An important part of Lijiang Ancient Town, it is named because the mountain looks like a sleeping lion.
The ancient city buildings are surrounded by mountains at the foot of Lion Mountain, which is the best place to enjoy the panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient City.
On the top of the mountain stands the first wooden building in China with one pillar extending from top to bottom, the Wangu Tower.
·When you go up to the tower, you can see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the north, the Lijiang Old Town in the east, the Lijiang New Town in the west, and the rural villages in the south.

The first time I went to Yunnan, I visited the Zhongyi Night Market in Lijiang Ancient Town. I saw a tower on the mountain in the distance, which attracted my attention. Why not go up to see the tower and overlook the night view of the ancient city? I walked along the path towards the tower and asked the security guards to find out that the tower was called "Wangu Tower" and was on Lion Mountain. There was a slope from Sifang Street, and I climbed up to the top of Lion Mountain panting. As a result, I was lonely. Before I reached Wangu Tower, I was blocked outside the gate of Lion Mountain Scenic Area and had to buy a 35 yuan ticket to enter. I wanted to take pictures of the night view of the ancient city, but it was already dark at this time. It was not the best choice to enjoy the scenery and take pictures. It was not cost-effective to pay for admission to the hospital and climb the tower, so I ate snacks and drank beer at the viewing platform of the merchants around the top of Lion Mountain and looked at the ancient city.
Lion Mountain in Lijiang Ancient Town is the highest point of Lijiang Ancient Town. It is named after its shape resembling a lying lion. The mountain is densely covered with cypresses, and there are more than 30 ancient cypresses over 800 years old. Wangu Tower on Lion Mountain is a landmark building. This five-story all-wooden pavilion offers a 360-degree panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town and a distant view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The mountains are dotted with Ming and Qing Dynasty monuments such as Wenchang Palace and Baima Longtan Temple, as well as murals and inscriptions showing Naxi culture. The eastern foot of Lion Mountain is close to Sifang Street. The mountain and the ancient town houses are naturally integrated, forming a unique pattern of "the city depends on the mountain and the mountain is the screen of the city". Its observation deck is a popular place to take pictures of the morning fog and night view of the ancient city. The best time to visit is early morning or evening.
Lion Rock, I suggest you go to the north gate, pass the basketball court and turn right. There is a beautiful chrysanthemum path, and then there is a teahouse, which is very elegant. Turn left and you will reach the viewing platform. You can sit in one of the coffee shops and overlook the ancient city. It is very comfortable to feel the breeze.
Wangu Tower is a landmark building in Lijiang. It is interpreted as "Thousand-year Tower" in Dongba script and "Wengulun" in Naxi language, which means to enjoy the view from a commanding height. Therefore, it is named "Wangu Tower" because of its homophonic pronunciation. "Wan" means overlooking the ancient city of Lijiang and its pastoral scenery, and looking at the glaciers of Yulong Snow Mountain, which are thousands of years old. It also means that Lijiang has restored and rebuilt its homeland, which will be passed down through the ages and immortal.
Wangu Tower is a tower-style five-eaved, all-wooden structure, 33 meters high, symbolizing the 330,000 people of all ethnic groups in the former Lijiang Naxi Autonomous County.
Lion Mountain, formerly known as Huangshan, is located in the center of Lijiang Ancient Town, Lijiang City, Yunnan Province. It is an important part of the World Cultural Heritage Lijiang Ancient Town and a major attraction in the national scenic area. It is named because the mountain looks like a sleeping lion. The ancient city buildings are surrounded by the foot of Lion Mountain, which is the best place to enjoy the panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town.
Lion Rock gets its name from its shape which resembles a crouching lion. It complements the Black Dragon Pool on Elephant Mountain and forms the beautiful scene of Lijiang called “Lion Playing with Lying Elephant”.
From the Lion Rock, you can get a panoramic view of the ancient city of Lijiang.
