Ming and Qing Palaces

明清宫苑

The Ming and Qing Palaces are one of the most classic scenic spots in Hengdian World Studios. They are built on a 1:1 scale based on the Forbidden City and are also the largest film and television shooting base in Hengdian.
The interior includes four major architectural series: the capital palace, the royal garden, the royal government, and the hutong houses, with landscapes such as the chessboard street, the thousand-step corridor, and the civil and military platforms.
This is also the filming location for many film and television works such as "The Unparalleled", "Curse of the Golden Flower" and "The Deer and the Cauldron". Basically, there are crews shooting here every day.
There are several performances at fixed times every day in the Ming and Qing Palace. Please check the performance board at the entrance to avoid missing the performance time.

This year's Story of Yanxi Palace and Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace, as well as previous years' Legend of Zhen Huan, have made the filming locations, the Ming and Qing Palaces, even more popular. On both sides of the road are stills from Story of Yanxi Palace on one side and Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace on the other.

There were performances in the scenic area. As soon as I came in, I saw a puppy. He seemed to be a stray from the palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. He was wandering in front of a stall selling delicious food. I fed him the sausage in my hand, and he followed me excitedly all the way. Hahaha, it was really fun.

I prefer the Qing Dynasty, maybe because I've watched too many movies and TV series. I liked the Forbidden City in Beijing before, but there are so many people in the Forbidden City. There are so many here. We came in the afternoon and there were even fewer people. We liked it very much. The original plan was to rent a set of clothes here, put a bun on, and walk around. However, because we were watching a performance and didn't come early, time was tight, so we quickly found a clothing rental store. After bargaining, it was 100 yuan for clothes and bun, and we just had to return it before closing time. Because of time, we didn't go to other stores. The clothes in the store seemed to be one size, and they were all quite big. In the end, we chose a small white set, which was still very big.

It feels so good to walk around in this dress, as if I'm back in the Qing Dynasty, walking in the huge Forbidden City, and checking in at several important palaces, such as the Qianqing Palace, Changchun Palace, Yiku Palace, Yanxi Palace, Imperial Garden, etc. Although time was tight, I still realized my dream of visiting the Qing Palace.

Remember, the palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties should be visited from left to right to avoid missing out on the highlights. If you have watched "Story of Yanxi Palace", you can really find many filming locations here.

The Palaces of Ming and Qing Dynasties are a 1:0.9 replica of the "Forbidden City" template. They refer to the palace architectural techniques of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and use the unique construction methods of the film and television city to imitate the rituals of the Tang, Song, Yuan and other periods, and incorporate the architectural style of the Republic of China. They bring together four major architectural series, including the palaces of the capital, royal gardens, royal government offices, and alley houses, and truly reproduce the official residences, street shops and palace styles of Yanjing in many historical periods. It has many historical landscapes such as Qipan Street, Chengtianmen Square, Qianbu Corridor, Wenwu Terrace, Jinshui River, Yudai Bridge, etc., magnificent imperial palaces, natural gardens and lakes, magnificent dragon and phoenix eaves, and magnificent palace squares. Since the opening of the Palaces of Ming and Qing Dynasties, it has attracted crews from all over the country with its cultural connotations.

There is a film crew filming on the left side for a long time. I accidentally ran into the crew's prop car, where they were filming a costume drama. It is really easy to run into the crew and stars in Hengdian. However, tourists are generally not allowed to enter the filming area at will, but you can look around at the door. However, if you enter the palace from the middle door, you will miss many wonderful things around it.

When you enter the Ming and Qing Palaces, you can immediately see a private project: hot air balloons, 50 yuan per time. The Ming and Qing Palaces are very suitable for filming blockbusters.

And there are clear signs along the way to take you to the palace where the queen lives, the palace where the emperor lives, and various paper celebrity characters suddenly appear in front of you.

There are four performances in the Ming and Qing Palaces, divided into two performances in the morning and afternoon.

