Located in the northeastern corner of Quanzhou's urban area, Quanzhou's East Lake Park is home to the famous Lizhu, also known as the "Carp City," and the remains of "Xinghu Lotus Fragrance," one of ancient Quanzhou's ten scenic spots. During the Tang Dynasty, the lake encompassed over 4,000 mu (approximately 1,000 acres) and housed the Ergong Pavilion and the East Lake Pavilion. The Bonen Pavilion was added in the Song Dynasty, and the Langu Pavilion was constructed in the Ming Dynasty. The park is renowned for the frequent visits of Tang Dynasty Prime Minister Jiang Gongfu and renowned figures such as Ouyang Zhan.
With the central lake as the core, the main cultural landscapes are built around the lake: "Xinghu Lotus Fragrance" (the central axis) and "Qifeng Pavilion" (the highest point). The "Seven Stars Arching the Moon," "Ergong Pavilion," "Donghu Pavilion," "Langu Pavilion," and "Boen Pavilion" are also built to form elegant rest areas for the quiet zone. In addition, a children's playground, a cruise ship pier, and "Shuangzhou Chaoyang" are built to form entertainment and service areas for the "bustling" zone. At the same time, 16 plant landscapes have been created based on the cultural landscapes of various scenic spots, including "Hundred Carp Square," "Stone Spring Pine Screen," "Xinghu Lawn," "Friendship Fragrant Forest," "Hundred Fruits Autumn Garden," and "Lotus Fragrance."
