The sacred mountain in the hearts of the Naxi people, with its main peak, Shanzidou, about 5,596 meters above sea level, is surrounded by clouds and mist all year round and is an unconquered virgin peak.
It consists of 12 snow-capped peaks, and the snow-capped mountains are rich in natural tourism resources, which can be divided into snow areas, glaciers, alpine meadows, and virgin forest landscapes.
The snow-capped mountains are majestic, exquisite and beautiful. With the change of seasons, the azaleas that bloom in sequence at different heights form the most beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains.
The scenic area includes Yushui Village, Glacier Park, Blue Moon Valley and other attractions. There will also be a large-scale live performance of "Impression of Lijiang" on the Blue Moon Valley Square.

1. There is no bus from the ancient city to the snow mountain, so you have to take a black car. I booked a ride with Didi the night before, but the driver stopped at a store and asked me to buy oxygen cylinders and cotton clothes. After I refused to buy, he asked me to get off the car. This guy is a repeat offender, see the screenshot.
2. Round trip taxi 200 + ticket 100 + cableway 120 + cotton clothes 50 + eco-friendly car 20 = 490 for the snowy mountain that cannot be reached
Yulong Snow Mountain is still worth a visit. The weather in the mountains changes greatly, so you must get up early. We set off from the ancient city at 7:30 in the morning and arrived at the bus queue at more than 8 o'clock. We finally got on the bus and had to queue up for the cable car at the foot of the snow mountain. The cable car queued for about an hour. It happened that the weather was bad. After the cable car got off, the plank road was not fully open, and only a short climb to the top. Although I started to inhale oxygen as soon as I got on the bus to prevent altitude sickness, I still had a slight reaction when I climbed the plank road after getting off the cable car. My breathing became heavier and my head was a little dizzy. It was also a little difficult to walk. The symptoms were not serious, so it did not affect my walking. The plank road was closed, so I didn't stay on the mountain for too long. I walked from the open station to one side to the other side and started to go down the mountain. When I went down the mountain to the cable car station at about 11 o'clock, I found that the queue was larger than before, but the weather on the mountain turned worse and there was fog, which would probably affect the environmental experience. Therefore, I must climb early, which was also reflected in the later trip to Cangshan Mountain in Dali. After coming down from Yulong Snow Mountain, it is recommended to go back to the bus departure station to have lunch, and then take the bus to Blue Moon Valley. Although you have to take an extra bus, you don’t need to buy a ticket again, but you can eat a full meal and take a rest before hiking, which will be more conducive to the subsequent itinerary. It is worth mentioning that the Snow Kitchen buffet is very surprising, clean and sanitary, with many varieties and good taste. This is the best fast food I have ever eaten in the scenic area.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain! It was closed for maintenance on the 18th. I booked the cableway to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on China-TravelNote on the 17th! I felt so lucky! It snowed heavily the day before I went up the mountain, and the snow on the snow mountain was very deep! I anticipated all kinds of situations after going up the mountain, and I took my children and the elderly with me to be brave! After reaching 4506, the strong wind and heavy snow made me a little scared. The altitude reaction made me feel dizzy. I took a photo and came down! Blue Moon Valley is very beautiful under the sun
Sunday, February 10, 2019, is the sixth day of the Chinese New Year and the last day of the national statutory holiday.
I drove from Shuanglang Ancient Town to Yulong Snow Mountain at about 10 a.m. The two places are not far apart, only 166 kilometers, and a two-hour drive. I was not far from the entrance of the scenic spot at 1 p.m.
When we were approaching the gate of Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area, we were stopped by security personnel along the way and told to leave, saying that the tickets for the scenic area were sold out, and asked us to turn around and leave the scenic area. (That day was the last day of the national holiday!)
I didn't know much about the tour of the scenic spot at that time, so I was kicked out without knowing what was going on. It was just 1pm, and the security guard told me to come back early tomorrow.
Today is a working day for the country, and I slept until I woke up naturally.
Because the hotel is very close to the scenic spot, I was not in a hurry. I arrived at the gate of the scenic spot just after 9 o'clock in the morning and queued in the divided lanes.
The closer we got to the gate, the more staff members gathered around the car. Finally, a man and a woman came up to me and said that the cable car tickets for the main cableway of the scenic area were sold out. Should we still enter the scenic area?
It was just past 9 o'clock!
All right, come in! Is Blue Moon Valley okay?
That's no problem, no need to take the cable car.
After that, I paid 100 in cash, and he handed me a ticket from the girl behind me. What's interesting is that there was a stamp on the ticket saying "Notified that the ropeway tickets are sold out."
After driving through this gate, I drove a short distance, about 5 or 6 kilometers, and was driven into a temporary yellow earth parking lot. At that time, I had been stuck in traffic for quite a while, so I was happy to park early and walk forward. In fact, there were 3 or 4 regular parking lots ahead, and they were probably full.
After parking the car, I walked to the Yulong Snow Mountain Tourist Service Center. It took about 10 minutes to walk to the tourist center and then I was ready to take the scenic bus to the "Blue Moon Valley".
There are many ticket windows in the visitor center, some selling tickets for Yunshanping, some selling tickets for Yakniuping, and some selling tickets for Blue Moon Valley (cable car tickets or bus tickets).
The round-trip bus ticket to Blue Moon Valley is 20 yuan, which is quite reasonable.
The main cable car tickets for Yulong Snow Mountain were sold out, so I didn't have to worry about it. Emphysema was a big psychological burden on me, not to mention that I was single and far away from home. Even if I didn't have altitude sickness, I, a northerner, would have some discomfort with the climate, right? This time, I couldn't go up even if I wanted to, and I couldn't wait another day.
Why I love this place so much? I just want to experience what it feels like to have altitude sickness. With this idea in mind, I must step on the snow. Make your body unforgettable. Of course, this experience is worth 340 yuan. From the Spring Festival to the eighth day of the first lunar month, I had the opportunity to get a ticket for individual tourists. I am really lucky. It is worth waiting for you for four days!
I found a small group in the local area and set off to Yulong Snow Mountain in the morning. On the way, I met a group of friends.... Yulong Snow Mountain is more than 4,000 meters above sea level. Uh, it's a bit hypoxic, haha, but you can still take pictures. Wow, a group of Northeastern men took off their shirts to take pictures together, and also ran to take pictures to join in the fun...
Yulong Snow Mountain is a group of snow-capped mountains in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It is located between 100°4′2″-100°16′30″ east longitude and 27°3′2″~27°18′57″ north latitude, about 15 kilometers north of Lijiang. It is 75 kilometers long and is the closest mountain range to the equator in the northern hemisphere with snow all year round. It is separated from Zhongdian Snow Mountain in the west and parallel to Mianmian Mountain in the east. It extends from Sanjiangkou in the north to 27° north latitude in the south, like a fan opening to the ancient city. The 13 peaks of the mountain are arranged vertically from south to north. The highest point of the main peak, Fanzidou, is 5,596 meters above sea level. It is covered with snow all year round and has developed temperate marine glaciers closest to the equator in the Eurasian continent.
Yulong Snow Mountain is called "Oulu" in Naxi language, which means "Heavenly Mountain". Its thirteen snow peaks are continuous, just like a "dragon" flying and dancing, so it is called "Yulong". Because its rock type is mainly limestone and basalt, with distinct black and white, it is also called "Black and White Snow Mountain". It is the sacred mountain of the Naxi people. Legend has it that it is the incarnation of "Sanduo", the patron saint of the Naxi people.
In 1984, the Yunnan Yulong Snow Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve was established. In 2001, Yulong Snow Mountain was rated as a 4A-level tourist attraction, and in May 2007 it became one of the first 5A-level tourist attractions in the country.
The main developed tourist attractions (spots) in Yulong Snow Mountain include: Glacier Park, Ganhaizi, Blue Moon Valley, Yunshanping, Yaoniuping, etc.
There are 59 major wild economic animals recorded in Yulong Snow Mountain, including 57 species of 8 orders, 21 families, 42 genera and 47 species of mammals. They are mostly distributed at high altitudes and in places with few human traces, with the characteristics of many species and small numbers. Among them, 25 rare and endangered animals are under national key protection, including 4 first-class national protected animals: Yunnan snub-nosed monkey, leopard, clouded leopard, and green-tailed pheasant; second-class protected animals include: macaque, black bear, red panda, stone marten, large civet, small civet, serow (wild donkey, Sumatran serow), goral (blue sheep), blue sheep (blue sheep), musk deer, forest musk deer, musk deer, Tibetan pheasant, white pheasant, red-bellied tragopan, golden cat, pangolin, otter, tufted deer, white-bellied pheasant, parrot 21 species.
