Student tickets only cost 10 yuan, and full price is only 20 yuan. When I bought the ticket, I thought that such a cheap zoo would not have much to offer. However, the result is that Hangzhou Zoo has become my No.1 in the many zoos I have visited (Beijing, Guangzhou, etc.).

It's very spacious and didn't feel crowded during holidays. There are many trees and hills, which makes it feel like walking in the forest. It's very comfortable. There are also many kinds of animals, from fish to reptiles and birds. It was very exciting to see them!

You can also see giant pandas!

❤️Hangzhou Zoo❤️

This may be one of the most cost-effective zoos in China🤪

A paradise for strolling with children❗️

Cheap and fun❗️

The surrounding area is full of beautiful scenery❗️

📍Detailed address:

No. 40, Hupao Road, Xihu District, Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province

🚙Transportation Tips:

Take bus No. 514, K315, K822, 31, etc. and get off at the [Zoo] stop.

⏰Opening hours: 08:00-17:00

💰Ticket price: 20 yuan per person.

Children between 1.2 and 1.5 meters are charged RMB 10; children under 1.2 meters are free.

It only costs 30 yuan to buy a combined ticket with the Children's Park next door.

🚶Expected play time: 2-3 hours (depending on the child's physical fitness)

💟Featured Recommendations

1⃣Zoos have always been a popular place for children. If you can't think of where to take your kids, go to Hangzhou Zoo. It's located in the city with convenient transportation. It's not as remote as the Shanghai Wild Animal Park, but not as crowded as Chimelong. There are not many species of animals here, but they are quite diverse. There are all kinds of animals flying in the sky, swimming in the water, herbivorous and carnivorous. It basically achieves the goal of being small but complete, and it's not tiring to play. 🤩 Moreover, next door is the Children's Park (Manlong Guiyu). Parents who take their kids out for a walk can buy a combined ticket (only 30 yuan) and have a happy day. 😇

2⃣️In addition to the cute little animals, the scenery here is also great, as you can see from pictures 14-16😎

3⃣️The zoo is in an excellent location, adjacent to Hupao Dream Spring and Liuhe Pagoda in the south, and connected to the Children's Park (Manlong Guiyu Park, see another note about it for details), Huagang Fish Watching and Taiziwan Park in the north. If you are physically fit, you can check in for a whole day. Except for Huagang Fish Watching, I personally don't recommend it (too many people and too few fish 😬), the others are all worth checking in, especially Taiziwan Park (see another note about it for details)

💡Practical tips

1⃣️I really want to appeal here: be civilized tourists❗️❗️❗️There are signs everywhere in the zoo reminding tourists not to feed the animals, but there are still many people who ignore them, feed them at will, throw things around, and there are even unscrupulous people who casually picked up a branch with leaves to attract a giraffe, and the giraffe actually chewed it☹️They did this just to let the giraffe take a photo with its child😤With such parenting, there will definitely be one more naughty child in the future😐😐😐I also hope that the zoo will strengthen supervision in addition to putting up a sign. For example, they can learn from foreign countries and sell special animal food for one dollar for tourists to feed. It would be great to kill two birds with one stone~

2⃣️If you plan to check in at the zoo and the neighboring Manlong Guiyu Park at the same time, you can buy a combined ticket directly at the ticket office for only 30 yuan❗️It is really cheap and generous, a paradise for strolling with children❗️

3⃣️There used to be giant pandas in the zoo, but now they are gone. I heard they were returned. It turns out they are just national treasures that come here for entertainment.😆

4⃣ There are not many delicious foods for sale in the zoo, so it is recommended to bring enough food and drinks. There are not many places to sit and rest, and there will definitely be no place on weekends. It is recommended to bring your own picnic mat.

The price is affordable and there are many small animals. I always think it is very cost-effective.

The Hangzhou Zoo is located in the mountains around West Lake. Transportation is not too troublesome, but there are relatively few animals and they all look quite old.

It's good to take your kids there, after all, it's a zoo in the scenic area, but there are too few animals, and there are many more people visiting.

Many children are playing happily here, and the animals also look very happy.

It's on a small hill, which is quite tiring, but the ticket is very cheap and the overall feeling is also very good

This is the most visited check-in spot in Hangzhou. I checked in every week when my children were young!

