Lijiang's Baishui River, located near Yunshanping in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area, is fed by the melting glaciers of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Its pristine waters, along with its riverbed and terraces of white marble and limestone, create a crystal-clear stream whose water appears white, hence the name Baishui River. It's said that the river's waters originate from the mouth of a jade dragon, imbued with spirituality, and are a sacred place for love.
Leaving Ganhaizi and continuing north for about 5 kilometers, you'll turn a corner and see a river flowing eastward from the snow-capped mountains. This is the Baishui River. After crossing the Baishui River Bridge, you can stop there and walk down the road to the right next to the bridge to reach the Baishui River.

The Baishui River Scenic Area is located near Yunshanping, a mountain stream at the eastern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, Yunnan. Formed by the melting glaciers of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the Baishui River cascades down the valley, its water a clear, dark green. Its bed, composed of deposited limestone fragments, is grayish-white, and the clear springs flowing through it give it the appearance of a white river from a distance, hence its name.
The Baishui River flows from the melting snow of the snow-capped mountains, which filters through the rock layers before gushing out as springs. Most tourists passing by Baishui River on their way from Lijiang to Yunshanping often visit it on the way, rather than making a special trip. Bus No. 7 takes you to the cable car's summit. The small cable car costs 42 yuan (including insurance), or 20 yuan one way. Alternatively, you can hike up and down the mountain.
The driver came to Shuhe Ancient Town to pick us up. He explained the tour in detail and spoke humorously. When we arrived at Yunshanping Blue Moon Valley, the scenery was very good. It was really beautiful to shoot the snow-capped mountains from the perspective of Blue Moon Valley. We had a delicious local chicken hot pot for lunch. The Glacier Park was very beautiful and it was a very happy travel experience.
Coming down from Yunshanping, you will come to Baishui River, two small waterfalls, and a rocky beach. Going further down, you will reach Blue Moon Valley.
The water at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is very clear
The Baishui River boasts pure, unpolluted water, and features white, step-like calcified rocks at the bottom left by mineral deposits. It's said the water originates from the Jade Dragon's mouth, imbued with spirituality, making it a haven for love.
Baishui River is Blue Moon Valley, located in a valley north of Ganhaizi and south of Yunshanping at the eastern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. On clear days, the water here is blue, and the valley takes on a crescent shape. From a distance, it resembles a blue moon set at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, hence the name Blue Moon Valley. The mud at the bottom of the lake is white, and the water turns white when it rains, hence the name Baishui River. The breathtaking Blue Moon Valley absorbs the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. Cascading waterfalls flow gracefully from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the sound of flowing water echoing throughout the valley. Butterflies dance, eagles soar, and fish swim, creating a breathtaking landscape painting.
The Baishui River is also very beautiful. Along the Baishui River, there are many places that rent ethnic minority costumes.
This is Blue Moon Valley.
The beautiful scenery in the Blue Moon Valley under the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most beautiful section of the Baishui River. The water terraces are really pleasing to the eye.
The beautiful mountain streams and calcified blue lakes along the way are refreshing. The Baishui River has a drop here, forming a small waterfall, which attracts many people to take pictures!
Baishui River and Blue Moon Valley are great attractions. They are known as the Little Jiuzhaigou and live up to their reputation.
There are many tourists by the river, and groups of tourists can be seen everywhere wearing standard maroon down jackets and holding oxygen tanks. In fact, the riverside can only be said to be cool, and short-sleeved shirts and shorts are also very comfortable under the sun.
Milky white mud settles on the riverbed, illuminating the blue sky and clear water, creating a scene resembling blue gems inlaid at the foot of the mountain. Melted ice from the snow-capped mountains flows continuously into the river, forming numerous waterfalls of varying sizes. From afar, the lush green mountains and clear water create a fairyland-like scene.
The cool breeze and boundless beauty couldn't withstand the scorching sun, so sunscreen was a must, or you'd be completely covered in charcoal after just one lap. The river was crowded, and capturing a deserted scene required both the photographer and the subject to employ challenging poses.
Baishui River has Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake, Blue Moon Lake and Tingtao Lake, which are very clear and not polluted at all. The water here is all the accumulated water from the melted glaciers on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Because there is a layer of chemical substances at the bottom of the lake, the water we see is blue-green, which is very magical. If it rains, you will see white. Many people take wedding photos here.
It is said that if you wash your hands in Baishui River for the first time, you will get promoted and rich, the second time you will be healthy, the third time you will have good luck in love, and the fourth time you will get pregnant.
