Pearl Beach

珍珠滩

Pearl Beach is a vast fan-shaped travertine flow, with clear water cascading across the pale yellow travertine beach. The water is blocked by tiny pores throughout the riverbed, producing thousands of droplets that shimmer and sparkle in the sunlight, resembling pearls rolling across the slope. Pearl Beach is densely covered with pale yellow moss, which is not slippery at all; walking barefoot on it feels like stepping on a sponge.

Pearl Beach is located about 0.5 kilometers downstream from Huashihai in Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area in Sichuan Province. At the junction of Rizegou and Nanrigou, there is a shallow beach with a gentle slope covered with various shrubs. The water flows about 100 meters long here through multiple levels and falls into the river valley. The rapids splash countless water droplets on the inclined and uneven milky yellow calcified beach. In the sunlight, the water droplets are like pearls in a giant scallop. From a distance, it looks like a river of white pearls flowing in the river.

The distance from Wuhua Lake to Pearl Beach is about 1 kilometer. A full day of hiking wouldn't be enough, so you'll need to choose your own path. The Pearl Beach plank path has two directions: the right, downhill path, leads to the waterfall, while the path leading to Pearl Beach is the first to see the beach. Pearl Beach is very wide, and the plank path is built directly on the beach. I heard it was a filming location for the film "Journey to the West." Standing in the cold, rushing stream would be unbearable, let alone standing for a long time for filming. The water from Pearl Beach flows to the cliffside, forming a waterfall. As you descend the steps, the mist from the waterfall falls on you, providing a refreshing coolness.

Pearl Beach is a gently sloping expanse of land, so named because the water flows over it like pearl-like droplets of water sloshing over large and small clams. Walking down the plank path from Pearl Beach, you'll eventually reach a majestic waterfall, larger than Nuorilang Falls, but not as photogenic.

After visiting the waterfall, walk to the parking lot and you'll pass by the 8.8 Earthquake Stone. This stone rolled down from a mountain hundreds of meters high during the Jiuzhaigou earthquake on August 8, 2018, and serves as a testament to the devastation of that year.

A trestle bridge spans Pearl Beach. The beach on the south side of the bridge is covered with bushes. The rapids flow under the bridge, stirring up strings of rolling, bouncing pearls on the shallows on the north side. The swift torrent flows along this 160-meter-wide sloping beach for 200 meters before reaching the cliff end. The endless torrent rushes over the cliff and tumbles into the deep valley, forming the magnificent Pearl Beach Waterfall.

Walking past the waterfall, although not as spectacular as Nuorilang, it was very close and it was great to see.

The feeling of Pearl Beach is great. You can walk from Pearl Beach. It is very beautiful.

Pearl Beach is dotted with potholes, where the cascading torrent crashes into countless water droplets, which, in the sunlight, resemble falling pearls. This is how the beach got its name. A trestle bridge spans the beach, and the water on the south side is covered with shrubs. Passing under the bridge, the torrent stirs up strings of rolling, bouncing pearls on the shallows to the north. The swift current flows 200 meters down the slope before reaching the cliff edge, where it plunges into the deep valley, forming the magnificent Pearl Beach Waterfall.

The water flowing down the Pearl Beach Waterfall is divided into sections on the gentle slope, forming a series of small pools.

When the lake water overflows a huge rocky beach, it dances like pearls. Walking on it barefoot is particularly comfortable. You can walk on it before, but I don't know if you are still allowed to walk in it now.

Pearl Beach is a vast, fan-shaped travertine beach covered in shrubbery. Clear water flows through the pale yellow travertine and bushes, cascading down to form the Pearl Beach Waterfall. Pearl Beach is wide, and visitors can wade across a trestle bridge to experience its magic. In winter, Pearl Beach lacks any beauty, with only dry branches and twigs to see. It's not particularly attractive, though the water itself is worth a look.

Jiuzhaigou is so beautiful that it is worth a second visit.

By LENA |

My first trip to Jiuzhaigou was in January, off-season, and the natural scenery was breathtaking. To put it simply, "Nature is unadorned, like lotus flowers emerging from clear water." Before I even left, I decided to return in spring, summer, and autumn. Jiuzhaigou's beauty is worth seeing more than once.