Lion Mountain is the highest point in Lijiang Ancient Town. You can overlook the whole city from the top of Lion Mountain. But all I can see is the rooftops.
The observation deck on Lion Mountain has a great view of the whole Lijiang. We went up Lion Mountain from the back of the Mu Mansion.
Lion Mountain, located in the center of Lijiang Old Town, Lijiang City, is an important part of the World Cultural Heritage Lijiang Old Town and a major attraction of the national scenic area. It is named because the mountain looks like a sleeping lion. The ancient city buildings are surrounded by the foot of Lion Mountain, which is the best place to enjoy the panoramic view of Lijiang Old Town.
We live nearby and it's really nice to climb up to see the panoramic view. It's also very close to Sifang Street.
You can overlook the entire Lijiang Ancient Town from Lion Mountain. It is still very beautiful when the weather is good, and you can also watch the sunrise over Lijiang. At night, you can see the night view of Lijiang Ancient Town.
You can see the panoramic view of Dayan Ancient Town, which is worth a visit.
Overlooking the ancient city from the Wenchang Palace on Lion Rock, you can see the continuous stretch of gray-tiled wooden houses. The view is broad and the scenery is endless!
There are many observation decks on Lion Rock, with broad views and comfortable chairs. You can relax lazily for an entire afternoon with a pot of tea.
To be honest, walking uphill in Lijiang is really tiring. I was out of breath while walking. My boyfriend and I are a bit fat, and the altitude is high. It was really exhausting to go to Lion Mountain to see the panoramic view of the ancient city. Lion Mountain charges 30 yuan per ticket, which is a bit of a rip-off. There is a viewing platform on top, plus a Wangu Tower.
Choose a cafe at a commanding height to overlook the entire Lijiang Ancient Town. If you are lucky enough, you can see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the north.
Climbing in the sunny morning will make you understand why Lijiang is so charming
Lion Mountain overlooks a large area of Lijiang.
It's a pity that many teahouses require you to pay to go in and take pictures, which is very materialistic.
There is a discount for buying Lion Rock tickets through China-TravelNote. It only cost 44 yuan for two of us, saving more than ten yuan.
After entering the door, you will be directed to an observation deck on the left, but there will be a few trees in front of it. The view is OK, but not very good.
It's in the old town of Lijiang. There's a bar next to it, which opens at night.
There are many bars on Lion Rock where you can enjoy the night view of the ancient city while drinking drinks and listening to singers singing.
From here, you can see most of the ancient city. For those who don't have a drone, a walk to Lion Rock is also a good visual experience. Follow the mountain path up to Wenchang Palace and you will reach the top. A few dozen meters to the side, there are several restaurants with views. It is of course great to go in and take pictures.
The appearance of the ancient city, the mountains in the distance and the houses nearby, make up a beautiful picture
Of course you have to check in at a place like this~
Lion Rock is a good place to see the panoramic view of Lijiang. The ticket is 50 yuan per person. I remember it was only 10 yuan five years ago.
Opposite the top of Huaxiangding is the slope of Lion Mountain. The densely packed wooden houses and green tiles do not feel crowded, but have become a scenic line. From Lion Mountain, there are two plots of land in the ancient city. One is Wenchang Palace, which does not require a ticket, and the other is Wangu Tower, which is the commanding height of Lion Mountain. It is higher than Wenchang Palace but requires a 50 yuan ticket. On the way to Lion Mountain, you can encounter an inn every few steps. It looks like a peaceful life. Who doesn't want to lie in a small rocking chair for a day? Anyway, whether you want it or not, I am very yearning for it. But I still think that the inn on Lion Mountain is not very convenient.
I personally don't recommend going there, the ticket is 40. There's nothing to see, just Lion Rock to see the entire ancient city
I thought the panoramic view of the ancient city seen from Lion Rock was different from that seen from Wenchang Palace, so I went into a bar with the mentality of giving it a try. In fact, they were the same. I felt really sad when I tasted the watermelon milkshake which cost 68 yuan a cup and was super unpalatable.