The main buildings of the Ming and Qing Palaces include the Hall of Supreme Harmony, Qianqing Gate Square, Qianqing Palace, Kunning Palace, Shufangzhai, Chengtian Gate, Wumen Gate, Yangxin Hall, Military Council, and the Six Palaces of Xilu, as well as historical landscapes such as the Imperial Road, Wenwu Terrace, Jinshui River, and Yudai Bridge. Its magnificent imperial palaces, natural gardens and lakes, magnificent dragon and phoenix eaves, and magnificent palace squares have become a good place for tourists to explore the deep palace, visit ancient sites, and appreciate the thousand-year-old capital. Although it is a "clone", its momentum is just as magnificent.

To the right of the Ming and Qing Palaces are the houses, the market area, and the homes of the royal family and nobles outside the city gate. It is really just separated by a wall. Every time I watch a TV series, I feel that the shooting area is far away once the city is out, but in the end, the scenes inside and outside the palace are shot in one place at once.

The Ming and Qing Palaces are really huge. I entered at 9:30 am and came out at 1:30 pm. I walked on foot, but 2-4 people can choose to ride bicycles. Scan the code to pay.

In fact, I think the palaces of the Ming and Qing dynasties and the Qin Palace are very suitable for shooting period films. Hengdian World Studios also allows online reservation of costumes, the number and style of photos to be taken, and there are artistic photos that can satisfy one person, artistic photos that can satisfy family parent-child travel, and group photos. Of course, you can also bring your own ancient costumes to shoot your own films in minutes.

Sometimes I have to admire the aesthetics and traditions of the ancients. It is indeed something to be proud of.

What is national is also global.

The Ming and Qing Palaces are very large and suitable for a leisurely stroll. Many palace dramas were filmed here, and you can find many shadows of the dramas. The reception capacity is great during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday.

By Osmanthus wine |

It has a majestic and royal style, but unfortunately there are not many trees that get much sun!

By Dry Skiing |

The "Eight Banners Circus" performance in the Ming and Qing Palaces is very exciting. Visitors can go down to ride horses for 100 yuan each time.

By Emily |

The Ming and Qing Palaces are very large and very similar to the real Forbidden City. It is worth a visit.

The decisive battle on the top of the Forbidden City, take a picture of the decisive battle on the top of the Forbidden City~

By Shanshan |

It was built in imitation of the Forbidden City, and many Qing Dynasty dramas were filmed here.

Lots of performances, but no place to eat.

By qingniaobaby |

It is a suitable place for taking photos and also a place visited by TV drama fans. The main road is crowded with people, while the side halls on both sides are sparsely populated. If you are afraid of crowds, it is best to walk on the side.

By Listen |

Maybe I was too influenced by the Forbidden City in Beijing so I wasn’t very interested in this one in Hengdian. I only visited the Hall of Supreme Harmony but didn’t go inside.

By Love you sc |

The main reason is that too many TV dramas were filmed here. Dongyang people are really amazing. They have no natural scenery and no other advantages, but they have built China's Hengdian through their own efforts. Occasionally you can see people filming here, and they will be called out for their help! Haha

By Find a better self |

This is my second time visiting Hengdian. It is modeled after the Forbidden City and contains many palace drama scenes.

By Ada Yang |

We took a Didi taxi to the Ming and Qing Palaces, which was very convenient~~

It's only 8 yuan to go to Qingming Dahe Tu, which is very cheap~~

The final destination is below~~ and you still have to climb such high steps~

This place is really big, it's worth renting a car, each palace has a car hole!

I passed by, but I didn't go because I live in Beijing. I recommend it to friends who are too far from Beijing.

To be honest, you won't see stars in Hengdian. There are extras. Find a sunny day and rent a two-seater car to visit the Ming and Qing Palace. It's very big and walking is really tiring. The ticket price is a bit expensive. There are many scalpers on the road, and it seems to be 136 per ticket. There are stage performances and palace shows.