1. If you are traveling with the elderly, it is recommended to sign up for a one-day tour group, which is convenient and saves trouble. Because the cost of a group tour and a free tour from the ancient city to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is basically the same, and there is actually plenty of time~
2. There are half-price or free discounts for tickets to Yulong Snow Mountain, but it’s only for tickets, not for the cable car.
It is not recommended to go to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain by yourself during the peak season, because it is really hard to get a ticket. The tickets are sold out in a short time after 7 o'clock.
Whether you need to buy oxygen depends on your actual situation. It is recommended to prepare a bottle just in case. I took a few puffs when I took the cable car, but I didn't need it anymore. I slowly climbed to the top of the mountain~
Don't rush when climbing. Walk up slowly and adjust your breathing. Fast walking or running can easily cause shortness of breath.
Yulong Snow Mountain is at a high altitude. It is very cold and windy on the mountain. You usually need to wear a down jacket. If you find it troublesome, you can rent one directly at the foot of the snow mountain. In addition, you must bring gloves! Otherwise, you may not be able to hold your phone or camera steady~
Ultraviolet rays are very strong, so you must wear sunscreen! I went out early in the morning and forgot to apply it. I regretted it so much. When I went back in the afternoon, I found that my forehead and cheeks were red and hot, and they were completely dark. Also, it is easy to get snow blindness if you look at the snow for a long time on the snowy mountain. The sunlight is dazzling and not good for your eyes, so you must wear sunglasses!
I finally received a confirmation SMS for the tickets I booked on the WeChat official website. My friend told me that I must go to the snow mountain early in the morning, otherwise there will be too many people! I even called to ask if I could go alone, and the reply said no, the ticket is with the driver. The ticket is with the driver, but there is no need to use a paper ticket for inspection. You can just swipe your ID card throughout the whole process. The oxygen cylinder is even more expensive. I believed his lies! One oxygen cylinder is enough for two people, and more is a waste.
First, we lined up to take the scenic area's eco-friendly car to the cableway entrance, then lined up for the cable car security check, and then went in to wait for the cable car. You never know how many people are in front of you and how long you have to wait... Anyway, you just wait, wait forever, and line up until the sky is dark. God will not let down those who work hard. Finally, when I was about to lose my temper, I got on the big cableway at 11 o'clock... The cableway was very fast, and it reached an altitude of 4506 in a short time. In order to avoid the legendary altitude sickness, we took a few puffs of itching. The girl on the cable car said that she felt tinnitus, but I didn't feel it. It varies from person to person.
The cable car went up to 4506. There were many people on the viewing platform, but not many people actually reached the summit, as they gave up because they knew it was difficult.
It is strongly recommended not to choose jumping movements. It will make you feel uncomfortable after jumping. Don't torture yourself if you have nothing to do.
Finally we reached the summit. We had to queue up to take photos from the front, but it was fine to take photos from the side. The two girls didn't finish their oxygen bottles, and many people didn't finish them either. Prevention is the key to high sickness, so don't be too anxious.
Climbing the Yulong Snow Mountain is very hard, and some people may not be able to reach the top due to physical reasons. It is a slightly challenging sport, but the sense of accomplishment after reaching the top is great.
Yulong Snow Mountain contains a lot of minerals, which are washed into the valley by rainwater and appear blue in aqueous solution. It is precisely because there are too many minerals that Yulong Snow Mountain has very little vegetation, and the higher you go up to the higher altitude, the more bare it is.
On the way to Yulong Snow Mountain, we will see a magical scene: there are no clouds in other places, but Yulong Snow Mountain is always surrounded by clouds. The locals regard it as a sign of good fortune for Yulong Snow Mountain, and Yulong Snow Mountain is their "holy mountain".
With cold-proof clothing, oxygen and Snickers, we went to the cableway to queue up. The climb was smooth and the queue time was not long. After going down the tunnel, we did not feel uncomfortable. There was about a thousand meters left to go back to the top. After climbing a few steps, we were out of breath and exhausted. After a short rest, we regained our energy. We walked, rested, took photos and watched the scenery until we reached the top. It was not cold when we went there. When we reached the top of the mountain in our woolen coat, we were sweating a little. There were people wearing short sleeves taking photos at the top. But as the sun went down, it gradually became colder. The sweat on the soles of my feet seemed to freeze and it was cold.
It is strongly recommended that comrades with oxygen should not use it vigorously when going up the mountain. If you can recover your strength by resting, do not use oxygen. Because most people experience altitude sickness when they are queuing for the cable car down the mountain. In addition, the altitude is high and there are crowds. Some people cannot get oxygen and experience altitude sickness. It is not recommended to go to the snowy mountains alone. Don't be too confident. No one knows what will happen. You always have to cherish your life. Especially at the corner of the stairs, the oxygen content is very low, so you must be prepared. Maybe it's because of my usual exercise, the oxygen I brought was almost useless, and I didn't use the Snickers, so I came down safely (proud face).
There are three cable cars to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, commonly known as the big cable car, the middle cable car and the small cable car. The end point of the big cable car is the highest of the three, but unfortunately I didn’t get a ticket for the big cable car.
The other two cableways were not much different, so we just took the small one. We were not very lucky. It snowed heavily the day before we went there, and the road for the electric car was slippery due to too much snow, so the staff spent a lot of time clearing the snow on the road. Although I understood it in my heart, it was still not pleasant to wait for the electric car in the cold wind of more than ten degrees below zero.
I feel that the scenery at the end of the cable car is just so-so, but when going down the mountain, we passed by the Blue Moon Valley, where the scenery is beautiful and has a Jiuzhaigou style, which is suitable for taking pictures.
When we arrive at the tourist reception center at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the tour guide will give everyone winter clothing and handheld oxygen cylinders. The oxygen cylinders are about the same size as the mosquito repellent bottles we use.
Yulong Snow Mountain is a 5A scenic spot. I have been to many 5A scenic spots, but I feel that the supporting facilities and management here are the best among the 5A ones.
We took the cable car up the mountain, and then climbed the trail. Panting, I could clearly feel my heartbeat speeding up. I took in some oxygen and it felt a little effective. I gritted my teeth and climbed to the end platform of the trail at an altitude of 4,680 meters. Looking back, the mountains were behind me. Life is like climbing a mountain. When you are about to give up, hold on a little, and your life will reach a new height. How many people can have this kind of persistence?
There are four main scenic spots in the scenic area. One is the snow mountain itself, also called the Glacier Park; one is the Blue Moon Valley at the foot of the mountain, for viewing the water; there is also a Yak Flat and a Spruce Flat, which are said to be mountaintop grasslands where you can see more distinctive landscapes. However, I have not been to these two attractions so I don’t know what they are like.
To go up to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, you need to take a long cable car, and you need to take an eco-friendly car in the scenic area. The tickets, cable car tickets, visitor center, eco-friendly car station, etc. are not in the same place. In short, it is very chaotic. If you don't sign up for a tour group and have someone to guide you, the experience will probably not be very good. However, after taking the cable car, I feel that everything is worth it.
The scenery on the cableway is very nice. It goes up from the coniferous forest at an altitude of more than 3,000 meters. At a certain line, the forest suddenly disappears, replaced by rugged rocks and white snow. The distance from the cableway to the ground varies from the height of a tree to the distance of several floors. The shadow passing over the snow is sometimes close and sometimes far. After about ten minutes, we arrived at the observation deck at an altitude of 4,506 meters.
There is about 100 meters vertical height from the observation deck reached by the cable car to the highest point of the plank road. Most people will bring a small bottle of oxygen to walk this section of the road. There may be slight altitude sickness, but it is not a big problem as long as you don't run too fast.
It takes about an hour to walk this distance. It will be easy to go down the mountain. The main difficulty is to go up the mountain. The scenery on the snow mountain is monotonous. People who like it will like it very much. People who don’t like it will take a photo at 4860 and then go down. However, cold, sun and strong wind are all problems that need to be paid attention to. It is not recommended to stay on the top of the mountain for too long.