Next to the Blue Moon Valley, nature naturally formed
You can tell by the looks of it; the riverbed and terraces are made of off-white marble, etc., and the water also appears white when it flows quickly.
Blue Moon Valley was formerly known as "White Water River." On sunny days, the water is blue, and the crescent-shaped valley looks like a blue moon set at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, hence the name Blue Moon Valley. The name "White Water River" comes from the white mud at the bottom of the lake, which turns white when it rains.
The water here is of natural color. Besides crystal clear, is there any other word to describe it?
There is no grandeur, only elegance.
Baishui River has now been renamed Blue Moon Valley, a more artistic and sentimental name. The scenery is quite beautiful, but the best part is fenced off, likely for landform protection. The water is truly a brilliant blue, incredibly clear. It's said to be the legendary Third Kingdom of the Jade Dragon, but many places in Yunnan claim to be. This "fairyland" moniker is quite popular...
The natural flowing water stone steps form a unique landscape in the valley. There are traditional costumes for rent nearby, so you can take retro photos.
Yunnan has always been a place that people yearn for. I am very glad that I chose this place when I first decided to travel far away.
Located inside Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang, next to Yunshanping, this lake is formed by the flow of snow from the mountain. The water is very clear. The lake gets its name from the white color of the riverbed, which makes it look like a white river. It's located next to Blue Moon Valley, a more recent addition.
In Yulong Snow Mountain, Baishui River is much inferior to that in Ganhaizi.
Baishuitai is closest to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The water here is blue and green. The blue water appears deep and wise, while the green water appears elegant and clean. There is also the beautiful Baishuitai, which is very, very beautiful. It gives you a suffocating feeling and can truly be called the Little Jiuzhaigou in Yunnan.
The cable car ride to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain requires a reservation, and the tour group will first take you to Blue Moon Valley. The attraction feels a bit like a smaller Jiuzhaigou or Little Huanglong, but it's still relatively underdeveloped and feels like it's just getting started, with many areas still installing wooden plank roads. The scenery in Blue Moon Valley is quite stunning. Meltwater from the snowy mountains flows here, and due to the accumulation of calcified deposits, the water surface appears blue and green, reflecting the blue sky. It's truly stunning! Worth a visit!
The glacier water flowing down from the snow-capped mountains is very clear and the scenery is beautiful. I must recommend it!
The Baishui River flows down from the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, rushing towards the Blue Moon Valley with beautiful scenery all the way.
(The Baishui River gets its name from the white mud at the bottom of the river, which turns the water white when it rains.)
The Baishui River in Lijiang, Yunnan is a free attraction at the foot of Jade Dragon Mountain.
2016-04: The ice and snow from the snow-capped glaciers melted and flowed downstream, constantly converging and eventually forming this crystal clear river in the deep valley upstream of the Blue Moon Valley. Because the riverbed is composed of white limestone, it is named "White Water River". When it rains, the water in the Blue Moon Valley appears white.
I personally prefer the spot where the photo below was taken. It's at the very upper reaches of the Baishui River, closest to the snow-capped mountains, and relatively sparsely populated. The lake is shallow, and you can touch the white sand below, which is very fine and clean. The blue water is framed by a white edge, and paired with the trees on both sides and the snow-capped mountains in the distance, it's very beautiful.
Together with the Blue Moon Valley, it is very beautiful, with a taste of small Jiuzhaigou
You must wash your hands thoroughly when you come here, because washing once brings luck in career, washing twice brings wealth, and washing three times brings luck in love. Well, I was supposed to wash my hands, but I ended up going too far. It seems to be listening to the one in front, in front of Blue Moon Lake. Anyway, don't go too far like I did.
This is definitely an unexpected surprise~ It is a small Jiuzhaigou. The river water formed by the melting snow from the snow mountain after filtering through multiple layers of rocks is very clear and blue. It is beautiful.
Xiangshui River...it really lives up to its name, and I walked around the river again and again...
Very beautiful, worth a visit...
There are many geological formations formed by water flow in the upper reaches of the Baishui River. They look like cakes made of flat stone slabs. It is very beautiful. The water quality looks a bit blue and green from a distance, but it is transparent and colorless when you look closely. Even the white sand at the bottom of the water can be seen clearly.
The scenery is beautiful. I signed up for a one-day tour of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is at the foot of the mountain and several attractions are very close. It is very good, but the time is a little rushed.
