The Wumao Earth Forest Scenic Area in Yuanmou, Chuxiong, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (Blue Moon Valley) in Lijiang, and Tianbaozhai in Shunan Bamboo Sea in Yibin are the top three attractions where I took the most photos on this trip.

The parking lot of the scenic spot is located outside the ticket purchase and ticket inspection gate, which is very convenient. (There is also a parking lot inside the scenic spot, probably it was full at the time?) The ticket price is 70 yuan, not including the battery car fee.

Although the 10 yuan battery car fee is at your own expense, I advise everyone to take the battery car. It takes only a few minutes to get to the viewing platform on the top of the mountain, where you can overlook the entire earth forest from a high altitude, then go down the steps of the scenic area to the interior of the earth forest and walk out of the scenic area, which is very reasonable.

The scenic area's battery car only provides one-way service up the mountain, and there is no car to go down the mountain!

If you choose to hike up the mountain, you can only walk out the same way you went up.

The geomorphic features and mountain structures in the Yuanmou Wumao Earth Forest Scenic Area are very similar to those of the Dasha River (also known as the "Dahaidao") in Hami, Xinjiang, which I have visited before. The difference is that the Dasha River area in Hami is barren and has nothing but stones; there are some saplings here and there to provide shade for tourists.

Secondly, this is a tourist attraction, there are some service facilities to sell popsicles and drinks, the most important thing is the tour route and plank road steps; Hami? If you are exiled there for a few days, you will become jerky and almost weathered. (We were unlucky to drive a jeep deep into the Gobi Desert, and it broke down!!)

One is to take a tour bus to the top of the mountain and then walk down, and the other is to hike the whole way. It is recommended that friends with better physical strength can choose to hike the whole way, which can be completed in 3-4 hours. From the foot of the mountain, gradually walk into the mountain. The stone forest starts from a small earth hill at the beginning, then a small earth forest, and finally reaches the highest point to climb up and look far away. The vision suddenly opens up, and the spectacular scenery constantly impacts the brain.

It is very relaxing to visit Wumao. The earth forest is quite dense. Walking in the earth forest is like walking on a tree-lined path. The cool breeze is refreshing. The exit is the gate of the scenic area, so there is no need to climb the mountain. Wumao has many scenic spots and can be viewed all day long. The best viewing time is one hour before sunset in the afternoon for the No. 1 cave scenic area and one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset in the afternoon for the No. 2 cave scenic area.

When looking down from the top of the mountain, I was still a little worried about the long journey. In fact, it is not as far as Bryce Canyon Park. Walking along the dirt road, there is gradually a water source. Following the water flow, there is a rest pavilion half an hour away, which provides simple food and, more importantly, sells popsicles. In such a hot environment, this is simply the greatest happiness! And there is only a toilet here on the entire road, so don't drink too much water on the mountain, otherwise it will be very uncomfortable. The scenery in the first half is not very good, but the soil forest terrain in the second half is richer, and it is also a good place to take pictures. Don't worry about the scenery slowly, because it is not far from the exit.

Special tip: If you don't want to hike for a long time, you must spend 10 yuan to take the battery car up the mountain at the entrance, first overlook the earth forest from the top of the mountain, and then hike down the mountain to enjoy the scenery. Because the battery car is a one-way trip up the mountain, if you walk up from the bottom of the mountain, there is no car to take you down the mountain, you can only go down from where you came up.

The scenery is great. It is recommended to stay near the scenic area. The light in the morning and evening is the best!

It is large in scale and different in style from the Langbapu Earth Forest, but the map of the scenic area does not seem to be very accurate.

It feels very good and shocking. It is suitable for taking photos. There are not many people. If you are not in a hurry, you can go and see it. We got off the highway from Chuxiong and took the national highway, which is a bit far. The single ticket has risen to 100, plus the other two 140. We only saw one with our children because it was too hot. If you book it online two hours in advance, it will be 80, which is 20 cheaper than buying it on the spot.

