Sugarloaf Mountain, a famous tourist attraction in Brazil, gets its name from its resemblance to a loaf of French bread. Located at the entrance to Guanabara Bay, it is a symbol of Rio de Janeiro. Standing 396 meters tall, Sugarloaf Mountain offers panoramic views of Rio from its summit. Neighboring Sugarloaf Mountain are two lower peaks, Cerro de los Muertos and Cerro Urca, both 215 meters high. Rio de Janeiro was founded between these two peaks in 1565, and the ancient São João Castle, which once defended the city, can still be seen at the foot of the mountain.

To ascend and descend the mountain, visitors can take the bubble-shaped cable car, which seats 75 and offers 360-degree panoramic views. Two cable cars depart simultaneously from the top and bottom of the mountain, each departing every half hour from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Tickets are purchased at the cable car's departure station, Red Beach.
