祖庙东华里片区改造始于2008年,在佛山市、禅城区两级政府的支持和整体策划下,香港瑞安房地产发展有限公司2008年2月28日启动了“佛山岭南天地”工程。祖庙东华里整个古建筑群以“修旧如旧”的方式进行修葺、利用,同时运用现代手法,把整个片区打造成集文化、旅游、居住、商业为一体的综合街区。
