The residence of the Mu chieftains of Lijiang in successive dynasties, the building combines the architectural style of the Central Plains of the Ming Dynasty with the craftsmanship of the Bai and Naxi peoples, and is a landmark of the ancient city.
After hundreds of years of glory, most of it was destroyed in wars, and the remaining parts were severely damaged in the earthquake in 1996. Currently, most of them have been rebuilt.
It is the "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Ancient Town. If you come to Lijiang and don't visit Mu Mansion, it is almost the same as not coming to Lijiang.

The ticket to Mu Mansion is 40 yuan. Since I have seen "Mu Mansion", I am still very interested in it, so I went in to have a look.
The overall architecture of the Mu Mansion imitates Han architecture, so from the outside it looks similar to ordinary Beijing-style buildings, but the interior furnishings are very Naxi.
The Mu Mansion gets higher as you go further back, and it’s great to take photos of the Lijiang Ancient Town from a high vantage point!
There is a building in the middle. The highest point is the best place to view Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. However, it was cloudy when we went there, so we couldn’t see the appearance of the sacred mountain.
The Mu Mansion in the ancient city was originally the government office of the hereditary chieftain Mu family in Lijiang. It is located on the eastern foot of Lion Mountain in the ancient city. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368 AD) and was rebuilt in 1998 and converted into the Ancient City Museum. The Mu Mansion covers an area of 46 mu. There are 162 rooms of various sizes in the mansion. The central axis is 369 meters long. The Sanqing Hall, Yuyin Tower, Guangbi Tower, Hufa Hall, Wanjuan Tower, Council Hall, and Zhongyi Square are arranged in an orderly manner from west to east. There are 11 plaques bestowed by emperors of successive dynasties hanging inside, reflecting the rise and fall of the Mu family. The TV series "Mu Mansion Storm" which tells the story of the Lijiang Mu chieftain was filmed here.
What makes Lijiang Ancient Town unique is the "Mu Mansion" attraction. With the lectures of professional tour guides, it can be said that this is the best and most unforgettable architectural complex I have visited in recent years. It is a must-see attraction to understand the history of Lijiang.
The garden scenery in the Mu Mansion is very beautiful, with graceful weeping willows, dead trees coming back to life, red walls and green tiles, and carved beams and painted buildings. With every step, I felt the atmosphere of the Mu Mansion when the master lived there. The building of the Mu Mansion is located on a central axis. Overlooking the scenery of the entire city of Lijiang from the Wangu Tower, I was impressed by the richness and elegance of the Mu Mansion and the grandeur and prosperity of the ancient city.
Mufu, the full name of which is the government office of the Tusi of the Mu Family, is located at the foot of Lion Mountain in Lijiang. It is the "Forbidden City" of the ancient city of Lijiang. It was built in the Yuan Dynasty, flourished in the Ming Dynasty, and declined in the Qing Dynasty, spanning more than 470 years.
There is an old saying that "there is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Palace in the south". It covers an area of 46 mu, with a central axis of 369 meters. The entire building complex faces east and faces west, which implies "facing the rising sun and getting the wood energy".
After Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, Ajia Ade, a Naxi chieftain in Lijiang, northwest Yunnan, judged the situation and led his people to surrender in 1382 AD, which was highly appreciated by Zhu Yuanzhang. Zhu Yuanzhang removed a stroke and a horizontal stroke from his surname and granted him the Chinese surname "Mu". From then on, the traditional Naxi father-son joint name system was changed to a Chinese surname. The ruling power of the Mu family hereditary chieftains lasted until the first year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, when the chieftains were replaced by officials. It lasted for 18 generations. If the four generations of the Yuan Dynasty are included, there are 22 generations in total. The Mu family ruled the Lijiang area for 470 years.
The Mu Palace is a living fossil for studying the chieftain system.
The ticket price for the Mu Mansion is 40 yuan per person. After purchasing the ticket, you can participate in a free tour guide. It is recommended to follow the tour guide to learn more about the architecture and history of the entire Mu Mansion. The entire tour guide lasts about 50 minutes.
After Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, Ajia Ade, a Naxi chieftain in Lijiang, northwest Yunnan, judged the situation and "led his followers to submit" in 1382 (the 15th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty), performing the etiquette of a minister, which greatly won Zhu Yuanzhang's appreciation. In the 16th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1383), Ajia Ade brought good horses produced in Lijiang and tributes to Nanjing to meet the Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang.
Emperor Zhu removed a stroke and a horizontal stroke from his own surname and granted him the surname "Mu". From then on, the traditional Naxi system of father and son having joint names was changed to Chinese surnames.