Baishui River is at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain. It seems like the first stop when you go down the mountain. The lake water is clear and the scenery is picturesque.
The Baishui River is mainly composed of meltwater from snow-capped mountains. It has beautiful scenery and brilliant colors, and is known as the Little Jiuzhaigou.
Because the cable car to the snow mountain starts at 12 noon, we arrived at Baishui River around 10 am. It was a great day and it was so beautiful!
Clear, soft and amazing, also known as Blue Moon Valley.
There is a deep valley with dense forests and a clear stream flowing through it.
The river water flows down from the melted snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From a distance, the river water appears sapphire blue and crystal clear, but it is also icy cold.
Baishui River, formed by the melting glaciers of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, cascades down the valley. Its water is clear, dark green. Its bed is composed of deposited limestone fragments, giving it a grayish-white color. With springs flowing through it, it looks like a white river from a distance, hence its name. It is said that the water of Baishui River originates from the mouth of the Jade Dragon, imbued with spirituality, and is also a sacred place for love.
Baishui River is actually the current Blue Moon Valley Scenic Area. I think this is the most beautiful scenic area in Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
The color this time is not as good as the first time.
I heard it is especially beautiful after the rain.

It is connected to the Blue Moon Valley. If you don't go to the top of the snow mountain, you don't need to pack down here.
If you pass by on your way to the snow-capped mountains, you can go and have a look.
Baishui River and Blue Moon Valley are actually located together, both at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. From Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you can take a cable car or a scenic bus directly up the mountain to Blue Moon Valley. This scenic area is quite large, with the Baishui River above and Blue Moon Valley below. The water that settles to the bottom of the lake appears blue, but it's actually very clear and unpolluted. The water is meltwater from the glaciers on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and a layer of chemicals at the bottom of the lake contributes to the blue color. The tour guide explained that the scenic spot is named Baishui River because of the white rocky bottom over which the water flows. Regarding transportation: If you're visiting Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you'll usually visit this attraction on your way down. If you're coming from Lijiang, you can visit Baishui River on the way to Yunshanping, so you don't need to make a special trip. Bus No. 7 takes you to the top of the cable car. The small cable car costs 42 yuan (including insurance), or 20 yuan one-way. You can also hike up and down, which isn't very far.
The three attractions are connected, and you can walk from bottom to top or from top to bottom, it only takes a few minutes.
Baishui River, formed by the melting glaciers of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, cascades down the valley, its water clear and dark green. Its riverbed, composed of deposited limestone fragments, is grayish-white, and the springs flowing through it give it the appearance of a white river from a distance, hence its name. It's said that the water of Baishui River originates from the mouth of the Jade Dragon, imbued with spirituality. It is also a sacred place for Naxi love. During the rainy season (July to September), when the water flows strongly, the whiter the river becomes. Many couples take wedding photos here. It's a 20-minute walk from the entrance, so it's not far away and can be seen from the eco-friendly vehicles on the way. Along the way, you can admire this emerald spring nestled among the trees.
The Baishui River is very beautiful. Photographers generally like to take pictures here. The tour guide said not to take pictures of the yaks in the water because they charge according to the steps the yaks take, not the time they take the ride. If you want the yaks to walk a little closer to the water, then be prepared to pay RMB~~~
It is a deep valley with dense forests, a clear stream flowing through it, and a clear spring river flowing through it at the bottom of the valley.
The water of Baishui River is spring water that is filtered through rock layers after the snow on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain melts. The water is clear, sweet and icy cold.
Because the scenic area is very large, the sightseeing bus fee is included in the tour price. We chose to take the sightseeing bus to tour, which was very beautiful.
Baishui River is what people often call the Blue Moon Valley. It is mainly composed of 4 lakes. It is very beautiful. Even if you have seen the waters of Jiuzhaigou and Lugu Lake, you will still be moved by it.
The whole journey is not long, no need to spend 50 to take a sightseeing bus
It is mainly composed of meltwater from snow-capped mountains. It has beautiful scenery and brilliant colors. It is known as the Little Jiuzhaigou. You can appreciate the natural snow lake formed by the melting ice and snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
The other is the Baishui River, which is formed by the melting glaciers and snow water of Yulong Snow Mountain. It cascades down the valley and the water is clear and dark green.
The locals say that the water of Baishui River brings good luck, one that brings career luck, two that brings wealth, and three that brings romantic luck. Unfortunately, due to the large number of people, I couldn't squeeze to the water's edge and could only watch as a group of people gathered there.