By Su Mi |

There weren't many people when I went there, probably because it wasn't a holiday. It was still tiring to walk around.

By The azure sky is bottomless |

The Ming and Qing Palaces are very large, so I suggest you rent a small car. I walked quite fast, but I still didn't see the whole place after 4 hours. I was lucky to meet the crew filming.

By Agate Hometown |

The "Forbidden City Ceremony" performed in the scenic area is very good, but I personally prefer the "Eight Banners Horse Fighting" with its superb horsemanship and thrilling horse fighting. On the left hand side of the scenic area are the old Beijing hutong houses. There is also a "Man Han Banquet Hall" that only has text introductions and pictures on the wall, and also sells specialties. The scenic area is quite large and I walked slowly for 8 hours throughout the whole journey, and I was not tired at all.

Ming and Qing Palaces There is no particularly strong visual impact here. It may be because I have been to the Forbidden City. However, it is a project built for the opportunity of film and television based on the almost one-to-one reproduction of the Forbidden City Palace! It is still quite shocking! There are many crews shooting movies inside! I saw the anti-Japanese war and the Qing Palace drama in the Republic of China. It is really fun. It may be the first time to see the crew shooting at close range. It feels very fresh! A shot requires a lot of manpower, material resources and time to prepare from the early preparation to the shooting! In order to shoot a shot that the audience may not remember when watching it, it takes a lot of time and energy to shoot. The weather in Hengdian in December is already below 10 degrees. It is not easy for the actors to wear thin summer props and costumes when shooting. Here I pay tribute to the film workers! Salute to the big guys who built the film and television city! The performances here are also very good. The actors repeat back and forth every day, and they are very serious and hard-working! Not easy!!

By alawis |

The main road has many palaces. I suggest you go to the side halls. There are the Republic of China District Yamen, Prince's Mansion, Princess's Mansion, Imperial Garden, Keyuan, etc. I saw the Imperial Garden in "Empresses in the Palace", Shenxingsi, including some palaces and corridors. It was quite impressive. I ran into the crew by chance, but they didn't let me watch.

By Rain and wind |

To be honest, although I have been to many places in China, I have never had the opportunity to visit the Forbidden City. The Ming and Qing Palaces are indeed a nice place. Although they cannot be compared with the Forbidden City in terms of details, they are royal buildings after all, and they embody the wisdom of ancient craftsmen. So I think it is not easy for the Ming and Qing Palaces to achieve this. It is very suitable for macro appreciation without having to care about the details.

By easy |

The replica of the Forbidden City has great scenery and is very suitable for taking photos. I rented a set of clothes for my wife to fulfill her dream of being a palace maid! The performances inside were also good, but I didn't encounter any crew!

By Feifei who loves jumping |

I went to a fake Hengdian and didn't see any stars

By Yang Chenfu |

It feels like I have arrived at the Palace Museum. The Hengdian Ming and Qing Palaces are a 1:1 replica of a film and television base. It is really shocking.

By F Woof Woof |

To be honest, I can't look closely. The floor and walls are seriously damaged.

By Han Yu 79 |

The Ming and Qing Palaces were started in 1998 and completed in 2006. They were built in a 1:1 ratio to the Forbidden City in Beijing. They are the pinnacle of the Hengdian World Studios city-building movement.

This magnificent, solemn, gorgeous and majestic ancient city, I heard the words "One thought at a glance, one thought of persistence, destined to fly into the fire, knowing that it is a disaster, why do you still not know what to do..." I was immersed in this scene. My inner world is no longer as calm as when I came. Those pictures slowly appeared in front of me, and I felt full of emotion, full of touch, and full of sadness... Not a trace of sadness, but every word is lingering, every step is sad. All of this comes from a time-travel legend that makes people unable to stop - "Startling by Each Step".

By Cathy |

It's very big inside and feels similar to the one in Beijing.

By Life is like a dream |

Being here, I definitely feel like I’m traveling back in time. I hope I’ll have the chance to visit the Qin Palace next time.

