It is the only way to circumambulate the Meili Snow Mountain. Since ancient times, there has been only one horse and man post road leading to the outside world, which can be called a "paradise on earth".
There is no road available at present. There are two post roads to Yubeng: Xidang and Ninon. Xidang Post Road is more convenient and requires walking or riding a mule.
It is divided into upper and lower villages, about one kilometer apart. The upper village leads to the Ice Lake and Xiaonong Base Camp, while the lower village leads to the Divine Waterfall and Divine Lake.

Yubeng Village is located in Yunling Township, Deqin County, on the eastern foot of Meili Snow Mountain in Yunnan. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and has a unique geographical environment. It is 3,000 meters above sea level and is connected to the outside world only by a post road.
At present, the highway is open. There are two post roads to Yubeng, one in the direction of Xidang and the other in the direction of Ninong. The Xidang highway is more convenient. You need to walk or ride a mule or take a car, uphill for 12 kilometers, downhill for 6 kilometers, and cross the 3,700-meter pass. In addition, Yubeng Village is located at the foot of Wuzi Peak under the Niancimu Peak of Meili Snow Mountain. It has beautiful scenery and simple folk customs. It is really a paradise. Yubeng Village is divided into upper and lower villages. The upper village can lead to the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering base camp for climbing Kawagebo, while the lower village leads to the Yubeng Divine Waterfall. Along the way, you can see the wonders of ancient seal script and five trees with the same roots.
Yubeng Village has a unique geographical environment and is sparsely populated. Since ancient times, there has been only one horse and horse post road leading to the outside world. Therefore, some people say that this is the "paradise on earth" described by Tao Yuanming; domestic and foreign experts believe that this is a miniature of Shangri-La.
The only way to Yubeng is Shangri-La. This place, filled with all kinds of fantasy and glitz, now not only represents a secret place in a book, but also the nerve center for exploring the entire Yunnan-Tibet region. Countless passers-by come and go here every day. People hope to start from this "Shangri-La" and go to the "Shangri-La" full of unknowns and expectations in their hearts.
Kawagebo is the first of the eight sacred mountains in Tibet and is known as the "Mountain God". Meili Snow Mountain is its alias by accident. This is the most famous place before entering Yubeng. In addition to the spectacular wonders of the golden mountain in the sun and the strong religious atmosphere, the invincibility and famous mountain difficulties also make Kawagebo mysterious and awe-inspiring. The entire mountain range suddenly stands out from behind the cliff, conveying its beauty and majesty to the deepest part of the soul at the same time.
When the first rays of dawn illuminated the highest point of the main peak Kawagebo, the pyramid-shaped main peak began to slowly turn red from top to bottom. Kawagebo was covered with a bright red cloak like a hero, and he was as handsome and strong as the legend said. The southernmost Mentsim Peak is also the wife of the legendary main peak Kawagebo. Her shape is similar to the main peak, but she is more handsome and graceful. At this time, it was also gently lit up, and under her feet was the real destination of this trip - Yubeng.
【Yubeng Hiking】Hell for the body, heaven for the eyes❤️
Some people say that it is the paradise described by Tao Yuanming.
Some people also say that it is the place closest to God...
Entering Yubeng, everything about it is simple and sacred.

After coming back, everywhere is closer...❤️
Relax and extract the truth.
"Love what I love, do what I do
Follow my heart, no matter where I am..."
Before entering Yubeng Village, you need to go to Xidang Village first. Xidang Village is the end point of our car. We arrived at the ticket check parking lot, which is about 100 meters away from the off-road vehicle entering the village. The car can also drive directly up.
Before coming here, we had decided to take an off-road vehicle into the mountains to save time. If you have more time, you can also choose to hike. However, it should take a day to hike from Xidang to the village. There are usually four or five people in a car, and sometimes villagers will hitchhike. The four of us squeezed in the back seat. The road was very bumpy, but the four of us squeezed together to make our bodies less "jumpy".
As soon as you enter the village, you can see the graceful and elegant Myantsemo Peak, which is said to be the concubine of the mountain god Kawagebo. Next to it is the Five Crowns Peak, Jiwa Ren'an, which looks like the five Buddha crowns worn by Bodhisattvas, hence the name.
Before leaving the village, I looked back at Yubeng Village for the last time. It's a bit of an exaggeration to call it a paradise, but this small village hidden among the peaks is definitely a pure and clean paradise. Wooden houses are scattered around, with cows, sheep and mules walking leisurely; farmland, flowers and birds accompany the houses. When you open the window, you can see the towering white snow-capped mountains, and the ubiquitous prayer flags fluttering in the wind. Its calmness and tranquility permeate every blade of grass, every animal and every beast. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of the city, you can stay here for a while and watch its rain and sunshine.
Yubeng Village is ancient, simple, and peaceful. Carrying a backpack weighing more than 30 kilograms, all the fatigue brought by climbing 1,100 meters at a high altitude disappeared instantly.
This year, Yubeng is open to traffic, and hiking and riding a mule are no longer the only ways to enter the village. But if you come here by car, this is just a good place to take pictures. But if you measure it with your own feet, the feeling is completely different. Beautiful things are worth pursuing with all your strength.
If you are going to Yubeng on foot, I strongly recommend you to go in from Ninong, because there are many benefits. It is free to enter from Ninong, saving 55 yuan, because Tibetans climb the mountain from here to make pilgrimages, and we can't charge pilgrims. If we only charge Tibetans and charge others, wouldn't it be a separation between Han and Tibetans? In terms of viewing, Ninong is entered along the flowing water canyon, and the scenery is relaxed and beautiful, while if you go to Xidang, you will take the same winding dirt road with off-road vehicles, and you can only eat dirt along the way. In addition, the difficulty of climbing Ninong is definitely lower than that of climbing Xidang. Don't be fooled by the altitude markings on the map. From Ninong, you slowly climb 1,000 meters above sea level and finally reach the lower Yubeng; while from Xidang, you have to climb to the highest point, Nanzong La Pass, and then walk to the upper Yubeng in the river valley below. The altitude of the highest point halfway has reached 1,150 meters, which means that you have to cross mountains and conquer a high mountain before you can reach Xidang. In terms of time spent, I personally measured that it took 5 hours to climb the mountain from Ninong with a backpack weighing nearly 20 kilograms, while from Xidang, most online guides say it takes 6-8 hours.