At the same time, Zhu Yuanzhang ordered the establishment of the Lijiang Tusi Yamen, allowing the descendants of Mu De (Ajia A De) to inherit the throne. After Mu De returned to Lijiang, he established the Lijiang prefectural government in Dayan Ancient Town. After being operated and expanded by successive Mu Tusi, it became what we know as the Mu Mansion today. Among the people of Lijiang, there is a saying that there is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. There is also a saying in Lijiang tourism that "If you have not been to the Mu Mansion, you have not been to Lijiang", which shows the importance of the Mu Mansion in Lijiang.
The old building of the Mu Mansion has been destroyed, and what you see now is a reconstruction.
The architectural style of the Mu Mansion adopts the central axis layout of the Central Plains, which is quite similar to the Forbidden City. For example, the main buildings such as the meeting hall, the Wanjuan Tower, and the Dharma Protector Hall are all built on the central axis of the Mu Mansion, while on both sides are side rooms and pavilions. The difference is that the Forbidden City follows the Feng Shui theory of the Central Plains and faces south, while the Mu Mansion faces east and faces the rising sun. Visiting the Mu Mansion really feels like visiting the Forbidden City.
The Mu Mansion is divided into two courtyards, the front and the back. Entering from the main gate, there are the meeting hall, the Wanjuan Building, and the Dharma Protector Hall, which are the "front courtyard", or the main courtyard; while the Jade Garden, Guangbi Building, Yuyin Building, Sanqing Hall, and all the way to the Lion Rock are the "back courtyard". The front and back courtyards are connected by a corridor and a street-crossing building.
The main buildings of the Mu Mansion include: the Loyalty Stone Archway, the Meeting Hall, the Wanjuan Building, the Dharma Protector Hall, the Guangbi Building, the Yuyin Building, the Sanqing Hall...
The Mu Mansion was originally the government office of the Mu family, the hereditary chieftain of Lijiang. It is located on the eastern foot of Lion Mountain in the ancient city. It was first built in the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368 AD) and was rebuilt in 1998 and converted into the Ancient City Museum.
The most worthwhile attraction in the ancient city is of course the Mu Mansion. Although it is a rebuilt complex, it still exudes the grandeur of a local chieftain. The saying that the Forbidden City is in the north and the Mu Mansion is in the south may be an exaggeration, but it is indeed difficult to find another place that is so beautiful and majestic. The Mu family chieftain ruled Lijiang for hundreds of years and was given a surname by Zhu Yuanzhang. He was loyal and kept the peace in the area, which is a good story. The scenic spot is equipped with a full-time tour guide, who explains very carefully.
There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. There is a saying in Lijiang that "If you haven't been to Mu Mansion, you haven't been to Lijiang". It turns out that Mu Mansion is the "Forbidden City" in Lijiang.
This place records the rise and fall of Naxi culture and witnesses the growth of generations. Lijiang is where the Naxi people live, but they did not have Han surnames. When Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, he bestowed the surname "Mu" on them. It was derived from "Zhu" with one stroke removed, so Mu Mansion became a symbol of Lijiang.
Go up along the main hall to the highest point, where you can overlook the whole view of Lijiang Ancient Town. The Mu Mansion in the near distance is magnificent and beautiful. In the distance, there are Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Tiger Mountain. With the blue sky and white clouds of Yunnan, it is like a moving painting in front of you. The TV series "Mu Mansion" was also filmed here.
The Mu Mansion was the Tusi government office in those days, occupying an important position in the ancient city of Lijiang. The highest point of the Mu Mansion is on Lion Mountain, and you can directly reach Wangu Tower from the back door. During the expansion of the Mu Mansion, because it might occupy a main street in the ancient city, the Tusi built a sky bridge across the street to connect his back garden for the convenience of the people. The story of the Mu Mansion tells the story of Tusi Mu Zeng, who is also a man with a lot of stories. In the end, he converted to Taoism at a young age.
Although less than one-third of the Lijiang Mufu has been restored, it is already very grand. One can imagine what it was like when Xu Xiake first visited the palace - the beauty of the palace was comparable to that of a king.
What impressed me most was the deep friendship of Tusi Mu Zeng: he sent Xu Xiake, who was seriously ill and whom he had only known for 12 days, back to his hometown in Jiangyin after a long journey of 5 months (150 days). (The transportation was backward at that time, but today it only takes half a day by plane.) There is actually no film or television work on this true story. What is the point of the literary and art circles?
