
Cao Xueqin, the author of the classic Chinese novel "Dream of the Red Chamber," has been traced back to Liaoyang by Redology experts. The Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall, located at No. 2 Woshi Hutong in Liaoyang City, was built on the site of the Wu Mansion, a Qing Dynasty building. It features a two-story courtyard with 21 tiled-roofed rooms and a statue of Cao Xueqin.
The memorial hall houses and displays historical archives related to the Cao family, along with various versions of "Dream of the Red Chamber" and calligraphy and paintings by renowned artists from around the country based on the novel. Built in the Qing Dynasty, each room features inscribed couplets. The front entrance boasts a golden plaque inscribed with the words "Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall" by renowned Redology expert Feng Qiyong. Needless to say, this is a must-see for anyone interested in Redology.