By dai_er |

I have seen the Forbidden City, so the scenery does not attract me, but the scenic area's grand drama "The Forbidden City Ceremony" and the live performance of the Eight Banners War Horses are still worth seeing.

By cindy |

Friends who like palace fighting dramas and time-travel dramas must visit this place. There are magnificent imperial palaces, magnificent dragon and phoenix eaves, and magnificent palace squares. You can also wear ancient costumes to experience the feeling of being a palace queen.

By Sisi CHEN |

Great, great, there's nothing fun to do there. Just take some photos. The room is empty. The secret scenes in the Qing Palace are just so-so. I personally don't recommend them. Everything else is OK.

By Back |

The exterior is a one-to-one replica of the Forbidden City, but there are far fewer people than in the Forbidden City. If you don't want to see the exhibits and just take pictures, there is no need to go to Beijing.

This time we went to Hengdian World Studios Ming and Qing Garden to shoot a micro-film. What is a micro-film? Wu Xiao, deputy general manager of Hengdian World Studios Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street scenic area, told reporters that Hengdian has shot micro-films for more than 500 groups of tourists so far.

"The Star Dream Factory was launched to allow more tourists who come to Hengdian to experience the joy of film and television tourism." Wu Xiao said that tourists can put on costumes and shoot their own micro-film in at least two or three hours. In addition to the many scenes to choose from, Hengdian also provides tourists with a professional team that is no less than that of a film and television crew, including six departments: director, camera, costume, makeup, editing, and logistics. "As long as you come, you can do it."

It costs 1,500 to 6,000 yuan to make a micro film

It takes about 8 hours to make a 20-minute micro-film. If the acting is good, it may take less time.

The best number of people is 10 to 40, so that the shooting effect will be better. Of course, if someone likes love stories, two people can also make a micro movie or MTV.

As the beginning of our dream of becoming a star, we filmed "New Flirting Scholar". We came to the "Ming and Qing Palace" in Hengdian World Studios with excitement. The director arranged roles for us. You can't say that the director's roles were really "skillful in identifying pearls". Everyone was very satisfied with the roles they were going to play. We went to the cast list and carefully signed our names. When the time comes, our names will appear in the micro-film. We are so excited.

Then the stage manager arranged for us to change our costumes. The moment we put on our costumes, we laughed continuously. We all looked like "talented men and beautiful women". After we changed our clothes, the makeup artist dressed us up. They didn't put on our clothes, but took care of our hair accessories. I played the role of "Mrs. Hua". My hair couldn't be compared with the four fragrant girls in "Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter". They were maids' hair accessories, which were cute and naughty. I just put my hair up and put flowers in it, which was more old-fashioned. However, the "Mrs. Hua" I played was still more "graceful and elegant", and the temperament was revealed.

It was quite fun to shoot. The director would assign each of them a line, which would not be too long. When it was your turn to speak, the cameraman would find you to give the camera. You just had to speak to the person you were acting with. In the first scene, Mrs. Hua led Sixiang and Ruhua to the back garden to enjoy the flowers. They were secretly watched by Tang Bohu and other four talented people behind the rockery. The first shot was passed in one take. It was great. Although everyone was a little nervous and their hands were shaking, it was still quite enjoyable. As time went on, everyone relaxed more and more, so the shooting went smoothly. It was just that the lines that were longer had to be shot two or three times. Everyone was very into the play, and it was quite hard to shoot for three hours. I look forward to our micro-film with more refined editing and complete subtitles presented to us. For this experience, I would like to thank the director and cameraman who served us. It was your patient work that allowed us to experience a different Hengdian World Studios.

The equestrian show was amazing. The Eight Banners of the Manchus of the Qing Dynasty appeared on the battlefield. The ancient momentum was worth seeing.

