After leaving the Leifeng Pagoda scenic area, Jingci Temple is not far away.
The ninth of the ten scenic spots of West Lake, “Evening Bell of Nanping”, refers to the evening bell of Jingci Temple on Nanping Mountain.
If you visit Jingci Temple in the morning, you naturally won't be able to hear the evening bells.
However, someone paid to ring the bell, so I also got a chance to enjoy the clear and melodious sound of the bell, ^_^~
After buying our tickets and entering, we met a few enthusiastic old tourists. Seeing that we were looking at the scenic area map, they knew we were unfamiliar with the area and took the initiative to recommend the must-see attraction of Yunmu Ancient Well to us. It is about a legend about Jigong. As for the story, I won't tell you here. If you are interested, you can search it online.
As for the tour route, we first visited the main Vajra Hall and the Main Hall, and then went to the Bell Tower and the Ancient Wood Transporting Well, making a circle from right to left. After all, the main attractions are on the right side, so we had to give priority to them to avoid missing them.
The second largest ancient temple in Hangzhou, the vegetarian dishes are delicious
Located on the south bank of West Lake, opposite Leifeng Pagoda, this temple is one of the four great ancient temples in West Lake's history and one of China's most famous monasteries. Because of the resounding sound of its bells, the "Nanping Evening Bell" has become one of the "Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake."
The ticket is 10 yuan. You can see Jigong Well, Nanping Evening Bell, and you can also overlook the Leifeng Pagoda of West Lake from the top. It is generally good.
I only took a look at the periphery, and the soundscape of Nanping Evening Bell, one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake, is here.
The location of Nanping Evening Bell, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake, is just opposite Leifeng Pagoda. The temple is built on the mountain, with part of it halfway up the mountain. The big bell of Nanping Evening Bell is on the second floor of the main hall not far from the entrance.
It snowed for two years in a row and it was very quiet and beautiful.
A very quiet temple, right next to the Nanping Evening Bell
I'm so shocked! This is one of the ten scenic spots of Nanping Evening Bell. It costs 10 yuan to ring the bell once! I would never go into a temple that charges money. Are you crazy about money?
After all, the scenery at West Lake in June is unlike any other time of year. The lotus leaves stretch to the sky, their beauty endlessly green, the lotus blossoms a striking crimson in the sunlight. At dawn, I departed Jingci Temple to see Lin Zifang off. The enchanting scenery of Jingci Temple.
Across from Leifeng Pagoda, I searched around for the Nanping Evening Bell and finally found it inside a building on the right hand side of the entrance. I thought it was outside, but I was wrong from the start...
The Buddha Bathing Pool is very interesting. Things that involve participation are always enjoyable.
Jingci Temple, located on the south bank of West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, opposite Leifeng Pagoda, is one of the four great ancient temples of West Lake and one of China's most famous temples. Because of the resounding sound of its bells, the "Nanping Evening Bell" has become one of the "Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake."
The Nanping Evening Bell is in Jing Temple, and Jigong is also famous in Jing Temple, which is a holy place in my heart.
Jingci Temple is different from other temples in that burning incense is not allowed inside the temple. It is said that it was once destroyed by a fire. There are usually many tourists inside, but it is still worth a visit.

