Xiuyuan River, located 10 kilometers southwest of Mingshui in Zhangqiu District, Jinan City, stretches approximately 30 kilometers from north to south, extending from the Jinan Botanical Garden in the south to the Zhugewu Reservoir in the north. With 10,000 mu of water and another 10,000 mu of landscaped greenery, it is a newly developed leisure and tourism resort developed and constructed in accordance with the standards of a national 5A-level scenic spot, complete with comprehensive supporting facilities. The scenic area, centered around the theme of "water as its vein, greenery as its veneer, culture as its essence, and people-oriented," showcases the delicate and beautiful waterscape and naturally harmonious wetland landscape.
The Xiuyuan River Basin Comprehensive Management Project is a key component of Zhangqiu City's water management efforts. Construction began in early 2011 and is considered the largest investment and most influential project in Zhangqiu's urban development history.
Zhangqiu's development strategy includes plans to construct four major complexes, spanning the Xiuyuan River to the west and Jiqing Road to the north: a central business district complex, Shengjing New Town complex, Chengbei New District complex, and Diaozhen sub-center complex. This will establish a "one river, two cities" urban development framework and create a riverside landscape axis integrating business and finance, commercial services, ecological leisure, and residential living. Along the Xiuyuan River, Zhangqiu will develop a national 5A-level riverside park, featuring a first-class domestic and internationally advanced large-scale musical fountain and water screen cinema.
Jinan has a temperate monsoon climate with obvious monsoons and distinct four seasons: dry and rainy spring, warm and rainy summer, cool and dry autumn, and cold and snowy winter.