Overall, I think this place is worthy of being a 5A scenic spot. It is indeed beautiful. The tour fee is about 400+, which is worth the money. I took a lot of photos, but I couldn't remember the surprise and enjoyment of the scene.
For those of us who were traveling independently for the first time in Yulong Snow Mountain, it was really confusing to look at the map. The first problem we encountered was that the parking lots near the bus stop and the cable car were full... Off-season! Wednesday! Noon! I didn't expect that we still couldn't find a parking space even if we added up these three periods.
Question 2: How to choose different transportation for the same attractions marked on the map? We also know it after playing...
You need to fill in your ID number when buying tickets, which means you need your ID card to swipe in. Fortunately, I brought it with me... The cable car slowly rises, and the surroundings gradually turn white. Looking down through the cable car, there is a hiking trail leading directly to the top of the mountain. It takes a very capable person to climb up there by yourself.
Yulong Snow Mountain, the snow mountain closest to the city, has experienced a rise in the snow line, a retreat of the glacier tongue and a reduction in the area of glaciers in recent years due to global warming. It has suddenly gained a sense of crisis, just like the news some time ago that the Blue Hole in Malta collapsed and will never exist again. So if you want to see the scenery, you'd better go there as soon as possible and don't wait until it disappears before you regret it.
I had never been to a place with high altitude before, so I was a little worried about altitude sickness. But after a day, I didn't feel any discomfort.
After we got our down jackets, oxygen bottles and water from the transfer station near the village at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, the driver told us that the road ahead would be straight up. Looking to the left of the car, we could clearly see the snow-capped mountains.
At the foot of the snow-capped mountains, the wind seemed stronger and sharper than in the ancient city, making my head ache a little.
It seemed that before I had time to feel the majesty and coldness of the snow-capped mountains, I was enveloped by the warm sunshine.
After a short stay in the parking lot, I finally put on my winter clothes after some hesitation. Unexpectedly, I felt stuffy after climbing the mountain. I couldn't say it was hot, but I wasn't cold either. The winter clothes were so heavy that they almost weighed me down, but maybe that was just a small excuse for my slowness.
TIPS: The highest peak of Yulong Snow Mountain is Fanzidou, but no one has climbed up there so far. The highest point we usually reach is 4,680 meters above sea level. Don't take oxygen until you feel uncomfortable, take it in advance and you can also take oxygen when you stop to rest. It's not as cold as you think on the snow mountain. It's really hot if there is direct sunlight. The wind on the snow mountain is very strong. If you don't protect yourself from the wind, you will easily get a headache, like us. If you go to the snow mountain, be sure to choose a sunny day. Although it is very sunny and windy, it is really beautiful.
Recommended play time: half a day
Recommendation index: 5 stars
You need to buy a ticket before entering the parking lot, and students can enjoy half price. The parking lot is not far from the entrance of the cableway, and it takes about five or six minutes to walk. After the Naxi sister got the ticket for us, we went in directly. We needed to use our ID card to check the ticket. The altitude of the cableway is already 3356 meters, but our group did not feel uncomfortable.
You can take photos after entering, and you can collect the photos when you go down the mountain after getting the receipt (not sure if you need to pay extra). But I didn't think about it when I came down, so I just left the photos there.
The cable car takes about 10-15 minutes and goes straight up, which saves hikers a lot of trouble of climbing up.
As soon as you step out of the cable car platform, the altitude rises directly to 4506 meters. So you must breathe oxygen on the cable car, and you can breathe seven or eight times (usually one group is about two or three seconds, the tour guide will teach you in advance; if that doesn't work, just look at the guide on the oxygen bottle and breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth).
There are chocolates for sale at the Yulong Snow Mountain Cableway, and they are very expensive... If you really need them, you can buy them outside in advance...
Tips for climbing snow mountains: (highlight the key points!)
First, oxygen cylinders are really useful. Many people cannot climb to the top due to lack of oxygen in the plateau, and you need to take a few puffs of oxygen cylinders when riding the cable car.
Second, prepare a few pieces of chocolate to eat while waiting in line before taking the cable car, and they are also needed when climbing the mountain;
Third, if you still feel uncomfortable while climbing, you can eat some snow! Yes, snow!
This photo was taken not long after I got off the cable car. I climbed up to the highest point step by step along this plank road. I was really stunned by the scenery at that time. It was so beautiful!
My mother and I are about to reach the highest point. What you need most along the way is perseverance. If you feel uncomfortable, you can sit down and rest for a while. After a few minutes, you can continue to climb. Although my mother kept saying that she didn't want to climb anymore, I kept encouraging her, saying, "Mom, look, we are about to reach the top!" "Mom, you are great!" Then my mother persisted to the highest point!
It was really exciting to see the five-star red flag on the platform at the highest altitude. In other words, no matter where we see our five-star red flag, we will feel a sense of pride!
The excitement of the snow-capped mountains made us get up early at six o'clock and set off immediately! The itinerary was arranged in advance on China-TravelNote. The driver called to tell us that we could go out when we waited on the roadside. The whole journey was an off-road vehicle, which was comfortable and safe. The driver was also a tour guide. Solving the transportation and tickets, etc., will avoid a lot of troubles. Therefore, everyone should make an appointment online in advance before traveling, and be sure to find a reliable merchant. After passing Ganhaizi, we entered the Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area. There were many buses at the parking lot, so there was no need to queue. The scenery was really beautiful. The blue lakes and snow-capped mountains nestled under the blue sky. The great rivers and mountains of the motherland were vividly and magnificently presented. The peerless beauty was just like this. In the afternoon, we took the cable car up the mountain. After lunch, we waited at a fixed location for the bus to the scenic area. There were many people, so the queue was also very long. When we arrived at the destination, we received down jackets, oxygen, and necessary sunglasses. The sun would be particularly dazzling when we reached the top of the mountain, and the snow at high altitudes would reflect the sunlight, so you had to prepare your own sunglasses. If you want to go to the top of the mountain, you have to climb a steep wooden ladder. A little exercise at a high altitude will make you particularly breathless, and a few breaths of oxygen will be fine. Therefore, you must bring a bottle of oxygen, and it is best to bring your own gloves. Down jackets are essential. You really can't believe that the wind and temperature on the top of the mountain can be so cold. After going down the mountain, the driver sent us back to the ancient city intersection, and the snow mountain journey ended after a five-star praise.
You should get a good rest the night before going to the snow mountain. Buy chocolate in advance to replenish your energy. It will be more expensive to buy it at the scenic spot.
Remember to eat breakfast on the day! The driver will call you the night before to confirm the meeting place and time for the next day.
At 7:10 in the morning, we gathered at Sifang Tea House near the north gate, and then distributed the three treasures of the snow mountain (down jackets, oxygen, and water). The small bottle of oxygen can be inhaled more than 30 times. We added 30 yuan to exchange for a large bottle of oxygen, but in fact, the two of us only used one small bottle of oxygen to climb to the top of the mountain, mainly for peace of mind. The journey to the snow mountain is about 40 minutes.
The cable car can only go up to an altitude of 4506 meters. You need to climb up the remaining 100 meters step by step. You can adapt to it for 5 minutes after you arrive here. You can climb up when you feel comfortable. It takes about 1 hour to climb to the top of 4680 meters.
There was a lot of fog on the mountain, and most of the time you couldn't see the scenery in the distance clearly. The clearer photos you see were taken when the fog was not noticeable.
New Year's Day is the peak season for Lijiang tourism, and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the most popular destination in the peak season. Yesterday, I wanted to book a private cableway ticket, but it was sold out. I had no choice but to sign up for a one-day tour group. Unexpectedly, it was a blessing in disguise. The group fee seemed to be 375 per person, and there was a discount for senior citizens. In short, it was much cheaper than buying it privately, and I also had an extra lunch, so why not?
There were a lot of people in front of the mountain gate, and there was a long queue after 9 o'clock. Private cars stopped at the parking lot after passing Ganhaizi, and then took the scenic area minibus to the Yulong Snow Mountain cableway entrance.
There were already a huge crowd of people queuing up at the cableway entrance. To go up to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, try to go up in the morning. There will often be wind in the afternoon and the weather will be worse. In the afternoon, looking at the snow mountain from afar in the Blue Moon Valley, a large cloud always hangs on the top of the snow mountain.