By Winter velvet flowers |

The scenery is very nice, and the water in Jiuzhaigou is unique in the world!

Pearl Beach, to put it crudely, is a very beautiful large water slide. When I went there, I had the urge to slide down.

Down from Wuhua Lake lies Pearl Beach, famous for being the setting for the filming of Journey to the West. The beach itself is quite unique. A clear stream flows through the bushes, stirring up tiny droplets of water, which is how the beach got its name. The waterfall that converges at Pearl Beach is truly spectacular. A single photo can't capture its beauty.

It is said that this is one of the filming locations of Journey to the West. The splashing water looks like pearls, hence the name.

Pearl Beach, located in Rizegou, is a shallow, gently sloping beach covered in various shrubs. Its surface is covered in milky-yellow calcified fossils. A trestle bridge spans the beach. The rapids flow beneath the bridge, stirring up countless bouncing water droplets that resemble pearls scattered across the beach. This is how the beach got its name.

By Flowers bloom sweetie |

The water is very clear, just like mineral water. The water flows very fast and it feels very cool when you walk by it.

By Kobemu |

The slope of Pearl Beach is steeper, the beach surface is more uneven, the waves are jumping, and the scene is more spectacular.

The scenic spot where the 1986 version of Journey to the West was filmed. The water flows under the plank road, and the sunlight shines on it, and it really looks like pearls.

Pearl Beach and Pearl Beach Waterfall are both the most important attractions in Jiuzhaigou. A must-see!

Very beautiful, worth recommending. You can see the photos I took, but the phone can't capture its beauty at all.

Jiuzhaigou is a beautiful place, just like a fairyland.

Because of the ground, when the water flows through here in the sunlight, it looks like pearls reflecting light, so it is called Pearl Beach.

By Autumn Shadow |

The most beautiful lake in Jiuzhaigou is Wuhua Lake, and the most beautiful waterfall in Jiuzhaigou is Pearl Beach Waterfall. Speaking of Pearl Beach, you may still remember the scene at the end of the old version of "Journey to the West" where "you carry the burden and I lead the horse." That scene was filmed at Pearl Beach.

By Bashan and Shushui |

Pearl Beach is a waterfall in Rizegou. The water here flows extremely fast, and the splashing water droplets, shining in the sunlight, truly live up to its name, "pearls," each one glittering and translucent. When photographing Pearl Beach, it's not recommended to use a slow shutter speed; instead, use a fast shutter speed to capture the splashing effect. The only way to reach Pearl Beach Waterfall is from the lower reaches, so only cars returning from the primeval forest stop here; cars ascending from Nuorilang do not stop there.

By Mars User |

Pearl Beach and Pearl Beach Waterfall are connected. The slope is gentle and the shallows are covered with various shrubs. The water flow is also quite large, rushing forward to form the spectacular Pearl Beach Waterfall.

By Cappuccino |

Pearl Beach, located at an altitude of 2,450 meters, is 189 meters long, 112 meters wide, and covers an area of 21,225 square meters. With an average slope of 20 degrees, it is a large calcified plateau. I consider this the most beautiful spot in Jiuzhaigou. The cascading water, splashing like pearls and jade, is almost unreal, almost sinister, and makes you want to jump in. If some beautiful scenery is beyond description, Pearl Beach is simply too beautiful to photograph.

By Rabbit |

Compared with the cascading waterfall, it is a unique semi-lying waterfall, worthy of being called Pearl Beach.

By ,blue |

It's very beautiful, the water is very clean, and the water splashes look like scattered pearls under the sunlight, hence the name?

By Little lemon ing~ |

The filming location of Journey to the West, you are still running in the winter.

The Pearl Sea is green. Generally speaking, it looks better in the morning than in the afternoon. The splashing water really looks like pearls. The sunlight makes it crystal clear and especially beautiful.

By Little Lazy |

The name Pearl Beach is right. When the weather is good, the splashing water feels like pearls falling. Whether you look at it from above or walk under the waterfall, it is incredibly beautiful.

Remember the scene in the opening credits of the TV series "Journey to the West" where Tang Sanzang and his disciples waded through the water with their horses? That was Pearl Beach.