By Rongrong's father |

The smaller Hangzhou Wildlife Park has cheaper tickets but a lot of animals.

By Great Magician SS |

Built in the mountains of Hupao, the facilities are a bit old and not very big. Not only children, but adults can also find fun, and there are animal performances.

By Find a better self |

There are many animals, and the tickets are cheap, 10 yuan for children and 20 for adults, which is very suitable for bringing children.

By Dust-soaked Dust-soaked |

This is a very old zoo, a place I have been going to since preschool. It is located in the city, so it is very small, but it is still very popular with children.

By Come back_sky |

As an older zoo, it is really worth the money. The tickets are very cheap, and it is also good to take children to visit on weekends. There are many animals in it, and children also like to see them.

By Qianqian |

The kids loved going there, and they loved watching the sea lion and tiger shows the most. There used to be circus shows, but now animal shows are banned, so it’s less fun.

By zhaokai |

We went straight to the Hangzhou Zoo. We didn't have to go down the mountain and just passed a gate to scan our ID card to enter. The zoo was built on the mountain and was not very large. It was smaller than the Tianjin Zoo we visited, and it couldn't be compared with the one in Beijing. But it also had its own characteristics. There were not many animals, but you had to climb a mountain to see each one, which was a bit uh~. Fortunately, my daughter is easy to satisfy.

Tickets are purchased by scanning the QR code on Alipay, 20 yuan per person. Children under 1.2 meters do not need to buy tickets.

Although the sun is very strong, there are many big trees here, and the road is almost shaded, so it is quite cool.

Is it hot here in the summer? Has anyone been there? Please comment

Hangzhou Zoo is one of China's seven largest zoos. A reminder: Weekends are crowded, so driving is not recommended. First, there are odd-even license plate restrictions near West Lake on weekends. Second, parking spaces are limited near the zoo, making it difficult to find a spot. Zoo admission is 20 yuan per adult, 10 yuan per child (1.2-1.5 meters), and children under 1.2 meters are free. Tiger Run is separated from the Children's Park and the zoo by a side entrance. You can purchase tickets on-site or buy a combined ticket and show it to the staff at the side entrance.

Tickets at the Hangzhou Zoo are very affordable. Adults: 20 yuan, children: 10 yuan. 🙊🙊 Opening hours: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM (peak season), 7:00 PM - 5:00 PM (off-season). You can purchase tickets at the counter or through Alipay (a QR code is available at the entrance). Once you enter, you'll see a map of the park layout, perfect for checking in. 🙈⚠️ The park is nestled against a mountain, with many paths leading to steps and staggered levels, making it difficult to navigate. We recommend taking a map before entering to avoid missing the adorable animals. 🐒Multiple image warnings ahead👇👇👇 "Grandpa Monkey" with his white beard, a strikingly sculpted bird-lion 🙈 suddenly stood up, his muscular body 🐼 lying comfortably 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈 Because we're a bit averse to reptiles, some of the smaller animals were deliberately avoided for photos.📷Maybe it was the muggy July weather, the larger critters were lazy, either lying down or sprawled. ⚠️Every animal care area in the park has a notice 🈲️ about stealing food from the smaller animals, so be sure not to feed them. There's a cast elephant next to the elephant area 🐘. Sitting on its trunk felt like being 8 years old again 😝😝 There will be performances in the Acrobatics and Sea Lion Pavilions. The first performance starts at 10:00 AM, with each performance taking less than half an hour. 👍👍 Recommended for children 🙈🙈 The park has been built for a while, so the performance facilities are relatively simple, but the performers were fantastic. P.S. The pavilions are quite enclosed, and once the seats are full, it gets quite hot and stuffy. I recommend bringing a small electric fan. At the end of the Sea Lion Pavilion, you can take photos with the sea lion cubs, but the line was long, so we didn't. We continued our walkabout, stopping and exploring. We followed the crowd to a small pond 📷📷📷 I'm not sure why there were no animals in several zoo areas. Maybe it was too hot, so they went to escape the heat? 🧐🧐🙈🙈If the animals weren't enough, I'd add some photoshopped photos. 👇👇We wandered around the zoo for an hour and a half, stopping to take photos. We didn't see some of the reptiles. 🍃🍃If you're traveling with a baby, I'd recommend planning about 2.5 hours for the shows and animals, as you'll need to introduce them to the animals and take photos. ⚠⚠️️The zoo is close to West Lake, so when it's crowded, the roads may become one-way. We recommend taking the bus, and we'll keep you informed of any road changes. Ultimately, I highly recommend visiting the Hangzhou Zoo; the 20 yuan entrance fee is a great value. 🎊🎊After visiting the zoo, you can also stroll along West Lake.

