In fact, before I decided to come to Hangzhou, I didn't know what the Xiling Seal Society was. It does sound like a printing factory... but in my vague impression, it seems to be a society or a research institute. When I was catching up on knowledge about Jiangnan before coming to Hangzhou, I finally understood that the Xiling Seal Society is not only an academic group, but also a business organization and a garden scenic spot. Its core is "seal" - seal makers, seals and seal studies.

The name sounds quite literary. It is a place for seal carving research with a history of over a hundred years.

The park is closed for renovation. It will reopen after July 15.

In June 2015, I took a course called "Seal Carving" in the second semester of my postgraduate study. When I was learning seal script, I copied Wu Changshuo. This time I came to Hangzhou and saw Wu Changshuo's original works. I also visited the Xiling Seal Society where he was the first president. I was completely inspired (psychologically)! It is located right by the West Lake, with a quiet environment. Generally speaking, it is a small hill with water and many trees, which is especially suitable for sitting quietly alone. Anyway, it would be great if it was my yard~! By the way, there is also a "Xiling Seal Society" (store) inside, which sells seal materials and already carved seals. It is special and expensive, so I'd better go home and carve it myself~

At that time, I followed the team to visit the Xiling Seal Society. I felt that it was really comfortable to work in this place. The trees were lush and green, and the West Lake was across the street. It was nice.

This is a place I know purely because of the Tomb Robbers' Chronicles. I went all the way along the Baidi Causeway. The entrance is inconspicuous, but it has a unique flavor after entering! There is Gushan and Qing Dynasty ruins behind it, which are still worth a look!