At the upper cableway entrance, the altitude quickly increased by more than 1,000 meters in more than 10 minutes, from more than 3,000 meters at the lower cableway entrance to 4,500 meters in an instant. This is a new height in the lives of the elderly parents. I give a thumbs up to their performance. Although they did not continue to climb up, it was not a big deal. Lao Hu thought that even if they walked another 400 or 500 meters, it would be no problem to reach the top. Of course, for safety reasons, the elderly played for a while at the height of 4,500 and then took the cableway down.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is not only the symbol of Lijiang, but also a sacred mountain in the hearts of the Naxi people. In the mythology of the Naxi people, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the incarnation of three gods. However, most people nowadays come here to climb the mountain instead of worshipping it.
Although it is a snow mountain, judging from its appearance, the environment must have been almost destroyed. It is just that the white color can cover up a lot of ugliness. As expected, according to friends who came here in the summer, there is no snow at all on Yulong Snow Mountain in summer. It is just a bare rocky mountain.
The highest altitude that ordinary tourists can reach is 4680 meters, with a vertical height of only 200 meters and a plank road of at least 1 kilometer. There were already crowds of people at the top of the plank road, and everyone lined up to take pictures. Lao Hu was alone, so he didn't join the crowd. He just found a sign and took a photo to mark his visit.
tips:
Yulong Snow Mountain: As the southernmost uplift of the Himalayas, and the only snow mountain in China where you can take a cable car and brag about having climbed it, it is still quite playable. There are so many guides about Yulong on the Internet. I won’t repeat myself, I’ll just pick the most concise ones.
1. Private cars are not allowed in the park. Private cars must be parked in designated parking lots and then take the scenic area minibuses of various routes. Queue up to get on the bus.
2. It is recommended to go to the glacier cableway in the morning, as it is very windy in the afternoon.
You can rent cold weather clothing and oxygen on the snowy mountain. If you are in good physical condition, you can bring more clothes. Don't get too excited when you just get off the cable car. Walk slowly when climbing the plank road. Take a break if you feel altitude sickness.
You must join a tour group when you go to the snow mountain, and sign up early. It is very difficult for individual tourists to queue up. Even in the off-season, there are still many people in the snow mountain. If you sign up too late, you may not be able to go up the mountain the next day. We went up the mountain at 4 pm. It was very windy and we were always worried that the cable car would suddenly stop operating.
It was raining and foggy, and the fog was lingering on the mountain peaks, and the mountains near and far could not be seen. It was also very cold, so I put on the rented big cotton coat as soon as I got off the bus.
We took the cable car to the top of the mountain. The fog was thicker and there were snowflakes floating on the mountain. The top of the mountain was covered with snow. It was all white and we couldn't see anything. We stayed there for less than ten minutes and left in the fog.
Note that you need to take the cable car up the mountain. The main attractions of Yulong Snow Mountain are Ganhaizi, Blue Moon Valley and Glacier Park. Do not run or walk too fast on the snow mountain. When you feel a little laborious breathing, you must stop and rest, take a few deep breaths, and calm down naturally. The air is thin up there, but just walk slowly. Buying an oxygen cylinder is enough.
Be sure to do multiple sun protection measures, the ultraviolet rays on the high-altitude snow-capped mountains are no joke.
If you can't walk anymore, you must take oxygen and stop to rest. There are seats on the plank road.
Although the scenery is beautiful, everyone must act within their means!
The whole way to Yulong Snow Mountain is also a process of taking the cable car up and then hiking to the top. The air is getting thinner and thinner when going up. I have to stop and take a breath every time I walk up one or two steps before I can continue. Maybe it's because it's my first time to go to such a high altitude and I haven't adapted to it yet. I survived by relying on the oxygen I just changed. On the other hand, Mr. L took a breath of oxygen when he had time just for fun. He is worthy of being a long-distance running champion.
The highest point that I came to is not the highest point of the snow mountain, but the highest point of the tourist open area. I guess it is still a long way to reach the highest point of the snow mountain. Coming here is also one of the first times in my life.
This trip to the snowy mountains was not as difficult as I imagined. I felt that Cangshan was a bit more tiring, probably because I was not used to it at the beginning. However, I have to say that Yulong Snow Mountain is worthy of being a 5A-level scenic spot. Any photo taken with a camera or mobile phone is a natural landscape painting.
Package: Big Jade Dragon Pass (includes entrance fee, Dongba Valley, Jade Pillar, Dongba Pantheon, Jade Water Village, Yufeng Temple, Dongba Kingdom, a total of 6 points)
Individual tourists: Generally, the mountain entrance fee is combined with one of the large, medium or small cable cars and a day in Blue Moon Valley
It is recommended to prepare some chocolate in advance and bring an oxygen bottle. In fact, you won't feel anything at first when you get to the Glacier Park, but once you start walking or move a little more vigorously, you will feel very tired. It will be better to breathe some oxygen at this time. Don't try to be brave on the plateau.
I personally experienced the so-called negative example. Because our package included the round trip, we had to gather at the parking lot at 5pm. We went the wrong direction when we were in Blue Moon Valley, which resulted in us running all the way without time. We didn't feel anything at the time, but after we stopped, we both felt very uncomfortable on the way back. We had a headache and stuffy nose, which are symptoms of a cold. We didn't dare to take a shower that night and went straight to bed, but fortunately, there was nothing wrong the next day, so don't do it if you don't have anything to do. It's just a waste of your time.
After exiting the cable car, you can choose to walk along the plank road to an altitude of 4,680 meters according to your physical condition.
It’s a pity that we didn’t climb up. One reason was time issue and the other was that we were really tired. Health is the most important thing. We climbed halfway and then returned along the same route.
Taking the cable car up the snow-capped mountains gives you a feeling of being in the clouds and mist.
To reach the snow-capped mountains, you probably have to climb up a few hundred meters. Many people breathe oxygen there. In fact, the more you breathe, the more you can’t adapt. You have to believe that humans can conquer nature.
The more you breathe, the more you can’t live without it. It’s like you reach 4,600 meters and rely on oxygen to reach 4,700 meters. Then you can’t adapt to the environment at 4,700 meters. When you get down the mountain, you’re more likely to get sick.
Just climb up slowly, make sure to take more rests in the middle and adjust your heart rate. It’s best not to sit down. It’s just like when we do a long-distance run, we need to walk a few steps after the run to adjust ourselves.
On the way, I even climbed over the plank road and jumped onto the snowy mountain. The snow was very hard, but I thought it was soft. I also wanted to take a few photos, but the staff saw me and shouted at me to go back...
Looking down from the top of the snow-capped mountain, you can vaguely see the Blue Moon Valley.
A sacred and mysterious place. I really love and hate it. I heard that there are 12 virgin peaks here, and because the snow surface is not tight, it is impossible to climb.
It is really beautiful, but the altitude sickness is really uncomfortable...
If you want to go up the snow mountain, you must take a big cable car. After getting off the cable car, you will be at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. You must walk slowly, or you will feel dizzy and even nauseous. At this time, you must start breathing oxygen. Breathing oxygen in large gulps will relieve the symptoms. You must use oxygen evenly, as altitude sickness will come on slowly. If you wait until you feel seriously ill before breathing oxygen, it may be difficult to recover.
The cable car only goes to the snow mountain at an altitude of 4506 meters. If you want to reach the highest point at an altitude of 4680 meters, you have to climb the plank road by yourself. Unfortunately, the weather was not good and it started to rain. We didn't bring an umbrella, so we had to use our down jackets as raincoats.
During the climb, the rain not only did not stop, but it got heavier, but this did not affect my enthusiasm. When we reached the highest point, the rain suddenly stopped, and the sun shone through the clouds and mist. Everyone couldn't help but cheer for this beautiful moment. The air on the mountain was very thin and the wind was very strong. When I saw others taking a deep breath from their oxygen bottles, I was very glad that I didn't have altitude sickness and I also enjoyed the joy of reaching the top. This trip to the snowy mountains was not in vain.
The Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area is about a 50-minute drive from Lijiang Ancient Town. Before going up the mountain, you must prepare cold-proof clothing, oxygen cylinders, drinking water, and dry food. Standing on the mountain, you will feel very small (note: if you have severe altitude sickness, it is recommended not to go). In general, it is a very good landscape worth a visit.
Do you know that you have conquered the snowy mountains?
I went to Dali for work in November. After work, I took a short tour of Dali and Lijiang at public expense. I was super lucky. I heard that it was forbidden to go up the mountain the next day because of wind, so the oxygen cylinder was not used. The two beautiful girls who traveled with me were also very strong and quickly reached the top. The scenery was beautiful.