The common name of Lijiang Mushi Tusi Yamen, located at the foot of Lion Mountain in Lijiang Old Town, is the "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Old Town culture. The entire building complex faces west and east, and is a splendid garden of architectural art.
The Naxi people originally did not have Han Chinese surnames. After Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, Ajia Ad, a Naxi chieftain in Lijiang, far away in northwest Yunnan, judged the situation and "led his followers to surrender" in 1382 AD, performing the ceremony of being a subject. This move was greatly appreciated by Zhu Yuanzhang, who removed a stroke and a horizontal stroke from his own surname and bestowed him with the Han surname "Mu". From then on, the traditional Naxi system of father-son joint names was changed to Han surnames.
The Mu Mansion is a splendid garden of architectural art, which fully reflects the elegance and temperament of the Central Plains architecture of the Ming Dynasty, while retaining the lingering charm of the simple and rough architecture of the Central Plains of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The layout of the palace facing west and east, with jade ditches crisscrossing and running water flowing, reflects the spirit of the traditional culture of the Naxi people. There is a saying in Lijiang tourism: "If you don't visit the Mu Mansion, you have not visited Lijiang."
Mufu, the residence of Tusi, is famous for the TV series "Mufu Fengyun". The introduction is easy to find on the Internet, so I won't say much. Let me comment on the service: We arrived at Mufu at about 6 o'clock in the afternoon and picked up our suitcases (we were at Lugu Lake two days ago). We asked at the ticket office and learned that we could store our luggage. We just needed to scan the QR code with our mobile phone. The staff also reminded us that we had to go back to the front door to pick up our luggage before 7 o'clock, otherwise the front door would be closed and tourists would have to go out from the side door, which would close at 8 o'clock.
My Yunnan Travel Notes: I am waiting for the wind to come here - Yunnan Lijiang / Lugu Lake / Shangri-La Travel Notes http://www.mafengwo.cn/i/17066239.html
Mufu was the residence of the chieftains of Yunnan during the Ming Dynasty, and its status is roughly equivalent to the Forbidden City in Yunnan. The residence of the chieftains of Yunnan was built against Lion Mountain, and it is divided into two scenic areas - the first part is the buildings from the foot of the mountain to the middle of the mountain, which is the Mufu scenic area, and the ticket price is 40 yuan. The second part is a small building from the middle of the mountain to the highest point of the mountain, which is the Wangulou scenic area, and the ticket price is 35 yuan. Taobao sells a combined ticket for 67 yuan.
The back door of the Mu Mansion is connected to the front door of Wangu Tower. If you visit it by yourself, it is relatively smooth to walk from beginning to end.
However, Mufu offers free explanations. Every once in a while, a tour guide will take about fifty tourists from the main entrance to the back door of the scenic area, explaining the history of Mufu while walking. It takes about 40 minutes to listen from beginning to end. During this period, the tour guide will not leave time for taking pictures. The explanation ends after the last building of Mufu halfway up the mountain. After that, tourists are free to move around. If you want to take pictures, you can walk back to the front door from the back and take pictures while walking. But if you want to go to Wangu Tower again, you need to walk the road again. Friends who want to go to Wangu Tower in Lion Mountain are strongly recommended to walk from the inside of Mufu to the back door, and then go to the entrance of Wangu Tower in Lion Mountain. If you take a detour from outside Mufu, you have to take a very long detour.
The reason why Mufu is called Mufu is because the emperor of the Ming Dynasty gave the Yunnan Tusi the Chinese surname "Mu", and the Yunnan Tusi added a stroke to represent the hat on the head and a mouth to represent the backpack, and gave the Naxi people the surname "He". The tour guide said that if you meet people with the surname Mu or He in Yunnan, it usually means that they are authentic Naxi people.
In fact, I think the architecture of the Mu Mansion is pretty good, and the entire area is also very large. In August, the sweet-scented osmanthus and other unknown flowers in the scenic area are in full bloom, emitting bursts of floral fragrance. Listening to the tour guide's explanation is really informative. So I think if you have time, I recommend everyone to come and take a look at the Mu Mansion.
I went there in May, and the water flow was already very strong. I heard a rumbling sound, which was very shocking. It is said that the rocks in the middle cannot be seen when the water rises in July and August. It is a good attraction and it takes about half an hour to an hour to visit.
The Mu Mansion is really not very attractive. The rebuilt Qing-style building is tacky.
If you don't hold the mentality of "I'm here anyway", there's really no need to go in and take a look.
If you consider that you can follow the free tour guide and have a free three-course tea tasting, the 40 yuan is still worth the price.
