The towering Kuocang Mountains, with their rolling hills, are vast and rich in beauty. The main peak, Mishailang, stands at 1,382.6 meters above sea level, the highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang Province. It was also the first site and best observation location for the dawn of the 21st century. Kuocang Mountain Wind Farm, one of the country's "Four Major Wind Farms", is built on the top of Kuocang Mountain. It is famous for its relative altitude, which ranks first among all wind farms in the world. Kuocang Mountain is one of the famous mountains in Zhejiang Province. The mountains are majestic and steep, with peaks and ridges overlapping. The mountain is shrouded in clouds and mist all year round. The winding mountain road winds down from the depths of the white clouds, like a dancing brocade ribbon against the blue sea and blue sky. It is a mountain and sea wonder of "wrapped in silk and half covering her face, Jiaona is extremely lovely". Kuocang Mountain, the place where the first ray of dawn first shone on the Chinese mainland in the 21st century, is located in Zhangjiadu Town, Linhai, Taizhou City, in central Zhejiang Province. The towering Kuocang Mountain stretches and undulates, is rich and broad, and the main peak, Mishailaang, is 1,382.6 meters above sea level, the highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang. The ridges that rise and fall one after another are home to Kuocang Mountain Wind Farm, one of the country's four major wind farms, and the staggered wind farms. The stunning natural landscapes of the nearby Jiutai Valley are a breathtaking sight, complementing each other to create a breathtakingly beautiful landscape. The surrounding Jiutai Valley boasts a breathtaking beauty, with sheer cliffs, towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, and deep, clear streams. The scenery along the way rivals that of Huihang, and Jiutai Valley alone is comparable to Shimentai in the Daluoyan Scenic Area of the Nanxi River. Cascading waterfalls, grotesque rocks, and whispering pines adorn the landscape, while the vegetation is rich, with typical subtropical plants lush green, interspersed with vibrant reds, sometimes tinted golden and sometimes purple under the influence of light. Kuacang Mountain is captivating for its winter misty pines and its 33-mill windmill wind farm. Finally, the panoramic view from the main peak, Mishalang, reveals the majestic, rolling peaks of the Kuacang Mountains, a breathtaking spectacle of towering peaks.

Taizhou's Kuocang Mountain, a peak in eastern Zhejiang, offers a stunning backdrop for sunrises and seas of clouds. Dense bamboo forests and ancient paths offer breathtaking views from the summit, offering panoramic views of the vast mountains and rivers. The tranquil, fresh air is a dream destination for hikers and photography enthusiasts.
It's a good place to see the big windmill, and there are many people camping.
On May 1, I drove to Kuancang Mountain. It took more than an hour to get from the town to the top of the mountain. After the road was renovated, the traffic was completely stress-free. There were also buses going up and down. There were many hairpin turns, so remember to bring the brakes and honk the horn. The scenery was average. I didn't camp. I reached the top of the mountain at 10 o'clock, walked around for an hour and a half, and then went down the mountain.
When we climbed up, the clouds were quite thick, the sunrise was not very good, and there was no sea of clouds and starry sky, but the scenery was still pretty good!
The mountains look small from a glance. The altitude is high and it is a bit cold. Even in summer, the temperature difference is quite large.
A great place to watch meteor showers, pretty good in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai
You can drive up and down the mountain by yourself throughout the whole journey, watch the sunset, the starry sky, and the sunrise!
I stayed in the cabin I had always dreamed of, and the scenery was amazing!
A great place for camping! It's crowded, lively, and easy to find a place to pitch a tent.
The scenery is very good. There are many bamboo forests on the road up the mountain after the rain.
The only way up and down the mountain is by car. The mountain was closed the second time. There are wind turbines on the mountain, which is a good place to see the snow scenery.
It is suitable for hiking, camping and barbecue gatherings on the top of the mountain. The scenery on the mountain is beautiful, and it is great to get up early to watch the sunrise.
The first place I went on a short road trip after owning a car in 2015
It's very close to Shanghai, and it only takes five hours to get there.
Still worth remembering
Kuocang Mountain is a favorite place for hiking
It takes about an hour to drive up from the foot of the mountain, and you can play more~~
But the view on the top of the mountain is really nice
I plan to go again during the Chinese New Year to see the stars and the sunrise and sunset.
Kuancang Mountain is considered the highest mountain in the area, and there are two main reasons to visit: stargazing and sunrise. I've been there five times this year. Bringing your barbecue (please be mindful of local hygiene) and gazing at the stars is truly relaxing. Of course, you need to choose good weather; the clear sky makes for a more beautiful stargazing experience. Note that temperatures can be quite low at night, given the altitude of over 1,300 meters. Summer or autumn is a good time to visit.