But another thing to consider is luggage. If you plan to hike in, but the load is too heavy or even someone is dragging a suitcase, the formal way at this time is to check it in at the Xidang entrance, 150 yuan per piece. There are also underground transactions, that is, go to the entrance of Ninong, and a local will take you up on a motorcycle. The standard price is 100 yuan, and the price can be bargained according to the situation. This small hiking trail in Ninong is also flat, and motorcycles can indeed drive up, but in order to generate income, the scenic area prohibits private individuals from doing this kind of business, but no one cares if they open their eyes or close their eyes. In addition, private motorcycles can also take you up with people and luggage, with a reference price of 150 yuan. Entering the Ninong line, you will see signs soliciting this kind of business on the roadside from time to time, with phone numbers left on them. However, riding a motorcycle up the mountain, I felt a little thrilling when I watched from the side, and I don’t recommend doing this.
Yubeng is still worth a visit, but if it is cloudy or raining, the experience will be bad. This was the case when I went there this time. I couldn't see the snow-capped mountains at all. They were always covered by clouds and fog, and it was raining.
【Rain collapse】
Yubeng is the highest village on Meili Snow Mountain and one of the villages closest to the snow mountain.
Steps to enter Yubeng route:
1️⃣ Shangri-La - Deqin Feilai Temple bus costs 67 yuan. If you stop at Deqin Bus Station, take a taxi to Feilai Temple for about 20 yuan. Accommodation near Feilai Temple
2️⃣ There is a shuttle bus from Feilai Temple to Xidang Village at around 8:20 in the morning, which costs 20 yuan per person. A shared taxi is also 20 yuan per person. If you can't share a seat, you will have to pay more per person. A chartered car costs 120-150 yuan.
3️⃣ Xidang Village has options:
📌It takes 6-8 hours to walk to Yubeng, 12 kilometers uphill and 6 kilometers downhill, and the mountain road is rugged and you have to climb uphill. People with good physical strength can try it.
📌There are special vehicles for the scenic area, all of which are off-road vehicles, because other cars can't go at all, and private cars are not allowed to enter.
Scenic area off-road vehicle price:
🎫To Nanzong Yakou 150 (the 12km uphill mentioned above), you still have to walk 6km downhill.
🎫200 to Shangyubeng Village, most people choose this. 🎫260 to Xiayubeng Village, this is not necessary, Shangyubeng to Xiayubeng is 1.5 kilometers, 20 minutes walk. It takes 40 minutes to get from Xiayubeng to Shangyubeng.
Yubeng Village is a paradise on earth. Anyone who enters Yubeng Village is a hero. Because in this place, you can only walk around the surrounding scenic spots with your own two legs. Yubeng Village is a place where scenery and religion are intertwined. You may feel that the scenery is not as good as you imagined, but the religious significance contained in these places will strongly shock you.
There are many inns in Shangcun, and more and more inns are going wrong. There are many renovation sites. The basic single room is 150-180, with 24-hour hot water. Each has its own restaurant. Wahaha mineral water is 5 yuan, beverages are 10 yuan, and a large bottle of Wahaha is 15. The hot pot is not delicious, but the stir-fry is ok. In fact, none of them are as delicious as the Meili specialty hot pot in Feilai Temple, haha, 168 group purchase. It is recommended to walk from Xidang Village to Shangyubeng, stay, go to Binghu on the second day, come back at night and continue to stay in Shangyubeng, check out after breakfast on the third day to Xiayubeng, check in, and then go to Shenpu, come back and sleep overnight, and walk out of Ni Nong on the fourth morning. Now, Xidang has jeeps in and out of Yubeng, 200 one-way, and horse riding has been cancelled. Yubeng to Binghu and Shenpu both have horse riding, but there will be a section that needs to be walked. Shenhu has not been tried. I saw the photos of others who went there. There was a lot of snow on the road, the lake was also very small, and there was snow all around. Some people can also go to Xiayubeng after returning from Binghu, then Shenpu in the morning and go out of Ni Nong in the afternoon, which is a bit rushed.
A paradise on earth at the foot of Meili Snow Mountain. This May Day, I entered Yubeng from Xidang and saw the ice lake. I didn’t go to the sacred waterfall. I exited Yubeng from the Ni Nong Grand Canyon. It was a great experience.
Yubeng is a mysterious Tibetan ancient village hidden deep in the Meili Snow Mountain. In the past, it could only be accessed on foot or by horse or mule. Now roads have been opened, but they are all winding mountain roads and are quite dangerous. There are scenic spots such as the sacred waterfall, glacial lake, and sacred lake. It is known as the "paradise on earth", "hikers' paradise", and "the last secret place in Yunnan".
The pilgrimage requires piety.
Ice Lake (recommended to go in April after the Chinese New Year)
Shenpu (a place of pilgrimage for local Tibetans, with a temple of Guru Padmasambhava on the way)
Shenhu Lake (the scenery is not the purpose, the main thing is that there is a strange upside-down Guanyin Bodhisattva on it)
In addition to hiking, we had plenty of time to rest and take photos, stroll around the village, drink coffee, drink chicken soup, and make dumplings. No wonder the owner of the hotel has been recruiting volunteers for a long time. Volunteers often come here, stay for a while, and participate in voluntary labor in the restaurant.
The paths in the village are complicated, with several paths at different levels in the same direction, making it impossible to use navigation.
When you get close to Yubeng Village, you will check your tickets and Yubeng Village will be right in front of you. It really looks like a paradise, away from the world. The store in Shangcun is really the store in the village of my childhood. I remember that the store in the village of my hometown when I was a child looked the same. My childhood memories appeared in Yubeng Village.
