Huangchao Mountain, located southwest of Dongtian Town in Nan'an City, stands at an altitude of 1,095 meters. Named after Huang Chao, leader of the peasant uprising at the end of the Tang Dynasty, who stationed his troops there, it is now a renowned natural scenic spot. The scenic area boasts rugged terrain, jagged peaks, towering rocks, and stunning scenery. Among outdoor enthusiasts, it is known as "Southern Fujian's Most Beautiful Canyon" and "Southern Fujian's Zhangjiajie."
At the foot of Huangchao Mountain are Shanxi Village and Shanmei Village in Nan'an, Quanzhou. Shanxi Village residents migrated from Gaopu, Xinglin, Xiamen, making it one of the earliest ancestral sites of the Fan clan. Inside the small Fan Clan Ancestral Hall, there's a plaque that reads "Gaoyang Pingzhao," with "Gaoyang" being the local Fan clan's lantern symbol. Shanmei Village also houses the Huang Clan Ancestral Hall.
The base has a narrow, rugged and steep canyon for exploration, about 3 kilometers long, with various strange rocks and stones along the way, which is amazing! There are several large and small green pools in the middle for boat crossings, which is a must-see for tourists and explorers. The canyon has hanging springs like silk and clear water like a song.
The scenic area has a subtropical monsoon climate and more than 10 Buddhist, Taoist and military cultural landscapes from past dynasties. It has a long history and has left behind many beautiful legends and moving folk stories. It is suitable for travel in all seasons.
Deep in the canyon lies a magnificent waterfall complex. The source is over 480 meters above sea level and over 30 meters wide. The waterfalls are divided into three tiers, each with a green pool over 100 square meters. Visitors can brave the danger of climbing to the second waterfall and diving into the pool to fully enjoy the water. The first waterfall in the complex is over 100 meters high, the second waterfall is over 80 meters high, and the third waterfall is over 60 meters high. When the water is at full capacity, the thunderous sound can be heard for ten miles. The waterfall area is also shrouded in mist and clouds year-round, creating a spectacular sight with a colorful rainbow stretching from north to south.
The base is full of picturesque scenery, flourishing trees and colorful flowers, making it a paradise for various rare animals and plants to live and work.