It is very spectacular. As soon as you walk in, you can feel the majestic atmosphere, as if you are in it, and feel the magnificence of the palace in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. You can feel a familiar feeling when you walk around, as if you have seen it somewhere before. It is very large inside. You can rent bicycles at the door. You can ride with three or five friends and quietly feel this pleasant atmosphere. There are also performances inside. Due to time constraints, we watched "Eight Banners Horse Fight". If you are not afraid of the smell, you can insist on watching it. The performance is quite good. ——July 10, 2016

It's very big and grand, it's best to rent a bicycle! I did encounter many crews filming, you can watch, some places will be closed. If you are curious about filming, you can really open your eyes here! You can also chat with the extras filming, they are very enthusiastic~

The film and television base and antique buildings are worth a visit even though they were built later.

It is different from the Forbidden City in Beijing. It is very big, but if there is no filming, there is nothing to see and every room is empty.

By Summer |

Because I have been to Beijing and have some knowledge of Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture, I always feel that the architecture in Hengdian is a bit stingy.

By Erguotou in the book |

It is said to be a miniature version of the Forbidden City in Beijing, but with the mountains behind it, it is much more spectacular. It was raining when I went there, so it didn't look so good.

By Baibai~Yeah~ |

First of all, I think the ticket is a bit expensive. There are only two places to eat around, with few choices and they are very expensive. I bought a hand-grabbed pancake for 15 yuan, and only added a hot dog, which was very unsatisfactory. It is indeed quite large inside, but it is completely empty, because everything belongs to the crew. If there is no crew filming, there is no decoration. Many places where there are filming are not allowed to enter. I personally feel that after watching this place, I will think of this scene when watching all the costume dramas. I am very glad that I came here after watching "The Journey of Flower".

It's pretty good... It's a one-to-one replica of the Forbidden City, very spectacular

By Clear Mind |

I went to Hengdian on the first day of the Chinese New Year in 2014. The most vivid memory was that there were so many people and it was raining. This trip was a last-minute decision, so I didn't check the weather. In general, it was just so-so. The rainy weather somewhat discounted the trip. The scenic spot is very large. I suggest renting a bicycle so that you can walk around slowly. There are food for sale everywhere, so you won't be hungry even if you are tired. But I won't say much about the taste. Hehe, it looks quite spectacular from the outside, but I was a little disappointed after entering because it was Chinese New Year, so there was no crew there, and there were so many people, so there was no feeling of time travel. The houses were empty and the hygiene was not very good. I guess the hygiene of the streets is rarely managed, and there was no sense of reality. It takes a long line to take pictures, and it is basically the elderly who take pictures with their children. We didn't take pictures because of the weather. We came here in a hurry and returned. When the weather is good, you can calculate the time to watch the performance, which is still good, but you must remember the performance time.

By No Flowers in the World |

I went there during the Chinese New Year. There were so many people. There were several performances inside. Unfortunately, I went with a tour group and didn't have enough time. I only watched the Forbidden City Ceremony. It felt pretty good. The architecture inside was imitating the Forbidden City and it was pretty good.

By Daydream Girl |

It is a must-see attraction if you go to Hengdian, but not necessary if you have been to the Forbidden City.

By Iris |

The building area is very large. Because it was raining, we only visited a part of it. I suggest you choose a day with fewer people to visit the building so that you can take pictures more easily.

By sunny |

The area ratio is the same as that of the Forbidden City, which is amazing! It is worth seeing!

By Wu Doudou |

I went there three years ago and happened to see Feng Shaofeng filming the Prince of Lanling. It brought back so many memories.

By Doctor |

Choosing a travel date is very important. There were so many crowds of people that I thought I would gain a lot if I went on a non-weekend basis. It so happened that the elementary school students' activities perfectly matched my route. I took a lazy rest on Guangzhou Street and Hong Kong Street to avoid the crowded crowds.

Follow the city wall to the Ming and Qing Palaces. Guess the one I just entered? The scene you see will definitely put you in a bad mood. There are groups of children, but they have already returned.

