Yubeng Village is a Tibetan village at the foot of the Goddess Peak of Meili Snow Mountain. It consists of two villages: Shang Yubeng (3,150 meters above sea level) and Xia Yubeng (3,050 meters above sea level), about one kilometer apart. Yubeng is the highest village on the Meili Snow Mountain and one of the villages closest to the snow mountain.
Steps to enter Yubeng route:
1️⃣ Shangri-La - Deqin Feilai Temple bus costs 67 yuan. If you stop at Deqin Bus Station, take a taxi to Feilai Temple for about 20 yuan. Accommodation near Feilai Temple
2️⃣ There is a shuttle bus from Feilai Temple to Xidang Village at around 8:20 in the morning, which costs 20 yuan per person. A shared taxi is also 20 yuan per person. If you can't share a car, you will have to pay more per person. A chartered car costs 120-150 yuan.
3️⃣ Xidang Village has options:
📌The hike to Yubeng takes 6-8 hours, covering 12 kilometers uphill and 6 kilometers downhill. The road is very steep and has some uphill climbs. It's recommended for those with good physical fitness.
📌There are special vehicles for the scenic area, all of which are off-road vehicles, because other cars can't go there at all, and private cars are not allowed to enter.

🎫 To Nanzong Yakou 150 (the 12 kilometers uphill mentioned above), you still have to walk 6 kilometers downhill.
🎫 200 to Shangyubeng Village, most people choose this option. 🎫 260 to Xiayubeng Village, this is not necessary. Shangyubeng to Xiayubeng is 1.5 kilometers, a 20-minute walk. It takes 40 minutes to get from Xiayubeng to Shangyubeng.
Xia Yubeng Village is a paradise on earth. Although a day's hike to Xia Yubeng Village involves a long downhill section, the scenery of Xia Yubeng is really amazing. I ordered a bowl of local chicken soup at the inn where I stayed and drank it for two days. The locals were very enthusiastic and would say "Zhaxi Delek" to you, which was really great!

When we arrived at Xiayubeng Village, we went crazy. Why? We were so excited. It felt like we had entered a paradise. It was so beautiful! The sun was setting, shining on the snow-capped mountains like a shining Buddha's light.
Such a small village is comparable to Switzerland. The rain avalanche at the foot of the Goddess Peak must be a blessing from God.
Hiking in Yubeng, this is one of our resting places. I really like this kind of paradise.
It is recommended to stay a little inside Xiayubeng, so that you can go to the sacred waterfall, take pictures of the reflection on the snow, and take a walk.
Living in Shangyubeng, going to Xiayubeng, it is a very interesting village; however, climbing up Xiayubeng made me experience the slope of despair.
Xiayubeng under the Fairy Peak is still quite beautiful, but it is certainly not as beautiful as when it was first discovered. Although Xiayubeng is not a paradise, it is not the human world either!
Finally, we arrived at Yubengxia Village. This village is mostly inhabited by locals, and upon seeing visitors from outside, the locals warmly greet us with a greeting: "Tashi Delek!" This is a truly heartwarming experience. At the foot of Meili Snow Mountain, on the edge of Yubengxia Village's meadow, a short distance along the snow-capped mountains, we enter a quiet and mysterious forest. Further in, the road suddenly opens up, leading to a boisterous mountain spring. Countless mani piles, large and small, are stacked here. The rushing spring, the icy water, and the gentle little sister are like a beautiful painting. At the foot of this sacred snow-capped mountain, in this tranquil forest, beside this roaring spring, we piled mani piles while escorting the sun home. How romantic!
Early morning in Yubeng is a completely different scene. Horses, cows, pigs, and other pets all go for walks. The clanging of copper bells, accompanied by the hum of prayer wheels, echoes throughout the village. Smoke from cooking fires curls upward, curling around the treetops and spreading across the grassy plains, creating a distant and tranquil atmosphere.

There are more Tibetans in Xiayubeng, and butter tea is their specialty. The prices for food and accommodation here are also lower than in Shangyubeng.
Another good thing about Xia Yubeng is that there are few people here and not many tourists. It feels like there are more locals than tourists, so if you want to be quiet, you can stay in Xia Yubeng for a while.
A three-day hike in Yubeng Village, 84 kilometers, is unforgettable! The hotels in Yubeng Village are quite good, at least they have hot water for foot soaking.
Staying in Yubeng Village makes it super convenient to go to Shenhu Lake and Shenpu Waterfall. You can see the snow-capped mountains while lying on the bed in the inn you are staying in. You can fall asleep with the snow-capped mountains as your pillow, and the first thing you see when you wake up is the snow-capped mountains. It feels great!

