Jianfengling National Forest Park, located in the southwest of Hainan Island, boasts lush, pristine forests. From a distance, the mountain resembles a sharp, knife-like ridge, hence its name. Besides the thrill of hiking, visitors can also admire the beautiful Tianchi Lake, a mirror-like, crystal-clear lake that creates a breathtaking scene of mountains, lakes, and islands within them. Arriving at the lake's edge early in the morning, the misty, tranquil surface, reflecting the mountains, is truly captivating. Numerous resort hotels are located nearby, offering a chance to fully enjoy the tranquility and beauty of this scenic spot.
Jianfengling's natural landscape is pristine. Two routes are available: one ascends to the summit, the other leads to the tranquil Tianchi Lake, though some visitors combine both. The climb is mostly stone steps, and experienced outdoor athletes can reach the summit in about three hours. From the summit, you can enjoy breathtaking views of lush trees and rolling hills.
Tropical monsoon maritime climate;
November to April is the best time to travel. During the rainy season from May to October, be sure to check the local weather forecast first, otherwise the roads will be slippery during heavy rains and there will be a lot of leeches, so be careful.
Tianchi
Tianchi Lake is a 40-hectare alpine lake located at an altitude of 820 meters, covering 600 mu (approximately 1,600 acres). Located in the Tianchi Scenic Area of Jianfengling National Forest Park, its deepest point is measured at 26 meters. Surrounding the lake are attractions such as the Jianfengling Tropical Rainforest Nature Reserve, Mingfeng Valley, Rainforest Valley, a botanical garden, a rare animal zoo, and the "Four Seas Wonders" and "Tiger Roaring Dragon Roar" scenic spots.
Mingfeng Valley
Mingfeng Valley is home to numerous birds, including peacock pheasants, crested eagles, yellow-billed egrets, and jungle fowl. Their calls can often be heard, hence the name Mingfeng Valley. The 1.98-kilometer-long Mingfeng Valley Corridor offers views of towering trees, hanging gardens, large buttress roots, three stages of strangler formations, towering trees, and other tropical rainforest landscapes.
Jianfengling Main Peak
Shaped like a spearhead piercing the sky, it was formerly known as "Xiaoliwu Mountain" and is often called the "Fairy Mountain of the South China Sea." It boasts scenic spots such as the South China Sea Buddha Light, a mossy forest on the summit, a war-preparation tunnel, and an ancient hunter's path. Atop the main peak stands a mountaintop war-preparation tunnel, which was not preserved in the 1960s. This tunnel, approximately 60 meters long, 4 meters wide, and 3 meters high, could accommodate hundreds of people at a time. Traces of the soldiers' lives back then can still be seen within it, standing as a historical witness to Hainan Island's national defense construction.
