, the Nanshan Temple, the Buer Famen, etc. The Guanyin on the Sea is very high, and the three Guanyins are different. It takes a long time to queue up, and you can also cram for Buddha.
The most anticipated place in Sanya, where the sea and sky merge into one, the pure land of Brahma, allows people to calm down and feel the Buddhist culture and appreciate the natural scenery
Guanyin Bodhisattva has a graceful posture and a peaceful expression. From which angle you look at her, it seems as if she is watching you and blessing you!
There is a beach here and interesting vegetarian meals. The dishes without meat are said to be made with tofu. The scenery is beautiful and the sea is blue. It is worth going to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva😄 I heard that you can realize your little wish. When I went there, I told Guanyin that I hope I can get out of being single soon, hahahaha
The commercial atmosphere is very serious. There is only Guanyin on the sea. Other places are not interesting.
The 108-meter Guanyin Bodhisattva is a large scenic area, so you still need to buy a sightseeing bus ticket.
When you come to Sanya, Nanhai Guanyin is a must-see attraction. The 108-meter-high Guanyin statue is enough to shock the senses of tourists. This scenic spot also includes some temple venues in the style of other countries. Although the ticket is a bit expensive, it is still recommended to take a look.
There is a free parking lot, but there are many people and cars. I was afraid of trouble, so I paid 20 yuan and parked in the yard of my fellow villager. Nanshan is quite big. It is recommended to take a car when the weather is hot, otherwise you will regret it when you come out.
It's ok, it's still 15 words like this.
Find me when traveling to Sanya, I will take you to the highway in minutes
If you go to Sanya, I suggest you visit Nanshan Temple. You will not be disappointed. Standing at the foot of Guanyin, the sea and sky will surely shock you.
There are electric cars in the park, but I didn’t choose them. I just wanted to take a leisurely walk, and when I was tired, I sat on the side of the road to rest and enjoy the scenery. Later it was confirmed that this was the right choice.
The scenery in the park is naturally amazing.
Please be cautious when visiting popular attractions like Nanshan Scenic Area during the Spring Festival!!! I naively thought that everyone would go back to work on the seventh day of the Lunar New Year and there would be fewer people. It was so naive! It is said that there were fewer people than in the previous few days, but when I arrived at the scenic area, there were still crowds of people! I suggest that you don’t buy tickets online in advance, because even if you buy tickets, you still have to queue up for a long time to exchange for physical tickets. I don’t know how it is designed. It is recommended that you scan the QR code on the wall at the gate of the scenic area, pay attention to Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area, and buy tickets directly. You can swipe your ID card to enter... At least you can queue up less. In addition, it is recommended to buy an electric car in the scenic area. Don’t buy an online ticket again, because I don’t know why the online ticket has to be exchanged for a physical ticket before you can take the car! It’s better to buy the ticket directly with cash! The queue for the electric car is really nine nine eight bends, one bend after another. Of course, the local tyrants can choose to charter a car, starting at 700 yuan per hour. I and other losers will just queue up for a 30-yuan electric car. The first stop was Nanhai Guanyin. We queued and queued again. It took us about an hour to get in and touch the Buddha's feet. The scenery was still charming. It would be better if the queue was not so long! After touching the Buddha's feet, the queue waiting for the battery car was endless. It is strongly recommended to eat at the food court first before queuing, or you can be hardcore and eat while queuing. Believe me, you will definitely not be able to get in line after eating! There are still 6 more stops for the battery car. I am too weak to get off the car. I rushed through the battery car all the way to the gate of Buer Famen.
The way back was also extremely difficult. I took a taxi when I came here, but the taxis back were really rip-offs. The opening price was 280, or 700 for a chartered car... Please continue to queue up for the bus. Of course, there are many buses, and I strongly recommend bus No. 55. If you don't need to go to the Tianya Haijiao scenic area, this bus can take the highway. Everyone must have a seat and it will go all the way to the railway station. It costs 11 yuan per person, which is very cost-effective. There are so many stops on bus No. 16 to Tianya Haijiao. It will probably take almost two hours to get back to the city. I can't stand it anymore...
In short, everyone should either sign up for a one-day tour or go to worship Buddha at another time, especially if you are bringing children. Why bother squeezing together?
It was a tour that exceeded my expectations! There are 7 major attractions, and it is best to visit them all, each of which is very unique.