We walked quietly through Jingci Temple, encountering road signs and monks at work, framing the Leifeng Pagoda across the way, and snapping a moment looking back through the wooden door into the temple. All of these were beautiful moments. As long as you have eyes that can discover beauty, you will be able to capture more beautiful moments.
It's just opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, which is very convenient.
I heard from local friends that the Guanyin enshrined here is very effective.
Quiet, grand, with a strong Buddhist atmosphere, not many people, very comfortable
It's a very beautiful and low-key temple. When I went there, it was just before the summer rain, so there were few people inside and it was very quiet. The atmosphere and furnishings inside were very comfortable.
We all headed to the scenic area's main gate to catch the bus. But when we emerged, we discovered that across from Leifeng Pagoda was another temple, seemingly called Jingci Temple (the bus stop was called Jingsi), which seemed rather deserted. For those of us who enjoy uncrowded attractions, we had to go in and see it.
Once inside, we were delighted. The temple grounds were sparsely populated with tourists, and the entire courtyard was utterly silent. People are so drawn to the "famous" sights of Leifeng Pagoda that they overlook the lesser-known yet fascinating attractions right before their eyes... We wandered the temple grounds with immense joy. The lush trees, the curling incense smoke, the majestic halls, the solemn atmosphere—it's truly a place worth visiting. And the view from the opposite side of the hall, overlooking Leifeng Pagoda, was even better.
O(∩_∩)O Haha~ Yang Wanli's "Sending Lin Zifang Off from Jingci Temple at Dawn" is about this place. It is right opposite the Leifeng Pagoda Scenic Area and is just across the street.
There are not many people, and the tickets for the ancient temple are not expensive. It is worth a visit.
Jingci Temple, one of the four ancient temples of West Lake, is located at the foot of Huiri Peak on Nanping Mountain. Built in 954 AD by Qian Hongchu of the Wuyue Kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period for the eminent Zen Master Yongming, it was originally named Yongming Zen Temple. It was renamed Jingci Temple during the Southern Song Dynasty. The "Nanping Evening Bell," one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake, is located here. Above the temple gate, a red plaque inscribed with six golden characters reads, "Le Jian Jingci Zen Temple." Stone lions sit in front of the gate, creating a majestic scene. Legend has it that Zen Master Jigong once practiced here, and the story of "carrying wood from the ancient well" took place here. The pavilion dedicated to the "Nanping Evening Bell" scenic spot is located not far east of the temple.
Jingci Zen Temple is located on Nanshan Road in Hangzhou, and is also the location of the Nanping Evening Bell, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake.
Opposite the West Lake, the tickets are very cheap, and there are very few people, unlike those in the West Lake.
The gate attracted me immediately, it was both solemn and charming.
I didn’t take many photos inside the temple, but the garden pieces and the pigeons all over the ground gave people a very peaceful and harmonious feeling.
Tickets to Jingci Temple are accepted in cash only. The evening bell of Nanping costs 10 yuan each time. Climbing to the top of Jingci Temple, the Sakya Shop is an excellent location to take photos of the Leifeng Pagoda opposite. There are vegetarian dishes in Jingci Temple, including vegetarian tofu and vegetarian roast goose. The tofu is delicious, but the roast goose is terrible. If you can't finish it alone, don't throw it away in Jingci Temple. Please take it outside and throw it away, otherwise you will be dissed by the old lady inside.
Leifeng Pagoda and Jingci Temple complement each other, creating a truly stunning sight! The two attractions are separated by a road, making them incredibly close! The bus stops directly at the entrance, and the Jingci Temple stop is also called Jingci Temple. Just across the road to the west of Leifeng Pagoda is the Art Museum, so you can enjoy all three attractions together!
A friend recommended this place, right across from Leifeng Pagoda. Admission is 10 yuan. It's very quiet and uncrowded. As soon as you enter, you'll hear the Nanping Evening Bell to your right, which rings once for 10 yuan. My mother, a Buddhist, explored every hall while we rested, and the kids played a lot under the shade of the trees in the temple courtyard. The monks and volunteers were there, and it was a wonderful experience. They sell vegetarian roast goose and noodles outside. Overall, it's a quiet and peaceful place.
The Nanping Evening Bell is located opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, Jigong's territory. The temple is large and the fish are well-raised.
There is no explicit rule against taking photos of Buddha statues, but if you do take photos of Buddha statues, you will be asked to stop taking photos, with the reason being that Buddha should be in your heart, which is a bit disgusting.
My first impression of Jingci Temple was probably the seven-character quatrain "Sending Lin Zifang off at Dawn from Jingci Temple" that I learned as a child. Although the novel "Missing" doesn't describe Jingci Temple, it made me remember the place name.
Later, I heard "The Evening Bell of Nanping" from Meng Tingwei's song, "The evening bell of Nanping, drifting in the wind, seems to be urging me to wake up from my lovesick dream."
The Evening Bell of Nanping Mountain is one of the ten scenic spots of West Lake. Jingci Temple is located at the foot of Nanping Mountain.
Jingci Temple was first built during the Wuyue Kingdom period of the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and was renamed Jingci Temple during the Southern Song Dynasty. Of course, the current Buddhist halls were all rebuilt in the 1980s.
If you have time, you must find another evening to listen to the evening bells of Nanping Temple and watch the sunset over Leifeng Pagoda.
The pigeons in Jing Temple are more friendly to people than those in other scenic spots. You can try the vegetarian roast goose sold in the temple. You can go up the mountain through the back door of the scenic spot.
The Moon Reflected in the Lake of Peace, the Opening Clan, the Mirror Distant, the Trees Coming, the Evening Bell
Jingci Temple is located on the south bank of West Lake in Hangzhou. The main mountain is Nanping Mountain, a place of towering peaks, intricate rocks, and steep cliffs that resemble a barrier. Nanping Mountain rises from Tianmu Mountain and winds eastward for thousands of miles. Su Shi described it as "dragons flying and phoenixes dancing, converging in Lin'an."
Jingci Temple, one of West Lake's four ancient temples, boasts the resounding sound of its bells, earning it the title of "Nanping Evening Bell," one of the "Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake." Every evening, the melodious bells echo across the dusky West Lake, stirring endless reverie.
The temple buildings in Jingci Temple include the Main Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Jizu Hall, Vajra Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Ancient Wood Transporting Well, Imperial Stele Pavilion, Screen Wall, etc. The most Buddhist legend is the myth of Monk Jigong transporting wood through the ancient well of Jingci Temple.
After all, the scenery of West Lake in June is unlike any other season; the lotus leaves stretching to the sky are endlessly green, and the lotus flowers reflecting the sun are a unique red. I first learned about Jingci Zen Temple because of Yang Wanli's seven-character poem "Leaving Jingci Temple at Dawn to Farewell Lin Zifang"
Compared to the Leifeng Pagoda opposite, it is a temple that no one is suitable for visiting. I didn’t hear the evening bell of Nanping, and I don’t know when it will ring. Did Lin Zifang run away because of the heat? It was too hot on a sunny day just after the rainy season.
Jingci Temple, home to the Nanping Evening Bell, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake, is located across the road from Leifeng Pagoda. Compared to the bustling surroundings of other West Lake attractions, Jingci Temple is remarkably tranquil, even somewhat deserted. It's hard to imagine such a peaceful retreat right beside the lake.
The scenery is created by the heart, the heart goes wherever it wants, be happy and open-minded, and live a happy life.
I have been in Hangzhou for more than ten years, but this is the first time for me to come to this Feng Shui treasure land without praying to gods or Buddhas. The temples are built along the mountain, one layer higher than the other. There are endless pilgrims, but it is quite quiet. Listening to the leisurely and pleasant classical music can quickly calm your heart.
Walking up to the highest Sakyamuni Hall, the view suddenly opens up. Looking north, you can see Leifeng Pagoda, West Lake and Hangzhou city at a glance.
Opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, during the Spring Festival, it is a quiet place in a busy area. I like it very much.
A traditional Jiangnan temple. When I came to Hangzhou and West Lake, I came to Jingci Temple instead of Lingyin Temple. In fact, it was influenced by the storytelling I listened to and the TV series "Ji Gong" I watched when I was a child. The famous story of transporting wood in the ancient well took place here, so I came here specifically to see the wood in the well.
The inn we stayed in was on Wangzhuang Kindergarten Road. It was very close to Leifeng Pagoda and less than 10 minutes’ walk away. We would pass by Jingci Temple and you could stop by to have a look.
The bell mentioned in the Nanping Evening Bell is located in Jingci Temple. The entrance fee is 10 yuan, which isn't expensive. Each ring costs 10 yuan. The sound of the bell is deep and rich. Once you enter the temple, you'll be enveloped by the tranquility of this Buddhist sanctuary. From the highest point, you can overlook Leifeng Pagoda—it's truly breathtaking! A special reminder: please be mindful of your words and actions. We encountered children who didn't line up. We're not criticizing them, as their every move is influenced by their parents. The main criticism here is directed at the parents. It's a Buddhist institution where parents don't give these reminders. Once again, I remind everyone considering visiting this sacred Buddhist place to be mindful of your words and actions. As the old saying goes, good deeds are watched by heaven.