Yu Xueshan, I want to see you again...
We booked the tour online, which included a bottle of oxygen (the tour guide recommended paying extra to switch to a larger bottle during the trip and also recommended a medicine to treat altitude sickness, but I personally felt it was useless and there was no need to buy it).
The speed of the Snow Mountain Cableway is much faster than that of Cangshan Mountain. It takes about 8 minutes to climb more than 1,000 meters in altitude, so if you have prepared oxygen, you can start breathing oxygen as soon as you get on the cable car.
When we went there, it was the first day after the maintenance of the cable car was completed after 10.1, so there were many people queuing. We waited for more than half an hour, and the number of people who came out of the cable car was 4506.
There was originally a section of hiking that could lead to climbing up to 4680 meters but it was not open due to weather reasons, which was a pity. I took some photos after going up and then came down. It seemed that I didn’t have any altitude sickness, so I jumped a few times for fun, and then... my head hurt a little.
Yulong Snow Mountain, a beautiful snow mountain~
It is best to arrive at sunrise in the morning so that you can see the beautiful golden red mountain.
It is generally recommended to visit the scenic spots halfway up the mountain, such as the Blue Moon Valley, in the morning, and then set out after lunch at about 11 o'clock to take the cable car to the top of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. PS: After 2-3 o'clock in the afternoon, the wind is relatively strong, so the cable car will shake violently, so it is recommended to avoid it.
It is colder on the mountain and the air is thin. Don't do too much intense activity, as you may get altitude sickness easily. It is recommended to take a break every 10 to 15 steps and breathe in the air (haha, it is oxygen). The key is not to beat your heart rate too fast, as it will cause insufficient supply, fainting, weak legs and dizziness.
Only go to the top if you have the ability. If you don’t have the energy, it’s also nice to take photos on the mountain.
It is best not to do too much intense activity after going down the mountain, pay attention to rest, and don’t take a shower (taking a shower will cause severe hypoxia in the body, which will lead to death 😂)
We signed up for a one-day tour to Yulong Snow Mountain, a business car, a group of 7 people, and a Naxi boy was the driver and tour guide. It rained in the morning, and it was cloudy when we arrived at Ganhaizi, so we skipped this attraction.
At noon, we had a local chicken hot pot, and some people chose the cured pork ribs hot pot. Each person had a small pot, and the local chicken, cured pork ribs, and hot pot dishes were all unlimited. The Naxi people were real. At twelve o'clock, we took the cable car up the mountain. It was sunny at the bottom of the mountain, and it was gloomy and rainy on the mountain. It took about ten minutes to take the cable car from the bottom of the mountain to an altitude of about 4,500 meters, so we started to breathe oxygen on the cable car. Everyone was in the same group. If you can't finish the wine, you can finish this bottle of oxygen. You have to climb the stairs to the top after getting off the cable car. Because it is a short time to reach a high altitude, you must do it according to your ability and put safety first. Like me, I am very afraid of death. Think about it. I came here alone. What should I do if I fall here? I feel dizzy and nauseous at 4,591 meters. I climbed down the mountain here. I am 1.6 meters tall, so I can be considered to have reached 4,592.5 meters. You must go down the mountain as soon as possible after the altitude sickness, because there is still a bus to take after going down the cable car to be considered a real descent. Some people did not vomit on the mountain, but vomited on the bus. I had altitude sickness in Yulong Snow Mountain.
You must remember to check whether you need to book tickets and cableway tickets in advance when you go. When I went, I had to book tickets online before 10:30 a.m. the day before, otherwise I had to wait one more day. The altitude difference directly increased by a thousand meters, so it is recommended that you still breathe oxygen in advance, and don't wait to take the cable car to an altitude of 4,500 meters. If you breathe with high anti-reaction, the effect will not be so good at that time. The cable car directly reaches an altitude of 4,506. If you want to go to the highest altitude of 4,680, you still need to climb up about 1.2 kilometers of the plank road, which takes about half an hour to an hour. In addition, I want to say that you must hold your mobile phone well. Once it falls into the snow outside the plank road, you really can't get it back. Also, the wind here is really...too big! It took about half an hour to climb to the end. To be honest, because the plank road is well repaired and easy to walk, it is not steep, and the plank road is only 1.2 kilometers long, so it is not difficult to climb up.
Snow Mountain tickets are divided into two categories, one is the classic route (including attractions: Blue Moon Valley, Ganhaizi, Impression Lijiang, Impression Lijiang Theater, Glacier Park, Yunshanping, Yakping)
There is also a large Yulong scenic spot (including attractions: Yulong Snow Mountain, Dongba Valley, Dongba Pantheon, Yushui Village, Yuzhu Qingtian, Yufeng Temple, Dongba Kingdom, Baisha Murals).
The classic route focuses on natural scenery, while the Dayulong route focuses on cultural features. You can choose according to your personal preferences.
I chose the classic route, which was recommended by the scenic spot staff. Special attention: due to weather factors, the opening of the cableway depends on the weather of the day and cannot be purchased in advance. The scenic spot has limited flow measures and the number of tickets is limited.
When visiting Yulong Snow Mountain, you must pay attention to: sun protection and warmth (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses - snow is dazzling when exposed to sunlight, so you need to protect yourself). Prepare oxygen tanks and Snickers in advance. Buy Snickers before taking the cable car. The scenic area also sells them. You know the price.
We spent a whole day at the end of the Glacier Park Cableway and Blue Moon Valley. It is best to bring some lunch as it consumes a lot of energy.
I need to remind you: all the free photos in the scenic area are free to print, and many of them are printed directly for you after taking the photos. If you don't want to take photos in this way, it is recommended not to let them take photos for you. The photos cost 20 yuan per photo, and you can't choose which one to print. If you are not very tired, try not to take the battery car in the scenic area. The distance between getting on and off is actually very close, which is equivalent to the distance of 3-4 bus stops, and the price is 20 yuan per person.
It is recommended to visit for a full day.
After getting off the cable car, we hiked along the plank road to the highest point, 4,680 meters above sea level. Along the way, we saw the Baishui No. 1 Glacier, which was formed 40,000 years ago. The driver reminded us early in the morning not to stay for too long after getting off the cable car, but to go straight up, because everyone has the most energy at this time. The process of climbing the mountain is a bit tiring. Although it seems that we only need to climb more than 300 meters, due to the high altitude and low temperature, we are out of breath with every step.
Another thing to say about the oxygen tank is that I may not know how to use it. Whether I use my nose or mouth, I feel like I didn't breathe anything after a long time. The two of us shared a bottle of oxygen. It's expensive to buy oxygen on the mountain. If it's not used up, you can give it to tourists in need. The serious altitude sickness I worried about before was all exaggerated. I just felt a little dizzy while riding the cable car and climbing the mountain, which was tolerable. Moreover, after going up the mountain, the sun was very strong. I was wearing a down jacket, and a winter coat on the outside. It was so hot that I took it off and held it in my hand all the way. The use of the winter coat was limited to the way up the mountain.
The scenery on the top of the mountain is so beautiful that any photo you take can be used as a wallpaper.
Tips:
1. Personally, I think it is unnecessary to buy masks (10 yuan each) in scenic spots. The staff at the scenic spots will scare you by saying that you will get seriously sunburned if you don’t wear a mask. However, the fact is that you are already a little short of oxygen, and it is even more uncomfortable not being able to breathe with a mask. So although I bought it, it was completely useless, and I lost it on the way up... Then you can prepare sunglasses yourself, as the ultraviolet rays on the mountain are relatively strong.
2. If you want to go to the toilet, you can wait until you get in after queuing for ticket checking. There are so many people outside that the queue when I went there in the off-season was so long that it turned a corner. I guess everyone doesn't know that there is a toilet after ticket checking.
3. The innkeeper reminded us not to wash our hair after coming back from the snowy mountains. I originally thought it was a custom (like it was unlucky), so I asked her. She said it was because washing your hair at this time would easily cause you to catch a cold, so everyone should pay attention to it~
I booked a one-day tour at the hotel. That's it, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. A tour group is a small group of about 10 people led by a driver and tour guide. Our tour guide is an uncle from the Yi ethnic group, who is quite nice. We first took a bus and then a sightseeing bus. We didn't stay in the Blue Moon Valley for a long time because the tour guide didn't give us much time to visit the Blue Moon Valley. If I were to go on my own, I would probably have more time. I haven't been with tour groups many times in China, but when I was with a tour group at Yulong Snow Mountain, I actually ate chicken hot pot. Wow, hahaha, my eyes lit up when I saw meat, but I was still very satisfied with the lunch, which was quite good. I carried an oxygen tank all the way. This was my first time to climb such a high mountain. I was a little excited. I didn't know if I would have altitude sickness. I was excited and nervous.