By Cherish & Fate |

We went to the Hangzhou Zoo and saw many animals. The cutest ones were the brown bears and the pandas, the national treasure. There were many children in the zoo, and it was very lively.

By Hi Connie ❀~ |

The main reason is that the ticket is cheap, there are not many animals inside, and the environment is also average. The main advantage is the price. It seems that you have to climb a mountain during the viewing process.

By 、kiki |

The Hangzhou Zoo ticket is really affordable. I think it's quite nice inside. The greenery is great and there are many animals. We didn't see them all (there were so many mosquitoes) mainly because we were too tired.

By Ice Beauty |

This is a zoo built on a mountain. It was really a good exercise, so I basically didn’t take any photos.

By Chenchen's mother |

The Hangzhou Zoo has beautiful natural scenery and a wide variety of animals. Although we only saw one panda, who was still napping, we did get to see snakes being fed for the first time. By chance, they were feeding white mice, the big snakes feeding the older mice, the smaller snakes feeding the hairless mice. Wow, it was quite an exciting scene. As we were leaving, we saw a large, slightly reddish snail. My son loved it, but we ended up putting it back in the grass to avoid it getting stepped on. We also watched an acrobatic show, and my son bought a magic trick and learned some magic tricks. We also watched a baby sea lion perform, which was adorable. During the show, he mischievously slipped backstage and didn't come out for a long time.

By "True Rain Rare" |

In the conveniently located West Lake Forest, there are lions, tigers, pandas, elephants... as well as acrobatic and sea lion performances. The full ticket is 20 yuan, and children under 1.2 years old are free. You can feed the seals as much as you want for 5 yuan. It is highly recommended.

By Zhang Xiaomao |

Tickets to the Hangzhou Zoo are only 20 yuan, which is great value. They even have pandas. Although it's an old-fashioned zoo, it has all the animals you'd expect, and the vegetation is plentiful. The scenery is beautiful, making it a great place for kids. It was raining this time, so it wasn't crowded, so overall, it was a good experience. The train is 5 yuan per person, and 10 yuan for one child and one adult—a great deal. My baby had two rides and was so happy he even said he could drive a train! Hehe, feeding seals is 5 yuan per person, and our family of three went in. It was our first time getting up close and personal with seals, and the little one was quite brave.

By 👼 Emily👼 |

This was my first time at the zoo. I saw parrots, giraffes, white swans, zebras, giant pandas, black bears, alligators, giant salamanders, and reticulated snakes (apparently the world's longest snake). Because of the terrain, visiting the Hangzhou Zoo felt a bit like climbing a mountain. Oh, and I also saw a white peacock—it was incredibly beautiful. Time flew by, around 4:45 PM, and I missed the tiger and lion viewing time.

By MYTH |

There are two zoos in Hangzhou. The other one is a wildlife park, the kind without cages. This one has caged animals. The ticket price is 20 yuan per person, which is very reasonable. In our small cities, it’s 25 yuan.

The design of the entire zoo is relatively close to nature, the environment is beautiful, and there are not many mosquitoes... It is like being on a small hill. After entering, there are many steps to go up, some of which are quite steep. It is still quite tiring to bring a baby with me. I can't climb it myself...

There's a map at the zoo entrance; remember to take a picture to avoid getting lost. Most of the animals are well cared for, and I especially remember the large black bear with its shiny fur. We searched for directions to see the giant pandas, and finally a local man told us the panda enclosure was up Monkey Mountain. As we made our way up, I was like, wow, seeing giant pandas for the first time in my life—so adorable! My husband and I were discussing why, since they're both bears, we only find bears scary, but pandas are so adorable. They're truly adorable.