The price of booking tickets online is exactly the same as the price of selling tickets on site, and there is no discount.
When we climbed to the back door of the Mu Mansion and wanted to continue to Lion Rock, we were told that we still needed to buy a 35 yuan ticket to the mountain even if we did not go up the building.
It’s not free as stated in the China-TravelNote guide, so I decided not to use it.
So they had to turn back and go back to the entrance gate of the Mu Mansion, which was a long way back.
You can look up at the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and look down at the Old Town of Lijiang. The Mu Mansion is the essence of the Old Town of Lijiang.
The tour is free and takes 2 hours to complete. This is the only Mufu in Lijiang Ancient Town worth visiting. But it is not recommended to stay in the whole Lijiang.
To be honest, this attraction is average. If you are interested in history, you can visit it.
I personally feel that the Mu Mansion is really beautiful. You can also go in and listen to the explanations to learn about its story.
Not worth it, not worth it, I was attracted by the TV series, it would be better to go back and watch the TV series
Mufu Mansion (open from 8:30-19:00, visit duration 1:30, ¥40) is a worthwhile attraction in Lijiang Ancient Town. Enter Mufu Mansion from the main gate (remember to use the main gate of Mufu Mansion for navigation), climb up, and pass the back door to Wangu Tower. Mufu Mansion is quite good, it is the residence of the Naxi chieftain, and it also provides free tour guides. As soon as you enter the door, they will tell you to concentrate, and free tour guides will be provided later. This is a blessing for solo travelers. Before, I only encountered free tour guides in museums and terracotta warriors.
If you come to Lijiang Ancient Town and don’t visit Mu Mansion, it’s like you haven’t been to Lijiang.
It's very beautiful, with profound cultural heritage, it's worth a visit!
It is also a landmark ancient building in Lijiang City, Yunnan.
Mufu is the common name of the Mu family chieftain's office in Lijiang. It is located at the foot of Lion Mountain in the ancient city and is the "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Ancient City culture. The entire building complex faces west and east, and is a brilliant garden of architectural art. It fully reflects the elegance and temperament of the Central Plains architecture of the Ming Dynasty, while retaining the lingering charm of the simple and rough Central Plains architecture of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The layout of the palace facing west and east, with jade ditches crisscrossing and running water flowing, reflects the spirit of the traditional culture of the Naxi people. This is a must-see when you come to Lijiang.
It is said that a TV series is about the Mu's Mansion in Lijiang, a very small place with a long corridor passing through the street. We stayed in a chain inn next to the Mu's Mansion at that time, and we could see the Mu's Mansion and Lion Rock in the distance from the rooftop of the inn.
Well, I wouldn’t say that the reason I didn’t enter the Mu Mansion was because I was too hungry to walk..┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Feel the prosperity and unpredictable changes of a mansion
The Mu Mansion in many TV dramas feels a bit like the Forbidden City this time. I like the architectural style.
The Mu Mansion is known as the "Forbidden City" and "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Ancient Town. It was the residence and government office of the Naxi chieftain Mu family. It has gone through the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The ancient buildings are majestic and the pavilions are scattered. It looks like both a royal garden and the style of Suzhou gardens. It was called "the beauty of the palace, comparable to that of the king" by Xu Xiake, a traveler in the Ming Dynasty. The CCTV drama "Mu Mansion" was filmed here.
Along the central axis, there are successively magnificent archways and halls such as the Tianyu Liufang Wooden Archway, the Zhongyi Stone Archway, the Meeting Hall, the Dharma Protector Hall, the Guangbi Tower, the Yuyin Tower, the Wanjuan Tower, and the Sanqing Hall.
The Mufu Palace requires a ticket of 40 yuan per person, which is to go in and listen to the local customs and people. You can go there when you have nothing to do. It takes about an hour. You can climb up the small slope behind the Mufu Palace to see the panoramic view of the entire ancient town. It is also very beautiful~
There is another famous attraction in the ancient city, which is Mu's Mansion. Mu's Mansion is the residence of the chieftains of Lijiang in successive dynasties. The surname of the chieftains is Mu, so it is called Mu's Mansion. There was once a TV series "Mu's Mansion Storm", which tells the grievances and hatreds within the Mu family.
The Mu Palace is known as the Little Forbidden City. You should visit it when you come to Lijiang.
I bought a ticket and went straight to visit. I didn't choose to go alone. Instead, there was a free tour guide who led the team to learn about the history of Mufu. It turned out that this was the richest official residence in Lijiang. All the buildings are imitations of the Forbidden City architectural style, and even the names are homophones. It can be said to be a local tyrant. The tour guide's explanation took everyone to appreciate the culture of the Naxi people and understand the origin of Mufu. It can be regarded as a harvest of historical knowledge.