The melted ice and snow of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain converge into a river, forming the White Water River. The most essential part of the White Water River is called Blue Moon Valley, which is divided into four lakes.
As the sunset glow faded, the islands and riverbanks between the winding Yellow and White Rivers, hailed by Chinese and foreign scientists as "majestic phantoms in the universe," came into view. The afterglow of the setting sun shone with a captivating radiance...
The lake water here is blue, different from the sky blue. The Baishui River should have been mentioned in many travel notes. The water is white in the rainy season and blue at other times. It is super beautiful, and it feels more beautiful than Lugu Lake. It is a beautiful girl next door, like a painting, which makes people intoxicated.
The banks of the Baishui River are covered with gravel and wild flowers on the hillside. Instead of taking an electric car to the next destination, it is better to walk along the Baishui River and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
The package I bought to go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain includes this attraction. There is a scenic area transportation, so you don’t need to walk much. It’s a beautiful place. You can take pictures with ethnic costumes.
Baishui River, also known as the "Blue Moon Valley," is fed by the melting glaciers of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It cascades down the valley, its water clear and dark green, while its grayish-white color is due to the riverbed's sedimentary limestone fragments. Springs flow through it, giving it the appearance of a white river from a distance, hence the name. Baishui River is a sacred place for love, and legend has it that its waters originate from the mouth of a jade dragon and possess spiritual power. We had to rush to see "Impression of Lijiang" on time, so we had no time to relax! With Fat Jinmei leading us, we quickly toured the area, not even getting to properly savor the beautiful scenery or say goodbye. So sad!
P.S.: Actually, this place is known as "Little Jiuzhaigou". Those who go there later can experience it carefully.
The first section of Baishui River always attracts a large number of tourists to take photos. It is said that renting a set of ethnic costumes costs 20 yuan.
From Shanaokou, you can cross the snow-capped mountains to the Baishui River, where the water is melted snow and flows all the way to Lijiang City. It is almost the lifeblood of Lijiang City.
This is the source of the Baishui River, all the way to the ancient city, and the ancient city was built in one go according to local conditions.
Baishui River. Although I have never been to Jiuzhaigou, the scenery in front of me was enough to surprise me. I have never seen such clear meltwater from snow mountains. The translucent color is refreshing.
There was a place to rent ethnic costumes nearby. I felt very fresh at that time, so I rented a set and took photos with my bestie. Other tourists I didn’t know also took photos with us, and this is what I got.
Standing by the Baishui River, with the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain shrouded in white clouds behind you, the breathtaking scenery resembles a beautiful oil painting. The Baishui River, formed from melted snow from Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, flows all the way here. Its crystal-clear waters, flowing through the white rocky riverbed, appear even purer and whiter, hence the name Baishui River.
The water of Baishui River comes from the meltwater of plateau glaciers at an altitude of more than 4,000 meters. The streams and waterfalls along the river are cascading, and the river water is clear and transparent.
Blue Moon Valley is also known as the White Water River. The water turns white after rain, so when we visited, we saw the authentic White Water River. After the dry season, the water is said to be very clear, earning it the nickname "Little Jiuzhaigou."
The water of Baishui River flows down from the snow-capped mountains. The water is emerald green, and the abundant sunlight makes the water surface sparkle with golden light, like a huge emerald.
August should be the season with the most water, right? But when I went there, the water was all dry... I always think it has something to do with overdevelopment
Baishui River is located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Lijiang. It is formed by the melted snow water flowing into it and the minerals contained in the geology.
The Baishui River is adjacent to the Moon Valley. The water in the river is also white, which is very unique.
The Baishui River and the Blue Moon Valley are together. The white is beautiful and the blue is clear. Ride a yak for a walk. Isn’t it a paradise on earth?
Walking up the river valley, you will see the artificial waterfall formed by the damming of the river, the beautiful scenery composed of blue sky, white clouds, snow-capped mountains, lake water, autumn leaves and dead branches, a colorful wonderland. The beautiful scenery is reflected in the pool water, and the spruce in the water stands alone in the water. Walking along the river valley through Yunshanping, this is what the Baishui River looks like, as if milk is poured into the blue lake water. There are many tourists along the Baishui River. In my memory, there used to be a white yak in the middle of the Baishui River for people to take pictures. The emerald lake water, the emerald green lake water, seems green and blue, mixed into the blue sea of milk. Thanks to this dam, a wonderland has been created.