Taking advantage of my family's free time during October Golden Week, I rushed up the mountain overnight. This was my third trip to Kuancang Mountain. The first time was four years ago, when I saw a small red dot of the sun but no sea of clouds. The second time, I didn't do my homework and ended up encountering heavy fog, so I didn't see anything. This time, although I saw the sea of clouds, I still couldn't see the sun. I called for 60 minutes, maybe it was intentional to get me to come to Kuancang Mountain again.
We drove up, the mountain road was very winding, and there was heavy fog when we went there. We couldn't see anything during the day or at night. There were quite a lot of people camping, and we took a long time to choose a spot, but it was not bad. We planned to watch the sunrise the next day, but we didn't get up because we heard people outside say that they couldn't see it because there was still fog. We finally got up after six o'clock and went to the top of the mountain alone to take some photos. The scenery was pretty good. I was a little excited for my first time camping, and there were not many people there. 🙄 Share my selfie 🤳
Kuacang Mountain is the highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang. It is not recommended to drive to the top of the mountain for camping. There are many flat campsites below the top. On the side of the windmill for power generation, the campsites on the top of the mountain are basically occupied by locals. The sanitary environment is poor. If you drive to the top of the mountain, you will easily get stuck and unable to go up or down. It is not recommended to go up. You can just walk a few steps to watch the sunrise.
As a Linhai native, I wanted to share my experience of visiting Kuacang Mountain for the first time. Of course, I had no choice but to enjoy the scenery, the sunrise, and the stars. We decided to go up the mountain at midnight. We said we didn't have much gas left. After finally getting to the mountain, we had originally planned to sleep in the car, but we were attracted by the tents that were being set up to attract customers. After bargaining for a long time, we paid the money, but they changed their attitude and said, "This is my territory, I have the final say." I paid but didn't give me the quilt. I was instantly furious. After a quarrel, they compromised, but I was still unhappy. The price was too low, so they took the quilt away, which made me very unhappy.
If you encounter the sea of clouds, the scenery is very good. There are also many local game lovers, which is very good. However, the climate conditions on the mountain are relatively harsh, so don't be too demanding about accommodation.
It just so happened that the sky cleared up after the rain, and the clouds and mist were swirling, like a fairyland. Baidu Maps suggested that it would take 3 hours to climb the mountain, but in fact, 1 hour was enough.
The simple scenery is not as noisy as the general attractions, but this simple and quiet scenery is even more fascinating. The mountain road is suitable for cycling, and cycling can get closer to the mountain nature.
Most people go there for the sunrise and the sea of clouds. There is no entrance fee to Kuocang Mountain, but there are no public facilities on the top of the mountain. The few hotels are said to be in very poor condition, and most people camp in the open space. The mountain road from the mountain gate to the top is about 26 kilometers long. The road is narrow and winding, but the road condition is not bad. If the road is smooth and you have good driving skills, it takes about an hour to climb the mountain.
I'm a local and have been up there twice, once by car and once by myself. 1. Let's talk about transportation first: it's a 28-kilometer long mountain road, and I don't recommend hiking. You can choose to find a minivan at the foot of the mountain, which costs about 50 yuan per person, or look for a ride while walking (most of the drivers are locals).
2. Accommodation: There are hotels on the mountain (including four or five hotels along the mountain road and on the top of the mountain). You need to book a tent or cabin one or two days in advance, and the price is 200_300+. It is recommended to bring your own warm clothes. It is still very cold to watch the sunrise at night and in the early morning. Bring insect repellent in summer.
3. Food: There are restaurants in the mountain hotel, but the price is expensive, it costs dozens of dollars per meal, so it is recommended to bring your own...
Summary of the destination: All tourists who come to Kuancang Mountain are here to watch the sunrise, sunset, sea of clouds, barbecue and camp. Be sure to check the weather (luck is a factor). Please collect and take away the debris and garbage brought by the tour. After all, Kuancang Mountain is still a free tourist attraction and there is not so comprehensive environmental sanitation control. Please pay attention to personal safety on the mountain roads.
Kuancang Mountain is indeed very beautiful. Although I didn't see the starry sky this time, the weather was fine when I went up the mountain, and the ten-mile peach blossoms were very attractive. The sunrise and the sea of clouds in the morning were also very charming, and it is worth coming.
The scenic spots in Taizhou are very beautiful, and I visited every one of them.
Kuocang Mountain, located in Linhai, Taizhou, Zhejiang, reaches a peak of 1,382.4 meters above sea level, making it the highest peak in southern Zhejiang. Facing the sea to the southeast, it was here that the first light of dawn on the mainland of the 21st century appeared. The winds blow year-round, prompting the construction of wind farms and numerous large windmills on the summit.