All the buildings in the Mu Mansion are made of wood, which keeps them warm in winter and cool in summer. The only drawback is that they are afraid of fire. Every blade of grass, every brick and every night in the Mu Mansion reflects the power and glory of the time.
A landmark of the ancient city, most of it is now rebuilt. So, if you come to Lijiang and don’t visit the Mu Mansion, it’s almost like you haven’t come to Lijiang at all.
The Mu Mansion is right in the center of the ancient city and is worth a visit. The more disappointing thing is that the ticket price was reduced from 60 to 40 yuan last year, but China-TravelNote still shows 60 yuan. I bought a 42 yuan ticket on China-TravelNote, which is a little more expensive than buying it on site.
Although I'm not very interested, I went to have a look since I was here. Fortunately, I went, otherwise I wouldn't have seen the back garden of the chieftain, which is really big. The ticket includes a guide, which is worth it. It is definitely like a palace. I heard that the chieftain was afraid that the emperor would find out that he had built such a large and magnificent palace.
The common name of the Mu clan chieftain's yamen in Lijiang. I don't know much about architecture, but I think it looks good.
The Mu Mansion has magnificent architecture and splendid palaces, which are both magnificent and elegant like the royal gardens and Suzhou gardens. Every 15 minutes, a guide dressed in ethnic costumes will give free explanations to tourists, introducing the history, architecture, and culture of the Mu Mansion. The free guides will lead tourists all the way to the halfway point of Lion Rock. You can wander around at will or listen to the explanations all the way up the mountain.
Wooden wooden wooden wooden wooden wooden.
It is a relatively quiet place in the ancient city.
The Mu Mansion provides explanations. While visiting, listening to the explanations and checking information, the turbulent story of hundreds of years ago seems to emerge before your eyes.
The Mu Mansion in the TV series Mu Mansion
It's really big and beautiful inside~
The historical figures of the Mu Mansion have long gone, and what remains is the unchanging Mu Mansion and the eternal history.
The free guide was a fat guy. He explained patiently and carefully along the way and answered our questions seriously. It was great. Here we learned that Lijiang is a Naxi settlement with its own writing - Dongba script. It is "a paradise for men and a world for women" because women are the main labor force in the family. They have to do a lot of rough work every day and bear the responsibility of supporting the family. As for men, they are responsible for the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and improve the spiritual quality of the whole family. So, Naxi men are too happy. The little guide told us that in the past, girls here were beautiful because they could bear more labor. If they were too thin, they might not get married. So women were called Fat Jinmei and men were called Fat Jinge. In fact, you can still see that most of the old people selling things in the ancient city are women. It seems that the remnants of the old society are very deep. At the highest point of the Mu Mansion, you can overlook the panoramic view of the ancient city. The sun is just right and the breeze is not dry.
"There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south." If we see the secular life of Lijiang in the ancient city of Lijiang, then in the Mu Mansion, we will read the history of the rise and fall of a great Tusi family that was once glorious in the southwest. The Mu Mansion is a splendid garden of architectural art. It fully reflects the elegance and temperament of the Central Plains architecture of the Ming Dynasty, while retaining the lingering charm of the simple and rough architecture of the Central Plains of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The layout of the building facing west and east, with jade ditches crisscrossing and running water flowing in the palace, reflects the spirit of the traditional culture of the Naxi people.
In Lijiang Ancient Town, you have to go up halfway up the mountain and buy a separate ticket to enter.
You can go there, but if you have been to the Forbidden City and the Summer Palace, you may not feel much for the Mu Mansion.
The two characters "loyalty and righteousness" are hung high in the center of the memorial archway, which shows that the ideological governance in ancient times was inseparable from the word "loyalty".
"There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Palace in the south." The Mu Palace is a splendid garden of architectural art. It fully reflects the elegance and temperament of the Central Plains architecture of the Ming Dynasty, while retaining the lingering style of the simple and rough Central Plains architecture of the Tang and Song Dynasties. Its west-facing east-facing layout with crisscrossing jade ditches and flowing running water in the palace reflects the spirit of the traditional culture of the Naxi people.
Mufu is the common name of the Mu clan chieftain's yamen in Lijiang. There is a saying in Lijiang tourism: "If you don't visit Mufu, you haven't visited Lijiang."