The speed of climbing the mountain should be slow, because the oxygen will be thin. Take some oxygen after walking a few steps. I have it with me. Finally, I climbed to the height of 4675 meters. It is closed above. It is said that there is snow on the steps. It is OK. Anyway, the highest height of my life is 4675 meters above sea level. Breathe and talk normally. Standing at such a high place, I should bring my lover with me. I hope he can see the beautiful scenery I see.
As soon as you enter the scenic area, you can see the front of Yulong Snow Mountain. It is also the only best viewing spot where you can see the front of the snow mountain. When climbing the snow mountain, the wind is very strong and very cold. The most important thing is the high altitude. Some people may have altitude sickness. I personally think that many people scare themselves and the feeling is not strong. In fact, there is no need to breathe oxygen, let alone buy several bottles of oxygen bottles to hold in front of the chest. The two bottles provided by the driver for free are basically useless. The altitude reaction is not so strong, but you should do your best to climb the snow mountain. If you feel that your physical condition is not good, stop immediately. Don't force yourself. If you do have a serious reaction, you will have difficulty breathing. To climb the snow mountain, you must first take the cable car to the Glacier Park, and then climb up the steps. The highest point you can climb is 4,680 meters. Standing at the highest point is really refreshing and worth the effort to climb up. Looking at the endless snow-capped mountains, covered in silver, like a giant dragon dancing, this is the origin of the name of Yulong Snow Mountain. Occasionally, strong winds blow on the snowy mountains, snowflakes fly all over the sky, and you can't see anything in front of you. When climbing a snowy mountain and encountering wind, you must stop and hold on to the handrail.
I was a little nervous when I was preparing to go up. I was worried that the altitude sickness would be serious. I was worried that the weather would be bad and I would not be able to take the cable car. Fortunately, the cable car was available, but the road to the top was closed due to strong winds. It was a pity. Fortunately, I did not have any altitude sickness at all. I laughed and jumped up there without any discomfort. If the master had not used my oxygen cylinder as an example to teach everyone how to use it, I think I should have been able to come down with an intact oxygen cylinder.
Arrive at the tourist emergency center at the foot of the snow mountain at 9.00, and receive your own down jacket, oxygen bottle, and mineral water, which are collectively referred to as the three treasures of the snow mountain. After the bus drove to the Ganhaizi Visitor Center, the driving assistant gave a detailed introduction on how to play in the snow mountain and how to take the eco-friendly bus. Take the big cableway eco-friendly bus to the entrance of the cableway at 3356 meters to queue up. It took about 10 minutes to take the cableway to the snow mountain platform at 4506 meters! Except for the down jacket, the oxygen bottle and mineral water of the three treasures of the snow mountain were not used. We did not have altitude sickness! There were many people, the wind was strong enough, the sky was blue enough, the clouds were white enough, and the snow was white enough!
For convenience, we booked a one-day tour from the innkeeper, who was very reliable. There was no extra consumption or shopping. The 380 yuan included transportation, tickets, cableway, cotton clothes, oxygen cylinders, mineral water and lunch. The lunch was a hot pot of cured pork ribs and local chicken, which was delicious.
[Note] The large cableway of Yulong Snow Mountain is not open when there is a strong wind. Generally, the wind will pick up after noon, so if you want to take the large cableway, it is best to go to the scenic area early. If you are afraid that you will have severe altitude sickness, you can prepare oxygen bottles in advance. It will be more expensive to buy them on the mountain. In addition, you can prepare some chocolate. I feel that eating a piece of chocolate will relieve a lot of altitude sickness. You can only go up to 4506 by taking the large cableway. If you want to go up to the current highest point of 4680, you can only walk up. When we first arrived at 4506, we were still showing off. We didn’t have altitude sickness, so we wanted to challenge 4680. As a result, I felt dizzy and nauseous after less than 20 steps. My brother was even more weird. He felt that the road board under his feet was shaking, so he had to return the same way. It was a bit windy when we went down the mountain. It was still scary to feel the swaying of the wind when sitting on the cableway.
Individual tourists are not allowed to enter the snow mountain now, and only one-day tours are allowed. Even if individual tourists are allowed, I still recommend joining a tour group. First, the snow mountain is about 45 minutes' drive from the ancient city. Second, the gate of Yulong Snow Mountain is still a certain distance away from the scenic area inside, and it is very large. It is inconvenient to go alone. Third, I am lazy, after all, I need to prepare a series of equipment such as cold-proof clothes and oxygen tanks.
Yunnan trip - Lijiang Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain worshipped by the Naxi people. It is the southernmost snow mountain in the northern hemisphere. It is covered with snow all year round and has a glacier that has existed for thousands of years. It is 5,596 meters above sea level. The mountain cableway can reach 4,680 meters. The mountain is steep and majestic. Even in early winter, the snow on the top of the mountain is thick, and the wind blows the snow and the glacier is beautiful. The Blue Moon Lake in the mountain stream has ice-blue water, which is clear to the bottom. The reflection of the snow-capped mountains is like a dream or a mirror.
To enter the Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area, you must first pay a mountain entrance fee of 100 yuan per person, which can be paid on the spot when parking on the roadside. It is the basic ticket and must be paid regardless of whether you take the cable car or visit other attractions.
The main attractions in the scenic area include Blue Moon Valley, Glacier Park, Yunshanping, Yaoniuping and other major attractions.
Blue Moon Valley has the lowest altitude and is located in the valley at the foot of the mountain. It is mainly water-rich, which comes from the melting of snow-capped mountain glaciers and converges into rivers.
The Glacier Park has the highest altitude and is located just below the main peak, Fanzidou. It is mainly for viewing peaks and glaciers, and you need to take a cable car up the mountain to visit.
Yunshanping is an alpine meadow located halfway up the mountain. It mainly features forests and grasslands, and you need to take a cable car up the mountain to visit it.
Yakping is another meadow pasture located halfway up the mountain. You need to take a cable car up the mountain to visit it.
The cable cars of several scenic spots are independent of each other, and there are scenic shuttle buses between scenic spots. Yunshanping and Blue Moon Valley are very close. After visiting Yunshanping, you can walk to Blue Moon Valley from the lower station of the cable car. You need to take a scenic shuttle bus between Glacier Park and Yakniuping. Personally, I feel that it is not enough time to visit four scenic spots in one day. I plan to visit Glacier Park + Yakniuping first, and Yunshanping and Blue Moon Valley another day.
Yulong Snow Mountain is divided into three major scenic areas: Glacier Park, Yunshanping and Yaoniuping. Next to Yunshanping is the Blue Moon Valley, which is also a very worthwhile attraction. Tickets can be purchased on the WeChat applet "Lijiang Tourism Group".
Yulong Snow Mountain Entrance Ticket: 100 yuan/person (must be purchased to enter the scenic area. If you need to go to Glacier Park, Yunshanping, and Yaoniuping, you need to buy cable car tickets and sightseeing bus tickets separately).
Glacier Park Cableway + Sightseeing Bus: 140 yuan/person (limited to 10,000 tickets per day, released at 20:00 the day before).
Yunshanping Cableway + Sightseeing Bus: 60 yuan/person.
Yakping Cableway + Sightseeing Bus: 65 yuan/person.
If you need to enter the scenic area again on the second day, you can go to the service desk of the visitor center to go through the procedures for entering the mountain again, and you can enter the scenic area for free on the second day.
Yulong Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain in the hearts of the Naxi people. Its main peak, Fanzidou, is about 5,596 meters above sea level. Its thirteen snow-capped peaks are continuous, like a giant dragon leaping and dancing, so it is called Yulong.
