The Shiqian Hot Spring Scenic Area, also known as Chengnan Hot Springs, is the first national-level hot spring complex scenic area. It is one of China's oldest hot springs, dating back to the 34th year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1606 AD), boasting over 400 years of history. The waters of Shiqian Hot Springs are clean, pure, colorless, and odorless, containing a moderate concentration of trace elements that have been shown to prevent cancer, inhibit tumor growth, and enhance vision. It is the only natural mineral spring in China, and one of the few in the world, that can be both bathed in and drunk directly. Metasilicic acid, another key component of the hot spring's mineral water, has been shown to promote growth, treat gastrointestinal ailments, strengthen bones, prevent arteriosclerosis and cardiovascular disease, and promote longevity.