The beauty of the Mu Mansion will be appreciated by those who have watched "Story of Yanxi Palace". It is quiet, peaceful, and grand. The royal gardens are beautiful with every step. It is less cold than the Forbidden City and more beautiful with vegetation, unique courtyards, and warm floral fragrance.
It was originally the official residence of the local chief. The buildings have been renovated and look magnificent. It mainly introduces the local history.
The Mu Mansion is good and recommended. After entering the Mu Mansion, you can play by yourself for a while, and then it is recommended to follow the individual tourist guide. The guide will explain the history of the Mu Mansion, appreciate the culture of the Naxi people, and drink free tea leisurely. I personally think it is very good.
Tickets for the Mufu Palace can be purchased directly online for only 48 yuan, and 60 yuan on site during the off-season. There is a free explanation after entering, every 15 minutes, and the guide is dressed in ethnic costumes. Friends who are interested in history and customs should not miss it!
The tickets booked on the reviews are much cheaper. The maintenance fee of the ancient city is not mandatory now, so it is still worth a visit. There is a free explanation at the entrance, which is much better than walking around by yourself. The guide takes tourists all the way to the halfway point of Lion Rock. The whole journey takes about an hour. The view overlooking the ancient town is the most beautiful scenery. Don't miss it. The photo taking at the entrance is a bit of a pitfall. The keychain given away can't even see the people clearly. The large photo is 15 yuan each. If you don't bring a camera, you can consider it.
In the ancient city of Lijiang, if you like ancient architecture, Mufu is a place worth visiting. In Mufu, you can see ancient buildings with red tiles, which look like a small version of the Forbidden City. There is nothing special about it. If you don’t like architecture, it is not recommended to visit. If you want to visit, you must follow the guide in Mufu and listen to their explanations to better understand Mufu. (Recommended playing time: 2-3 hours, it is meaningful to take your time to see it)
There are free guides in the Mu Mansion, wearing ethnic costumes, but because there are a lot of people, you have to follow them closely to hear more clearly. Walking inside the Mu Mansion, you can go directly to Lion Mountain, and from the Wangu Tower you can overlook the entire Lijiang River. When we were walking back, we accidentally discovered Huaxiang, but unfortunately we didn't know how to pose, so we wasted this holy place for taking photos.
You must listen to the explanation of the guide when visiting Mufu. It is very interesting. I forgot the ticket fee, but it was probably more than 100 yuan. After entering, the guide will take you to drink tea. It is indeed a tea salesman, but it is not expensive and will not force you to buy it. You can still try it. If you want to bring gifts to family or friends, it is still a good choice. 4 boxes cost 100 yuan. Bai Xuehao is very interesting. It will be sweet after drinking. My husband and I like it. We bought a total of 500 yuan to give home as gifts and drink for ourselves.
I personally like this place very much. The buildings inside are magnificent and exquisitely crafted.
Tips: It is recommended to visit in the evening before closing (around 4pm) when there will be fewer people visiting and you can also avoid tour groups.
In Mufu, if you can wear Naxi costumes and enjoy a day as a "lady of noble family", it would be so beautiful and fun!
The scenic area has free guided tours, which take about an hour. This is the pride of Lijiang people, where you can listen to the voice of history.
Climb up the hillside and you can overlook the ancient city from the highest hall of the Mu Mansion. You can sit in the pavilion to rest when you are tired, but most people just stay downstairs to visit, which is a pity.
The Mu Mansion is very large, with various courtyards, attics, flowers, plants and trees. It is the "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Ancient City culture.
We climbed to the highest point of the Mu Mansion and overlooked the entire Mu Mansion and the ancient city of Lijiang. The blue sky, white clouds and the ancient city were all in sight.
In the afternoon, we arrived at the Mu Mansion, which is located west of the city center. We saw a white screen wall with Xu Xiake's words "The beauty of the palace is comparable to that of the royal family". Opposite it is the loyalty archway in front of the gate of the Mu Mansion. As a museum restored in the 1990s, the Mu Mansion has done a good job in restoring the old to its original state on the basis of the World Bank's active interest-free loan. This also shows the reputation and status of the Mu Mansion in the world. There are 100 volumes of the Ming Dynasty Tripitaka, a century-old tiger skin, and a Ming Dynasty site in the palace. Each volunteer guide has different focuses and is very individual.
The buildings here are all renovated and do not have a strong sense of history. However, the TV series "Mufu Fengyun" in which Qiu Xiuyan made a stunning appearance a few years ago is deeply memorable. She partnered with two uncles, Yu Rongguang and Michael Miu, so it is better to walk around and reminisce.
