Huangyang Mountain, located in the central-western part of Doumen District, Zhuhai City, is known as the "First Peak at the Gateway to the Pearl River." Its scenic beauty offers panoramic views of the Pearl River's three main estuaries. With a peak elevation of 581 meters, Huangyang Mountain is a renowned scenic spot in Doumen, with nine interconnected peaks.
Climbing to the top of Huangyang Mountain, you can see the sea on all sides, surrounding the entire mountain. Overlooking Zhuhai, Macau, Zhongshan, Taishan, Yamen, and other places, all come into view vividly. Whenever a gentle breeze blows, the waters are calm, and motorboats and sailboats race against each other. Looking out over the sea, it looks like a mirror.
Long ago, a folk story circulated in the Doumen area: Legend has it that the Eight Immortals, free and uninhibited, met up to travel through the sea of clouds and visit famous mountains. When they reached Huangyang Mountain and rested at the First Stone Gate, Han Xiangzi, overcome with joy, recited a poem: "Nine peaks crisscross Huangyang Mountain, beautiful waters and mountains offer a world beyond compare. The sun is bright and the wind is gentle, making one intoxicated. To drink and wander is to become an immortal." With that, he removed his shoes, a token of the Eight Immortals' presence. From then on, the sight of these barefoot immortals became a common sight on Huangyang Mountain.