A particularly noteworthy feature is a newly cast bronze bell weighing over 100 kilograms, inscribed with the 68,000-character Lotus Sutra, written by Zhao Puchu and others. Every evening, the melodious sound of the bell echoes across the dusky West Lake, stirring endless reverie.

Jingci Temple, where Jigong became a monk, boasts a wood-carrying well. Legend has it that all the wood needed for the temple's construction came from this well. The abbot declared, "Enough." Jigong stopped, leaving a log in the well (you can still see it today). As a result, a door was missing. The wood in the well could no longer be pulled up. What was Jigong to do? Jigong piled the sawed-off wood together and used his feet to form a door. Legends are just legends, but Jingci Temple offers a beautiful setting. It's worth a visit.
Tired of walking, I sat down on the side of the road. There was a temple next to it that required a 10-yuan ticket to enter. I thought it was just an ordinary temple and didn't take it seriously. I just took some photos. Later, I found out that this was the location of the Nanping Evening Bell, one of the ten scenic spots, so I went in immediately. The word "Nanping" has a special meaning to me. It's the name of the town where I live, and there's also the song "Nanping Evening Bell." So I had to go in anyway. Although there was nothing special, I saw a local aunt going in to worship Buddha. Then I went to the bell tower next to it and saw someone paying to ring the bell. I felt what the ancients felt when they heard the Nanping Evening Bell.