At present, Banguo Earth Forest has not been developed. Wumao Earth Forest, also known as Hutiaotan Earth Forest, is located in Wumao Township, Yuanmou County. It is said to be the largest and most developed. Xinhua Earth Forest, also known as Langbapu Earth Forest, is located in Langbapu Village, Xinhua Township, Yuanmou County. There are no tourist buses to this place. If you don’t join a tour group, you can only take a minibus from Yuanmou County to Xinhua Township. The bus at 12:40 noon can reach the entrance of the earth forest because the driver is from Langbapu Village. Other buses cannot reach it, so you can only find another way. The most convenient way is to call Xiao Hei. Hei Shaowu, a promising young man from Langbapu Village, was the first to introduce Langbapu Earth Forest to everyone. He opened a decent family hotel.

When talking about Yuanmou, many people may only know the Yuanmou Man Ruins, but they don’t know that the most amazing thing about Yuanmou is the earth forest. There are as many as 18 earth forests in Yuanmou, three of which are the most spectacular, namely Wumao Earth Forest (also known as "Tiger Leaping Beach Earth Forest"), Langbapu Earth Forest (also known as "Xinhua Earth Forest"), and Banguo Earth Forest. When we arrived at the scenic spot, we did not see any tourists. We stood above the scenic spot and looked down. We found that it was no different from the free ones outside, so we left without entering the scenic spot. For this place, it is recommended that friends who visit can walk more outside the scenic spot, and you can still see the semi-beautiful earth forest.

When the earth forests of various shapes and forms spread out in front of me, I found that I could not find a suitable word to describe the scene in front of me. It may be that we just saw the sunset when we climbed to the highest viewing platform, or it may be some other reason. Although we were a little scared when we went up and down, it was really hard to describe the feeling of standing at a high place and seeing the whole picture of the earth forest. It will be unforgettable for a long time. What's more rare is that the landscapes on both sides are completely different. This place makes me feel that the development is reasonable and the number of tourists is within an acceptable range.

From the moment I stepped into the earth forest, it was as if I had traveled to another world. There was almost no breath of human civilization here. There was only the azure blue sky and the towering khaki earth peaks. The two bright colors intertwined and shocked me deeply.

With the opening of the Ya'an-Xichang Expressway and the Panzhihua-Kunming Expressway, it is very convenient to go to Yuanmou Earth Forest. The scenic spot is about 13 kilometers away from the Yuanmou Earth Forest Expressway Exit. When we walked into the Yuanmou Wumao Earth Forest, it was the scorching sun. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, and the sand flew up, covering the sky... When we opened our eyes after the wind passed, the scene in front of us stunned us: primitive, desolate, rough, barren mountains, and valleys. It felt like walking into a wild and ancient world made of sand and clay. Its magic far exceeded our imagination!

These bizarre geological features of earth pillars and sand sculptures and clay sculptures in various postures are both primitive and mysterious, and weird and confusing (I don’t have the courage to go into many places alone). Their natural shapes are either human or object-like, lifelike, realistic, exquisite and delicate, and full of charm!

We were deeply shocked by this unique landform and all of us admired "the wonders of nature's creation". We thank God for the gift and thank nature for giving us!

     

The Earth Forest, Rain Forest and Stone Forest are known as the three major forests in Yunnan. It is really magical to watch the Earth Forest.

Yuanmou Wumao Earth Forest is located in Yuanmou County, 32 kilometers away from the county seat. It is a must-see place. Yuanmou Earth Forest is known as the world's first earth forest wonder, with a history of 1.5 million years. In recent years, the film and television blockbusters "A Thousand Miles Alone" and "The Promise" were both filmed in Yuanmou Earth Forest in Yunnan.

 

The earth forest is so impressive that you can’t feel it without seeing it in person.

The first part of the road to Yuanmou is easy to walk, only the latter part is a mountain road, but the road condition is still good. We arrived in Yuanmou County around noon, arranged accommodation first, took a nap at noon, and asked, the sunlight was quite strong and hot in Yuanmou Loess Forest at that time. The hotel owner said: We will arrive there around 4 pm, and it will not be so hot at this time.