Yubeng, a place I will never forget.
I was originally a tourist, but was attracted by the beautiful scenery here, so I stayed here for half a month to volunteer. It was also my first time at the Hiker's Home Inn.
Entering the Rainfall:
It is recommended to stay one night in Feilai Temple (Watching 6740 Inn, facing the 13 peaks of Meili Snow Mountain, it is great to watch the sunrise on Jinshan Mountain)
Feilai Temple→Xidang:
Share a car to Xidang early in the morning, 150 yuan/6 people/car.
After passing the ticket office, the ticket is 85 yuan/person + 5 yuan sanitation fee, which can be used as a voucher at the inn, valid only on the day!
Xidang → Yubeng:
1. Take a bus. The bus has just been opened, 200 yuan per person.
2. Hiking. Generally 4-10 hours. It took me 4 hours to get to Yubeng Village (2 hours uphill, 1 hour downhill, and 1 hour rest at the pass)
Reminder: If the hike takes more than 8 hours, it will take an estimated 16 hours to reach Shenhu Lake. You cannot return in one day and the road is dangerous at night, so it is recommended to give up.
Upper rain collapse → Lower rain collapse:
It's downhill going down, but coming up is a slope of despair, which takes half an hour to walk.
Go to the sacred waterfall and ice lake:
The Divine Waterfall and Ice Lake are regular scenic spots in the scenic area. There are green trash cans along the way, so you generally won’t get lost unless you do something stupid.
You can go back and forth on the same day. You can also ride a mule.
Go down to Yubeng from Shenpu Waterfall, and turn right after passing the White Pagoda. It is uphill all the way, and the round trip takes 5-8 hours.
There are many muddy roads on the way up from the Ice Lake. After crossing the pass, you will reach the Xiaonong Base Camp after going down the mountain. Then you can climb the mountain for another 1-2 hours to reach the Ice Lake. The round trip takes 5-10 hours.
Reminder: If you come from Xidang, it is recommended to go to the Ice Lake first and then to the Shenpu Waterfall.
It takes less time to visit the Shen Waterfall, so you can go there in the morning and walk to Ni Nong to get out of Yubeng in the afternoon.
Go to Shenhu Lake:
Shenhu Lake is 4400 meters above sea level. It is not a formal scenic spot, and the risk factor is high. The scenic area insurance is not included. Climb all the way up the mountain, and the top of the mountain is 4700 meters above sea level.
The innkeeper always requires a guide to lead the way. Considering that it would be very troublesome if something goes wrong, I understand.
When I visited Shenhu Lake, it was a nice day with the sun shining on the mountain and clear skies before I set off. But when I got to the mountain, it started snowing, and it was windy and foggy.
The round trip takes 9-12 hours, which requires a lot of physical strength.
It took me 8 hours to go back and forth (4 hours to climb the mountain, 1.5 hours to rest by the lake, and 2.5 hours to go down the mountain). The guide was left behind by 1 hour. Hehe, enough to brag about 😁
Walk down to Yubeng, turn left when you see the White Pagoda (turn right to go to the Shenpu Waterfall), cross a bridge, on the left is the road to Ninon, and on the right is a sign prohibiting entry, so just walk up to the right.
Rainfall:
1. From Yubeng to Xidang, you can take a bus or walk. Please consult the innkeeper for the bus time.
2. Yubeng → Ninon, a gentle downhill all the way, and can only be walked, about 3-6 hours. The canyon scenery is better than the Xidang line.
There are vans at the entrance of Ni Nong Village, and you can share a car to Feilai Temple for 180 yuan/car, and to Deqin County for 150 yuan/car.
Most people choose to enter from Xidang and exit from Ninong, making a loop without going back.

I read the guide to Yubeng before, and everyone said that it takes about 8 hours to hike to Yubeng. You can only walk or rent a mule (350 yuan). But but. Since the beginning of 2018, several off-road vehicles have been bought here. It takes 200 yuan/person to take tourists into the village to the upper Yubeng and 250 yuan/person to the lower Yubeng. There are staff at the entrance to Yubeng Village. You can buy tickets for the off-road vehicles here. They get off work at 6 o'clock. It is recommended that you take a car into the village and save your energy for hiking the Ice Lake Waterfall. There is not much scenery to see along the way to Yubeng Village.
Talking about accommodation, it is best to stay in Shangyubeng Village on the first day. Shangyubeng goes to the Ice Lake, and Xiayubeng goes to the Shen Waterfall. It takes about 40 to 60 minutes to walk from Shangyubeng to Xiayubeng. On the day you plan to go to the Shen Waterfall, you should stay in Xiayubeng Village. (The accommodation conditions in Shangyubeng Village are better than those in Xiayubeng Village. There is no hot water here, and there is a power outage. After the power outage, the mobile phone here has no signal, and the wifi cannot be used~)
Let's talk about eating: snacks here are very expensive and there are few choices. After all, everything is brought in by mules, so try to bring some food with you. Apples are 5 yuan each, and mineral water is 5 yuan a bottle. Breakfast is 20 or 25 yuan, and stir-fried dishes are not expensive, the price is normal. Eating in Xia Yubeng is cheaper than in Shang Yubeng.
But here, the breeze brings the scent of the fields and the fragrance of petals, the white clouds spread to the snow-capped mountains in the distance and gradually turn into beautiful arcs, the golden sunlight at sunrise is gorgeous and dizzying, and the tranquility brought by the arrival of night is addictive.
We saw the Rizhao Golden Mountain as soon as we got up in the morning. (You can see two snow-capped mountains - the Rizhao Golden Mountain of Shenhu and Binghu from Shangyubeng Village, but only the snow-capped mountain of Shenhu from Xiayubeng.) You must be there around 7 o'clock to see it. Yubeng has many rainy seasons and the weather is ever-changing. It takes luck to see the Rizhao Golden Mountain.