By LunaKing |

The Hangzhou Zoo is incredibly cost-effective. Adult tickets are 20 yuan, and senior tickets are 10 yuan. Located at the foot of a mountain, it feels like climbing a mountain. The trees are lush and the shade and coolness are nice. The only problem is that the various areas aren't very close together, each with its own enclosure. They have elephants, giraffes, chimpanzees, lions, tigers, leopards, bears, zebras, and more. There's also a free sea lion show, a miniature train, and a carousel. The kids had a blast, but they refused to walk after a while. I had to hold them up because the car couldn't get up the steps. Families without strong males should be cautious. The zoo was a good experience.

By Love Dudu |

The Hangzhou Zoo is better than the Hangzhou Wildlife Park. But I actually think the Wildlife Park is far more advanced and sophisticated. If a Wildlife Park is a large amusement park, then the Hangzhou Zoo is a small children's playground. It must have been built a long time ago, so the facilities are a bit run-down. Admission to the zoo is very affordable, only 20 yuan per person, and the Hangzhou Citizen Card is only 24 yuan a year, but the parking lot next door is 20 yuan an hour. Upon entering and seeing the map, I was tempted to rush in to see the tigers—after all, that was our primary goal. But thankfully, I didn't. I proceeded methodically from entrance to exit. My first stop was the Goldfish Pavilion. When I saw it, I scoffed—who wants to see goldfish?! But at Du's insistence, I went in anyway. I saw a goldfish with large transparent bubbles on either side of its face. I wanted to pop those bubbles. Monkeys, like bears, are kept in pits, so the zoo's tunnels really sparked my imagination. Tangyuan, seemingly drawn to the monkeys, insisted on going down into the pits. Seeing the keepers below further solidified his desire to go down. The birds and reptiles that followed completely failed to pique my interest. That was the end of my zoo trip. Overall, the Hangzhou Zoo's greenery is truly stunning, lush and verdant, and it seems to be naturally occurring, not deliberately planted. By comparison, the living environment for humans is much better than that for the animals. As a long-term resident of Hangzhou, this zoo should be a good place to stroll through in my spare time, and the ticket price is very reasonable. However, after making a special trip just to see the animals, I was still a little disappointed. First, the facilities are a bit dated, especially those for the disabled and for mothers and babies. Second, the living environment for the animals really needs improvement.

By Doraemon ✨ |

We got off the bus at the zoo. Tickets were 20 yuan per person. People under 1.2 meters tall don't need to pay. What a great idea! Hangzhou Zoo didn't offer any discounts on animals just because the ticket price was lower. Compared to Dalian Zoo, there were more species, just fewer in number. My favorite thing was feeding seals, which were charged per person, including the babies. Fish were 5 yuan per person. It took about two hours to walk around the zoo.

By Not leaving Zhongshan |

The Hangzhou Zoo isn't particularly large, nestled against a mountainside. The layout is cleverly designed to cater to the animal's habitat. It boasts a wide variety of animals and is the cleanest and most beautiful zoo I've ever been to! Admission is 20 yuan, and there are free performances.

By Yang Shuhan |

The next day I went to Hangzhou Zoo, near West Lake. The ticket price was 20 yuan, which was very reasonable. It had everything and was very suitable for taking children with me.

By What grass is not yellow is six six |

It's a very good destination for family trips, but some animals are sleeping at noon.

Do you think you can get by without giving it a full score? For 20 yuan, you can see pandas, elephants, circuses, and sea lion performances. It's a conscience price. It costs hundreds of yuan in other places.

I went to the Hangzhou Zoo. This zoo is really a test of physical strength! The first time I visited the zoo, I had to climb a mountain. I was also drunk. The highlights are: 1⃣️ The ticket price is absolutely conscience, 20 yuan per person 2⃣️ There are black panthers inside 3⃣️ You can feed seals for only 5 yuan per person

Yesterday I took my children to visit the Hangzhou Zoo (it is worth a visit, especially with children). It was really worth it. The prices were favorable, there were many species of animals, it was an eye-opener, and we didn’t want to leave.

Hangzhou Zoo, one of China's seven largest zoos, is located south of West Lake in Hangzhou, at the foot of Baihe Peak on Daci Mountain. Spanning 20 hectares, it is a mountain-forest-style zoo integrating wildlife conservation, scientific research, popular science education, and tourism. It has been recognized as one of the "Top Ten Zoos in China" and a "Model Civilized Unit" in Hangzhou. It is also a national wildlife conservation and popular science education base, as well as a Zhejiang Province popular science education base.

