阿育王寺位于宁波五乡镇宝幢太白山麓华顶峰下，始建于西晋，号称六殊胜八吉样地，排名一直在天下禅宗五山之中，是中国现存唯一以阿育王命名的千年古刹。

寺内珍藏着座名闻天下的佛祖舍利宝塔。寺内有全省仅存的两座元塔，和唐、宋、明、清、民国及现代碑刻，其中以《阿育王寺常住田碑》、《宸奎阁碑记》和《妙喜泉铭》最为珍贵。