At that time, I didn’t know about the existence of Yubeng Village until I arrived at Meili Snow Mountain. Later, it became one of my favorite places during my more than 80 days away from home.
PS: The chartered car from Feilai Temple to Yubeng Village costs 20 yuan per person, and the ticket to Yubeng Village costs 80 yuan per person. The food in Yubeng Village is not as expensive as you might think, so you don’t need to bring a lot of food. You need to hike for a long time almost every day in Yubeng Village, so it is recommended to bring food to replenish energy. In the line from Kunming to Meili Snow Mountain, it is actually a good choice to take a car from Kunming all the way to Yubeng Village.
Recommended route: Enter Yubeng from Xidang, stay in Shangyubeng that night, and hike to Binghu the next day; after returning from Binghu, stay in Xiayubeng on the same day, go to Shenpu the next day, and return at noon on the same day. After lunch in Xiayubeng, you can take the nylon line back.
As you walk uphill into the village, you'll see mule teams appearing by your side from time to time. Along the way, you'll meet strangers who share food with each other, mules who ask you for food, and strangers who cheer each other on. Everything becomes as simple as walking.
Three days and two nights in Yubeng Village
The view is special
Greenery
If I could grow old like this
See snow-capped mountains, bask in the sun, and smell the flowers
What a wonderful thing it is, time stands still here!
It's worth the 10km hike. Even those with poor physical strength can take a car in.
Yubeng Introduction Yubeng Village is located in the Meili Snow Mountain Nature Reserve in Yunling Township, Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is sparsely populated and has inconvenient transportation. It is only connected to the outside world by a muddy post road. It is precisely because of this isolated geographical location that Yubeng Village has created a paradise-like beauty and pristine local customs. Yubeng Village is divided into Yubeng Upper Village and Yubeng Lower Village. The two villages are less than 1 kilometer apart but take half an hour to walk. Yubeng Upper Village leads to Xiaonong Base Camp and Ice Lake Scenic Spot, and Yubeng Lower Village leads to Shen Waterfall and Shenhu Scenic Spot.
Looking at Xiyubeng from afar, there are golden wheat or barley, pink unknown flowers, dotted houses, primitive dense forests, and snow-capped mountains.
If you like to get close to nature, you must not miss Yubeng. It is really beautiful here. It is a beauty that you can see with your eyes and remember with your heart. Maybe in two years, if it is more mature, many things will change, but before it is fully developed, I have been here and I am very happy. I also met friends who also like mountaineering and hiking, which is very satisfying. I hope I can see the Golden Mountain in the Rizhao next time I come.
Suddenly I discovered Yubeng and was amazed by the photos of the icy lake. It was so beautiful. The forest, the sacred mountain, the small village... everything was what I liked.
I started to learn about Yubeng. Various guides online said that Yubeng might have power outages, water outages, and no signal at night (it is true that there will be no signal on the way, but it will be gone when you reach Yubeng Village. I did not experience a power outage)
Then it was said that the hike would take 3 days. Thinking about my "excellent" body (actually, I was worried that I would meet people who were going to Yubeng with me, what if I couldn't keep up with their pace!! What if I got altitude sickness!! I had the altitude sickness experience in Seda before, so I was still a little worried, afraid of being left behind by my companions), and I was a girl, so it would be terrible to fall behind in Yubeng. But the beauty of the glacial lake still made me decide to go.
Which place has left the deepest impression on you during these days?
The answer is definitely Yubeng. I will never forget the three days in Yubeng during my trip or in my life. 72 hours, 24 hours of hiking, more than 50 kilometers. I gave up, collapsed, and despaired, but more of it was shock, touching, and grateful. Three days to measure the earth with my feet, three days to feel the beauty with my eyes, and three days to be pious to its beauty with my heart.
I opened the window and saw that the outside was really beautiful. It was the Yubeng Village I imagined, with smoke, chickens and birds chirping. It was so quiet and beautiful, just like a dream. It was so beautiful that I felt like I was going to heaven.
Yubeng Village really gave me a lot of surprises. Going to Yubeng Village was a complete accident, so I didn't prepare anything. I went there wearing a pair of military rubber shoes. We entered from Xidan. At first, we were having fun taking selfies. After walking uphill for a while, we began to pant heavily, so we looked for tools. First, we found a wooden stick for support. Later, we saw some people going out of Yubeng. We thought of buying trekking poles from them. We met a kind traveler who gave us two trekking poles. We met another older sister and bought another walking stick. This solved a big problem. It's mostly uphill from Xidan to Yubeng Village, and it feels like crossing mountains and ridges. But the road is really beautiful, with colorful prayer flags, clear blue sky, white clouds, and traveler friends who catch up from time to time. Yubeng Village is like an outdoor paradise, standing alone, and you can only see it after crossing mountains and ridges.
Since this village is located at the foot of Cimu Peak of Meili Snow Mountain and transportation is extremely inconvenient, you can only rent a car to the ticket office of the scenic area, and the rest depends on hiking or riding a mule.
This village has basically maintained its original appearance, but it is not isolated from the outside world. The local Tibetans speak Chinese very well. I traveled alone, but it is safer to hike with a companion.
It was rainy all the way. As the altitude got higher, the rain turned into heavy snow. We had to cross the Nanzong Pass, which was about 3,800 meters high, before we could go downhill. It took more than 20 kilometers to enter Yubeng Village. This was a challenge to our physical fitness and perseverance, not to mention the bad weather! But we persevered! The mountains along the way were full of alpine rhododendrons and tall towering trees. Entering the village was like entering a paradise on earth. The golden-topped temples and quaint houses were embedded in the green mountains and grasslands. The pink and not charming peach blossoms really made it possible to call it "If you don't go to heaven, come to Yubeng." Tomorrow we will go hiking at Shenhu Lake. I heard that the scenery along the way will make you cry.
Tips: 1. Be sure to prepare a raincoat when entering Yubeng, as the weather in the mountains is unpredictable.
2 Try to travel light and don’t bring too many things. Although the items in the village are expensive, you can weigh the hardship of hiking against the money yourself.