With convenient transportation, you can drive or hike up to the summit. Many hikers and photography enthusiasts come here to watch the sunrise, sunset, clouds rise and fall, and the star-filled sky. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking! No entrance fee is required.
I want to go! Do I need to bring down jackets to set up 5-6 tents in the mountains?
Staying in a tent is a bit exciting, it's a bit cold if you wear more clothes, the scenery is beautiful
Kuancang Mountain is the place where the first light of dawn appeared a thousand years ago. It is the highest peak on the eastern coast. The top of the mountain has beautiful scenery, shrouded in clouds and mist, and there are also large areas of wind turbines. It is literary and fresh, and there is no lack of natural splendor.
Suitable for camping in the summer. There are too many people and too much garbage.
The starry sky is good. The left picture is a GoPro shot of Kuancang Mountain at dusk. The right picture was taken in Tekapo at dusk in South Island, New Zealand.
See the mountains and the sea
Watch the sunrise and sunset
Watch the morning glow and the evening glow
This time I watched the sunrise at Kuancang Mountain!
The scenery of Kuancang Mountain is great. Looking down from the main peak, Mishalang, you can feel that all the mountains are small. It is suitable for visiting all year round.
As a local for more than 20 years, it was my first time to watch the sunrise on Kuancang Mountain. It was so beautiful.
The road is quite convenient. When I went there, it was cloudy and I had given up hope of seeing a starry sky, sunrise, and sea of clouds. I never expected to see them all. The mountains are humid all year round, and you can't live without an electric blanket...
This is definitely a place worth visiting, but the supporting facilities are relatively poor. The scenery at the top of the mountain is beautiful. Winter is the best time to see the rime, but the weather can be quite cold. May and June are the best times to see the sea of clouds. The temperature difference between the top and the foot of the mountain is huge, and the temperature difference between day and night is also huge, so be sure to bring warm clothes.
Kuacang Peak, the highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang, is the site of the first rays of sunlight in mainland China in the 21st century. A Dawn Monument stands on its summit. It's an ideal spot for viewing the sunrise, the sea of clouds, and the city's nighttime cityscape. It's best to prepare all your necessary items for the trip, as temperatures can be quite low at the summit, so pack plenty of clothes. There's a hotel on the summit offering accommodation and meals, but the value is quite average. We recommend setting up your own tent and barbecuing (tent blankets and barbecue equipment are available for rent on the mountain). Kuacang Peak is very popular, and with so many people visiting, much of the grass is trampled, so bring your own trash bags to protect the environment. There are no public restrooms on the mountain! No public restrooms! No public restrooms! I can't stress this enough. If you prefer not to use the restrooms on the mountain, you can use the restrooms at the hotel for a fee of one yuan. (However, the restrooms are notoriously unhygienic.) Those staying in tents are advised to bring a flashlight. Finally, be sure to choose a day with good weather to visit!
Kuocang Mountain is quite nice
~~~~My friend and I hiked up the mountain~~~~We stayed halfway up the mountain in the middle of the night~~~~Super nice clouds and mist
Kuocang Mountain is located in Linhai, with an altitude of more than 1,000 meters. In winter, you can see snow on the top of the mountain. In summer, you can also set up tents on the top of the mountain, which is very interesting.
It is common knowledge that Kuocang Mountain is suitable for camping. I have been there twice, once by car and once on foot, at the first ray of dawn of the new millennium. It is a good place to watch the sunrise.
It takes one or two hours to climb up halfway up the mountain. It is not very difficult and the scenery is nice. The wind is strong on the top of the mountain, so if you want to sleep in a tent, you must bring one that can withstand minus 15 degrees Celsius.
If you're driving to Linhai, you should definitely include Kuacang Mountain. It's pristine, undeveloped, and sparsely populated. My driver said it was the place where the first rays of light of the 21st century illuminated the sky. My favorite part was the scenery on the way up the mountain. That morning, we went, and it took about 40 minutes to get from Linhai to the base of the mountain. The climb was slow, and the fog was thick, making it feel dangerous. It was thrilling, but the driver was knowledgeable, which was commendable. At the top, we could see numerous wind turbines, though the wind was quite strong. If there were a decent hotel on the mountain, I think it would be a great place to stay for two days to relax and unwind.
Very beautiful, suitable for a self-driving tour to play there for two or three days
I went there many years ago. The mountain was bare, with low vegetation coverage and very low temperatures. The only things you could see were the windmills that generated electricity. I heard that the photos taken there were very beautiful.