Lion Rock Park is the highest place in Lijiang Ancient Town. You can overlook the entire ancient town. It is closed at night and tickets are required during the day.
Lion Mountain is a separate scenic spot. Visitors entering from the Mu Mansion can walk straight inside and climb up the mountain. They need to buy a separate ticket before entering the Lion Mountain Scenic Area. There are no special attractions worth seeing on Lion Mountain, but you can see the panoramic view of the entire Lijiang Ancient Town from here, and the clouds above your head seem to be within reach.
That uphill climb...those steps...that gravel road is simply terrible!
As I walked, I sighed, wondering what it would be like to live on the hillside with a suitcase. I dare not even think about it...
We finally reached Lion Rock, but the view was completely blocked by the towering trees.
Get a panoramic view of the ancient town from the Lion Mountain behind Shuhe Ancient Town!
The attractions in Lion Rock are considered to be the most important. The only one, Wangu Tower, is still under renovation. I spent 25 yuan just to take a panoramic photo of the Mu Mansion.
We just walked to the foot of Lion Rock, so we walked in. Maybe because of the entrance fee, there were few people, so we kept taking pictures. The view from above of Lijiang was very beautiful.
Lion Rock is inside the ancient city. Just walk north from Sifang Street. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the top of the mountain. The ticket is 50. After visiting other mountains and temples, I don’t want to go there anymore. You can stop by when you pass by the ancient city. At night, you can watch the night view of the city from a bar near Lion Rock.
Climb up and look far into the distance, you can overlook this ancient city from the mountain
Because the ticket cost 50 yuan, I didn't go in. But standing outside, it was enough to have an overview of the scenery of Lijiang. After all, there are too many places in Lijiang that require tickets, so just take a look.
If you think that Lijiang Old Town is not suitable for you, I personally recommend you to go to Lion Mountain. Lion Mountain is located at the north gate of Lijiang and has a relatively quiet environment. The terrain here is high and generally only independent travelers will go there. However, the Lion Mountain Observation Deck can enjoy the sunset and sunrise of Lijiang at the same time, which is a place worth recommending!!!!
Goddess Gem Mountain is also called Lion Mountain. You can climb Lion Mountain through the back door of Mu Mansion. Lion Mountain covers a large area. The core area is the Wangugulou Scenic Area near the ancient town. It can be reached in 30 minutes on foot. The ticket for the ancient building is 50 yuan per person. You can overlook the entire Lijiang city from the building. However, there is no other landscape to see and play. It can be said that the cost performance is low. Tourists please consider it on their own.
Nice view of the whole ancient city, but the place to stay is more expensive
On the Lion Mountain, I looked at the panoramic view of Lijiang, drank coffee, and the breeze brushed my face. At this time, the singer's magnetic voice sang: Life is not just about survival, but also about poetry and the distance...
I highly recommend you to climb Lion Rock Park. You can stand at the highest point and overlook the ancient city, which is also very beautiful (the park requires a ticket, 50 per person)
Important: If you have a student ID, be sure to bring it! Many places can be half-price!
We walked along the street and up the slope to Lion Mountain. We found out that we could see the panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town and the ticket price was 50 yuan. It was boring to take pictures at the door and check in.
I was planning to go to the top of Wangu Tower to overlook the ancient city, but after I bought the ticket and went in, I found that the top floor was under maintenance and I was not allowed to go up. There was no sign outside, so I could only look down from below. If the weather is fine, it is still very interesting to go to the top floor and look at the ancient town with the snow-capped mountains behind, but it was raining the day I went up, and I couldn't go to the top floor and couldn't see anything. So it is not recommended when the weather is bad.
Lion Mountain occupies almost 1/3 of the ancient city. From Sifang Street along Xinhua Street upwards, half of the slope is occupied by Lion Mountain. There are many specialty shops and viewing inns everywhere. The top is Lion Mountain Park, which contains the Wangugu Tower, the highest point of the mountain. The stone road on the mountain is not very smooth, so you need to be careful when going up and down the mountain to avoid slipping on water stains.