3 You can choose your accommodation online. There are not many inns in the village now, and the prices fluctuate with the season.
4 Although food and other items are expensive, you won't mind it after you have experienced the hardship of entering the village. The price of mules will also fluctuate with the season. Currently, it is around 300 in the off-season. The mule owner will charge extra fees based on your luggage and weight. Because mules are very thin and local feed is not sufficient, Tibetans still care about mules. (Note: No matter how much the fat man offers, the Tibetans will not let him ride.)
There is a ticket checking point on the roadside at the entrance to the village. A management fee of 5 yuan is charged per person. The 5 yuan can be deducted from your first night's stay at an inn in the village. Don't lose your receipt.
Yubeng, a magical and beautiful place, walking in it feels like a dream.
For us, Yubeng is a paradise for domestic hikers.
Walking in Yubeng was the first real hiking in my life. I remember posting a message on WeChat Moments after the walk: It was a hard journey, beautiful scenery, and I felt stronger. You can imagine how tired I was and how beautiful it was.
Our route at that time was to enter Ninong from Adam. It took us a whole day to actually enter the village. We stayed in the village for two nights and visited the Ice Lake and the God Waterfall respectively.
Yubeng is 80, Feilaisi is 150, but the annoying thing is that Yubeng cannot be bought separately, so you have to buy it for 230. It will be cheaper if you buy it online.
There is a large basket of bamboo poles at the entrance, which are free to take, which is good news for people like me who don’t even buy trekking poles. The initial altitude is 2,600 meters, and the 6-7 kilometers are all uphill. It takes 3-4 hours to climb to the 3,700-meter pass.
The road from Xidang to Yubeng is a very wide dirt road with obvious ruts. There is a gate at the entrance to prevent outside vehicles from entering, but Yubeng’s own cars can enter and exit in the morning and evening. On the hiking trail, you can see villagers driving motorcycles. To get rich, you must first build roads. Without this road, life inside would be too hard. On the road, I met an aunt riding a mule in, but we felt that there was really no point in hiking.
We turned countless corners along the way. Every time we turned a corner, we were looking forward to reaching the top of the mountain, but there was still an endless uphill climb ahead. When we reached an altitude of more than 3,000 meters, snow appeared and the dirt road gradually turned into an ice and snow road, further slowing down our climbing speed.
It is indeed a paradise on earth. I believe that before tourists came, only local pilgrims knew about such a paradise. All materials in Yubeng need to be transported from the bottom of the mountain by manpower or mules, so they are twice as expensive as those outside.
From Xidang, we hiked 8 kilometers uphill to the pass, and 4 kilometers downhill from the pass to Shangyubeng Village. Then we went 0.5 kilometers to Xiayubeng Village, and went out to walk the Ninon route for 18 kilometers (8 kilometers downhill, you can ride a mule, and the remaining 10 kilometers are along the Ninon waterway, 3 kilometers of mountain roads, and 7 kilometers along the mountain road. The width of the flat road is about 0.8 meters, so it is not dangerous to walk along the mountain). The GPS prepared the best data. We were honored to see the complete Rizhao Jinshan in the village. Three words. Beautiful!
Yubeng is one of the classic hiking routes. Yubeng Village is divided into two villages, the upper and lower villages, which are quite far apart. It was snowing at the time. In order to hike to the Shenpu Waterfall, we walked in the dark with flashlights for almost an hour before reaching the Shenpu Inn in Yubeng Lower Village. Yubeng on a snowy night was much brighter at almost eight o'clock. Winter and summer are different in beauty, but both are beautiful. After all, it is a village, and the conditions are naturally not as good as those in the city. In recent years, electricity and wireless have been connected, which is relatively good, but the prices of some things are very expensive. For example, at the Shenpu Inn, a disposable raincoat costs about 30 to 50 yuan. Of course, you can accept this price a little as long as you think about the inconvenience of transportation in the village. So remember to bring your own when you go hiking. It is probably not very smooth to take a beautiful hot bath, so it is said that hiking to Yubeng is a slight self-torture journey, which is quite unforgettable.
A paradise that can only be reached on foot, everything is in its most original state
The most famous thing about Yubeng Village is hiking. It is called a paradise for hikers, but this is a bit exaggerated. The scenery of Yubeng is beautiful, and you can see many attractions of Meili Snow Mountain. The road is not too difficult to walk on, and the hiking is not difficult.
If you don't go to heaven, go to Yubeng. Your eyes are in heaven and your feet are in hell. Whether you enter Yubeng from Xidang or Ninong, you will face more than ten kilometers of hiking up and down the mountain. I'm going to poison you 💊
A magical and beautiful place, walking through it makes people feel like they are in a paradise. Yubeng Village is located on the eastern foot of Meili Snow Mountain. Yubeng Village is surrounded by mountains on all sides. Due to its unique geographical environment, it is sparsely populated. There are only about 20 households in the village. There are two post roads in the direction of Xidang and Ni Nong, and the Xidang post road is more convenient. Yubeng Village is divided into upper and lower villages. The upper village leads to the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering base camp for climbing Kawagebo, while the lower village leads to the Yubeng Divine Waterfall. Along the way, you can see the wonders of ancient seal script and five trees with the same root.
From July 13th to 16th, I will depart from Lijiang. Yucun girl is looking for teammates WeChat 15578272264. Come and contact me
This should be the real paradise, with heaven above and raindrops below
Yubeng is the purest and most natural village I have ever visited. It is the place I want to stay the most. I live in Zhongyubeng Village, enjoy the scenery of the snow-capped mountains and listen to the sound of the Yubeng River. I go to Shenpu one day and Shenhu Base Camp the next day. I drink beer and enjoy the scenery of the snow-capped mountains, and chat with locals or travellers. Perhaps there is no place purer than this.
If you have the strength and endurance, you should definitely try Yubeng. The process will bring you more surprises than you think!