There is a windmill on the top of Kuocang Mountain, which is suitable for a group of friends to camp and watch the sunrise. The wind is a bit strong, and it is very cool at night even in summer.
Taizhou's highest peak is also the Millennium Dawn Memorial. It has wind power generation facilities.
Located in southwestern Linhai, at the foot of Kuacang Mountain and along the banks of Yong'an Creek, the Kuacang Scenic Area boasts a pleasant climate and stunning scenery. Kuacang Mountain, steep and steep, boasts a picturesque landscape shrouded in icy wilderness. Atop the mountain, China's fourth-largest wind farm, the staggered, rotating turbines blend beautifully with the vibrant natural landscape behind them, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Over thirty turbines whirr in the chill wind, resembling colorful dragonflies flitting across the water, reaching for the blue sky amidst the shimmering clouds and mist – a truly spectacular sight. Jiutai Valley, located on the southern peak of the main mountain, boasts unique natural scenery, earning it the nickname "Little Jiuzhaigou." At the foot of the mountain, ancient streets and houses linger, embodying a timeless charm. The scenery along the banks of Yong'an Creek is breathtakingly beautiful.
I went there in 2014 and the sunrise was very beautiful. The road up the mountain is very narrow, so please be careful when driving.
I've been there twice, both times camping. The first time I saw the breathtaking starry sky, and the second time I saw a beautiful sunrise. It was quite worth it.
There's a winding mountain road perfect for driving, but some hikers also climb up. Standing on the majestic summit, you'll want to shout out loud. Kuacang is a great place to visit in any season, but winter still offers beautiful snowy scenery, perfect for photographers. It's best to stay overnight in the mountains to watch the sunrise and sunset.
There are too many people and garbage everywhere. There is nothing we can do. Hi!!
The starry sky is really beautiful. We camped on the top of the mountain. Because it was our first time setting up a tent and we had no experience, the outer layer was lifted up in the middle of the night, and we accidentally saw the starry sky in the early morning. It was really impressive!
Kuancang Mountain seems to be a good place for watching the sunrise and camping. I went there during the day and the overall feeling was just average. The conditions there were quite simple and there was garbage everywhere. I suggest that people who go there take the garbage away and leave Kuancang Mountain quiet and beautiful.
A great place to shoot the Milky Way and starry sky at low altitudes!
You can drive directly to the top of the mountain, where you can enjoy a wide view and basically no light pollution.
Rent a tent to watch the sunrise. The scenery is beautiful. Remember not to litter.
The first time I went outdoors was at Kuancang Mountain. The scenery was beautiful, especially the windmill on the top of the mountain. Unfortunately, due to fog on the second morning, I didn’t see the sunrise.
The sunrise is beautiful, but the accommodation service is a bit lacking. I heard that it is very crowded on weekends. The sunrise with the sea of clouds will be even more beautiful.
It is the highest peak in Taizhou. It was foggy when I went there, so I couldn’t see the view from the top of the mountain. However, the scenery along the way was nice.
The snow scenery of Kuancang Mountain is very beautiful, and many people go camping on weekends. It is a good place for a short trip.
The first rays of dawn in the 21st century illuminate the area. It's truly stunning, with a sea of clouds, waterfalls of clouds, white windmills in the distance, and a stunning blue sky. Camping in the mountains in the summer also offers a breathtaking view of the vast starry sky, almost as if the Milky Way is within reach.
I've been there three times: once to see the sunrise, once to see the sea of clouds, and once because of the heavy fog. Overall, it's a great experience, but parking is becoming more difficult as the number of people going increases. I recommend checking the weather before you go, and also bringing your own tent, as renting one is quite expensive. It's very cold on the mountain, so bring plenty of clothes.
I went to Kuancang Mountain last year. The winding road was very narrow and the temperature difference between the foot of the mountain and the top of the mountain was very large. I drove there for two days and saw the sunrise, sunset, and sea of clouds, which all captured my eyes.
You have to rely on your luck to see the sea of clouds, but in winter, the icicles and rime are amazing!
You can drive directly to the top of the mountain, but many people also hike up there, especially the sea of clouds windmills, which are particularly spectacular!
The Kuancang Mountains are located in the south-central part of eastern Zhejiang, with Yandang Mountain in the south, Tiantai Mountain in the north, Xiandu Mountain in the west and the sea in the east. It is located between Lishui, Qingtian, Jinyun, Xianju, Yongjia, Linhai and Huangyan counties. It is the watershed between the Lingjiang River system and the Oujiang River system. The main peak, Mishailaang, is 1,382.6 meters above sea level, the highest peak in southeastern Zhejiang and the first place where the first ray of sunlight shone on mainland China in the 21st century.