About 0.5 kilometers downstream from Wuhua Lake, at the junction of Rize and Nanri gullies, lies a gently sloping shallow beach covered with various shrubs. Here, a stream about 100 meters long cascades down into the valley in multiple stages. The rapids splash countless water droplets on the sloping, uneven, milky-yellow calcified beach. In the sunlight, the droplets resemble pearls from a giant scallop. This is Pearl Beach. At an altitude of 2,433 meters, Pearl Beach is approximately 160 meters wide and covers an area of 95,000 square meters. It is a vast fan-shaped travertine flow, with clear water rushing across the pale yellow travertine beach. Because the current is slow and the beach is relatively flat, visitors can remove their boots and walk barefoot. Even more remarkable is that Pearl Beach is densely covered with light yellow moss, yet it is not slippery. Walking barefoot feels like stepping on a sponge. Pearl Beach is the spot where Tang Sanzang and his disciples ford the river in the opening credits of the TV series "Journey to the West." A trestle bridge spans Pearl Beach, with the water flowing underneath it, allowing visitors to cross the beach. A beautiful legend also circulates about Pearl Beach: long ago, a passing goddess fell in love with a Tibetan youth. The young man gave her a pearl necklace, and the goddess reciprocated with a mountain axe. The youth used the axe to dig a canal to divert water. Upon learning of this, the gods became enraged and sent soldiers to capture the goddess. They ripped the necklace from her neck, sending pearls cascading to the ground, transforming into the beautiful Pearl Beach.

Unfortunately, there was little sunshine when we went there, so the "pearl" feeling was not very strong.

The clear water flows through the smooth shallows, like pearls. Clusters of shrubs grow on the shallows, which are very beautiful. I think I should visit Jiuzhaigou once in my life to see its beauty.

Pearl Beach! We were already a bit exhausted by this point, and with the weather getting increasingly hot and the sun scorching, we were practically giving up (cowardly, hehe). Pearl Beach Waterfall was said to be the filming location for the 1986 version of Journey to the West. We went during the dry season, so it wasn't as spectacular.

By Thousand-Eyed Bodhi |

Pearl Beach is also my favorite type. I can't explain why, but I just like it.

Pearl Beach is where Tang Sanzang and his disciples waded through the water with their horses in the opening credits of the TV series Journey to the West. Even more beautiful is the Pearl Beach Waterfall.

My chartered driver said a trip to Jiuzhaigou without visiting Pearl Beach is a wasted trip! I agree! You absolutely have to see the ending credits scene from the 1984 version of Journey to the West, a location that has been a constant companion for generations of Chinese people! Pearl Beach boasts crystal-clear waters, and in winter, its natural ice sculptures create a unique spectacle.

The overall scenery of Pearl Beach is undoubtedly the best in Jiuzhaigou. Walk along the plank road from the upper Pearl Beach to the Pearl Beach Waterfall, and then go down to the bottom of the valley to enjoy the clear rapids along the way. The scenery along the way will definitely make you feel that the trip is worthwhile!

The water at Pearl Beach is shallow and crystal clear, with a yellow calcification layer at the bottom that seems to dye the water a beautiful yellow-green. In the sunlight, countless small water droplets dance forward, like crystal-clear pearls dancing happily on the water's surface.

Located in Rize Valley, downstream from Wuhua Lake, the stream flows through the vibrant Wuhua Lake and then through the Kongque River to a travertine beach. The waves stirred up by the current resemble pearls, hence the name Pearl Beach. The most scenic section of Jiuzhaigou is the stretch from Wuhua Lake to Pearl Waterfall, a must-see. A walk along the plank path takes about half an hour. Many scenes from Journey to the West were filmed at Pearl Beach, making it a truly reminiscent scene. If you're tired of the dazzling, colorful lakes of Jiuzhaigou, the refreshing Pearl Beach is a welcome addition.

Pearl Beach is all water and the area is very large.

By Karen Mok |

I went there in April, when the water volume was not at its highest. October is the most beautiful.

By heroed |

Pearl Beach is not as famous as its waterfall. After all, the film "Journey to the West" was filmed here. There is a plank road that provides a panoramic view of Pearl Beach. Of course, the waterfall is below the beach.

By iamdv |

The overwhelming tiny waves rolled away like broken beads.

By Xiao Hei |

The close distance is good, but it may not be as spectacular as imagined because it is not frozen in winter.

By Leans |