After all, it is a zoo in a provincial capital city, so there are quite a few different animals, including giraffes, giant and red pandas, and dolphin shows.

By littlejane |

I live nearby and came to visit. I didn't expect the 20 yuan ticket to be worth it. The old-fashioned gate is very old. The zoo is very large and has a wide variety of animals. There are chimpanzees and tigers. The accommodation is very good.

There are a wide variety of animals, including zebras, tigers, lions, seals, pandas, elephants, giraffes... They are all there. Tickets are cheap, 20 yuan, a reasonable price. Many places are stairs, so if you bring a stroller, you have to take a detour.

Hangzhou Zoo is located in the West Lake Scenic Area, but there are really few animals there.

By China-TravelNote users |

It is a conscience of the industry. There are many animals that can be seen with a 20 yuan ticket. It is worth a visit when you come to Hangzhou. The small shops at the entrance of the zoo are generally dark. It is recommended to bring some water and food with you before departure. If you have children, bring some toys to comfort them!

By misty |

It's very big and you can spend a whole day there, and the tickets are not expensive.

It's not bad, there are many animals, the small animal park is fun, and the rest is just okay, there are two pandas and a lot of people.

By Victory |

With the rise of wildlife parks in major cities, more traditional zoos have been somewhat sluggish. However, at 20 RMB, this place is a steal. Don't worry about the small size and outdated facilities.

The ticket price of 20 yuan is very reasonable and it is always packed with tourists on weekends.

By A Bee Fan |

I had a very bad impression of the zoo. There were too many people there. And when I saw the pandas inside and the bamboo painted on the wall, I felt so pitiful.

As a city zoo, Hangzhou Zoo is quite standard. It is adjacent to Hupao and Manlong Guiyu, and has all kinds of animals. My favorite is Bear Mountain. The bears are very cute and can stand up to receive food.

The ticket to Hangzhou Zoo is only 20 yuan, and students can get it at half price. If nothing else, you should go just for the price. There are quite a lot of animal species in the zoo, and it is definitely worth the money. The pandas are very cute, and the gorilla family is very funny.

Hangzhou Zoo is much smaller than Guangzhou Zoo and Dalian Zoo, so there's not much to see and do. Admission is 20 yuan per person. Guangzhou Zoo is much larger, with many animals, and you can spend a whole day there. Dalian Zoo offers close animal contact and even allows for selfies with alpacas.

The special thing about the Hangzhou Zoo is… it’s super gory… They put a little white mouse in each snake’s transparent box, and then the kids can watch the snakes bite the little white mouse to death with one bite… (I was really scared when I saw it, and many snakes started eating at the same time…)

If you're traveling with little ones, the Hangzhou Zoo is a great budget-friendly option. Tickets are only 20 yuan, and it's close to the city center. We took a taxi from the train station for under 30 yuan, less than ten minutes, compared to over half an hour by bus. There's a wide variety of animals, including giant pandas and kangaroos. There are no cages or fences, allowing for close encounters with the animals. There are also dolphin and acrobatic performances, but there are time limits. Check the schedule beforehand. I think there was a 9:00 one, and we were a bit late after the tour, which was a shame. The downside is that each animal's enclosure is small, and the facilities feel a bit dated, but having children is key. Feeding the sea lions is only 5 yuan, while taking a photo with the dolphins in Qinhuangdao costs 60 yuan—a huge difference. The train ride is 5 yuan, and the rotating spaceship is 5 yuan—all 5 yuan—so cheap.

It is worth a visit. The ticket is only 20 yuan, which is very cheap. There are all kinds of animals in it, and there are also acrobatic performances to watch.

The living conditions for the animals at the Hangzhou Zoo aren't very good. There are only two black bears on a large rockery, and the dolphin show was mostly just a photo op. The kangaroos wouldn't even jump, and they were rather small. We did see a lot of unusual birds, though. It's okay for children to play with, but the windows are very dirty, as if they haven't been cleaned in a while. I hope the zoo director can keep the animals healthy and the environment better.
