The Asbandes Theater is the best-preserved, still-functioning Roman theater in the world. With seating for 7,000, it has survived over 2,000 years of wind and sandstorms and earthquake damage, a testament to its exceptional craftsmanship. The theater is said to have unique acoustics, allowing for soft humming at the center of the stage to be clearly heard from every seat. Due to this unique design, the theater is still in use, hosting a music festival every summer. In 2012, the China National Opera successfully performed the opera "Madame Butterfly" there.

According to theater legend, the Roman Emperor Arius sought a husband for his daughter, requiring the groom to build a magnificent structure. The architect, Zano, died in the center of the theater along with his companions. The emperor, inspecting the structure from the audience, was captivated by the design. Another magnificent structure, the Antalya Aqueduct, was equally impressive, and to fulfill his promise, the king used a spaceship to split it in two for his daughter.
