Gongsheng Zaofang

乌镇东栅景区-公生糟坊

Gongsheng Zaofang is an old shop that has been around since the Qing Dynasty. It has a golden sign and several special products.
The Zaofang is very big. There is a wine shop inside and a dilapidated doorway. It looks really old.
The specialty here is the brewing of Sanbai liquor using the most primitive method. It became famous because it was chosen by Zhu Yuanzhang as the liquor for the celebration when he ascended the throne. The strong aroma of the liquor can be smelled as soon as you enter. It is made on site and can be tasted for free.
I bought a bowl and it was delicious. It had a fresh taste and good rice quality. It wasn't too sweet or pungent, and it looked beautiful. It was really good. Century-old shops are just different.

This is where the Three Whites liquor is brewed. Hundreds of sealed jars of liquor line the courtyard, yet the aroma is still tangy. I'm not sure which three whites are in the Three Whites liquor, and I didn't read the introduction at the time. This is an authentic little workshop, complete with the equipment for refining the liquor and a large chimney.

At Wuzhen's Gongsheng Zaofang, the rich aroma of wine lingers in the air, where ancient brewing techniques are passed down through generations. Stepping into the Zaofang feels like hearing the whisper of time, as each drop of fine wine tells a story of the Jiangnan water town, leaving you intoxicated before even sipping, and leaving you with an endless aftertaste.

Sanbai Liquor Shop

Wuzhen's specialty, Sanbaijiu, is 55°. Those who can drink can go and try a free glass. You can also spend 5 yuan to buy a bowl of sweet rice wine. You can taste a little bit of alcohol, the sweet feeling is good, but the taste is not amazing.

You can observe the entire winemaking process in the winery

This is a concentrated display of local wine culture, and the entire winemaking process will be presented to tourists.

The winery sells chilled fermented glutinous rice, which is the best way to cool down under the scorching sun.

It's not a very big place, but you can try their sweet rice wine. It tastes completely different from the Xiaogan rice wine from Hubei. The rice is sweet and sticky, and the wine has a nice aftertaste.

Gao Gongsheng Winery

Gao Gongsheng Zaofang was founded in the 11th year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1872 AD). It has a shop in front and a workshop in the back, and adheres to the one-stop production and sales structure. It mainly produces three white liquors, rice wine, black wine, etc. In the workshop, you can watch the winemaking process and taste the original, sweet and mellow three white liquors for free.

What is "Three White Liquor"? The "Wuqing Town Chronicle" states: "It is made with white rice, white flour, and white water, hence the name." Clearly, the name "Three White Liquor" comes from the fact that its three main ingredients: glutinous rice, distiller's yeast, and groundwater are all white. Three White Liquor is mellow, pure, sweet, and delicious, suitable for all ages. Wuzhen residents use it to entertain guests during the Spring Festival, as evidenced by a folk song: "Cat shit, taro, and Du Da wine; guests won't want to leave after tasting it." Thus, Three White Liquor gained another name: Du Da wine.

The lees are very fragrant, just in time for the masters to make the wine, and the fragrance immediately overflows

By Miss Zhao-zcy |

I went in and bought some wine lees. It's said that in the TV series back then, the second female lead was called something else. If you eat this wine lees, you'll get drunk. I ate a big bowl of it and had no reaction at all.

It is said that the winemaking industry in Wuzhen was very developed in ancient times, but unfortunately there is only this workshop left now. It is very interesting to learn about the traditional winemaking methods and venues, and experience the life and craftsmanship of ancient people. It is a very meaningful cultural heritage.

Winery, almost. I remember there seems to be a winery in Shajiabang, Changshu. If you are going there, you can go and have a look. It is not a loss if you don't go.

By Schrödinger's Cat |

I visit Wuzhen every year for a relaxing break, and I've been there no fewer than five times. I've stayed at waterfront guesthouses twice, but the overall value wasn't great. The rest of the time, I've stayed at Zhaoming Shushe, a very affordable hotel that usually requires booking a month in advance. It's a quiet and elegant retreat nestled in the city. The Shusheng mutton stall in the alleyway is absolutely amazing—a must-try in autumn and winter. I've visited all of Wuzhen's attractions more than a dozen times, most recently with my 50D and 1740 lens. Feel free to ask me any questions.

By YY |

It’s actually a winery, and there are many fine wines here.

By Brilliant broken bicycle |

Actually, Wuzhen itself is really interesting, but now it is becoming more and more commercialized, which is not good.

Also known as Sanbai Liquor Shop, this winery has a history of over a hundred years. It is also a shop-in-front-and-workshop model. The winery is filled with wine jars and the strong aroma of wine permeates the air. In the winery, you can watch the production process of Sanbai Liquor and get a free taste. However, the alcohol content of the wine is quite high, so be careful not to drink too much.

Gongsheng Zaofang is where wine is made. It smells good inside, but there's nothing much there. It's just a traditional wine-making process. Just go in and take a look. If you like drinking, you can buy some.

With its overall beauty of harmonious coexistence of natural environment and human environment, it presents the spatial charm of the ancient water town in the south of the Yangtze River. I took a closer look at the wine workshop and drank a small glass of wine. It was very pure.

By Dance to your heart's content |

It's OK, a small attraction, just take some photos.

By Hao is not stingy |

The Sanbaijiu jar is very big and has a lot of wine-making tools. It allows everyone to understand the culture of wine-making. It is very good. You can try it if you have the chance.

By Xiaotao |

It was very touching. I had never seen it before, only on TV. It was great to see the live version for the first time.

By rather |

As soon as we entered the winery, we were immediately drawn in by the aroma. It was delicious, but we saw waiters chatting in groups of three or four. Some of the exhibits and production tools had no pictures or explanations, and no one explained them. We didn't know anything about them, and the service felt subpar. No wonder we heard the guides from other groups say there wasn't much to see inside.

By Rosewood |

The entire wine-making process is fully displayed, the aroma of wine fills the garden, and you can also taste the wine yourself. The entire wine-making process is ancient and very good. I bought a few bottles of wine in classical packaging to take away.

By Backpackers who don't go home |

Inside the East Gate of Wuzhen, I drank two cups of freshly brewed hot wine, which tasted very good.

By Lollipop Autumn |

As soon as I entered the yard, I smelled the strong aroma of wine, and the wine was being boiled in the big pot!