It should be noted that tickets purchased online can only be issued after 2 hours, so it is best to book one day in advance. In addition, an ID card is required to pick up tickets when booking online, but no ID card is required when buying tickets on site.
The park is very large, and the attractions are not particularly concentrated. It is best to buy a sightseeing bus ticket for 30 yuan. I am in good physical condition. I took bus 11 for the whole journey. I entered the park at 8:30 in the morning and visited all the attractions. I left the park at 3:30 in the afternoon. I didn't want to go anywhere when I returned to the hotel. I just wanted to lie on the bed.
After entering the park, it is best to listen to the explanation of a tour guide. You can learn a lot of knowledge and understand some taboos. You can only understand what is going on at some attractions after listening to the explanation.
There were a lot of people at the Guanyin Temple during the peak season. I went there on the sixth day of the Lunar New Year and waited in line outside for about an hour before I could get in.
I personally feel that the prices in the park are fair and reasonable for a tourist attraction. A bottle of cold cola costs 6 yuan (4 yuan in Sanya supermarkets), and there are many souvenirs. You can get exquisite gifts for more than 30 yuan. I searched Taobao but couldn't find any for sale... I bought a bunch of small items for 200 yuan and gave them to my relatives and friends as souvenirs. Basically all payments in the park can be made by Alipay or WeChat, including the donation boxes, which have electronic ones.
In short, the 120 yuan or so Guanyin of the Sea is definitely worth the price. Go with confidence, it's very shocking!
Put up a national flag by the South China Sea as a cover.
In June 2015, Yangyang’s first Children’s Day, the three of us took our first airplane trip. It was unwise to go to Sanya at that time. It was too hot, like a big steamer. But my son didn’t get a heat stroke even though he drank coconut every day. From then on, we knew that coconut was definitely a good thing. Drinking coconut is a must when you go to an island. In Koh Samui, Yangyang’s resistance was actually maintained by coconuts. It’s just that he played in the water, drank, and spent too much time on the beach blowing the sea breeze and taking a bath. In short, he had too much fun. He fell ill. . . .
There are a lot of people, but it's worth going
When you see the Buddha
All your hard work is worth it 😭
I have prayed for my zodiac sign and always carry it with me. Blessing.
One of the must-see attractions in Sanya, a very spiritual place
It's quite far from downtown Sanya. The scenic area is super large. There are vegetarian dishes available, and they are delicious! I was really shocked when I saw Guanyin of the Sea for the first time. It is a must-visit series. Whether it is for religious reasons or not, it is worth a visit!
The 108-meter-high Buddha statue is awe-inspiring! Nanshan Temple is worth a visit, whether you have faith or not!
It is really worth going, and it is difficult to finish the tour in one day. There are two scenic spots on the mountain, Changshou Village and Nanshan Temple. It will be very tiring to walk down. If you feel weak, you can take an electric car, which will save a lot of time.
裡面很大 位置很遠 一定要坐觀光車 不然 一路走很慢很累 裡面吃的一般五十左右一碗面 還有更貴的 感覺好 主要去看海上觀音了
There is another place I always go to every time I go to Sanya.
It is a very worthwhile place to visit. While enjoying the beautiful scenery, you can purify your soul.
When I went there in the early years, the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva had not been built yet. When I went there again 8 years later, it was already built.
It means "live as long as the Southern Mountains". I went there more than ten years ago.
We drove from the city for about 40 minutes to get here. It was a hot day, and the six of us chartered a tour bus in the scenic area. There was a special tour route, and the staff drove us to some major attractions. The volunteer guides at the temple were very Buddhist, and we really felt the sacredness of Buddhism.
Please recommend the latest travel guide for Sanya, thank you. I am alone, it would be better if I can get rid of singleness
I came with my boyfriend to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva. We stayed in the scenic area so that we could walk to see it. It is recommended to avoid the peak time. There was no need to queue when we went at 4 pm, but when we went at 10 am the next day, the queue was very long. There were many people who came to burn incense and worship Buddha. It was my first time to pray for blessings. There were three faces of Bodhisattva, and I hugged the Buddha's feet one by one. It is really a Feng Shui treasure land, with blue sky, clear water and green mountains.
The landmark building of Nanhai Guanyin is worth seeing. I bought the ticket + battery car ticket online. It is more time-saving to take the battery car. The only thing worth seeing is Nanhai Guanyin. The following points are not interesting. If you are in a hurry, you can skip them.