You can see the whole view of Lijiang Old Town (during the day). The store closes at 6:30 pm. Even in winter, it is not completely dark and the lights are not on. To take pictures of the whole view of the old town at night, as far as I know, you can go to the second-floor viewing platform of a nearby bar. You need to buy some drinks before taking pictures.
Go to the top of the mountain, you can overlook the whole city, sit quietly on the top of the mountain and drink a cup of coffee
From Lion Rock and Wangu Tower, you can overlook the entire Lijiang Ancient Town, and you can also see Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the distance. You need to check the ticket for the ancient town maintenance fee when you get here. The ancient trees on the mountain are all fairy-level, and many of them are four or five hundred years old. On the mountain road, we occasionally encountered a giant squirrel, which seemed bigger than a rabbit. It moved very quickly, jumping on the branches a few times and then disappeared. By the time my husband looked up, it had run past.
You can overlook the entire Lijiang Ancient Town from here. It is recommended to go there in the morning when there are fewer people. There is also a place to climb the tower on top, which is suitable for taking photos and walking around. The mountain is not high, so walk slowly.
It feels like looking down on all the mountains. It's so relaxing to drink and daydream on Lion Rock.
The scenery of the whole Lijiang from Lion Mountain is really amazing. The accommodation is on Lion Mountain. When you get up in the morning, you can see the panoramic view of the whole Lijiang and the fog on the mountainside slowly rising to the top of the mountain. It feels great to be close to nature. I can't find photos of the night view. Looking at the lights of the whole ancient city from this position at night has a different charm.
A good place to overlook the panoramic view of the ancient city. If you want to see the night view, you can choose a hotel on the way up the mountain. The hotels near the top of the mountain have their own observation decks. The observation deck during non-meal time also charges a drink fee, 60-70/cup, which is probably set compared to the ticket price of Wangu Tower on the top of Lion Mountain.
Stand on a high point to view Lijiang Ancient Town.
Wangu Tower is on Lion Rock, and the viewing angle is very good
A good place to overlook the ancient city and view the scenery. Climb to the top of Lion Mountain and you can have a panoramic view of the entire ancient city.
There is a road that leads up from Sifang Street, and it takes a while to climb. The tickets are quite expensive, and there are not many people. It should be more beautiful to take pictures at night.
Personally, I think that if you come to Lijiang, you must climb Lion Mountain once to see this ancient city that is currently the best preserved and largest in China. There are many people who have this idea. In the evening, the road to the mountain is bustling with people.
In fact, it doesn't take long to climb up Lion Mountain. We arrived in a short while. But the ticket cost 50 yuan, which was too expensive. It's better to stand on the high platform at the door and overlook the panoramic view of Dayan Ancient Town. Without spending a penny, you can have a panoramic view of this ancient town composed of densely packed eaves. At this moment, I finally understood why Lijiang has become one of the most popular ancient towns for people to visit. It's not just her literary and artistic feelings, nor is it just the crowds of people who want to relieve loneliness. Here you can look up and see the snow-capped mountains. The vast green grassland looks particularly moving under the blue sky. The air is fresh and the temperature is pleasant. It can be both a beautiful girl and a scholar, and it has a broad and open mind.
You can see the entire panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town, which is very beautiful and worth a visit.
Gemu Mountain is also called Lion Mountain. It is 3,770 meters above sea level and is the highest mountain around Lugu Lake. Lion is called "Gemu" in Mosuo language and "Sengge Gemu" in Tibetan. "Sengge" means lion and "Gemu" means white goddess. In Mosuo legend, Lion Mountain is the incarnation of Gemu goddess. People worship her. Every year on the 25th day of the seventh lunar month, the whole nation worships the goddess. It has been a grand festival for more than a thousand years.