A large number of primary school students left, and now there are only a few people walking in the Ming and Qing Palaces, showing their majesty.

You feel like you are alone, in a city, and you can be cool.

By Peng Xiaxia |

I went to Hengdian in June this year when my best friend forced me to go there.

Of course, if you go to Zhejiang, you must go to Hengdian Film and Television City.

The Palaces of Ming and Qing Dynasties is one of the six classic scenic spots in Hengdian World Studios, China's Hollywood

We took a bus from Jiangdong Bus Station for 15 RMB, which was very cheap and fast.

The main buildings of the Ming and Qing Palaces include the Hall of Supreme Harmony, Qianqing Gate Square, Qianqing Palace, Kunning Palace, Shufangzhai, Chengtian Gate, Wumen, Yangxin Hall, Military Affairs Office, and the Six Palaces of Xilu.

There are many performances in the scenic area, such as

The classic plot of the Eight Banners Horse Fight, the solemn royal majesty, the superb horsemanship and the thrilling horse fights are very satisfying to watch.

The humorous performances of the secret plays of the Qing Palace, the most realistic and intuitive visual effects, and the thrilling stunts make you feel like you are peeping into the magical and charming world of movies.

Ming and Qing Palaces is 130 yuan per person. It seems that student ID cards cannot be used there.

Scenic area opening hours: 8:00 to 16:30

The only thing I want to complain about is that the food here is too expensive. A bowl of noodles costs 30 yuan.

So I remind everyone to bring enough dry food.

If you are lucky enough, you can also run into a celebrity crew. When we went there, we ran into a crew called "Mei Ren Xiang".

It's really big. If you want to explore it carefully, you may need a whole morning. We planned to visit Ming and Qing Palace and Guangxiang Street in the morning, so we just walked around here and left. This is the largest scenic spot among the several scenic spots.

Unlike the 1:1 replica of the Forbidden City in Beijing, many small items here are made of very cheap materials. They look fine from a distance, but they are exposed when touched. However, the photos are not affected at all. On the map, there is a place marked as a filming area in Mingqing Garden, but it is okay to go there if there is no filming crew. This is the place where our Hu Ge version of The Legend of the Condor Heroes was filmed. Great!

I went there in 2013. There were a lot of people. We went to Jinhua first and then took a bus to Hengdian. There were many hotel and scenic spot packages on the bus, which were cheaper than online booking. We regretted booking online. Ming and Qing Palace Garden was OK. Anyway, it was like that. We ran into the crew of the film "The Sharpshooter". It is necessary to do a good job of sun protection in summer.

The Ming and Qing Palace is the largest tourist attraction in Hengdian, and the entire building is a replica of the Forbidden City.

It really feels huge when you walk around. If you want to visit every point, it will take a whole day.

If you are lucky, you may see celebrities filming inside, but it is usually cordoned off and you are not allowed to see.

This is a new classic in Hengdian. China-TravelNote has not marked it yet. I am in a hurry to upload it. This is called Yuanming New Garden! The performance is very good~~~~

The scenery is beautiful. But the tourist guide needs to be improved. The signboards are not very clear.

Although it doesn't mean much, I know it after I go there.

It's just average. It doesn't have the grandeur and magnificence that is shown on TV. It feels like tour groups have just visited here, which is quite disappointing. I didn't go into other attractions, I just looked at them from the entrance, which was enough.

The first thing that came to my mind the next day when I arrived at the Qing Palace was the vivid memory of "Empresses in the Palace of the Qing Dynasty". It was very grand, with red walls, golden tiles and bluestone pavement, giving me a unique feeling of being there.

The Ming and Qing Palace is still worth a visit, the scenery is nice. It can't be compared with the Beijing Imperial Palace! Filming is common, and it is almost impossible to be too sad to see the stars. Finally, bring some food with you, the surrounding restaurants are expensive!

It's okay to take a leisurely stroll, just to experience the 1:1 Forbidden City. It's really not easy for ancient people to leave the palace...