Passing by Sanya Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area, a new attraction built in recent years, there are many tour groups and it is very popular.
I just feel tired and sunburned. People without faith will only think it is a tourist attraction with many people and crowded! It is recommended to go in the off-season!
Nanshan Temple, look at the Nanhai Guanyin standing on the sea. Well, this Nanhai Guanyin shocked the two tourists in my family.
There is also a longevity valley in the scenic area. Take your parents for a walk and wish them a long life.
In 2007, I went to Hainan for a meeting. Actually, I went there for fun. Nanshan Temple is a scenic spot with the theme of Guanyin of the South China Sea. It is very large. We visited less than one-third of it in a hurry. If we had visited slowly, felt the sea breeze, looked at different buildings, had some vegetarian food and drank some tea, it would have been a great time.
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone has many landscapes about love and longevity, and the scenery is quite beautiful. It is worth a visit.
Nanshan, a temple attraction, was just for the spectacular Nanhai Guanyin, but it wasn't that interesting. The tickets were half price with student ID, so we booked a vegetarian buffet online for 38 per person, the original price was 50.
This vegetarian meal shows the difference between traveling independently and traveling with a group. My parents went to Sanya in late 2012. My mom said that the vegetarian meal was the best they had ever had, but my husband and I agreed that it was the most ordinary meal we had, and we could only barely fill ourselves up. You know the difference!
The Guanyin statue over 100 meters high on the sea is still very spectacular, facing the sea on three sides. I admire the talent of the architects.
The Guanyin Bodhisattva is majestic and the Yuantong Hall is magnificent and luxurious, which is worth seeing. The ticket price of 121 yuan (102 yuan online) is too high.
How can you go to Sanya and not see the world-famous highest sea-based Guanyin statue (total height 108 meters). The transportation is also very convenient. We took a direct bus to and from the city, which takes about an hour. The entire Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area is quite large. Generally, everyone goes to the Guanyin statue, and you can queue up to enter the interior to pay homage and pray. In addition to this magnificent Guanyin statue, there are many other temples, parks, attractions, etc. in the scenic area, such as Nanshan Temple and Changshou Valley, which are enough for you to play carefully for a whole day. Even if you just take a quick look, it will take at least half a day. Let's take a look at the pictures.
The Guanyin on the Sea may be more popular among locals. It is in the middle of the sea, and there is a bridge across it. You can see the Guanyin when the plane lands. It looks the same from several sides. Although it is in the sea, this place cannot be close to the beach and you can only see the sea. There is not much to see in this attraction except this, and the distance is quite far.
It's a beautiful place, worth visiting. The environment is clean and tidy. Although there are many people, it still feels good. There is a vegetarian buffet in Nanshan, which is delicious. As someone who grew up in the north, it was the best meal I had in Hainan. Now half a year has passed, and I feel grateful when I think of that meal. The only regret is that I didn't have time to enter the Foto Museum. Then, the tour guide still gave us limited time.
We came here because of its reputation. It is very sacred. There are many people here and the queue is long. Please take sun protection measures! Sincerity is the key to success!
The temple is always full of incense and tourists come to pray for blessings. The planes flying to Sanya Airport basically circle over Nanhai Guanyin, which not only allows tourists to appreciate the charm of Nanshan from the air, but also to pray for peace. It is said that there was a fee for praying for Buddha's feet in the past, but it is free now. The whole scenic area is very large and you can spend a whole day here, but it is quite hot in this season, so remember to take good sun protection. It is cool inside the temple.
It’s a very big place. I think it would be nice to practice Buddhism here. The air and environment are good.
A new landmark for Hainan tourism. The vegetarian restaurants in the tourist area are really good and worth a try.
The scenery is nice, the sky is blue and the water is clear, the statue of Guanyin is grand and magnificent, it is worth a visit!
Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone is a multifunctional large-scale cultural tourism zone built on the basis of Nanshan’s unique natural landscape of mountains and seas and its origin of longevity culture, integrating Buddhist culture, tropical ocean scenery, folk customs and historical sites. Its main attractions include Nanshan Temple, Nanshan Guanyin on the Sea, Cihang Pudu Garden, Jixiang Ruyi Garden, Changshou Valley, Xiaoyue Bay and so on.