At about 2:40 in the afternoon, we saw from afar the paradise lying quietly in the snow-capped mountains, Yubeng Village. After the snow on the mountains melted into water, a white line was drawn in the valleys of varying depths, passing along the edge of the village, merging into the tributaries of the Lancang River, and then into the river. The village is located on the impact fan, and the fields on it can be seen from afar, benefiting from this fertile soil. This is the vibrant nature. Our extremely inflated curiosity led us to this snowy forest. With the help of our bodies, we felt every plant and tree here, and returned to our spirits, satisfying our curiosity and adventurous nature. This process produced a kind of understanding that cannot be expressed in words. Nature never speaks, just let you feel it quietly. Yang Guo had his right arm chopped off by the eldest lady of the Guo family, fell off the cliff, and was later rescued by the eagle. He discovered the adventure of the peerless martial arts in the mysterious cave. If he was unwilling, he might not have discovered such a mysterious world. Only Jin Yong knows. The body that you should suffer, the pressure that you should bear, the happiness that you will get, and the growth that you may get are still waiting for you to dig and experience in a corner. When you look at the whole village from a high place during the descent, you will suddenly feel a sense of happiness living in such a place. Of course, it is because of the visual impact brought by its environment, at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, lush forests, a few low houses, a few donkey-traveled paths in the countryside, fresh air, quiet, no noise, and integration.
Tips: 1. To get to Yubeng Village from all over the country, you need to go to Shangri-La first, then transfer to Feilai Temple in Deqin County, and then charter a car from Feilai Temple to Xidang to start hiking into Yubeng Village. If you have time, you can choose to go by bus. The best option is to charter a car. The price is not much different from the bus, which can save the trouble of changing buses many times. Going directly to the scenic spot not only saves time, but also saves a lot of physical strength for hiking in Yubeng.
We strolled around Yubeng Village while my companions hiked to the sacred waterfall; I wandered around by myself for a day and rested. I was fascinated by the beautiful Yubeng Village.
We arrived at Shangyubeng Village at 4:45, which took 6 and a half hours. Some of the donkeys were faster than us, as if they didn't need to rest. We stayed at the Hiker's Home Inn in Shangyubeng Village. We took a short break in the room, and the eight of us had a rich feast. We were probably too hungry, so we thought everything was delicious and ate it all in one go. At night, when the temperature was close to below zero degrees Celsius, a few of us photography enthusiasts went out to take pictures of the Milky Way. The first golden light of Meili Snow Mountain in front of the Feilai Temple Observation Deck The first golden light of Meili Snow Mountain in the sun The start of the hike to Shangyubeng The Shangyubeng Village seen from a high place The hearty dinner The starry sky of Meili Snow Mountain in Shangyubeng Village This morning, everyone still climbed up to the balcony of the inn before 7:20 to witness the golden mountain in the sun in Shangyubeng. This morning was even better than yesterday, with a clear sky and the Niancimu Peak of Meili Snow Mountain illuminated in golden light.
When I woke up in the morning, I saw the green village and the white-capped mountains. It was a peaceful and tranquil scene. If I had time, I would stay there for a week, because it was too difficult to get into Yubeng. It took 20 kilometers of hiking and 12 kilometers of uphill climbing. I really couldn't afford it. In my opinion, Yubeng Village must be visited once, but only once.
The legendary paradise, under the protection of the sacred Meili Snow Mountain, is extremely natural, peaceful and simple, a place where you can forget your worries and calm your mind. Awesome!
Yubeng Village is located in Yunling Township, Deqin County, at the eastern foot of Meili Snow Mountain in Yunnan Province. Surrounded by mountains on all sides, it has a unique geographical environment. As there is no road access, there are two post roads to Yubeng: the Xidang Road and the Ni Nong Road. The Xidang Post Road is more convenient [1]. It requires walking or riding a mule, 12 kilometers uphill and 6 kilometers downhill, and crossing a 3,700-meter pass. In addition, Yubeng Village is located at the foot of Wuzi Peak under the Niancimu Peak of Meili Snow Mountain. It has beautiful scenery and simple folk customs. It is truly a paradise. Yubeng Village is divided into the upper and lower villages. The upper village leads to the Sino-Japanese joint mountaineering base camp for climbing Kawagebo, while the lower village leads to the Yubeng Divine Waterfall. Along the way, you can see the wonders of ancient seal script and five trees with the same roots.
Strange folk customs
Due to long-term isolation from the outside world, Yubeng Village still retains many simple Tibetan folk customs. Among them, the most bizarre to the outside world is the phenomenon that brothers only marry one wife and do not separate the family. Hikers have encountered many such examples in Yubeng Village, and later they finally understood what was going on. It turns out that the people of Yubeng Village advocate that there should be only one mistress in a family. After the elder brother marries his sister-in-law and returns home, as long as the brothers do not separate the family, the younger brother can also treat his sister-in-law as his wife, and the family will live like this forever.
However, once this happens, a "realistic" problem arises. If a family of brothers has only one wife, whose children are they? According to the results of the inquiry by travel friends, many families will solve it like this: the elder brother is at home one year, and the younger brother goes out to work. The younger brother comes back the next year, and the elder brother goes out. In this way, it is easy to figure out. However, even if they are not the biological fathers, the children will call their brothers "Dad", regardless of closeness, and live in harmony.
The best time to travel to Yubeng is in autumn and winter, when Yubeng is colorful and looks like a dreamlike fairy tale world. The sky is high and the air is fresh, which is very suitable for visiting Yubeng. To travel to Yubeng, people usually start from Lijiang or Shangri-La. No matter where they start, the basic routes are similar.
Ticket price: 230 yuan (including 150 yuan for Feilai Temple Observation Deck)
Famous attractions: Yubeng Waterfall, Yubeng Ice Lake, and Ninon Canyon
Recommended duration: 2-3 days
Best season for travel: Spring and autumn
The small village of Utopia is very quiet and the transportation is very inconvenient, but there are too many tourists in recent years.