There is a temple inside Lingyin Feilai Peak. The ticket is included in the ticket of Lingyin Feilai Peak Scenic Area.
It is a very elegant temple, much quieter than Lingyin Temple, with not many tourists. Many palaces are renovated and very clean. It is the temple where Jigong became a monk for the second time. There are ancient wells for transporting wood and the Nanping evening bell.
Opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, the Leifeng Pagoda is bustling with people, while the Jingci Temple is very quiet.
First, the Nanping Evening Bell. Second, the ancient wood-carrying well and the Main Hall are truly breathtaking. Compared to the chaotic Leifeng Pagoda across the way, this place offers 10 minutes to reflect on life. A ten-yuan incense ticket allows you to freely burn incense. Each bell ring costs ten yuan. Much of the rest of the area is under renovation. Hopefully, it'll get better.
Less famous than Lingyin Temple, Jingci Temple is home to the renowned monk Jigong. The temple still retains the well that Jigong is said to have used to transport wood when the temple was built. Jingci Temple is also very popular, and the pond opposite is often used for releasing animals. The vegetarian food at Jingci Temple is also very delicious, so if you're visiting, you might want to spend a small amount to try it.
It is very close to Leifeng Pagoda, the ticket is 10 yuan and comes with three incense sticks.
Nice view, but I didn't go in because there were a lot of people.

A famous temple with a Nanping evening bell.
Jingci Temple, a famous place in Hangzhou, beside the West Lake
Under the Leifeng Pagoda lies the temple where Jigong is said to have passed away. Amidst the bustling crowds lies a tranquil and majestic temple. I highly recommend the vegetarian noodles on the left side of the gate; they're not only delicious but also a great way to calm your mind.
It's related to Jigong. I made a wish secretly there, but now I don't remember what I wished for.

I first learned about this place because of the legend that Jigong later practiced cultivation here. Later, I learned about it because of the Nanping Evening Bell, one of the most beautiful sights in West Lake. The melodious sound of the bell will make you intoxicated without you even realizing it.
A thousand-year-old temple, located opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, in the West Lake Scenic Area
Located opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, although it is not a big temple and is not very obvious, and it is easy to miss, it is very quiet inside, which is in sharp contrast to the flow of tourists in the Leifeng Pagoda. Personally, I still like this quiet and peaceful environment, which can calm the mind and please the body and mind. There is vegetarian food in the temple at noon, and the taste is quite good.
Jingci Temple is not far from Leifeng Pagoda and can be reached by bus 2.

Jingci Temple, across from Leifeng Pagoda, is a relatively unknown place. Admission is 10 yuan, and there's a gift of incense upon entering. Like any other temple, it's primarily a place for burning incense and worshipping Buddha.
First of all, the entrance fee is 10 yuan for adults, half price for those over 70 years old, and free for the disabled. It includes incense money. You get three incense sticks when you enter the door. There are many people worshipping gods and Buddhas in the middle. The magnificent construction of the main hall and other buildings reflects people's respect and awe for gods and Buddhas. There are many believers who worship devoutly. Behind the parking lot in the yard is Leifeng Pagoda. This is the Nanping Evening Bell Scenic Spot, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake, which is worth recommending.
The scenic area is a good place to visit when passing by Leifeng Pagoda Scenic Area
The temple is not big, it is where Jigong became a monk twice. It's ok.
It's located just opposite the Leifeng Pagoda, and is much quieter than the crowds across the street. The famous Nanping Evening Bell is right here, and the vegetarian food here is quite good.
Went to see the Nanping Evening Bell, but unfortunately many parts are under repair
It's very close to West Lake. It's just across from the Lu Xun Memorial Hall! The TV station Ji Kilometer Water Well and Wood is right here!
Looking out at Jingci Temple from the Leifeng Pagoda, for more than a thousand years, they have been paying attention to each other and witnessing each other's changes.
Jingci Temple is not only home to the beautiful line "The lotus leaves are endless and green, and the lotus flowers are red in the sun", but is also the location of Nanping Evening Bell, one of the Ten Scenic Spots of West Lake.