The current Mu Mansion is actually rebuilt for filming TV dramas, but the public welfare tour guides are still very dedicated to telling the story of the Mu Mansion in the past. Sanqing Temple, located high above the Mu Mansion, offers a panoramic view of the ancient city of Lijiang. In addition, you don't have to go to the Wangu Tower, which charges a fee.
When you come to Lijiang, it is recommended that you must visit the Mu Mansion. The scenic area is guided by tour guides for free. The explanations are humorous and very helpful for understanding the architecture of the Mu Mansion and Naxi culture.
Absolutely worth the price. As soon as we entered, the service staff told us to wait a while, and when there were more people, a free tour guide would explain to us and take photos for us to make key chains for free. The tour guide explained to us that it would take about an hour, and we could take it when we came back.
The tour guide's explanation was very attentive and audible. The buildings are all made of wood.
Tickets cost 60, and there were still a few people queuing to buy tickets. Didn't get in. The tickets were obviously too expensive.
Outside the Mu Mansion, there is a stone tablet with the words "天雨流芳" inscribed on it. In Naxi language, it means "go study". Unfortunately, the Mu Mansion was closed when I went there. I heard that there is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. I missed the Mu Mansion on the first day and insisted on seeing its honor on the last day in Lijiang. It is a wonderful ending to end the trip to Lijiang with the Mu Mansion, the residence of the Mu family chieftains of all dynasties and the cultural center of Lijiang. The Mu Mansion combines the majestic palace architecture of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, draws running water, plants trees, and continues the characteristics of the Naxi and Bai people complementing each other with the natural environment. It covers a large area. The Mu Mansion we appreciate today is only one-third of the heyday of the Mu Tusi. The Mu Mansion faces east instead of the traditional north and south, because the capital at that time was on the east side, implying that the Mu family bowed to the emperor. In order to avoid obstructing the passage of the people to Sifang Street for market and horse caravan trade, Mu Tusi built a pedestrian bridge between the front yard and the back garden, and he could also observe the people's conditions at close range through the bridge. His friendship with Xu Xiake was praised by people.
Tips: The opening hours of Mufu are from 8:30 to 17:30. Don't miss it. Mufu is worth a good visit. The explanation time is about 50 minutes. We stayed for an hour and a half, not including the Lion Mountain behind Mufu. I still feel it is too rushed. You can buy discounted tickets online, but you must buy them two hours in advance.
The arrangement of the Mu Mansion is quite humane, and there will be someone to help explain the characteristics of each room and the culture it represents. Without saying too much, my mother immediately searched for Mu Mansion Fengyun when she got home to see this action, and it was clear at a glance how unique the Naxi are.
If you don’t go to Mu Mansion, you have not come to Lijiang. So we decided to visit Mu Mansion.
Tickets are 60 yuan on site and 48 yuan if purchased online in advance, and can only be used after 2 hours.
As soon as you enter the Mu Mansion, there will be a free tour guide to take you around the entire scenic spot. The tour guide is indeed free, which is a good thing about the Mu Mansion. And someone will take pictures of you when you enter the door. When you leave, you can get a one-inch photo and souvenirs for free. If you want a large photo, you can pay 15 yuan per photo.
There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. The tour guide's introduction will give you a better understanding of the history of the Mu Mansion. It is quite interesting. The steps of the entire Mu Mansion are high, and you cannot step on the steps when crossing them, you must step over them at once.
There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. This is absolutely true. The Mu Mansion is very large and its architecture is the same as the Forbidden City in Beijing. Friends who like history can take their time to visit. The TV series Mu Mansion was filmed here.
From the Mu Mansion, you can overlook the entire Lijiang Ancient Town. There are also guides who will introduce the history of the Mu Mansion and the ethnic customs of the locals.
There is a TV series "Mufu Fengyun" that was filmed here. I didn't know it until I came here. I watched it after I came back from my trip. It is said that this drama was broadcast on CCTV at that time and was the most watched TV series on CCTV.
As the saying goes, there is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Palace in the south. This is the small Forbidden City in the south. Tickets are 60 yuan each, which can be purchased online in advance, 48 yuan per ticket, and you can enter the park 2 hours after the ticket is issued. We bought the tickets online while we were having lunch, and it was just in time to go in after lunch.
There are free guides in Mu Mansion. I followed the guides all the way and learned a lot of knowledge. To put it simply, this is the residence of the Tusi of the Mu family, which is equivalent to the residence of a local lord and a typical representative of Naxi culture and style.