The viewing platform here is not worth 50 yuan. There are many cafes and bars along the way with viewing platforms. If you just want to take pictures, give 5 yuan.
It's a rip-off. The ancient city requires tickets, and Lion Rock also requires tickets
Lion Mountain Park is located in the center of Lijiang Old Town. Wangu Tower is on Lion Mountain. The buildings of the old town are built along the foot of the mountain. From the mountain, you can overlook the whole old town (the night view is better at night) and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The mountain is shaded by trees, with dozens of ancient trees. Lion Mountain Park was built in 1998. The ticket is 50 yuan, which is a bit expensive. Most people only go to the entrance.
The best viewing platform overlooking the whole city of Lijiang is on Lion Mountain, where you can see the whole ancient city of Lijiang.
I was lucky enough to see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, but there was nothing to see inside.
From here you can overlook the entire ancient city and see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
I heard it is the highest point of the ancient city? The ancient city is basically made up of short Naxi buildings. Looking around, it seems nothing special.
I climbed a lot of stairs to get up! I could see the panoramic view of Lijiang Ancient Town, but I regretted it after I got up! There was nothing special to see!
Lion Mountain is one of the attractions in Dayan Ancient City. It takes about 40 to 50 minutes to get there from the big waterwheel. You will pass through the ancient city. There are all kinds of small shops and inns next to the bluestone paved road. On the way, you will pass several viewing platforms. The Wenchang Palace viewing platform has the best view and can overlook the entire ancient city. The ticket for Lion Mountain is 50 yuan per person. I personally think it is not necessary to go in. It is good to see the scenery along the way. If you are short of time, you can skip Lion Mountain and go directly to Heilongtan Park for a good stroll.
Lion Mountain, also known as Goddess Gemu Mountain, is a Mosuo sacred mountain beside Lugu Lake. In addition to visiting the Pearl of the Plateau, Lion Mountain is the first choice for Lugu Lake tourism.
The highest point of the ancient city, there are many small shops to visit along the way.
The highest point of Dayan Ancient Town, you can see the panoramic view of Dayan and the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the distance
The scenery is beautiful and it is very pleasant. Find a small cafe. In fact, you don't need to do anything. Just sit there quietly with a person you like, looking at each other, or thinking about each other. It's that simple. Isn't life in Lijiang supposed to be so simple?
Lion Hill is the highest point in Lijiang Ancient Town, overlooking the entire ancient town. Maybe the view is better during the day, I went there at night and it was also pretty good. It was a little tiring to climb up the mountain
Then we spent 40 yuan (because it was New Year's Eve, so it was cheap, normally it's 50 yuan) to go to Lion Rock to see the panoramic view of the ancient city. It is recommended to go in the afternoon so that there will be no backlight for taking pictures.
The best view of Lijiang Dayan Ancient Town is from here, you can see the whole ancient town. In the evening, the sun sets over the western hills, and later in the evening, thousands of houses are lit up. It is very pleasant to find a place and have a cup of tea.
The top of Lion Mountain is Wangu Tower. I lost contact with my mother and happened to meet her at Wangu Tower. The lion at the door seems to be practicing yoga, with a proud butt, stretching like a cat~ Coming down from Lion Mountain, a small shop is full of bubbles, creating a romantic atmosphere.
I looked at the navigation in the Mu Mansion and found that Lion Mountain was not far from the back door. This is because Lion Mountain used to be the private garden of the Tusi of the Mu Mansion. But the back door was not open, so I had to go back and exit from the front door. I thought I would start climbing from the mountain gate, but I didn’t expect that the mountain gate was on a very high step. The steps were winding, and there were many silver shops, cafes, and bars on both sides of the road, tempting pedestrians to stop and rest. When I arrived at the mountain gate, I found that the houses in the ancient city seemed to be very far away from here, and what was within reach seemed to be green mountains and white clouds, which showed how low the houses in the city were. Because it was late and the mountain gate was closed, we enjoyed the view from the "First Observation Deck of the Ancient City" outside the gate.
