厦门海底世界它拥有来自世界各大洲，各大洋的海水淡水鱼类350多种一万多尾。厦门海底世界坐落在鼓浪屿东岸黄家渡，原为鼓浪屿公园，紧靠轮渡码头。坐落在鼓浪屿轮渡码头西面原鼓浪公园。

这座花坛簇拥的海蓝色水晶宫建筑，第一期工程先后建成了海洋馆、企鹅和淡水鱼馆。其入口处在主体建筑外60米地方有一个设计独特、别具一格、张牙舞爪的章鱼雕，高6米、跨径11.2米。它是厦门海底世界的标志性建筑，也是游客们首先拍照留念的景观。

厦门海底世界设施新颖，有现代化的设备，而最突出的设施是海底隧道。海底隧道长80米，宽1.5米，进入海底隧道，站在电动代步道上，可以看到两侧的凹形大鱼池。旅客不需潜水也能"进入海底世界"与鱼共游，看到四面八方和上下前后鱼的世界，川流不息的鱼群近在咫尺，擦肩而过，露着锋利牙齿的凶猛的鲨鱼扑面而来，自由自在的慢吞吞的巨大 鱼从头顶飘然而过……

海洋馆

主要是热带、亚热带独特鱼类，它们来自世界各地的海洋，这里有大小鱼池20个，总水体约4000吨，以海洋生物为主体，主要有巨鲨、巨鱼工、巨型石斑、珊瑚礁鱼类、巨型苏眉、医生鱼、海龙、海马、食人蟹、澳大利亚锦龙虾、棘皮动物杰出代表-海星、八爪鱼、石头鱼、河豚及狮子鱼、海龟等。

企鹅淡水鱼馆

厦门海底世界有两种企鹅，即洪氏环企鹅及斑嘴环企鹅，它们原产于秘鲁。企鹅是鸟却不会飞，因翅膀退化，但善于游泳，以南极磷虾、乌贼及小鱼为食。性喜欢群居，少则几百上千，多则10-20万只聚集的盛况，厦门海底世界开辟的企鹅馆，在国内还是首例。

抹香鲸标本馆

2000年3月11日在厦门海域出现死亡的一只抹香鲸，乃迄今国内最大的抹香鲸个体，全长18.6米，重46吨。厦门海底世界按国家有关规定和程序接收了这只巨大的鲸鱼，并制作成皮和骨架两付标本。