Kuocang Mountain is home to the Kuocang Mountain Wind Farm, one of China's four largest wind farms. Its strategically arranged turbines complement the vibrant natural landscape, creating a spectacular and vibrant scene. The nearby Jiutai Valley boasts a breathtaking beauty, with sheer cliffs, towering peaks, cascading waterfalls, and deep, clear streams. The scenery rivals that of Huihang, and Jiutai Valley itself is comparable to Shimentai in the Daruoyan Scenic Area of the Nanxi River. Cascading waterfalls, grotesque rocks, and whispering pines adorn the landscape, while the vegetation is rich, with typical subtropical plants lushly green, occasionally vibrant red, sometimes tinted golden and sometimes purple under the influence of light. Atop Kuocang Mountain lies the Kuocang Mountain Wind Farm, one of China's four largest wind farms. It is renowned for being the highest wind farm in the world at a relative altitude.
Kuancang Mountain is undeveloped, so there's no entrance fee. However, this also presents a problem: there's no bus service up the mountain! From Zhangjiadu to the summit, it's nearly 30 kilometers, leaving two options: driving or chartering a car. While on the bus, my friend and I agreed to charter a car up the mountain together, and then hike down to Huangshitan Village the next day and back to Zhangjiadu. The one-way trip cost 130 yuan, which we split, saving a lot of money. On the bus, I agreed to call the driver the next day after we'd returned from the mountain, and he'd pick us up at Huangshitan Village (80 yuan). My apologies to the driver, as I caught a ride with a new friend I met on the way down, so I didn't call him later. To make amends, here's an ad for the driver: his phone number is 15868601762. He originally asked for 150 yuan, but I managed to bargain him down to 130 yuan, which is the usual price for mountain hikes. This shows how honest he is and how skilled he is. Feel free to call him if you need help.
It's worth a visit, it's more lively when there are more people.
Fortunately, not only does Kuancang Mountain not require a ticket, but cars can also drive directly to the top of the mountain.
The sunrise was beautiful. Even in late autumn, the nights were still very cold. Camping in the mountains and going up the mountain at 10 o'clock in the middle of the night was a bit scary, but after seeing the sunrise, it was worth it.
Kuocang Mountain is home to one of China's four largest wind farms, the Kuocang Mountain Wind Farm. It is a great place to escape the summer heat and enjoy the sunrise and sunset.
The highest mountain in eastern Zhejiang, there are a large number of wind turbines on the mountain. Whether viewed from a distance or up close, it is majestic and spectacular.
The only consolation on the mountain road was the scenery along the way. Even the little one couldn't help but exclaim "Wow!"... Unfortunately, we only carefully stopped once to take a photo before rushing off, fearing we'd be stuck in traffic. Once we reached the top of the mountain, the scenery was truly breathtaking. For those of us who haven't been to Tibet or Sichuan and haven't seen many mountains and rivers, this view was already breathtaking. The sunset... It was indescribably beautiful... Although there were many clouds, we didn't see the sun set completely this time, but the sunset glow was still beautiful...
It takes about half an hour to drive from Linhai to the foot of Kuacang Mountain. Then it's nearly an hour to drive up the winding mountain road. The road is quite narrow, barely enough for two cars to pass, so beginners are advised to drive slowly (some say it takes 40 minutes to get up the mountain. Is my driving skill level too poor? After all, I have 7 years of driving experience, so safety is the most important thing!).
It took Ajin, Ahua, and Da Xia a whole day to climb to the top of the mountain. We didn't book a hotel in advance, but we were lucky enough to find an empty room. We got up early the next morning to watch the sunrise together. I have no memory of how we got down the mountain.
It's very beautiful. There is a hotel on the top of the mountain. The environment is average. The humidity inside the hotel is heavy. There are not many people there.
Needless to say, just go for the first light, for the sunrise, for the windmills, for the beautiful scenery, and for camping.
The Kuancang Mountains are located in the south-central part of eastern Zhejiang, with Yandang Mountain in the south, Tiantai Mountain in the north, Xiandu Mountain in the west, and the sea in the east. It is located between Lishui, Qingtian, Jinyun, Xianju, Yongjia, Linhai, and Huangyan counties (cities, districts). Kuancang Mountain is one of Zhejiang's famous mountains. Historical records indicate that ascending the mountain reveals a vast expanse of water, giving it the name Kuancang. Historically, Kuancang Mountain has also been known as Zhenyin Mountain, Tianbi Mountain, Cangshan Mountain, and Fengche Mountain. Kuancang Mountain, with its vastness, steepness, and unique beauty, has attracted numerous Taoists.