During the heyday of the Naxi people, the geographical location was sandwiched between the Bai and Tibetan peoples in Dali. In order to survive, they had to rely on the Qing emperor at that time, so that the unique ideas and culture of the Naxi people could be preserved. Otherwise, it would be easy to be assimilated by the surrounding areas, and we would not see these today. The doorhead looks small, but it is bigger than you can imagine. The construction of the house is very well-structured, especially the corridors, which are symmetrical on the left and right. While walking, you will pass by a street crossing. In the past, the toast here (note that the toast here is not bread!) was left behind to make it convenient for the people to go to Sifang Street to go to the market. As the saying goes, he who wins the hearts of the people wins the world.
The ancient city of Lijiang does not have city walls because the word “木” (wood) when surrounded becomes “困” (trapped), which is quite taboo; and it is a transit station on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road, so in order to welcome guests from all directions, it became the only ancient city in the country without city walls.
Go up to the top and you can see the ancient city. Going up, there is also a Lion Rock, which is said to be a toast.
The guide in the Mu Mansion said that there is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south. After a tour, I felt that this trip was worth it. The Mu Mansion is beautiful and large, and it feels like Grandma Liu visiting the Grand View Garden. Tickets for the Mu Mansion can be purchased directly online, which is only 48 yuan. It costs 60 yuan to buy it on site during the off-season. There are free explanations in the Mu Mansion, and the tour takes 15 minutes. People like me who failed history must listen to it! Although it was rebuilt later due to an earthquake, its momentum has not diminished at all, and it has the rhythm of a small Forbidden City. The Mu Mansion has the most and the most terrifying thing in Lijiang-----stairs! ! Looking out of the Mu Mansion, it always feels like peeking at the daily life of people outside the city. The gardens of the Mu Mansion are also very good, and they belong to the kind that you fall in love with at first sight. In a trance, it feels like traveling to the water town of Jiangnan. In Lijiang, you can actually see cherry blossoms and wisteria flowers in full bloom at the same time, which is the most beautiful posture. Lijiang is really a magical place. It is spring all year round. It is not an exaggeration at all. Every day when the flowers bloom is recorded. I didn't calculate the time well. I came to Mufu too late and had to rush to see it because it closed at sunset. I didn't see it carefully, so guests who are coming should reserve an extra hour or two. Although Mufu is very beautiful, there is one thing that makes me and my mother unhappy. The official closing time is 5 o'clock or 5:30, but it seems that there is no unified closing time for the whole park. It all depends on the mood of the staff. It will be difficult for tourists to control the visiting time. So, everyone should go to Mufu early.
You can still go to Mufu to learn about the history and culture there. Now you don't have to pay the ancient city maintenance fee to enter Mufu. It's cost-effective to book tickets online. The scenic spot ticket is 60, and the online ticket is only 48
On my last day in Lijiang, I came to the most famous attraction in the ancient city, Mu's Mansion. Mu's Mansion is the common name of the Mu's chieftain's yamen in Lijiang. It is located at the foot of Lion Mountain in Lijiang Ancient City and is the "Grand View Garden" of Lijiang Ancient City culture.
"There is the Forbidden City in the north and the Mu Mansion in the south." The Mu Mansion is a splendid garden of architectural art. It fully reflects the elegance and temperament of the Central Plains architecture of the Ming Dynasty, while retaining the lingering charm of the simple and rough architecture of the Central Plains of the Tang and Song Dynasties. The layout of the palace facing west and east, with jade ditches crisscrossing and running water flowing, reflects the spirit of the traditional culture of the Naxi people. There is a saying in Lijiang tourism: "If you don't visit the Mu Mansion, you won't visit Lijiang." There is also a sentence of Xu Xiake engraved on the entrance of the scenic spot: The beauty of the palace is comparable to that of a king.
The large-scale costume TV series "Mufu Fengyun" broadcasted by CCTV was filmed here. If you happen to have watched this drama, you must come here, as if you have traveled back to the drama, and every piece of wood and tile is so familiar.
The Mu Mansion is backed by Lion Rock. When you look at the scenery from the mountain, you will find that the color of the tiles used in the Mu Mansion is different from that of the tiles in other ancient cities. They are both blue-green. If you go to the Mu Mansion, please pay attention.
You will find that the entire Mu Mansion is oriented east-west, with its back against Lion Rock. One reason is that it is backed by a mountain in terms of Feng Shui, and the other is out of respect for the royal family. As we all know, the Forbidden City faces south and north, while the Mu Mansion is oriented east-west, and it conforms to the terrain of the Azure Dragon on the left and the White Tiger on the right.