As the sun was setting, a beam of sunlight filtered down between the two snow-capped peaks, shimmering the winding stream behind Lower Yubeng. Smoke from the village dinner kitchens began to rise. I only regretted not being able to capture such a beautiful scene.

We headed up the mountain, built Mani piles to pray, and filled cups with snowmelt water. The natural mineral water was sweet and pure. We encountered thick snow on the mountain and built a snowman together. We climbed the mountain again and drank the holy water of Guanyin to remove all suffering.
The vast snow at the foot of the Goddess Peak satisfied all my and my companions' fantasies about snow. It was a spiritual journey and a lot of experience. Walking at high altitude for 8 hours was a test of my life and the ultimate challenge to my physical endurance.
Tour guide Yongqun said that it is a blessing to visit the sacred waterfall. It is a baptism and will bring good luck.

We chartered a car from the observation deck to the hot springs in Xidang Village, where we began our hike to Yubeng. Yubeng Village is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, with no roads. Beyond the Yakou Pass, there's no cell phone signal. The village still relies on its own hydroelectric power. When we arrived, Xidang Village was celebrating its own festival. In public, Tibetan men and women dressed in beautiful Tibetan clothing presented khatas and highland barley wine to distant visitors. Those who didn't drink the wine could simply dip their hands in it and flick it into the air. This was also the only place where you could rent a mule. The journey ahead was difficult, and since the plateau wasn't conducive to exercise, I wasn't very fit, so I rented one. Entering Yubeng required climbing a mountain, a relatively easy path, though carrying backpacks made the journey a bit arduous. Yubeng consists of two villages, Upper and Lower Yubeng. They're sparsely populated, with seemingly only a few dozen households. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, Lower Yubeng lies just below Shennv Peak and Wuguan Peak. The massive glacier descending from the snow-capped mountains resembles a monster's tongue, seemingly threatening to devour the tiny village. There were three guesthouses: Meili First Guesthouse in Upper Yubeng, Hikers' Home between the two villages, and Aqingbu's in Lower Yubeng. We stayed at Aqingbu's for the night, where the accommodations were the most basic of our Yunnan trip. It was a two-story wooden building with a few simple beds and not even an electric blanket. We looted the quilts and blankets from the next room. Below the house was a winding river, and upstream, there was a water-powered prayer wheel. Nearby was a newly built religious building, not yet open to the public. The lights were just basic bulbs, completely powered by hydroelectric power, and the light was dim. There was a TV in the host's room, but our only after-dinner entertainment was to pull up a stool and sit on the second-floor floor, staring blankly at the snow-capped mountains.

It's a 30-minute walk from both Yubeng and Shangyubeng.

This is a relatively pristine place. I've been to Niubei Mountain before, and that also required a self-guided hike. If you can't walk halfway up Niubei Mountain, you can use motorcycles or off-road vehicles. However, Yubeng Village only has donkeys, and those with acrophobia probably can't ride them, as donkeys tend to stalk the cliffside, which can be quite frightening. It's recommended for those with hiking experience and ability, and those who can adapt to high altitudes. Otherwise, you'll be stuck on the same path, with no way back! BUT! The scenery is beautiful. While Upper Yubeng Village isn't far from Lower Yubeng Village, the average hike takes about an hour. We stayed overnight at an inn in Lower Yubeng Village. The next morning, when we emerged, it felt like a fairyland, with mountains shrouded in mist. Then we set off for Shenpu, catching the special year of the Sheep, when circumambulating the mountain is a meaningful experience. We also had to enjoy a dip in the Shenpu Waterfall.
A very primitive small village, but now it has also been commercialized

Quieter than Yubeng Upper Village, it's a must-see on the way to the Shen Waterfall. If you're heading out of Yubeng via Ninon Gorge, it's best to stay here. However, getting to Yubeng Upper Village, especially after visiting the Shen Waterfall, requires some perseverance.
It is much quieter than Shangyubeng and more suitable for stopping and daydreaming.

Xia Yubeng Village is located at an altitude of about 3,200 meters. It has fresh air, charming scenery, and convenient dining and accommodation. It is the only way to reach the Shenpu Waterfall and the exit of Ni Nong.
You must pass through Xiayubeng to go to Shenpu Waterfall. You can stay here the night before or after Shenpu Waterfall. When you go out from Ninon, you can also start from here. The food and accommodation are good. The location must be about 100 meters lower than Shangyubeng, but it takes about half an hour to get there from Shangyubeng.