Yubeng is a must-visit place for beginner hikers. There is sufficient accommodation, so you don't have to worry about carrying tents, sleeping bags and food. If you come to Yubeng for the first time, the hiking time is about 4-5 days. As a hiker, you can actually walk the entire route in 2.5 to 3 days at the fastest, but why bother? If it's your first time, just treat it as a game and enjoy the scenery slowly. The time must be as described in the China-TravelNote guide, late October is the best time, so you can see the Meili Snow Mountain and it won't be too cold. The weather is mainly sunny, and you only need to wear fleece and a jacket. You don't necessarily need a guide to enter Yubeng. There are many tourists who go to Yubeng on their own, but it's best for single women to go with a companion, after all, there are few people on the road, and you need to guard against impromptu crimes. The beautiful scenery of Yubeng makes people intoxicated. The sacredness of Meili makes even non-Buddhists unable to help but put their hands together and bathe in the sacred waterfall. If the weather is fine, the Ninon Canyon route is worth taking, and it is also recommended to have a companion, after all, there are dangerous factors in the canyon route alone. The standard bathroom in the village has a water heater, but my companions and I all had rashes to varying degrees after staying there. There are many choices of food in the village when you are with your companions, but egg fried rice and instant noodles are easy to make people feel sick during the hike. You can pack egg steamed buns and pickles for breakfast and eat them appropriately during the hike.
D1 Entering the village: The road is slowly uphill and downhill, about 20km, the altitude sickness is not serious, a few friends have headaches, prepare mild painkillers such as Sanlitongfenbid. Fried rice and instant noodles are available on the way. It takes 4-5 hours to enter the village at a fast speed, and 6-7 hours to enter the village slowly. Before dusk, see the beautiful scenery of the upper and lower rain and sunshine.
D2: Ice Lake. It takes 1 day to visit. The scenery along the way is so beautiful. You can cross the primeval forest, feed squirrels, see Meili Side Peak, take photos on the grassland at the base camp, and rest at the ice lake. The food supply is the same as before. Fried rice is often difficult to swallow on this day, so you can bring your own food. Fast hikers may return at 14-16, but first-time hikers are advised to take their time and return from the ice lake at 14:30. It will be very cold if the wind blows too late. If you arrive too late, there are wooden huts at the base camp for accommodation.
D3: Shen Waterfall. Some arrangements may be half a day at Shen Waterfall and half a day out of Ni Nong Village, but it is still recommended to reserve one day for Shen Waterfall. On the way to Shen Waterfall, you can meet many Tibetans who are turning inward. A Tibetan passing by under Shen Waterfall pointed out: go around 3 times and then bathe in Shen Waterfall. Enter Shen Waterfall twice, collect the water melted by the glacier, the upper body is wet, the hair is all wet, the Tibetan brother gave a thumbs up, that's it! It is really cool, but the clothes should be dried quickly, so that they can be half dried in the sun for more than ten minutes.
D4: Ni Nong Canyon. The scenery along the way is so beautiful, and the Yubeng River is really beautiful. It is suitable for sunny days. After all, we can still see small stones sliding when crossing on a sunny day, but the safety factor is still guaranteed, it must be a sunny day. There are several landslides in the middle of the road, about 30cm on the road. The normal road is about 1.5m. Walk without seeing the scenery, and see the scenery without walking. It takes 4-5 hours to reach Ni Nong Village. There are vans at the bottom of the village to share a car to Feilai Temple Deqin.
It is quite difficult to enter Yubeng Village. It takes 5-6 hours of hiking or riding a mule to get in. It is because of the inconvenient transportation that such beautiful scenery has been preserved more completely!
The eyes are in heaven, the body is in hell... The trip to Yubeng brought us beautiful scenery and friendship. People from all over the country gathered in Lijiang, laughing and talking along the way to see the beautiful scenery, taste the local delicacies, and take care of each other throughout the journey without catching snails. Hiking in Yubeng is indeed a rare experience in life...
I have been using China-TravelNote for two or three years. This is my first review! Now you don't need a pass. If you only want to go to Yubeng, you can buy a separate ticket! It is said that since August this year, a group of hikers are dissatisfied with the high price of the pass and are fighting for their rights! Yubeng is beautiful. The round trip of Shenpu Waterfall is 14km and the Ice Lake is 16km. The round trip of Shenhu is 40km, which is too far. I didn't go this time. I will go again next time if I have the chance! Coming out of Ni Nong, it's all the way downhill. The scenery beside the alpine canyon is beautiful!
Yubeng is described as a paradise for the eyes and a hell for the body. You have to rely on one leg to get in and out of Yubeng Village. It is inconvenient to transport supplies inside, so there will definitely not be very complete facilities. Food, accommodation and transportation are basically guaranteed. The reason why it is worth going is that it is really primitive and great.
If you don’t go to heaven, go to Yubeng.

Yubeng Village is so beautiful! Although it is tiring to enter the village, it is worth it after arriving! Especially at night, you must look up at the starry sky! It will definitely be unforgettable!
It's very beautiful, and it feels like a fairyland. When you look up, you can see snow-capped mountains, surrounded by forests, and there is a small lake in the middle...
I will come to this city again, wait for me.
This is a quiet village like a paradise. You will regret it if you don’t visit it.
It is really beautiful when you get there, and it is worth the effort to climb up.
