Located in the cold temperate continental monsoon climate zone, the brutal Siberian cold current lingers here, resulting in long, cold, and dry winters in the Great Northern Wilderness. The average annual temperature drops from 2.6°C to -3.5°C from south to north, with extreme lows reaching -40°C! Indeed, cold was the primary enemy faced by pioneers. The Great Northern Wilderness boasts a complex natural landscape, making it ideal for travel in spring and summer.