The combined ticket for the Earth Forest is 150 yuan, which includes the Langbapu and Wumao Earth Forests. I set out at 6:30 in the morning, but the gate was not open yet. I paid 100 yuan to the ticket office and bought the ticket. I was the first one to go in and watch the sunrise. The early bird catches the worm, and I took a photo of the first ray of sunlight in the Earth Forest.

I woke up at 5am. The temperature in Yuanmou was much hotter than Kunming, and I was feeling anxious. Fortunately, I lived next to the bus station, so I lined up to buy tickets to the Earth Forest early in the morning. But the bus was only available at 1pm. Oh my god! Are they kidding us? ! Fortunately, I met a few older women. They saw that we were going to the Earth Forest, so they asked us to share a car. That was exactly what I wanted, haha, let's go. Everyone chatted and laughed along the way, and the one-hour journey didn't seem so long anymore. As the car went farther and farther away, the friends in the car were stunned by the magnificence of the Earth Forest~

Depart from Kunming to Chuxiong, then transfer to the bus to Yuanmou, and then to Xinhua Township. If you can't buy a bus to Xinhua Township, you can contact the scenic area accommodation, which will usually pick you up in Yuanmou. In addition to the earth forest, the museum in Yuanmou is also worth a visit, which is free.

Last year, I went to a popular tourist attraction during the Golden Week. I still remember the experience of waiting for a car, being stuck in traffic, being crowded, and having difficulty moving. This year, I had to change my route reluctantly and chose a place that I had planned to visit but had never been to - Yuanmou Earth Forest. Before I went, I booked a package ticket for Wumao and Langbapu online for 85 yuan per person. After picking up the ticket, I regretted it very much because I didn't drive myself and had to go to two attractions. The transportation was very inconvenient. Although both places were developed by the same owner, there was no direct bus.

The Yuanmou Earth Forest has formed a unique landform due to its special geography and climate. Given the current lifestyle of human beings on the earth, how long this landform can last is a big question mark. Therefore, I still suggest that you take the time to go there and take a look when you have time. Otherwise, the Earth Forest will turn into a pile of earth one day, leaving you with permanent regrets.

Although the two earth forests in Yuanmou are in the same county, they are about 50 kilometers apart from north to south. In particular, the two places are not on the same road, and you have to drive back to the county town to get there, which brings confusion to tourists who are unfamiliar with the place. The following is an introduction from the perspective of transportation, food, accommodation, and entertainment based on my limited experience, so that you can prepare for your trip in advance

Take a bus from Yuanmou Bus Station, take a bus to Wumao to Huxi, and take a bus to Langbapu to Xinhua. There are 4 or 5 buses on the schedule every day, but every bus to Huxi can go to Wumao Earth Forest Scenic Area halfway, and there is only one bus to Xinhua to Langbapu a day, and Langbapu is not halfway, but after arriving at Xinhua, it goes back to the southeast and there is another 10 kilometers of mountain road. If no one on the bus goes to Langbapu, the driver will never go there in vain.

From Yuanmou, you can take the expressway (just opened to traffic in October). See the picture for where you get off the expressway. It is 12 kilometers north to Wumao and 39 kilometers east to Langbapu.

Food and accommodation

The government sold the development and management rights of Wumao Tulin and Langbapu Tulin to a company. Wumao Tulin was developed earlier, and the food and accommodation facilities at the entrance are all owned by the same company. Tulin Hotel has standard rooms with showers, which are more expensive; the youth hostel is 30 yuan per person, with a shared bathroom, and there is a Tulin restaurant for dining, but not many people eat there, and the price is quite expensive. There is no other branch.

The conditions in Langbapu Earth Forest are even worse. There is no human habitation within a radius of ten miles from the entrance of the scenic area. If you don't bring some food and drinks with you, don't come! There is a restaurant called Pu Xuewen behind the scenic area. If you really have no choice, you can call for help at 15987244539. Of course, you have to pay.
