Kizil Ghost City is located in Kizil Township and Heiyingshan Township in eastern Baicheng County, Aksu Province. This scenic spot can be visited on the way to Heiyingshan Township. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south, formed by erosion, wind erosion, and water flow, with ridges, terraces, and isolated hills between the valleys.
In the winding gullies of various sizes, brown-red, yellow-green, gray-green and ginger-yellow earth covers layer upon layer, like an abandoned ancient Roman city.
Located in an arid region with little rain and high winds, the area has exposed rocks. Heavy rains and strong winds have eroded the rock layers into various shapes, creating lifelike figures such as elephants, turtles, camels, and carp. Devil City is a masterpiece of nature. When strong winds blow, strange noises emanate from the valley, like the howling of ghosts, creating a chilling and mysterious atmosphere. Hence the name Devil City.
Baicheng County has a temperate continental arid climate with cold winters and cool summers.