Yubeng is a small Tibetan village on the eastern foot of Meili Snow Mountain, located at the foot of Mencimu Peak and Wuzi Peak. It is widely said in the hiking community that "if you don't go to heaven, go to Yubeng". Yubeng is closed to traffic and has no roads. There are two entrances, Xidang and Ninong. Xidang is safer but requires an 18-kilometer hike, of which 12 kilometers are completely uphill to cross the Nanzheng Pass at an altitude of 3,771 meters. After crossing the pass, it is a 6-kilometer complete downhill hike to finally reach Upper Yubeng. The scenery of Ninong Canyon is spectacular, but there is a section of cliff road that is more dangerous. It is best to cross it before 3 or 4 pm. After that, it will be windy. Don't try it on rainy days. We plan to enter and exit Ninong from Xidang. Keep the equipment as simple as possible, bring trekking poles or pick up branches. You will know the importance of this when you climb the slope. Knee pads are also very important, otherwise be careful that your knees will be useless in the next few days. Don't wear a lot, it will be very hot when climbing. Take a group photo before entering, that was when we looked the most like human beings in those days. The first section of the road is very steep. You may not be able to stand it at the beginning. You can't breathe. Slowly move up. There is no flat land or downhill. It is a completely endless uphill. You can't breathe after walking a few steps. When you sit down for a while, you will calm down. After walking a few steps, you start to breathe again. It may be because of the plateau. It is easy to breathe. Someone asked along the way whether it is easier to go uphill or downhill. The answer is that the heart can't stand the uphill, and the knees can't stand the downhill. In summary, the flat land is the best, or maybe it is the best to not move! The road in Xidang is relatively boring. There is a shortcut, but it is relatively steep. I guess it should be the guide. There are three rest stops at the pass. You can get some water and instant noodles for some supplies. People who meet down the mountain along the way will cheer us up enthusiastically and tell us that it is not far away, hold on! When we arrived at Nanzheng Pass and looked at the snow-capped mountains in the distance, we deeply realized the saying "the body is in hell, the eyes are in heaven". The snow-capped mountains are close at hand. After the pass, it is a 6-kilometer downhill. A pair of non-slip hiking shoes is very important, especially when going downhill, otherwise you may fall if you are not careful. There is a viewing platform on the downhill road, where you can see the panoramic view of Yubeng Village, full of greenery. This small village hidden under the snow-capped mountains seems to have a little understanding of the artistic conception of "Xiaoyuan on Earth" described by Tao Yuanming.
The conditions in Yubeng Village have improved greatly compared to previous years. Hot water is available 24 hours a day, and there is WiFi, although the mobile phone signal is still not very good. There are also many inns in Yubeng Village. If you go there during the off-peak season, you don’t need to book in advance. There are many choices and the conditions are good.
The rich live in good houses, the poor live in dormitories. Everyone has their own preferences. Yubeng Village is not as backward as it was two years ago. Many foreign merchants run inns there, with complete facilities.
The scenery is okay, but it's not as outdoor paradise as I imagined. It's tiring to walk up the mountain, so I chose to ride a donkey. The locals were unreasonable and marked the price as 235 to the top of the mountain and 305 to Yubeng. I chose to ride to the top of the mountain and bargained for 200. The guy agreed, but he didn't want to drop me off at the second rest stop. When it came time to check out, he refused to admit that he agreed to 200 and insisted on paying the original price. It was a rip-off, so my good mood was ruined along the way.
If you have the chance, you must go there once. It’s so worth it to cross the mountains and rivers!
There are many complete facilities in Yubeng Village, including route signs, accommodation, food and transportation.
It is a paradise on earth. Although it is hard to hike in, the moment you stand on the observation deck and see Yubeng Village, you feel that all the hard work is worth it.
Heaven is on the left, and Yubeng is on the right. As a hiking spot that can only be entered by mules and a pair of feet, the scenery in front of you will definitely not disappoint you.
This is the most amazing trip I have ever taken. As someone who pursues a comfortable trip, I don’t know when I will do it again.

It is a paradise on earth. You have to climb a mountain to reach it. It is very simple. There are only a few families in the village. There are often power outages. At night, we play games, chat and look at the stars around the fire. Suddenly, I don't want to leave.
Here, China Mobile can't move, China Unicom can't connect. What is WiFi? Just lie on the windowsill and count the stars.

The scenery is very beautiful, peaceful and tranquil, and the folk customs are simple
My route was to go straight to Xiayubeng Village from Xidang on the first day, and then go back and forth from Xiayubeng Village to Shenpu on the second day, then return to Xidang, and then take a bus back to Feilai Temple. I walked 15.5 kilometers on the first day and 30 kilometers on the second day. I didn't feel any altitude sickness, but I felt obviously very tired on the second day. It is not recommended to go back and forth to Shenpu on the first day. If you arrive in the evening, the light may not be good, and the road back at night is a bit slippery.
We said goodbye to Yubeng Village. As it was noon, the journey back to the upper village was extremely long and difficult. The sun was scorching on our bodies and it was all uphill, so we had to walk and stop from time to time. It took almost an hour.
Yubeng Village is so beautiful that it is beyond description. As for accommodation, it is still a problem that needs to be solved since it is in a mountainous area. There is almost no signal in Yubeng Village.
This beautiful, isolated mountain village is worth visiting again!
I recommend this place because it is the legendary "eyes in heaven and body in hell". After 12 kilometers of experience, you will feel like you have been reborn. The scenery is amazing. The sacred waterfall, ice lake and sacred lake are all the most beautiful places.
Everything tastes good in this village, probably because of the lack of supplies. A simple bowl of tomato noodles costs more than 20 yuan in the morning. It's expensive but delicious. The matsutake chicken hotpot we had at the inn at night was really delicious. The villagers are honest. If you don't finish it at once, you can save it until the next day and add some other dishes to make another hotpot. Unpolluted food tastes different. It's not a psychological effect, it's really delicious.

Therefore, some people say that this is the "paradise" written by Tao Yuanming; Due to the abundant rainfall and special geographical environment and climatic conditions, the ecological growth of plants in Yubeng Village is dense and strange. Many other plants can often be seen parasitizing on the trunks of some old trees. This peculiar phenomenon is called "five trees with the same root".
How to get to Yubeng Village: Yubeng Village is located in the hinterland of Meili Snow Mountain. It is geographically remote, so it has preserved a good original ecological natural landscape. However, it is difficult to get to Yubeng Village. From all over the country, you need to go to Shangri-La first, then transfer to Feilai Temple in Deqin County, and then charter a car to Xidang from Feilai Temple to start hiking into Yubeng Village.