Tickets: 100 yuan (mountain entrance fee). The Glacier Park Cableway is 120 yuan, the Yunshanping Cableway is 40 yuan, the Yaoniuping Cableway is 45 yuan, and the scenic area bus is 20 yuan. Opening hours: 8:00-18:00. The Blue Moon Valley is included in the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain ticket, and the opening hours are 8:00-16:00. At the entrance of the Zhongyi Market in the ancient city, there is a special bus from Zhongyi Market to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. Tickets for the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Glacier Park Cableway start selling on the official account at 20:00 the night before, and are difficult to buy during the peak season.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the soul of Lijiang, is majestic and magnificent, like a jade dragon flying in the sky. Take the cable car up, through the clouds and fog, and the view is suddenly clear, with glaciers shining and snow-capped peaks. Strolling on the plank road, you will see herds of cattle and sheep on the plateau meadows, dotted with wild flowers, and the natural ecology coexists harmoniously. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is not only a visual feast, but also a baptism of the soul, which makes people linger and forget to leave, as if they were in a fairyland from another world.
Yulong Snow Mountain is called "Oulu" in Naxi language, which means "Heavenly Mountain". Its thirteen snow peaks are continuous, just like a "dragon" flying and dancing, so it is called "Yulong". Because its rock type is mainly limestone and basalt, with distinct black and white, it is also called "Black and White Snow Mountain", which is the sacred mountain of Naxi people.
The scenery of Yulong Snow Mountain is very beautiful, but the service really needs to be improved. People go there more to climb the mountain and get close to the snow mountain. However, it is more difficult to get a ticket for the main cableway during holidays than to climb the snow mountain by yourself. Even if you get a ticket, you may encounter unpredictable factors, such as suspension of service due to strong winds, etc. It depends on your luck.
The transportation in the scenic area is disorganized and crowded. I don’t know how to buy tickets or how to take the bus. I have to rely on guessing. Anyway, the experience is terrible.
The entrance ticket to Yulong Snow Mountain is 100 yuan, which can be bought on site. Tickets for the cableway are only available at 7 o'clock on the same day, and the tour groups actually go to get tickets by themselves. I don't think it is necessary to join a group. Many tour groups say that they can't get tickets without joining a group, which is nonsense. Yulong Snow Mountain is really suitable for individual travel. There is a special bus outside the ancient city that goes directly to the Yulong Snow Mountain Visitor Center. There is a parking lot like the tour group. Then if you join a group, you need to carry the winter clothes up the mountain by yourself, which is tiring enough. If you travel by yourself, you can bring a light down jacket in your bag. If it is really cold on the mountain, you can rent one for 50 yuan. There is no need to carry it from the bottom of the mountain to the top. It is too tiring. If you join a group, it is usually the cableway + Blue Moon Valley. If you travel by yourself, you will have time for other attractions. .
The entrance fee to Yulong Snow Mountain is 100 yuan, and the eco-friendly car is 20 yuan. There are three cableways in the scenic area corresponding to three scenic spots: Yunshanping is 40 yuan, Yaoniuping is 45 yuan, and Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area is 120 yuan. Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area, also known as the top of the mountain, is the main scenic area. Due to limited transportation capacity, cableway tickets need to be booked one day in advance. The reservation is divided into time periods. If you don’t get on the cableway after the reservation time, it will be invalid. There are not many tourists on the other two cableways, so you can buy them on site. Due to the wrong season, we only took the big cableway to the top of the peak. The main peak of Yulong Snow Mountain, Shanzidou, is 5,596 meters above sea level, and the stone tablet for tourists to take pictures is 4,680 meters.
In Lijiang, there is such a place, where white clouds are linked together, floating on the mountains, and reflected on the lake, like a dream. The water there is blue on a sunny day, as blue as the clear blue sky. If you accidentally enter it without knowing it, you might think you have come to the legendary fairyland of Yaochi. From a distance, it looks like a blue moon embedded at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain, so it is named: Blue Moon Valley.
The Blue Moon Valley is located in a valley on the eastern foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is shaped like a crescent and consists of Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake, Blue Moon Lake and Tingtao Lake. The water is blue because it is rich in copper ions. It is a must-visit place for people traveling to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area.
The water of [Yuye Lake] is very clear. You can see the pure white bottom of the water at a glance. The blue lake reflects the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain not far away, like a beautiful landscape painting.
[Mirror Tan Lake] is a very small scenic spot in Blue Moon Valley. It looks small and exquisite, but it is very quiet and the water here is also very clear.
[Blue Moon Lake] is surrounded by green mountains and trees. Under the shining sunshine, the jade-like lake surface is sparkling like a sapphire, giving people a feeling of both fairyland and fantasy.
The water level of Tingtao Lake has a large drop in elevation, and the stream flows through it like a waterfall, making a "ding-dang-er" sound that sounds like the sound of a musical instrument or a sheng.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is located in the suburbs of Lijiang. It is a sacred mountain in the hearts of the Naxi people and protects this land. The main peak of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is 5,596 meters above sea level and is covered with snow all year round. However, due to its shape, the amount of snow is not large and it looks like there is not much snow. In fact, there are modern glaciers on the mountain. It is worth going to the Glacier Park by taking the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Cableway and the Blue Moon Valley at the foot of the mountain!
Yulong Snow Mountain is the snow mountain closest to the equator in the Northern Hemisphere and also the snow mountain closest to large cities. Although the magnificent snow mountain scenery is amazing, the snow line has been gradually rising in recent years due to global warming. Although a low-carbon and environmentally friendly lifestyle is small, it is also our little contribution to protecting the snow mountains.
【Yulong Snow Mountain】
Yulong Snow Mountain is called "Oulu" in Naxi language, which means "Heavenly Mountain". Its thirteen snow peaks are continuous, just like a "dragon" flying and dancing, so it is called "Yulong". Because its rock type is mainly limestone and basalt, with distinct black and white, it is also called "Black and White Snow Mountain", which is the sacred mountain of Naxi people.

Normally, you can only book three types of tickets: entrance ticket, sightseeing bus, and Glacier Park Cableway. Yunshanping Cableway and Yaoniuping Cableway cannot reach the highest mountain top. If you can't buy the Glacier Park Cableway, then buy this one.
It is said that Blue Moon Valley is the most beautiful part of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area. I saw it with my own eyes. It is indeed true. There are three cable cars to go up the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The temperature on the mountain is relatively low, so you need to rent cotton clothes. We did not go up. Just strolling around the Blue Moon Valley is enough!
Yulong Snow Mountain is a group of snow-capped mountains in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It is bordered by the Lijiang-Mingyin Highway in the east, Tiger Leaping Gorge in the west, Yuhu Lake in the south, and the entrance of the Daju Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge in the north. It is located between 100°4′2″-100°16′30″ east longitude and 27°3′2″-27°18′57″ north latitude, about 15 kilometers north of Lijiang. It is 75 kilometers long and is the closest mountain range to the equator in the northern hemisphere with snow all year round. It is separated from the Zhongdian Snow Mountain in the west by the river and from the Mianmian Mountain in the east. It stretches from Sanjiangkou in the north to 27° north latitude in the south, like a fan opening out to the ancient city. The 13 peaks of the mountain are arranged vertically from south to north. The highest point of the main peak, Fanzidou, is 5,596 meters above sea level. It is covered with snow all year round, and the snow line is between 4,800 and 5,000 meters. It has the closest temperate marine glaciers to the equator in Eurasia. [1]

Because its rock types are mainly limestone and basalt, with distinct black and white, it is also called "Black and White Snow Mountain". It is a sacred mountain for the Naxi people. Legend has it that it is the incarnation of the Naxi patron saint "Sanduo". [2]
In 1984, the Yunnan Yulong Snow Mountain Provincial Nature Reserve was established. In 2001, Yulong Snow Mountain was rated as a 4A-level tourist attraction, and in May 2007 it became one of the first 5A-level tourist attractions in the country.
The second time I came to Yulong Snow Mountain, I took the big cableway and then walked the plank road to finally reach the top. I want to share my experience: 1. Regarding altitude sickness, bring an oxygen bottle and start breathing oxygen from the cableway. Taking rhodiola rosea a few days in advance can also prevent it. 2. The best time to climb is 7 o'clock in the morning, which can shorten the waiting time. If the weather is good, you can see the sea of clouds. 3. Give yourself an encouragement every time you climb to a certain height, whether it is a group photo or a video, which can give you more strength to move forward! 4. Bring a few more pieces of chocolate! ! ! ! ! Don't rush to take off your down jacket when you go down the mountain.
The scenic area is divided into the Iceberg Park, which is the highest peak, and two small cableways, Yunshanping and Yaoniuping, as well as the Blue Moon Valley. The snow-capped mountains are as expected and very magnificent, but what is surprising is the Blue Moon Valley at the foot of the mountain. The water, which is like a paradise, is even better than the snow-capped mountains. It is recommended to sign up for a one-day tour, which is worry-free and convenient.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The mountain is in the sky, and people are on the mountain. When I arrived at the foot of the mountain by car, it was cloudy, but when I took the cable car to the top of the mountain, it was sunny. The barrier of a mountain makes the yin and yang different. On the top of the mountain, there is snow, and the clouds are already below the mountain. The weather is very hot, so I took off my clothes and walked a few hundred meters on the plank road. I have reached an altitude of 4,600 meters. My mind becomes broader as the altitude reflects the mind. Where the vision reaches is where the heart reaches.
I went to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain on a self-guided tour in August this year. Considering that there is less snow on the top of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in summer, I did not go to the Glacier Park Cableway, but went to the Yunshanping Cableway.
The tickets that must be purchased for Yulong Snow Mountain are mainly divided into three parts: 100 yuan mountain entrance fee + Blue Moon Valley sightseeing bus ticket + cable car ticket.
The 100 yuan entrance fee is paid at the entrance of the scenic area. When you drive to the entrance of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, the ticket inspector will walk along the queue of cars and swipe Alipay to pay the 100 yuan entrance fee per person.
The cable car tickets and Blue Moon Valley sightseeing bus tickets are purchased as a package, usually on the "Lijiang Tourism Group" WeChat official account. The ticket price varies depending on the cable car you go to.
There are three cableways in Yulong Snow Mountain:
1. Glacier Park Cableway. It is often called the "big cableway". This cableway is the highest and most frequented by tourists. It is more than 4,000 meters above sea level and often causes altitude sickness. When visiting Glacier Park, you can see the snow up close. For individual tourists, the Glacier Park cableway is purchased on the "Lijiang Tourism Group" WeChat official account at 7 a.m. on the same day, and you need to strictly abide by the selected time period. The cableway starts operating at 7:30 every day. The Glacier Park cableway + Blue Moon Valley sightseeing bus ticket is 140 yuan.
2. Yakping Cableway. It is also often called the "middle cableway" and is the second highest cableway. It is an alpine meadow landscape. The scenery that tourists see after going up is - the meadow in the near distance, and the snow-capped mountains a little further away. It is said that there are cows and horses grazing. The plank road here is a bit old, but it looks unique. The Yakping Cableway starts operating at 8 o'clock every day, and the tickets for the cableway seem to be available only on site (although there is a Yakping option on the WeChat public account of "Lijiang Tourism Group", I have never seen it release tickets. I called the customer service and the customer service said that it can only be purchased on site). Yakping Cableway + Blue Moon Valley sightseeing bus ticket is 65 yuan.
3. Yunshanping Cableway. It is the shortest of all the cableways and is called the "small cableway". The plants here are all spruce and pine trees, which are very tall. Walking on the Yunshanping plank road, you can see tall spruce in the near distance and snow-capped mountains a little further away. Tickets for the Yunshanping Cableway can be purchased three days in advance on the "Lijiang Tourism Group" WeChat official account. You need to strictly abide by the selected time period. The cableway starts operating at 7:30 every day. Yunshanping Cableway + Blue Moon Valley sightseeing bus ticket is 60 yuan.
I wanted to go to Yakniuping the most, but I couldn't get a ticket during the peak season, so I went to Yunshanping, but after I went there, I thought it was pretty good. There is also a place in front of Yunshanping where you can wear ethnic costumes and take photos, 20 yuan per time.
Baishui River and Blue Moon Valley are also very beautiful. They are connected scenic spots. The meltwater from the iceberg flows downstream and forms Baishui River and Blue Moon Valley. The water of Baishui River is milky white, and the water of Blue Moon Valley is light blue.
I also have to recommend Ganhaizi, which is right next to parking lots 1 and 2. The scenery is amazing on a sunny day.
Ganhaizi is very nice to take pictures, and the master will give you enough time. You can take a battery car in Blue Moon Valley and get off at each point to take pictures. It is very beautiful. Yulong Snow Mountain is worth going! ! You must insist on climbing to the highest point, everything is worth it! It is recommended to bring some chocolate with you, otherwise you can't climb up. The scenery on the cable car is also beautiful, be sure to pay attention! In short, everything is worth it
I went to Yunnan in 2012. Before I went there, many people told me that I needed oxygen and rented coats. Unfortunately, my mother and I wore very thin clothes and didn't have oxygen tanks. We still felt that it was nothing, because everyone around us was wearing coats.
The closest I’ve ever been to the sky ~ I breathed in enough oxygen and climbed up with all my strength, not caring if I had the strength to come down (it turns out that my legs were weak when I was going down the stairs) ~ Sometimes I still have to cheer myself up and tell myself that I can do it, maybe one day I will really succeed (from my thoughts on reaching the summit, hahaha)
Yulong Snow Mountain is a sacred mountain for the Naxi people, but I think it should be a "golden mountain". The increase in altitude from 3300 to 4560 is indeed very serious for the plateau. But the scenery is very beautiful. The cable car queue is 2 hours and the photo taking time is 10 minutes.
Transportation: Zhongyi bus runs every half hour, takes about an hour, and the ticket price is 15 yuan. Arrive at Ganjingzi No. 4 parking lot, in front of the Glacier Museum. Picture above!

This trip to Lijiang lasted only 2 days. I spent one day at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The scenery was beyond my expectations. The best tour route is: Jade Dragon Mountain Scenic Area Entrance - Glacier Park - Blue Moon Valley (Baishui River) - Ganhaizi - Impression Lijiang (you can choose to go to Yunshanping and Yakping).
[Transportation] Book tickets for Jade Dragon Snow Mountain + cable car + eco-friendly car package online in advance, and we will be responsible for round-trip transportation to Lijiang Ancient Town.
There are three cableways in Xueshan, namely:
The Glacier Park Cableway is 3 kilometers long and is a six-person sealed hanging basket. It rises from 3,356 meters above sea level to 4,506 meters above sea level and steps on the snow. The one-way trip takes about 15-20 minutes.
[Currently, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Cableway has a limited ticket limit and does not sell tickets to individual tourists. You can follow the "Lijiang Tourism Group Official Mall" on WeChat official account to purchase the cableway and package tickets or find a travel agency to book tickets]
The Yakniuping Middle Cableway is 1.2 kilometers long and is a double-seat hanging basket. It reaches an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level. It only takes less than 10 minutes for a one-way trip, and you can get a close look at the snow-capped mountains.
The Yunshanping cableway is 1 kilometer long and is a double-person hanging basket type. It reaches a height of 3,000 meters. A one-way trip takes less than 10 minutes, and you can see the snow-capped mountains in the distance.
[Food and Beverage] There are many restaurants in the scenic area, such as Blue Moon Valley, and you can also bring your own fruit snacks.
If you want to travel independently but are worried, you can search [Light Butler] on Taobao, which provides professional customized travel guides.
Since you can view it from a distance, why bother to climb? Viewing from a distance is enough, the clouds will clear and the moon will be bright.
There are many fun places in the Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area, but they close at 5 or 6 in the afternoon. It is recommended to go there early in the morning and spend a day sightseeing.
This is where I saw the snow-capped mountains for the first time. It felt great.
I don't have any altitude sickness, but unfortunately I didn't reach the highest point.
Climbing the snow-capped mountains in the snow, all you see before you is vastness, which is a unique experience.
Although the drive is far, it is worth it...
We stayed in Lijiang for 6 days and had good luck. The weather was great every day. We carefully selected TOP1 Wei Travel on China-TravelNote. The customer service received us very seriously when we placed the order. During the trip, the master was very nice. We set off at 7:30. After breakfast, the master took us to the Blue Moon Valley for a tour. We played for an hour and a half and took enough photos to go to Ganhaizi. We were lucky. There was no queue for the cable car in the morning. We got on the big cable car and stayed on it for more than an hour. We had a great time. When we came down, we were taken to have lunch. The local chicken hot pot tasted very good. The large bottle of oxygen given by the travel agency was enough to breathe. There was no altitude sickness during the whole tour. We all had a good time, unlike other groups that were driven around like ducks. It felt very good. The master who took us was also very hard. I also participated in their Lugu Lake. I have to say that Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is really classic. It is a pity not to go to the snow mountain when you come to Lijiang
